The nest is smaller looking but I'll bet that the cam has been moved. We have not been able to see the 6:00 position until now. I think that Jim
noticed the difference also as he said:

I think Hidey tilted the camera some more. You have to turn your head almost 90° to get a look at him now.

Hidey want some food!!!! where are you ma,,,pa?

Mema Jo said...

Chirping Hidey!

I can appreciate your being called Ms. Condor! I am thinking he was a very special little guy and you will always remember him!

Hidey is trying to do a lift-off.

Mema Jo said...

Hidey best be practicing the landing jumps!

Mema Jo said...

lol You know that song ---
What goes up!
Must come down!

paula eagleholic said...

That's cute, Bibee. :)

T-Bird said...

This is the first chance I got Jim but I figure better late than never. Happy birthday you special dadster.

paula eagleholic said...

The cam looks the same to me. You just notice different things when the lighting is different

paula eagleholic said...

poop shoot

Lolly said...

Could be, Paula. You have good eyes. What ever happened it is good to have Hidey back.

wvgal_dana said...

I'm using the pictures from earlier dates. Comparing nest now to them. I truly don't see where it has moved.

Mits said...

aw bless his little heart, Bibee... was he a special needs child,on Detroit Swat...the man in charge of team is named Condor

Mits said...

I can't tell, but when it gets dark if we can't see the car lights, then maybe we will know if it is changed..Hidey was really fooling around with the cam last night

Mits said...

we need to get Buddy a capt's hat

T-Bird said...

I do think the nest looks different. It could just be that Hidey looks bigger to me since she was gone yesterday. Does that make any sense.

Mits said...

guess we would have to make large holes for his big ears though

Costume Lady said...

I thought earlier, that the nest looked different. Hidey was up on top the cam way into the night. He may have jarred it even more when he jumped from there into the nest this morning. It feels so good to have him home. I wasn't ready for him to leave. It just didn't seem like it was time.

T-Bird said...

Yeah MITS that is what he needs huh

T-Bird said...

MITS, Buddy says are you making fun of his ears? : )

Mema Jo said...

Compared some pics like Dana did and need to agree that there isn't a shift in the nest - it is just the lighting!

gwen of s.c. said...

So glad Hidey had come back from her adventure when I got back today. I would have been so disappointed not to see her. Saw a bunch of birds at Lake Wateree this weekend. We even have a nesting eagle near us but haven't seen it yet. Also have a beaver or something eating our weeping willow trees down by the boathouse. Thanks for all the good info. to catch me up since Fri. Gwen

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, at least I gave everybody something to do! :)

Costume Lady said...

Gwen, sounds like you need to take some pictures and share your wildlife sighting with us. We would love it:)

wvgal_dana said...

lol Wanda that is so funny "when he jumped into the nest this morning". RICLMBO=rocking in chair laughing my butt off.

Costume Lady said...

Paula, I have posted a video taken with my camera on Wild and Wonderful of Lib flying into the nest to give Hidey his Welcome Home meal. It is poor quality, but kinda neet to watch.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

We saw a loon-looking bird in the lake today. Sissy took some pics so we can possibly identify it.

Mema Jo said...

Temps are dropping here in the valley - rather cool out!
Winds seem to have settle a bit at the nest but could pick up again.

As someone said earlier - "Glad we visited last weekend at the nest"!

Hidey was 11 weeks old yesterday!
And Jim is only 39 yrs old today!
Remarkable!

wvgal_dana said...

That will be neat to look at when you or Sissy post the picture. I'm sure Deb can tell if not someone else can.

Mema Jo said...

Wanda - how did the Safari turn out?

T-Bird said...

Where did you say that was Wanda?

Bibee said...

Mitz and Mema Jo, He was a special needs child and I will never forget him. He was rotten at times, yet you had to love him. That name stuck with me for a long time with some of the other teachers. Mrs. Condor to this day, I just think it was so funny to hear the teachers calling me that. Yeah, I miss those little kids. I loved them all.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

This bird was gray with a white underside, longer bill than a duck and would come plum up out of the water flapping the wings.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I believe what we had was an immature loon.

T-Bird said...

I don't know what we had but it sure was neat to see.

Costume Lady said...

LOL, Jo. It was so good to have him home. Seem as if he had been gone for a month. I gets really lonely around here in the evenings;)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

This isn't the pic we took but this is the bird I do believe.

Mits said...

Deb will probably know what it is, did it make a loon call?

Costume Lady said...

Speaking of loons, I was amazed to hear from Larry (the loon guy) that he was in fear of getting stabbed by the loon if he tried to help the loonie get back into the nest. If you look at those beaks, I can see where that is a distinct possibillity.

T-Bird said...

The beak sure did look like it could have done some damage. MITS, it didn't make a sound. I sure wasn't bothered by the boat either.

Costume Lady said...

Sorry, Thelma...video is on WILD AND WONDERFUL blog.

Mema Jo said...

Going to watch a TV program at 9:00 if it isn't a repeat. If it is - I'll be back here sooner then you thought I would!

BB ?

T-Bird said...

Oh, thanks Wanda. The welcome home meal video is touching.

T-Bird said...

later Mema Jo

wvgal_dana said...

Larry loves those Loons and he has been around them for a long time. He would certainly know if there would be a danger of going near the Loon when it has babies.

wvgal_dana said...

Jo I'm joining you on the tv..

T-Bird said...

later Dana

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks, Wanda. I saw it, but in my haste to see your other picture, I didn't look closely at it...I thought it was just a picture.

T-Bird said...

Not to beat a dead horse, but I keep looking and I really think the camera has moved. We can barely see the launch pad. It is like we aren't seeing across the nest as if we are kinda looming over it more.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Paula, I looked at the picture on the EM blog but I couldn't see a yellow circle. Am I blind?

T-Bird said...

I didn't see a yellow circle either Eagle-Eyed

gwen of s.c. said...

Dear Costume Lady, I hope to take a class soon to learn how to post pictures. Am kinda dumb on the computer. We do have lots of wildlife at the lake, and some include eagles, hawks, blue herrons, plenty of buzzards, blue birds, wrens, gulls of many types, egrets and too many more. I need to start keeping a list and taking more pictures. Talk to you later. Love, Gwen

T-Bird said...

later Gwen

paula eagleholic said...

That was cute Wanda. Thanks!

Costume Lady said...

Gwen, we do look forward to your photos and if we can help guide you in some way, give a holler!
Glad you have joined us:)

PA Nana said...

Is it the general consensus that Hidey/Heidi (he/she) was only on a limb above the nest yesterday? I was worried about him/her. Almost fell asleep at the screen. I was wondering about it's behavior with the adult but someone posted a logical reason - greed. lol
Oops - Hi everyone!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, I see Hidey didn't eat Spidey last night. Sure is good to see our baby in the nest tonight, safe and sound.

Costume Lady said...

Yellow circle is waaaay over to he left of the tree.

Costume Lady said...

NANA, that is called manteling and it is a part of survival in nature. It is a necessary evil. LOL

Mits said...

Sharon and Thelma...it is on the left side of the tree

Costume Lady said...

It does feel good, doesn't it Sharon? I'll bet Hidey thinks so too.

paula eagleholic said...

You have to click on the pic to see it larger...then it's to the left of the nest and up slightly.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, I opened up that pic in the image viewer so I could zoom in and I still don't see a yellow circle.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I see the parent to the right of the nest but I don't see anything to the left.

Costume Lady said...

Sharon, are you looking at the right photo...the one that I printed "Nest" and "Hidey"? on?

hedgie said...

Hi gang. Catching up on comments....nice birthday party for my grandgirls....and a nice panda nap after I got home...really cooling down here!
HAd to LOL....Lowreeta's 1/2 plane!!! Soory I missed you, Loretta! Keep on having fun!

SO-O-O relieved that Hidey has decideyed to stay put!

hedgie said...

Jo, I bet those people in the vehicle ahead of you wondered what kind of VIP you were to get to go in...ha, ha...She's our chief Eaglet Momster, people....and she is our VIP!!

Lolly said...

I think Hidey is going to sleep tonight. LOL It really is good to see him in the nest.

Wanda, enjoyed the video. Thanks!

Costume Lady said...

Sharon, the photo is on the Eaglet Momsters Page. The one on my blog doesn't have the yellow circle.

Costume Lady said...

Hidey does not look right to me. I can't tell which end is up...anyone else?

T-Bird said...

Wanda, Hidey's head is facing the bottom of the nest.

T-Bird said...

I thought she looked funny earlier too. I had to look until she moved to know which end was which.

Costume Lady said...

Lynn, Margy's little garden is so cute and I wondered how often she sits in that comfy looking rocking chair and relaxes? Our little hummingbird:)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I am looking at the pic on the EM blog.

Hidey's head is pointed at 6 o'clock!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Our tired little bird is resting good!

I am going to bed now. Got too much sun today and my eyes are burning.

Good night and sweet eagle dreams, my friends of fine feathers and fur. I will definitely sleep better tonight with Hidey in the nest!

Costume Lady said...

Have never seen him lay in that part of the nest, I guess that is why it doesn't look right. Also, I'm sure he's plumb, tuckered out. What an adventure he has had!

Bibee said...

Since our little child is back home and resting, I'm out of here for the night. Good night everyone! Hope you all have sweet dreams! Talk to you tomorrow - Condor here over and out!

Costume Lady said...

Nitey Nite, Sharon.

Costume Lady said...

I cleaned up the paint supplies, ate dinner, cleaned me up and am, hopefully done with today's phone calls. I am slam wore out, as the Bluefield gang says.

We have spent the last couple of days working on the program for the services. We finally have it done and the CA crew took it to the printer. They do things different in CA, the funeral home would take care of it here.

Mema Jo said...

Hidey needs to learn to put head under the wing so that the gnats and bugs wouldn't be in the face.

deb said...

I decided tonight was a good night for a Margarita! Good thing I had a 4-pack in the fridge.

paula eagleholic said...

Sounds good, Deb!

Mema Jo said...

BWO Nest Update:
no clear signs that hatching has started. Tomorrow is the day we expect something more definite, although hatching could start today or even as late as Tuesday or Wednesday.

hedgie said...

Yep, I think that is Hidey in the yellow circle, too! And I don't see anything different in the cam angle.
So many sets of eyes, and so many opinions!!! I'm just glad that whatever Hidey's adventure was that (s)he appreciates the comfort of the nest...for however long (s)he decides to stay!!
Sounds like a lot of fun this weekend for alot of momsters....Jim never said what he did for his special day...???
Gwen, if you look on google you can find all the instructions for posting pics!! Not hard at all!

Mits said...

God bless you...Hidey just sneezed

Mits said...

almost have my BD closet cleaned out, but am running out of steam....might have to finish it tomorrow night....going out to lunch and shopping with a friend tomorrow.

Mits said...

hmmmm Margarita time, sounds good, glad things are getting done, Deb, you must be exhasuted, both physically and mentally

movin said...

Hi, I think the nest "looks" smaller tonight too, but I saw it today (empty) and it looked the same as normal.

So, I'm thinking it is owing to the fact that Hidey is sleeping in the middle of the nest, which puts him closer to the camera, makes him look larger and makes the nest look smaller. What do you think?

I also think the camera was moved a little last night, and the nest looks rotated more clockwise than it was.

Is there a log (limb/stick) right above Hidey's head?
Well from the last movement I think I answered my own question and Yes there is a limb right at head/beak level.

deb said...

Helen, I am starting to relax! I should have had one of these a week ago!

Ms Bookworm said...

Hello, everyone! Just checking in before I go finish studying Chapt. 4 for a Tuesday test! So good to see Hidey in the nest, resting up for tomorrow. I caught that sneeze, too-- God bless, Hidey! Not sure whether the camera's been moved-- it's kinda dark there now. Will be able to tell a lot better tomorrow morning. Well, gotta go study. Prayers for all our needs, and for healing where needed... for a good night's sleep for everyone, too. Till tomorrow! :o]

Raccoon in Saline, haven't looked in at that cam in a long time.

Bet you feel like you accomplished a lot this weekend---you go girl! Margarita well-deserved!

Enjoy the Marguerita, Deb...one of my favorite warm weather drinks.

I have some mix in the refrig, but I never think of it when it's hot. Think I will write it down.

I will send it out, Lynn, but I want to get the one with the pictures on it first. Hopefully my sister that is there can scan it and e-mail it. If not I will mail the other out.

Service will be June 10 at Riverside National Cemetery, then we will go to the lodge at their housing complex in Hemet. (Four Seasons)

I am off to bed, also. Night everyone!

Lolly said...

Oh man.....I have been mellowed out this evening. Watching a little TV, sat on patio and did a little bird watching with Jack, have had computer on my lap and fell asleep with it sitting here. LOL Think I am going to be ready for bed early this evening.

Lolly said...

Hidey continues to sleep soundly. Think I will say good night.

Sweet dreams!

Well like Mits I am to have lunch tomorrow with friends. Off to bed I go. So happy Hidey is home!

Wow, look how big our baby is! YAY for another successful chick from our favorite Bald Eagle couple, Liberty and Belle!

hedgie said...

I'm calling it a day, too.
I dread tomorrow so much...it is going to be a sad and devastating day to those of us who dedicated our work lives to GM...who would ever think that it could come to this. Probably won't have any insurance until they come out of bankruptcy---TG I have medicare...TG I'm not still going through chemo/radiation!!! Also have to worry about whether BIL's plant in MO will be one to close....as one owner interviewed on the news just said: "This is the death of America."
Goodnight, friends. Peace.

paula eagleholic said...

NIght, all!

Hugs to all ♥

Costume Lady said...

What a day this has been! Hidey is back home and all's right with the world. I hope the next time Hidey leaves, he will do it when we are all watching and actually fledges and not camera hops:)

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE

hi all. new to site.. live in tha burg..eagles looking great !

magpie said...

Home to Hidey...how nice. He (or she) seems a little restless, has changed position a few times and preened a little now and then.
Caught up on all posts... good to come home to everyone on the Blog too yet I know most are asleep by now. ☺

lou - if you are still up and about, do you mean Martinsburg as the burg?

magpie said...

Happy Birthday one more time, Jim !

After all, you have almost two more hours to celebrate on the West Coast ☺

Bird Girl said...

Hey! Happy birthday!

magpie said...

My gosh, Hidey is up and at the edge of the nest....wonder what's going on

magpie said...

Little Eaglet looks kind of morose...I guess maybe he is still ratttled over the events of the last couple of days. It looks like is trying to fall asleep standing up !

Bird Girl said...

Rattled over what, mag?

magpie said...

Oh, just the possibility that he got sort of lifted out of the nest rather unexpectedly early Saturday morning rather than making a conscious decision to do so...maybe, no one knows for sure but "Colonel Sanders" posted that info late in the day Saturday. And then sorting plopping down into the nest when he (or she) did return. Just different behaviors, I guess. I am no expert but just wondering about it all.

Good to see you Bird Girl ☺

magpie said...

I missed a lot of the action because of work and sleep schedule so I couldn't see him when he was up and movig around Sunday evening...maybe he looked just fine. Sounds like he was having his normal fun with food and the parents...that's always a good sign ☺

magpie said...

Lots of good expert opinions on branch, fledge, branch, fledge...I so I guess I wonder what he was really up to when he was gone from the nest for over 24 hours. Normal anxiety as far as I can tell, most of us have been feeling some of it, I think...I think I am just too new to know what to think about it all.

Lori O. said...

Margy you still up? Hello!

Just wanted to report on Hidey - that she's here in the nest and still with her head hanging down on the edge of the nest.

Guess that's roosting?

I hope everyone is well and savoring every second we still have our Hidey home.

magpie said...

I'mn still Lori, catching up on emails and stuff from work snafus on my Sunday evening shift.
Yeah, I guess Hidey is asleep standing up so to speak. Guess Eaglet is doing okay, doing normal Young Eagle things I guess. I am as big a worrywart as everyone else I suppose. Tomorrow will bring new optimism and adventure, I trust....

Good to see you, Lori....

magpie said...

"I'm still here Lori" is what I meant to type, usually proofread but I am really tired right about now.

Lori O. said...

Good luck with getting your work things right -- Getting ready to go to work here.

Take care Margy and keep an eye on our baby here. I'll check in when I get down the road.

You're right - she does seem kind of "down." Morose. Wish we could read her mind!

magpie said...

Okay, Lori, have a good one.
It's truly an amazing experience to sit here and watch this young Eagle move around like this at this hour.
But I have to hit the sack...exhausted at the moment.

Good Night, or Good Morning, Eagle Friends ♥

Lou said...

Hidey update at 4:50AM:

Still standing on the edge of the nest either preening or dozing off.

She's awake and preening now standing at 10 o'clock.

Just so happy she's still here.

magpie said...

Just passing through..

Hidey woke up hungry, about 10 mins ago...

crunch munch

Tammy said...

Hidey just flew off the nest to the right.

Tammy said...

Hidey seemed antsy making short jumps and flights around the nest and then stood on the edge at the 3 o'clock position and flew off. It was not by accident. It was intentional.

Time was 5:47am.

Tammy said...

I can hear what sounds like Hidey. It doesn't sound like she is very close to the nest. I would say a neighboring tree? Somewhere close, but definitely not the tree the nest is in.

Tammy said...

Still hear her. Sounded alittle closer this time. She seems to be calling out to someone.

Tammy said...

Still closeby.

Her calling out is getting louder.

I don't think she is getting closer. I just think she is turning up the volume.

Lori O. said...

Darn it -

I saw Hidey "lighten her load," then hop up to the camera... then she's gone again.

Lori O. said...

You're not alone Tammy - I'll fret with you. ☺

At least it seems like she's done the same thing of hopping up somewhere nearby. Hope so.

Nice to meet you, Tammy.

Tammy said...

She calls out every couple of minutes Lori.

Last time was about two minutes ago.

Tammy said...

Nice to meet you too..

:)

I just had a feeling she was going to do something. She seemed awfully antsy... I guess I can go to the bathroom now.

There, did you hear her?

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Well, good morning ladies! I see we have an empty nest again this morning!

Lori O. said...

Well, she could either be calling Lib or Belle, or maybe she's nervous after Saturday. I'm no expert.

Hidey is my first eaglet.

Lori O. said...

It is nice to hear her and know that she's near.

So Thank You GOD that the sound is working!

stronghunter said...

Heard two calls, one close, one far away.

Tammy said...

I can't imagine she is too scared to come back to the nest. There was absolutely no hesitation when she left it.

Yeah, she is closeby. Same tree. So this is what they would call "branching"?

stronghunter said...

Hidey not in nest.

Lori O. said...

Hi Sissy & Stronghunter.

I think you're right - this is branching. Wish we could pull out to a wide angle view.

stronghunter said...

Good morning. Getting reasy to go to work. Will check in briefly in a few.

Tammy said...

She was scrounging around the nest looking for something to eat. I bet if Moom or Dad would come back with breakfast she would get back in that nest.

Tammy said...

Good Morning StrongHunter and Sissy. Didn't mean to be rude. New to this and I got a bit overly excited. :)

Sorry about that.

wvgal_dana said...

Good Morning all in Eagleland and watchers.

I see Hidey has done it again, out visiting the branches I bet. Yep close by with that sound.

wvgal_dana said...

Some whining sounds.

Lori O. said...

Hi Dana. Glad to have an expert on board now.

You're right Tammy.
She's hungry. Was scrounging around the nest gnawing on a stick and pecking around for nestovers.

Tammy said...

Hi Dana... If I may ask you a question. The picture that Wanda took the other day showing the tree and the location of the nest in the tree.. By looking at the view we have of the nest here, would Wanda have taken that picture from what side of the nest? Noon, three six or nine?

Trying to figure out by looking at that picture which side of the tree Hidey may be on now.

wvgal_dana said...

If I have this correctly 9 o'clock position. I believe??

wvgal_dana said...

Tee hee Lori I'm certainly not an expert. I've learned a lot but there is always more to learn. Then it comes down to remembering. There is where I have a problem at times. CRS some say on here.

Lori O. said...

Well, I'm a newbie.

I sure missed meeting you at the nest.

stronghunter said...

Bye for now, Dana, Lori, Tammy, Jo, and all. Must go to work. Have a good day.

Dana, thanks for the answer. I asked the wrong question. :)

I think instead of attempting to be technical about this, I am just going to enjoy the moment.

:)

wvgal_dana said...

Lori I wished I had been able to make it. I wanted to meet you too.

Some think the cam has moved. I am trying to send out to the Eaglet_Momster group a picture taken on another date from the still cam. You would have to compare it to the still cam picture of today to see what you think. Looking at the picture and the design on the tree I don't think it has moved.

You all can see what you think. Trying to send soon so check your emails.

wvgal_dana said...

OK the still picture has been sent out of the cam. You can compare that picture with the "still cam" for today. Looking at the design on the tree helps a lot.

wvgal_dana said...

I still here our wimpering eaglet.

Lori O. said...

That's interesting - thanks for the work on digging up the pics. I'll check it out, Dana!

wvgal_dana said...

Wonder if Hidey has doze off for a bit?

wvgal_dana said...

No there Hidey makes some sounds again.

wvgal_dana said...

Parent just flew into nest and Hidey is really screaming now.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Parent just came to the nest and Hidey right behind them. Mantling for sure!!

wvgal_dana said...

Parent has food and Hisey just flew in. Pretty good not a "splat" this time at all. Manteling food now.

wvgal_dana said...

Good Job Hidey !! ( :

wvgal_dana said...

Parent came in from lauch pad area and Hidey came down from branches into about middle of nest.

Lori O. said...

Dang I missed it, but happy to hear it was a better landing.

Yeah for YOU Hidey!

Tammy said...

I notice when Hidey returned he/she did so with their head bowed and kept it's head bowed until the parent left. Is that an act of submission to the parent like it was fearful of being reprimanded?
