I had to shut this thing down for a while...it was running worse than DIAL UP! Doing better now, but it won't last long. I've tried so many things, but nothing seems to be a permanant fix. I guess I will have to call a repairman.
Morning all. Doing better Wanda Thanks. Congrats new baby Sissy. Of course prayers for him. Just missed the visit. Lots to do today. All have a great one. BBL
Howdy all:) Wanda you just need a computer geek to help you fix that computer, probably some programs conflicting with each other or something else in you computer slowing it down. There is a place where you can run diagnostics on your computer yourself to see if you can find the problem...
Sissy, my Karla was born 29 days early and she too, weighed 6lbs 50z. She just a little bit of Jaundice, but lungs were fully developed. Grandson was 3lbs 5oz and in UVA hospital for 6 weeks (lungs). He is 6ft. tall now and just about to graduate from college and very healthy. It is amazing what they can do in those neonatal units!
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!---Thanks STEVEN for the COOL pic!!--- CONGRATS! WANDA---Our #1 EAGLE MOMMA today & every day!!--MORNIN' WANDA---CEIL---SISSY---& BEAUTIFUL MEGAN!!!----I feel your pain WANDA!---I have been FIGHTING with my computer too!!
Go to your start bar and search thru your programs, on mine under accessories and then system tools there are some options , clean up your discs, defragemnt, etc...
My ankle is doing better, not swelling as much as it was. I have an appt. with the orthopedist tomorrow. But, since it is doing some better, I may just wait. I don't know, reckon I will see how it is tomorrow. Probably should go since I have waited 2 weeks for the appointment, huh?
MORNIN' MARGY!!---HEY!!--How did the BIRTHDAY PARTY go!!!---I bet the 'BIRTHDAY BOY' had a GREAT time!!!----Maybe I should ask how 'GRANNY' did???---What does he call you??
Hi Norma ! The party went really well, we all had a lot of laughs and loving. He calls me "Grammy" - that's my favorite word. He received a Knock Knock joke book, and had us all in stitches. I think he belongs in "theater." He is quite the performer!
A week or so Deb sent me some emails with some help on cleaining up the computer. I cleared out a few programs I am not using much or at all, and did a defragmentation thing which took a few hours but seems to have helped a lot. I can forward those, or she will probably see all this and send them to you herself. Another thing, I constantly clean out cookies and the temporary files, and when I am away from the computer, I close out everything, esp live cams and the Blog, and then just open back up when I am going to be on there awhile. All that has really helped.
SISSY---I am so happy your ankle is better!!----But I think maybe it would be best if you keep your appt.---Then you will be sure!!---& the 'LITTLE PRINCE XI' will be happy too!! ho!
Margy, I would appreciate it if you would send those instructions to me...I'm ready to try anything. I really miss being able to pop in and out at will:(
Go to your start menu, find accessories, then sytem tools, then click on disc defragmenter-it cleans up and creates space on your computer..it will run for a long time so do it when you don't want to use computer for a while..
Okay, Wanda...just did. I printed them out so I could plow through it a little, did not do all the instructions, and will go back and do more of it when I have time...you might want to look through them all first and Deb gives some pretty good instructions and cautions on a few of the points.
Ditto that Megan... I did the defragmentation when I was headed to bed...took about three hours. Didn't create any new space of course, but speeded things up. And I definitely close out the Blog when I am not here...and just about everything else I have up..I do the disc cleanup about every other day...
Wanda, what they are telling you is true. Defragmentation puts files back in order which will let the computer find them faster. You DON'T have to stop using your computer when defrag is running. Things will be a little slower but you can still use your computer at the same time.
Good morning everyone. Guess I missed the first visit of the day. Oh well ice and snow all over the place here not going anywhere. Can keep eyes pealed to a few cams. Remember today at some point Norfolk Botanical Garden should be online for their new season
Also Wanda, You may need to take your PC to a repair palce and get your registery cleaned. There is lots of free registery cleaners on the internet but the registery is the heart of your computer and should be cleaned by a qualified technician.
Wow, if running disc defragmenter takes 3 hours you should be doing it more often. I used to do it about every other month when I had a PC, just to clean it up. It usually told me I didn't need to do it, but I did it anyway.
Good morning, everyone. Another cold day here, but the wind isn't that bad today! Just heard the snow plows go by, so I need to see how much damage they did.
I should clarify what I said about disc defraging. I guess that just because I didn't like to let it go that long, doesn't mean everyone should. I have no patience, so waiting 3 hours drives me batty!

Scientist says he has found oldest spider web AND IT IS NOT AT NCTC:)
By RAPHAEL G. SATTER Associated Press Writer
LONDON (AP) -- The tiny tangled threads of the world's oldest spider web have been found encased in a prehistoric piece of amber, a British scientist said Monday.
Oxford University paleobiologist Martin Brasier said the 140-million-year-old webbing provides evidence that arachnids had been ensnaring their prey in silky nets since the dinosaur age. He also said the strands were linked to each other in the roughly circular pattern familiar to gardeners the world over.
"You can match the details of the spider's web with the spider's web in my garden," Brasier said.
The web was found in a small piece of amber picked up by an amateur fossil-hunter scouring the beaches on England's south coast about two years ago, Brasier said. A microscope revealed the existence of tiny threads about 1 millimeter (1/20th of an inch) long amid bits of burnt sap and fossilized vegetable matter.
While not as dramatic as a fully preserved net of spider silk, the minuscule strands show that spiders had been spinning circle-shaped webs well into prehistory, according to Simon Braddy, a University of Bristol paleobiologist uninvolved with the find.
"It's not a striking, perfect web," Braddy said. "(But) this seems to confirm that spiders were building orb webs back in the early Cretaceous" - the geological term for the period of time between 145.5 and 65.5 million years ago when dinosaurs and small mammals shared the earth.
Spider experts believe that webs were developed even earlier, but the delicate gossamer threads rarely leave any trace. Amber, or fossilized tree resin, can occasionally conserve bits of web - an earlier find in Lebanon was dated to 130 million years ago, according
Helen, that is very interesting reading about the web in the piece of amber. Fossils have always fascinated me. One of these days, I'd like to go fossil hunting:)
My Dad use to work in the coal mines and one evening brought me home a piece of coal with the fossil of a fern in it. It was so beautiful, I took it to school and my teacher kept it to show others. Never gave it back :(

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING...
FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING FOR PORTIONS OF THE POTOMAC HIGHLANDS...NORTH CENTRAL MARYLAND...THE NORTHERN SHENANDOAH VALLEY AND EASTERN WEST VIRGINIA.
TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO FALL BELOW FREEZING BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON...AS PRECIPITATION BECOMES MORE WIDESPREAD. ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF AROUND ONE QUARTER INCH WILL BE POSSIBLE TUESDAY THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT.
A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS...AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION IF WARNINGS ARE ISSUED.
Yes, he was very cute...a combination of Mario Lopez and Michael, our infamous waiter;) Wish I had asked to take his picture...didn't want to push my luck...Gene was 10ft away from me. LOL
Hi All! I am sitting in my recliner with my feet up and sending you this message on my new laptop. Yay!!!! No longer will I have to wait for Jack to get off the computer. And, I can email while traveling. This is fun!
Yesterday it was 68, this morning it was 28. I think DEB left her freezer door open. I went shopping today and brrrrr it was cold! Possible icy roads in the morning. That is okay, I plan to bake in the morning and I will have a fire to help the coffee cakes to rise.
Okay, Wanda, it is your turn to get a laptop for traveling. :)
Well now I'm about to change my mind about that not being Spidey's web cause it sure looks like it now. He must have been wearing his long underwear some even though it's not needed today.
LOLLY, I would love to have a Lap Top, but I do have reservations about them. I'm of the impression that you can only use them in certain locations. Correct me, someone if that is not the case.??? (I mean when you are traveling)
Wanda, many of the RV parks have WIFI connections. Deb was posting pictures on hers after we visited the nest in WV. It is going to be a learning experience for us.
Hello beautiful eagle people. I will tell ya about my experience with my laptop. Almost every hotel/motel has a free wireless internet connection. I also have a wireless card through my cell phone company. It is not as fast as at home or in the hotel/motel but if I have a cell phone signal I usually have a connection for my computer. I even have a signal out on the lake sometimes.
Hello I'm Back! I've been with gs & son since 3:30 - He just got released & we took him home. He is doing great but just hope now he doesn't overdo. Couldn't get released until his pee bottle was filled! lol It is still up in the 60° range but it is drizzling rain. Guess that cold front is on it way! Hope the afternoon & evening has gone well for all - I haven't read all comments but I see that Lap Top is being discussed!
Yup, Wanda, you can pick up a wireless connection just about anywhere. My son picks up the neighbors...and gets on the internet with his laptop that way...shhhhh
Wanda, Vicky has a wireless card that operates like a cell phone. Last year when she and Glo came to the open house, I chatted with Glo on it as they drove down the highway. I was impressed as we only lost connection when they got into the Pennsylvania/West Virginia mountains.
Evening, folks. Better late than never. It's been one of those days! Errands, company, phone calls, workman, headache, allergic reaction, etc.! Didn't forget about you all. See that Miss Vicki dropped in this am...but she disappears as fast as our eagles! All this computer talk....wish I had a laptop and a wireless connection....daughter does, but only through Frontier, and don't think it's a very widespread service. Wanda, heard the siren activities....fire alarm at NCTC--apparently false, TG! And on your road, 300 "block",a "lost" propane tank on the side of the road, leaking gas.
Thanks for that reminder, Red, that Glo and Vicky traveled with the Lap Top. I guess it must be pretty much like the cell phone...not a good signal in the mountains. Last February, when we were out west, and the awning came loose again on our motor home, we couldn't get a signal on th cell to call for help. We do travel a lot in remote areas and that is what concerned me. But we don't have to be on the 'puter all the time...we could wait til we were near a city with a good signal. OH, SANTA;)
Glad you checked in Lynn...now we need to hear from Margy. I think she said she didn't have to work for a few days, but had a lot of work to do. I'M HOLLERING AT YOU MARGY!!!!!!Check in before you turn in for the night.
Gotta tell ya', Wanda, if you--or anyone else--ever has problems w/ blossoms and allergies...stay away from the DAWN detergent w/ the fragrance beads in the bottom of the bottle (on the outside). Really potent--had to set it outside! Achoo!!!
Going to say night-night, Wanda dear. Bet and the Captain are worn out after your yard work in the wind...glad you didn't blow away! Sleep tight, see you in the morning light!
I do use Dawn, Lynn, but I don't know if it has blossoms in it or not. I do sneeze every morning when I walk into the kitchen. It's probably from my dusty floor! Gotta take care of that! Getting another weather alert...
LOOK FOR A MIXED BAG OF PRECIPITATION...WITH FREEZING RAIN... SLEET...AND SNOW ALL POSSIBLE. SNOW AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS CAN BE EXPECTED...WITH SNOW AND SLEET MORE PREVALENT NEAR THE PENNSYLVANIA BORDER. LATER FORECASTS WILL PIN DOWN PRECIPITATION TYPE AND AMOUNTS. Starting Tuesday at 6am into Wednesday morning...Alert
I did only the things that I could understand with the diagnostics helpers that Deb sent me...I had never done defragmenting in the 3-1/2 years I have had this baby. So it was much needed...
Is it coincidence? I noticed a distinct slow-down difference when the new NCTC site was configured.
I'll holler at everyone in the morning....want to hear more about Baby Denver, and Sissy: don't you even think about missing that doctor's appointment !!
NatureNut, Dana, Candy-missed you Monday, and Ceil musta had a ton of things to take care of too.... We're due for a visit from Anne-Marie too, and we need to hear how our California Buds are faring with the heavy rains out that way... Jim??? what say ?
It would be great to see EVERYONE on here all in one day !!
Hi Margy, Still cam is little better. Did you have a Panda nap? I was out & about part of yesterday, got home, ate dinner & passed out in lounge chair! Got up about 2 AM. Am in big trouble time wise---2 parties today-lunch & dinner, but need to wrap more out of town stuff. So,guess I'll have to do that now & get another Panda nap!All this takes the joy out of Xmas! ☺
Howdy Nature Nut... Yes, I guess Panda Nap describes it, and I will surely need another one before too long....think OUR CAM is kaplooie, went down sometime between 1 and 4 am I guess, noticed it on one of my sleepwalking trips...
Yes, the rush-rush and time crunches make it hard to be serene right about now...You Take Care!
Weather Forecast has me all tied up in knots...it is 33-degrees in Elkins...Norma and Carol will notice it first on its way East....:( Lolly and Deb have already had it!
Just plain Snow wouldn't bother me as much as "wintry mix."
It is What It Is...and there ain't nuthin' we can do about it, but pray!
Just saw the Pine martens at one of the Scottish Wildlife sites, and the birds are the feeder, but no sound...Wah...saw reindeer yesterday sometime or another. Overall that site is a little "Squirrelly" but has some good things on it regardless..

Amber, or fossilized tree resin, can occasionally conserve bits of web - an earlier find in Lebanon was dated to 130 million years ago, according
Eagle eating at BWE
I don't recall the nest being that feathery earlier today at BWE - could be a bird, Mits.
I am back inside after blowing snow, it is soooo cold out. Long underwear, heavy coat, gloves, boots, hat and scarf and I am still cold.
Time for some hot tea or soup Deb. And a robe and slippers!
yuke, Deb...stay warm...we are going to be in the upper 30's tomorrow, right now it is 65°
Or a hot bath!!
We had a temperature change of over 60 from Saturday to Sunday, when you add in the windchill. I heard Denver had a bigger change.
beuatiful big bluejays on okie cam
our cam sounds like a rocket taking off
Bonaire underwater cam is up again.
Helen, that is very interesting reading about the web in the piece of amber. Fossils have always fascinated me. One of these days, I'd like to go fossil hunting:)
it is amazing, isn't it, Wanda.
Deb, Gene and I just came in from raking out the flower beds and mowing grass and we came inside to cool off. :) I KNOW, OUR TURN IS COMING :(
love that cam:)
My Dad use to work in the coal mines and one evening brought me home a piece of coal with the fossil of a fern in it. It was so beautiful, I took it to school and my teacher kept it to show others. Never gave it back :(

EAGLE
Eagle alert!!
LOOKS LIKE lib
BOTH!!
BOTH
SIRENS
Both eagles at Caltrans also.
Sirens going by my house now. Lots of them!
Both gone!
well that was short and sweet...
That's all folks....
I can hear them
I hope your storms are not bad that are headed your way. I don't have any warnings or watches out, just some snow forecast.
Firetruck stopped in front of our house (I had gone out to see what was going on) Asked if we smelled propane. No! See photo on JUST FOR FUN:)
cute driver, huh, Wanda:)
Yes, he was very cute...a combination of Mario Lopez and Michael, our infamous waiter;) Wish I had asked to take his picture...didn't want to push my luck...Gene was 10ft away from me. LOL
I swear, I must be crazy...that camera is a dangerous weapon in my hands.:):):)
My lips are sealed. lol
lhellis
You can say that again. lol
Having a bit of difficulty learning how to use this compputer. LOL Oh, well!
Eagle alert. Eagle alert!!!
Our nest
Gone. poof
That was so fast I didn't even have time to figure out who it was
Well now I'm about to change my mind about that not being Spidey's web cause it sure looks like it now. He must have been wearing his long underwear some even though it's not needed today.
Mrs Red just called and is on her way home. Time for the cook to get busy. Bye for now.
Well, Red, I missed your eagle alert.
LOLLY, I would love to have a Lap Top, but I do have reservations about them. I'm of the impression that you can only use them in certain locations. Correct me, someone if that is not the case.???
(I mean when you are traveling)
Wanda, Bev brought hers to WVA
Well, Helen, those Bluefield girls are so smart, they could figure out how to get a 'puter to work on the moon!!
yes, they could:)
I don't think we have heard fro Lynn today. I hope she isn't feeling worse.
MARGY, we are missing you. You must be REALLY busy today.
Wanda, many of the RV parks have WIFI connections. Deb was posting pictures on hers after we visited the nest in WV. It is going to be a learning experience for us.
Maybe Deb will be on later and enlighten us about the accessability of the use of a Lap Top.
I love mine. I use it both at home and anywhere else I go.
Hello I'm Back! I've been with gs & son since 3:30 - He just got released
& we took him home. He is doing great but just hope now he doesn't overdo. Couldn't get released until his pee bottle was filled! lol
It is still up in the 60° range but it is drizzling rain.
Hmmm Red, wonder what made them come into the nest that late...must have been above it!
Spidey must have played hidey inside the cam casing....that sure is his web!!
Wanda, Vicky has a wireless card that operates like a cell phone. Last year when she and Glo came to the open house, I chatted with Glo on it as they drove down the highway. I was impressed as we only lost connection when they got into the Pennsylvania/West Virginia mountains.
Going to call it a day. Hope the bad weather holds off a while longer - not sure we're going to be that lucky.
Good Night Everyone
Peace to you & yours
Prayers for everyone's needs being

how was your Mom, Paula?
Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow
OK today Mits...a little tired and not too hungry, but otherwise in good spirits!
its raining here...58°
will, keep her in my prayers, Paula
Sharon, glad you feel up to working. Sissy, PLEASE keep your apptmt. tomorrow!
Jo, so glad GS is doing so well. Make him behave!
Deb, hope you are snuggled in warm and dry! Lolly, isn't it unusual for you all to get that low a temp?
Thanks for that reminder, Red, that Glo and Vicky traveled with the Lap Top. I guess it must be pretty much like the cell phone...not a good signal in the mountains. Last February, when we were out west, and the awning came loose again on our motor home, we couldn't get a signal on th cell to call for help. We do travel a lot in remote areas and that is what concerned me. But we don't have to be on the 'puter all the time...we could wait til we were near a city with a good signal. OH, SANTA;)
Did everyone go to bed? Margy? Jim? Anybody out there?
Night, all!!
Glad you checked in Lynn...now we need to hear from Margy. I think she said she didn't have to work for a few days, but had a lot of work to do. I'M HOLLERING AT YOU MARGY!!!!!!Check in before you turn in for the night.
Spidey must have taken his web back in! Don't see anything bad on the cam!!
There you are Wanda!
Goodnight, Paula!
Glad they found the propane tank...the driver of the firetruck looked distraught because he couldn't find it:)
Gotta tell ya', Wanda, if you--or anyone else--ever has problems w/ blossoms and allergies...stay away from the DAWN detergent w/ the fragrance beads in the bottom of the bottle (on the outside). Really potent--had to set it outside! Achoo!!!
Jo, glad you grandson got his bottle filled...that is sooo hard
to do right after surgery :(
He'll be good as new in no time.
Wonder if they ever found out what gas company lost the tank??
SNOW AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS CAN BE
EXPECTED...WITH SNOW AND SLEET MORE PREVALENT NEAR THE
PENNSYLVANIA BORDER. LATER FORECASTS WILL PIN DOWN PRECIPITATION
TYPE AND AMOUNTS.
Starting Tuesday at 6am into Wednesday morning...Alert
Yard work was fun...we will probably feel it in the morning:):)
GOOD NIGHT EVRYONE
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYERS
Sigh....Missed everyone once again...
I am going back to read about what everyone is all about since I bailed out early Monday morning...
☺
... Maybe I didn't miss Everyone....
Well, maybe Jim will pop in one time, or Lolly...
I did only the things that I could understand with the diagnostics helpers that Deb sent me...I had never done defragmenting in the
3-1/2 years I have had this baby. So it was much needed...
Is it coincidence? I noticed a distinct slow-down difference when the new NCTC site was configured.
I'll holler at everyone in the morning....want to hear more about Baby Denver, and Sissy: don't you even think about missing that doctor's appointment !!
Love, Peace, and Prayers xo ♥
NatureNut, Dana, Candy-missed you Monday, and Ceil musta had a ton of things to take care of too....
We're due for a visit from Anne-Marie too, and we need to hear how our California Buds are faring with the heavy rains out that way... Jim??? what say ?
It would be great to see EVERYONE on here all in one day !!
x o
Hey! there is new view on the RHDC cam site !
I mean, RDHC
And things are wild and crazy in PIX PA
...Oh, oh....cam looks gnarly.....
Nothing in Finland, PA, or Snowman Cam.
Howdy Nature Nut... Yes, I guess Panda Nap describes it, and I will surely need another one before too long....think OUR CAM is kaplooie, went down sometime between 1 and 4 am I guess, noticed it on one of my sleepwalking trips...
Yes, the rush-rush and time crunches make it hard to be serene right about now...You Take Care!
xo ♥
Weather Forecast has me all tied up in knots...it is 33-degrees in Elkins...Norma and Carol will notice it first on its way East....:(
Lolly and Deb have already had it!
