Dana, good idea about Anne Marie....Wanda, talk to me first! There's SO much you can do on your own in genealogy research! Save paying out the big bucks until you get stuck!

wvgal_dana said...

Everyone please CHECK YOUR EMAILS....retake #2095 of Margy's-Magpie's video has been mailed to you. Since I can't get the darn thing on here.

I am still wondering MARGY WHAT ARE YOU DOING? You are suppose to be sleeping.

hedgie said...

Think the rain is getting closer....sky is getting heavier, air movement has stopped, temp down to 77.....hoping and praying!

Mema Jo said...

Nothing going on weather wise here in the valley.... The drive from Hgstwn earlier had lots of dark bottomed clouds but none seemed to be headed over the mountains.

Judie said...

Think I am beginning to feel a little better. Just tired.

No, no one remaining to fill in the missing pieces. Mom always said "there's plenty of time." Think I might as well consider disposing of all the pictures, etc.

Okay, Lolly. No matter. You will find many good places to enjoy lobsters rolls. Also good that the "boys" are off to a good start with school.

Supposed to get some rain later. Was lovely today with sunshine. Rain predicted for tomorrow.

Enjoyed the Magpie video. Brave bird patient dog.

Did you hear about the miners in Chile? 33 found alive after 17 days.....made it to a shelter. It could be 4 months before they can get them out!!! They say they can get food, water, etc. to them.
Amazing!

hedgie said...

NO RAIN YET...........argh!

hedgie said...

Well, maybe it's getting close....satellite in and out all of a sudden.

hedgie said...

We are getting 23 drops NOW! Hope it doesn't stop!!

Judie said...

Just thought I would mention -- no response from dr. I love socialized medicine.

Did hear from our District Supervisor. She arranged for me to meet with the head of cardio/vascular at Fairfax Hosp. Will call about that tomorrow. I just hope he will send me along to someone who actually cares and might be around for more than 30 days.

Judie said...

How amazing that the miners were found alive. Sure wish there were some way to get them out sooner.

Check it out:

hedgie said...

Judie, maybe the FX. chief will take you himself! You know that they are ranked really high in C/V treatment, right? Good luck!
Hope you are feeling more human this evening.

hedgie said...

Rain fizzled..so far. Jo, map looked like you got some...Yes?

wvgal_dana said...

Judie So glad you will be seeing someone at Fairfax Hospital. I would NOT want to see that doctor that put you on that medicine and hasn't called back. Go with someone else .... PRAYERS PRAYERS PRAYERS YOU FIND A DOCTOR THERE THAT CARES FOR YOU.

That is a long time to be held up. Really something they were able to make a shelter down in there. Food and water can get to them. Even so those men will be HAPPY to see daylight and family!!

Well,I got lost with the split. Kept thinking...wow, everyone is busy. Duhhhhhhhhhh!

Talked with Laurel. Everyone had a great day. Laurel is very happy with the move back to the boys home school.

As for her she had a good day except the AC was out! She said her room was over 80. That is good as she had 106 on the way home. We got to 104, presently 100.6. Her class sizes range from 24 to 28. And get this...she was calling the roll and Essence, yes Essence answered "Yo!. Essence had her chair tilted and her back on the wall and her feet on another desk. Oh me! Laurel corrected all of that fast! This is a 6th grade girl with a major attitude!

magpie said...

Whew...that sounds like a challenge Lolly....
Essence..interesting name...

best wishes for all the family, boys in school, Laurel too, and
Joey with his "home work."

Hello Eagle Pals xoxo

wvgal_dana said...

Sounds like Essence got an attitude adjustment her 1st day in school. How Laurel doesn't have trouble from her. Maybe Essence will turn out to really like Laurel because Laurel cares and maybe that is just what this girl needs.

No I don't use red food coloring either. Nor do I buy that junk at the store.

Thinking of Red's hummers. Remember he had a lot of them. WOW more than I will probably ever get but that's ok. I luv my hummers.

You know the Old El Paso Taco Kits they have out soft shell and hard shell. Well they have a NEW ONE. I tried it today. You baked it in the over for 15 minutes. I liked it. I always put my Petite Cut Diced Tomatoes from a Del Monte can in with my drain meat and mix. YUMMY sure did taste good. Ed would have loved it!!!

hedgie said...

Poor Margy....sorry you have to go in early.

I don't color my hummer juice, either---and have never bought it!

Just refilled again today....every 2 day thing. Guess they are loading up those calories for their upcoming journey.

My youngest grandgirl said her first day back to school was "Awesome!" Eldest said it was good, but she has two classes that need to be changed. She's supposed to be taking a VoAg class and they put her in an architecture class. Duh!

Hi everyone,

Well, never did hear from my primary today. Oh well.

Feeling a little better but still very tired. Maybe I need some Paula cookies? Or some El Paso? Or some breakfast for dinner? Maybe I just need some more sleep.

Will be turning in early. So happy that the youngsters all seemed to have a good first day back. I think Laurel may have to arrange some attitude adjustment for Essence. I wish her luck.

Jo, enjoy tomorrow with Sophia.

Watching Miss University and Lie To Me channel surfing lol

Thanks that certainly sounds like a much better class for her to take.

No puppies go back to that MAN!!!

Which the BK Co Commissioners would set up some kind of law for cats. Everything for dogs. While cats roam and sorry (I do love cats) they spray their odor under or on your porch. SOme people are allergic. If like they say "cats can take care of themselves". Then why is it people are always feeding them and then their neighbors have to put up with their destruction. My cardinal vine and other plants that I had on my porch. They are dieing from cats spray and using the bathroom.grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

stronghunter said...

Hi,

Did a quick read over the messages. I have been home just a little while, so I am a bit rushed this evening.

I had to stop at the grocery store on the way home this evening to pick up a few things.

Judie, I really do hope you get a good doctor that can really help you. I hear your frustration.

My medical frustration: Because I have Social Security, I am not allowed to have the insurance plan I want, even though it is offered to others at my school. I'm told the government won't let me have it because of the tax benefits. I can't have those benefits because I have the benefit of Social Security. (I have been paying for
Social Security for all these many years. It's not something that has been given to me.)

The plan I am permitted to have is an HMO and at least one of my doctors will not participate. I think I am going to opt out of the the insurance plan at work and go ahead with the supplementary plan with Social Security.

It was a very busy day. I think I have met almost all of my students and their parents. That is wonderful, but I am still feeling pushed to get plans together. Tomorrow we have a faculty meeting. I hope we will be allowed some time to sit and think and to make copies of things for our students.

Sorry about all of the complaining. It is always good to meet so many students and parents. That is a positive from today!!

stronghunter said...

Essence sounds like a challenge.

I had one kid come up to me today and say something I can't write here. He left our school last fall and transferred elsewhere. (Was in my class for a short while and was disruptive.) He says now he's back and he told me in a profanity laced statement what he's planning to do now that he has returned.

I let him know that he was being inappropriate, but his friends laughed and said school hasn't started yet. I don't think he is in any of my classes, but I think I just might speak to his administrator about what he said. What an attitude!!

stronghunter said...

Congratulations, TJ!!

What a family.

Lolly said...

Oh, yes, Shirley, speak to the powers that be about that kid. Yikes!

Laurel told me that all the teachers said Essence tried something in all her classes. Lovely child! However, once corrected she did not try anything more. Hopefully that will be the case.

stronghunter said...

Essence . . . sometimes I wonder if the kid's name gives them a complex that makes them cause problems. I had a student named Starkisha once, and she was a holy terror. I remember hearing her mumble about being in another world where her name wasn't Starkisha. Makes you wonder.

paula eagleholic said...

People do name their kids the weirdest things!

TJ said...

Wow, I am out of it tonight! Fortot to say what we named him. In order of birth, we have Kyle-4, Kaelan-2, the twins Kale and Kaden-9 1/2 months, and the newest, Keagan! They induced about 3 1/2 weeks early this time around because my wife developed high blood pressure. Everything went great though, about six hours from start to finish! We had it narrowed down to three names, Kash, Kai, and Keagan, but decided to wait until we saw him to decide on a name. That was a good choice, because this child came out SCREAMING MAD!!! Our other four barely made a peep, but this one, HOLY COW!! Keagen means- a thinker; fiery personality. He came out screaming, and I do mean screaming. Then, while I would hold him, he would calm down for a few minutes, like he was contemplating his next move, then just let loose and scream bloody murder!! Too funny!! We decided rather quickly it had to be Keagan!

TJ said...

Oh, and we are DEFINITELY done having children now!

stronghunter said...

TJ, it sounds like you and your wife are going to have your hands full. I have 4 children, including a set of twins, but they're grown now. Mine weren't quite so close together, though.

Interesting names. I can hear you standing on the front porch calling them now.

Funny story about your littlest.

paula eagleholic said...

Congrats, TJ!!

Glad everything ended up being fine, I'm sure you were worried about your wife. Hope Keagan still isn't screaming, LOL

stronghunter said...

I have to make my way upstairs. Five thirty will come very soon. See you sometime tomorrow.

Hi, Everyone!

Finally getting here to the blog today! Have been running all day, it seems. Still babysitting the bulldogs--went there first thing this morning. Spent quite a bit of time with them. Golly, it's HOT today! Put the two bulldogs in the laundry room with the air on when I had to leave. Just TOO hot to put them outside, even down in the dog run. It's down under the back deck, cut into the side of the hill, and completely shaded. However, went down there myself and checked out the temp--must've been about 90. Decided the A/C was called for. Those two "gals" have smooshed-in faces, of course, and hot weather isn't the best for them. They behaved themselves, and didn't get into any trouble. (They sometimes chew everything they can get their teeth around, or dump over the hamper, etc.) Think I'll spend some more time with them tomorrow. They get lonesome.

Have to go back to school tomorrow night--Med. Transcription Practice 4 class. Wednesday I have what amounts to an English III class--but get a load of what it's called: "Analysis of the Rhetoric of Oral Communication" (!) Definitely politically correct. LOL
:oD Will have a College Algebra class from Oct. 6th to Nov. 9th.
That makes a total of 13 units.

Not sure how this Wednesday is going to play out. Thank God I won't have to watch the dogs that day. I DO have jury duty, and have to be in the courthouse by 7:45 am!
Need to plan on being there for a "full day", and have an English III class at 6 pm! That ought to be interesting. Just another one of life's interesting challenges, I guess. All I can say is, DON'T get between me and school! Good thing there are plenty of fast food joints within about 2 blocks of the college.

Just read back a few comments to try to get caught up.

CONGRATULATIONS, TJ, AND MRS. TJ!
WHAT A FANTASTIC FAMILY!

Judie, why am I not surprised that you haven't heard back from your doctor yet?! I swear, you practically have to be your OWN doctor nowadays! Or, rely on our Lynn! Hope you DO hear from someone SOON, and that they can sort it all out for you! What a mess! Can't have you feeling so puny, though. Many prayers being said in the hopes that whatever doctor you speak with will have DIVINE WISDOM!! ((HUGS))!! --Oh, and by the way, DON'T get me started about socialized medicine! It's my belief that if you want something TOTALLY messed up, just let the government run it! (JMHO, of course!)

paula eagleholic said...

Have a good night!

Glad you left the doggies in, Andy,, I'm sure they appreciated it!

Lolly, I'm saying some prayers for Laurel--and Essence! (Gosh, how'd her parents come up with THAT name?!) Well, I guess it beats being called Moon Unit Zappa! I'm certain that Laurel is on the right track with this young-un, though.

Well, my eyes are getting pretty tired, so guess I'd better call it quits a bit early. Leaving the night light and the porch light on for others. Prayers have been said for everyone. The eye-scanner security and Dana's thumbprint-scanner security are both enabled. God bless, and goodnight! Sleep tight, and I'll talk to you tomorrow. Love all of you! :o]

What a crazy day this has been!
I did get a lot of outside work done, but spent a good deal of time scraping adhesive off the floor, left from the old flooring. I have blisters from pushing the scraper and red and sore knees from crawling around. Wasn't counting on having to do that. We only got half of the floor ripped up and scraped. Will try to get the rest done before time to leave for Soup Kitchen. Gas man is coming Thursday to convert the new stove from Natural gas hook up to Bottled gas. So, the floor HAS to be finished by then. I think it is actually taking longer to rip up the old floor than it will to lay the new floor!
We have the new fridge sitting in the dining room, plugged in and using it. Awkward, but better than none! Using the microwave to cook. Hard to cook linguini in there, so I used rice instead. Iced tea was a challenge, but not as difficult as I thought it would be.
Getting too sleepy to think now, so I'm outta here.

GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYERS FOR ALL

Good morning!

Coolish and breezy here. Supposed to rain all day.

stronghunter said...

Must get ready to go to work. Wonder what challenges today will bring? And I won't even be meeting the students until tomorrow!

stronghunter said...

Of course, as I said earlier, I think I have already met most of the students. They came in droves yesterday.

stronghunter said...

Bye for now!

stronghunter said...

Wanda, be careful about ripping up that old flooring. There may very well be asbestos in it.

stronghunter said...

Andy, prayers for Laurel and Essence . . . that sounds like a good idea.

Okay, see you later.

Judie said...

Congratulations, TJ. Wishing good health for mom and Keagan.

Oooh! The Wanda and Gene Kitchen Saga. A whole new adventure for us. Hope all is finished soon and I know you will be so happy with the result.

Have a good day at work, Shirley.

Andy, have a good night at school. Bless you for taking time to visit with the dogs.

I may try to go to school later this morning. I'll stop by later on.

stronghunter said...

Hi Judie,

Have a good day. Don't overdo.

Yay! I found my car keys. They were in the trunk of my car. Found them when I was looking for the power cord and the USB cord for my printer. Didn't find the cords. They must be at home. (I hope they are at home.) Meanwhile, another day of running down the hall every time I print something.

Lolly said...

Good morning!

Wanda!!! Wanda!!! Wanda!!! I am thinking of you down on your knees scraping. NO NO NO! Your poor knees do NOT need that, Girl, what are you thinking? I know, I know, help Gene, but that is NOT what you should be doing!!!!

First day of school here in our little town. ☺ ☺ ☺ See all my smiles? Ahhhh...retirement! Do not have to deal with any "Essences". LOL

Bless Laurel! She is keeping her positive attiutde.

WOW Wanda your right about scraping the old floor and putting down the new will be easier.
Where will you get your bottled gas Wanda?

Shirley I hope when the students come you don't have one like Essence. If you do you will certainly handle her. I thought Laurel did a nice job with her.

Judie you have got to find a way to STOP walking those halls lady.

Prayers for teachers and Diann's BIL Charlie and Andy with all her studies. INCLUDING THAT JUDIE FINDS THE CORDS SHE NEEDS.Any others that need them..I guess that will include Bluefield

Waiting to hear how your ggd did in kinder yesterday, Jo. It is such an important milestone. I have to admit I do miss getting the room ready and greeting the new kiddos. Laurel was laughing at me as I am so critical of Jacob's teacher, more so than she is. But, I want perfection! Not that I was perfect, but man, I tried! That is why I was soooo tired!

Out to water plants before it is much hotter. Then I am off to do some shopping. Going to buy a new floor lamp for Jack. He needs brighter light. Also, looking for a Batman Costume and a Buzz Lightyear toy for Jacob's birthday. Where is Costume Lady when I need her? ☺ Jacob wants to be Batman for Halloween but he also wants a Batman costume to wear at his Batman birthday party. lol

Have a great day!

We are back from having breakfast with Sharon, Thelma and Justin. I forgot to ask Lynn where IHOP was and we had to stop and ask where it was. We had a great time...slid two tables together and partied on! Food was outstanding (mine was, anyway). I think Gene and Justin were the only ones who ate ALL their breakfast:)
Gene took some pictures (posted on JUST FOR FUN). Waitress took a group photo for us and Gene took her pictute:)
Drove back to Martinsburg, with the Bedford girls following us to show them the way to I-81, then we parted ways. Sure do like those girls (Justin too!)

Finney's male chick (and probably Dad) are still hanging in the far north...not sure about the female chick, although I saw her a couple of days ago.

I see that our pair has left some Sycamore leaves in the nest and moved some of the lumber toward the outer rim of the nest. Anybody seen them lately?

Hi everyone,

Well, made it to the big school house and got some work done. Tired now but seem to be doing better.

Let's see. Wanda has gone into the kitchen flooring business and Myrtle may have a new friend. Jo is decorating her frig with new pictures and Steve is AWOL. Shirley is running the hallways trying to make copies of herself to deal with all the students. The TRAIN committee left WV and Jim is counting leaves at the Sycamore palace. Justin has excellent taste in favorite zoo animals. I'm tired just trying to keep up. Sounds like everyone is doing just fine.

Good early evening everyone!
Home and settled in.had to stop at store for tea, bread and TP---got me some hot wings from the deli, so read through blog and FB while I ate....it had been a long time since breakfast!
We had a great little gathering! Girls were tired...but happy!
So good to see them, even if for such a short time. We were SO surprised when Wanda and Gene appeared--WHooHoo!!
Wanda---little secret....Gene gave Justin one of his pork chops!!

And some excellent news. The puppy mill guy FAILED TO APPEAR!!!
So the survivors (majority) of the 94 dogs are now up for adoption! Sure hope they can all be placed with good, loving homes.

Hi, Gang,

Boy, it's been quite an afternoon! Have been on the phone with Earthlink C/S trying to get my computer to work faster on the internet. I hate when they take over your computer and start doing stuff, and you can't tell what they're doing with it! The guy almost deleted my entire internet history--and that's how I get to several websites where I pay bills!
Yikes! Still stuck trying to get to the Calif. DMV to pay our registration fee for one of our cars! Have tried to sign on their website for an hour and a half now, to no avail! Maybe later.

Spent about half the day with the bulldogs. They really appreciate the attention! They were VERY good girls, and didn't chew anything but doggy toys! They are in the laundry room again--forecasted high for Yorba Linda was 101!!! Even put a big fan there for them, so they have a nice breeze. The A/C is set at 78. They have 2 big water dishes, too. Hubby will have to go let them out for a while to do their business before dark. SIL & BIL should be home after midnight.

Lynn, looks like you had a FANTASTIC day today! I'm thrilled that the puppy mill guy didn't show up, and all those sweet pups will be getting wonderful new homes! YAY!!!

Judie, glad to hear that you feel better--good you were able to get some things accomplished today! You are beginning to sound much more like yourself! Have you heard from any of your doctors yet?

Well, better run. Need to shower and get some quick dinner, and run to school. Will be back much later tonight. Have a good evening! :o]

Judie, so glad you are feeling better. Miss your comments when you are down and out, too!

Had a successful shopping trip. Found a Batman costume, right size, right price! Found Buzz Lightyear, and also found a Batman figure to put on a birthday cake. I am prepared for the birthday.

Have had a beautiful day, just a sprinkling on our house but it has been almost 20 degrees cooler. Our thermometer did not go over 91 today. Fantastic!

Judie, glad you are starting to feel a little better. Can't imagine how bad you were feeling.

Lynn - good news for the pups!

Looks like a nice time at breakfast!

Essence had a good day, answered the roll "Helloooo!", but kept her feet on the floor.

Jacob story.....

He went to bed last night with a winter sleeper on and a winter cap with ear flaps. "Look at me, Mommy! I am Silly Man! This is what I am going to be Halloween."

Have been trying to post a picture on facebook with my iphone and for some reason it is not posting. However, yesterday, the candles on the patio table melted. It was that hot!!

hedgie said...

Judie, thank goodness you are feeling more human!

Andy, you are a good dogsitter. Your school schedule sounds grueling.

Almost forgot: TJ- Congrats on that new baby to you and the Mrs.! Sounds like he may be your livewire!!! So glad everyone is well!!

Back and catching up on comments. I see mine posted twice. Anyone know how to get rid of one of them. No trash can.

I see I also got who was running the halls to make copies wrong. I said Judie and it is Shirley. I say get a student to make the copies for you until you find your cords.

Judie sounds like you are doing better. Thank God...but still will feel better when you see that new doctor in Fairfax.

Hedgie-Lynn Now I wonder just why the guy neve showed....tee hee Him saying I'm innocent, I didn't do anything wrong....He didn't show because he knows he would have been found guilty. Hope they can put a "bench warranty" out and give him a BIG FIND or BETTER YET SOME JAIL TIME!!!
Hope all the dogs get happy homes. (:

Andy moope your evening at school goes well.

wvgal_dana said...

Andy I hope your evening at school goes well. That is what that should have said.

Lolly so happy for you and I know you are happy to have found that Batman costume. Way to go!!

I thought Essence would have needed Laurel the 1st day. She probably will become her best student. Probably no one at home gives a crap about Essence.

Dana, this wasn't the guys' trial. He requested the hearing to try to get his dogs back. Who knows when the actual trial will happen. He also has NOT posted the $25G surety bond for the care of the animals while under county control. So likely that a warrant will be sworn out for his arrest if he hasn't paid that my Sept. 2 or some date around that time.

We're betting that he couldn't get a lawyer!!

paula eagleholic said...

Lolly, Cohen liked Batman and Brensin likes Buzz and Woody! Glad you had a cooler day today! I couldn't post any pics on FB last night...

Lynn, I surely wouldn't want to represent that guy. Must be hard as a lawyer when you know the jerk is guilty...

Cleaning house here tonight...

Sure is nice to have the windows open...wondering what the electric bill will be :O

I have been following this guy, Reed Miller, on Flickr this year...he has taken a whole series of really nice shots of a bald eagle nest this year. They hatched and fledged 2 eaglets.

Bald Eagle Nesting series

So tonight, I came across this story about him. He entered one of the pics in a National Geographic contest...and so far he's winning in his category...I thought it would be neat to vote for him. Here's the link to the news article I found tonight, which has the link to the National Geographic site. There are six categories of pictures to vote in.

Good evening,

California forest fire near L.A. in the area of the community of Grapevine.

I am weary this evening. Got to hunt for the cords for my printer. They have to be around here somewhere. I would like to stop running down the halls to pick up my copies.

Well, the students show up tomorrow morning, bright and early.

I did tell an administrator what the young man said to me yesterday. She reacted the same way as everyone else. . . What? It's one of those things that just stuns your brain and you don't think you heard what you knew you did hear. She said she would be calling his home. Immediately.

paula eagleholic said...

Glad to hear it Shirley, you shouldn't have to put up with that foul mouth crap.

hedgie said...

Good, Shirley. Hope she follows through. As far as I'm concerned, that should be grounds for immediate expulsion!

Will check out those sights, Paula---sounds great for him!

stronghunter said...

Somehow, I don't think he'll get expelled, Lynn.

stronghunter said...

I talked to his English teacher and she said that she had already noticed him and seated him close to her so she could keep an eye on him.

hedgie said...

Oh, yeah...great picture! Hope Glo sees it--she'll love it, too!
