Morning all. Thanks for new thread Steve, and Merry Christmas to you, your family and all of the NCTC family!! Raining here, but see small icicles on trees.
Well, here is my bad mommy story for this holiday season. I had the sweet rolls packaged in foil, and had "packed" bags with the rolls for each girl to take home with her tomorrow...I set the bags in a corner here in the office--duh! on the floor. WHile on the phone late last evening I heard the doxie stirring around; when I got off the phone I couldn't find her. I was searching the house...went to the basement...not there...daughter called and said did you check the office? Nope..I went in there just in time to catch her pulling her head out of a bag.....slick as a whistle, she had eaten a whole package of cinnamon rolls...without even tearing the foil!! I had four packs on end in the bag, and she ate a middle one without even pulling the foil out of the bag. She seems to be fine...praying she doesn't bloat! Not sure who's more bad, me or her!
Speaking of balmy - it is 51 degrees in Bluefield.
Today, I am abdominal binder free - 6 weeks since my surgery, in my jeans that I haven't been able to wear this fall/winter at all but fit now. It is a good day! ☺
Lynn, somebody that Thelma works with gave her a nice little brown bag with her name embroidered in pink on it. She had goodies in it here last weekend. Buddy ate right through her name and got the food out of the bag. Nothing holds him back from food!
Sharon, so glad you are free of the binder...is the last drain out, too? What a feeling of relief, huh? And whoopee...jeans!!! How are you feeling otherwise? Oh, no, Buddy's a chow hound, too!!! No ill after-effects for him? Hope none of it was chocolate! Cinnamon seems okay....FAT, but abdomen is soft, not hard, so keeping my fingers crossed. Was really sure she would "urp" but she hasn't!
Uh oh- bad dog, bad dog... I had to put up a baby gate to keep our dog out of the room where the tree is because there are goodies under it..and he cannot be trusted... Great news Sharon:) Merry Christmas eve everybody:) Here Comes Santa Claus♪♫♫♪♫♫
No, Lynn, still have the one drain and it looks like it is going to be here for quite some time. It is still draining a lot but one is so much better than 4!! ☺
This Afternoon Rain. Highs in the upper 40s. South winds around 15 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent. » ZIP Code Detail Tonight Rain in the evening...then a slight chance of rain after midnight. Lows in the mid 30s. Southwest winds 15 to 20 mph... becoming west after midnight. Chance of rain near 100 percent. Christmas Day Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 40s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. AMEN:)
Thanks, Jim, for the heads up on the new blog post! Sorry, Sharon, that you are still stuck with the drain and dressings! What does "some time" translate to? WEEKS?? Yucko! Guess we all have stories about bad dog, bad dog!!
The funniest bad dog moment I can think of at the moment was when I made some hollandaise sauce at Easter a couple of years ago...it was the reheatable kind, so I made it ahead of time....but, I left it on the counter, while I went down to the basement for a few minutes.
When I came back up, Boo had licked the whole bowl of hollandaise sauce clean! I was so pissed, I was hoping he would 'urp' the whole thing! But he didn't. Bad dog!!
Checked out some cams and saw the deer at Snowman, clouded leopard & fishing cat at the zoo, moosewatch was down BUT got to see the short clips of the Puppies' good-byes!
Just got on for a minute to check out my email. Thank you to all your wonderful people for your Christmas wishes. Have been having not much time what with cleaning the house, wrapping, and last Sunday a very good friend of ours fell and has been in hospital/nursing home for rehab. We try to visit her ever day.
Wishing all of you a very Merry Healthy and safe Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Looking forward to joinin geach of you in enjoying NCTC Eagle Cam Season 2009. It has already gotten off to a beautiful start.
SHARON Glad to hear that you are feeling so much better and in your own clothes at that!
BAD DOGS, BAD DOGS! My German Shepherd used to do the same thing. They are like toddlers; can't leave anything around where they can reach it. My dog also used to find and eat my mother's tissues where she would lay them down. No matter what they do, you still love them the same. Just saw on tv news where they are getting a lot of animals due to people not being able to afford the upkeep or losing their homes. How sad for the pets.
See JO said the last of the puppies are gone. :( Bet they make some families happy tho.
A few years ago my sister was making her jubby's favorite...Hungarian cabbage rolls...we were on the phone and she reached for the unopen bacon package, and it was gone....she searched everywhere, thinking that she inadvertantly put it someplace while she was distracted....I told her to check dog's breath...no smell there! SHe never found the bacon...but a few days later while walking the dog, she found the stiff inner liner of the package with dog poopie on it in the woods. She never did find the actual packaging!!! Bad dog!
Candy, my dog is a tissue dog, too. Can't put anything like that in bathroom trashcan! My mom always keeps a tissue in her bathrobe pocket...when she was here, Cinnamon was on her lap and smelled the tissue..and tried everything to get into her pocket..would have torn it if we hadn't put a stop to her activity!!

When I had my houseguest this past fall, she left a tuna fish sub on the end table. I was out mowing, when I came in the only thing left was the olives and a little lettuce. I was not a happy camper. Leave it and they will eat it!

That is quite a pile of leftovers at BWE - I too thought it looked like an Eagle wing...was kinda worried for awhile. Itr's very "colorful" shall we say...
So Good to read everyone's doins' and Christmas Greetings...
I'm going back to bed...need to catch up on some sleep before I can get anything else done today.
Good Eagle Afternoon, Everyone, and enjoy all your special plans...
Was out doing last minute errands, like to get fresh flowers, red tulips with Christmas greens, and some sparkly twirly sticks to go into the vase, got my edible Christmas fruit tree, grocery stores are crowded but moving nicely...our Giant is open tomorrow....never used to be.
just talked to Ceil.....train dropped them off in Spokane Washington, would not travel to Portland, Oregon...it was an 8 hour bus drive.....they are staying at a hotel last night and tonight,,,nephew hopes to get into Portland tomorrow, if he can...all church services have been cancelled...she sounds in good spirits...ho-ho-ho:)
That thingy that someone said looked like a bird wing looks like a body of a bird with the feet underneath. If you look, you can see the eye and the mouth open. What do you think?
PAULA, How is your Mom doing? Much better I hope. Wanda said that Gee Gee is doing good now. From the looks of it, Ms Ruth, the lady we kind of look after (86years old) will be in the nursing home for Christmas, and we'll go down sometime to visit her. She has no relatives left down here and a niece up in Maryland that isn't doing too good either.
Vicki, so glad you dropped in...and in time to see our visitors!! Are you ready for Christmas?? Ice has melted off the trees...still raining here, but temp is 38°....in the 40's for tomorrow.
Only one gift left to wrap...very awkward one!...and pies to bake...and then I'm spending the evening listening to my Christmas music!! Might even tickle the ivories for awhile. No Mr. Bill and shrimp tonight...."emergency" in his family....his ex- and daughters are all drama queens, and grandson is autistic....always some kind of problem...this time it appears that his eldest daughters' husband has chosen this week to leave her...what a gem!
It is sad, Mits....especially for the kids...we saw it coming, but not right now. He froze his retirement at Metro 18 mos. ago and took a new job w/ the San Fran transit system--they headhunted him--and she hated CA...so after a year, she came back here (their house hadn't sold), and things have been really rocky.
It is a colorful wreath right now!! I just filled the bird feeders and reopened the path in the backyard for the dogs and now my fingers are cold. Tomorrow it will be 33!!
On't know if it's better that they teens or if they were little...the oldest at 19 has her own suspicions, which may or may not be founded! Other two are 16 and 14. Paula, I don't play well enough to perform for anyone but family! LOL...wish I did! Took lessons as a kid for 3 or 4 yrs., and then as an adult for a year or so....my sister was the real talent--could have been a concert pianist if she had pursued. My dad was very gifted musically: could play ANY instrument, but couldn't read a note of music!
Was just putting candles in all the candle holders, and remembered when I was a little kid we had those turkey-shaped candles at Thanksgiving. Before going to Grandma's house, sis and I set them on the steps...when we came home, Gretchen, our doxie at that time, had eaten the candles!!
Guess I just missed the visit to the nest. Have just a second to get on. Michael, Ashley and Zach are here, we will be eating soon and going to church.
Love the Avatar, Megan, and Hedgie's and all the new and old ones...♥
Things are going to start picking up speed for everyone most likely, plans and all that...I have presents to wrap and a trip to Morgan County to see the Grandson coming up soon....
♥ My hearfelt and sincere loving wishes to all for a Merry and Blessed Christmas and thanks to all for your beautiful friendship. ♥
just got back from the beautiful children's mass at our church...first time I have been to one of those in years...it was wonderful.....hubby and I are going out to dinner in a little while...so just a few things to get done when we come back, then up tomorrow to cook for the brunch and Christmas dinner
MERRY XMAS EVE TO ONE AND ALL! That includes all the NCTC Staff and families who keep us going all year & OUR FAVORITE BIRDS!!☺ ☺
Pulled an almost all nighter last night--everything wrapped, tree up.It is small fiber optic. Cats are fooling w/it, so it will get locked up when we go to stepsons for dinner Xmas!Had a 5 hr. Panda nap & got 2 fruit nut breads in oven.Gotta put in rock cornish hen for tonight's dinner. Love the new avatars Megan & Lynn. Lynn, so sorry to hear of friend's problems. Scrooges must be around. Gotta check oven---;>)
Lots have been on an made comments. Just got caught up on them. Sharon glad your feeling better. Candy nice your neighbor has you to visit with her. It will mean a lot to her. LOTS OF NEAT PICS ON HERE..
Hi Vicky nice you checked in here !
Oh my Hedgie sorry no Mr. Bill on Christmas Eve. Drama Drama...
Doggie stories of getting into trouble...they like the Christmas treats too lol
♥ Merry Christmas to All, and to All, A Good Night! - Remember to listen for the animals talking at midnight - about the same time as Santa passes through. ☺ ♥
Margy, can't believe that you are calling it a day already!!! You, too, Jim! guess you will leave early to go to your brothers', huh? Safe trip! Margy, check you mail!!!
Took a quick nap and missed everyone and the eagle visit. :( Didn't want to fall asleep at midnight mass tonight. :)
Cute card RED Thanks for the wishes evryone. We will be going to Josh's MIL's for dinner at 4pm tomorrow afternoon, again. Saw him for a minute on Monday and that has been it. I am hoping that between her Mom and her Dad and step Mom, they will find time to come to our house for dinner before they go back. Whatever. We are going with the flow this year and hoping for better holiday seasons next year.
MITS We had a childrens' mass tonight too, I think they were going to have a little program put on by the kids as well as the mass. I miss those times. Glad you could go and enjoy it.
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there. The children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads. And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap, Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer. With a little old driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be St Nick. More rapid than eagles his coursers they came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name! "Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall! Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!" As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky. So up to the house-top the coursers they flew, With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too. And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of each little hoof. As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound. He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot, And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot. A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back, And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack. His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry! His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow. The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath. He had a broad face and a little round belly, That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly! He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself! A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk. And laying his finger aside of his nose, And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose! He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight, "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"
Megan, did you remember it by heart??? I bet you did! Merry Christmas to you, too, Dave and all our other Momsters and Dadsters!!! Go to sleep early so Santa can come!! Peace on Earth, Goodwill Toward Men...Amen.
Just got a chance to look at Deb's wonderful eagle pics!!Beautiful. Safe travels for those going out & about. Blessed Xmas Eve to all! Will probably watch Ralphie!! And then hope to see the Pope do Midnight Mass--that's really what it's all about.
that is the best Christmas present, Paula......Ceil has finally made it to her sons' house, they took a town car from Portland and my nephew picked them up in a suv about a mile from his house....what a trip:).....:)
My Christmas Eve has been wonderful. Paula, I am so happy for your mom's progress. Our evening was filled with family, fun and very good food. So thankful for the weather staying like it did. Hubby & I watched another Christmas movie from 9-11. Tomorrow more family will be coming by... Christmas is a wonderful time of the year
May each and everyone of you have a most wonderful day with friends and family. Travelers have safe trips to wherever your destination is and back. I was hoping to see an early Christmas visit to our nest by Liberty and Belle.
They both seem to be looking around looking for a fish or something that Santa might have dropped into their nest on his fly by. Guess they'll have to find their own.
Well, why not...tis the season for giving after all... Hello Candy and Helen:) Gotta get moving, cinnamonn buns ready to go in oven, coffee ready, time to wake the others...have a merry Christmas!!
Belle just flew the coop and now Liberty went after her. Probably waited long enough for Santa to drop them a fish for breakfast. Thinking of Megan's cinnamon buns is making me hungry. I had better get the coffee on and warm up the coffee cake I made yesterday. Maybe the smell will wake up my husband so he can start the bacon. All have a wonderful day!!

What do you think? I am trying to figure out a good way to tell them apart with this new angle.
Wow what a trip for Ceil...
Merry Christmas, Vicky!!
One our eagles is darker in color than the other....I think Lib is darker...
I can't quite remember...if that is correct or not...
Missed the Ceil post, definitely an adventure!
And gone in our nest. I loved the shake!
Up into the sycamore on the left...
My wasn't that a lovely Eagle?
Sorry that I had to leave abruptly. James had a call coming from Ireland on skype; his friend from Poland that stayed here.
DANA we have a balmy 61 degrees, but no sun here on the Outer Banks. Supposed to have rain.
Eagle at BWE
Lib has crooked feet too, I think
Yes, Lib is darker...white on tail is longer...
They sure have a lot of food in the BWE nest.
NORMA Yes WV plays UNC sometime on the 27th at some nowl game, but I don't know what it is either.
VICKY a Very merry christmas to you and yours.
That thingy that someone said looked like a bird wing looks like a body of a bird with the feet underneath. If you look, you can see the eye and the mouth open. What do you think?
Well my brownies just came out of the oven, and now I have to go make the coffee cake for James and I to eat for Xmas breakfast. Back in awhile.

I got so excited to see divers, lost touch with grammar in my last post.
Too bad Norma wasn't here, he put his face right in front of the camera!
here come more divers.
They went over the top of the camera, maybe they don't know it is there. Lot's of funny looking fish today.
It's always something with kids, isn't it Lynn!
Would love to hear you play...
Forgot to mention 2 pretty eagles at BWO
yes, poor little ones:(
Eagle BWE
hmmm, eating leftovers
Finishing up the bird at BWE
BWE nest looks like a decorated Xmas wreath
probably going to save the feathers for the nest...good idea:)
deck the halls with boughs of birdies......fa la la la la la la:)
Margy...when does black-powder season end? Have heard nearby shots all day...deer are hunkered down in back of lot, TG!
Was just putting candles in all the candle holders, and remembered when I was a little kid we had those turkey-shaped candles at Thanksgiving. Before going to Grandma's house, sis and I set them on the steps...when we came home, Gretchen, our doxie at that time, had eaten the candles!!
Goodness, Deb, you'll need to get out your shorts!!! What ARE your plans for the day?
Eagle at BWO now
Getting ready to hit it here...catch ya'll later tonight...

Indiana Nesting Eagles----Dave
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.
His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"
thanks for the bedtime story, Megan;)
Megan, did you remember it by heart??? I bet you did!
Merry Christmas to you, too, Dave and all our other Momsters and Dadsters!!! Go to sleep early so Santa can come!! Peace on Earth, Goodwill Toward Men...Amen.
Alas, I did cut and paste, due to time restraints, but I did learn every word of that in elem. school for a Christmas show and never forgot it.
Ah Ralphie- watching it myself- I want an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle!

HO, HO, HO, AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL YOU EAGLE MOMSTERS AND DADSTERS! Stayed in bed as long as I could after getting to sleep around 2:30 this morning, but the child is still in me for an early morning on Christmas Day! :)
May each and everyone of you have a most wonderful day with friends and family. Travelers have safe trips to wherever your destination is and back. I was hoping to see an early Christmas visit to our nest by Liberty and Belle.

Two EAGLES IN OUR NEST THIS AM!
Good Christmas morning to you MEGAN and HELEN. I almost missed the arrival, as I was looking at other things.
They were sure quiet coming in; didn't hear a sound.
Ah- Christmas lovin...
Oh my, I could hear that. They weren't doing hanky panky on Christmas morning were they? Maybe they were just giving hugs. :)
They both seem to be looking around looking for a fish or something that Santa might have dropped into their nest on his fly by. Guess they'll have to find their own.
Well, why not...tis the season for giving after all...
Hello Candy and Helen:)
Gotta get moving, cinnamonn buns ready to go in oven, coffee ready, time to wake the others...have a merry Christmas!!
What a way to start Christmas Day with our two lovely eagles!
Hey MEGAN, you could throw a few of those cinnamon buns south this way. Sounds delicious to me. :)
Hmmm. ok, Candy, homemeade cinnamon buns, one of my favorites..I'll ttry to roll one towards you when they come out of the oven..later
You have a wonderful day MEGAN!
All have a wonderful day!!
only saw a little of the visit, too busy in kitchen...TTYL..
Never got out of here and our one eagle is back and doing nestorations.
Other eagle back now.
BOTH BACK IN THE NEST
What a happy couple. They both just "kissed".
One gone. Will the other follow? Yes, it took a few minutes, but we have an MT nest.
