I accidentally opened Pete's Pond, and I'm kind of glad I did because the pond is full again ... it looks like it has just rained.
Beautiful down there, but not much to see at the moment except the Guinea Fowl. A lot of times larger animals will stay away for a while after the rain; they can probably get enough water where they are feeding.
I love your all's tales about your doggies....I look forward to the day when I can have a few of my own! When I grow up I want to be a Retired Person of Wealth with some Great Dogs to wake me up !
Hope it's a great day for all, especially LORETTA who is doing some great things at work today for a lot of folks !
Paula, I know exactly what you mean about moving anything and having to wake up. When I find myself waking up before it is time for the alarm or on weekends when I'm not with family I try my darnedest to not let Buddy know I'm moving a limb. It is so funny.
Welllll T-Bird! We're finally on at the same time!
I live in an apartment right now, so a bunch of dogs is not an option...I hope to get out, sometime, someplace where I have a yard, some trees, birds and all that jazz...and might have to wait til retirement before I can do that!
But, here in this neighborhood, we do have over-wintering Robins, crows, blue jays, Canada Geese, Carolina Wrens, an occasional fly-over from a Blue Heron, and a few other noisy things so I am pretty content with all that!
And then there was the year a big flock of Tunda Swans flew over on a full moon night in December...that was wonderful !
and some of the them flew across the face of the Moon! I thought I had died and gone to heaven!
My naturalist friend in New York still has Spring Peepers and American Toads singing...says he figures they are equating the shorter days in the Fall, to the short days in the Spring...Happens every year up there for him...soon they will stop.
Good morning!! Just wanted to jump on and see what ya'll are up to this morning. Mattie has cheerleading pictures today and then a game, so gonna be a day at the ball field today.
I hear ya'll on the dog thing. I get up a thousand times a night rearranging three dachshunds around a queen size bed to make room for me and Tom. Tough life but somebody's gotta live it!
I still miss the "BS" show, in the first summer we had this blog, it was a treat to wake-up and read the comments of Belle and Suzanne...we still miss you ladies.
CANDY...are we glad to see you, know you have been busy, but we all thought it odd that you didn't get time to jump on here now and then...glad you are OK and the wedding is behind you:)
Good Saturday morning to you all froim the Outer Banks of No. Carolina; Magpie, Paula, Jo, Mits and Ceil. So sorry to have been gone soooo long, but a lot has happened; bad case of poison ivy, internet problems, school tiring me out and the wedding. Rather than get off and on in a flash, I just stayed off, but did look in now and then. I've missed you all.
I sure wish I could come up that was for the open house Ceil and Jo., but the wedding killed that for this year. I'll have to enjoy it from reading all your news about it. I am planning for next spring, and if I don't go back to work for another year, then I hope to get up there next October. I miss not getting up to Winchester for my apples and apple butter, pumpkins and the like, besides not getting up to see all you beautiful people.
Oh Candy - I hope the wedding and the poison ivy were NOT at the same time! We have missed you dearly!
Candy - your emails must be putting you in Email Jail! lol My advice to you is to DELETE anything from us Momsters that is older then 1 week! If anything important has happened we'll catch you up on it!
I see that Wanda has here costume shop going again this year. I hope she is getting alot of business.
MEGAN, I got the most beautiful buqiet of flowers from my husband just before the wedding and I thought of you and your beautiful flowers. I took the trip on the Yellow Submarine yesterday and enjoyed it. Didn't have to pay to go. :)
The wedding went fine. Just like you all said, " Shut up, show up and wear beige.: :) I wore a forest green long dress with a light jacket over it. No beads or blings; just some dark green embroidery here and there. It was more my style.
They were married at the same place as the reception, so that was easy enough. Once the service was over, everyone went out onto the terrace for drinks and hordevours,(?) while the tables were put in place. Then we formed a reception line as they came back in and the dinner was a buffet. They had a violin and something else playing before and during the service, but a dj played music for the dining.
Those turkeys are sure brave being this close to Thanksgiving. :) My Mom used to have a flock of them come through her yard up in NY to feed. It was funny to see them in the trees.
glad to hear everything went well....our sons's and d-i-ls aniversary is next week, 4 years, feels just like yesterday...we had so much fun that weekend...I called it a love-fest:)
Oh Mits, I meant to tell you that I met my cousin that was the matron of honor at my wedding and haven't seen her in over 35 years. She came to the wedding and I started telling her about all the fun I have had with you all and how we watch even the Pandas and that you volunteered at the National Zoo in DC on the Asian trail with the Pandas, she told me that she had been on a trip to Chine and visited the place where they had the earthquake and got to hold one of the baby Panda's. Lucky duck.
MITS, I am not one for big doings, so I was happy with around a hundred people. Everyone said how nice it was and the food was very good.I got up for the dance with Josh and we cut a rug. AND I was proud of myself for not crying one drop. They are now on a 12 day honeymoon in St. Lucia.
Any doings for your son and d-i-l's fourth year celebration. That must have gone so fast. Bet it seems like yesterday.
lol...probably not....with the 2 babies and work...they are lucky if they get a decent nights sleep....everyone has had a cold in their house...Molly is teething....Maggie is a dream...they are just busier than a one-armed painter.
We did have a very nice smallish rehearsal dinner at my most favorite restaurant. Things couldn't have gone better there.
His wife is not over friendly as of yet. I had her in Kindergarten. Thought he would be looking at the sister that was his age and went to school with him and he surprised us with Amanda. She is kind of sick with a lot of allergies and the such and has been very catered to by her mother. I'm hoping that once they live out of the area, they will settle down as two adults.
Gee, that is too bad, but they will have many years to celebrate once the children are a little older and they can settle down a little more in their lives. Maybe you could susrprise them with a cake or something. :)
BTW how are those two sweetie pies doing Grandmother? You are so locky and blessed to have them.
OMG.... Candy is present and accounted for!!! HEy, Carolina Mom...how are you? Guess you heard that we were worried about you! How's life at the beach? And how was the wedding??? Happy Birthday, Belle!
we usually send them a gift certificate from Lobster-gram...then they can order when they have time....I am so lucky those little girls are in our lives:),Candy
Did you have any problems from the nor'easter, Candy? It looked wicked on the Hatteras and Avalon pier cams!! Do you have a link to them??? If not, I'll post it again!
We have a birthday cake with a big sunflower on top for Mason and the staff at BrynMawr. We also have a big beautiful American flag sent by Tom Maiden from Iraq where he is stationed. Thank you Tom. Everybody send all your love, light , energy and prayers to Tom and his fellow soldiers over there and keep them safe till they get home.
Love Brian and Syl. P.S. The little house we have here is awesome. As wonderful as the people have been at the residence we so much appreciate this change for us.
Hello everybody!! Beautiful day:) here's a song that goes out to the birds in my yard that have been singing (if you call it that) nonstop since 5 am- Mockingbird
Gee, Megan...where do you find these? They are so old...I remember when they looked like that! Have you seen their son perform? You can hear and see both of them in him. Safe travels, Paula. Hugs for your Mom. Just think...this time next week we will all be together!
Hi All!! So glad to see Candy has been on! I know she has been busy with wedding and school starting. The beginning of school wears you down!
Mits.....are there going to be husbands at the Friday night get together?
We worked in the yard today. It is nicely mowed, trimmed and edged. It will be all littered with leaves when we return. Trees should assimilate their leaves!!!!
Going to go shower and resume loading the trailer.
yes, Lolly, I sent out an eaglet momster letter last week...it is open to anyone who wants to start the festivities early...can I put you and Jack down for dinner at the Rumsey at 6:30
what if we hear you before we see you....will there be an accent:):), and the fact that you drive up to the joint in a big RV with Texas plates might be a dead give-away:)
Someone asked about the Noreaster down here. Piece of cake. Yes we had ocean overwash, high winds, etc, but we all survived. We dismissed school the day before early and had no school on that Thursday. BUT that meant that we had to make up the day on Saturday:( and no one liked that one bit. I am three miles back from the ocean on the big island of Colington at Colington Harbour and am sheltered from getting the NE winds by a high forested dune behind our house.
Hey MITS, I wonder if the big RV will have an oil well on it. :):):) Oh how I wish I could be there.to see you all again. It has been far too long. Take plenty of pics.
Norma must be watching her Mountaineeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrs playing Syracuse. I have them on here on ESPNU. Carolina comes on at 3:30 playing Notre Dame. Oh boy.
Saturday, October 11 Lun Lun has noticeably spent more time away from the cub over the past two days. Sometimes, instead of returning to the cub directly after a feeding bout, she will lie down in the adjacent den or just outside of the nest box to sleep for an hour or so. Other times, she will return to the cub after being away for a while, lick him for a few minutes, then put him back down and go do something on her own again. The cub does not seem to mind Lun Lun's longer absences. He usually rests quietly or does his daily exercises - push-ups, head-lifts and roll-overs. Lun Lun's behavior is a normal progression of maternal care; as the cub grows, Lun Lun needs to produce more milk for him, thus she needs to spend more time eating. In the wild, giant panda mothers often have to travel quite far from their dens to find a nice patch of bamboo, so once the cubs reach a certain age they are left on their own for longer periods of time while their mother forages. Just because Lun Lun is loosening the apron strings does not mean the cub is getting less care -- he is growing steadily every day. Yesterday he weighed 1635 grams (3.27 pounds).
Did I see where someone said the new cub is a boy? I watched it born on video and listeded to it's squeels along with the mothers noises. How wonderful.
Ok....here's the deal....Yes, I have a Texas accent. No, Jack, a Georgia boy does not have a Georgia nor a Texas accent. NO, we do NOT have a big RV nor an oil well. We pull a trailer with a Conversion van.
Hey Megan. I was looking at pictures, trying to be able to place some faces with some names. I am going to be so confused! But, I thought it very funny when I saw your picture.....for some reason you are not as I pictured you.
The big deal in our area is gas wells. We signed a lease 2 1/2 years ago and got a signing bonus. Then this last year people started getting BIG signing bonuses. We missed out. We have not started getting gas royalties yet, but they say we are. ????
Jack says to tell you that "No, he doesn't tow his oil well. That would be showing off. And, if he towed his oil well, he could not tow his swimming pool"
Sounds like some are getting very anxious around here! WHOO HOO !!! The fun is soon to begin.
Hey you Texans - I'm the one with the Oxygen Buddy in my hand! Don't mistake me for Ed (Dana's Hubby) He has one also! You'll know me because I talk more!!
Tell Jack he'll feel right at home with this group. Dana,Loretta,Wanda bring their hubbies and Bob Quinn & Randy Robinson & my son will be there. My Hubby said that this was my thing!! IT SURE IS & that's ok with me.
Whoops! I did not send it to her personally, but I did make it where you have to scroll down to see the answer. Darn! I should have looked up her email. Sorry!

FOGGY A.M. AT wwf OSPREY NEST
Hey Candy. Glad to hear from you. If it is just a hi we will take it.
I saw Chubby Buns this morning and is the first time I ever saw a ground hog in the wild.
Two crows in the BW osprey nest now, I think.
I pop on and off lots of times. Any chance you can come next weekend?
There was a ground hog at NCTC last week in the field. Mits did not see it. I don't know why.
I sure wish I could come up that was for the open house Ceil and Jo., but the wedding killed that for this year. I'll have to enjoy it from reading all your news about it. I am planning for next spring, and if I don't go back to work for another year, then I hope to get up there next October. because you kept yelling at Mits...look out for the deer:):):)

I am off to get some lunch.
The wedding went fine. Just like you all said, " Shut up, show up and wear beige.: :) I wore a forest green long dress with a light jacket over it. No beads or blings; just some dark green embroidery here and there. It was more my style.

Lucky duck.
Looks like a Heron or Ibis at the BW osprey site now.

Luney has bee trying to squiggle away from Lun, but she caught him

We did have a very nice smallish rehearsal dinner at my most favorite restaurant. Things couldn't have gone better there.
His wife is not over friendly as of yet. I had her in Kindergarten. Thought he would be looking at the sister that was his age and went to school with him and he surprised us with Amanda. She is kind of sick with a lot of allergies and the such and has been very catered to by her mother. I'm hoping that once they live out of the area, they will settle down as two adults.
nursing time in Atlanta
Gee, that is too bad, but they will have many years to celebrate once the children are a little older and they can settle down a little more in their lives.

Hey LOLLY. Glad to see you can make the trip to Shepherdstown. Hoping you can do it again sometime, so I can meet you.

Cub is all alone
Mits there is a Saturday update.
Saturday,
October 11
Lun Lun has noticeably spent
more time away from the cub over the past two days.

BBL Off to watch the West Virginia ending.

Ok....here's the deal....Yes, I have a Texas accent. No, Jack, a Georgia boy does not have a Georgia nor a Texas accent. NO, we do NOT have a big RV nor an oil well. We pull a trailer with a Conversion van.
You too, huh? alost done laundry here.. So warm outside- might take dog out and give him a b-a-t-h. If he even suspects it, he will hide.
Darn, I thought I would have my picture taken in front of an oil well, and everyone would think I had struck it rich!!
Hey Megan. I was looking at pictures, trying to be able to place some faces with some names. I am going to be so confused! But, I thought it very funny when I saw your picture.....for some reason you are not as I pictured you.
Hmmm.... I'm not sure if that's good or bad.. don't worry, we'll have name tags.
The big deal in our area is gas wells. We signed a lease 2 1/2 years ago and got a signing bonus. Then this last year people started getting BIG signing bonuses. We missed out. We have not started getting gas royalties yet, but they say we are. ????
It is neither good nor bad! LOL Just not what I pictured!
LOLLY - One thing I bet we can count on: We won't be STRANGERS FOR LONG ! -
I might find me a pair of Dress Bib Overalls...that will "tag" me for sure with or without name tag !
xoxo time for ME to do laundry now, since you all have been talking about it...
Jack says to tell you that "No, he doesn't tow his oil well. That would be showing off. And, if he towed his oil well, he could not tow his swimming pool"
Also, he said he is "exceedingly" handsome.
Just remembered last time I used washing machine it wanted to take off or explode....oh brother....
tell Jack we will be the judge of that:):):):):...I'm sure he is:)
No, I do not think we will be strangers for long. I think we are all so very much alike. Definitly outdoor and love nature people!!!!
I gave the message to Jack. He is watching football....did not have a quick come back which is rare for him.
Sounds like some are getting very
anxious around here! WHOO HOO !!!
The fun is soon to begin.
