hope everyone is enjoyng the rain we are finally gettng, my grass is looking greener and my buds are blooming.
I have noticed for 2 weeks now a falcon or hawk living in the woods behind my home. Everytime I go to get my binoculars he is gone. From a distance I can see him or her hover in the air, dippng down then back up by only a few feet then poof s/he is gone. It is very excitng yet frustrating my daughter thinks it is cool.
Steven I really enjoyed your other blog, I grew up in the city but we always found nature by us, the children today are losing their playground in nature and it is a shame they can't preserve more land for our future generatons to enjoy. My nephews love coming to my home because they can climb the trees play games in the woods sans the poison ivy and seeing all that is around them.
I watched Limuw and wish I never stopped viewing that cam, such a beautiful site to see one soar into independence.
GOOD MORNING ROBYNANN & SUNNY-- Robyn, thought you were out of town. Are you joining us for our next get-together? You are lucky to have a piece of property that is large enough to enjoy nature the way The Good Lord meant us to. It is very hard to find something like you have now (as you know).
ROBYN-- I seldom watched SC, but just happened to be watching when he fledged. The only bird I ever saw fledge was a bluebird and that is not nearly as impressive as an EAGLE.

I water and water and water every night. Lucky guys.

AFTERNOON EVERYONE Robyn, that "toss video" is a riot:):):)! LOL....HOW ARE WE GONNA KEEP HER IN LINE ON THE 14TH, JO??? She is already excited. WE LOVE YOU, NORMA
It is EXCITING just thinking about meeting all you folks----I have met quite a few of you---I remember---MEGAN was the only person who looked like I thought she would!!!----(she did have a flower behind her ear)--ho!--She is so attractive----
WHOA ANNE-MARIE!!!----We will let you wear your "RED DRESS" & dance on the table at the RUMSEY TAVERN!!!---Not quite VEGAS--but that the best we can offer 7/14!!!! I WOULD RATHER GO TO ALASKA TOO!!-----EAGLES--EAGLES--EAGLES!!
HEY MITS!!----You weren't there---That was that 1st time we all met at the EAGLE NEST!!!----I had only seen pics of JO & NILLA---So I knew them!!!-----I do remember, Lisa, came with me & I told JO--"Norma couldn't come---but I am her mother!!"----SHE BELIEVED ME!!----That should give you a clue!!! ho!
ANNE-MARIE---Still want to hear about your trip to your UTAH RANCH!!!---Bet you had a WONDERFUL time!!!---I think that might be a dream vacation!!---SCENERY MUST BE OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!
I finally got enough nerve Norma to try on that red dress. Oh my.... My mother would faint. Sharon you type for Marshall on the other side of the US. How neat. Go on line and type in Hangtown or Placerville and see what the town looks like. And yes there is a noose and a hanging man right in the middle of town. Thats the way they took care of bad guys in the old west.Hang first and ask questions later. Maybe Jill can take lessons. We would make her notorious. LOL
How many chicks are at CT osprey nest...and what is that thing in the corner that looks like half frog, half turtle, and, a bag a wheat on the left....What a mess:):):)
My trip was beautiful and the reunion went well. The weather cooperated and I got lots of hugs and loves. The most fantastic thing about it was family. I saw cousins I hadnt seen since I was a child. It was like we had never been apart. Our children looked alike and our grandchildren too. Arent genes wonderful?. My grand children were thrilled to meet 2nd and 3rd cousins that looked like them. It was amazing. Southern Utah is red rock and dry. Northern Utah, Salt lake valley is green with huge snow covered mountains and lots of oak and pines. The desert was still green and I saw no live deer but did see antalope and wild horses. My cousin Neil had just caught a wild colt and was in the process of tameing him. I'll stop chattering for now and get back to work. Thanks for asking.
ANNE-MARIE---PLEASE don't give JILL any ideas!!!---She might bring the death penalty back in WV--ho!-----Is VEGAS first?----Thinking if you wear that 'RED DRESS' there---you may not make the ALASKA TRIP!!! JUST KIDDIN'---I bet you look GREAT!!!---YOU GO GIRL!!!!
There could (?) be 3 chicks in the BB nest box. They were just moving around & I thought I could see 3 beaks. I am probably dreaming - If they would just stop lying on one another it would help.
ANNE-MARIE!!---That is so wonderful---meeting aunts, uncles & particularly all the cousins!---I am so happy for you---It does make you feel special & so loved!!----I also remember when the relatives would argue which person looked like which person in the family!!--I am smiling while typing this---SUCH A BEAUTIFUL FEELING that stays with you for life!!---THANKS for sharing!!
Sharon - those are Bluebird chicks from the WDFW site, I believe - Same site you go to for the Kent nest. Bunch of different cams on the left hand side of the page.
Afternoon Ya'll... Mits one of your slothbear's is on cam pacing n pacing back n forth... #63 is setting relaxing i suppose from flights... The weather has cooled off alot and hope all who are traveling this weekend will keep safe... Sharon do you have any plans of visiting any of the historical area's while here? Harpers Ferry?? Yes i can make it for dinner at the Clarion, Sharon. I do so hope you get to see Liberty n Belle at the nest... Norma behave your self!!! lol
YES, JILL, going down late Sunday or Monday...hubby has off work, MON, TUES, WED, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and niece are coming down Tuesday or Wednesday for the rest of the weekend.
Paula he sure does the way he sets n spreads his wings for monets before flight is beautiful.. Just the size of them is astounding... I hope everyone got to watch the program on tv about the flight of different birds i think it was on Animal channel but had music set to it .. was breath taking scenery..
Buta is absolutely flaked out! Love that darling little bear! I have missed watching her. Now, in being on the blog a little today and watching Buta Buta, I had to work almost an hour over. Gonna have to watch that.
It was, Paula. I watched a few minutes of it right in the middle, but it was late, the second time it was on, and it said something about life and death, and wasn't up for the death part.
Paula its been on several times and prolley be on again.. Think i saw it the night before but how they filmed those birds is amazing.. Truely a wonder to watch, and also they gave each birds name and the point from which it starts and ends on the migration...
And how many miles they travel... Tai is asleep on the ledge once again.. my he looks so big laying there... Mits your right about the sad parts.. was sad to watch but all apart of Mother Natures plans, as we all well know.
POST FROM WING TODAY UP IN MAINE.......OspreyCam Back Online I am finally back to civilization after ten days in the field and I have good news. I am happy to report that I was finally able to get to the OspreyCam site and was able to fix the problem. The good news is that the problem was minor and resulted from a likely lightening strike on site. I have also changed some settings so I now have remote control of the camera
The not so good news, is that it appears that the birds nesting attempt has failed. Because the camera was offline, it’s hard to say what happened. The eggs may not have hatched, or a gull may have predated the chicks. The adults are still spending a great deal of time around the nest and there is a good chance that they may try to renest. They are working on a nest site at a new location. If the choose to move to this new site, we can easily turn the camera to the new nest. I have pulled the camera back a bit so that we can see the birds on the left side of the platform.
We will see what happens. Watch the nest here http://www.briloon.org/watching-wildlife/osprey-cam.php.

Well just heard on the news that this wednesday our beloved Predident George Bush will be at the airport for 4th celebration... I think last time he was here was a speech out at Hedgesville High School few years back.. ARE WE LUCKY MARTINSBURG RESIDENTS...LOL
Hahahaha right Jill and i also live about amile from the airport on Winchester Avenue and remember what it was like here the last time, but this time he will be even closer..lol
Hi everyone this evening just getting online. Did a new bending of knee Thursday and set off the spinal stenosis. Don't worry I'll be there on Tuesday. wink
I read comments thank you Norma and all for the laughs. ( :
Sharon are you coming alone or are you brinning the family with you? Be nice to meet your son and everyone.
Good Grief Nilla, you must live right around the corner from me. LOL. I took my youngest to Hedgesville for the historical value. What a mad house. Now one of my oldest's friends works in the security detail so we could get close if we wanted but..............
I will just go downtown when Norma's boyfriend comes in (Sen. Byrd)to his new office. Less security better personality.
Both baby's are laying in the nest neck over neck .. no sign of mom or dad or the other egg.. yesterday the babies had their heads resting on the egg for apillow... I wish the camera was moved up just alittle more...sighhhh
Puget Sound is setting in the far right hand corner bearley <--{SP} visable... Kent kids i like to call "Frick n Frack" are watching something over the side of the nest...Was watching Finland and mightbe raining there as mother was trying to keep kids covered.. they sure have gotten bigger..
Hey Dana GMTA ..lol hows things out in Spring Mills?? When is the new Wal Mart to open before Christmas??? It really going up fast from what i seem passing by there...
Watching woodpeckers on Wavelit - For once I saw both heads of the babies (they are big babies) at the hole peering out and the mother came and fed them.
Hello all. I just watched the woodpecker and saw its tongue come out and pick up insects from around the hole. It looks like it just looks for food right around its doorway. Amazing. Humid here.
I was wondering the same thing Jo, I don't think this is to normal for them to leave these young babies...wish the Kent forum was back up. I bet the cigarette ad guy corrupted it.
I don't know, Nilla - I don't think that those eggs are fertile or they would have hatched by now. Wanda is our BB pro - hope she gets on here! There is so much that could happen to the adults outside of the nest - Nasty old swallow could be back! Wanda said they get fed every 2 hrs - THIS IS JUST AS BAD AS IT WAS WAITING FOR LIMUW TO COME HOME!!! Nature!
Babies get fed 2 times every hour, so that is at leat 10 feedings they have missed. You may be right, Jo; the Swallows may have come back and fought to the death of both. Although, I would think we would see the Swallows check out the nest from time to time or remove the babies.
How very sad to think that parents are not coming back at all.. these small babies left blind ,nekkid of feathers and hungry is heart wrenching to watch.. I agree Jo those eggs wont hatch... Now they are opening their mouths for food and no food... sad sad sad
Not awhimp Jo just a very comapssionate person for all living things as we all are.. I to find this hard to watch and going to stop also... Good night have a safe weekend, Nilla
Howdy, all. Been absent tonight. Went out to dinner with both my sons, DIL, sons girlfriend, grandson, DIL parents. Had a nice dinner at the Carraige House in Emmitsburg - all you can eat surf and turf - yum yum! Also have been gathering up stuff for the market on Sunday. Hope anyone who is in the area can stop by!

Wow, I just opened my screen, and here's a new thread! Morning, everyone! THanks Steve!
Happy Friday all,
hope everyone is enjoyng the rain we are finally gettng, my grass is looking greener and my buds are blooming.
GOOD MORNING ROBYNANN & SUNNY--
Robyn, thought you were out of town. Are you joining us for our next get-together?
You are lucky to have a piece of property that is large enough to enjoy nature the way The Good Lord meant us to. It is very hard to find something like you have now (as you know).
ROBYN--
I seldom watched SC, but just happened to be watching when he fledged. The only bird I ever saw fledge was a bluebird and that is not nearly as impressive as an EAGLE.
Thanks for the new thread, Steven. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Good morning, and thanks for the heads up, Sunny!
Morning Robyn and Wanda. Robyn just posted on the other blog that there was 1 owl in Benicia. I'm thinking maybe mom coming in for the night. Maybe she can get some sleep, now that the kids are gone, hee hee.
Good mornin Wanda, I'm hopng on attendng but July looks to be a very busy month I do have it marked on the calendar. I'll follow emails and posts
Good morning Suzanne I sure do miss those owls. Have you had the opportunity to see "the toss?"
The toss?? Not real sure what that is, exactly? Tossing the pellets?
BB feeding!!!
As far as seeing an eagle fledge, I have to say my adrenaline has not pumped like that since. There is nothing like it. Below is the play-by-play of Spunky fledging, seen through my eyes. Just thought I would copy it on here for those who may have missed it June 14, 2006. Thanks Glo for having this on your blog! I can read it and still get that feeling!
6:41 a.m. He is at the launching pad. Been moving his wings a little bit, trying to get up the courage. Just back over to 9 o'clock and did a little poop shoot and then back to the launching pad. Lightened that load a little bit! Oh my God, he just spread his wings out, he has the look. Nope, folded them back in! Doing a lot of flapping all over the nest. Back at the launching pad, looking around. Just moved a little closer to the edge. He wants to really bad! He is so close to the edge, his head gets out of camera range sometimes. He keeps spreading his wings out like he is going to and then back in. It is 6:50 now. A little head bopping going on. Camera freezing up a little bit. Wings back out. Now back in but head still bobbing. My heart is racing. Head keeps going out of view. 6:56 a.m. Wings back out. 6:58 a.m. SPUNKY HAS FLEDGED!!!
Good grief, you have to be quick! I saw one very wide mouth, then next refresh, both sleeping and now mom is back.
Limuw just made it back into the SC nest....
Kestral cam is finally fixed. You can see the 4 babies laying by themselves. MT nest on the bottom cam since they fledged this morning.
It is on their comments. Someone caught a video of one throwing another out of the nest.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=8beinYgHH3c
Hope it works

Okay, who, what and where are the BB chicks?
Sharon - those are Bluebird chicks from the WDFW site, I believe - Same site you go to for the Kent nest. Bunch of different cams on the left hand side of the page.
SHARON, YOU HAVE MAIL:).
YOU ARE CORRECT, PAULA...I sent her the link, that gal is behind the times, we need to catch her up, heat must be getting to her:).
Mits will you be at the beach next week?
I don't see the BB eggs, just two chicks. Did I miss something? they usually don't cover all of the up when sleeping.
I have returned to this wonderful Eagleland refuge. Those BB peeps are contortionists - can't count them worth a darn.
Limuw is home!
Can anyone find the Puget Sound Eaglet? Oops! I just did - he is down in the very lower right hand corner.
I am watching Buta Buta sleeping. Here is a note from Justin:
I love pandas!
Howdy, Justin! Aren't they cute!
Mits - you find the bestest cards to send! Thanks.
Hi Nilla - Looking forward to seeing you again on the 14th.
Need to be gone for about 3 hrs (Maybe less)
4:09 #63 flew off
NILLA, that would be the dad...MERLIN...he loves to pace when he is outside, he is 25 yrs old and was born at the national zoo.
Doesn't he have a pretty take off, Mits?
Excuse me - I meant Nilla
Paula he sure does the way he sets n spreads his wings for monets before flight is beautiful.. Just the size of them is astounding... I hope everyone got to watch the program on tv about the flight of different birds i think it was on Animal channel but had music set to it .. was breath taking scenery..
Buta is absolutely flaked out! Love that darling little bear! I have missed watching her. Now, in being on the blog a little today and watching Buta Buta, I had to work almost an hour over. Gonna have to watch that.
Was that on last night? I think I saw part of it.
POST FROM WING TODAY UP IN MAINE.......OspreyCam Back Online
I am finally back to civilization after ten days in the field and I have good news.

I copied down the sight and didnt get through. Did anyone else make it?
Well just heard on the news that this wednesday our beloved Predident George Bush will be at the airport for 4th celebration... I think last time he was here was a speech out at Hedgesville High School few years back.. ARE WE LUCKY MARTINSBURG RESIDENTS...LOL
Anne Marie, I just copied and pasted from Wing's site, sent you the address thru e-mail.
Hey Nilla, just what I want to do on the 4th, stand in line to see Bush. Course I have a feeling the line will be much smaller this time around.
Hahahaha right Jill and i also live about amile from the airport on Winchester Avenue and remember what it was like here the last time, but this time he will be even closer..lol
I think I would rather have a root canal.
ROFLMBOoooo thats funny Anne... much less painful huh??lol
Lots of wing stretching at Kent
Anybody check the BB nest? I see 2 chicks and two eggs. Where is the 3rd?
JILL--
I have been watching baby BBs for 2 hours, and have not seen Mr. or Mrs. in all that time. Has anyone else?
We haven't seen the third egg in 3 days. Don't know what happened to it. Unless it was damaged and a parent carried it out.
Wanda the last time I saw Mom was when I posted seeing her at 2:34p.m.
Wanda - Mits
Earlier I had thought it was only 2 eggs but I was having trouble seeing if there were 3 peeps. That was right after 12 noon.
Both baby's are laying in the nest neck over neck .. no sign of mom or dad or the other egg.. yesterday the babies had their heads resting on the egg for apillow... I wish the camera was moved up just alittle more...sighhhh
The top of my BB cam is cutting off the top of the nest. I see one chick laying over the other. Wish I could move cam down to see top of nest.
Falcon on ledge in Harrisburg - probably the red banded female from what the report says
Watching woodpeckers on Wavelit - For once I saw both heads of the babies (they are big babies) at the hole peering out and the mother came and fed them.
Some movement in the BB nest and 1 baby had its mouth open but still no parent... Are those eggs in behind at the top of picture???
Now that looked liked 2 eggs I just seen.
Yes Nilla going up fast...It will make the area be over populated soon.
I am watching the Animal channel and its about raising this baby camel.. adorable
Hello all. I just watched the woodpecker and saw its tongue come out and pick up insects from around the hole. It looks like it just looks for food right around its doorway. Amazing. Humid here.
Hi Sandra that is amazing
I hope nothing happened to the BB couple........... Send out the alert if you see one in the nest box
Thanks!
Have the woodpecker cam up now is that a baby in sticking its head out of the hole?? Oh its chirpinggg
Sandra You have mail
Nilla There are at least 2 young ones in that hole.
I was wondering the same thing Jo, I don't think this is to normal for them to leave these young babies...wish the Kent forum was back up. I bet the cigarette ad guy corrupted it.
Yup thats akid hangin its head out..lol saw mom come n feed it...Still no sign of parent at BB nest and those are eggs at the top..
Lorain Kent Forum was fearful it was all the delisting letters going out!
What's a delisting letter?
The letters not supporting the 'delisting' of the eagle from the endangered list.....
Wanda - I am worried about the hungry unfed BB babies ... What do you think?
Jo did you see the eggs clearly visable when the babies moved? Unless the parent comes back soon i doubt they make it long?? Whatcha think?
Oh, I see, well it is what it is, and, it is a done deal...
I don't know, Nilla - I don't think that those eggs are fertile or they would have hatched by now. Wanda is our BB pro - hope she gets on here!
There is so much that could happen to the adults outside of the nest - Nasty old swallow could be back!
Wanda said they get fed every 2 hrs -
THIS IS JUST AS BAD AS IT WAS WAITING FOR LIMUW TO COME HOME!!! Nature!
JO--
Babies won't last very long with no food or Mom to keep them warm.
Tomorrow will be their last day.
They will die from exposure.
I am watching Comedy Central on tv and this comedien is hysterical talking about Bush and doing impersonations of stars... No food yet for BB babies
Well, that is really sad. It has been over 8 hours since I have seen a parent.
Babies get fed 2 times every hour, so that is at leat 10 feedings they have missed.
You may be right, Jo; the Swallows may have come back and fought to the death of both. Although, I would think we would see the Swallows check out the nest from time to time or remove the babies.
GOOD NIGHT ALL
Thanks Wanda - That is why I may stop watching - I don't want to see the removal of the babies... I am turning into a whimp!
Look at Kent Eaglets---Soak n Wet!
They best shake it off!
No mom or dad at their age to tent over them.....
Wavelit woodpeckers are a Hoot!
They peck at each other in order to be the one to get at the hole!!
Nasty little guy!
Time for me to call it a day
Good Night Everyone
Peace be with you & yours
GOOD NIGHT JO--AND ANYONE ELSE WHO IS STILL UP.
HAPPY FIRST EVE OF THE WEEKEND, FRIENDS...
I went to the bank and did a grocery run after work (haircut too), so I got home late. And, except for Kent, I can't see anything (sob, sob!!).
This cam is down (why?) and none of them at the Islands site is working at this hour. No birds on the nest at Black Water.
"Guess I'll eat some worms," as my Mom used to say in like situations.
If anyone's still up, have a happy.
Jim
