Heading to the old thread to pick up the gang.

Tee-hee SHAR, you're right--this threesome may soon dine on a chipmunk or two! Guess we'd better come up with a eaglecentric set of names, eh?

Kay said...

Thanks, JO, yes, I was on for a while back on the old thread, but had a glitch of some kind and decided to reboot. Came back to find this gift from STEVE.

Mema Jo said...

Another feeding - right on the hour of one

Mema Jo said...

Oops - where did the adult go

Mema Jo said...

Adult at 11 position
This is probably a switch

Kay said...

The two eldest chicks already showing sibling rivalry! Parent moves in to mediate! Oh me and my silly humanization of these magnificent creatures!

Mema Jo said...

Finding a lot of buried treasures lol

Kay said...

Not a feeding time, but some serious housekeeping with the uncovering and moving of two or three more fish from the flugg near the cup. Then a settling down atop our trio again.

stronghunter said...

Good grief, that is a big something at about the 11:00 spot. I think it's not fish.

Thanks for the new thread, Steve, and for the call-over, Kay.

Sandi said...

Thanks Steve for a new thread for the weekend - I'm sure we will fill it up!

Busy day at the schoolhouse. One of my students (African American) has been involved in a series of incidents with another one of my students (white - the one whose mom said it's not a crime to be a racist) throughout this year. Well apparently the AA boy threatened the other boy today and the mother of the boy who was threatened has called the police and is pressing charges. So the young man who made the threat got a 5-day suspension and will be finishing the year at the alternative school. Very sad - I really like the young man who made the threat.

Lolly, glad you made it home safely and that Skippi enjoyed the trip.

I saw on the comments under the live cam that the NCTC grounds are open the weekend of 4/25 for an Audobon Society fundraiser. Maybe Denny and I should plan a trip to see Brian, Lynnis and Freyja that weekend and take Freyja on a day trip to Shepherdstown? 4/21/12 was the day that I met some of the Momsters in person and we went to the nest for the afternoon. What a great day that was!

Mema Jo said...

Feeding
Poop Shoot by #3 so he must be getting fed

Mema Jo said...

Hi Sandy - I hadn't seen the info about 4/25 - I guess it is the bird walk.. Usually Friends NCTC send out notices to us members - Where
exactly under the Live Cam did you
see it - I'm too blind to see it-lol

Mema Jo said...

Sandi said...

Here's the post that I read in the comments below the live cam:

Karen Tiemens Eddleman · Top Commenter · Senior Science Writer at Palladian Partners

Also, for those of you who live in the area of the nest (Shepherdstown, WV), you have an opportunity to see the actual nest at the National Conservation Training Center. Normally, the facility is not open to the public, but the annual fundraiser for a local chapter of the Audubon Society will be held on the NCTC grounds on April 25th. At the Race for the Birds, there are four different run/walk events geared to people of all ages and physical abilities. Although you can't get too close to the nest in order to avoid disturbing the eagle family, you can see the huge nest and watch the adult birds flying around and perching near the nest. Last year, we saw the male fly right over us carrying a huge bass! You need to register for the event in advance, and you must have a government-issued photo idea to enter the grounds. Bring your binoculars. I am hoping to be there with my spotting scope set up. Also, the NCTC is a beautiful facility. There are many species of birds and other wildlife who make their home there. Here are more details about the Race for the Birds: http://raceforthebirds.org/

Sandi said...

Jo, from this comment, I can't really tell for sure if the grounds are open to anyone that day or just to the participants in the race. Would you mind emailing Steve for clarification?

Mema Jo said...

Yes Sandi I can try.
I do remember the race last year -
very early morning and it seemed you needed to be off the grounds by noon.
I think I do remember being denied a
group entrance unless it was also connected with the race. It is worth a try to get together.
See what I can come up with....

Sandi said...

Jo, I seem to recall that, when we got together at the nest back in 2012, there was a race or something going on, yet we were allowed to be on the grounds. I appreciate you checking with Steve - I sure would love a chance to see some of you!

Mema Jo said...

Yes Sandy I remember we had the Eagle Express there!

Of course 2012 was before their budget was cut!

Probably have pics on the Yahoo Eaglet Momsters album

Judie said...

Headed to the tv to watch something or maybe I'll just read a mystery.

Sandperson is, again, headed out early. First stop is the nest to sprinkle a tiny bit of sleepy dust on the eaglets - none for Belle and Shep as they need to be vigilant. Then on to visit the momsters and dadsters.

Restful sleep for all.

Lynne2 said...

Glad to see our bobbles thriving so far, we are blessed. Blackwater failed, and now it has been confirmed that Pittsburgh's remaining egg is not viable. There have been others. God's plan.

Closing down for the day

Goodnight to all ♥

stronghunter said...

Sandperson has been here. I am very sleepy. Will stay up for awhile because the dryer is running.

Kathryn has found out that one of the young German girls she babysat when she was a teenager works for the airline that was involved with the terrible crash in France. Both sisters have very sad posts on their FB pages right now. I couldn't read everything because it is in German, and not all is translated. Such a tragedy.

The younger sister was a good friend and classmate of Susan's.

stronghunter said...

The German girls and their mother lived in our neighborhood for several years and then moved back to Germany.

Goodorming Judy and all my eagle friends.

We are driving to Baltimore today to attend Madeline's ice show - they are doing The Wizard of Oz and Madeline is The Wizard! It will be an up and back in the same day. Leaving at 9am, show is at 1pm, and probably home by about 7pm. Lots of driving but, now that Mom is gone, I try to fill the grandmother role and the aunt role with Lisa's kids.

Brian comes home from Mexico tonight - we wanted to drive to WV after Madeline's show to spend the night and visit with Freyja tomorrow (haven't seen her in a month) but they have plans for this weekend and next.

Have agreat day all - I'll check in tonight.

Sandi said...

Just watched Belle and the kids having a meal. Belle was very careful to make sure that all 3 got fed. Now trying to corral them all under her. No sign of Shep yet this morning - probably out fishing.

Sandi said...

Another feeding! Jo, about an hour apart, just like you commented. Still no sign of Shep this morning.

grannyblt said...

Good morning eagle friends. Happy to hear that the 3rd eaglet is doing well.. Not happy to hear the news about the Pittsburgh nest.

My birding neighbor and I went out for a late breakfast yesterday and ended up checking out our favorite birding spots. It was snowing all day, but not sticking. We mostly bird from the car, so no problem. The most unusual sighting was four Snipes at one location. Neither one of us had ever seen more than a single bird at one time. We went past our close by eagle nest and saw an adult landing on the nest and disappear into it so we are assuming there are eggs or eaglets. I awoke this morning to a dusting of snow and 22 degrees. Obviously Mother Nature hasn't heard our plea.

Mema Jo said...

Good morning to all ♥

Quick switch at the nest

Mema Jo said...

Food brought in and adult is chowing down

Little bobble-heads are anxiously
awaiting their fair share!

Mema Jo said...

Adult going over to cover the peeps.
No feeding at this time.

carolinabeachmom said...

Good morning JudyE, Sandi, granybit, and Jo. Just got on in time to see the bobble heads awaiting their feeding that you said they didn't get. They all look pretty perky this morning.

carolinabeachmom said...

JudyE, I liked 38* better for the nest temp. Mom and Dad had better pretend they are a quilt and keep those babies warm.

Sandi, I hope you have a fun day at your ice show and afterwards. Have a safe trip up and back.

Grannybit, I am so sorry that you are still having snow. We finally have a sunny day down on the OBX but we are to go into the 20's tonight and tomorrow. It is hard to believe that it is Palm Sunday tomorrow with such temps. and weather.

Jo, great to see you on here already. I hope you have a wonderful day today. I like seeing the sun on the nest there.

Over to Facebook while all are resting. :)

Mema Jo said...

Supposed to get very cold here tonight. Enough already.

Mema Jo said...

Feeding taking place

carolinabeachmom said...

Hey Jo. Just looked up to see that feeding was going on. I don't think I will ever get tired of watching the caring and gentleness of these birds. Well I guess I missed most of it. I have to go to the library and to CVS sometime this am. I hope I get to see a longer meal next time.

Kay said...

Good Morning Eagle Buds!!!

Enjoying this hours "feed" and the sight of all three eaglets in the sunshine.

Winter cold here, too with snow flurries yesterday---yesterday I heard someone say we should move Groundhog Day to April 2nd for more accuracy!☺

SANDI, you're en route now to Lisa's. So wonderful of you to surrogate grandmother her kids. I'm sure the show will be great with it's very special Wizard.

I love ice skating and plan to watch a competition tonight, NBC @ 8pm. Not sure if Seth is home for the weekend or not--if he's here he enjoys the sport, too.

CANDY, I recall Palm Sunday's and Easter's Past when we had to wear light coats and couldn't adequately show off our Easter finery. Even in Tucson where it snowed the day after Easter on 04/02/56. I was delivering my first child and the doctor arrived to announce "it's snowing". I thought I was hallucinating, but it was true. The day before I'd sung in the choir and with a triple trio for Sunrise and church service. I enjoyed the song in my heart over that new baby more than anything, however!

Good mealtime now over and chicks well covered against the cold wind.

Prayers for all in need!!!

Two parents in nest. Both calling out; noses pointed to the sky. They are really calling.

carolinabeachmom said...

Poof out went one eagle and the other is up off the bobble-heads. and they are still calling out. Something is bothering them.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I was sitting in the living room watching TV when I heard some really loud eagle calls. There must be a real threat at that nest. Both parents were calling. I think it was Belle who took off after whoever was around. All 3 babies are looking around and I think Shep standing by them.

Janet said...

good morn to all. got some upset eagles at the nest........... often wonder what they are seeing, but then think do I really wanna know????????????

yeah on 3 babies. concern now, though. nature is not always kind....

love seeing the babies move about. so cute

I kind of missed everything yesterday. that stomach bug Olivia had...yeah, well, it found me. I called out to work as it hit about 5 a.m. yesterday and I went back to bed and stayed there. tom fed me Gatorade all day.

I am better today. not pushing it, but drinking coffee to ward off the caffeine headache that came about.

oh! babies pecking each other! no no! play nicely!!!

hope everyone is wll and having a lovely weekend!

carolinabeachmom said...

Eaglets still on their on with parent beside them on the nest. The calling out has stopped, so whatever it was must have gone.

carolinabeachmom said...

Sandi I don't think I ever remembered snow around Easter down here, but a couple of times, it was so warm at Christmas and on my son's birthday in March, that you didn't know whether to celebrate indoors or out.

carolinabeachmom said...

Good morning Janet. So sorry you didn't feel well yesterday, but happy to hear you feel a little better today. The stomach bug is the pits. I hated it when the kids at school started passing it around, ad I always seemed to get it too.

Both eagles back in nest. The feeding of the 3 has begun.

ga everyone. Things going well with the new addition to the fur family but keeping me nice and busy. She changes each day to who she really is. I see happy and playful coming out pretty good now and that makes my heart smile. Hope all is well enough for our eagle family. I can't watch the kids bop each other right now. Plate is full BUT am reading blog and following nest happenings. I do hope we aren't going to have a lot of intruder issues. I too think food in abundance on nest is attracting them BUT that also means there is plenty of food for intruder/s to go get their own :-)

carolinabeachmom said...

Both parents in the nest. It sounds as if you all think that there are intruders trying to get at the nest? I hope not. We have a nice little family this year, and I, for one, would like to see three eaglets fledge1

Glo, so glad things are working out for you and your new addition.

carolinabeachmom said...

Eagle got up off of babies I can't tell if she poofed or not. I think it is gone, leaving one eagle on nest who is going over to egg cup to cover the babies. What a good blanket they are for this cold weather. At least the fish won't spoil laying in the frig in nest.

carolinabeachmom said...

All is still quiet on the NCTC front. Just that wind howling. I guess I'll go read one of the new books I got from the library. I am trying two by Koontz. I think it was Sandi that told me his were good. BB

Sandi said...

Between shows at the ice rink. Decided to stay for both shows so we can go out to eat with the family before heading home. Posted Madeline's solo skate video on Facebook! She was great! Bye!

JudyEddy said...

Home from work and our eagle seem to be pretty smart why wouldn't they think of the fish attracting intruders Just thinking over in my head and oh my we don't need any more fish I think someone need to sit Shep down and say slo down or maybe sit up a fish market to sell some LOL There is probably at least 12 fishes a bunny and what ever the thing is at 11 can't tell looked bloody yesterday anyone have a clue

JudyEddy said...

BRR temp at nest is 31° 21° tonight temp will be no snow thank goodness 50 - 36 tomorrow 57-33 Mon and 58-37 on Tues with rain

so looks pretty good for our family of eagles I got another gal at worked hooked on the nest at lunch Told her not to get mad at me when she finds she is addicted to them I told her to look at Beakspeak.com for others I noticed that they don't keep the site up to date with all the nest as they did before on that link

good morning
HI MAGPIE (waving)
SANDI: loved the ice skating video. I kind of miss watching that.....but now we have hooping.
JUDYE: sis! so exciting! I love that you all vacay together!
STRONGHUNTER: FRANCE eh? very exciting!!!

here? no big plans.....at least not for the moment, lol!

it was cold this morning 27. hopefully this redbud winter will be done quickly!

ended up taking Olivia shopping yesterday. she needs some shorts, jeans and wanted a skirt/dress.

there was supposed to be a consignment shop for teens across town. there was, but minimal stuff at this point. they are pretty new.

(watching eagles eat! one baby sure is wiggly!!!!) (loving the split screen) can type and watch!

so we went to the goodwill and found her 3 cute dresses. (and she doesn't LIKE dresses)....lol

she lost one of her tennis. she insists on converse, which I don't mind as they last and she is growing more slowly now. she has a size 9 foot. so last fall li bought her a new pair of converse and she "lost" one shoe. the the determination was made that she can buy a new pair since she lost one shoe. if they had been outgrown, etc I would have foot the bill...however...trying to teach some responsibility here...

so we went to several shoe stores, which had nice shoes, and less pricey but in the end she spent her money on a pair of converse. thinks she'll loose these??????????????????????

I mean seriously, how does one loose a tennis shoe??? one? she is here or at her sisters....no shoe. maybe JUFIE???? heck who knows???? the green garland????

and found her two pair of jeans while we were out. she wishes to distress one pair and they were $10 a pair so okay I can live with that. some compromise is necessary I suppose.

shorts. no luck yet. but we will succeed.

sunny today. warming I think. not sure exactly what's on the agenda.

have a great day to all! hugs

Mema Jo said...

Good chilly Sunday morning to all ♥

I have been watching the feeding of all three. Not sure what is going on with the one - all the wacky movements. Hope he is ok. They are really moving around down in the egg cup.

No plans for today - but do want to find somewhere to go locally.

Shirley, France would be terrific trip

Glad to see you checking in Margy

Sandi the video of Madeline's performance was very enjoyable.

Mema Jo said...

I think this is the longest feeding I have ever witnessed

Judie said...

Hi Margy. Nice to have you stop by to say hello.

Jo, enjoy the day whatever you decide to do.

Janet, asked Jufie about the "lost" shoe. Says no way. Only likes Air Jordan.

Looking at the nest, my thought is to contact a kitchen organizer company and send them to the Sycamore Palace to get a pantry organized with a freezer.

Lovely day here. Chilly, still. Busy agenda: read a book.

BYW Good Palm Sunday morning to all lurkers and bloggers on here today. :)

carolinabeachmom said...

Poof and nest in MT Three little bobble-heads looking for some more to eat! They had a good long lunch time today.

carolinabeachmom said...

Parent back on nest. :) Pulling fish over out of the way. We have three little ones looking for more lunch! :)
Two eagle parents now in nest and poof went one of them out, while the other continues to feed him/herself. He is really tearing into that fish!

carolinabeachmom said...

Now the little eaglets are looking for food again. Lunch is over: wiggle, wiggle and parent back on babies. Nap time again. :)

carolinabeachmom said...

Two eagles back in nest. So far since I have been watching, everything has been peaceful and quiet. Both eagles up now. Change coming? Well who is going to do what? :)

Poof went one eagle and just one sitting there watching over the eaglets as they nap in the sun.

VERY fresh fish delivery - still moving its tail!

Both parents in the nest. Sticks and grass being moved. Chicks are hopeful for some food.

carolinabeachmom said...

Both eagles in the nest again. A new fish was brought in by first eagle to come in. I didn't see it until I saw the fish's tail flapping. That is one fresh fish.

Parents seem to be tidying up nest a little. Poof, out goes an eagle. One parent still in nest sitting beside the egg cup.

Parent back with a new stick for the nest.Put it and working around the sides of the 11 o'clock position.

carolinabeachmom said...

One eagle left in nest with babies and now covering babies. Nap time.

Lolly said...

Hi all! Just peeked into the nest! Babies all covered up and the pantry stocked!

Yesterday we cleaned the trailer and returned it to its home. After That we mowed, weed eated and edged. Looking good. Coming home from church enjoyed seeing all the trees leafing out and redbuds in bloom. Trees are also spreading pollen everywhere!!

It is 80 and heading out to work in the Yard! Working out there is the best therapy ever!! Have a blessed Sunday!

carolinabeachmom said...

2 eagles back in nest. Did it bring in another fish? Can't tell by they way he is sitting. Poof, last eagle gone again.

stronghunter said...

Checking in. Looks like all is well. Gracious, I think there is enough food for the entire time those eaglets remain in the nest--except for the issue of spoilage. I know the Eagles aren't particularly concerned, but it has to be pretty smelly already. Gotta be glad the cam doesn't pick up odors.

Judie said...

Shhhhhhh! Shirley, let's hope Steve doesn't see your comment and arrange for smellavision.

Mema Jo said...

These 3 bobble-heads create lots of
action at the nest. Continuous to say the least. We need to have someone keep a Fish Inventory. I have never seen that many fishes in
our nest!

Good evening Buds. Just posted new pics in the Nook. Small story involving the first pictures, but I have one to tell without pics.
Also on Tuesday at the Park, we saw an osprey through the glass door flying towards the River's edge. We dashed into back room and ran towards windows. The osprey was jumping on the bank next to another dark bird. This second bird flew up in the air with a big fish in it's talons. It was an adult eagle!!!

Good evening! Back from my race in DE. Had a great time. I ran a half marathon (13.1) miles and my friend ran 26.2 and she saw 3 EAGLES! I was so hoping I would see some. We didn't run together (we only train together, she has really long legs not like me). It was a great race and would have been even better if I had seen those Eagles.
Wanted to do the Run for the birds at NCTC but I have to go to a wedding that day. :( next year.

Meanwhile I'll check the cam and watch Belle and Shep and those cute little ones.

DanaMo said...

Omg! So many fish!
