Yes, Norma, it would be great. Our vacation is not until 6/19/2009. Seems like that is forever away! We are going camping Memorial weekend, so that is like a mini-vacation, 3-4 days!
Oh yeah, that reminds me. When we were at the lake a couple of weeks ago, we saw a Common Loon! It was absolutely beautiful! Could swim hundred feet or more under water. He would go down under and come back up way down the lake!! It was so cool. Just found out what it was in my bird book the other day!
DON'T BREATH THE AIR IN BETHESDA! If you're headed to Bethesda, you may want to take along a surgical mask.
Not for the swine flu (that's so two weeks ago). The new concern: a mysterious white substance that is falling like snow on parked cars and is probably entering the lungs of locals.
So what is it? Apparently it's a combo of plastic foam bits and fine dust. The Washington Post said locals traced it back to the Hilton Garden Inn, which is under construction on Waverly Street.
I have been putting some pictures on the Momsters album for our nest, sometimes they are out of time order, but I guess you all will forgive me for my incompentence !
You got to be quick to see those eggs in Finland, those birds don't give up much of a view. Good for you Norma for seeing them. They look more like rocks than eggs !
MORNIN' MAGPIE!!---FINLAND site has been my favorite for a few years---as you know!---how many eggs did you see?---That site is one color--SIENNA---have seen some green on the trees!!
Storm passed...at least for now. Better go out and get papers before it starts up again! Norma, please send sun this way! Yesterday was nice, but didn't last!
I have it Hedgie... thanks. Bob I can send it to you, but Norma does not know when she will be up and running, will tend to that im just a minute or two....
GA GIRL, the reason most of us call the land nest Finney's is because, that is the name we gave a fledgling several years ago, and the water nest is just plain Finland so not to confuse the two
So intent on getting the blue thingy right, I forgot to say..........Good morning everyone! We had a surprised thunderstorm during the night, had a good rain. Yea!
Just had a power outage...just long enough to mess up everything that needs to be reset!! Wind blowing hard....hear more d..n sticks coming down. ARGH!!! Can't win when you live in the woods!
Oh Great, upgraded Adobe, now half my sites won't open up, and I have no avatars! Woof ! Might have to undo what I did, later. Got to go pick up Cable Converter box so I can get my PBS channels again.
Hope everyone enjoys the day.
Do you think Steve's trip is vacation or a work trip ? I don;t think he said. Imagine the Wildlife he will see !
ajs - one the chicks at HI got stuck to the underside of the female, they think it was from a poop. The eaglet fell off the mom and died when she flew off the nest. Doug Carrick found the eaglet and buried it. They have live in his backyard for 20+ years.
I think Hidey hit the tree branch with that poop shoot!
AJ, at HI, Echo, the youngest eaglet, somehow got stuck to the mother's underside and she couldn't get him off. She took off twice and the second time, Echo fell to the ground. The landowner there found Echo under the nest tree and had a proper burial for an eaglet.
Hi ajsmolski! One of the chicks at HI got caught up in the mom's feathers somehow and she couldn't get him loose. She tried really hard....not sure whether he died during the attempts or not but the second time mom flew out of the nest, he fell off, and DOug carrick found his little body below the tree. Very traumatic to witness.
And here's what Lisa at BW wrote about the HI incident
Hornby Island Eagle Cam
I did have some sad news to pass along, and the main reason I share this is I know a lot of our cam watchers follow other Eagle Cam nests, so I thought it might be of interest. The well-known Hornby Island Eagle Cam (which is located in British Columbia, Canada) had two young chicks — Hope and Echo — and yesterday Echo perished in a very bizarre accident that is something I haven’t seen before on a raptor cam.
Echo somehow became entangled in its mother’s feathers on the underside of her body. The Hornby Island cam personnel were at a loss as to what could have happened, but they speculated that the chick either got tangled in her feathers, tangled in something she had attached to her leg (like fishing line) or “glued” to her by way of excrement possibly from one of the chicks.
The end result was the mother could not disengage poor Echo from her underside, and after a long period of trying (and the chick chirping in distress) she flew away — apparently on two different occasions — eventually returning the second time without Echo. The Hornby Island cam personnel later found Echo deceased on the ground.
Today on the Hancock Forum they said that after examining Echo, there did not appear to be any sticky areas on the chick to indicate how it became attached to the parent, so it appears the strange accident will remain a mystery. They have since buried Echo in a garden on the property:
Well, I'll tell ya'll what. I was watching the HI nest when that happened and I still think she impaled him with her talon! It was a tremendous experience, no matter what it was. Just awful!! Have to take the bad with the good I reckon!
No new news on Buddy, but while checking found these entries: remember the eagle found in the river the day after Norma and gang took the Eagle train last fall? It was taken to the Wildlife Center...update on it; info on a bird injured in Pr. George, VA County last month. VA Wildlife Center info
Margy, at least you have an excuse for napping!!! What's mine? Listen, expert lady....any idea what tree these long tendril messy things come off of? Got a humongous pile cleaned off deck on Sun. and now everything is carpeted with them again, except more!!! What a mess...and they are SO full of nasty pollen that they sure make me cough and sneeze!
Johio, the baby is okay. There was a parent in the nest with her for a few hours today. They are in and out all the time. How long have you been watching?

Sending out an Alert for Ceil and Mary Margaret...
Hi, everybody! I'm a bit tardy today-- have been catching up on housework. Wow, Hidey really got my heart rate going with that last bit of 'wingercises'! Thought that baby was out of the nest for sure! Hidey sure has been telling quite the story, too-- and it worked! Looks like a late lunch is now being served! Weather is nice here in SoCal--about 75 and sunny. Oops! Looks like Hidey will have to scrounge for more lunch alone. Guess what-- my favorite Oregon Junco is back! Haven't seen him in a couple of months. He likes to hop around on the patio table and check out everything on it. I'm really glad to see him. I was afraid that one of the hawks had snagged him. How is everybody today? By the way-- what ever happened with Mr. Santa Barbara? I missed reading whether everything turned out OK or not. Think I'm going to go water my patio plants before Hubby gets home from work. Be back in a bit. :o]
I think I am going to have to stop watching for a while. She is going to give me a heart attack. I hope Wanda and Gene are ready to head out to the sycamore tree to get her off the ground once she floats there.
Was trying to post. Got a phone call. Messed it up. Hedgie... Nice goose pics. Geese are all over the place here. Behind the schools in the fields there are dozens every day. Honkin up a storm. On the golf courses the golfers hate them cause there poop's are the same color as the golf balls and it's all over the place.
WOW! Hidey just got awake and then had a poop shoot - Now she is preening a bit in the center of the nest - You have to remember that it is totally dark for Hidey up in the nest - We have the night light but not Hidey.
Leg is working very well! Gets me where I want to go - Don't need the cane but do keep it handy just in case.... I have been feeling very well - breathing is good for which I am thankful!
How about you! Did your legs heal? Any more test for the iron? I have to beef up on the Vit D - wish I could just get 10 min sunshine a day! That would do it! Don't like pills that look like Horse Pills!
Jo, I am so glad you are doing good. Just stay that way until next weekend! :)
I think my appointment with hematology/oncology is next week so I will find out then how the iron is. My legs are healing really well now. I did get what looked like a yeast infection on one of them but it has since dried up.
What a Cliff Hanger! Grey's was a really powerful episode tonight. No tears here...must be something wrong with me. I thought the little black doctor did some fine acting tonight;)
My Vit D is in the Multi Vitamin. I have about 3 big ones and I just gulp them all down in a one shot deal! They slide real well - I just don't like looking at them. lol
Well, I thought I had read that Izzy and George had not been giving contracts for next year, or they did not want to come back....o, I'm on another round of those horse pills too, once a week for 6 weeks.

Hello all!
I've been off for a while again because the Internet has been quite slow in my school.
Hidey must've know I was back-and is mad at me-because the first thing she did was poop!
Thanks a lot Hidey!

But...I reckon if she had impaled him, that would have been obvious on examination. So...mystery for sure, very sad one to say the least!
There's a shot of the mother feeding two young chicks at Maine II.

Jim
I am just thankful I was not watching. Do NOT want to see that kind of thing,
blogger cop has been a real bugger this a.m. for me
Left for a while. Took a walk around the yard with Jack. Sat on the fron patio and finished my coffee. Very pleasant morning outside.
Now I need to start getting ready to go to Laurel's. Will be picking my Jacob up at his school.
Anyway, need to get with it.
Later!
Just saw 2 eaglets at BWE, then one disappeared!
Hidey is riding out the wind in the middle of the nest, laying down.
Nope, 2 still at BWE, can see part of one's tail.
Have fun Lolly.
got to go out for a while...bbl
Well, we have 2 "easy, breezy, beautiful cover girls in our nest!" :)
Well, I really don't know about the easy part.
Adult in our nest...it's lunchtime!
Hidey is doen and is laying in the bowl...think adult is gonna split soon
Think that could be Lib...more slender, not as wide...still hanging out
Shadow play from the branches, is so pretty ☺
HURRY, FEEDING TIME AT DELTA 1
Oh Boy ! Got my avatars back and watch Dellwo's hummingbird without freezing up!
Thanks Jim! For the Hot Tip !

I would say you are well along on the path to recovery! You sound like your energetic self these days
Yippee and Yay ! ☺
I am glad Hidey is lying low...
Smart Birdy ! ☺
See ya'll later!
That's quite a sad story about Echo!
And yes, Paula, I think the poop shoot did hit the tree...
Now I'm watching the feeding going on at HI.
Our parent seems very watchful and cautious, protective maybe.
Thanks for the Delta feeding tip, Ga-Girl...by the time I could find the site, feeding is over, but it sure looks pretty there!
Back in a little while, the pillows are calling my name!

Webcam was showing this morning though.
Welcome Johio. Mine is showing just fine with the wind just a-whipping!
Probably a problem with my computer then. I'll try again tomorrow. Have never seen the parent(s) with the baby eagle. Hope to though.
Yep...I am feeling much better, thank you, Margy!
Okay, leaving now to get my boy. He will come runnning to me when I appear at the door. More fun!
See you all tomorrow. Do not think I will take the laptop as I will be pretty busy and home before lunch tomorrow.
Take care.....each and every one of you! See you later..Gators!
is that baby eagle ok.
when was the last time any of you saw the parent(s)?
baby seems like it would be lonely.
Johio, the baby is okay. There was a parent in the nest with her for a few hours today. They are in and out all the time. How long have you been watching?

Heart-attack! I thought Hidey was going off the nest with those last exercises!

Posted my geese shots from yesterday on my blog.
Another storm approaching from the west...hope that Belle comes in and holds that baby down when it hits the nest.
Just finished dinner - headed out for a few hours I'll touch base when I return
Oh Yes! I like your 2 geese shots, Lynn.
I am finally home and caught up. I had a short lunch, had to get the dogs to the kennel.
I passed my training class test, guess that is a good thing, Ha! Now I have to mow, yuck. I'll pop in to check in when I need a break.
Just popping in before I leave
My only hope is that Hidey doesn't jump into the wind and get taken back a bit!
Just want to see her in the egg well sleeping when I return. lol
I think I am going to have to stop watching for a while. She is going to give me a heart attack. I hope Wanda and Gene are ready to head out to the sycamore tree to get her off the ground once she floats there.
Raining but not storming, but almost dark!
I am done mowing for another time. Now for some dinner and then Survivor!! I have to fit packing in to tonight also.
It's raining pretty hard here and Hidey doesn't seem to mind it very much. It is 74°, so it probably feels like a SPA bath. Tee Hee
Can't wait to see this sweetie in the feather, next weekend:)
Evening, all!
Got my mowing done before the rain really starts...just sprinkling here now.
Raining here now...thank you Mother Nature for letting me finish mowing the lawn!
Gotta go fix some grub....bbialw
Hidey at 2ish
Ricky, we have a lot of geese out in the county but these goofs were within the city limits and no where close to a body of water!!!
Hidey's hanging out on the edge of the nest. Do all eaglets do this or is Hidey just special that way :)
Everyone have their tissue box next to your TV chair? Grey's is 2 hrs. of season finale drama!
Becky - they all do that!
I'm ready Hedgie!
Hidey is finally down in the bowl.
Thanks for the update on our Eagle train eagle, Lynn
So now you all know - I don't do Grey's
Hidey and Mei are sacked out for the night - well Mei will probably get up for a late snack of bamboo.
Mei is awake and cuddling her toy (really the ball with biscuits)
Spidey is on the move at the nest....
Hope Lynn doesn't see him - hates spiders.
Watching the Hornby nest
Adult is trying to fluff-up the egg well
Hope is in the way and just
wants to lie there......
WOW! Hidey just got awake and then
had a poop shoot - Now she is preening a bit in the center of the nest - You have to remember that it is totally dark for Hidey up in the nest - We have the night light but not Hidey.
Mei is being very restless this evening in her birthing den......
She is digging through all the bamboo on the floor - like clearing a space.
YOU GO MEI!!
No bears yet at the Snowman cam - just a raccoon
Raccoon party in PA woods
Hi Wanda.... Glad Gee Gee found at least 1 outfit when you took her shopping
The medical test you said Gee Gee needed to have - is it totally necessary? What does it show?
Hidey is still wide awake and preening her wing feathers. Hope she isn't planning on going anywhere tonight!
1/2 hr and all Grey's viewers will be on here! Hope it ends well for the season.
Mei is coming out into her large den
Be back around 11:00....
Mema Jo, I don't watch Grey's either! How are you and how is your leg?
Leg is working very well! Gets me where I want to go - Don't need the cane but do keep it handy just in case....
I have been feeling very well - breathing is good for which I am thankful!
How about you! Did your legs heal?
Any more test for the iron? I have to beef up on the Vit D - wish I could just get 10 min sunshine a day! That would do it! Don't like pills that look like Horse Pills!
I think I am watching Mei on Cam 1 eating the bamboo.
Jo, I am so glad you are doing good. Just stay that way until next weekend! :)
I think my appointment with hematology/oncology is next week so I will find out then how the iron is. My legs are healing really well now. I did get what looked like a yeast infection on one of them but it has since dried up.
Well, THAT was rather anticlimactic...I hate cliffhangers!
Jo, my Vit. D is small capsules (400 mg.--I take 3 a day). Nothing hard about taking them!
Lynn! You don't sound like a happy camper! One of those endings!
What a Cliff Hanger! Grey's was a really powerful episode tonight. No tears here...must be something wrong with me. I thought the little black doctor did some fine acting tonight;)
My Vit D is in the Multi Vitamin.
I have about 3 big ones and I just gulp
them all down in a one shot deal!
They slide real well - I just don't like looking at them. lol
Well, I thought I had read that Izzy and George had not been giving contracts for next year, or they did not want to come back....o, I'm on another round of those horse pills too, once a week for 6 weeks.
