I have been reading Larry's blog on the Loon Site...he is a very interesting writer. He has problems, as we do, with his heart when something appears to be happening to his BABY;) The loon cam is down now, I haven't had a chance to see the #2 chick this morning....any of you?
Ed's cousin lives Lake of the Woods in Virgnia. We get to see and hear the Loon's when we visit there. I love sitting out on their screened in porch listening to them. They've had an eagle down there also.

Morning, Dana. I would love to see and hear a loon. Sooo many wonderful things out there to see, some we never will, but can always HOPE and then, when we do, it is AMAZING!
Wanda, my answer would be the very first time we drove to the sycamore tree and I saw a real eagle for the first time but it was so special because it was one of our eagles!
Capt. Gene was discovered to have 2 small hernias on his last doctor visit. He has an appointment with a surgeon Monday to see if they should be operated on. Lord have mercy, I hope not! I would have to send him to CEIL NIGHTENGALE'S house;)
The first time I saw Bald Eagles was in Alaska. It was a nest near Talkeetna and one parent was feeding the eaglets. Beautiful country, too, and I became an eagle lover at that moment.
True Wanda they don't always make good patients. Although we love and will be right there to care for them. I know that certainly is true with you and Gene too.
Well, that is a great question Wanda! I think it probably is like Sharon, our eagle was probably the most awesome site! But we saw a loon at the lake a couple of weeks ago and it was beautiful too.
If you all could add to your prayer list a 21 yr. old young man named David. I met his father who has brought him to the Wellness Center hoping some of the machines will help his son. I didn't get nosey and ask what his problem was. I could see with some assistance he can stand out of the wheelchair. He has one hand and arm that is not useful. I seen the father getting his water. Which the son drank through a straw. I didn't see him holding the glass. I ask the father if it was ok to put David on our prayer blog. He said yes. As I go I will watch for David and his Dad. To see how things are going so I can let you know. You might not hear anything for awhile. Although please pray for this young man. Thank you.
It's awful dark at the loon nest today, isn't it?? I did get to see one of the babies "fall" into the water after mama this morning - then the camera seemed to have gone down - Glad to see it's back up -
Good Morning, Lori - and Dana, Sharon, Wanda, Norma & Deb (Since I missed ya before!!)
When we were clearing trees to build our house. we had one that had baby owls in it.. they were still there when we moved in. two of them. they would fly all around us at times late in the day

Don't they stick around the nest for the next 6 weeks or so while Mommy & Daddy teach them to hunt??? That's what I understood from a program I've seen last week on eagles - I also understand the starvation rate is about 50% for fledging eaglets - Hope they are wrong about that!!
That's what they say Beaux. The parents may even fly around the nest with food in their talons.
I think Hidey will probably fledge next week...
Has anyone seen any hovering in the nest yet? And by that, I mean taking off and flying above the cam and coming down 5-10 seconds later? Once you see that, you know it won't be long!
Good morning all. Had one terrible time getting this computer to start this morning. Going to go look at the cams. My best experience was going to the nest and seeing our eagles. BBL Just wanted to wish you all a great day. Wanda hope they don't have to operate on Gene's hernias. If they do you will be a great nurse. Had to lol at Margy's typo. diving instead of Divine.

Good morning, Momsters and Dadsters! Another dreary day here. Deb, video of loon hatch was great! TY. Did you hear that there was 7.1 quake in Honduras? That's a big one!
Good morning! Worked in the yard yesterday afternoon. Then towards evening on the spur of the moment invited our new neighbors over to sit out back. We sat out there til 9:30. (And, we had not had supper!!) It was great. They are a neat couple and their two girls played on the tree swing. They love the outdoors and will be great neighbors.
Saw Wanda's great question about nature. There is so much! But, I will go along with Deb on Alaska. We did a small ship cruise up there with a naturalist and a nature photographer. Watching whales, glaciers calving, and the eagles. Oh my! One morning I stepped out of my cabin and saw a bald eagle swoop down and get a fish!
Hope it's a great one in all our Eagle Corners of the World.
Saw those leaves coming in, thought maybe it was a decoy to lead Hidey away from the Real Food.
Loon cam not too bright for me this morning, but sure like all the Loon News on here...
Great pictures everyone, if I have failed to mention that...and the Loon Hatch video from Deb - way cool.
On and off this morning, trip to the grocery store on the schedule...With the gal pal that likes to shop and always buys me strawberries ☺
Prayers for all new needs mentioned here and last thread.
See you all later....Happy Wildlifing...
I'm thinking of answers to Wanda's question. This might not be my favorite, but worth mentioning: The sound of a Spring Gobbler gobbling in the early morning of Spring....
Jack and I were just pondering your question, Wanda. (Great question!) There is just so much that it is hard to say. A lake in the Colorado mountains...one that you can see only by hiking to, standing on a cliff and see the BIG SUR for the first time, the Sequoias, a whale diving, standing on the cliffs of Moher in Ireland, calving of a glacier. All of these experiences are just too wonderful and hard to say which was more wondeful.
Good Morning ALL ! A special hello to that eaglet that is being the Cam Ham this am. Next week is my guess also as to when Hidey will take off. Sure will miss that eaglet!
Wanda - at my age there are too many wonderful things that I have witnessed in nature to even think of one special event! But our eagles would sure be high on the list!
Wanda - the foxes (Mr & Mrs) have returned to Jennifer's yard area. She should get some good photos again this year like last. She feeds them peanuts and they love them! lol
Good morning friends...have been gone for a while...GLUED to the Loon Cam. Second egg hatched last nite and now the platform and nest are empty...both parents and chicks are in the water...and are not expected to hang around much more - they are going to leave the cam up for a little while...but for the most part, this year's loon adventure is over...with 2 eggs hatching successfully - and now off to thier new lives...what a wonderful site that was...i am hoping to be able to see our Hidey fledge...but since i can only catch a bit at a time because of work schedule...? Hope are all well and just wanted to let you know I am still out here watching when i can....take care ....as always...best to you all.
Some friends of our were living in Japan. They took a trip and stayed at a hotel. When they arrived and were checking in fish were delivered for the kitchen. They ordered a meal to be delivered to the room. When the meal came, Russ had to sample it, to approve it. The fish was still quivering!!!!!! He tasted and approved. He was proud of himself but more proud of his two children who did not say a thing!
Now THIS is something you won't see unless maybe hanging upside down into an eagles nest lol The feeding of an eaglet. GREAT WEBCAM !!! Have I ever told anyone hee hee I love the LIVE FEED !
We love to travel and have seen a lot! Jack was fortunate to be nominated to a sub NATO committee and we got to travel to Europe many times and to many European countries.
BANGKOK (AP) - A panda at a zoo in Thailand may have been expecting, but zoo officials weren't.
And today, Chinese experts say the day-old panda whose birth took zoo keepers by surprise yesterday is a healthy female who's bonding well with her mother.
Officials say the tiny cub "cries very loudly and she breast-feeds from her mother very well."
The zoo had tried for years to get its pandas to mate. They held a mock wedding for the pair, put the male on a diet to make him more enticing and every resorted to showing him "porn" videos of pandas mating.
They finally turned to artificial insemination in February. Staff had noticed a rise in the mother's hormone levels, but couldn't make out a fetus in the ultrasound. Panda births are difficult to detect and reports of false pregnancies are common.
I just noticed the door to our costume storage building is open. I'm going to check it out (with gun in hand). If I don't get back on here in 30 minutes...put out a Silver Alert:)
That is what I was thinking too, Mits. I would end up shooting myself. Don't have much experience with guns. Can't seem to picture Wanda as a gun-packing momma!
Looking at the Loon cam. Did see one Loonie on the back of parent earlier. That plant does look like it has a bloom stalk. Would love for them to leave it on long enough to see it bloom.
First time I have had someone to break in and LEAVE something:) LOL I'm not certain the door was closed...Gene may have been airing out the building and forgot to shut the door. Can't imagine someone kind enough to bring me a present and BREAK IN to do it.
Since OUR group prayers seem to so often be answered, decided to post this email I got this am from a friend, who got it from a friend....
Hello,
My granddaughter, Colleen, who is graduating June 5th, just called me to tell me that one of her dear friends, Angel, has had a extremely serious seizure which has left this 18 year old totally incoherant and does not recognize anyone.
Angel was suppose to walk across the stage next week to receive her high school diploma. Now she is hospitalized at Shady Grove, Maryland and her mother sees no hope for Angel.
Please, please those of you that have a prayer chain, a prayer group, let all of your chain, group know of Angel’s plight and pray, pray, pray.
Please pass this request on
Catherine Schaeffer, Assistant Manager Long & Foster Institute of Real Estate Baltimore Regional Training Center 1312 Bellona Avenue Suite 303 Lutherville, MD 21093
I had a gun, Sissy. I stood outside the door and said "If someone is in there, come out with your hand over your head, then run away from me quickly or I will shoot and I MEAN IT! Felt foolish threatening myself;)

Weekend has become a favorite word of mine, Wanda, I am looking forward to another!
STORK SITE--CLOSED
Good morning everyone!!
My loon cam is black right now, must be having more technical difficulties. Hidey is working that stick over this morning!
Been watching Pete's Pond a little, might be a little too "wild" for me, though. I like warm and fuzzy loving nature, not eat or be eaten so much!!
I have seen a few loons, Norma, but not that many. If you go to Nest Pictures, there is a short clip of the Loon chicks.
HERON SITE---is wild this am---sounds as if a train may be going thru---I enjoy watching---
Hey Deb, anything exciting planned for the weekend? We live vicariously through you, ya know!!
Hidey is working really hard to rearrange her room.
dont know what happened to the loon cam. was looking at the 'empty nest' and then it was black. Hidey must be hungry.. gnawing on that stick..
Thanks--DEB!--Will check!--
SISSY---Flip on FULL SCREEN at LOON & you can barely see the site---It looks as if the SUN went down!---Last time I checked---MOM-DAD & 2 LOON LOONS were in the water---
i didnt realize just how beautiful loons are.. how can you tell the male from the female?
I have sworn off any fun this weekend, no matter how tempting! We'll see if it holds up. I need to get some stuff done around the house before summer gets into full swing.
SISSY--You are so RIGHT!!!---I just keep telling her when I grow up---I want to be just like her!!--She--is a JEWEL!---have learned so much from her---
We were checking last night on the differences--they are the same, except the male is slightly bigger than the female.
Norma, I learn so much from Roger and Mary, then I am able to pass it on.
Good Morning Eagleland and those watching.
Have to catch up on comments.
As for Beakspeak we are:
3rd for Yesterday
1st for Last 7 Days
thanks Deb.. they are really pretty. we were in Cherokee NC this past weekend. We stopped at the State Parks, they all had Mallard ducks and lots of babies.. they were sooo pretty.. and of course I forgot my memory card in my camera... I always do something like that.. sounds like a good reason to go back..
Oh me bad girl haven't been here much yesterday. Needed that reminder thank you Norma to VOTE BOB I just did again.
AWESOME--DEB!
I have been reading Larry's blog on the Loon Site...he is a very interesting writer. He has problems, as we do, with his heart when something appears to be happening to his BABY;)
The loon cam is down now, I haven't had a chance to see the #2 chick this morning....any of you?
Ed's cousin lives Lake of the Woods in Virgnia. We get to see and hear the Loon's when we visit there. I love sitting out on their screened in porch listening to them. They've had an eagle down there also.
MORNIN' DANA!---I wondered where you were this am---How is ED this am---pray he is better!!----I have work-out classes today---but today I got dressed BEFORE sitting down at the blog---Just need to put pants & shoe---ready to go!---ho!
Morning, Dana. I would love to see and hear a loon. Sooo many wonderful things out there to see, some we never will, but can always HOPE and then, when we do, it is AMAZING!
Squirrel and Alvin at my BIRD feeders!
Hi Norma and Wanda Ed goes for CT Scan w/contrast tomorrow 3:00 then June 10th breathing test and see's dr. about all of results.
I guess a good question for all of us on here would be: What is the most amazing or wonderful thing you have seen in nature?
Dana, prayers for a GOOD report for Ed.
Wanda, my answer would be the very first time we drove to the sycamore tree and I saw a real eagle for the first time but it was so special because it was one of our eagles!
Morning GGal, Margy (on earlier), Sharon, Norma, Wanda, Deb and
Sissy. Hope I didn't leave anyone out that is on this am.
Yes I too live through Deb and others. Through their great pictures and interesting adventures/trips.
Capt. Gene was discovered to have 2 small hernias on his last doctor visit. He has an appointment with a surgeon Monday to see if they should be operated on. Lord have mercy, I hope not! I would have to send him to CEIL NIGHTENGALE'S house;)
blog is eating my words!---(guess better than me having to do it) ho!
The first time I saw Bald Eagles was in Alaska. It was a nest near Talkeetna and one parent was feeding the eaglets. Beautiful country, too, and I became an eagle lover at that moment.
WANDA---you can hear a LOON call at that site---
True Wanda they don't always make good patients. Although we love and will be right there to care for them. I know that certainly is true with you and Gene too.
Yes, Sharon, I would have to agree. That was one of my most special moments. The eagle is so AWESOME in real life!
Deb, you have seen so much WILD LIFE, what is you most memorable?
words taken from LARRY'S LETTER this am announcing the arrival of LOON 2-----
...once again one must wonder---can it get any better than this?
DEB---We have seen EAGLES in our area for many years now!---One must look for them---but folks along the river see them daily!!
Norma, read back a little bit about Alaska!
Oops, meant Wanda read back a little!
Well, that is a great question Wanda! I think it probably is like Sharon, our eagle was probably the most awesome site! But we saw a loon at the lake a couple of weeks ago and it was beautiful too.
But I was truly most excited---when I first saw the NCTC nest & EAGLES!!!!!
Thank you.
SISSY---back to my note---(taken from LARRY'S LETTER)---
Has Mama brought Hidey breakfast yet???
I was just thinking of holding Gabby, the sick Osprey, last summer. That is way up on the list, too.
MOST WONDERFUL THING in NATURE---watching & thinking -- 'does it get any better than this'---
'NATURE' IS THE MOST WONDERFUL THING IN NATURE!!
Oh boy!! Heart attack!!
Great wing exercising there Hidey.
Deb, to see an eagle and Alaska at the same time WOULD BE AWESOME! Almost more than your heart can handle:)
DANA---Will keep DAVID & ED in my thoughts & prayers---GOD BLESS--
Sure will do that, Dana. Sweet of you to think of him.
OUr handsome Hidey is being a cam ham. He gets more handsome day by day.
Morning, all!
time to finish dressing---later!
ps---can see loon now--
Good Morning Paula and off with you Norma see you later maybe.
"Those who contemplate the beauty
of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. Rachel Carson "The Sense of Wonder."
Morning, Paula - hate to differ with you, but I think our Hidey is a girl --- unpredictable and head-strong!! And awful pretty!!!
There are the loons!
Hey Everyone,
Dana, Sharon, Wanda,
Norma, Paula Beaux, Deb -
Yes, Hidey is the most beautiful eaglet on the continent!
No problem, Beaux, since we don't know, Hidey can be male or female!
Flitting about the nest now.
Morning, Dana Deb and Lori!
How did your pics turn out Lori?
Has anyone seen if she's eaten breakfast yet?? She's hadn't up til 6:30 - I went back to bed!!!
Hidey just had the head bobbing thing. I ain't going to be long folks!
Sorry, I forgot Norma who just left and Wanda!
It is fun to guess what our Hidey is. The good thing is you will never know if you are right or wrong, she/he will just be what you want!
I am off to work, BBL!
Beaux - my thinking in male is based upon size. Hidey compares to Lib in size...he's smaller than Belle.
Time to dig and play with sticks.
Good Morning, Lori. Good to 'see' you again:)
Hey Paula - pictures came out great though mine will take a lot of cropping to give them some composition. :)
YOU had some fabulous photos! Thanks for sharing them.
I think of you at the X of Routzahn and is that 26?
Bye, Deb.
How's Ed feeling, Dana?
Hi Wanda - tell Gene hello. Thanks so much for sharing your motor-home on Saturday.
Someone at the Carriage House said their brother was at Black Hill Park in Boyds and that there were 4nesting eagles.
Tummy's talking to me. BBL
Good Morning everyone
It's awful dark at the loon nest today, isn't it?? I did get to see one of the babies "fall" into the water after mama this morning - then the camera seemed to have gone down - Glad to see it's back up -
Good Morning, Lori - and Dana, Sharon, Wanda, Norma & Deb (Since I missed ya before!!)
It was our pleasure, Lori, and hope you join us again!
Wanda love the name Chloe for the 1st loony:)
Deb, video was great
He is just gorgeous when he turns his neck around like that. Looks very masculine that way.
Later Deb, Morning Beaux63 and Lori.
Paula I too think Hidey is a male. By his size from the other eaglets we have had. Although like you said he/she can be whatever anyone wants.
Good Eagleland Morning Mits.
Bob pictures from other thread are awesome as usual. Wanda see those foxs?
Mits see any dolphins yet?
I don't know, Lori - kinda reminds me of Linda Blair when he/she does that!!!!
Hidey pecked the camera early around 5:30 or so this morning - got an eye to eye view of him/her - BEAUTIFUL!!!
How cool. He's 11 weeks tomorrow. Any guesses on when he flies?
I have only seen 1 dolphin, Dana, but it has been foggy and a little rough...prayers for your new friend David.
Larry the Loon man does have a way with words...season will end soon, he says
Hey Mits sorry I forgot you earlier... forgive me.
Sure is, Lori.
I am going to say fledging is going to take place in the next week.
Does anyone know, now that he/she is about ready to fly, will Mommy and daddy withhold food more often now to encourage fledging????
With the Flap-fests I've seen the past day or two, I wouldn't be surprised if he/she took off right after breakfast!!!
My b-day is tomorrow but that's the last thing I'd want is for Hidey to leave. My wish will be for him to stay forever! :)
He's my first eagle love.
When we were clearing trees to build our house. we had one that had baby owls in it.. they were still there when we moved in. two of them. they would fly all around us at times late in the day
Morning, Mits!! I guess I missed you too!!!
God's music box has a lot of starling squawking in it this morning.
Oh I forgot to tell you all the news. Remember I said this year the bluebirds did not build in the bluebird box a pair of purple finch have it. Well low and behold the last 3 days the bluebirds have taken over the bluebird box. I have bluebirds again this year!!!!

Hidey is not happy! Stay away from my fish! I don't care if you brought it or not, it's mine now!
Good Morning to Eagleland Lynn-Hedgie ( :
Hidey sure is telling Liberty that "this is my fish"!
LOL Lib is looking! Ain't no way he's gonna let you near that fish, Lib!
Lib went up into the tree
Good morning! Worked in the yard yesterday afternoon. Then towards evening on the spur of the moment invited our new neighbors over to sit out back. We sat out there til 9:30. (And, we had not had supper!!) It was great. They are a neat couple and their two girls played on the tree swing. They love the outdoors and will be great neighbors.
Morning, Lynn!
☼ Good Morning Eagle Pals ☼
This might not be my favorite, but worth mentioning: The sound of a Spring Gobbler gobbling in the early morning of Spring....
xoxo TTFN xoxo
But, then again, a cam on a bald eagle feeding a newborn eaglet is awesome!
OK CAM....The widecam is back online!
DIVERS AT BONAIRE
Hidey is so sweet looking and has such a kind eye when he's looking in the camera like he is now.
Have a nice day Mits, Paul, Lolly, Dana, Hedgie -- Dang I missed Lynn & Jo.
I'm still holding out for sunshine today. Enough of the gray this week. :)
Big hugs for everyone and a peck for Hidey!
Hidey needs to learn manners!
That fish is still kicking! Not starving that little darling out today, that is for sure.
That is funny! I think Hidey was saying feed me! One lazy bird there!
Bye Lori!
I think that's Belle feeding Hidey now...but, I could be wrong!
Hidey is just too funny...
Stay away...no, feed me, feed me!
Hidey is not the easiest eaglet to beak feed - wants to handle it all by herself.
Good Morning to Eagleland Mema Jo, Lolly and Bozzett (which I am trying to remember name) ( :
Both TH chicks are thought to be female....K87 and K91.
I really feel sorry for Lolly and Jack. It sounds like they lead a really boring life! :)
I think that is Belle too by the place she is standing to feed.
We love to travel and have seen a lot! Jack was fortunate to be nominated to a sub NATO committee and we got to travel to Europe many times and to many European countries.
Whoops! Heard a horn honk. Who's at the nest? LOL
AH-HA, they did AI this panda...
Sad to say the economy has put a stop to European travel. But there is still lots to see on this side of the pond. Have not been to Nova Scotia.
Wish they had a cam on this new little panda.
I missed the divers at Bonaire, never have seen them. However, sure did see an interesting fish there.
I just noticed the door to our costume storage building is open. I'm going to check it out (with gun in hand). If I don't get back on here in 30 minutes...put out a Silver Alert:)
WANDA...CALL 911....DON'T GO THERE.
if it is not divers, Lolly, always some awesome looking fish
That is what I was thinking too, Mits. I would end up shooting myself. Don't have much experience with guns. Can't seem to picture Wanda as a gun-packing momma!
Hidey taking a rest...check out that big ol foot sticking out!
Oh, Wanda! Sure hope no one has broken in!
Gene must not be home.
Looking at the Loon cam. Did see one Loonie on the back of parent earlier. That plant does look like it has a bloom stalk. Would love for them to leave it on long enough to see it bloom.
Ok, she has been gone 10 minutes, who is going to call when she does not come back?
Wanda - don't act so brave! Call 911 like suggested
Well I doubt she took her cell phone with her.
Gene is on his fishing trip this week
ah, our very own pistol packing momma;)
Had to leave messages on both house/cell phones.
no guns here, Sharon, I always thought the guns-ammo signs were a Japanese restaurant;)
I was getting ready to leave and start my day....now I gotta wait for Wanda to return!
WANDA!!!!
15 minutes!!!
OK, I'm back, Jo! Someone had left a stuffed eagle with a leather hat on it's head and a 'Harley Davidson" kerchief on its neck!
Mits you took the words right out of my mouth about Wanda. Now why hasn't she come back. She knows she is worrying us.
Wanda how did they get in???
Have no idea who it was, but it was a nice surprise.
Someone? A friend I hope.
What?!!!!
Did Gene leave it?
Wanda, don't you ever do that again!! We love you and that could have been a bad person!!!! Call 911 the next time!
All three were in the nest. Boy, lots of food today! Hidey is getting lots of practice mantling food.
lol, Wanda, maybe Belle and Lib left it:)
hmmm, maybe Margy;)
First time I have had someone to break in and LEAVE something:) LOL
I'm not certain the door was closed...Gene may have been airing out the building and forgot to shut the door.

I had a gun, Sissy. I stood outside the door and said "If someone is in there, come out with your hand over your head, then run away from me quickly or I will shoot and I MEAN IT! Felt foolish threatening myself;)
roflmbo, Wanda..
prayers for Angel, Lynn
Hope our prayers are answered the way we would like and that Angle can still walk across that stage!
Hedgie - will start the prayers now.
Dana - will be remembering the young man in prayer
MASON - don't know how he is doing but I know he still needs our prayers!
MY PRAYERS ARE HEADED THAT WAY!!!!!
