Well dog gone that live cam...what does it think it is.....now a dead cam.
No trash can here .... I am one of the people that did the google thing and I don't like it. Every time I come in or they go to new thread have to resign in grrrr
Well it is as dark as it is going to get - Now if it would snow the visibility would not be good. I would think that what we see now is what would be seen all night long. Now - Our cam does not shut down to refresh like Blackwaters' - right?
I mean our cam just crashes every now and then.... KEEP THE FAITH !
I noted when entering the blog that Belle is spending the night on the nest, but I don't see any comments about it at the end of the blog...looked this time (hahaha).
Well we are all on Labor Watch management...we only post about her every time she moves a muscle or twitches a feather otherwise we are women ya know we can find all kinds of other things to talk about LOL
Me and Matt are going to find something to watch on TV. I will check back in a little while. I will have the cameras up so all I have to do is look over at the computer. I hope to be able to see 2 eggs at BW and 1 underneath our precious Belle in the morning. More will definitely be revealed.
Current conditions as of 8:53 pm EST here in Martinsburg , West Virginia Mostly Cloudy Feels Like: 4° Barometer: 30.01 in and rising Humidity: 34% Visibility: 10 mi Dewpoint: 1° Wind: WNW 24 mph Sunrise: 7:25 am Sunset: 5:24 pm
LOL OK Thanks for all the updated weather. I do think overall eagles handle the cold pretty well. They never seem to be bothered by the cold when I see them around where I live. I freeeze trying to take their picture but they seem fine. I think Liberty might actually have a colder windier spot than Belle has...depends which way the wind is coming from I guess
well the wind here is blowing from the south because i have abig sign on door asking customers to close door behind them.. or it will whip the door back hard..
I was watching Liberty this afternoon bring in the soft grass and poking the hole and really shoring up the 11 and 12 o'clock position of nest...he's a good eagle dad.
Well I too am going to call it a day. I will glance at the cam off and on til news is over for whatever I can manage to see, but am pretty much hoing and praying for cams to work and lots of gresat Eagle and egg watching and care int he morning. Good nIght all.
Good night Belle and you too Liberty. We are all sending warm thoughts your way tonight.
I hope it is just my computer and not the cam...not getting anything...nevermind....all is well! Belle is still there...and I am saying goodnight too. See ya'll in the a.m. and hopefully we'll get a peek at an egg!
Finally got back in here before bed i sent message on momsters i could not get in here or bring up camera.. It seems to be updating its just acting up .. MTBR Niters i could see she is still in nest facing 11 position
Good morning Suzanne Its a little after 4 am where I am. Can't get back to sleep so thought I would stop in. Yep there she is. Man I wish I knew if picture is updating or not. Glad you didn't have a mess to deal with going in to work this morning. Eyes to the nest...let us know if cam is a mess.
OK I will make it more positive, remember I am half asleep. Let us know cam isn't a mess LOL.. No can't say that I have seen any movement. But I coul dhave missed the quick move you saw. Yep i will kep an eye open...or at least I am going to try,
I think she has her head tucked in her wing, very similar to the way Mama BW is sleeping too. So the mama eagles are sleeping and at least this Momster is awake...what is wrong with this picture. Gonna lie back down and try to doze for an hour.
Suzanne did you see the update on BW eagle page on left side where it shows we might have two eggs?
Last night the infra red light was glaring we all thought we see two eggs side by side. We are pretty sure of it. But waiting for daylight and her to move to be positive.
Well one think for sure is all that fear that BW Mom was leaving egg. We all learn't something new again from Lisa and a first time Eagle Mom. Once she lays two she'll stay on nest longer. Sure was scarey and a strain on us all though learning that.
Oh Suzanne you wouldn't believe how I just moved things around. I just can't go back to bed and leave these two Moms!!
While keeping an eye on screen, I removed my computer chair. Put rocking chair there. Put old monitor screen out in front, pillow on top to get my legs up higher.
The days while daughter was here her friend has steps plus just a bit of grass to walk in but it did my back and legs in. Then yesterday driving and the driving for day we picked her up. Did me in. Then of course yesterday I had to be with her don't know when I'll see her again. So after she went through screening at airport. I followed her side by side (but she was a distance off but could see me) as she went for her gate. Then bingo wall for me no more daughter. bamb boom gone
LOL OK gonna watch the sun rise with you all now. I have to admit I couldn't make out 2 eggs this morning as clearly as I could last night LOL...and I sure wish I could say it looks a little lighter to me for our nest but it doesn't so I shall go make tea and come back with lots more nest info LOL
I won't be happy with our cam until the pic clears from foggy. I looked out window it isn't foggy out. So I am hoping our cam is working I know it is updating time. CAM WORK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now since I obviously can't see clearly enough to do an egg count this morning and it cettainly looks a whole lot like its getting daylight at BW but not at shepherdstown I think I will go with last night plan that SUzanne will be giving us this morning's egg count. so Suzanne we will be waiting and watching for your official word on this mest and egg situation. We know we can Count on you.
Good morning paula I might still be in a little fog here as have been up for over 2 hours now. Lied back down after Suzanne and I discussed when daylight would arrive but as soon as my screen went off I got up and ran right to the computer. I need to be able to see the monitor this morning for sure. Got to co change those settings cause I plan to sleep a little later today but want to glance at the screen if I open my eyes.
I am still studying BW the wings in back are spread some but not as much as she usually does. I keep going back and forth in my mind since she got off the eggs if there was a switch. And now I see where someone I think Paula is asking did they switch. Paula to be truthful that as I said has been back and forth through my mind since she got off the egg/eggs (I think eggs). The feathers are spread so I am going to say IT IS MOM on nest.
LOL, just looked at the BW Osprey cam...it has really been cleared out of sticks...those osprey are gonna have a heck of a time rebuilding that nest!!!
Ok Suzanne stay on toes please for BW pic. I'm getting sick (low sugar) need to get something to eat. I'll be back as soon as can please keep comments going ty.
Good Morning , The cam is updating but the picture is the same hmmm? It is daylight here now you think it be brighter...Had a terrible time getting back into blog n cam late last night... Wish we hear something from Steven and or he make anew thread... Wake up Steven we need you!!! Doctors appointment at 10am MTBR
i WENT OUT AND CAME BACK IN BROUGHT UP CAM AND NOTHING STILL SAME PICTURE WITH OVER N INCH OF BLUE BLACK RED GREEN LINES AT THE TOP OF CAM WINDOW???????? HELP STEVEN!!!!!! ...bbl shower time
Good morning everybody. I saw last night that our cam had stopped refreshing. So disappointing. Hopefully it will get back up this morning so we can see if we have an egg.
Lisa has updated the BW web page. Looks like there is still just 1 egg.
Well tryed again and its still the same and your right Paula.. Grrrr the sun is shining bright here and the cam should be also BUT IT NOT!!!!! FRUSTRATED.. can you see the difference between NCTC cam and Blackwater cam the clarity of the pictures??? Maybe NCTC needs to get someone who knows what they are doing besides Huey Duey n Louie to work on the cam!!!!! Sorry Steven bet u r as frustrated as we are at this point..
We recently held a meeting here at NCTC to discuss new plans for this year's eagle cam. We are fortunate to have a new staff member on board who previously worked for a company that sells webcams for use with wildlife, so our expertise in this area just took a huge step forward.
We should have a game plan for what we plan to do this winter, and when we have some decisions , I'll post them here. Some ideas includ: multiple cams, robotic cam that can be controlled remotely (moved), and audio so we can hear what's going on.
Can't say how this will settle out just yet, but we are excited for a new nesting season, assuming our pair comes back, which we ceretainly anticipate.
We are going to outsource the web access this year to allow the still cam a much better refresh rate than the 30 seconds that our network folks afforded us last year. I've mentioned to a few folks that we face significant hurdles regarding network security and bandwidth limitations, and we believe this approach gets us past these issues. We are working through the contracting now, and have targeted Dec. 6th as the start date. We will strive to hit that target.
We will also experiment with a wide shot camera along with the existing cam. We recently got a brand new microwave receiver which should help with cam reliability.
The live video will start on or around February 1, and will stay on through the end of July.
We are also looking now at technology for next season that will improve the cam, and add audio. Based on the behavior of these eagles, we figure we only have a couple of weeks window in August to make the improvements.
The cam has been on here for a few weeks now, and we have watched the eagles slowly preparing the nest with new sticks.
I know that this has been a long haitus, but hang in there and we'll be up soon.
No wonder are stuff (cams equipment) is going bad. The guy worked for a place that "sells cam equipment" well what percent is he getting on the side now. Keep replacing our stuff that properly was good. Ok I know some aren't going to like that remark but JMO.
Yeah, remember, the eagles didn't give them much time to work near the nest. But this is so frustrating. When I first started watching BW cam, they always had problems with the cam slipping, and occassionally they would have power issues. They worked at improving things, and really have a great cam going now, so hopefully things will improve for the NCTC cam.
I feel sure NCTC is as frustrated as we are. It seems like things keep going wrong but this is still relatively new for them so we need to be patient and let them get the kinks worked out.
Don't ask for patience cause God can certainly test you with that asking.
Sure at some point NCTC will get the still can and live feed working. It is one of their projects for the "world to learn about eagles". Of course, no one can run down there and straighten things out so we do "have to wait on them at NCTC to fix the problems".
Well, Dana, it is a Nat'l wildlife refuge, the cams get support and extra funds from the friends of Blackwater group. The whole focus at Blackwater is conservation and the cams are a huge part of that. The guys at NCTC have many other jobs than just keeping the cam working, think there just happened to be an eagle nest on the property and they decided put up a cam. Perhaps public support can help make this project more of a priority. Don't know how much Gov. funding goes towards the cam, they may not have a huge budget for it.

OK its back again. Started being a little persnickity just before I went to bed last night. Man I hope the cam is right !!!
OK I will make it more positive, remember I am half asleep. Let us know cam isn't a mess LOL.. No can't say that I have seen any movement. But I coul dhave missed the quick move you saw. Yep i will kep an eye open...or at least I am going to try,

LOL yepper...decided I was hungry so went to get a bite to eat.
Morning BW Mommie eagle and Morning Belle our beautiful eagle and maybe an egg.
Good morning Suzanne and GLo.
Suzanne did you see the update on BW eagle page on left side where it shows we might have two eggs?
Last night the infra red light was glaring we all thought we see two eggs side by side. We are pretty sure of it. But waiting for daylight and her to move to be positive.
BW Mom is looking down
She BW Mom just turned herself

I'm just glad our cam is staying up for Our Nest.
BW goes down at 11pm till 3am up it has been working well.
Surprised wasn't you too see "two" hee hee
In the years that Belle has laid an egg the earliest was Feb 9th. This is truly early for her.
BW Mom just turned her head again
Well one think for sure is all that fear that BW Mom was leaving egg. We all learn't something new again from Lisa and a first time Eagle Mom. Once she lays two she'll stay on nest longer. Sure was scarey and a strain on us all though learning that.
Oh Suzanne you wouldn't believe how I just moved things around.
I just can't go back to bed and leave these two Moms!!
While keeping an eye on screen, I removed my computer chair. Put rocking chair there. Put old monitor screen out in front, pillow on top to get my legs up higher.

BW is restless now that back. Checking eggs again. Looking around.702am

Paula to be truthful that as I said has been back and forth through my mind since she got off the egg/eggs (I think eggs). The feathers are spread so I am going to say IT IS MOM on nest.

Suzanne, see above. :)
In Sharon's (ty Sharon) first statement Suzanne it says "multiple cams".
Floralgirl (Megan) good morning. Is Blackwater a government property like NCTC is?
I feel sure NCTC is as frustrated as we are. It seems like things keep going wrong but this is still relatively new for them so we need to be patient and let them get the kinks worked out.
Don't ask for patience cause God can certainly test you with that asking.
Sure at some point NCTC will get the still can and live feed working. It is one of their projects for the "world to learn about eagles". Of course, no one can run down there and straighten things out so we do "have to wait on them at NCTC to fix the problems".
Got Mei and Tai up and our prince is all over Mei. lol that's our boy
She goes first he is on hind leg biting her and walking on his hind leg right along with her lmbo
Maine is still broken that was a nice cam. They probably will be working on it.
