Outstanding news on the technical side, Steve.
Do you think possibly, now that we have the zoom feature, that the camera could be moved back a little from the nest, so that we get the total view, including Liberty standing on the edge at 12 o'clock??
And don't forget the edges will get built up even further before the real action starts in the nest.

Thought we were going to have our first freeze last night. It was 32 this morning but was not down long enough to do harm. Flowers still blooming, fern still green.

Well, it seems I have been blaming the cats for all the feathers in my yard. I just looked out the window and I have a hawk having a little lunch. I took pictures, but did it through the window, so not sure how they will turn out. It is small, so my first thought was a merlin, but I don't think the coloring is right.
How cool, Deb. Have to laugh at you blaming it on the kitty!

I just went and checked to see if the hawk was back to finish up, it was in the pine tree, then flew to crab apple. I am loading more pictures. I got some that aren't through a screen this time. It is very small--10 to 12" is my guess.

I think it could be a Fox Sparrow....
They (Fox sparrows) are pretty pouncy, but I didn't know that they would attack other birds...I have seen once, and it jumps on the ground, pretty much rules the roost if other birds, juncos and things are around trying to eat off the ground.

Deb, I think you have a Sharp Shinned Hawk or Coopers Hawk. I have Sharp shinned Hawks that likes to grab lunch from my feeders. Lunch is usually a House Fench or Chickadee. Sharp Shinned Hawk is just a little bigger than a dove. Cooper Hawk is more crow sized.

12/04/08:
The parents brought in a mammal with a long tail.
Also, we might have seen some adult beak feeding.
It's a promising sign to see the adults bonding by bringing meals to the nest.

Most likely the eagle stole it from them to begin with. There are a couple of Pileated Woodpeckers coming to my feeders at home. They really decimate the suet fast but are so nice to have around. "

Red, I think you are right. When I checked the Sharp shinned earlier, I didn't see any with yellow in the beak. Yellow eye indicates a juvenile.

Deb we will not be going through SD. We will be going through ND. I have to look up the route.
I was just checking the routes. The closest you come to me is about 6 hours north in Fargo, ND. Did you know there is only one state in the continental US that DOESN'T have Amtrak routes? Any guesses which one?
If you guessed SD you are right. There are a few others that just get a little bit of a route.
Oops, add Wyoming to no train service. The green lines on my map are for Amtrak bus service.
I did not know that. I just hope we do not get too much winter weather along the way. When we went to San Francisco by train they had a blizzard in Denver. Train got through with no problem. Airport was shut down for 2 to 3 days.

The dreaded warning... this coming weekend (Dec 6-7th) will be when the first couple of pups will be heading off to their new homes. Yes, it has been and will continue to be really hard for us to let each pup go but we're confident that they are going to extremely loving and caring homes.
We'll be arranging at keast a yearly meet-up (if not more) with the pups that will be going to homes in California. We'll have to post a link to where everyone can go to get updates, progress and pictures on the litter as they grow.

Bad news from my foot. It is more and more swollen, new bruises popping up on it. Lord have mercy, I so do not want to go back to the doctor. Pray, ya'll, pray. Pray my foot to good health!! ☺

I doubt if you have another one Wanda. Even if you do it won't hurt anything to run Counterspy. Just might not have as good results. It sure sounds like you need any relief it can give you.
Sound has been working for a few weeks now Robyn. Also they are planning more equipment changes early next week.
