I just got back from buying the house paint. I just went with plain white, didn't want to have to think about what color to use. The primer looks nice, so I decided to stay with white.
Yeah rah!! Welcome home Hidey. Thanks so much Mits for calling me and letting me know she is back! We are on the boat and getting ready to head out. I will check back in later!
Deb, are you going to paint the whole house??? Thought you were just doing trim and soffits!!! My new soffit pieces look very nice....still need one more coat of paint...scheduled for next Sat. I can reach one side, but the rest takes the extension ladder...or hanging over the roof...so I pay to have it done...thank goodness SIL's bro is relatively cheap labor!
I was thinking that Hidey might take a nap, but it sounds like a good idea for me as well. Was up late last night and George the cat woke me early this morning. George doesn't appreciate sleeping in on the weekend.
Hidey's nap was short. Wonder if he / she is about to disappear again.
JMHO, but I believe hidey was up in different branches in the sycamore tree since yesterday a.m., it was more of a drop-in then fly-in this a.m.....will probably do more branching lessons before the big day arrives.
Going to go get ready for gd's's birthday party...taking them to Pizza Hut....but they don't know it ...not sure what they are telling them to get them ready and out of the house!! Hope they will be surprised! BB this evening. Enjoy your afternoon, fowl friends. Hidey, stay home for the rest of today!
I agree with you, Helen. I think Hidey never did fledge. He jumped up on the camera and then onto a branch and then came back into the nest the same way. JMHO.
Stevie from Kentucky and Wanda-- I too believe as you can go back and read comments. Hidey never fledged was up in tree. THERE WAS NO FLY IN THIS MORNING. HIDEY "DROPPED" IN IT WAS A "SPLAT" ON ITS SIDE".
Most of my painting can be done with a step ladder. Just a few spots that I need a big ladder. I am doing the trim, soffits and garage door, Lynn. I just am not the world's fastest painter. My neck gets sore from looking up, so I have to take breaks and check on Hidey.
I just googled and 90 is okay to paint in. Darn, I was hoping they would say not to paint when it is that warm. I do need to check the humidity, but I don't think it is higher than 70.
Hi, Everyone! OH, THANK GOD our Hidey has returned! How's that for a Birthday present, Movin' Jim? HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!!! Have a blessed day! :o] Looks like our eaglet is ready for a nap-- must be tired from that excellent adventure! I have a lot of studying to do today, but am finding it SO difficult to tear myself away from the nest! Guess I'll study for a bit and check back in. Have a good and restful afternoon, everyone! BBL :oD
Hi, Tammy, welcome! Yep, that's our Hidey! Now that I can breathe again, and my blood pressure is closer to normal, I'm gonna go and hit the school books for a bit. Will be checking back often. Hope Hidey has pleasant dreams, and gets all rested up!
Going to hospital to visit mother-in-law, so glad that Hidey is back. We are also going out to eat. Yum, yum! Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday! Happy Birthday to Jim! Hope Hidey stays in today and rests up. She sure has been vocal today. BBL
Hi! I'm back to do a quick check on Hidey-- hey, Hidey, I see that big yellow footsie sticking out! I think you're pretty worn out after being out in the world for a while! Have a nice nap, little one. BBIALW... :o]
HELLO ALL YOU HAPPY HAPPY NESTORS OUT THERE IN BEAUTIFUL EAGLELAND After seeing Hidey up in our nest with Belle/Lib up on the branch above the nest, I took the slow road home! ☺ ☺ ☺
I think I was probably buying my bouquet of peonies from Megan at the Farmer's Market when Hidey made in down into the nest. I think s/he was branching and slept perched on whatever branch s/he had made it to for the night. And Colonel Sanders said it like he saw it as an unintentional leave from the nest. S/he will be around for a while and We will go through this again - we have all had a good practice shot on this first flight event
Tammy - Hidey's shadow could be seen a few times before she plopped into the nest. She tried to find a few tidbits to eat then started screeching loud and long. One parent came in with some food and after some posturing, they shared. Another parent came in and Hidey refused to share. She literally chased that parent out of the nest. The remaining parent fed Hidey. Since then, Hidey has been resting after her long day out of the nest.
Watching the new cam Helen (Mits) sent me with baby bulldogs! It has sound and so does our cam and that little 'Puppy Whimpering" could be coming from either one!
All painting that can be done with a roller is done. A couple of windows and the gutter left to do. Jo, I m glad you got to see the whole family and Megan at market. How was Megan doing after her fall?
Margy I tried to wake you up but you were sleeping good. I am glad. Jo I asked Mits if she had called you but she doesn't have your number at the beach and I have misplaced your cell number. I am so glad you saw them. I was trying to look at my schedule for the week I was coming to the nest.
Mason coming home Monday, where do you see that? I didn't see Tom and Sandra at the mkt. today, I was gonna stop by their house, but my van was running so poorly, I didn't dare make any extra stops. Sandra doesn't want that jalopy broken down in her driveway.
Mason's dad was repeating an earlier communication he had sent with just a new sentence or two at the beginning... Don't think Mason is coming home - I think he has gotten through the double pneumonia and is now back at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital. Keep those prayers going their way!
Mason is back at Bryn Mawr for the time being. Deb, I am fine today, just a sore knee and hand. I added some pics from mkt. and my garden to mkt and whatever blog.
Good think I was standing there at the nest seeing that little 'fly away' back in our nest! The Security Guard turned away the car in front of me and I thought Oh No Going to have to go out on the road to see that tree! BUT it was our friendly guard, Jim, with the big smile and chuckling at me! Waved me right on by after a big Hello!
I am glad you are not too sore today, Megan. I will check out your flowers in a bit.
Do you all remember i told you about a lady from Yankton that had a lung transplant. She is a bird lover. She posted this today:
Lazy week-end. Walking everywhere; can do some slopes now. Have ditched the wheelchair. Jackie (my cousin and caregiver) and I went to the Mississippi River Friday afternoon at Wabasha, about an hour from here. We visited the national eagle center and watched a trainer feed rehab eagles carp and a big lab rat with its tail going down the hatch like a stringy piece of pasta. (I thought Jackie might pass out.) Mask tightly on my face, I inched up close to the golden eagle to eye the bird, it's head feathers a burnished patina of bronze-gold.
Jim is Great, Mema - on my first "unofficial" visit in 2006 - he took me down to the building with the Closed Circuit TV and let me watch that...I was one Happy Eagle Watcher that day ! ☺
Hello Everyone in Eagleland from Mykonos, a Greek island. Been here since TH noon---took 1/2 plane from Athens. I'm SO glad I could finally get the Blog page open. There is one free computer in lobby, but I tried to send em's w/pics the other night & it can't handle attachments. See now the wonderful exciting news about Hidey on the front Blog page!!!! xxxooo☺ ♥
And Hello Loretta! You picked a great time to hop on...hope you can get the live feed but the stills are nice too ! We Miss You - What is PRP doing with you !!!
Margy, the kestrel is getting so good at getting up to the opening. Yesterday, it couldn't figure out how to get its wings tucked in to get in the hole. It kind of clung to the box's wall.
It is 11:50 PM here & tomorrow, 2 PMish we leave this BEAUTIFUL, but hilly place for Santorini by few hour ferry boat. Fri will fly back to Athens & Sat. fly to US---Atlanta,then home. Our hotel here overlooks the water & I got "ferry boat" pics, etc, & sundown on water. Was hoping to put some on blog, but don't think this 'puter will do it after the failed em attempts.Have to share 'puter also. Today we went to island of Delos which has the most & oldest archeological objects in Greece from 1st century BC. There is NO grass (but fields of other plants) in Greece, & on Delos I did see a couple large black birds flying over that was bigger than crow.Asked seaman if he knew what they were & he named the surrounding islands! Evidently didn't know English! His cohorts had a good laugh ☺ Santorini is volcanic & rooms are dug into sides, & I read there are NO trees except those people have planted. Will be shore birds I guess. I did get cam on nowm so one last good night look. Blessings to all.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JIM!!!!On Mykanos, all the bldgs. are white stucco w/rounded corners & blue trim as in the Greek flag. Is sort of a resort place, but the streets are old & rocky & steep. Not my kind of town! Most people have scooters, Smart cars,& some have donkeys! If I stayed here, I'd want one! Daughter found us 2 little toy stuffed donkeys. Of course they are gifts for our kitties! LOL
saw some pelicans this a.m., knew when I saw them it would not be long before the dolphins appeared...and they were just here jumping up and twisiting in the sun:)
Out of here for a few - need to think about and prepare some dinner!
Hope Wanda pulled off her Safari act!! Hope Lolly & Jack are having fun!! Hope Deb gets most of her house painted today !! Glo is off enjoying her family!!
Blog is showing that mostly everyone has 'wound down' from the past days's events!
Hope you're enjoying the Greek vacation, Loreeda. I've heard a lot of good things about the area...some only visit the Greek islands and love them.
I don't know about full size donkeys, especially with saddles, but when I was a kid, somebody got a small burro in the neighborhood, and of course we all had to ride it.... exactly like trying to ride a razor blade on a washboard road!! You'd probably be better off with a light weight donkey cart.
Hi Paula, you snuck in while I was typing! Was so delighted to see Hidey when I got home from church. Heard him this morning before he returned to the nest. Firmly believe it was him we heard last night perched close to or on the mic. Did not see him return to the nest, but apparently it was more a a jump into the nest than a flight and landing.
I haven't examined Wanda's picture yet...but sound like when he came back, that several saw his shadow over the nest....so, Our eaglet has definitely fledged!
No Dana, I didn't see that, but I read all the comments up until this thread...well most of them. I was at my Mom's yesterday and today...just got back around 6 this evening.
I have been watching off and on most of the day, and I haven't seen Hidey leave again. He / she had dinner with parents and took a nap. Has been exercising wings. but has stayed in the nest.
I see he hasn't left the nest this afternoon...and some think he was just up on the branch, while others think he did fledge. My only thought is that I would have thought if he was on the cam branch, that he would have raised a ruckus when Lib and Belle were in the nest with food.
Glad to see Lowreeda checked in! Sounds like she is having a great time!
you could hear him at times in the tree yesterday, but he is such a nervous eaglet and we don't know what branch he was in , he did not sound close by til this a.m.
Good evening everyone. Back from eating Kentucky Grilled Chicken and shopping at Walmart. Has Hidey been behaving herself? I hear her hollering at someone. I hope she stays put for the night. I missed her so much yesterday.
Well, we are back home. I see our baby is still in the nest. Yeah! Got to work now. It was great spending the day with family. Buddy of course had to get in the Captain's seat for a little while!
I think you are right, Paula. I am done painting for today. I just have to do the roof area and it is way too hot to go up there today. I have to bring everything in yet, but decided to come in and order pizza.
I looked in the yellow circle, Paula, and I am not sure. I think it looks like there could be a hundred eagles in that tree. It is so full of shadows and odd shapes. It looks like one of those puzzles in which you're supposed to find odd things!
All you bird lovers should get a hoot out of this one: When I taught kindergarten, I had a little boy with a severe speech problem. He couldn't say my last name: Conley, so he called me, Ms. Condor.

lol.....thought you were out of here:)
Mits does that look like Liberty in nest to you?
Mom. Dad do leave me I have this green stuff stuck on my foot.
that was don't not do
I just check my pictures that was Liberty. Belle has the upside down v like this ^ in the white at her neck. Liberty is more straight.
That bird makes me laugh. It is clumsy. Doing a Margy. Have to go now. Want to say hi to all the new people and stick around.
looks like she/he wants to branch again...
I believe that was Lib, I made a video of it with my camera. Working on it now.
THANKS for the new thread STEVE!!---We were all talking so fast---didn't notice the new thread notice!!----ho!
Hidey branching?
Wanda is was Liberty there at last with Hidey.
Well we can say that this eaglet definitely has its own spot it likes.
Think I will go over & see how the Sidney, BC eaglets are doing. bbl
Maybe it is time for a Sunday afternoon nap.
I just got back from buying the house paint. I just went with plain white, didn't want to have to think about what color to use. The primer looks nice, so I decided to stay with white.

Cool- knew Hidey was fine, and would return when he was ready. Good to see him in the nest.
I agree with you, Helen. I think Hidey never did fledge. He jumped up on the camera and then onto a branch and then came back into the nest the same way. JMHO.
Hidey showed up at 11:16--or at least that is when I first saw the shadow. Then he / she dropped into the nest.
Stevie from Kentucky and Wanda-- I too believe as you can go back and read comments. Hidey never fledged was up in tree. THERE WAS NO FLY IN THIS MORNING. HIDEY "DROPPED" IN IT WAS A "SPLAT" ON ITS SIDE".
yes Wanda, and that tree is so thick with leaves right now, hard to see anything, especially a young eaglet that does not know what to do....
You got that right stronghunter. Shadow from Hidey being on a limb showing in nest.....then SPLAT!
going to watch a little bit of the start of the race at Dover...then head to beach...got some neat vintage planes flying by the condo

Hidey's Home...
Did you hear her (alot) before you saw her? (Was she being vocal)
Was Liberty or Belle already there when she came back? If so, did they show any signs of her impending arrival?
Is that her napping at about the 3/4 o'clock position?
Hi, Tammy, welcome! Yep, that's our Hidey! Now that I can breathe again, and my blood pressure is closer to normal, I'm gonna go and hit the school books for a bit. Will be checking back often. Hope Hidey has pleasant dreams, and gets all rested up!
Nest was empty when Hidey returned. I didn't hear him / her, but I think others did. Then adults showed up and there was a lot of bird talk.
Going to hospital to visit mother-in-law, so glad that Hidey is back. We are also going out to eat. Yum, yum! Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday! Happy Birthday to Jim! Hope Hidey stays in today and rests up. She sure has been vocal today. BBL

I think Hidey tilted the camera some more. You have to turn your head almost 90° to get a look at him now.

Any one know if the little one is male or female.
I think it is ZZ on camera now at S Diego...into the bamboo.

Did you see that practice flying into the wind? If he hasn't fledged, he probably will very soon.

Wow look how high he/she is hoovering.
Evening, all!
When did Hidey return?
Awesome! I see Hidey is home at present!
No Mrs Brad, we don't know gender...
I suspect male because the eaglet is only the size of Liberty. The females are larger.
Happy Birthday, Jim!
Hope you have a great day!
Hidey is laying in the nest, facing the launchpad.
Paula I think around 11:30 this morning. It plopped down into the nest. Did not fly in.
Paula Jo went to the nest. She saw all three and saw Hidey before she knew he was back.
Paula
Did you just see the shadow of the eaglet above landing on a limb??????

SPLAT INTO THE NEST IS HIDEY!!!
Sunday, May 31, 2009 11:19:00 AM
Hi all! We are home. Had a great afternoon. Good wine and good food. No diet, but not really fattening either.
No, we do not know if Hidey is male or female. Can only guess!
Loreeda!!!!! Great to hear from you all the way from across the world. Know you are having a great time. So wonderful to see the world!! I'm jealous!
Anxious for Paula to see and hear Hidey. I am with you guys. I think Hidey accidentally fledged and gradually made his way back to the nest.
OK, I see Hidey made it back today!
I haven't examined Wanda's picture yet...but sound like when he came back, that several saw his shadow over the nest....so, Our eaglet has definitely fledged!
Has Hidey left the nest since he returned this morning?
I read the comment about the gust of wind yesterday morning...apparently taking Hidey out of the nest.
It was exciting to see thr shadow approach, try to land on a slender branch and then drop into the nest.
No Dana, I didn't see that, but I read all the comments up until this thread...well most of them. I was at my Mom's yesterday and today...just got back around 6 this evening.
I hope the NCTC guys have the moment on tape.
Whatever he did, he's eating constantly like he wasn't fed much on his excursion. He's eating again, but I didn't see where he got it.

I have been watching off and on most of the day, and I haven't seen Hidey leave again. He / she had dinner with parents and took a nap. Has been exercising wings. but has stayed in the nest.
Looks like Hidey found a nestover.
Thanks, Strong.
you could hear him at times in the tree yesterday, but he is such a nervous eaglet and we don't know what branch he was in , he did not sound close by til this a.m.
Oh, rats, Nature isn't on PBS tonight.
Lib just arrivedwith a fish!! Hidey grabbed it real quick!!
I have 2 osprey fishing outside the condo tonight, one caught a fish and a black bird started to chase him
parent in the nest!
parent home
Hidey came and left earlier today and then both parents showed. I got pictures of all the action.
Lib grabbed the other nestover...Hidey is having a fit, went over and snatched that too!!
happy Hidey!
Not sure if Hidey grabbed the nestover too, but Lib didn't have it! He split!
I did not see him leave today. When did that happen?
Henry, Hidey left the nest yesterday morning.
What time did he arrive and leave earlier today....no one here saw that from what I have read on the blog.
Good evening everyone. Back from eating Kentucky Grilled Chicken and shopping at Walmart. Has Hidey been behaving herself? I hear her hollering at someone. I hope she stays put for the night. I missed her so much yesterday.
Gotta feed the dogs...back in a few.
Hidey hasn't left the nest since returning this morning.
Hidey is really squawking now.
Sounds like Hiedey wancompany and more foodts
let me try this again,,,,sounds like Hidey wants company and more food
I just started watching a couple of weeks ago and now I am hooked! I can't wait to watch it next time from the beginning. I am obsessed with it!
Hidey just plopped into the middle of the nest, facing 5ish
Megan, love the blue flowers on your avatar.
Thanks, Paula- those flowers are called nigella. One of my favorites, very unusual looking flower.
Gonna run back outside, still unloading the van.
Hidey jumped down around 11:30a.m. and has been there ever since.

SPLAT INTO THE NEST IS HIDEY!!!

Hidey just made some noise.
Well, we are back home. I see our baby is still in the nest. Yeah! Got to work now. It was great spending the day with family. Buddy of course had to get in the Captain's seat for a little while!
Hello all my eagle momsters and dadsters.
So glad to see our Hidey in the nest today.
Our Hidey is growing up.
I looked at Wanda's picture....looks like Hidey may have been on the left of the nest. I circled it in yellow...pic on EM
Eaglet Momsters Blog
Howdy, Tbird and Sharon.
I think you are right, Paula. I am done painting for today. I just have to do the roof area and it is way too hot to go up there today. I have to bring everything in yet, but decided to come in and order pizza.
I'm not in Bluefield now Paula. We all went to the lake today. Sharon heading home and me...I'm in Bedford for work week.
For some reason, the nest looks smaller this evening. I think the camera is moved to the right a little bit, you can see the limb on the right side.
Gotcha, Tbird.
I looked in the yellow circle, Paula, and I am not sure. I think it looks like there could be a hundred eagles in that tree. It is so full of shadows and odd shapes. It looks like one of those puzzles in which you're supposed to find odd things!
Well, maybe not, just looked at older pics and I guess it is the same.
All you bird lovers should get a hoot out of this one: When I taught kindergarten, I had a little boy with a severe speech problem. He couldn't say my last name: Conley, so he called me, Ms. Condor.
