New thread, Steve, thanks so much! Still stuck at the Clarion. We just found out that they have to take the door apart to get us in. Gathering up the tools now to do it! :(
OMG Sharon! They should give you your room for free after this!
Just getting on to say Good morning! Need to get ready for church and as soon as I get home Tiff will be here. Shortly after that Laurel will get here. Going to be busy this afternoon! More fun! Have a great day and I will be back this evening. Can hardly wait to see the video's Wanda!
HEY SHARON!!---What a BUMMER!!-- (just told you on the old blog)--Tell them you know people in 'HIGH PLACES'-----BELLE & LIBERTY!!!---ho!----Just wanting you to SMILE!!!
MORNIN' HEDGIE!!---I bet you all had a wonderful time yesterday---Wish I could have gone!!---Would loved to have seen SUZANNE!!---How many folks were there?----Beautiful weather---saw a pic of your 'cute' granddaughter!!---hope you had a FUN time---
A white pick up truck was on the screen at NASA for a brief moment... Yesterday we would joke every time the white pick up passed us on the road by the nest!
Feeling very well today. No aches or pains. Sleep like a baby last night!
Thanks JO - - I got you now...I think I was watching Hidey when the truck went by - cause I am watching the NASA on my computer too, gon't hve any fancy channels on my television. HO ! xoxo
I was watching Hidey that last time for the Throat Sounds! Yep, the sounds are coming from the throat - OH MIY DID YOU HEAR THAT Does sound like a sad little pouting puppy!!!
What a strange new noise Hidey is making today! If the Southern Delegation is at the nest, wonder if they can hear any of that!
Lynn - that was a wonderful picture of your Jenn that Wanda put up on her pictures last night ! Beautiful little lady, so glad you brought her. It might take her a little while to catch Eagle Fever....but it was a good start, eh?
Soffitt work going on again...saw and sander noises irritating...think I'll turn on vacuum cleaner to drwon it out! Ha, didn't really want to clean today, BUT...it is what it is. Bet Jo is talking about that pick-up truck that kept driving by us yesterday....he was probably checking to make we weren't breaking any rules!
Hi ALL That Visited Tne NEST !! Great pictures. WOW what a zoom Lori had. I am enjoying the picture. Sorry I didn't make it. So Glad everyone had fun and a nice dinner.
Thinking of what all our Momsters and Dadsters are up to today, and wishing all a Wonderful Day.
Night-time special to watch for tonight:
Gary Sinise - co-hosts a Concert tonight at the US Capitol, think it will be televised at 8 pm on PBS channel Sunday: Gary Sinise will be an honorary marshall in this year's National Memorial Day Parade... that begins at 2 pm ..other events throughout the day including wreath-laying ceremony 11 am at Arlington National Cemetery... Check local listings....
Hi Dana...Good to see you, and wish you could have been with us Saturday. We missed several of our local Momsters, including Megan, Tom and Sandra...glad you can view the pictures, and more will surely come up as time progresses.
Time for me to get another start on the day, watered my Megan Flowers which are about ready to burst into big Marigold Blooms, need to attend to some other things.
Best wishes for everything today: Wellness, Comfort, Peace, Rest, and Loving Family times.
Speaking of wreath-laying ceremony: some gorup has asked Obama to NOT put a wreath on the Confederate part of Arlington National Cemetery. Historically, every other prez has done so....if Obama doesn't do it,too....well, I certainly hope that there will be much backlash. "SAVE YOUR CONFEDERATE MONEY, BOYS...THE SOUTH SHALL RISE AGAIN!"
Hi, Jim! Y'all aren't alone in the shake-rattle-roll department---Alaska has a 4.7 yesterday, too! Wonder if all of this seismic activity MEANS anything...??
Thanks Margy--I tried I really did try---just couldn't mustard it up. Had that baby shower to go to at 2pm. That just took all I could do. I know you know what I mean. hugs & ty (wink)
Hi, Hedgie. There has been a lot of volcanic action, as well as earthquakes, around the Pacific Rim lately.... It probably means something, but the picture is so huge that you can't get glimpse of what's happening in whole.
Sun gone...starting to look stormy out...wonder if this one will miss us like last nights' did? Glad that we aren't near the Pacific Rim, Jim (hey, that rhymes!)...just a little too tenuous a situation for me! I'm not really keen on living onthe edge....ha! Get it? Rim...edge???
Please someone give the poor baby something to drink. Wish I could reach through the computer screen. Have really enjoyed the pictures and videos from yesterday. Thanks to everyone. Gwen
Only have still cam up but looks like Hidey "flew" from one side of nest to the other! He's learning! Gwen...81 degrees here...a bit humid...gotta say that the foliage on the sycamore is not REAL heavy....we joked yesterday about the birds getting sunburned! Hidey has to be hot, for sure! Dad, bring me cool, wet fish!!
WOWSIE! I just signed in and it looks like a very LARGE LATE LUNCH is in the nest. Now if we would only have been able to have cleaned off that smudge on the lens I could see what it is she is eating.
I am interested in hearing Michael's impressions of yesterday... It was a treat to meet Samantha and Elizabeth's grandfather, Christine's father and Patrick's father-in-law all rolled up into one person ☺ ♥
He gets his good looks from his remarkable parents too ☺
that's been pretty rare at Loch Lowe's - might want to have a look at the event - if the chicks drop what she is trying to give them, SHE eats it..it's catch as catch can there.
Glad you gals made it safely!! Are you staying at Thelma's tonight, and then heading home tomorrow? Will you have to take two cars back to Bluefield so that T-bird can get back for work on Weds.??
Nat's beat the O's!!! Whoopee! And Helio Castreneves won the Indy 500 (for the 3rd time)--remember when he won DWTS a couple of seasons ago?
Hi all! I've been watching the baby eagle for weeks now and just noticed that there was a blog. Doh! Does anyone know if it's male or female and how old he/she is? I'm also wondering when they generally leave the nest for the first time. I've noticed over the last couple of days that he's really starting to fly around a bit within the nest.
Welcome Kimm!! We don't know the sex, some of us say she and some he! :) The eaglet, Hidey is what we call this darling baby, hatched on March 14, so 10 weeks old yesterday. We actually visited the nest yesterday and got to see Liberty, Belle and Hidey. It was great. We expect the fledge to be in 1-2 weeks.
Hi Sharon! I'm from Nashville, TN. Gosh, I'd love to see the nest in person. How high off the ground was it? And how were you able to see inside? I'd become obsessed with this little fellow (I think it's a "he") and I'm now keeping a screen open nearly all the time because I don't want to miss his first flight.
I think it is about 80 feet up in the sycamore tree. We can't see in it, just from the road. Yesterday, the mother was above the nest in the tree for about 5 1/2 hours while we were there. Just beautiful!
Have you guys seen the spider that sometimes builds his web over the camera lens at night? He looks HUGE. I haven't seen him in several nights. I hope Hidey ate him! =)
Wanda, he was across the street from where we saw him yesterday. Last night he was in the same tree but had his head inside the tree. Today he was wrapped around a branch.
I have finally posted the first video of the Nest Visit on WILD AND WONDERFUL I have 5 more to go. It takes something like 2 hours for me to get one 3-4 minute vidio posted to Youtube. I don't know if that is standard or if I am doing something wrong. But, It Is What It Is:) I will post Mattie's singing debut for the Eaglet Momsters. It will probably be ready about 9pm.
Sharon would probably not tell this story, but, yesterday, she came up to the Eagle Express and said "Wanda come quick, you have a friend down here waiting to see you" (or something to that effect). Of course, when I got there it was that UGLY SNAKE! It was fascinating to watch him twist and turn and crawl around that limb and into the vine.
I've been wondering where the parents are when they aren't in the nest. It's comforting to know that Mom is staying nearby. He's really exercising those beautiful wings today!
I linked to the eagle-cam in the middle of night a couple of weeks ago and saw two big solid looking things blocking my view. I called hubby over and said, "Those look kinda like spider legs, don't they!?" He pooh-poohed me and said they were twigs. A minute or so later the spider moved and covered nearly the whole lens. It TOTALLY freaked me out and I had to shut the thing down. I'm absolutely TERRIFIED of spiders. Ugh!
Well, Spidey evidently knows how to pick out the good digs! He found a big, sturdy tree with its very own bug-attracting night light. Now I'm wondering if that smudge on the lens is actually a spider egg. If it starts dissolving into baby spiders then I'll have to find a new hobby! =)
A beautiful white tailed deer just strolled down the far back of the yard towards the creek. Was hoping that maybe a fawn would be following but no such luck.
I don't know what happened to my video. When I first put it on, it played perfectly. Wish Paula were here...maybe she would have some idea of what has happened. I am uploading another video to youtube right now...don't know if that would have anything to do with it or not. I'm checking it out:(
Hidey watching but not trying for any. Sure is much lighter there than it is here in the woods! Sharon, the ticks were crawling on the road? How wierd is that! Were you doing a jig? Maybe your ankle bracelets put them on the move...LOL!
Haven't heard anything that would be embarassing to anyone, yet;) The only thing embarassing that I heard was Gene asking our waiter if he could dance and the kid got all flustered. GENE IS BAD! Kid said "I can't dance, I have to work".
Yep, I missed all of you too! I was happy to see Thelma, Sharon and Mattie. Posted a few pics of my mkt. stand on my farmers mkt. blog- wish I could get a pic without my wreck of a van in the shot. Headed to the shower then bed...been up since 3:30 am, really starting to drag. Peonies are cut, plants are watered, this day is done for me. I will bid as high as $500- but I will be paying in Monopoly money:)
Back from my "East Coast Cruzers" gathering at Susquehannock State Park and Conowingo Dam!
WE SAW EAGLETS AND EAGLES AND JUVIES!!
Had a wonderful time...gonna try and look at some pics...you really need a nice camera to get pics at the dam, but we saw adults and juvies, heron, cormorants, osprey, vultures...a really neat time!
We went to 2 other nests...saw 2 juvies in one and 3 in another...the one with 3 was on an island in the river...we were able to trek down the riverbank and get a nice close look, they looked to be about 10 weeks old - got some nice pics of them. Saw some flying from an overlook also...really pretty area.
Yes, that makes sense. Thanks Sharon! She looks pretty itchy! I noticed a lot of bugs (flies, etc.) on her food earlier, i guess with the warmer weather they will come out!
The bugs are probably a result of the garbage and excrement in the nest! Paula, sounds like you had another great day! Port Deposit is near where we went to church camp as teens. I remember a marvelous dairy farm near town that we visited, but not much else.
Mattie's singing debut for the Eaglet Momsters, is now ready. The video is dark, but you will recognize everyone. MATTIE said she was nervous because we were all looking at her. She should know we are all her friends and we love her! YOU GO MATTIE!
Sounds like a fantastic day for Paula...probably already sawing logs....and she got to see more Orioles...after seeing her first Baltimore Oriole at NCTC ! ☺
Megan's pics are great too ! Now to dash over to Wanda's video..
Lolly, we have some more videos yet to be posted, with you on the table and you did have a good time, got just a little tipsy. I let you know when it is ready. Probably sometime tomorrow. My eyes do not want to cooperate with my fingers. I'm trying to type and my eyes are trying to close...guess it must be bedtime.
Looks like I am going to miss some of you....already looking for those pillows!
You be sleeping, I be working.... see you in the morning light.
Ms Bookworm Andrea : if you hop on tonight: your post from 12:42 "our time" this morning was fabulous......"Well, prayers being said...." - lovely message.
Best wishes to all for a sound and restful sleep. Many thanks to the Lord for the wonders and beauty of the day.
Thanks, Mattie, for our nice entertainment, and Gene for filming, and Wanda for posting!! Heading for the tub. Sorry Lori hasn't been on today---hope she's figuring out how to post pics!!! Goodnight. Peace and prayers! Have a good shift, Margy....glad it'll be a short one!
Hidey is flaked out crossways to the camera at about 1 o'clock, and there is a ring of 'Spirit Eagles' surrounding the nest tonight. Haven't seen the Spirits in a while.
Glad those of you who trekked to see the eagles today had a good time. Sounds fun.
First there was a lot of splashing and underwater surging, like an animal chasing fish, which turned out to be a large Otter, which is the first time at the Pond.
The Otter proceeded to root around in the foliage along the shore until it worked around to the side of the camera hut and passed it heading to the left...
Next thing you see is two large animals grappling and churning around below and above the water in what looked like a life and death struggle... I thought that Fatty the Croc had gotten a hold of the Otter, but it turned out to be a medium sized Water Monitor. And after a time, it looked like the Otter got the upper hand. It kept after the Monitor until it was trying desperately to swim away...repeatedly until it got dragged down again.
I think the reptile finally got enough air to escape under water, but it looks like the Otter was rooting in the foliage again, and in the same area...
Back to the action .... if they are still focused on it.
Hi, movin' Jim, I just came by to check on Hidey before trying to get some sleep, and read your description of the otter/water monitor fight! Wow, that must have been something to see! Absolutely amazing! Sure appreciate your posting that. Hidey is perched on the edge of the nest at 3:00, wide awake and preening. Spidey is nowhere to be seen right now, which makes eaglet watching a lot easier. Think I'll hit the hay for now. Goodnight, and God Bless! :o]
Good Memorial Day Morning. Special Day...one of the most special days in the Calendar year. I hope we have many reminders of the Blessings of Freedom that those who have died have helped secure for us. Special Wishes for all Veterans also. ♥
I need to add this: Special loving thoughts for the families of those who have died in service to our country, and to all family members of our Veterans and active Military personnel as well.
Where would we be without all these wonderful people...

Jo, how are you feeling today? Any aftereffects from being upon your leg for so long yesterday? Hope not! You are doing so great!!
Sounded like a sneeze!
God Bless You, Hidey !
A white pick up truck was on the screen at NASA for a brief moment...
Yesterday we would joke every time the white pick up passed us on the road by the nest!

Bet Jo is talking about that pick-up truck that kept driving by us yesterday....he was probably checking to make we weren't breaking any rules!
That was it Hedgie!
We were going to start charging him as many times as he passed us. I didn't really think it was a security vehicle.
OK must straighten up a bit - you know - clear off the table! Last evening I just plopped everything down!
Did you eat that cheesecake or give it away, Hedgie!
Steve sounds like you really had a great trip.

WAY TO GO!!!! NCTC is # 1 on Beakspeak for Yesterday and # 1 for last 7 Days.....Contragulations Group Keep Up the GOOD WORK!!!
Sun gone...starting to look stormy out...wonder if this one will miss us like last nights' did?

Lynn-Hedgie I just sent you a test email.
Please someone give the poor baby something to drink. Wish I could reach through the computer screen. Have really enjoyed the pictures and videos from yesterday. Thanks to everyone. Gwen

Okay, Dana...came through fine, and was able to respond! TY. Now I'll see if I can open the rest.
Managed to read half-dozen of the yahoo mails and then everything stopped loading again. Logged back out and will retry later.
WOWSIE! I just signed in and it
looks like a very LARGE LATE LUNCH is in the nest.
Now if we would only have been able to have cleaned off that smudge on the lens I could see what it is she is eating.
Most of you must be at picnics or watching the races, baseball games or other sports on TV. Staying cool I hope.
Hidey still going strong on her feast!
Adult in nest....food????
Yep, think so!
Hidey is tearing into it, as is Belle/Lib.
You could see that Fly Up to the Branch coming!
Now all that food is all mine- says Hidey.
Hidey is crunching away!
Our mic is sound sensitive!
Think I'll sit back for an hour before company comes!

Feeding time at Magpies Roost too...snack before bedtime before work at midnight for 6 hours...
I feel like Lolly - just chatting away....
Isla done at Loch Lowe's - she usually is done way before the chicks are
Hidey seems to be in peaceful reflection of the beautiful surroundings of home
Catch you all later....
Hope the rest of the afternoon is a splendid one...
Hope to hear from the Southern Delegation soon..
Safe travel wishes for everyone, and prayers for Wellness...
xo
Good afternoon/evening everyone! I am happy to report we are now in Bedford! Yeah! Buddy was tickled to see us for sure.
I added my recent captures to the May album...keep forgetting to do that, but Margy reminded me!! Thanks, Magpie!

Must have brought food, I actually saw mantling for the first time!
Big Bird has left....
Okay now Good Night
When we were at NCTC this morning, there was a man there with a video camera, works for NCTC, and was waiting on a food drop so he could film it!

There were ticks crawling all over the road and the snake was still in the tree across the street.
I think it is about 80 feet up in the sycamore tree. We can't see in it, just from the road. Yesterday, the mother was above the nest in the tree for about 5 1/2 hours while we were there. Just beautiful!
Sharon, was he in the same tree? He must live near-by.
But, It Is What It Is:)
I will post Mattie's singing debut for the Eaglet Momsters. It will probably be ready about 9pm.
HAVE WE SEEN SPIDEY? HAVE WE EVER!!! He is creepy and annoying:(
And I don't think Spidey is near as big as he appears. Been spinning beautiful webs lately though. :)
Kimm, Mom (Belle) was directly above Hidey on a limb for nearly 5 hours, without moving, while we visited the Nest yesterday!
Ugh!
Now in my personal opinion, gnocchi needs to be spelled nyocchi!
Is there a way to tell Liberty and Belle apart? One just dropped off dinner.
Belle is much larger than Liberty.
Hi & Welcome Kimm. Spidey has been with us since 2006!
Wanda - having trouble on Wild & Wonderful seeing a link! Check it
out for me...Thanks.
Sharon - happy to have read you got to Bedford! I am sure Buddy was happy to see you all but I bet Thelma was the real happy camper!
Kimm, I think the first time I ever blogged in 2006 was because Spidey appeared on the cam! :)
Hello Hidey!
Jumped up on perch to be the
Cam Ham!
What a fine specimen of an eaglet!
Actually, Kimm, there is no night light, it is an infrared light in cam, night vision type of thing. The eagles can't see the light, just us.
A beautiful white tailed deer just strolled down the far back of the yard towards the creek. Was hoping that maybe a fawn would be following but no such luck.
Wow! Night vision? That's awesome....High tech spying at its best!
HIDEY - Eagles DON'T
FLY AT NIGHT !!
I don't know what happened to my video. When I first put it on, it played perfectly. Wish Paula were here...maybe she would have some idea of what has happened.
I am uploading another video to youtube right now...don't know if that would have anything to do with it or not. I'm checking it out:(
Oh, yeah, Mema Jo, we saw a good poop shoot when we were there this morning! :)
Lucky you!
Adult in the nest
Adult helping get rid of the left overs!
Try it again, Jo...before it disappears again! Did you get to see it, Sharon?
Adult back--more food? or working on nestovers?
Hidey watching but not trying for any. Sure is much lighter there than it is here in the woods!
Sharon, the ticks were crawling on the road? How wierd is that! Were you doing a jig? Maybe your ankle bracelets put them on the move...LOL!
Watching it right now, Wanda!
Just don't put any on here when I was talking about people! :)
I have the one with Mattie singing, uploading right now. It should be done around 9-9:30pm.
Video came thru Great, Wanda!
Haven't heard anything that would be embarassing to anyone, yet;) The only thing embarassing that I heard was Gene asking our waiter if he could dance and the kid got all flustered. GENE IS BAD! Kid said "I can't dance, I have to work".
I'm glad, Jo. Hope it doesn't happen again. The videos to come are more interesting:)
WHat....you were talikng about people...now where is that footage?
I am paying to have it destroyed! :)
OC Boardwalk is a MASS OF PEOPLE!
I will start the bidding for that video at $100
We sure did miss you, Megan. But, we all understand that work comes first!
DO I HEAR $200??
Thelma is blackmailing me with hers!
I talked to Mits last night. She is sooooo enjoying those girls!
Wanda, video turned out great, kiddo!!!
Evening, all!!
Had to watch out for the horse and buggies!
We need to take a road trip there sometime!
Got home in good time...about 8:15, got to throw the balls for the dogs.
Oh, and we had dinner at a place on the river...really cool...was in Port Deposit.
Oh, and there were a ton of orioles at the park!
Good Evening everybody. Does anybody know why Hidey keeps shaking her head? Is it night bugs or what?
Gab, I saw her doing that last night too and I am pretty sure I saw bugs flying around her head.
Yes, that makes sense. Thanks Sharon! She looks pretty itchy! I noticed a lot of bugs (flies, etc.) on her food earlier, i guess with the warmer weather they will come out!
Have a good Memorial Day tomorrow!
The bugs are probably a result of the garbage and excrement in the nest!
Paula, sounds like you had another great day! Port Deposit is near where we went to church camp as teens. I remember a marvelous dairy farm near town that we visited, but not much else.
Good evening!!!! Company is gone! We had a fantastic time. Now I am enjoying the peace and quiet.
Looks like there are pictures and videos for me to check out.
Mattie's singing debut for the Eaglet Momsters, is now ready. The video is dark, but you will recognize everyone. MATTIE said she was nervous because we were all looking at her. She should know we are all her friends and we love her! YOU GO MATTIE!
Back from watching a TV show
Spidey just jumped in the middle of the cam and then disappeared.
I see Hidey around 3:00 position
Going to Wanda's to see Mattie's performance.
Great performance from Mattie
What a wonderful day we had!
Enjoyed the video's Wanda. I need to learn how to load videos.

Now to dash over to Wanda's video..
Falling asleep sitting here.

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE

Ms Bookworm Andrea : if you hop on tonight: your post from 12:42 "our time" this morning was fabulous......"Well, prayers being said...." - lovely message.
Best wishes to all for a sound and restful sleep. Many thanks to the Lord for the wonders and beauty of the day.
God Bless Us, Every One xo ♥
(Two adults and two chicks still visible at LW....Finland Water cam still stuck on Saturday 1604..)
Good Night All ! I gotta clock in at midnight
Hidey is not in the nest this evening. Do you think it's on a branch near the nest?
P.S. Okay, Wanda, spill....what did Jack tell you about your rock????
Hidey is still at 4 o'clock, hard to see though.
Good night and sweet eagle dreams, my friends of fine feathers and fur!
Hidey is flaked out crossways to the camera at about 1 o'clock, and there is a ring of 'Spirit Eagles' surrounding the nest tonight. Haven't seen the Spirits in a while.
Glad those of you who trekked to see the eagles today had a good time. Sounds fun.

Wow. I just saw a battle royal at Pete's Pond.

Hidey is up and at 'em. Hopping around to his favorite spots in the nest, waiting on breakfast chow.
I'm headed to bed....time for sleep. See Everyone Later...
xox ☺ ♥
I need to add this: Special loving thoughts for the families of those who have died in service to our country, and to all family members of our Veterans and active Military personnel as well.
Where would we be without all these wonderful people...
xo
Good morning to everybody in eagle land. Hidey is working on nestorations this morning.
