CC Osprey cam is still down from sometime last week. HH Osprey cam is empty right now.
Still no word on when Kent will be back up, has been down since the end of June. Two eagles in NBG.
One of my favorites, too, Helen. When I saw all those big lemons, I knew a couple would have to be put into a pie. That is one of the nicest parts of CA, just walk out the door and pick some fruit.

Yes, the meringue looks good, Jo. I seem to have good luck with it. I almost forgot to add the sugar to the filling, luckily I had to lick the whisk! YUCK! I was worried I ruined it, but it worked out okay.

Hi, eaglelovers. I've been checking in every now and then to see if we have an egg - and WOW! today we have one. I'll be checking in more often now that another season has begun. It's snowing up here on this mountain right now!
I have a pretty bare driveway and can see some of the ground again after the nice days we have had this past week.

Hey - I saw that I still had my Redneck Christmas Lawn Decoration as my photo - so I changed it to the Alaskan volcano getting ready to erupt.

I think they do a pretty good job at stopping especially in bad weather....they don't break the law in Bluefield, do they????:)
The law is never broken in Bluefield!! It is a 2-way stop. the main road is College Avenue that goes straight into Bluefield, Virginia (at Bluefield College).
I must have seen someone stop to turn and assumed it was a four-way, UPS truck was coming down the hill.

Elevated seismic activity continues and we have been detecting small repeating earthquakes over the past several hours.
The volcano has not erupted and is still in a very restless state.

There was a volcanic eruption in Japan near Tokyo today and there was a mild earthquake neat Seattle last week. Seems like something is brewing in the Pacific Rim. I'll take snow anyday over volcanos or earthquakes!
It is so interesting to watch the intelligence of our eagles!
They are smart, there is moisture in the air, rain going past us right now, may hit the nest eventually.
There is that very awkward position we saw last evening - the tail's up one!

Hi everyone, I just spoke with Steve about your concerns. We turned the audio off on the live feed, to check the latency in the page loading. We made engineering changes to the cam setup. The setup is now running on a dedicated file server running Adobe Flash Media Server, it use to be a PC with Realproducer. This change was made for viewing from a web browser, and no need for RealPlayer. It's less bandwidth usage with Flash video. We also installed a 75 watt monocrystaline solar panel, and set the panel according to solar placement calculators. The new panel is connected to two 92AmpH AGM batteries wired in a parallel configuration. This configuration keeps the voltage the same, but increases the battery pack capacity. I know that this is probably more information than you need, but I just wanted to let you know we have put a great deal of effort into this project. Thanks for you patience, and happy viewing.

Hi all, just took a break before I go to the hardware store. I am washing curtains and drapes and replacing them. busy, busy. I do check the kids several times a day for a new egg. this will be known in history as the year with no winter. I still have blooming roses. Its really strange and inbetween 65& 70 every day.

Jo both eagles were there when I first checked in but only for a split second. Your not loosing it.
My mama squirrel is pg. the twins have been kicked out of the nest and are on their own. Mom is even chasing them away from the feeder.

Yeah, but I think they are as frustrated as us when the cam doesn't work smoothly. This is all extra work for them, if it wasn't for their love of the eagles we wouldn't even have the cam. Mine is still freezing on and off.
I think it was really above and beyond the call of duty for John to inform us what is going on with the cam...BUT, do you get the feeling that he is PLAYING with our minds??;);) LOL
Wanda - let's see if Margy prefers to place them in the album.
Our concern is that what we are seeing on the internet may not be the same as what John is seeing on his cams.
That is what we want to get ironed out.
I believe the Caltrans eagles are about ready for eggs too.

Lynn, the reason I didn't post Margy's photos on the Momsters Album, is because, the way my system is set up, only shows the jpeg numbers and not the photos and I don't know what I am posting when I go to browse. Does that make sense? I guess I need to try another system.

I have the same problem sometimes too. What I do is look at the pictures in my windows picture and fax viewer...that way I know which picture goes with with #...it shows you in the upper left corner of the viewer the filename which corresponds to the number...

That could be Mema Jo. I would suggest John or Steve try watching the nest from home like we do. Maybe then they could see the problem and know why we are getting fed up.

I'm really confused about the cam now....why would John see something different? I can understand them probably not having the freeze-issues since they are so close and probably get priority routing ot something! But the sound issues--not the in and out--but the weird noises--I would think they would hear, too. Am I right, Red?

They did switch when both were there.
John may see the feed directly into the computer...not what is being broadcast over the internet.
He might not be looking at it online...and if so...he should look at it off campus.
It is raining here but there is snow mixed with it. 33°-radar shows it's probably doing the same at the nest.
Paula answered your question Hedgie. I agree with her. He may have a direct feed and not on the internet.

I guess they turned the sound off to see if it helps with freezing issues. I don't think they are experiencing what we are.
I don't know if sound is on or not...turned off live feed...it kept hanging up my IE when I tried to refresh

Sound has been off ever since John posted his message. My live feed is working, I can sse the snow falling every once in a while, but it is still freezing on and off, on and off... Lib isn't really moving much, just protecting the egg from the moisture and cold, I guess.
Hmmm wonder if she popped an egg out..about their time...and she was still for awhile there....

The only solution I have come up with is to have the live feed up twice, side by side, two screens, often when one is frozen, the other isn't, or I would have missed the switch earlier.

The color on NBG is just incredible. I am stubborn, and refuse to give up, so I'll try to keep an eye on our nest. I would think Belle woukld be back soon if we are gonna get another egg today. Just did an egg roll and he switched positions, facing two o'clock.

Oh yeah, Buphals is a master at getting them all going. I don't let Hairy out during the night because he has a habit of getting inside the neighbor's fence (hateful neighbor from Baltimore) and I have to go get him out. Pain in the butt at 3 in the morning and 10 degrees outside.
Ha, ha, I was telling him that for about half an hour, til he gave me that look, take me out or I will go right here, and he never bluffs.
