On a sad bird note: I did want to mention from the other thread, and Scottish Wildlife has confirmed, that the youngest chick at Loch of the Lowe's has failed to survive, possibly from the very wet and rainy conditions of the last few days. As Suz pointed out, when the water is muddy from rain it is hard to see or catch any fish, so that might have been a factor too, no food. They do think the 3rd egg is " still hatching ". The other two were hatched on May 15 and May 16.
And I am going shopping today for a variety of tick and mosquito sprays for the 23rd....I'll find to find some good natural remedies...and the usual standbys too. Any suggestions or special requests let me know, either here on via email...
GOOD MORNIN' & THANKS STEVE for the new FROSTY THREAD!!----Thanks #1 gal---MAGPIE---I think I have talked myself out too!!---(that will be the day) ho!---I do have classes this am! -- LIFE IS GOOD!!
I tell ya'll what, this bug just don't want to let go of me!! I have coughed until I feel like my chest is gonna cave it!! Throat is so sore. They put me on antibiotic yesterday, maybe it will kick in before long!!
...and Force fluids Sissy.....and kill the germs with as much rest as you can get ! those medicines should help...Lolly just went through something like this....
Megan for when you come back in. Someone ask in the Journal Junction. How to keep deer from eating their flowers. Someone wrote in and told them. Use 1 gallon of milk mixed with 1 gallon of water. Spray on plants. Deer won't eat them. Megan have you ever heard of that one before?
That is a good question wvgirl. i would like to know the answer to that too...They eat my roses. I did see something adverstised on the tv the other day for rabbits and deer. but dont remember the name of it.. I havent time to Google it....
I read on other thread that vick37 from Mason, WV. Ask for prayers for neck and arm problems. Off from work due to the pain. Says, "Would appreciate prayers as I feel like that may be the only hope before surgery".
Vick you have prayers being said for you. We certainly know about prayers working on this blog.
Lori there were 3 eggs laid Jan 31, Feb 2 and Feb 6. They were deep in the nest bowl. We couldn't see any hatchings. One of the 3 eggs hatched. Although we couldn't see it. We kept looking and listening and hoping for food to be brought in. That way we would know there was a hatch. Finally movement and feeding. Then the best movement of a little bobblehead. We seem our eaglet...some started call the chick Hidey. Due to it was hidden from us for so long. We don't know which of the 3 eggs hatched. The other 2 eggs didn't hatch. So Hidey and some have called him/her Miracle too. As far as knowing where a girl or boy. We don't for sure. Testing DNA has to be done. This will not happen. Our eaglets are not tagged. We think a boy due to its size. A female is much bigger.
Hidey is named that because after she hatched she stayed hid deep in the egg cup to where we couldn't see her. We don't know if it is a boy or girl so we just guess. :)
Ya know, Lori, seems like I do remember using Irish Spring to keep varmits away. Seems like there was other stuff too it was supposed to be good for. Forgot all about that!
Good morning everyone, can't remember who asked for that on the other thread, someone new, I think.....and welcome friends, glad you have stopped by to watch Hidey, when you can find her.
Thanks Sharon and Dana. You can only imagine how many questions I have. I discovered Hidey at 2 days old. I remember that deep egg cup now and how Belle used to smoosh her in it.
I used to call Hidey my VP for virtual pet, then just called her Biden...VP thing. Now she's Hidey & I get tears in my eyes thinking of the day she leaves us.
have heard nothing official from the zoo, except from some of my voulunteer buddies.....we all seem to agree, that Mei is acting exactly like she did last year, and probably with the same results.
I hung the irish spring around my rose bushes.. the deer ate them to the ground .. did NOT touch my neighbors just a few feet away.. soo i had to not grow roses.. this year I am trying the knock-out roses.. so far..so good. and they are sooo very pretty.. STAY AWAY DEER!!!!!!!!!
SHARON!---Getting ready to go to WORK OUT!!---I have heard the soap will keep deer away---& we have several orchards here--JUST ASK MEGAN!---she has fought the deer forever!!----heard on TV from MARTHA-- plant lavender in with other plants in your garden!

Going to be a busy day. Need to get the van washed, also making lasagne to take to Denton to Laurel's. Going to pick up Jacob at school and we are going to another of Joseph's ball games. Have to record Dancing and AI.
ALL, John-John is much better. His cough is NOT as bad and fever broke. His breathing has improved, not as labored. He is going to be release about noon today to go home.HOORAY.. YOUR PRAYERS REALLY HELPED.. YOU GIRLS ARE ALL THE BEST... THANKS FROM ALL THE FAMILY
Aimeecat yes we here can visit where the nest is. Of course, you can't go right up to it. They have it posted to protect the eagles during the time of year they have eggs and hatchings.

Vote Here! It's hard to get a good look at the photo. I'll post a full size version when I get home tonight.
Delphia, good to see you on here. I noticed on facebook, that you are are a rockhound. I have been since I was a little girl. Not an expert or anything...just love pretty rocks. I am gong to send you a photo of a rock I found out west that has formed emerald green crystals...it is beautiful! How's your Diamond Dove chicks?
Good morning, Eagleland folks. Welcome to newbies! So many comments this am!! Lori, you really should join us Sat.! Mariah, so glad to hear that J-J is improving! Lolly, have fun on your busy day! Sharon, don't forget the rehab eagle we saw last fall at NCTC!! Sissy, so sorry you are still feeling so bad. Glad you went to the Dr. and got started on the meds. I apparently tried to poison my Cinnamon again....used a new flea/tick (down the spine area) preparation last evening after finding two ticks....this am she's coughing and scratching...bathed her with a cortisone dog shampoo and gave her Benadryl..,,.sure hope it works...don't want to have to go through the oral cortisone treatment again! Guess she is just too sensitive for ANY of these products. ARGH!
Haven't heard from Chrissy yet regarding the chick at Loch of Lowe's which failed to survive. This is one of her favorite sites and I know how tough this news is to her...special thoughts coming your way Chrissy ♥
@ Costume Lady: Yes, I'm a dabbling rockhound...know a little bit about rocks, and I like to take day trips to collect. One of these days Hubby and I will go to Herkimer NY to collect Herkimer Diamonds (he's from upstate NY).
My Diamond dove chicks are doing really well, all feathered out and eating on their own -- though they still beg any chance they get! I will likely be giving them to my friend Sue, the one with the zoo of her own. I'll miss them but she'll really enjoy them, too.
Ok, Bob, just voted for your beautiful picture! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENIFER! Congratulations Mits on your wonderful grandson news! Hard to keep on with all that is going on here...welcome to all the 'newbies'! Back outside to plant in the garden, it's a gorgeous day here:)
Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I found my snake buddy again yesterday in a flat of plants in the GH. This time I was able to get him scooped into a bucket and have relocated him to a far corner of the garden. I was so pleased with that yesterday til I told hubby and he said, but you realize there's probably another one in here somewhere, probably a bigger one....
Happy Birthday, Jenny! Vick, added you to prayer list!! Bob, going to look at your photos now! Hey, Delphia...long time since you've spent any time with us!! Everything working out with your new abode?? Wanda, my Jenn (who is coming Sat.) has turned into a rockhound----like her grandma was at her age!!! I'm bringing a plastic bag for her in case she finds anything to add to her collection. SIL is planning on making her a rock-washer for her birthday!
Lynn, I forgot...we have a rock tumbler! Must get it out:) I loved doing that. It takes a long time to get them polished, but so much fun. I have a rock that Jenn can have if she doesn't have one. You probably know about it...called Apache Tears. Has a beautiful legend .
well Sharon , I just hope my outdoor furniture is still there, bun-geed it back in September, but never thought it would be this long since I have been down there...taking lap top, but not sure if I remember how to hook it up down there....see ya
This FireFox is getting something like Explorer lately...since a couple of updates....
Like this morning, I opened most everything I wanted, even used some and closed them, viewed more; and then without warning I get a "F.F. has encountered a problem and must shut down"!!
That's been happening once a morning for a week or so???
Maybe I'll try Explorer again; they've got a new version 8 too.
I have been worrying about the same thing. I have been watching since 5 a.m. and I have not seen either parent or any food. Sharon told me to quit worrying, that she would get fed. But, still, I worry!!
Yeah, I feel like I'm in mother mode here. I'm concerened for Hidey. I've been watchin all day too. I didn't know if perhaps I missed some food delivered when I was away from the pc.
Thanks for the warning, Wanda. It's probably one of the graphics settings in "Internet Options," but I don't know which one. Paula might know that one...or Red.
I attempted to figure out Hidey's age, thinking he might be about to fledge, but I got just over 7 weeks, which would make him too young yet.
Maybe they are cutting down on the number of feedings per day (or maybe we missed the morning feeding). They have both been so good at this game for four years now (on-line) that I think they know what they are doing and are doing the right thing.
Plus, I've never seen a better fisherman among all the nests than Liberty is.
WOW!---I got caught up in that SNAKE story---Still not sure who is living with SNAKES!!---(need to mark your name)---I DON'T DO SNAKES---TIGERS MAYBE--BUT NO SNAKES! ho!
I made a comment a while ago and I don't see it, blogger cop or senior moment working on me. Hidey may be in the midst of learning a new lesson in Patience and Hunger. Lib and Belle are very wise:)
Jim, different ones have had alot of trouble w/ the updated IE. I can't say that anything is any worse than with the old one. Some tweaking in accessibility needed, but so far not too bad.

Hidey is really venturing out into new territory this morning ! Almost outta sight at 5 and 6 on the nest
Where is Hidey, where is Hidey? Norma remember out Spunky song?
Megan for when you come back in. Someone ask in the Journal Junction. How to keep deer from eating their flowers. Someone wrote in and told them. Use 1 gallon of milk mixed with 1 gallon of water. Spray on plants. Deer won't eat them. Megan have you ever heard of that one before?
Hidey has found a hiding place. Bottom of cam right hand corner. You could hardly see him. Then he moved a little.
She is really getting out there, every once in awhile you see her head move. Oops, there is her beak!
She/he I'm tinking he sure is a Hidey lol
That is a good question wvgirl. i would like to know the answer to that too...They eat my roses. I did see something adverstised on the tv the other day for rabbits and deer. but dont remember the name of it.. I havent time to Google it....
I'm so happy to hear that you all think he/she is so smart. I've always thought so, and Hidey is my first eaglet.
BTW: do we know if Hidey is a boy or girl and where did the name come from? Obviously, Hidey is a good name this morning.
I read on other thread that vick37 from Mason, WV. Ask for prayers for neck and arm problems. Off from work due to the pain. Says, "Would appreciate prayers as I feel like that may be the only hope before surgery".

About keeping deer out does anyone remember when people used to hang bars of Irish Spring Soap from trees?

Where did Normabyrd disappear to?
Alvin is on my roof again. He is so cute!
Hidey flew back to the nest from the branch!
My heart cannot take this this morning.
Looks like she is hiding and peeking around the tree. She has to live up to her name.
I have a couple of errands to run, be back for lunch!
Ya know, Lori, seems like I do remember using Irish Spring to keep varmits away. Seems like there was other stuff too it was supposed to be good for. Forgot all about that!
Good morning! Yea! I got on. Puter problems! Getting on is iffy.
Wow! Look at Hidey! Up close and personal.

Hi Lori! That is funny..your names for Hidey. Yes, we are all going to miss her. Will wonder where she is, how she is?????
Sorry to hear that about your roses GA-Girl. Can you imagine eating thorns?
My Double Knockout red bush is doing wonderful this year. All that deep root watering with the rain we had...
Oh, Mits! It would be such fun to have another baby panda. The other night I thought for sure something was going to happen.
SHARON!---Getting ready to go to WORK OUT!!---I have heard the soap will keep deer away---& we have several orchards here--JUST ASK MEGAN!---she has fought the deer forever!!----heard on TV from MARTHA-- plant lavender in with other plants in your garden!

Well, I am not sure she sings well enough for that! LOL
You may have read that my 'namesake'--SEN. BYRD should be released from hospital soon--He needs our prayers----
He is the person who helped in getting the NCTC in SHEPHERDSTOWN!
BWO update....
05/19/09:
Another photo to add to the conversation about whether both eaglets are the same size (and thus both female).
And for those who missed the note, both eaglets have now successfully fledged, although they're still spending time at the nest.
LORI---My daughter has a PUG!---HE is so COOL!!
BWO eggs in view
LATER--
well they were in view, osprey is back
There was a little bird in the nest, Hidey moved her wing a little bit and little bird was gone!
Little bird in the nest, Hidey was watching it. It better watch out, she might catch her first breakfast on her own!!
Good Eagleland Morning Mits and Lolly. Later Norma have a good workout.
Kentucky Osprey is feeding her 2 chicks, egg still intact.
magpie: Thanks! I thought it looked rather cheerful. Glad you like it! :-)
CostumeLady: You can actually go to the place where the nest is and visit??
Little bird probably thought it was a pterodactyl.
Yes Norma prayers have been going for Sen. Byrd.
Going to be a busy day. Need to get the van washed, also making lasagne to take to Denton to Laurel's. Going to pick up Jacob at school and we are going to another of Joseph's ball games. Have to record Dancing and AI.
Have a great day!
Yes, AIMEECAT, we can visit the nest. We have to have permission from NCTC first. It is a wonderful experience to visit there!

Where are you from?
GA-Girl, we have a few Eaglet Dadsters on here too.
Have a fun day, Lolly and GOOD LUCK to Joseph and his team!
Aimeecat - the only live eagles I have ever seen are Liberty, Belle and their offspring.
GA-Girl, the eagles must give people on this blog an extra spiritual connection with God because prayers from here are really powerful!
Hidey was right up by the cam, just flew to the noon trunk!
Sorry, would never want to leave out anyone. EVERYONE has been the BEST...
Thanks for the new thread from Maine, Steve. Hope you are enjoying your week!
I see Hidey has been at the cam all morning!
Looks like Hidey is done showing off:)

Looking really good for Saturday! Thanks our lovely Preaching Meteorologist!
Thank you ladies for a beautiful morning. Sharon I love the pic of your blue bird - very pretty.
Paula, thanks for all you do on the Momsters blog. I check it daily. I'd have missed many things were it not for you.
Nice to hear this is a praying group! And a lot of gardeners, too. I love it.
I'm finishing up work then going home to Frederick for a nap!
GA-Girl - My best to your John-John for a wonderful homecoming.
I'll check in this afternoon.

Good Good Morning All!
What a jolt when I opened our cam and there Hidey was - looking me right in the eye! lol I loved it!
Emails are finished and cams have been checked and comments have been read!
Oldest daughter has arrived and we are meeting Aaron and our Birthday Gal, Jennifer, for lunch a little later!
Hidey's not really living up to the name, having hop/flapped over to right under the camera. :)
And hi, everybody.
I wish we had a wide view cam to see just where Hidey is hanging!
Hi Lisa! Close up view - right?!
right!
Hidey right under the cam again! Beautiful!!
And peeping!!!
Happy Birthday Jennifer!!
Happy Birthday Jennifer:)
JO, make sure you tell Jennifer a big happy birthday for us!! Is she coming Saturday?
Itl, a while ago, Hidey was under the camera and out of sight.
I think at least one of the parents are close by. Hidey looks up at someone every once in a while.
That must've given everyone a start, not seeing the little one. (Who's not so little any more.)
Sharon, I was thinking the same thing about a parent.
that flight across the nest--- omg. our little eaglet is .... it's amazing.
wvgal_dana:
I'm a WV gal too :-)
Costume Lady:
Wow! Thanks, that is totally awesome!
That was me Paula, not Sharon! Why is everyone always confusing me and Sharon??? ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺
I am starting to get a complex!!
As you should. You know I am the special one! :)
Hello everybody...just checking in! I see the eaglet is hale and hearty!
Somebody needs to come and feed that baby!!
Wow!! Right into the cam!!
Wow -- a really big leap-hop around the nest!
What's he/she eating?
Hidey found a nestover...
All righty now Bird Girl !

Haven't heard from Chrissy yet regarding the chick at Loch of Lowe's which failed to survive. This is one of her favorite sites and I know how tough this news is to her...special thoughts coming your way Chrissy ♥
We'll vote for you Bob! You're our favorite! :)
Bob You can count on us to vote for one of our Favorite American Idols ! ☺ -
Off to the polls I go....
@ Bob: Great picture!
Hello Delphia. Good to see you on here!
Fabulous picture, Bob....the rest are wonderful too, but of course,
#4 is #1 ! !
Boh that is a BEAUTIFUL picture you entered it has been voted for ( :
Ok, Bob, just voted for your beautiful picture!

Me too Bob, beautiful picture.
Shutting down for awhile, got a project to work on...
See you all later on.
Enjoy....Hidey promises to be a prime source of entertainment now, discovering more that a "Baby Eaglet" can do...
xo TTFN ♥
Oh by the way:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!♫☺♫♫
Delphia can you send us a picture of the diamond doves please.
I'll send pics of my Diamond dove chicks, sure! Gotta run for now...take care everyone!

Be sure to check out Deb's New Photos ☺
Great Snaking Fete, Megan... but good point, where there is one, probably a mate somewhere, Love is in the Air you know, springtime and all ♥ ♥
Aimeecat, my son, Andrew, is moving to Scott Depot probably in July. Going to school at WV State University in Institute.
Beautiful pic Bob!
You have my vote!
Eagle-Eyed Sharon:
Awesome! I hope he does well! What is he going to study?
Sharon is that St. Albans anywhere close to you. Is this another Southern Delegation added for you?
St. Albans is near Charleston, Dana same county, Kanawha...
LOL Megan!
Aimeecat, this will be his 3rd year of college. He is studying music education. His first 2 years were at Concord University.
Megan maybe the other snake will go outside to look for its mate:)
Eagle-eye Sharon:
Cool. Our daughter graduated from Concord. She is now at ECU in North Carolina.
LOL, Margy...I never put SNAKE and LOVE in the same sentence!:( But, you are right, it is Spring;)
So does this mean a bunch of little snakelets are in your future Megan?
Dana.. have you gotten an answer about the deer yet... I hope I havent miss it....

lol, Bob.....the proud momma of little snake-lets
still have to dry my hair and pack car....not looking forward to the 3 hour drive, and unpacking on the other side:(
Wanda, I still have some of my rocks as well as a boxed display of samples that I'm giving her for her birthday.
Oh, Bob, it's beautiful!!! I voted!!
big fish in Loch's osprey nest, just brought it in
Lynn, I forgot...we have a rock tumbler! Must get it out:) I loved doing that. It takes a long time to get them polished, but so much fun. I have a rock that Jenn can have if she doesn't have one. You probably know about it...called Apache Tears. Has a beautiful legend .
finally feeding baby chick
We found many beautiful rocks and stones, along with the Apache Tears near Yellowstone.
Out of here for lunch
BBL
Mits, please be careful...not only traveling but loading/unloading car! Don't aggravate the situation!!
bbl
Mits, please go to the balcony and drink a cup of coffee for me, would ya?
well Sharon , I just hope my outdoor furniture is still there, bun-geed it back in September, but never thought it would be this long since I have been down there...taking lap top, but not sure if I remember how to hook it up down there....see ya
Mits, you can have a glass of wine on the balcony for me :-)
Lisa said she's going to "pimp" for me. She put a note up on the Twitter site and on the OCam page!
"A glass of wine on the balcony...". Ah, that sounds nice.
Has anyone seen either of Hidey's parents today? Has he/she been fed?
This FireFox is getting something like Explorer lately...since a couple of updates....
Like this morning, I opened most everything I wanted, even used some and closed them, viewed more; and then without warning I get a "F.F. has encountered a problem and must shut down"!!
That's been happening once a morning for a week or so???
Maybe I'll try Explorer again; they've got a new version 8 too.

Jim
Both eaglets at BWE again, and one at least is flaked out like he/she's been getting a workout.
Lisa has a new pic showing them together, and I measured them with a pen...they are the same sex.
I was leaning toward them being male again, but this picture gives them a more feminine look.

I have been worrying about the same thing. I have been watching since 5 a.m. and I have not seen either parent or any food. Sharon told me to quit worrying, that she would get fed. But, still, I worry!!
Did you see that!!??
Hidey just flew across the nest, pretty as you please.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Anybody know when he's due to fledge?? He's doing alright inside the nest. Maybe the parents are trying to lure him into fledging.

Jim
Jim, I tried to updat to IExplorer 8 and I haven't seen the Avatars on our blog since. That has been about 2 weeks ago.
Yeah, I feel like I'm in mother mode here. I'm concerened for Hidey. I've been watchin all day too. I didn't know if perhaps I missed some food delivered when I was away from the pc.
I VOTED FOR BOB... OMG.. BEAUTIFUL PICTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jim
Catch ya'll later..
JIm, Hidey is 9 weeks old last Saturday
movin:
Thanks for the encouraging words!
WHOA! ROBERT QUINN---I VOTED for you!!---I didn't recognize the name 'ROBERT' at first!!---That was easy---you have the best entry!!!!-YOU ARE GOOD!!!
Normabyrd, Megan is our snake girl!
Norma, look at Megan's blog, "Whatever" to see her new addition to her greenhouse.
