Oh, Lynne, I hope I had a 25-pound bowling ball for you.

What a mess. I am sorry you are having to go through this.

Lynne2 said...

Bad and Rotten want to go out so I better tend to the needs of their Royal Highnesses....

stronghunter said...

May the car dealer drop a 25-pound bowling ball on his toe.

Lynne2 said...

LOL! I couldn't lift a 25lb BB...WAY back, when I used to bowl a bit, I had a 10lb ball. I'd love to bowl again!

Lolly said...

Watching Body of Proof. Nice to have the programs back.

Lynne2 said...

I didn't bowl well. But I always had fun! You will too Shirley....gee, remember when Fred Flintstone took Ballet lessons to improve his game? LOL!

stronghunter said...

We almost had a cat fight on the coffee table tonight. Lucky was crying upstairs, so Hunter brought him down to join us. Lucky sat on the sofa growling and hissing. Suddenly, George pounced on the coffee table with his tail all fluffed up. He was growling. We sent Lucky back upstairs while restraining George.

stronghunter said...

I think a 25 pound ball would be hard to come by.

stronghunter said...

About time for me to head upstairs. I will see you all tomorrow. Good night and God bless.

hedgie said...

Stars are bright, but no moonie yet.
How was your workday, Margy??

hedgie said...

Good one, Shirley, about the 20# ball!!!!

JudyE---do you REALLY think that your SPCA friend can do anything??? WOuldn't that be awesome? Of course, it's too late now.....at least for 150. But it sure sounds like they will be getting plenty more in in short order.

Judie said...

I slipped past the sandperson and must quietly click the computer keys to say the night light is on for anyone arising in the darkness or coming in late from the West coast. Restful sleep for all.

I got some pics---have not dwnlded camera yet. They were spread apart---only about 3 of them & pretty far away. In PM, one seemed smaller that the other, but maybe it was crouched. Both had yellow beaks, so they must have been the same.I may have gotten a pic of one flying. They don't even like if your across the river from them--they take off!
I have accidently spooked a heron 3times lately. I stop by the eagle nest and check the water height in the creek that runs under the road there. And when I start to walk to one side, a heron jumps up in the air!He must bhe almost inside the pipe! So today, I snuck up on the other side of the pipe at edge of road & he wasn't there,of course!!!

I've gotta write a letter & maybe get a snack, so if I don't return, Please Have Pleasant Feather Dreams
& Best Wishes ;>) for all ailing, like Diann,Kay & Justin & any others I missed ☺

hedgie said...

Glad the cat fight was averted! G'night, Shirley. Hope toe is much better come morning!!!

Lynne2 said...

OK, this evening must end. I just took the dogs out, and there is one very angry skunk discharging all over the place out there. Not really a problem, better skunk than pollution, but I had the fan in the window blowing in so by the time I got back....well, the living room has a slight Eaud de Skunk now. Brother sneaked in and has ripped apart the recycle bag. I had to kill 10 stinkbugs. OK, so that was fun! Tried to put Bad's bed cover back on her bed, and she grabbed her bed and ran. Tired to put Rotten's bedding in her basket and while trying to keep her out of it, she bit me. Not enough to break the skin, but she is in BIG TROUBLE.

Lynne2 said...

Can't wait to see the pics! I've never seen one in person!

oh Shirley, I sure with the cats could just get along....glad the fight was averted.

Lynne2 said...

I forgot to mention...at MILs this weekend, Bad chewed her harness off while outside on a 40 foot run, and got loose. YIKES!!! She ran right over to Steve, thank GOD, instead of towards the horse and the barbed wire! She also got into some of my FILs socks.....UGH! Rotten kept jumping on everyone at meal time. They were just awful! Good thing I love them most of the time!

Lynne2 said...

OH! A guy that I used to work with at the bad vet who has since quit....he is bringing his dogs to us now! Nice to see him again...and he was so kind as to bring me a little shot of home made peach flavored moonshine! It was in a jar, and everyone thought it was a urine sample! I think I won't try it...the smell alone would knock a buzzard off a carcass....

Lynne2 said...

going to bed...have a good night everyone, prayers for all!

paula eagleholic said...

Lynne, sounds like the dogs were full of it tonight!

Lowreeda, the herons at the beach are really scaredy cats! Hard to get close to them at all!

Hoda said...

SO sorry about JUSTIN's broken foot.

MARGY the story I wrote was the one about The Lower NOrth Shore in Québec. It was the first teaching job I had in a village of 250 people. Fishermen. I lived in a house with no running water nor electricity and had to order my food for ten months of the year on the last boat that came in before freeze up...I learnt a lot from there aboutr resilience and fortitude and how I can push my limits and still have some humour.

Drago Boating tonight was great fun. We worked hard. We sang. We laughed and we all agree that we hope for good weather Thursday and that enough paddleres come out. At first tonight we did not have enough and then ended up by having 18 paddlers and so we went out. I only saw ducks and they chased us around the lake...so cute...it is almost like when we got in theri territory they needed to chase us out and then they would go back to their own area...

I will go make a cup of tea.

Lynne2 said...

oh Hoda...please tell me you were not singing Row Row Row Your Boat....LOL!

Hoda said...

No LYNNE "I've heard it said that Kootenay Lake....hosts dragon boats that's what I have been told..."
I am not getting it right, but it reminds me of army songs by drill sargeants in movies...LOL

They all also seem to like "ICE COLD BEER" so we sang about that and Hot Rum "Toddies", I know I have the spelling wrong on that one...

magpie said...

Hoda
I hope you can share some of your writings with us, your story sounds like one I would like to read;
I would say resilience is your strong suit! And I think your spelling of Hot Toddies is correct!

G'Night, Lynne....
xo

Lynn, Moonie is definitely in waning crescent and probably won't
"rise" til about 3 am

magpie said...

wonder how high our post numbers will go this week

Regarding "The Help"

The author, and the director, were friends from the age of 5, in Jackson, Mississippi,

and the actress who plays Minny, was once a room-mate of the director, Tate Taylor

Hoda said...

Thanks MARGY.

Hoda said...

MARGY I think we could easily hit the 2000 mark since this is the 2000 thread and Steve is in Colorado...

Lolly:
there was a "Lolly" posting on the early days of the blog, March and April 2006.
She was from Central New York!

Also saw where Jo made the first references to "Big Boy" and "Spunky", but "Mis InBetween" had not been named yet...(on the posts that I have read back to)

Three names that had been suggested for those 3 eaglets were Liberty, Justice, and Freedom

I haven't read past the end of April 2006 though, but did see the first reference to a Poop Shoot also ☺
I was watching the nest then but hadn't started reading the blog until sometime in May

magpie said...

You're probably right about that, Hoda..

Loretta, great sightings...there was an egret in a marsh in the next county over a few years ago, and I had a devil of a time getting close enough to enough view it well with binoculars!
I think it was a Snowy
And there used to be a White Egret that hung out in Rocky Marsh, near Wanda and Gene's Roost, haven't seen that one lately though

magpie said...

time for me to stop adding posts to this loooooong thread, AND, it is time for sleep

hedgie said...

Loretta, please be careful....if one of those egrets jumped and scared you while you're on a bridge or dock, you might fall in
the water!!!

LOL, Lynne, I think the girls are trying to help get you out of your low mood!! I know you love them---and they love you!

magpie said...

OH I just remembered:
Phyrfly was also posting in the early days!
Which reminds me it's been a long time since she has visited the blog, and also BEagle - hope they are both doing well

hedgie said...

Lynne, LOL-----better peach than dandelion wine! Have you ever smelled or tasted it??? GROSS!!!!

hedgie said...

Hoda, sounds like a really primitive area you first taught in. Like an early 1800's settler town!! You were a pioneer, for sure!

I also hope you didn't sing "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"----are you familiar with that one?

Lolly said...

Well, I was watching the news and fell asleep and missed the weather. Drat!

Margy, I think I remember someone mentioning that there was another Lolly. That is hard to believe...we are rare! Just like dishers.☺

Time for me to call it a night.

Night all! Sweet dreams!

Whoa! All 3 of the TV shows were great; however, I dislike giving up 3 straight hours to TV. But it was another

Lynne, I certainly pray that this car
issue will be resolved to you and Steve's benefit. I truthfully hear in the background some underhanded things from the salesman. If you paid cash - that title should be in your hands!

Good evening to everyoe still awake.

Sorry I have been away and thanks to Lynn for the "silver alert" to check one me.

I'm on new medicine that leaves me sleepy and dizzy but it's helping with the leg nerve pain. Just wish this feeling would be because of some beer or a margarita.

Supposed to have a spinal injection on Friday. I know GG had one not too long ago and it helped her so I'm looking for the same relief.

Lynne2, can't believe you're still dealing with that "dealer." Prayers that it can be resolved quickly.

Shirley, try a 12 pound bowling ball. I still have mine but no longer use it or the shoes. With shoulder problems my bowling days are over. You will enjoy the company and competition.

JO, it was a great night for tv.
Can't wait for Sunday when "The Good Wife" will be back. That has got to be my fav!

Andy, there was something I wanted to say to you but I've forgotten. My brain is taking so long to catch up. Give Emma a treat for me.

Now.... who have I forgotten....
Please forgive me if I haven't responded or "talked" to you. I love you all and think of you every day. God bless.

Lady Gaga was in Lancaster today.
She accompanied her boyfriend to his family's funeral today. He's originally from here. Aren 't we lucky?

Loretta, please know that prayers are sent for you and your family at this time of tragedy. Hope your daughter and SIL can recover.

Lolly, congrats on raising a son to be very proud of.
That doesn't sound right... grammatically. Sorry, my fingers are going fast than my brain.

Lori, glad your vacation was a good one.

Paula, your avian reports are wonderful. I'm still jealous. ;O)
Glad Nick enjoys his time there too.

Before I write a book, I'll close for now and wish you all a good night.

LYNN again from movies I know of the song 99 bottle of beers...we just chanted ICE COD BEER as we dug our paddles in the water...it kept the rhythm.
The three villages where I worked in the early seventies were very isolated then. We got in by plane to Seven Islands then helicopters or small fixed planes to the villages. No nursing stations in most villages then and the freeze up certainly taught me a lot about how I deal with isolation. It was a good 6 years spent in Canada's North.I learnt from and enjoyed my experiences...

PA Nana said...

Kay, when you check in I hope you're feeling much better.

Howdy Hoda. Living in isolation would not suit me at all.

Going to watch Jay Leno until I'm sleepy.

God bless.

Hoda said...

The fixed wing planes had skies on them and landed on frozen ice, during break up they had pantoons and landed on open water. The helicopters took sick people out to hospitals thousands of miles away. They also brought in the post when it was not "dirty weather"...usually once every three weeks or so...

Hoda said...

and by the way people had to be really sick to get a helicopter ride out. The headed teacher, which I was in the first village, had to radio in to the nursing station again a thousand of miles away...symptoms and possible home remedies. I do not understand why there were not more emergencies but there were not...

I need to try a hot bath with Epsom Salts and see what that does.It is 10:17 PM my time and it feels like six pm ...maybe I will be up to greet LORI DANAMO JUDYE KAY THELMA AND SHARON for the SPCC!!! I in a sense hope not!!! LOL!!!

Ms Bookworm said...

Good Evening, Everyone!

Wow, it's taken a while to get caught up here!

Lynn, to answer your question, yes, Emma would catch & kill the spider IF I would let her. I try to smoosh them before she catches them, since those nasty Hobo spiders sometimes get in the house. Their bite is horrible, and takes months to heal in humans. Hate to think what their bite might do to Emma! (Believe it or not, she DID kill one Hobo spider so far!)

Oh, Sissy! The news about your local shelter is just horrible! Absolutely a crying shame! Breaks my heart. Hope some kind of arrangements can be made for the future. Prayers!!!

Saying prayers for Justin's broken foot, and for Becky, too.

So good to see that Kay is posting!
Just sleep when you're tired, for as long as you need to! Prayers for you continue. (((HUGS)))!!!

Prayers for Linda's eyes.

Prayers for Diann. Hope the pain eases.

Lynne2, prayers galore for the car situation! I would definitely contact the BBB about the dealer, too. Really glad that "Bad" didn't meet up with the barbed wire, or with a horse! Golly, maybe you should try the peach-flavored moonshine! Sounds like you could use a stiff drink. ROFLMBO at your description of its smell!

Ms Bookworm said...

Happy to report that I received more work from the doctor last Saturday, and again today. He sent me a paycheck, too.

Well, getting tired here at this roost, so think I will call it a night. Have said prayers for everyone, and for every creature.
Making sure the porch light is on, and enabling both security systems.
Sleep well, everyone, with sweet dreams. God bless, and goodnight.
Love all of you! :o]

Hoda said...

Still here not a sign of sleep anywhere...where is JUDIE'S sand person when you need him???Maybe you should tell him about Canada JUDIE...LOL...

Lori O. said...

HODA, loved your stories of your early life in the cold of Quebec. Reminds me of the show Northern Exposure, which was one of my favorites. I always thought it would be fun (?) to try out a life like that!

Lori O. said...

HODA, have you tried melatonin or
5-HTP, which helps your body regulate sleep patterns? My father swears by it and bought a bunch for all his friends who had problems falling asleep. ♥

Hoda said...

Good Morning gLORI.
I am so glad you are here. I love your avatar.
I have not tried the medication you mentioned...do I need a prescription? Usually when I have a very busy day, I get a lot of energy and this is why I can not sleep...yesterday I had four things happening and they were all energizing activities...I feel as if I had four cups of coffee!!!LOL

What are your plans for today? Have you caught up with your self after your holiday? Did you take the little puppy to rescue?Have you posted pictures anywhere yet? I hope I did not miss your posts with answers to these questions...

Hoda said...

I googled Northern Exposure and it was between 1990 and 1995. I did not have TV then either. I did see an episode at a friend's house as they were trying to tell me about it. They had a doctor in town and there were roads. Where I was there were neither of these two...I saw whales, and seals and fox and deer and bear and muskrat and moose and beaver and every day I never really knew what I was going to see next.

Hoda said...

I googled 5-HTP and Melatonin and they are health food store suppliments...so I presume no western medical doctor prescription is required...I think I simply have to make sure I do not do too much in one day...

Hoda said...

It is now midnight here so I will go give my bed a go...Goodnight all and God Bless...To the morning group Good Morning and have a terrific day...talk to you all later today.

Well Lori, I got a nice long message from Aric which always makes me happy. Physics is giving him a problem even though he had honors physics in HS and got an A. Apparently, it's very different as far as the amount of info. given to solve a problem and the instructor wants them to work for hours on problems. He sounds good though so it's not getting him down.
