second one back and nestorating with authority!

something over head has eagle attention!

Lolly said...

Nest needs more fluff. Go get more fluff!

wvgal_dana said...

Really pulling at that meat think it is Belle.

The other one works think that is Liberty.

Lolly said...

Maybe the WAX you got will make you forget your soreness, Lynn. LOL

wvgal_dana said...

She is storing up that food for energy for laying an egg and sitting on it I bet.

Lolly said...

Can not get NC today. I am beginning to think it is their problem and not ours.

wvgal_dana said...

By the way GLO fabulous video this morning THANK YOU and thank you Mema Jo for posting it.

Lynne2 sorry you are sore just glad you didn't break anything.

hedgie said...

Got a pic in the album of our day laborers!!!

Lynne2 said...

mama at BWE eating duck.

hedgie said...

BTW----you all got great HP shots yesterday!!

Lolly said...

Good morning, Lynn.

wvgal_dana said...

Liberty flew out

Lynne2 said...

EGG VISIBLE!

Lynne2 said...

that was quick...duck moved, egg not visible now

wvgal_dana said...

Wouldn't you just love for them to be able to pull the camera back so we could see what Belle see's flying around out there.???

Lynne2 said...

Our bird's squirrel was stiff as a board. I thought at first it was a stick of some sort as she was carrying it!

Lolly said...

Ahhh, Lib back with more sticks or fluff.

wvgal_dana said...

Liberty just flew back in

Mema Jo said...

Good Morning and Helllllllloooooooo
Lib and Belle! We know that eating in the nest leads to egg laying!
Blackwater nest looks like breakfast was served. It is early for all this, but it is what it is.
Interesting enough was MITS comment to Lisa that Lady didn't even spend the night in the nest - which is the usual
happening before the egg comes.

Lolly said...

I figured Belle was watching Lib fly around. Yes, wish we had a second cam to watch the whole tree.

Mema Jo said...

2nd egg won't be far behind for BWE
Maybe Sat or Sun.......

I have been watching my deck area -
M/M cardinal, M/M Mourning Dove, juncos, Downy woodpecker, Tuffed Titmouse and the squirrels. They are so interesting to watch.

wvgal_dana said...

Did anyone get a picture of the squirrel?

Lynne2 said...

I'm not TOO sore this morning, thank goodness!

Had some bad news though...my job at Irvine is over. Tracey's supervisor told her yesterday that they had hired an intern and also got another high school volunteer. So Monday will be my last day. She's pretty pissed. She didn't get to meet or interview them like she is supposed to. The college intern is only to "supervise" the high school interns and will not be active in animal care beyond that. She has no interest in working with the animals. And Tracey is upset that she was given no notice of this before yesterday, and was not able to prepare me for the end of my job. In fact, her boss wanted this past Tuesday to be my last day, but Tracey said she couldn't work on Monday next week so they are letting me have the one more day.

Lynne2 said...

Had I know it was a squirrel Dana, I'd have gotten a picture. But the eagle was over it an eating by the time I realized there was a fluffy tail and I couldn't get a good picture at that point.

Mema Jo said...

Going back a page to catch up!

Mema Jo said...

Lynne - very disappointed and sorry to hear about Irvine ending for you..
BOOOOO HISSSSS

wvgal_dana said...

I see the squirrels tail by her right talon.

Lynne2 said...

Since it was already the middle of Jan and no one had asked Tracey to meet the potential interns/volunteers, she was sure I'd have another week or two.

Oh well. It is what it is.

Lynne2 said...

Thanks Jo. It IS disappointing, but I knew it was only temporary. Even so, I kept hoping for that little miracle!

hedgie said...

Looks like fish in front of nest, under Belle.

Lynne2 said...

there is something so disturbing about the breakfast "display" at BWE!! I can't tell now if it used to be a duck, or a pigeon.

wvgal_dana said...

No Hedgie she lifted her right talon and in it was the squirrels tail raising up.

Lynne2 said...

oh lovely view of the tail now....

wvgal_dana said...

See the tail moving as she eats. It is showing up brown too.

Lolly said...

Oh, Lynne, that is such a bummer. They obviously do not know how to hire good employees.

Glad you have good eyes. Never saw the squirrel. Can now see the tail.

wvgal_dana said...

Lynne2 if you got a pic of her flying in with it...put it in album. Even if it just shows her flying in.

Lynne2 said...

well Lolly, the interns are paid by the university. So Irvine saves money which is all important in a non profit.

Lynne2 said...

Sorry Dana, I didn't. I tuned in after she was already there, and I thought she had a stick.

wvgal_dana said...

Sorry about situation at Irvine. If that supervisor did that. To me she shouldn't have that job. She knew you was working there and you know what your doing. You have been a BIG HELP THERE..sad !!

Lolly said...

Belle is one hungry bird. She has been chowing for some time now.

stronghunter said...

Both there!

wvgal_dana said...

Squirrel tail for a hat anyone? Like Daniel Boone.

Lynne2 said...

I think it must take longer to eat frozen solid squirrel than fresh kill squirrel!!

Lolly said...

Lib is checking to see if there are any leftovers.

wvgal_dana said...

Lib trys his beak at the rest of the squirrel now.

Lynne2 said...

awww, poor Lib....leftover frozen squirrel!

Lolly said...

Hey, maybe the tail would make a nice cozy egg cup! Fur lined!

Lolly said...

Tried NC again, but can not get it up. Wanted to see if the second egg had hatched.

wvgal_dana said...

There goes the fur flying

Lynne2 said...

I know Dana, but like I said, I knew it was temporary. Just not likin' how fast it ended. Really thought, as did Tracey, that there would be a week if not 2 weeks heads up before it ended. Not looking forward to breaking the news to Steve.

God has closed a door (well partly, as I will still volunteer there) but I sure wish he'd hurry and open a window soon. I'm tired of rejection, and worrying all the time.

Lolly said...

Lily and Hope were awake earlier and moving around quite a bit. Missed a great shot of Hope. She was sitting towards the cam with a good look at her tummy which she was scratching. So cute! Wanted to reach in and rub that belly!

Lolly said...

I have absolutely no sound coming from the nest. Grrrrrr!

Lolly said...

One poofed. No sound!

NCSuzan said...

HI! Everyone. I just added a photo to the album. It is one of the tail. If someone got a better shot please remove mine. I am not the photographer!

Lynne2, so sorry about Irvine. Know that could have been your job. I am going to look for a Steeler avatar too! For Christmas I gave my daughter a Steeler Slanket, one of those blankets that have sleeves. This one has a Steeler helmet and done in black and grays. she will probably wear her Troy Polaomalu jersey. Or one of her championship t-shirts. Will not even go there with my son-in-law. Let's just say the menu was written on Wednesday!

hedgie said...

I finally saw that it was a squirrel! Yep, can't imagine anything better to line a nest with than that tail!

Lynne, SO sorry about the job. Bummer. :(
Glad you aren't TOO sore from your stumble.

Just found another puppy tooth----again while playing ball!

Lynne2 said...

YEY SUZ!!! More Steeler support WOO HOO!!

Well, I updated quicktime for the NC cam. It's no better a picture than before I updated. I really do think the problem is on their end. But at least I can see them! Dad was just in a few minutes ago. I'm waiting for mom to move so I can see if there is a second baby!

glo said...

Lynne 2 I too am very sorry to read aobut Irvine. I guess part of me thinks that volunteering there is a very good thing right now. That High Schooler who isn't even interested in animals may or may not stick around for any length of time. Put in osme good volunteer hours BUT don't make it all OK everywhere. Leave a little notica le undone so that maybe they will think Hmmm perhaps we do need to go ahead and keep her on or offer to pay for a few hours for her to take care of "fill in the blank". Will be praying for a job for you ASAP where you can use the skills you obviously have in a job you love and recognizes what you bring to them enough to keep you. its tough times everywhere and we all know that BUT we can hope and we can pray.

Hey Dex had a good night last night and seems to be pretty comfortable today. Maybe this cold spell has done some of the local fleas in at least temporarily. That would be so good for us. Bad weather early in the week back home and then bitter cold to follow. If we could get naother week to 10 days here if he is oK that would be a blessing.

Lolly said...

Let us know, Lynne, as I can not get any picture at all today. Weird!

Lolly said...

Well, I have a BIG project today so I best get with it! Later!

Have a great day!

Lynne2 said...

AARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!! My NC picture went totally cattywampus for a few minutes and now that's it back the mom has moved which means I MISSED SEEING THE BABY(S).

Thanks Glo. And I am glad you and Dex had a good night. It would be nice if you could stay a bit longer...but how sad the price is COLD where it should be WARM!

paula eagleholic said...

Morning, all.

Good news from our nest this morning...got to see Belle take bake the squirrel from Lib and have at it.

There were 2 parents at NC for the longest time, now only one.

Lynne2 said...

WOO HOO...check my blog...Pic of NC mom feeding baby. NO second hatch yet!

Lolly said...

LOL I think it is funny! Earlier on the blog it was Belle eating and then Lib gets the leftovers. Paula gets on and says Belle is getting the leftovers. Personally I think the eagle closest to the cam looks the biggest. I certainly can never tell who is who!

Lynne2 said...

Have fun at lunch Jo!

Oh, my NCTC cam has to be restarted every so often now. Just tuned back in to see the lovely squirrel's body draped over the side of the nest and the tail wafting in the breeze. It's almost as pretty as the BWE breakfast. YUK.

Lynne2 said...

I really can't tell either Lolly.

Great pic, Lynne!!!! Wish I could get it. Chrissy got a good one that she emailed me, so I sent it to the group on momster mail.

hedgie said...

Great shot of the squirrel tail, Suzan!!!

Judie said...

Good very early afternoon.

Been trying to get papers organized to begin weekend work on next week's classes.

Missed our eagles, of course.

Lynn2, so sorry I wimped out last night before I saw that you have taken a tumble and on steps no less. I do hope you are feeling better this morning -- maybe only a bit of stiffness.

Lynn, hope the project goes smoothly. Please keep us posted.

Loweeda, glad the dentist was able to repair the offending tooth and that you had a leftover pill. How's it feeling today?

Shirley, know you're in class and hope the exams go well for the students and for your agony of grading. Also, very much hope Susan can get some medical attention to deal with that fever. Don't like that at all.

Lynne2, I am sorry that the Irvine job is over and hope that the door to a real job will open very soon. Will keep a job prayer going for you.

Glo, Happy New Year. So glad Dex is doing better. Can you delay returning home?

Off to have some lunchfest (lunch and breakfast) then on to school work. BBL

Oh, forgot. Spoke with orthopedic nurse night and she explained the typical progression of pain for my type of injury. Going to get me a prescription for Vicodin rather than percocet. Was concerned my second request for pain killers would suggest I'm a drug addict. She laughed. Said this is normal and the pain will likely last another two months + and need for pain pills is expected.

OK bye

stronghunter said...

Kind of upset. Susan is in the hospital in Ecuador with H1N1.

stronghunter said...

Am in class. Students got very quiet for awhile when they realized something had happened. They sent a representative from amongst them to ask me what had happened. Sweet--for a change.

Kathryn is checking into what to do. She thought maybe the embassy can help. Susan is not able to talk with them because of the language barrier.

stronghunter said...

Susan had gotten a shot. This worries me.

stronghunter said...

Her teacher is being checked also. I guess she is sick too.

Lynne2 said...

OH No Shirley! This is terrible news. So Susan can't talk to who...the people at the embassy?

Lynne2 said...

Judie, since Vicodin isn't as strong as Percocet, I take it the pain isn't quite as bad now....that's good!

wvgal_dana said...

BIG prayers going up for Suzan Shirley!!!!!!!!

hedgie said...

Oh, Shirley, that is NOT good news. Didn't she get a flu shot? H1N1 is included in the regular one now. Being in hospital so far away is worrisome, I know, but she is probably getting very good care. The embassy should be able to provide a translator for her, if that is t he concern. Maybe talk to the school about a medical airlift home (at their expense)???

Judie, nurse is exactly on target in what she told you. There is nothing worse than bone pain, and it can't be ignored.

hedgie said...

Shirley, very kind of your students to be concerned aboout you. They are growing up.

Eagle alert our nest

glo said...

Today Dex actually interacted with my son when he came home for lunch and I went in to sit and eat with him. He let us know he knows we are eating and he doesn't want forgotten. That is so much more normal for his style. I am hoping maybe we have rounded a corner and even if its the cold now that makes him more comfortable here for a few more days I would be happy. Its gonna be a day by day decision come Wed. Watch Dex and watch travel weather. Retired so no real schedule. We can stay or go whenever we need to. It is supposed to get warmer here next week. I am looking forward to some more of that but if it means fleas rally then we won't stay long to enjoy it. MTBR.

Eagle in the nest again. Spending lots of time there now. :-) Its a good thing. I honestly can't tell them apart either. I agree the closest to the cam looks the biggest. When they are both there at about same distance I guess its an educated guess. I know feather patterns, but feathers move and fall out etc etc. Its beaks that are visibly different but I would need a beak side by side to even state that with any definite its... which ever it is whenever it is it is beautiful indeed. And they are busy working and eating today.I would agree Belle is doing most of the eating and Lib is trying to work but we all know nothing he places is necessarily in its "right spot' but its in the nest for the final touches :-)

hedgie said...

Mai is taking her post-lunch nap. Gearing up for puppy lesson #2 this evening!

NCSuzan said...

I can't get the NC nest either. Seems the eggs were laid in early December and so they are ready to hatch soon. And I believe you all are correct in that it is their problem not ours. They are broadcasting to a house across the lake and then across the internet. It is on their Project History tab.

stronghunter said...

Kathryn called the program director at Mason who said that they had received a call from the teacher, so they know the teacher is sick. They got all of our contact information.

Susan said the hospital seems clean and okay. The director said that it is a good, middle-class hospital town.

She also said that someone in one of their previous programs in South America got put in the hospital down there and was said to have H1N2 and got quarantined for 7 days, but when she returned home, she had not had H1N1. It is likely that Susan will also get quarantined as well. This means she will have to stay there for extra time, but will be able to stay in her homestay while she is quarantined. It sounds like the teacher might be with her.

She cannot talk with the people at the hospital because she does not speak Spanish that well.

Susan said she did get a shot.

I am now dealing with my Bl. 4 class. Several are missing. One did not turn in his research paper, because, as he explained it, he did not feel like doing it. The class began with the fire alarm going off because a teacher burned popcorn.

paula eagleholic said...

Shirley, so sorry to hear about Susan. I know how worried you must be. Good to hear the hospital is decent.

We still have an eagle in the nest, looks like Liberty.

I am getting the NC nest, although the feed has been somewhat choppy today.

paula eagleholic said...

Egg in view at BWE

I see the feathered leftover.

Egg alone at BWE now

stronghunter said...

I meant that it is a good, middle-class college town. Sorry. I am a bit distracted for several reasons.

paula eagleholic said...

Egg still alone at BWE

paula eagleholic said...

Parent back at BWE

Hopefully that means the hospital is decent, Shirley.

So Susan will be missing her class down there as well?

paula eagleholic said...

BWE has a chunky stick right in the middle of the nest.

paula eagleholic said...

Both at BWE

paula eagleholic said...

Dad left, Mom will incubate at BWE

stronghunter said...

I guess so. I hope she will get credit for this course.

paula eagleholic said...

Lib still at his fav spot, now facing towards the nest.

Hi, Everyone,

Getting here late today because I hit the road running at 5:30 this morning, and haven't really stopped running since then!

Went and took care of the bulldogs, came home and started attacking the big pile of laundry. Also, (YAY!) got Emma's nails trimmed and filed! It was a bit of a struggle, but we both survived! Gave her some treats for being such a GOOD puppy! Lynn, loved your story about Mai barking! Hope the puppy class is fun tonight--bet she'll do well. Congratulations on helping with the Senate bill! That's fantastic!
Lynne,
Sorry you nearly fell last night! Glad you're still in one piece, and relatively pain-free! VERY sorry to hear about your Irvine job! Shame on them! Hope a paying job materializes VERY, VERY soon! Can't believe Brother Cat's antics! Sure hoping and praying for good results on his lab tests!
Shirley,
So very sorry to hear that Susan is in the hospital so far from home! Thank God it sounds like a relatively decent hospital, at least. Hope all will work out OK for her, and someone will be able to translate for her! Prayers for her situation!
Dana,
Hope Little Man is doing better today.
Prayers continue for him (and you!). How are your eyes doing now?
Glo,
Glad that Dex is doing better! Hope you will be able to continue your visit. Prayers continue for both of you!
Well, need to hit the road again and go shopping at Wally World. Will be back here to check in later. Hope everyone has a good afternoon! :o]

stronghunter said...

Did you ever take a nap in the middle of an exam? I have one girl doing that now. I will check on her.

paula eagleholic said...

Nope, Shirley...maybe during a class lecture, tho :)

paula eagleholic said...

Are you actually talking to Susan, or emailing/Facebook?

paula eagleholic said...

Lib is back...in his fav spot, facing out

paula eagleholic said...

LOL, he turned around while I was posting, now facing in.

paula eagleholic said...

Can see Chicklet and part of the second egg at NC...Mom trying to tuck chicklet back under :)

paula eagleholic said...

Lib off to the right

Judie said...

Shirley, so very sorry about Susan being sick and having to be hospitalized. It might be a good idea, as a just-in-case, to contact the U.S. Embassy to make sure about the quality of care, medicine available, etc. Try not to worry too much. Susan is young and healthy.

The student sleeping during the exam, let her sleep. Take the exam when the time is up. Maybe lesson learned?

Glo, hope you can stay a little longer for your visit.

Can't wait to hear about Mai's second lesson!

Saw Lib's visit. Nice treat for me.

Hi Paula and Andy.

Lynne2 said...

Really? A girl taking a NAP during and EXAM?????? Good grief.

Hi Judie I am glad to read that they have switched pain meds although they continue prescribing them for you. You are doing wonderful overall. Dex is having a better day today for sure. Time will tell how long we stay. Will play it day by day come next wed.

hedgie said...

Suzan.....you DO know that they have a hatch, right????

hedgie said...

Glo, hope that things work out that you can stay for the long-haul!

Shirley, I agree.....don't wake her. Just take the exam when the time is up. Lesson learned!

Judie, will let you know later this evening how training goes! We do have a nail trim (FREE) scheduled before class.

Hope you all are right about it being THEM with the NC cam and not me/us!!

Saying hi to everyone after a long absence! Been a VERY busy year.

Hope everyone is well.

Wanda told me that some of you have adopted new puppies and love to talk about them! Me too! I have my border collie, Lacee who is 11. She was adopted while we lived in Texas when she was a year old. We had another border collie also adopted from Texas who passed away four years ago. I told myself I wasn't going to adopt anymore dogs. Yeah right!!
Enter Danny....We adopted him on Sept. 4th (my hubby's bday). He was one of 100 border collies rescued from a puppy mill in Sept. of '09. He spent the first years of his life iun a cage used to breed. Then a year in rescue before finding his forever home with me. To say he has a lot of special needs is an understatement. It's going to take a lot of love, time and patience to get him over his anxiety. He's basically scared of life. But he's a very loving, gentle boy!! Here's a link to the video of the rescue.
http://www.wsmv.com/video/21119378/index.html
I would like to share some photos but dont' know how. And I would love to hear about the others who have adopted new dogs recently. :-)
