LINDA, xoxo♥♥♥ right back at cha' ! I hereby vow to check in a least once a day, even if only to say, I'm okay, just resting ! I'm just flabbergasted by the depth of concern and love conveyed by my Eagle Buds ! Thank you all and I will do a better job of checking in as I want no undue worries over me !

MEMA JO, thanks for the heads up on the PPO ! I've been forgetting to check in on her. Great excitement now !

JUDYE, the October picture on my Nature Conservancy calendar is one of two adult (nine inches tall)burrowing owls. It was taken at Brian Picccolo Park, Cooper City, FL. Where is that ? They are adorable owls with very serious looks on their faces.

Linda said...

KAY - Thanks ♥ You've just been so sick, I got worried! You're also always good about checking in here at least once a day.

Twice a day is great, but at least once a day keeps us from worrying too much.

I am not one to talk. I get busy in the middle of my weeks and rarely get the chance to even post once a day. I think it makes me cranky when I can't get my Shepherdstown Eagle Blog fix!!

wvgal_dana said...

JudyE Can't comment on your blog page either. My Comment: awwww it is so so cute and little. Hope those boys take good care of the bunny.

wvgal_dana said...

Hedgie-Lynn/e Kay had ask before we split - How did Carolyn get the nickname of Jewells?

Mema Jo said...

Lynn - eggs were laid very first part of Sept. So I guess, they are ready!
Like Kay I sometimes forget to watch that cam... especially with the time
difference.

hedgie said...

Carolyn chose Jewels for her email address a long time ago----she follows it with the birthyears of her girls who are her gems (jewels)!!

hedgie said...

Kay, we couldn't work out a schedule for all getting togther for Carolyn's birthday. She is working the weekend, and then is off starting tomorrow---when Christie will be working 2nd shift. We toyed with the idea of going out last night after Carolyn got off, but Christie has a bad cold and said she wouldn't enjoy her meal, so why spend the big bucks? Plus the weather was SO cruddy. Kids don't eat seafood....so Carolyn and I are going to Red Lobster for an early dinner tomorrow by ourselves----unless Charlie wants to join us.

hedgie said...

Halftime.

Shirley, forgot to ask how is your throat today?
What are the party plans? Happy early b-day to Rus!

hedgie said...

Field goal, Skins! 17-0.

Linda said...

OMG is true LOLLY!!! The fire is close. I will be very HAPPY when TEXAS just gets a pouring of RAIN...

GOOD AFTERNOON/ GOOD EVENING Everyone.

I spent a longer time reading this morning and I did not get to check in before I left...SORRY.

Went to a TERRIFIC Yoga Practice and then to brunch and then to the Co-op, the health food store, for my weekly groceries. Such a terrific day really. It is overcast and gray and people are still walking around holding on to no ice sleet or snow phenomena and we are all elated to simply be alive. The cafés are full and there is a genuine sense of wellness. The plates from New York and New Mexico are still in town so we are not enjoying this only amongst ourselves...we are sharing...there are plates from Alberta also. Next week will be busy in Nelson again because it is a three day weekend.

SO GLAD KAY CHECKED IN. It is OK KAY geet as much rest as yiou need and your energy will restore itself.

NO MRS. MOUSE is very good news...

This weekend I will have to start with the electronic advertisement for the African Dinner in the middle of November...I think it is amazing to advertise on the internet and not have to pay anything for it...

My heart is full of wellness and GRATITUDE...I think this week I will go to the wool shop to get some wool to make a tuque...a good way to greet the change of seasons.
THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING MY FRIENDS.{{{{{hugs}}}}}

hedgie said...

Howdy, Hoda dear. What is a tuque??

Hoda said...

I see the site meter JUDYE. Interesting information it reveals...for anyone keeping track of such things.

LYNN a tuque is a woolen hat...it can be any shape. It is a French Canadian expression used by most of us even outside of Québec. I enjoy knitting so I thought it would be fun to make me a new one this year.I might have to buy a new coat also so I am wondering about colours. I also noticed Dumpling not pie, still yum yum yum with a cup of tea...

hedgie said...

Well, Hoda, come on down and I'll share! I looked up tuque---what color are you THINKING about???

JudyE---yeah, the site meter has been there all along!

Hubby came home with a $20 large bag of Halloween candy - I mentioned we had about 3 weeks before Tric/Treaters came

5 or 6 that knock on the door) He couldn't pass it up due to all the good brands he loves are in that bag! I said
HIDE IT!

Lynne2 said...

well, I see the Steelers FUBARed another one....Glad I didn't watch. Being out in the rain trimming back bushes and pulling weeds was probably less annoying.

Mema Jo said...

Would all of you bloggers check out your email messages for the b-day

Sure need to know of any momster/dadster that I would have missed.

Yes Mema Jo I use to get the candy. Ed would always say, "Make sure you get what I like". So I would but get a different bag for the kids. Left that bag for the BIG KID. "I SURE DO MISS THOSE FUNNY THINGS HE WOULD PULL'.

Mema Jo said...

Dana It is funny and lovingly the small memories we keep of our lives together!

hedgie said...

Yep, Jo...got it fine! TY!

So what kind of candy is in that big bag??? THere's not TOO many kinds of candy I like, but a few---like Reese's PB Cups---will tempt me everytime!

Hoda said...

OH MY OH MY OH MY!!! I am a talker!!! I got lost on planet SKYPE with SAMIA since I last posted. Her daughter is having problems with her mother in law and the other daughter's fiancé wants to get married before the new home is set up...this does not happen in our family partly Egyptian tradition and partly family rules. So I heard the stories...

JO I like turquoise tuque with ear flaps...I will see what I can come up with.

LYNN enjoy one dumpling please for me...apples would be so delicious in a dumpling...house food smells qare so welcome in autumn.

Now I will go get lost on the cell phone with a friend I speak to twice a month. Her name is Joanna and she lives on the coast in BC and we have known each other since 1980 when we were both in ALBERTA. She moved with her husband to BC shortly after I did. He comes from Scotland and wanted to be near the water and highland type climates...loves the heathers...talk to you later...

hedgie said...

Kay, my chili and cornbread is down the hatch! How 'bout yours??

paula eagleholic said...

HEY HEY MARGY, there is hope for those green tomatoes...I just found 4 ripe ones in my garden, and have more starting to turn....and you can also pick them before the first frost and they will ripen as well

Mema Jo said...

I was just reading up on Paw Paws and decided what is in my back yard is
NOT....... Need to find out what I have on that tree......

hedgie said...

Hoda, do you talk to Joanne's hubby, too? I love listening to the Scottish brogue! My maternal grandfather was Scottish---his parents came over to Canada in the 1850's as children. I did not know them, but Pop sure could imitate their speech patterns!
We had a lady at work who was Scottish and so many couldn't understand her---I had NO problem!

wvgal_dana said...

Going to log off and watch some tv.

I have a dental appointment in AM tomorrow. Might not be on.

Everyone please take care and stay WARM!!!

Mema Jo said...

Lynn - Snickers is the favorite I think

Do you have any Apple Dumplings left over? Yummy!

PA Nana said...

Did the Skins win? Missed the roundup.

PA teams played lousy today.

Sorry, did I say hello yet? Was over on fb posting and don't remember if I posted a hi here.

Lynn, have to tell you since you like spiders as much as I do.
Yesterday I watched a spider no bigger than the head of a pin attack a stink bug.

No sure which one won but they both disappeared under the heat baseboard. Not sure if I want to vacuum the spiders anymore.

Also, saw a hummer today in spite of the temp.

Another football game so I'm off to watch Jets vs. Ravens.

Kay, a special hello and keep resting. It took me several months to recover from my surgical infection.

off to watch tv. Have a good evening everyone. ♥♥♥♥

Kay said...

LYNN, a one on one birthday dinner with your "Jewel" sounds wonderful good to me ! Our Chili and Cornbread dinner was down the hatch by 7:11, too. Sure did hit the spot on a 55 degree day !

DIANN and HODA, thanks for your encouragement ! Have never had an ultra-serious infection before and can testify to the fact that they really do zap ya !

Linda said...

Apple Dumplings in our oven, too, Lynn!!

We picked a half bushel of the honey crisp apples, which are sooooo good.

I do love grannysmith apples for baking, though.

Still fighting this headache. :( Pounds when I move and my eyes are burning.

I go through periods like this from time to time. Just never welcome it!

paula eagleholic said...

Oh Linda, those honeycrisp are the best! Picked up some last weekend on my way home from the beach...

Kay said...

LINDA, praying this episode of headaches is over real soon ! Back in the 70's I was plagued with migraines. The doc had me on Percocet for them and it was pretty effective---don't know if that is a common remedy these days or not. I left my first husband in March of 1980 and have not had a migraine since. Not saying that's a valid treatment for anyone else. Especially you because I know you have a super dupe guy at your side !

Kay said...

No need to wish some of you an "Apple Dumpling Dandy Day"--you are doing so right now !

Time to turn on the TV and find just the right program to fall asleep on !☺ I missed the last ten minutes of The Mentalist Thursday. I'm getting very good at that.

Prayers for all in need and prayers of thanks for all those offered up on my behalf !

♥L♥I♥B♥E♥R♥T♥Y ! ! ! ! ! ! !

LINDA, a Super Duper Guy, of course !!!!!

:(

Linda said...

Restful sleep and sweet dreams, Kay!

Hope tomorrow you're feeling better than today...... xo ♥

Never had percocet prescribed for my migraines, but went to a neurologist for years. I do have migraine meds but I hate the side effects. I did finally take one tonight. I am supposed to take one when I feel the migraine coming on, but I always seem to think I can fight it off.

The medication I take is Relpax - which is a triptan like Imitrex (that is the one most advertised on tv, but didn't work for me.)

Hoda said...

LYNN, I sometimes talk to George, Joanna's husband and I do love his way of putting things and his whole approach to life, He is an artist, used to be a college professor of art for his working life and he has a way of seeing things that give me pause.

LINDA I hope your headache improves soon...Have you tried a strong cup of tea? I am sure you do not need anymore advice as to how to look after this headache since you have had it for a while.I send many prayers your way...The house dumpling aroma's must be heavenly at your place too...

My Oh My time to think of something to eat. For brunch I had INSANELY DELICIOUS WAFFLES, that's what they were called, and I am feeling a need for some protein and a salad of sorts...

Linda said...

HODA - Thanks for your concern and suggestion. I haven't had any tea yet, but maybe it is time to have some. I usually don't drink hot tea until it gets cold.......and I think it's about that time.

I am used to these headaches. I just don't like how they slow me down. I can work like crazy for a few days and then be shut down for a few days with these darn things!!

Linda said...

Jo - Wildcam 3 on that site has 4 raccoons eating right now. It looks like it is snowing, too.

Wow! Ravens have scored, Redskins won, (Cowboys lost), Carl Edwards won the truck race last night and Kurt Busch won today's Nascar race!
Tons of other sports on this weekend, too!
We had the usual gray & now chilly day. Fubby couldn't stand it anymore & turned on the heat this AM.

paula eagleholic said...

The only thing about honeycrisp, is that they are an early season apple...like now! Gotta get 'em and enjoy 'em while they last!

OK, gonna go do a couple of things before the Good Wife starts!

Mema Jo said...

Hi Loretta! Guess you didn't have to make chili for fubby today if you had the heat already on! I wanted some ice cream! Softee ice cream place closed - guess it was too cold for them.

Sad tale about our lovely Monarchs.
All in all, I saw fewer butterfliesv this year than I can ever remember. Some were very plentiful in spring after we had all that rain for flowers, but then they diminished.

Yep---haven't dug into the dumplings yet. 2 of them are for Carolyn for her b-day instead of cake! She loves them!!

Di, serious doubts that an 8-legged that tiny would do much to a stinkbug......I would not let it live!!! UGH!

Hope the Ravens are winning----Skins DID, Di!!!

PA Nana said...

Jo, thanks for reminding me of the Good Wife. Totally forgot!

Will be floating back and forth between the game and The Good Wife.

Also saw that the Skins won. Lynn, who is that wearing #47? I
think someone else wore that one a few years back.

back to tv.

wonder if Kay was listening last night with Malcom...think it was Sat's show

Linda
I spent many a year with persistent migraines and missed out on many important things...always had a three-day bout with them, nearly once a month...
pretty much under control now...
take Fioricet (some kind of aspirin product) at the onset, and then Imitrex if that doesn't take care of it...but I see, that one does not work for you :(

magpie said...

JO
Love the Hallowe'en candy report, and also
sounds like a great basement expedition Monday, sure your girls know exactly how to do what needs to be done to your specifications !

Lolly said...

Hi all! What a day! It has been beautiful! Watered all the pots. Did last minute loading into the trailer, Annie is at "camp". Late this afternoon she became to suspect something was up. She asked for supper and we gave it to her, but she ate very little. We have wised up and did not let her out. Oh, did she get mad at us! She hissed and swiped at us when we left her. Oh, was she MAD!

Need to go clean up the kitchen and we are ready to go! Going to try to get away by 6:30 in the morning.

hedgie said...

Yikes---more snoow in PA. Ridiculous! Is that two mature squirrels, Jo?? Or is it younguns??

Oh, Judy, you don't know what you're missing if you've never had apple dumplings!!
Having spent my early adulthood next to inlaws' (FIL managed it actually) orchard, I think I have made/fixed everything possible with apples!!!

Kay, do you have a DVR or VCR? I tape everything I want to see....that way, if I do drift off, I can catch what I missed!!

Almost time for The Good Wife!

Hello everyone,

This has been an unexpectedly busy day filled with lots of changes and adjustments. I'll provide more details tomorrow (I hope) but Darth and I are now the parents of two Bombay cats. They are about 4 or 5 years old and we are all going through the first few hours of adjustments.

I'll be back in the morning.

The night light is on for those who need to arise in the dark (or those who must check on new family members) and for Andy who may arrive from the West coast. Restful sleep for all (has a new meaning for me).

some migraine meds include a LARGE DOSE of caffeine, as I am sure you know...
and some folks follow it or accompany it with Mountain Dew...on the other hand, sometimes caffeine might instigate one!
A thorny bothersome ailment for sure!
I pray for some relief for you....that a doctor can come up with the right formula for you

I forgot to add Birthday Greetings for your Rus and Kathryn...
Happy Birthday ! To these two fine folks on their respective past and future dates...xoxo ♥

Lynne2 said...

Love those Honey Crisp apples! Made a FABULOUS pie with them once upon a time.

Linda, so sorry you are plagued by these headaches....you've been to a DR, haven't you???

Hoda, beautiful words by N. H.

Loretta, I have 6 chrysalis (there were 7 but one of the 2 that were on the day lillies is GONE. Looks like something came and munched on them last night) hanging that should emerge this week. They'll be longer developing due to cool temps but unless they have been attacked by any parasites they should be fine. Hopefully they'll find enough oasis sort of places to refuel in the south.

Lolly said...

Hi Judie! Had to google Bombay Cats. They are beautiful! lol Just in time for Halloween. Will be interesting to learn their story.

hedgie said...

Not only is that Hawthorne quote lovely, Jo, but I also beleive that if a butterfly visits us, it is a loved one gone coming to say Hi!

Hi Jo, I really did cook a dinner, but fubby said he already had Chef Boyardee Spaghetti! I fixed baked tilapia filets, grussel sprouts and baked potatoes--there are leftovers of course!

The one little nature story for today is about Forestville
"Leonard". He's the local groundhog who is looking larger than one at Park. Saw him in a neighbor's backyard. There was something black & white on the
grass. Leonard was close to chain link fence & instead of climbing, he squeezed under it and ran up that yard.Meanwhile the black & white thing that was closeby started running around in circles! It was a playful cat that must have approved of the friendly meeting!
Gotta go--make a phone call, root 4Ravens ☺

Lynne2 said...

OMG JUDIE!! WOW, congrats!!! Bombays are NICE cats, very lovely dovey, and gorgeous! Are they black or sable and what color eyes??? DETAILS WOMAN, DETAILS!!

2 types...British, usually have green eyes, and American usually have orange eyes! Cool! They look very similar. The American ones were actually bred to resemble a Panther, and they are called Parlor Panthers!

Can't wait to see pictures!

my Morning Glories are climbing a stake in the midst of my Flowering Tobacco plants, but I do not think they will bloom this year...but, next year !
Thanks!
And don't give up on the Forget-me-Nots over the winter, they might get pretty wilted looking, just trim them up a bit, and hope for next Springtime !

I would have had Fubby's portion of that fine meal today !

Lynne2 said...

Margy, what I believed to be the Forget me Nots didn't make it in the deluges of rain :(

Last time at MILs we went to a Buckwheat Pancake breakfast in Kingwood. Across the street from the fire hall, there was a lamp post with a "tent" of MGs! They had several heavy strings about 2 feet out from the post, and all around and meeting at the top of the post. The MGs looked beautiful climbing up!

Hi,

Very sleepy here. Susan and I shopped for the family get-together We had spaghetti, salad, and Italian rum cake.

My throat is much better, but my hand looks terrible. The first attempt at setting up an IV on my hand was not successful and resulted in an ugly bruise.

Good night. Rest well everyone. I am heading upstairs.

THE COMPANY OF OLDER WOMEN or COOWS,pronounced KOOS, have invited me to join them for Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday. I am so pleased. They are a group where there is someone in her late ninties and I am in my early sixties...They speak their mind and have been responsible for bringing about many changes to the City of Nelson.A Strong Group of women who were born and raised here, who stared the Women's Shelter, Who saved the College in the era when they thought there was not enough funding to keep it going, Last year they demonstrated to have the city clear the ice from the LAKESIDE Park Pathways as they like to go there in the winter so they could get their exercise. There are SENIORS Exercise machines there that they also lobbied to have installed.
So you see I will be in good company for THANKSGIVING. Good modelling examples of healthy seniors they are. I feel pleased and very honoured.

For ALL THE STRONG MOMSTERS AND DADSTERS:

BREAD AND ROSES

As we go marching, marching, in the beauty of the day,
A million darkened kitchens, a thousand mill lofts gray,
Are touched with all the radiance that a sudden sun discloses,
For the people hear us singing: Bread and Roses! Bread and Roses!
As we go marching, marching, we battle too for men,
For they are women's children, and we mother them again.
Our lives shall not be sweated from birth until life closes;
Hearts starve as well as bodies; give us bread, but give us roses.
As we go marching, marching, unnumbered women dead
Go crying through our singing their ancient call for bread.
Small art and love and beauty their drudging spirits knew.
Yes, it is bread we fight for, but we fight for roses too.
As we go marching, marching, we bring the greater days,
The rising of the women means the rising of the race.
No more the drudge and idler, ten that toil where one reposes,
But a sharing of life's glories: Bread and roses, bread and roses.
Our lives shall not be sweated from birth until life closes;
Hearts starve as well as bodies; bread and roses, bread and roses.

Lynn, missed that typo!!!Just about everything green like that, I put on melted butter and lemon juice. Then, can eat anything!

Daughter back from Vienna--had just hauled suitcase, etc. up 40 steps. I can't believe apt. they're in now doesn't have elevator!! She has to put set of slides together for presentation at 8AM!!! We didn't talk long. Instead of trip being a diversion, seems everything she sees reminds her of things they had, like books about all the foreign museums! DUH
All I could think to say was she can look forward to replacing some of it.
Gotta see if Ravens won. At start of game, they showed fans eating steamed crabs!!!! YUM!
For all those hitting the hay, Good Health & Pleasant Feather Dreams ;>)

Good shows tonight! Even tho' a little off schedule.
Have noticed a LOT of cross-acting between various shows! Tonight it was actors from The Bold & the Beautiful and Army Wives on CSI: Miami. Sometimes gets confusing!! One from House was on The Good Wife last Sunday!

Hi, Everyone!
Checking in from Lake Tahoe! We got to our friend Andrea D.'s house in Minden, NV yesterday at about 4:30 pm, and we stayed there last night. Met her Sweetie, Ward, and we like him--he's a keeper! He has a golden retriever named Bailey. (Haven't met Bailey yet.) After a late breakfast, we headed to Lake Tahoe, and we are staying at the Marriott Timber Lodge. VERY nice 2-br, 2ba suite with full kitchen, washer & dryer, jacuzzi bathtub, and a nice balcony. Missing Emma something AWFUL, but trying to enjoy ourselves.

Haven't read back here yet--going to do that now. BBIALW!

MESSAGE TO ALL EARLY MORNING EAGLE WATCHERS: BEFORE LONG, THE LIVE CAM WILL BE WORKING AND THE NESTORATIONS IN PREPARING FOR A NEW BROOD WILL BEGIN. AT THAT TIME, THERE WILL BE MORE MOMSTERS JOINING IN WITH THE EARLY BIRDS, FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. THAT MEANS THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO GET MORE TABLES AND SEATS AND A MUCH LARGER COFFEE MAKER...WE WILL BRING BREAKFAST WITH US IF THAT IS OK WITH YOU. LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT TIME, HOPE YOU ALL ARE ALSO:)

DanaMo said...

Wanda! You are too funny! We would love to fill the cafe with more eagle watchers in the early morning hours! We'll put on several pots and flavors if necessary to accommodate all the early morning birds! :)

Good morning. It's ANOTHER rainy one in Hagerstown so I assume it's raining at the nest. I can't believe it!
