Lookin' good, RED !

Back from therapy and beginning to see some results so I'm encouraged. Drove back in snow shower and happy to be off the road just before nightfall. The roads will begin to get slick now.

Notice the Llano eagles engage in HP on a limb. For some reason that is much less awkward than in the nest where the female gets smushed into the flugg. I feel confident our Belle and Shep are getting plenty of practice off camera and that we'll see an egg or two in due time.

Thanks for the good reporting on the evening visit, y'all !

LYNN, I remember that plane crash and the rescue scene well. Hard to believe it's been 30 years.

Hmmmm, sauerbrauten ! Jah ! Come to Columbus and we'll go to German Village for a great meal !

CarolAnne, it only takes a couple of tries to get it!! And you did!

Only thing I can figure with Tori and the echmo is that it IS a last resort attempt.....praying that it works and that the transplant happens very soon.

Hoda, WOW---big spender....new mattress AND new BED! Gotta picture?? ANd same day delivery is great. Hoping you sleep like a log tonight!

hedgie said...

Well, darn....another beloved newsman has died. CBS' Richard Threlkeld was killed in a wreck this morning on Long Island. :(

hedgie said...

Kay, glad you are in safe and sound...and that PT is giving you results!

HI ya'll...catching up on posts:

LORI* regarding the foster puppy....her name is kora and she is a blue heeler aka austrailian cattle dog. her owner suddenly had to move ... her neighbors were druggies and threatened to kill her and her son...they lived out in the country...so she had to move asap. she moved back with her parents and they have the little dauschund (spelling!) dogs...well cattle dogs will herd, anybody and every body and are very strong willed dogs....you ahve to be very firm with them. the mom and the dad weren't dealing with her reallys trong personality and her only option was to take kora to a shelter. i stepped in and said no, bring her to me....we have a fully fenced yard and i've raised 2 heelers....so she is with us, well has been with us since august and am hoping by this coming august she will be able to go home to her momma. she comes to visit kora when she can.

however, it has made me think that down the road i'd like to foster another dog..........

we shall see....okay, off to reading some more.

paula eagleholic said...

C/A, good on you for your first link!

Glad we had a visit....

Yes, eagles do HP on tree branches!

hedgie said...

Liesl's stuffed doggie is now a double-amputee. :( But it's sutured up (again!) so it might last a little longer! PetSmart is on the trip-list for Monday....was reminded today that I have a dental apptmt. at 2:45.....ugh. so I'll have an hour+ to kill----and surely won't go eat before dentist!

paula eagleholic said...

Janet, a guy down at the beach adopted a blue from a shelter....it's the neatest looking dog...very interesting personality...and a very good dog!

hedgie said...

Janet, it's great that you were able to step in and foster that dog---I'm sure she's beautiful.

paula eagleholic said...

Actually, his seemed to have shorter hair, so I wonder if it was a mix? Very pretty markings, tho.

hedgie said...

Heading to the sofa....Liesl wants some lap time...just hope I don't doze off before Jeopardy starts!

paula eagleholic said...

Lynn, there is no chance ever of me sewing up Nick's toys...

Hoda said...

They just delivered the purchase and I get to make up my bed...it is rather a simple bed LYNN...a twin size and plain wood. It comes from Country Furniture a local store in Nelson...bed and mattress came to 550 Canadian Dollars...I am now washing sheets and have vacuumed and am looking for a new way to rearrange the room...I do think I will sleep well on it and I laugh if it takes care of my tea wakings at 3:50 in the morning!!!LOL

paula eagleholic said...

Finally, some justice.

Joran Van der Sloot the only suspect in the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway, was sentenced today to 28 years in a Peruvian prison in the strangling death of Stephany Flores.

Lolly said...

I do hope it takes care of your wakings in the middle of the night, Hoda. If I wake in the night, I stay in bed and always fall back to sleep. However, I would like to join the morning crew some day!

Red said...

Good news Paula, about Joran Van der Sloot. I'm sure the Halloway family are smiling.

CarolAnne said...

One of the news outlets was saying in the prisons down there, you can buy yourself cell upgrades if you have the money. Supposedly he has television & game console in his "room".

CarolAnne said...

and the way its set up, he can be paroled in 9 years.DEFINITELY NOT ENOUGH!

Hoda said...

RED, No wonder you do not like snow!!! You were in ONTARIO when you came to Canada...We laugh as the rest of the country is always so envious of ON-TE-RA-IO that we blame everything on them...really BAD if you happen to come from TO-RA-NTA!!!

Hoda said...

The Van der Sloot fellow will not have it as easy as western media makes it to be...the least amount of tiem he could be in is 14 years according to our news and the upgrades are not what they are cracked up to be...he will be mixed in with the general population and he killed a local girl and he is the foreigner...it will not be easy nor sweet...prisons are over corwded there...He will not get any medical/mental and psychological retraining I am afraid...already in a year he looks to have deteriorated from when he was first captured...It does not however bring the two young women back!!! Sad so very sad.

Red said...

I didn't like Tornoto. I'm a country boy and never liked any big city. In the 11 years I was there I probably went to Toronto maybe 5 times, and that was to show visitors the CN Tower. Nice view from the restraurant there.

Hoda said...

The rest of us don't much understand Toronto either RED!!! Really it is a favourite pass time to bash Toronto...I try to give it a break...you are right the view from the CN Tower is breath taking...I never lived in Ontario...Québec, Alberta and British Columbia are the three provinces I have called home...I am glad you spent time up here with us though...I agree with you in regards to clearing the roads and my experience has been that they are very efficient and with it when it comes to keeping the roads open and driveable during the winter months.

NatureNut said...

Good Evening Eagle Buds.
Good to see Red was here and is going to educate Shep!! Best wishes w/your hip surgery. My Pearl Harbor Navy uncle had his replaced a few years ago, probably to chase the girls better! LOL He'll be 90 in Feb!!

Wanda, read you didn't want to see a film on surgery. Good for you~~might be enough to give you more anxiety!Don't need that----tell Dr. "to just do it!"
Had a really loooong day today---gotta eat some salad din din. Try to BBL
Prayers for Tori and all our other Buds ♥

Lynne2 said...

Oh people.....and by that I mean Red and CarolAnne....I'm rolling on the floor laughing my abs of aluminum off!!!

More prayers for Tori...hope this goes ahead fast!

Linda, your prayer was beautiful!

Janet, how nice you are fostering! Heelers are indeed NOT a dog for just anyone, for sure! Hope you can post some pictures!

Sandi, hope the Thunder shirt works well. I'm hoping to get one for Daisy for spring as she is terrified of thunder.

Lynne2 said...

well, the intestinal thing has passed for everyone...seems to be a nasty but short lived thing. But poor Doctor Mother (that would be my BFF Gail, Dr B's mom) got it today. She wasn't lookin' too good when she left work yesterday, and I sit at the desk she uses. I got the disinfectant and wiped everything down. Hopefully I'll miss this, My tiny fever broke with a big sweat in the night and no probs today.

hedgie said...

Glad that you threw off that bug, Lynne!

Loretta.....salad? Are you dieting??

I, too, am very glad about Van der Sloot's sentence....seriously doubt that his accommodations are any better than they were when the HLN reporter toured the prison last year....and if he's thrown in with the general population, he may end up dead in short order. What a waste he is.
For those who don't know or remember.....Natalie's Mom now lives in the Annandale area---Judie told us about that a while back.

Linda said...

Hey Lynne! Happy to hear you are all feeling better!

Judie said...

Hi everyone,

I seem to be headed for an early night of slumber.

Wanda, not to worry. Some people are inclined to see a surgical procedure ahead of time and others are not. It depends on individual comfort zone and tolerance. I can look at the more horrible crime scenes but cannot tolerate the sight of my own blood. You do not need to know every detail.

Red, best of luck dude with your surgery. Prayers for a complete and quick recovery. How nice you and Hoda have a Canadian connection.

Prayers continue for Tori. She has been through more than most people could even begin to appreciate.

Wanda, thinking of your upcoming surgery. Prayers are with you my dear friend.

The night light is set to come on at 11:00pm for anyone who may need to arise in the darkness, will be headed back the hallway, down to the tub, up the stairs, or wandering in late from the West coast and British Columbia. Restful sleep for all.

HELP!!! My icon on the bottom of the screen that shows my Webroot security says infected. I can't open it to see what to do...

stronghunter said...

Oh, Lynne, I don't know anything about that kind of problem. Someone?

Lynne2 said...

SOS!!!

Everything seems to be working ok, but I just can't get the program open. And of course, no one is in tech support over the weekend.

Hoda said...

Sorry LYNNE I know nothing about Webroot...Can you run a regular virus check and disinfect?

Hoda said...

It is snowing here and 25 degrees...very pretty out there...

Lolly said...

Oh, Lynne, so sorry, no help from me. No nothing about it.

Hoda said...

I tried to google it LYNNE and it was not too helpful...Webroot is your security system so I guess you can not run the regular anti virus check and delete either then!!! Sorry.

Lynne2 said...

well, I can't figure out what to do. Tech support unavailable til Monday. guess I'll just shut down and restart. If I am gone after this, don't worry. Someday I'll have enough money for a new computer.

Lolly said...

well, we can not wait till "someday".
We might have to take up a collection to get a computer to get you back. Can not do without Lynne2.

hedgie said...

Lynne-ie----send Red an email....he can probably help!!

Janet said...

Paula & Hedgie

Heelers are very interesting dogs. They must be busy busy busy...need jobs. Quite literally. We have had two in our family; our first was Red Dog (yes he was red, and no not a particularly original name, but okay). He died @ 4 of cancer. He had these clear blue eyes....big old teddy bear to us, but disliked anyone not in his family....

And after he passed, the doberman was beside herself....so we adopted another heeler, a blue, whom we have to this day. Luke is his name, He's 11 now and quite the old man. He's named after Cool Hand Luke (the movie).

I am glad to foster Kora....its been a challenge...We ahve 3 dogs and 3 cats of our own, so everyone knows when a "baby" comes in, adjustments have to be made. She's adjusted quite well, really. My shopping list always includes hooves and other good tough chew items, she LOVES to chew.

I would not recommend heelers to everyone . You need a yard and a lot of patience. But if you want a good herding dog, or if you want a dog to do those doggie obstacle courses, they are right on!

*smiles*

Hoda said...

Don't disappear too long LYNNE...I'll have to send some handsome officers in their red surges from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police down your way to tell you we love you and miss you on the blog...COME BACK...those chaps are very persuasive!!!LOL!!!

stronghunter said...

Yes, I was thinking about Red, too. He is a computer expert.

Lynne2 said...

Thanks Lynn, I sent him and email. I just can't figure what went wrong but it must be bad for the software to not open. I have no idea what's happening in the computer...if thing are being destroyed or my private info is hacked. UGH. I haven't visited any weird websites or opened any unknown emails....

Lynne2 said...

LOL Hoda! Like Dudley Doright!

I'm afraid to shut down and restart...I've heard that sometimes that makes things worse.

Janet said...

Has anyone actually TRIED those doggie thunder shirts???? Let me know if they work. I have two that are terrified of thunder. Luke crawls under the piano bench and would cover his eyes if he could and beano shakes like a leaf in the wind..... thanks!

stronghunter said...

Rus posted this on FB earlier today. Maybe Friday the 13th has something to do with Lynne's computer problems, too.
(In case you aren't aware, Rus is short for Cyrus.)

Friday the 13th tally so far: 3:00am drunken revelers create ruckus in front of my house waking me up. 8:00am a tree blows down across Canal Road, closing it and making me more than an hour late. 11:00am my work laptop gets a virus. Still ten hours to go. Word to the wise, stay away from Bethesda, the beltway, and Springfield due to the possibility of meteor impacts in the proximity of Cyrus.

Lynne2 said...

OH NO Shirley...poor Rus! And I had that same Friday the 13th thought about the virus.

stronghunter said...

Well, Lynne, I posted on our Scrabble game that you need Red's help with a computer issue. Maybe he will see that before he sees the e-mail.

He does check the Scrabble game pretty often.

Lynne2 said...

thanks Shirley!

Not that I want to make anything out of my recent advance in age, but things have not gone so well in the last week......LOL!

Lynne2 said...

OK, off to a hat shower....getting a cold chill and need to warm up. BBL

Lynne2 said...

or, at least I THINK I'll BBL....LOL! I may be MIA!

Red said...

Lynne, chances are all you need to do is reboot. I would even power it off as power off clears memory.
I have never used webroot but doubt you have a virus. Sometimes a software glitch occurs and all you need to do is reboot. Actually rebooting will cure 75% of all computer problems. Really!

Red said...

Have been out to dinner with Diane. My Friday night reward for cooking dinner all week.

Think I'll call it a day now. See y'all tomorrow

Lynne2 said...

thanks Red, I'll give it a try and see what happens.....

here we go.....

NatureNut said...

WOW! Red to the rescue. That's good to know---reboot.We're told to do that at work occasionally.
It had to be the 13th, because had a 'puter class this morning on "facility booking".It's mostly for rentals of Park properties, such as camping, big picnic area, etc. They go thru workbook so fast that you really don't know much until you start doing it. However at Park, I don't know if anyone else is there that knows it on my days! The instructor said we could call him at the HelpDesk anytime. He'll be sorry!!

Hope you'll BBL over the weekend, Lynne! Glad you & Steve are feeling better.

Gotta hit the hay, so Pleasant Feather Dreams & Prayers for ALL ;>)

Hope you're BBL over the weekend, Lynne! Glad you & Steve are feeling better.

Sorry for duplicate sentence~~~~Duh

Lynne2 said...

well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit!!! It worked!

Glad you and Diane had a nice evening out!

Jo, great that you slept well last night. Repeat, repeat, repeat!

Janet, interesting info about the heelers. Definitely not a dog for me! I can't handle energetic anymore.

hedgie said...

Rus sure did have a lousy day, Shirley! Hope it never got any worse.

hedgie said...

LOL, Hoda----old southern expression!!!! Great one, isn't it???!!!
How about "I'm as fine as frog hairs." Ever heard it? Imagine them both with a good ol' southern drawl!!!

stronghunter said...

Well, I am from the South and that is a new one on me, too!

But, I guess he is better right now than he was Wednesday night.

Thanks, Lynn...I did read your note about Greys and PP. I only missed 10 minutes of it after reading your comment. I enjoy both of those shows, even though PP get a little boring at times. Just something a little girly about both of them and I like "girly":)

Costume Lady said...

Margy, glad there is a little hope for Fred to get well, but, my gosh...80% of his colon...that is so much! Wonder if there is such a thing as a colon transplant?

GG is ecstatic that she will get to see JAYDEN tomorrow. She's afraid he won't remember her:)
The whole family will be there, except for Jillian and she is coming on Sunday after church!

My heart is singing♫♪♫♪♫♪GOOD NIGHT MY LOVE, PLEASANT DREAMS AND SLEEP TIGHT MY LOVE♫♪♫♪♫♪

hedgie said...

Margy, good to know that Fred is making steady improvement. 80% of colon....yikes....colostomy, I assume?
Glad the nice officer treated you right!

Wanda, glad you caught the shows last night. I think that PP is getting boring and irritating....the girls and I think it will probably NOT be back next year, and I think that the plan has been in the works that Grey's will end this year, too.

Diann, you are making such fast visits, we don't get to chat with you!

Hoda, am I right in assuming that all of your teas are herbal and not caffeinated??

hedgie said...

Wanda, there ARE colon transplants, but they aren't real common.
Not sure of success rate.

Hope you reassured GG that Jayden really WILL remember her??? Sweet!

Lolly said...

Margy, good report on your brother, Fred. We need to keep the prayers going.

Nails are done, news is long over. Time for my hot shower and comfy pj's.

Nite all! Sweet dreams! Enjoy the new bed, Hoda!!!

Hoda said...

WOW MARGY!!! scarry to be pulled over at night on a country road...I am not sure I would have stopped...!!! Was it a regular cruiser could you tell from behind you? I had that happen to me once where I was flagged by an unmarked police cruiser at night and I did not stop till I got home,it was dark and inbetween small towns...no one else on the road. I was very nervous that he followed me into town, but he was not tail gaiting me which helped...tail light was not working on the truck, I had been rear ended earlier the night and had a paper from another officer who had come to the scene of the accident...

Good news on your brother and I hope he continues to improve...PRAYERS

Hoda said...

Morning teas are black and caffeinated LYNN. Afternoon and evening teas are herbal...you are right...

hedgie said...

Good, Hoda....so you really should sleep like a baby in your new bed!!

I am ready to head for my old one! No alarm in the morning....so hope I sleep in!!

Many prayers for many needs being said.

Rest well, dear friends. Love you much.

What a wonderful group we have! I took a lonnnnnnng nap yesterday and got up at midnight and read the blog...then I was awake for a few hours! I'm up again ready for the new day that God puts before me.

CarolAnne, I think your bloggers cookbook is a great idea (tho I don't cook, but love cookbooks)!

Hoda, I don't even have to hope, I KNOW you slept beautifully in your new bed.

Red, your drawing for Shep is superb! I've been looking for someone to draw a BIG eagle I could tranfer onto fabric and quilt...let me know if you are the guy for the job! You're awesome.

Sandi, I hope the Thundershirt works for Bandit. I bet it will. I've heard many positive stories. Enjoy your trip to your Moms.

Diann, so glad to hear that Patrick's problems are not as serious as you had feared. Praise God!

Lynn, I'm so happy for you that you get two whole days of nothingness to stay at home and relax. Leisl and you will love it.

Morning early birders. Could one of you arrange to let my dogs out on the weekends. lol I don't need to be up this early (5 am, my time) on weekends but they are creatures of habit and raring to go at 4:30 in the morning.

JANET - RE: THUNDER SHIRT, We use one for one of our dogs for car riding. Always eager to go for a ride but plasters himself in the corner, literally under the other dog & whines the entire time. Loud noises startle him, but not the way a car ride upsets him. With the shirt on he lays QUIETLY in the backseat. He doesn't scratch or pull at the shirt. Took a few rides, but it has made a big difference. Here are some good/bad reviews to help you decide: Thunders shirt reviews

Kay I see you made a comment about HP happening in the branches. I had that same thought when I read about another nest and HP being observed in the tree limbs. I was hoping that was the case for our pair.

Still reading....

Lori O. said...

If I gotta be up because of the dogs at least I got to see some Eagles, get a hug, and enjoy some poetry/limericks.

Now it is a more reasonable time to start the day - will be off to get a "do", and get food for the cupboards, as alas, they are bare, and to prep some snacks for tomorrows f.ball game.

Take care all!

Sweet dreams, JudyE! Have a great day at work if I don't see you before then.

DanaMo said...

Time to figure out what I want to do with my day. Should I start by going back to bed? Clean the kitchen? Grossery store (gotta do that before 1 the dogs are out of food)? Dinner tonight is pizza and beer. Invited Fr. Marty over for pizza and a cut-throat game of Monopoly with the whole gang. Should be a lot of laughs.

magpie said...

Eagle on the nest at Blackwater...head looks a little spotty...kind of like Shep has looked sometimes...

I'm leaving for work now...

THANKS for the prayers and words of encouragement...regarding my brother Fred and our family

xoxo

Lori O. said...

Margy, do you have the latest on Fred? Anything new, yet?

grannyblt said...

Morning eagle buddies. Caught the last couple of minutes of this morning's visit. Missed yesterday even though I kept the puter on all day....
Good news Margy about Fred. He has a long row ahead, but we'll keep him up in prayer.
The kids (pets) around here have a pet door so I don't have to get up for that, but the new kitten William, starts sleeping on my face around 430 most days. I try to ignore as long as I can. He is ready for breakfast the second I get out of bed. I'm afraid he will trip me some day.

Back for a moment to share this link for Baltimore's University of Maryland Medical Center. Robyn has posted on Caring Bridge---Tori has been successfully transferred there for further treatment.

UMMC, Lung Transplants

Lori O. said...

Great news about Tori being transferred, Kay! Thanks for sharing. Prayers continue that she gets a transplant soon!

Kay said...

Robyn, Caring Bridge 01/14/12:

Long Day
It was a long day, Tori got transported to UMMC adult side for different treatment, the transport took forever due to paperwork, protocols, insurance and so on.

I am grateful to the entire staff at Hopkins, Pulm, Transplant, floor 9 and PICU, they didn't give up on her and she has a chance at life once again. Since Tori got listed she instantly got sick, it was a close one and if they waited one or two more days she may not have made the list at all with what she has going on now.

I feel confident Tori will move forward in recovering to be placed back on the list if they do the vv echmo, she is young, strong and other than bad lungs she is healthy.

Tori still has a long way to go but she has family and friends by her side, and many prayers and well wishes from all of you! Thank you

Tomorrow brings another day and me so ehausted I can't stay awake and finish

Tori is in great hands, she needs to keep moving forward

And, of course we will continue praying, dear ROBYN !!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

grannyblt said...

Thanks for the updateon Tori, Kay. Let us remember to keep Robyn in our prayers. She does sound exhausted.

had a couple more info things on Bro Fred...
he has been checked for blood clots, none found
He has a humor about all this....is trying to limit his talking to 100 words a day and is using hand signals...
also he asked the doctor:
"am I deceased?"

is on some sort of feeding tube or IV nutrition...I'm not asking too many other questions right now....all that will come in time

Good Morning, Lynn...
