OH LORI!!---Just wait until you see the EAGLES----I repeat the same story every time some one sees the EAGLES at nest the first time!! (i swear the first time i saw the nest & the eagles---i thought i had died & gone to eagle heaven)--It is an AWESOME FEELING---
Thanks Margy didn't see the "How do you feel about a new thread".
I mentioned over there: Wing exercises by Hidey.
They were just moving the Kentucky Cam all around. Of course you had to keep refreshing. Show outside the nest a piece of egg shell. Showed the cam. I am wondering if they were looking for the whole 3rd egg that hasn't hatched.
Norma it is an awesome feeling to finally see them LIVE AND UP CLOSE. (don't forget your binoculars, or you can borrow ours) There seems to be an AURA around that sycamore tree...truly.
Lori, we will be having lunch in the EAGLE EXPRESS. BBQ-Pulled Pork, cole slaw, BBQ Gene's Beans, Mac & Cheese and drinks and coffee and snacks. No charge. We will be eating dinner at the Tuscany Grille which is in the Clarion in Shepherdstown at 5pm. Will you be joing us there?
Lori hubby and me watch for hawks when we are driving and he likes finding groundhogs also. When I went to the nest the first time. Hooked could be the word. In love I think is best! I have always loved nature. Got out more to see it when younger. Those two Eagles took my heart and soul into their lives on the cam with their chicks and in the real world too.
I did get to see Liberty up VERY CLOSE one day. For them flying I am about 10 minutes away. I was pulling out of our WalMart parking lot. Sitting at the stop light. My whole front windsheild became ALL BALD EAGLE. I seen where it went; just across the road to a pond. So I raced the car across to the pond. Sit in car facing it and again my windshield became full of all eagle. I got out of the car with my heart beating so fast and the biggest smile on my face. With just AWWWWWWE in my thoughts. As I watched it land in a tree near me. Then in flew down again towards the pond caught its fish and off it went. At the time I had called a friend watching the site. Was told Belle was in the nest. To this day and always I will never forget that heart racing in love moment. Sorry I went on.
The first time I went to the sycamore tree, we pulled up by the barn. It wasn't nesting season then. One of the parents was perched on a branch there. I cried. It was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen.
wow Dana, that's some story! I've never seen a wild eagle up close, but have seen them flying. I will say prayers for your husband, too. I'm really leaving now, I just got distracted by Hidey's big fish!
Paula, when Belle (I think) first got there with the fish, Hidey snagged it but didn't mantle. Kept looking at Belle and cocking his/her head back and forth until Belle started feeding him/her. So funny. It is being a little baby today.
Sharon, love...don't forget you saw the rehab eagle up close and personal in Oct., didn't you??????? BtW...are you coming up Sat. am or tomorrow evening? Wanda, that would be the Spring Mills WalMart, but not sure about pond unless it's close to what used to be called Motel 81.....always a lot of geese there. See you fine fowl friends this evening. Hope everyone has a great day!
You might have already read, that the youngest chick at Hilton Head, "DS" failed to survive, unknown reason, has been lifeless in the nest since Wednesday morning sometime. Sad thing...the chick had seemed to be doing okay. Twitter on BWO has a link..
Gooe morning!! I am getting so jealous of your get together!!! I want to be there soooo bad. Maybe nest year at this time...I am going to aim for that.
I will never forget the Sunday evening last October after the train ride. Paula and Deb met us at the nest. There they were, Belle and Lib. Jack had his spotting scope and we could see the pupils of their eyes. My eagles! It was a special time there by the barn watching them. When we left Paula gave Deb and me little furry baby eaglets. Mine sits beside my computer. Reminds me of that special evening and of course every time I get on the blog, there is Deb's picture taken that evening. How cool is that?!
Hey maybe I should send a skinny picture of me to stick in a bottle. And, don't forget to order for me.....a good steak will be fine. (medium well, thank you!) And, a good glass of red wine!
Oh, Jo! I am really feeling left out this morning. Getting a little emotional. This is the pits, gotta get a grip!!! You guys are the greatest and I would so love to be there with you!
Apparently one of the NBG eaglets has branched or fledged. Was watching when all of a sudden the third one flew in.???? From a branch or else where????
Mema, there were some others posting about the problem. I don't use it much so didn't even notice.
Ha - just a few minutes ago, neighborhood cat was very interested in a bird on the ground. Well, the army came out! Cat birds, grackles, starling, even house finches! Cat did not get his booty!

Read about the pop up - Sharon, your blue link works but of course it is a full page and can't be sized down. I'll just use it and put it up by itself.
Mits - make a different request for Sat. Like a desert maybe to have for you!
What do you hear from Ceil & MM since you are down there?
LOL Gotta love it! So, Jo, you will eat a special dessert just for Mits. Fantastic! Maybe I should have requested that as well. If someone else eats that dessert for you then they get all those calories.
Lolly I like Bombay Sapphire gin, my son and jubby chastise me, for using it in a g&t, but I like it, said it is too expensive to mix....don't care...I like it..OK Jo, then someone have a crab cake for me, not into deserts.
Still watching Mei in her birthing den How much longer, I wonder, will her symptoms last as to her thinking she is pregnant? She needs to be out in the sunshine!!
We are having a special weekend Jo. Sunday Laurel and the boys will be here. Her best friend in the neighborhood, you know, her Barbie doll friend, her walkie talkie friend, her very first best friend is coming into town and coming here. We are so excited to see Tiffany. "Bip" to us. She has two boys as well so it will be a special afternoon. She live in Arkansas, so it has been a while since we have seen her.
well Mei is a diva, she wants to be alone most of the time, and when she is good and ready, she will be out and about....going to be a long summer of answering why she is not pregnant again, but "it is what it is".
For those of you who might not have a clue, like I didn't!
Saltimbocca (also saltinbocca) (Italian: jumps in the mouth) is a dish (popular in southern Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Greece) made of veal, chicken or pork, lined or topped with prosciutto and sage; marinated in wine, oil or saltwater depending on the region or one's own taste. This dish is also occasionally topped with capers depending on individual taste.
It appears that the last remaining egg in the osprey nest is not going to hatch. Careful analysis of the egg photos in our galleries indicate that the egg that did not hatch was most likely the first egg laid this nesting season.
The first egg has more dark color on one end when compared to the other two eggs. We noted that the first egg to hatch was a few days later than expected. Since the first egg laid is likely infertile, this would explain why the first egg to hatch was several days later. The second egg laid was likely first to hatch and was on time.
The adults are still caring for the first egg expecting the egg to hatch. It will be interesting to observe how long this behavior may last and what will eventually happen to the egg. It is not uncommon for some eggs not to hatch in the nests of wild birds.
I'm back, and sad. Before I left for my errands I checked the bluebird nestbox in my front tree. As I approached, I saw nothing of the parents and knew something was wrong. Inside the nestbox was a black rat snake, all curled up and no babies. I suspect he got in overnight.
Hello everyone, Do the parents stay in the nest or tree at night with Hidey or are they further away? I was watching Hidey last night and at times I would hear a scratching or knocking sound right at the webcam but couldn't see anything. At first I was thinking it could be an intruder then after I heard it at other times I thought maybe it could be a parent?....Just out of sight where it could't be seen?
Hello Stevie from Kentucky! I was hearing the same thing and either there was a parent near the cam or there is a limb that hits the microphone on the cam, not sure which. At least one parent is never far away I think.
Saltimbocca.....yummy! Really not too rich, Jo. Jack and I make it. (Therefore the added pounds!) It is one of our best company dishes to serve. Hear that, Wanda? The flavor is just fantastic. Serve it with pasta with pesto sauce. Soooo good!
I'm going to remove this particular box. It was here when I moved in and it just randomly placed in the branches of one of the dogwood trees. It's go 2 entrance holes...a very unlikely place for bluebirds to want to nest, esp. because we actually HAVE bluebird houses! I can only hope the mother got out the second hole as the snake was coming in...
Stevie I am so glad your babies are OK! How old are they?
Jo...how long have you had hummers? I have yet to see one and it's really late for me not to have them yet. In fact I usually am reminded to put out the feeders when they start buzzing the shepherds hook where I have been hanging it for years!
Thanks Sharon, My son is watching also and says he saw a glowing eye at the right of the screen and thougt it to be a parent. Idk.... I told him maybe he saw the glowing oye of that spider. LOL I just didn't know if a parent would be that close to the nest at that time of night unless the Hidey would be in danger.
Lolly, we sort of remolded another house into a bluebird house that turned out really well, and then 2 days later, they had nice cedar ones at the Walmart for 10 bucks!
Lynne, Jack, my husband is a wood worker..has a nice shop. He could easily build me a bluebird house. He has built woodpecker houses and an owl house. Unfortunately they have not been used yet.
Hi Folks! WOW am I glad to see that the site is back to 'normal'. I usually have the pop up cam on my laptop during the day when i am on conference calls...and this morning I couldnt get to it...in fact there was nothing on the site except the cam...i couldn't get to the blogsite either...which was driving me nuts because our dear little Hidey was eyeball to eyeball to the cam lens...like UP CLOSE and PERSONAL! And i couldnt get to you guys to see if someone else was catching the event! Was killing me! I am only on a short lunch break so will be leaving the blog...as time does not permit me during the day to join in the conversations...but just glad to see all is back to normal on the site...and our little Hidey is once again gazing out and wondering where he/she is going to be taking off to in the days ahead...this morning was awesome though...right up there in that lens!
Lynne, Really sorry to hear bout your bluebirds! I got a really neat pic the other day of some a mocking bird and 3 other small birds (cow birds i think)attacking a black snake! They had it on the run!
Stevie, mine were born on May 13! In case you didn't know, you can continue to check on the nest until they are 12 days old. After that, you could scare them into fledging before they are ready. I hope yours all make it!!
Oh Lolly! That's funny! I hope he builds you one soon! Up here, they usually raise 2 broods each season so I am hoping, if the mother didn't get eaten as well, they will start a new nest in the real bluebird house soon. I would love to have an owl house! I hope you get some tenants very soon!
Bozzett, I saw Hidey eye to eye also just like u did. Really cool! I thought she might nip the camera to see how it tasted!LOL I was frustrated too not being able to blog about it. Like at 9:00 am a parent came by and fed Hidey.... No one I could share it with!! LOL
Make sure you mark the blog page on your favorites. Then you can get to it whether or not the cam page is open. You can also go to google and type in NCTC eagle cam and come up with it I think.
Stevie Yep...it was killing me...but glad to see all is back to normal...got to scoot back to work now...will check in with all later...lordy this work thing really messes up one's 'eagle watching' and socializing! :) Great rest of the afternoon to you all!
Lynne, LOL!! That mocking bird didn't seem as agressive toward the snake as those other birds. Guess its presence was enough for the snake to want to go!
Lynne, Thanks for the info on the bluebirds! Sure don't wanna scar'em to death!! I did't know if they would even come to the birdhouse that I put up for them. By golly they did!! The next day!!
Snakes...snakes...oh now I'm looking for snakes...sorry about your bluebirds, Lynn, that sucks. Darn mocking birds have built a nest in the hops vine that is at the entrance to one of the gardens-it's the only way in..going to be trouble...and as if that wasn't enough, there is a wren nest right across the path from them. The mocker starts yelling, then the wren comes out of the birdhouse and scolds him, then they start arguing...and scolding me and each other...it goes on and on all day...I gotta get earplugs... Lunch here is a roast beast sandwich- outside in the garden of course, it's a beautiful day out there:)
Hey everyone.. slow go for me today. I wont be on-board tomorrow. taking a few days off winding our way into the mtn.. for a little R & R. I really hope everyone has a great day on Sat and Hidey puts on a show for h/his special audience.Looks like you are going to be doing a meet/greet with a lot of special people!
There was a hummer here about 2 weeks ago but I didn't have anything out for him... He attacked a very colorful ball I had hanging from the Kite Loft Now he has his own feeder and plenty of flowers. I think that others have had the hummers for a while.
thanks, Jo! I have actually been watching the herons and the barn owl on that site, but now I'll adopt these little bluebirds as well since mine are gone.
Ga Girl, I think it was you yesterday asking about those crazy birds dive bombing the Delta 1 nest....I checked with the progam manager and she said they are Brewer's Blackbirds and they have several nests nearby and will be gone in a few weeks, also that they never attack the babies, only the adults. Silly birds! Have a great time in the mountains!
GA Girl - whenever you get to come up to NCTC and view the nest - I will take you into Boonsboro and show you the bed/breakfast house of Nora Roberts! Boonsboro is her stomping grounds! Just another reason to come on up to MD/WV!
Thanks Lynne.. yup.. that was me..they would dive at the Mama when she was trying to feed the babies... I was afraid that they were trying to get her to leave the nest.. thanks for the info
Hi all. I've been offline for a few days but watching Hidey as much as I can. Client work calls! I wish I could be in W.Va. with y'all when you go visit. That would be so awesome. Since Hidey's my "first" eaglet I feel an extra special connection to her/him. Please take lots of pix and let us know how it is!
Lolly, where are you from in Texas? I'm in Houston.
Lake WA nest has shade for them. All others seem to be in the bright sunshine and falling rain. Maybe the NBG and BWE nest have shade...... Guess I best think this one out before making a statement about SHADE!
Does anybody know anything about Nilla? And, who was it that came to the nest visit last year who had never posted on the blog but read it and knew we were meeting there?
Mits - I can't see any info on dates - I really think the cam was down but sorta remember Deb capturing it or seeing an egg. I will check out the Fact Sheet from ME forum member.
Last year Diane Flannigan, VA, came up - her hubby drove her. She emailed me that this weekend is her son's graduation. There was also someone else who came - Eagle Lady (?) but I haven't her name. I think that is of whom you're thinking. She had read the blog & met up at the Clarion.. Someone may be able to give us more details.
Sorry Lynne2 about loss of your bluebirds. I had a nest last year of them 3 babies I endured 2 days of waiting and watching. 2nd day got to see them fledge...that was awesome. Flew out hole straight up onto wire about 30 feet all 3 little rascals.
Stevie Hi so great you have bluebirds. They are beautiful to watch.
Ok where is the Washington nest?? how do I get to it... I have half the world pulled up here now.. just waiting for I.T. Department to tell me to back off!!!
Thanks Dana, and everyone, I sure will miss seeing the bluebirds grow. Although we can't be sure, as we live in a very rural and wooded area, it looked like the same snake Steve and I had to ferret out from under my upstairs neighbors porch steps. She wanted us to kill it, but we just aren't likely to kill something for no reason. We chased it kinda far, but I suppose it could have been him or her again. I packed it up and took it REALLY far away this time!
LYNNE2 when I first started watching the delta nest it looked like a huge duck had crashed into it.. it was large. at first I didnt believe it could be.. until later I saw the bill...and there isnt much room for anything. when both parents try to get in.. its unsteady
You mean today when you started watching them?? Or at another time? Good grief, how could a duck crash into a tree that big! That nest is so small...I checked out their forum earlier today and they said part of it came down in a storm, and that they are relying on nest watchers to contact them if someone falls out so they can send rescue.
lol....was sitting in the LR, taking a break and saw a man on the balcony....the people are slower, lower down here, so they waited til last week to start painting the building and re-doing the balcony floors, asked him if I needed to bring furniture in again, he said no, but not sure if he speaks the English:)
Lynne... poor duck.. no not today .. a few weeks ago. I dont know how it got there.. but it covered the whole nest. they munched on it for awhile.I do hope they can help the little guy today
sometimes I dont see what I see. anyway Lynne.. I assume the duck is not living and no one is going to rescue it.. how dumb of me.. anyway..I read their blog the other day..they had hoped someone would reinforce the nest before the eagles came back... lord I am sooo ready to be off for a few days.. I'm thinking goofy thoughts
oh,it's too late for the duck. But if a baby falls out help will be on the way! I did not actually see the eagle bring the duck in, maybe this one crashed too.
Thanks wv gal Dana, Last year the blue birds built a nest in my mail box.(My door was bent so it did't shut all the way). I was happy about it but the postal carrier wasn't. I tried to work sometin out with her but nothing could be. The blue bird went as far as laying her eggs. I Was hoping the carrier would change her mind but she didn't. The bluebird never came back and one day I went to get my mail and the entire nest was laying out on the ground. (Shame! Shame!) So this year i put up a blue bird house on the back side of the mailbox! I didn't know if they would return after the trauma but by golly the very next day they were busy making a nest in it!! I also have 5 hummingbird feeders, one sunflower feeder, one thistle feeder, and 2 suet cake feeders goin. As if you hadn't already figured it out I love my birds!!! LOL. They are relaxing!!
Yes Stevie you will hear a lot of us talking about birds in our yards or ones we see. If you click on some of the names they will even have pictures of birds, flowers, their homes with gardens, videos and etc. ENJOY!!!
Dana, here is the link for the owl I am watching in Washington State (along with the eagles, herons and bluebirds)http://wdfw.wa.gov/wildwatch/owlcam/video_barnowl.html
UPDATE FROM IWS EAGLE FORUM: Two Harbors nest tomorrow (Friday) to band the chicks, clean the lens, and hopefully fix the microphone. We should arrive at the nest between 11 am and 1 pm. Now that we have switched to WildEarth as the streaming video provider, there should be less of a chance of the video feed being disrupted. We will be video taping the event, just in case.
Next week/weekend we will band the Twin Rocks and Pinnacle Rock chicks, and we will be banding the West End chicks on June 5th.
I have red birds, blue birds ,finches (a few) and from time to time a indigo bunting.. but my hummers just dont like hanging around.. I have squirrels too... we fight over the bird feeders. a few months ago we had two (pet) rabbits take up with us.. really big ones. one brown and white. the other black and white. they were just getting to where they would come near my husband when he feed them.. sadly something got both of them. We never found where they came from..OH and lets not forget the deer.. we live in a subdivison too
GA_Girl before we downsized the place we had was in a subdivision also. We had deer, squirrels, fox, possum, all different kind of birds, hawks and rabbits. We made a place in the eve of our workshop for the squirrels to have their nest. The babies would run across the roof. Next to the building was a cherry tree. When the babies got bold enough they would try to manage their way onto a limb shaking like crazy as they did it. I could hand feed them. For the deer I used a brown mineral salt lick. All the birds, deer, squirrel and animals loved it. We also had a mulberry tree. When the doe would bring her babies in. She would pull the branches down so the babies could get berries. There was also a big acorn tree beside the mulberry they sort of grew into each other. Boy did the wild life love those acorns. I do so much miss that part of my life there (the wildlife) but that is all I miss from there.
Dana, http://www.hancockwildlife.org/ Click on the camera link and there you will find links for close up and wide angle nests (Sydney, Hornby and Delta1) and it is the Delta 1 nest that the duck is in, or what's left of it now.

I just you all!
When I'm driving and can't see the eagles, I get this feeling that I miss them so much. TMI - sorry. They are just amazing in so many ways.
Lori, these are the only eagles I have ever seen live and in person.
No Lori, not TMI. WE are so with you on that.
Thanks Margy didn't see the "How do you feel about a new thread".

Thanks for being here.
awww, parent switch at Delta 1...I wish I had gotten to Hidey at this age, so very tiny! Meanwhile, I am REALLY going to do my errands now!
Lori, we will be having lunch in the EAGLE EXPRESS. BBQ-Pulled Pork, cole slaw, BBQ Gene's Beans, Mac & Cheese and drinks and coffee and snacks. No charge.

I have fitness this am---LATER!!
ps--YOU GOT THE FEVER LORI---
DANA! Never heard that story. Which Wal-Mart and where was the pond? So exciting:)
WOW - Dana. How smart to have someone check the nest so you knew it was Liberty!
Ok, here is my story.
The first time I went to the sycamore tree, we pulled up by the barn. It wasn't nesting season then. One of the parents was perched on a branch there. I cried. It was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen.
Food has arrived!
I think that is Belle.
Oh, the baby wants to be fed!
wow Dana, that's some story! I've never seen a wild eagle up close, but have seen them flying. I will say prayers for your husband, too. I'm really leaving now, I just got distracted by Hidey's big fish!
Wanda the new one at Spring Mills.
I called later and talked to Steve about it. He is the one that told me from the nest they are only 10 flying time.
How special that was for you, Dana!
I'm going to have to come back and read all the stories! Off to the Dentist!
Bless you all and be safe!
I am off to work this morning, I have been in slo-mo today so I am running behind. BB at lunch time.
That is too bad about the HH Osprey nest. :(
Good Morning Deb--that you should be in slow mode. Have a good day ( : Sending prayers your way.
Morning, all. What a pretty sight! Parent feeding Hidey!
Paula, when Belle (I think) first got there with the fish, Hidey snagged it but didn't mantle. Kept looking at Belle and cocking his/her head back and forth until Belle started feeding him/her. So funny. It is being a little baby today.
Good Morning Paula yes Eagleland is beautiful this morning and great weather.
Just refreshed at Kentucky Osprey and see the 2 chicks and the 1 unhatched egg IS THERE.
Sharon - Hidey is a spoiled little eaglet at times!
Sharon, love...don't forget you saw the rehab eagle up close and personal in Oct., didn't you??????? BtW...are you coming up Sat. am or tomorrow evening?
Heading out for a busy day....read the comments up to now.
Wanda, that would be the Spring Mills WalMart, but not sure about pond unless it's close to what used to be called Motel 81.....always a lot of geese there.
See you fine fowl friends this evening. Hope everyone has a great day!

Hilton Head cam is back on-line.
Chicks just got fed, looks dark and dreary there.
I kind of like Gooe Morning, reminds me of a fish meal at NCTC.
Gooe to "See You", Mits oh, I mean GOOD to see you...xo ☺
You might have already read, that the youngest chick at Hilton Head, "DS" failed to survive, unknown reason, has been lifeless in the nest since Wednesday morning sometime. Sad thing...the chick had seemed to be doing okay. Twitter on BWO has a link..
Good Sunny Morning All!
Opened the cam to a flashing of wings!
Must have been a good meal - I see Hidey cleaning the beak!
How cool is that?!
lol NEXT not nest! And yes, I meant gooe morning!
sad about DS:(
Hey maybe I should send a skinny picture of me to stick in a bottle. And, don't forget to order for me.....a good steak will be fine. (medium well, thank you!) And, a good glass of red wine!
I have not read earlier thread from this am..... Where is my Pop Up NCTC Cam?
Won't be long before Hidey fledges. Saw him fly from his perch under the cam to the other side of the nest.
Hey Buddies - what would we do without Memories! Especially making them!
Lolly
Wish you and EVERYONE could be there in person, but of course, you and EVERYONE will be there in spirit and in our hearts ♥
Lolly, email a photo of your NEW SELF AND WE WILL STICK IT IN A BOTTLE OF WINE....YOU will then, be with us!!
Mema Jo and Mits, I, yes me, posted a blue link on here a while ago for the popup cam.

AMEN:)
Hope someone has a gin & tonic for me;)
Mits! You really should come to Texas and visit us! Jack makes a great G & T! His favorite, but then he loves GOOD wine as well. LOL
Wanda....a wine bottle!!! How great! Remember wine...not a beer bottle!
Lolly You are needed at the baseball
games - You're the main cheering section I'm sure!
Read about the pop up - Sharon, your blue link works but of course it is a full page and can't be sized down. I'll just use it and put it up by itself.
Mits - make a different request for Sat. Like a desert maybe to have for you!
What do you hear from Ceil & MM since you are down there?
Jack is going to lunch with a friend. Will have him take a picture this afternoon...a special pic....just for a wine bottle.
Checking out for awhile, need to nap before work tonight at 6 -
Good Day Wishes to all, and Hello to Deb when she comes home for lunch ☺
Hope wellness swells and comfort abides...
xo TTFN
LOL Gotta love it! So, Jo, you will eat a special dessert just for Mits. Fantastic! Maybe I should have requested that as well. If someone else eats that dessert for you then they get all those calories.
Lolly I like Bombay Sapphire gin, my son and jubby chastise me, for using it in a g&t, but I like it, said it is too expensive to mix....don't care...I like it..OK Jo, then someone have a crab cake for me, not into deserts.
Still watching Mei in her birthing den
How much longer, I wonder, will her symptoms last as to her thinking she is
pregnant? She needs to be out in the sunshine!!
I bet Mei is really lacking in vitamin D! :)
Margy you are right I had put MG chick at Hilton Head but he was the oldest. DS was the last born which would make him/her the youngest.
bbl coffe with hubby
I'll make that a Wedge Salad Mits.
We are going to have an Italian menu this time.
Sure will miss those of you who won't be there!
I'll have a couple of Shirley Temples for everyone...☺
or a nice cranberry juice and ginger ale on the rocks
TTFN - second and last exit this time
yummy, love the wedge salad:)
Jo things are going ok in Baltimore, talked to Ceil briefly the other night...still looking for my 1st dolphin sighting of the season
Mits......crab cakes with green onion sauce. Yummy! But, it is Italian food....so make mine Saltimboca. Not sure of the spelling of that!
Ok, time to go excercise! Have stalled in the weight loss. At 38 pounds and want to hit 40.
Have a great day everyone!
Keep looking for that dolphin, Mits! It's there!

Sharon I'll bring the TUMS if we decide to try that dish! That's a rich dish, Lolly! I think it would do me in!
Glad Baltimore gals are doing well!
Ceil needs to go upstairs and say Hi
to all of us!
Mei is not pregnant because the sperm got lost and didn't ask for directions!!

MORNING YA'LL. I had trouble getting into the blog this morning. I could see Hidey though. hope everyone is having a great day!
could be true, Paula...lol
KEEP UPDATE....
Egg Hatching Update as of 5/20/09
It appears that the last remaining egg in the osprey nest is not going to hatch.
I suspect he got in overnight.
darn snakes:(
Awww, Lynne.
Catch ya'll later!
Darn Snake! Heartbreaking for you, I'm sure!
I was just watching the little Hummer out at my feeder on the deck! I am so
happy to see him!
Need to break for lunch!
BBL
Hello everyone,
Do the parents stay in the nest or tree at night with Hidey or are they further away? I was watching Hidey last night and at times I would hear a scratching or knocking sound right at the webcam but couldn't see anything. At first I was thinking it could be an intruder then after I heard it at other times I thought maybe it could be a parent?....Just out of sight where it could't be seen?
Gonna go check on my bluebirds!
Paula, LOL...must have been male sperm!;);)
Hello Stevie from Kentucky! I was hearing the same thing and either there was a parent near the cam or there is a limb that hits the microphone on the cam, not sure which. At least one parent is never far away I think.
Put fine plastic netting around the pole of the bluebird box and the snakes will not climb around it!
Saltimbocca.....yummy! Really not too rich, Jo. Jack and I make it. (Therefore the added pounds!) It is one of our best company dishes to serve. Hear that, Wanda? The flavor is just fantastic. Serve it with pasta with pesto sauce. Soooo good!
Oh Wanda, just read your comment about "male sperm". ROFLMBO
My bluebirds r ok! I have 4 babies.
Lynne, that is very sad about your baby blue birds. I want a blue bird box. Been hinting to Jack to build me one. They are here, not real common.
Hello Lynn,
My bluebirds were born May 14th!
Lynne,
Really sorry to hear bout your bluebirds!
OK eaglet has really grown and is so pretty. The cam gives a good look at him. Maybe I should go back there and see him. LOL
Oh Lolly! That's funny! I hope he builds you one soon! Up here, they usually raise 2 broods each season so I am hoping, if the mother didn't get eaten as well, they will start a new nest in the real bluebird house soon. I would love to have an owl house! I hope you get some tenants very soon!
Stevie, those mockingbirds could scare away Satan himself!
Time to leave for a while. Out doors beckons me!
BBL
Bozzett,
I saw Hidey eye to eye also just like u did.
Stevie
Yep...it was killing me...but glad to see all is back to normal...got to scoot back to work now...will check in with all later...lordy this work thing really messes up one's 'eagle watching' and socializing! :)
Great rest of the afternoon to you all!
Ok E-E Sharon...will mark blog on favorites...thanks for the suggestion!
Take care all...back to the 'salt mine'
Lynne,
LOL!! That mocking bird didn't seem as agressive toward the snake as those other birds. Guess its presence was enough for the snake to want to go!
Lynne,
Thanks for the info on the bluebirds! Sure don't wanna scar'em to death!! I did't know if they would even come to the birdhouse that I put up for them. By golly they did!! The next day!!
Here is a lunch I bet you all cannot top!
For my appetizer, I had a 1/2 of an apple butter samich. For my entree, a microwavable bowl of ravioli.
Oh, I mean Lynne....been out in the sun too long...
He attacked a very colorful
ball I had hanging from the Kite Loft
Now he has his own feeder and plenty of flowers. I think that others have had the hummers for a while.
Link to Wild Watch's 5 baby Blue Birds
Floralgirl, I think you're right, there's gonna be trouble! Those mocking birds are something else, and boy those wrens sing loud!
LOL Megan -
Which roasted beast are you eating today?
thanks, Jo! I have actually been watching the herons and the barn owl on that site, but now I'll adopt these little bluebirds as well since mine are gone.
Wonder where my hummers are?
You can see an adult and the 2 baby bobble headed eaglets on the
Lake Washington Cam now.
Link for you to bookmark for Lake Washington nest
I have son and dil coming in the driveway!
May be time to plant some more flowers.
BBL
well got to put that roasted beast on my shopping list, Megan:)
fuschia sunset at Finland nest
Mei Xiang is outside
Thanks Lynne.. yup.. that was me..they would dive at the Mama when she was trying to feed the babies... I was afraid that they were trying to get her to leave the nest.. thanks for the info
Hey, Mits, hows about I quit my job, sell my house and give away my dogs and come live with you and we could be beach bums!
lol...Sharon:)
I have a house sparrow out here with 5 babies in front of him and he is feeding them.
that was fast Mei came inside
I cannot understand why you all that live in Georgia, Texas, Kentucky can't come and join us this weekend. Just a hop, skip and a jump away! :)
I would love to come, but the hop, skip and jump from SD is a little too big. I wish WV was closer!
yeah well, I love ya all, but I ain't hop, skipping and jumping from the beach:)
Lunch is not long enough, I barely get the comments read and it is time to go back. We talk too much on this blog! :)
I am running to Yankton tonight, so won't be back on until after that. have a good afternoon and evening!
take care Deb...
OMG.. MEMA JO!!! I am a BIG Nora Roberts fan.. I love her books.. that would be sooo cool
Sharon, hopefully next year I will be right there with you. Its about a 10 hr drive thru..I would love to be there!!
Parent is in LW, I see both chicks, but not a good view of them, darn tree.
Bye!
Oops, one moved and i can see it's head!
See you later this evening, Deb.
Company has left - nice visit - got a new watering can! I always lose my spouts!
good old Mei back to normal
Lake WA nest has shade for them. All others seem to be in the bright sunshine and falling rain. Maybe the NBG and BWE nest have shade...... Guess I best think this one out before making a statement about SHADE!
Try to look now - The eaglets of La Wa
are quite visible... They sure have grown!
Looks as though the one is going to be great at doing nestorations!
Remember you can double click on cam pic and bring it to full screen
THEN reduce it by pressing the ESC key
any idea, when they were hatched...?
One season (last season?) they named the eaglets Peek & Boo because of being behind the tree trunk.
way they are bobbling...could be flopsy and mopsy this year
Does anybody know anything about Nilla?

Someone
may be able to give us more details.
Do you all know what my dumb butt didn't do --????
I didn't reserve a room for Saturday night.
You might be camping out by the barn!
Give me a holler with what you get!!!
Mits which nest was you talking about for the up date?
Comfort Inn in S-town is booked. Clarion has a room for 130 bucks. Is there anything else in S-town? Might have to do Martinsburg.
DANA Update I listed is for the Lake Washginton nest. Mits just read it.
I'm looking at Shepherdstown, Sharon.
Sorry Lynne2 about loss of your bluebirds. I had a nest last year of
them 3 babies I endured 2 days of waiting and watching. 2nd day got
to see them fledge...that was awesome. Flew out hole straight up onto
wire about 30 feet all 3 little rascals.
Stevie Hi so great you have bluebirds. They are beautiful to watch.
Welcome back again Bozzett.
Sharon Check email please
LAKE WASHINGTON CAM
WOW the Delta 1 eagles have a dead duck of some sort in the nest.
Well, that was creepy because it was sitting up and looked like it was still alive.....eewwwww!
LYNNE2 when I first started watching the delta nest it looked like a huge duck had crashed into it.. it was large. at first I didnt believe it could be.. until later I saw the bill...and there isnt much room for anything. when both parents try to get in.. its unsteady
GA Girl try this one
Link to Lake WA nest (double click on cam for full page and then press ESC to reduce)
I am out of here for a few........
BBL
Ok, I officially have a room now at the Clarion. They are going to let me wash dishes and clean the floors for the bill! NAW- NOT REALLY! :)
Thanks everyone for the WA link
Lynne... poor duck.. no not today .. a few weeks ago.
Thanks wv gal Dana,
Last year the blue birds built a nest in my mail box.(My door was bent so it did't shut all the way).
Lynne2 is that Delta OWL your watching?
GaGirl, I call this sort of thing "mental pause". Happens to me all the time! A few days of R and R in the mountains and you be good as gold!
Stevie, your postal carrier SUCKS.
We never found where they came from..OH and lets not forget the deer.. we live in a subdivison too
Dana,
I really have enjoyed blogging with ya'll about Hidey, your birds and just nature. I am glad my husband found the eagle cam!
Lynne2 which nest are you watching that the duck is in?
Sorry didn't answer right away Stevie. I'm glad you found your way here also. We love sharing and having new people join in with us.
I'll check back ya'll. Gonna shark my floors!
Oh wow, my beautiful flycatcher was just out here again. That is a beautiful bird!
I do so much miss that part of my life there (the wildlife) but that is all I miss from there.
ok Stevie, I'm from the north, what are "shark the floors?"
Dana,
http://www.hancockwildlife.org/
Click on the camera link and there you will find links for close up and wide angle nests (Sydney, Hornby and Delta1) and it is the Delta 1 nest that the duck is in, or what's left of it now.
I bet she is talking about the Shark Steam Mop maybe? Don't have one but that might be what it is. I would like to have one though.
