Oh my goodness, the FBI has rescued the girl, Hannah Anderson, who was kidnapped recently in California. The kidnapper has been killed.

PA Nana said...

LOL! Hoda, are you sniffing the air from the Shambala festival? You are so funny.

Sandi &Lynne agree with what my mother always told we girls ... Dust then sweep or vacuum; and we did a lot.
Maybe that explains why you cannot eat off my floors.

Think I'll change my name to Lennox, or Ellis. That bread sounds delish!

Lori, hang in there, it's bound to get easier. Sorry to hear about RoRo, but it's the best for all concerned.

Paula, best of luck with your interview and enjoy the time at your paradise.

JudyE, can't imagine why anyone would want to go FL. I'm staying above the Mason/Dixon line, but it gets hot and humid here too. Evan in Hoda's neck of the woods!

Charlie is doing better since the transfusion but will have to wait until tests can be done. He is breathing better.
Thanks again for your prayers.

Have to check email now. BBL

They were in Idaho.

stronghunter said...

So happy to see that Charlie is doing better.

PA Nana said...

Shirley, that is good news! Police in this area are looking for the body of a 7 month old boy believed abducted and killed.

Now going....

stronghunter said...

Paula, sorry about the death of your neighbor.

Sorry, Lori, about the situation with RoRo. Good that you have found a new home for him.

Wow, you are doing a lot of studying. I am sure you will be very happy you've done so much when classes do start.

Judie said...

Good evening.

Hoda, please take a deep breath, hold for a count of 10, exhale slowly. Repeat as needed. I suspect the dust has infiltrated your brain and you are now totally out of control. lol

Contrary to others, I vacuum first then dust (top to bottom). Vacuuming can raise dust that just replaces what I have already de-dusted.

Lori, I am truly sorry about the decision for RoRo. Difficult would be an understatement. Well, sandperson says he will check wherever the little guy goes.

The python that suffocated the little boys did not escape from the pet store. It was kept in the family apartment. Snakes are cold-blooded and it was likely seeking warmth. Investigation ongoing.

Hoda said...

JUDIE,
The python did escape from the pet store according to the RCMP. They also had several 9 foot alligators there.

Good luck to PAULA job interview tomorrow.

MONTE gave DANA 50 Roses for her 50 th!!!
How sweet.

Glad they rescued the girl.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE US

Judie said...

Diann, good idea. Maybe we can have sleep-overs at Jo's place and eat Lolly's banana bread. Glad that Charlie is showing some improvement.

Well, I advised Hoda to take a deep breath but maybe that is NOT what she needs to do. I forgot...deep breathing of air from the Shambala festival -- surely will complicate her symptoms of Dust/Vacuum Syndrome.

Very happy that Hannah Anderson has been located and is safe but sorry that she and her father have to live with the death of her mother and young brother.

Judie said...

#%#@* Sandperson says I have to stop "chatting" and let you all know the sleepy dust satchel is packed and he is revving up his engine. Departure is imminent.

Restful sleep for all.

Hoda said...

I was going to tell you I do not inhale JUFIE!!!
LOL

Judie said...

See, what did I predict. Judie not Jufie! lol

magpie said...

Jufie, good one, Hoda...

I see Jufie and I dust and vacuum the same, though I KNOW for SURE that Jufie does more of that kind of thing than I do

Sandperson can stop here last, I have shower and shampoo and laundry to do

magpie said...

Looks like early Monday and Tuesday mornings will be better for meteor showers...as JudyE mentioned....so I won't roll out of bed too early Sunday after all

Good to hear Diann report that Charlie is doing a little better and breathing easier

good to learn that Hannah Anderson has been rescued...this has been a very bizarre situation....and as Judie mentioned....tough times ahead for her father and her....

Sandperson has arrived here.

Listening to Kathryn and Will trying to figure out the mystery of the Xbox controller. It seems Hunter took Will's controller to his dad's house. Will said Hunter's controller is covered with some kind of icky mess. (Happens when you eat while you play.) Probably needs to be decontaminated. Guess Hunter wanted the clean one.

stronghunter said...

SED, everyone.

stronghunter said...

Will has opted not to use Hunter's controller. He will use his guitar instead.

stronghunter said...

That is, Will is going to use his own guitar, not Hunter's guitar.

unless she did that today which is uh...... Saturday.

I am off to bed....... Michael and family are down at the Ocean City beach house in DE. (Figure out that location)

OK then never mind... I must have inhaled on JUFIE'S previous recommendation and you are right on the day of the week too!!!

Here for a second night running MISS LOLLY has not checked in...hmmmmmmmm I wonder!!!

Lolly said...

Oh, my!!! I think everyone has been sniffing something! What a hoot to read the blog!

We are home. Had a great afternoon and evening. Now for the next few days stock up on grosseries as Thursday we go get the boys for Camp Hawkwood!!!

Jack vacuums for me on
Sunday. I dust whenever, but never on Sunday. On Sunday I mop. So which came first the chicken or the egg? And in my case which comes first, vacuum or dust. They are not done on the same day. roflmbo BUT, if I was to do them on the same day, I would problably vacuum and then dust. (just had to get my two bits in!)

Oh, and Lori...so very sorry it is not working out for RoRo, but sounds like a good decision.

Time for bed. Night all! SED

Lolly said...

Ha...I was typing away, Hoda!

We just got home. Now Jack is ready for bed and I need to go get ready. ((Hugs))

Hoda said...

AND she tells us she does not vacuum or dust but foes not share her secret!!!
WAY TO GO JO!!!

LOLLY checked in. Yay
YET no reports on the Banana cake... Also did not answer if she ships to Canada.

I had better check out...
" we will not be amused" if I have another sleepless night.

Good Morning Everyone, lovers of Eagles!

JANET, so glad you're having a great time!!!

Poor HODA has to breathe and when she does...we'll you know with the festival and all not far away! Maybe a surgical mask would help. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANAMO! WE MISS YOU!

DIANN, glad to hear Charley is doing better. Please keep us posted.

Just sickening about the snakes and those two little boys. Stupid parents, though I can't imagine their pain now.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts on RoRo. He really is a special dog (which is why we got him), but we are thinking of him and his best interests/happiness. There will be tears when he leaves, which will probably be after the surgery heals. Surgery is Tuesday morning.

I have 15 chapters I have to re-read in one book - I just highlighted -- now I have to go back, re-read and take notes so I can do the homework that goes with each chapter. I pray everyday that I understand, know and can recall all of this!

SANDI, glad you have a lazy day. Hope you get to go out in the boat and the nice weather holds up.

LOLLY, what's up besides church and mopping today? Glad to hear Camp Hawkwood is coming up!

Have a great day all. Hope we hear from KAY and DANAMO!

Yes LORI send a surgical mask!!!

The news in Canada quotes RCMP reporting the New Brunswick boys were having a sleep over at a friend's house. The Python, who has since been euthanized along with several 9ft alligators, escaped its enclosure went up through pipes descended in flat through a hole in the ceiling. The boys were asleep on a mattress on the floor in living room where said python was found.

News can be confusing, this is what we are getting here.

I hear RAIN.

Good morning! I love us! What a great group!

Yes, church and mopping today. LOL But nothing much else on the agenda. Maybe start planning a menu for when the boys are here. They are excited which make me happy. My biggest problem will not be gaining weight while they are here as they want to eat good. LOL

Camp Hawkwood will be get the boys Thursday and tie dye shirts. Friday water park. Saturday work in the yard and then the movies as well as get the trailer. Sunday we leave for Austin where we will tour the capitol, as well as museums and possibly the UT campus. Also, we will take boat ride on the river to under a bridge where a colony of bats live. Will see the bats depart for the night. Downer is it stinks! Bat guano! Boys will love it. Staying at RV park on the river in Bastrop. It has a splash park as well as a swimming pool. Then Wed we come home and Thursday return the boys to their rightful owners. Laurel and Joey will have had their first days of school in-service without having to worry about the boys.

So, today and for the next few days....enjoy peace and quiet. LOL

Good Afternoon Eagle Buds !

Reporting in from my "Dog Days of Summer" here. We're having a great time. Lori, you'd get a kick out of watching Pen and Mal play tug o' war with their Lori Tug !

Had a major storm day Friday--had to swaddle and hold Malcolm through the worst of it, poor thing. Julie has resisted a ThunderShirt, but I'm going to get one for him.

LORI, sorry Dalai just couldn't accept young RoRo. You've made a difficult, but wise decision ! Like all the others, I'm sure you're going to excel in nursing school and beyond ! Me thinks you're too hard on yourself.

SANDI, your cleaning technique is one I adopted years ago on the advice of Heloise Number One. I'm not the cleaning fanatic you are, but I try !

DIANN, I'm with you where Florida is concerned. Lived in Tarpon Springs for three years and left, convinced the State was not meant for human habitation. We should have left it to the gators, snakes, deer flies, love bugs and all the other critters that thrive down there ! Forgive us JUDYE !☺

Also---good news re: Charlie, DIANN !!!!!

PAULA, sorry for the sad loss of your neighbor. May she R.I.P..

Last, but far from least, Happy 50th Birthday to our dear DanaMo ! 50 roses ! Monte loves his Girl !

Jack's parents moved to Florida and were there several years. Had a home on the water, dock in the back yard. We went every summer that they were there. I am in agreement, just too hot and humid. Not much better here though not as humid and we do not have the love bugs. lol I had forgotten about them. They were at Redington Beach very close to Judy, same area.

Have watered outside and just came in drenched with sweat. However, it is only 94. So much better than 104!!

Sandi said...

Today did not stay sunny but it didn't rain and the temperature isn't too bad, so it's all good.

Denny and I took a bike ride and all of a sudden, Bella decided to jump out of the basket that she rides in on the front of my bike! I tried to grab her before she jumped but couldn't, though I do think I slowed her fall to the ground. Fortunately, I wasn't going very fast and there were no cars on the road we were on, but my back tire almost rode over her before I could stop the bike! I don't know who was the most scared - Bella, Denny, or me! Denny let out a scream so loud I'm surprised no one in the area called an ambulance or the police! She has abrasions on both of her hind legs - I guess from the metal basket - but she could have been hurt much worse. I spent the rest of the bike ride home telling her to "Stay!" I can't imagine what prompted her to do that!!

OK, time to start dinner! Later!

JudyEddy said...

OH SANDI so sorry about Bella fall I think the rule on the blog applies to dogs also
You may have to put a tight leash on her in the basket from now on to keep her in I always was afraid of dogs in cars looking out windows and bikes etc that they may jump out
but this is the first I have heard of it

SANDI, so glad you didn't crash and happy that Bella is okay. Whew!

LOLLY, so what's it cost for Camp Hawkwood? I want to sign up! LOL That's one great itinerary.

JO, what did your day behold? Hope it was a good one.

PAULA, so tell us about your interview outfit, please.

JUDYE, glad you're home safe and sound. Sorry no cooling rain.

Hoda said...

SANDI so scary. Glad you three are alright! What a fright!!!

LOLLY I agree with LORI how can we go to Camp Hawkwood? It sounds great what you have planned.

I had a terrific couple of hours Kayaking. I crossed the lake twice took on waves head on! Not very big waves, from the wake of motor boats. I saw eagle, I saw ducks, geese, mergansers, and little humans in kayaks too!!! One was six years old!!! So so so cute.

Hoda said...

Good evening,

Had issues at the mall today. I shopped at Penney's, then Belk. I was getting pretty tired and decided it was time to head home and headed towards the door I had entered by. Well, it was locked.

I was told that the mall was closed and that mall policy dictated that no one could go into the mall. I would have to exit by another door and walk around the mall to my car by Penney's.

I told them that I just could not walk that far in the heat, and that I might have to call someone to come get me. They offered me use of a phone.

I found a door with some help. (They are working on the building, and the door did not look usable.) I got part way around the building, where I found an entrance to the mall. A man was emptying trash cans there, and I told him my problem. After first saying that the mall was closed, he went over and opened the door and let me in. I thanked him profusely.

Guess what? There were lots of people walking around and Penney's was wide open.

I had asked why they didn't announce at Belk that the mall was closing. Their speaker system is not working.

Guess I should have asked to speak with the store manager. Surely a store can be more kind and accommodating to their customers.

Sorry to complain. Just had to vent about this.

Lolly said...

No new sightings of Bunny. But, looks like we had an armadillo last night. He did a lot of plowing around in the mulch in a flower bed and in the process dug up two caladiums. Holding my breath and hoping he was just passing through. Time will tell.

stronghunter said...

I still think I should send my armadillo-chasing children to help you out, Lolly. They had a blast chasing armadillos at with golf carts on Disney's golf course.

stronghunter said...

Maybe the bunny found a nice clover field somewhere, Lolly.

Hoda said...

SHIRLEY very upsetting g story about your experiences at the Mall today!
It is not right!
If their speaker system was not working then they can not expect people to walk around in the heat of the sun!
One mishap and they could be in trouble!
Malls in the USA are HUGE... They take up a few blocks at a time!!! Gracious me.
You have every right to be upset!
Vent away!
I am glad you were able to access your car through Penny's.

stronghunter said...

Thanks, Hoda. I think what really got to me was the attitude. I was told that the mall was closed at six and it was well after six by that time. (I guess it was six-thirty.) I felt like they were telling me that if I was so stupid that I kept shopping in their store, I could just head out into the parking lot. Tough.

PA Nana said...

Oh, Shirley, that's frightening. Glad you are okay.

Lori, thanks for the Windows 8 opinions. Not sure what I want to do. Having pc trouble - still. It's not my service provider because other pcs in the house have no trouble.
I've been using the iPad but can't open the cam or videos.

Have to agree with everyone about Nature Nut, she hasn't been seen for quite a while. Is she perhaps vacationing or visiting family?

Good to see Margy checking in occasionally. Hope her exercises are helping both hands.

Loved Jo's answer about dusting & vacuuming. LOL

Trying to remember all the posts to speak to but am having trouble concentrating. The guys have tv on and the show looks interesting. Guess I cannot do two things at once anymore.

So I'll close for now and wish all a restful sleep if I don't get back later.

God bless

Hoda said...

SHIRLEY this is not acceptable and do not take on their projections!
Their responsibility really to make sure their stores are secure on closing and that their customers are also safe and treated well. Maybe they should invest in a few golf carts to transport customers to the closest exit for their cars!
I would write the Mall administration of your concerns. For God's sake you shop enough and are supporting the local economy!!!

Hoda said...

Tomorrow I will go to yoga in the park.
Not the one next to my flat but a park twenty minutes out of town.
I will make an outing if it and take a picnic lunch and go swimming there.
There is an eagle nest they I know of and will go check it out.
Shambhala ends tonight. Energy will be odd in town for the remainder of this week.
They should all mostly be gone by next weekend.
Breathe!

stronghunter said...

Enjoy your day, Hoda. Sounds wonderful.

I have a bowling lesson tomorrow. Hunter has decided he wants to go to Y Camp again for the week. They bowl tomorrow. Not sure which alley, but likely the one I go to. So, Hunter either goes to the bowling alley with me or with the day campers. I think he prefers the day campers.

About time for me to call it quits. Bought a few new things to wear on vacation. Now I need to get it all organized.

Judie said...

This is the evil Jufie. Jufie may have sent Judie to a place where things go never to be seen again...a place far, far away. Following are comments left on her desk.

Sandi, so sorry about the mishap with Bella. A safety belt of some sort, perhaps?

Hoda, the snowbirds are seeking warmth. Rather like reptiles seeking sunlight. lol

Oh, and Hoda, do try to be a bit more active.

Yes, must send a note to Loweeda.

Shirley, what a dreadful experience. Thinking I would do future shopping at Penny's but not Belks. Perhaps a word to management - could have been a new employee -- but still not a good customer relations decision.

Wishing Paula a very successful interview tomorrow - which is MONDAY.

Must remember to say goodnight and remind everyone the sandperson will be packing a satchel and departing at 11pm and wish restful sleep for all.

Hello and Happy Sunday to Everyone!
Weather finally got decent enough that we could return up from the basement!! AC at least 10° cooler~~~TV but no 'puters.
Nothing very interesting going on ~~the usual, work, sleep, Dr. dentist appts. Haven't been to Chelsea much~~no vinyl work just now, so I still haven't seen any Spotties!!! The osprey nest at Park on UStream has been showing one juvie in the nest now and then. Dad does a fish drop & usually the other appears. Last week the whole family was there one PM for a 3 fish dinner! Only got a few pics around the house of birds, butterflies.
We haven't had a lot of rain, but daughter said in TX last week, they had rain every day! Although they can't move in yet,(such as light fixtures wrong size & now discontinued) she stops by there almost every day to check the ph in the pool water! What fun. They're eventually getting salt water, so maybe less maintenance.
Hope everyone is doing OK.
Need to get out a card for one of our gentlemen, James, at Park. He's retired from Library of Congress, sings in church choir, and has had his brother, ill w/cancer living with them for a few years. James took him to Johns Hopkins for chemo, etc. He really rallied, but passed last week.
Love to all, Later ☺

Hi, Everyone,

I haven't read back on the blog yet, because I just wanted to ask for some prayers ASAP for a friend of ours, Jim Wilkoski, and his wife, Darlene. Jim has been in Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach (CA) since Friday night. He has had COPD for years, but was almost unable to breathe on Friday. He is in serious condition, and they are running countless numbers of tests on him. We did not know he was in the hospital--I just got a phone call from Darlene a few minutes ago. I'm not sure, but from what she said, his heart may be having problems too. Please say some prayers for them. They are in their 70s, and were never able to have children. Jim has a sister, but she's in PA. They believe in the power of prayer, and it would mean a lot to both of them to know that you are praying for them. Thank you in advance! I'm going to say goodnight and God bless, and try to reach Darlene on the phone again. I ♥ us!!!

Oh dear, I will miss Judie. Guess we have Jufie now. Hmmmm????

Fell asleep in my chair and have a head ache. Going to pop some advil and head to bed.

Oh, that mall incident would have made me burn!! And not from the heat! Do tell someone and let them know...I think the store as well as the mall manager!

You know...I really hate to think of Judie in the far north woods. Maybe she can find my old van there and head back. She could go into business selling old appliance while wearing what was it...a garland?

Night all! SED!!

Oh, and prayers for your sister, Hoda. Hopefully she will continue to do well.

GOOD MORNING/MIDDLE OF NIGHT...

Capt. and I stepped outside an hour ago and I saw 1 meteor...skeeters were wide awake and feasting on me, so we came back inside! Will go back out tomorrow night with bug spray on and try to see more. I find it almost spiritual to see the heavens giving us a display like that...kinda like lightning, but not dangerous!

We are thinking very seriously of taking GG to the OBX in October when the rest of our family go down. She would REALLY enjoy being at the ocean with her entire family, especially Jayden.
She says she would like to go and we would bring her home if she doesn't want to stay. We would, at least, enjoy the drive, if nothing else:)

A note to any of you who know who BUZZ is (its a facebook thing regarding Jayden); he gave Buzz to Grandpa to keep! That would be like me, giving up my computer!
Speaking of Jayden, he is now in Nursery School...don't know whether he likes it or not, he won't talk about it:)

BTW, Jufie, I, too, vacuum first then dust. The 'beater bar' tends to stir up dust and it does get on the furniture~

Good night, blessings and love for all♥

Good morning,

Thanks for your kind thoughts for Pat and Joe, and for me in the mall drama. Perhaps I will send the letter I have been composing in my mind. Interesting that the only person to show compassion and common sense was a custodian. Not the first time I have found that to be the case, though. But I am afraid to mention him in the letter. He probably broke some major rule by letting me in.

Margy, we leave Saturday for a week-long visit with my brother and his family in Fort Collins, Colorado. Kathryn and Hunter are going with me. We will fly to Denver on Saturday evening. Will will take care of the pets at home. He is planning a trip to Seattle the next week.

My brother Jim's wife is named Shirley also--at least that is her American name. She's Chinese. They have one child, a son named Christopher. He's about 6 weeks older than Will and Susan.

Perhaps the young yoga teacher will change her ways after she gets your letter, Hoda. It sounds as if she has a lot to learn.

Hello out there, Loretta! We are missing you. I know you do not post every day, but we are wondering how things are with you.

stronghunter said...

I am really looking forward to seeing Jim, Shirley, and Christopher again. It has been too many years. He says Colorado is much nicer than the East Coast in August.

Hunter wants to go up into the mountains and see snow.
