Mei is such a good mom :) Does anyone know how long it is until she'll be receptive to Tian Tian again and bring us another lil bundle? My kids are 21 months apart - so was pregnant when my oldest was a year old :) How long are panda's pregnant? Must not be very long if the baby is the size of a stick of butter - what an analogy that was... lol

That's how Frodo the peregrine falcon was summed up when he shot to fame in The Courier-Mail in 2003.
The plucky peregrine, who lives slap bang in the middle of Brisbane city, became the focus of a
Courier-Mail webcam designed to give readers and insight into the breeding cycle of these unique and spectacular birds.
But Frodo didn't come to our attention under the best of circumstances.
It was February and the fiery falcon had laid claim to the rooftop of one of Brisbane city's most prestigious highrise apartment buildings and was ruffling a few feathers.
His fearsome and continual swoops on anyone who ventured on to "his" roof had brought maintenance work to a halt on top of the Admiralty Towers One building.
Frodo had become a health and safety issue.
Workers needed to access the roof to check exhaust — which extracts steamy air from some of the poshest bathrooms in town — but not one of them was willing to put a steel-capped toe out there unless they could be protected from the bird.
At first residents and workers believed Frodo was an osprey or sea eagle.
But when Courier-Mail photographer Nathan Richter snapped a photograph of the mystery dive-bomber, ornithologist Roy Sonnenburg quickly identified him as a peregrine falcon — the fastest animal in the world, with a swoop speed in excess of 300km/h.
No wonder those workers were scared.
Some people were demanding the bird's eviction, others welcomed this precious piece of nature into the concrete jungle of Brisbane's inner city.
National Parks and Wildlife officers were called in to assess the situation and Environment Minister Dean Wells dubbed the city's most popular high-flyer "Frodo", in reference to the Lord of the Rings movies.
A compromise was reached, with workers protected by Wildlife rangers when they ventured on to the roof top.
Admiralty Towers One manager Leon Azar revealed Frodo and a lady friend had in fact been nesting on top of the building since 1999, with eggs usually laid in August.

You have to try this out! If any of you actually do this exercise, I wish I could be the one to secretly see you completely absorbed with the directions and not knowing you're being watched.
This is so funny that it will boggle your mind. And you will keep trying it at least 50 more times to see if you can outsmart your foot.
But you can't !!
#1. While seated, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles with it.
#2. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand.
Your foot will change direction!!!
I told you so………………………... And there is nothing you can do about it.
Well that was a good movie.

Mema Jo, couldn't keep that foot going right, no matter what I did. That is so funny.
Now in being a transcriptionist and using a foot pedal, can't type a lick if my left foot is on the pedal. Also, I never use my left thumb when typing. Does anybody else?
I hate I missed seeing the eaglet this evening but I did get to see it this morning. Won't be on long tonight as I have to start work at 6 a.m. and brat boy is wanting to get on Yahoo IM, AIM, and myspace. He is quite the multitasker.
And, I want to report that I was a good girl tonight and took all my medicine like I was supposed to. Hard to do but really want to get better and this not turn into pneumonia or something stupid like that!

Floral girl I forgot to tell you I do hope you get to feeling better too, and very quickly. I am so very sorry aobut the lack of rain for you. I love my flowers and hate it when they dry out, it would be even harder though if they were also a source of income. Maybe this weekend you will finally get rain even if Belle's new hairdo does get wet!!!

At the Maine eaglet site, the sun is glistening on the water and then sparkly through the spider web. It is so beautiful. Now if an eaglet would show up, it would be an absolutely perfect picture.

Good Morning All! I think it is going to be quiet here, now that everyone is going back to work, but, that just means we are that much closer to seeing the eagles again. Going to check around for some eagles up in Maine. SHARON you probably will get your work down in record time today.
