Good Morning Steve--
Come on over Ladies and "Can we Talk"?
Steven, thanks for the new thread. And that would be SO COOL to hang out with the pandas! Did you see Mits? She's on the Asia trail on Wednesdays, but probably gone by the time you were there.
We're watching the Kent eaglets learn how to feed themselves!
Thanks for the heads up, Candy!
The larger eaglet had the food back, and was mantling. Then squaking at the little one. Both are just standing there now, food between them. It's almost sorta under the little one's tail feathers.
GREAT FIRST DAY OF SUMMER, EVERYONE...
Gotta get ready for work.
Jim
OH MY!--
Doesn't Steve have a tough job. He just has to run all over the place. I feel so sorry for him.
Well now, after much squaking, food stealing back, both watching it, now neither is interested and food is just laying there. Parent still in tree watching.
LOL, yeah, Candy, guess it's a rough life, but somebody's gotta do it! Might as well be Steven!
Well it finally got the best of one chick and he is back eating or whatever.
Uh oh, little one is gonna tackle the food again.
Little one has stolen the meal again, and has dragged it over by him. Bit one is up by the tree with the cam.
Oops, that should be big one over by the tree with cam3 mounted on it. Looks like the little one is getting the hang of it! Bit one still watching.
He's got it now. Both feet on the food, and pulling with beak!
Candy, look how the big one is laying down taking a nap. Ho hum, I am sooooo bored! Little one eating.
Oh, big one woke up, guess the bored pretense didn't work.
Oh oh, big one is coming over, and it is a stare down.
LOL, yup think he's trying to steal it back. Little one may let him, he's backing up on the tree. This is too funny!
It looks like the big one has taken over for now. Go and get it little one.
Oh well, you snooze, you lose.
yeah, this is too funny! Little one must have heard you, he's not giving up without a fight~!
Oh my, let's share guys. P L E A S E!
Big one has it now, under her feet. This is priceless!!!!
LOL, look at the look on little one's face!!!
Oh well, I guess the little one gave up.
I'll bet that squak was loud!!!
Look at this, little one was trying to sneak behind back of big one to get to food! This is hilarious! Now the big one's laying on it, and they're talking.
Eww! That eagle will really smell fishy after laying on it. It must be hot, as they have their wings out.
Now they're both mantling! They probably each have a part of whatever it was under them, and by golly, they're gonna keep it!!!
It would serve them both right if it fell out of the nest.
Man, neither one of them is moving an inch! This is hilarious!!! Parent still watching from tree.
Oh is that the idea. What a riot.
LOl, Candy, never thought of that! Oh that would be funny! Look at these 2, they're absolutely not moving a muscle!
Oh this is too funny. Neither has moved a feather!
Uh oh, big one getting up...
BRB.
Guess the big one has the food under her now, and she's mantling. Little one is mantling too, so maybe he has some under him too.
Parent just took off. Wonder if he's gonna get more food, so they can do this all over again!!!!
Hmm...blogger stole my earlier post!
Morning, all. Sounds like a great evening Steve. Hope you stayed "cool".
I think they are waiting for you to get back Suzanne before they do any more antics. The one is still mantling and the big one just sits there looking around from time to time. It looks as if breakfast is till there by the big one.
Good morning Paula. Happy first day of summer!
Miller Park Zoo eagles update -
The saga of the eagle egg at Miller Park Zoo had a sad ending Monday when an examination showed it was infertile all along.
Only a yellow yolk and brownish fluid spilled out after zoo director John Tobias placed the egg inside two gallon-sized plastic bags and cracked it with the edge of his cane. Tobias wanted to know if the egg ever was fertile or if a chick died during development. Eaglets sometimes are unable to escape the shell.
"The question has been answered. No baby," said zoo volunteer Sandy Simpson, who witnessed the procedure after Tobias and zookeeper Erik Heinonen entered the enclosure and retrieved the egg. The eagles were perched on logs above the nest they built on the ground. Beauty called and called. The sound seemed to have a mournful tone.
The zoo's adult female eagle, Beauty, and her companion, a male eagle named Mathata, abandoned the egg over the weekend after caring for it for nearly two months.
Parent is back with more food. I hope there is enough for all.
Well Paula there is good news in that there was no baby in there that died trying to get out. But sad that another of our eaglets was lost.
Morning, Suz, Candy, Wanda and Jim!
GOOD MORNIN' EAGLE BUDDIES!!!---I have been reading the blog---Sounds like it has been fun!!!---STEVEN!!!!!!---I have decided---I WILL PAY YOU--(BIG BUCKS)--IF YOU WILL LET ME GO IN YOUR PLACE TO THESE COOL--COOL PLACES YOU HAVE TO GO!!!----WOW!!!---WHAT A JOB!!--ho! ho!----KIDDIN'--
Parent has a chick on each side. That is one way to break up an argument. It looks as if he is feeding each eaglet.
There was never an eaglet in the egg to lose. I think it's amazing that she layed an egg after that wild eagle showed up. After 13 years!
Morning, Paula and Normabyrd. Parent is now in Kent nest and feeding both eaglets! Guess after than ruckus this morning, they decided maybe the kids weren't quite ready to feed themselves, so they're giving them a hand! That was hilarious!
Good morning Normabyrd. Suzanne and I have been watching the two eaglets in Kent struddle over food. Now the parent is in there with more and seems to be feeding both.
We found 2 unhatched osprey eggs when we did the banding the other day. Greg said they could explode any moment, so he pitched them in the water. They were probably infertile, too.
A friend just called and asked me to go up to our Harbor pool, so guess I'll check out. Suzanne, you have a safe trip home today. Paula and Normabyrd, you both have a nice day and enjoy the birds. BBL
Yes, sad about the egg, but glad there was never an eagle to lose. Maybe now that she's laid one, next year she'll lay another. And maybe that one will be fertile!
Yup, Candy, good way to break up a fight and keep both kids happy! Guess they're back to being polite and taking turns with bites! Now maybe I'll go check the other cams I've been ignoring!
Candy, have a good time. We'll do this again tomorrow. Maybe by then the kids will have learned how to eat a little better.
Look at the intense concentration! parent showing kids how to tear the food!
HELLO SUZZANE--CANDY---JIM--WANDA--& PAULA!!!----Hey!!!---I am late logging on!-----But this place is jumping!!!---SUZANNE & CANDY are getting all the little mouths filled!!!----ho!--ho!---I always want to reach down & take the food from the "BIG ONE"---and yell "SHARE"---I have had my share of yelling SHARE to my own kids!---ho! ho!---
MOrning, NOrma!
Look at this guy. Sitting waiting patiently like little Miss Innocence! Poor little guy on right right is just waiting his turn.
I CAN'T believe those "polite" KENT EAGLETS are fussing!!!---Thought MOM came back to LECTURE---But I think she has a mouse???
CANDY---You would rather spend the afternoon "swimming" than watching the EAGLETS fight over food!!---ENJOY---ENJOY!!!----"wee bit green"----ho!
Norma, were you watching them earlier? It was a hoot!
Candy-if you want to come up on the 14th please do. We will make sure you get back to Winchester. Not sure what directions you have to Shep but there are fairly easy ways to get back to 81 from there. I live about 1/2 off the interstate, I would be happy to meet you somewhere and you can follow me or ride with me to Shep. Shep. is about 35 minutes from Winchester.
JUST read---MITS is keeping Little Maggie today!!---I am sure MITS will "love her well"----Give her my LOVE MITS!!!!
HI JILL!!---I AGREE it's an easy drive from WINCHESTER to SHEPHERDSTOWN!!!----If I can do it---ANYONE can!!---ho!---SO COME ON DOWN----CANDY!!!
Good M orning all, No I havent read the blog yet but I didnt want to miss you all before you took off to do your thing. I am leaving tonight for the family reunion. I will be back Monday and then Tues. morning I have oral surgery to fix a problem. I will miss you all but it will be worth it. I will check in if I have a computer available. Keep an eye on Mrs Blue Bird for me and the fledging kids. I feel I am leaving at the wrong time but it cant be helped.I will be here off and on today as I have work to finish in the office. May God be with you all and send you peace and love. Anne-Marie
YEAH SUZANNE!!---I was watching---but the "HALO" above Mr. Innocent kept blinding me!!!---THEY ARE A TRIP!!!!
Morning, Heidigirl! I hardly ever get to talk to you, I'm always gone by the time you come in. Have fun at your family reunion! And I'll be praying for you with your oral surgery. I went through that, it's not fun, but it sure is better after it's done! Well, I went through AN oral surgery, probably not yours! But I did like Norma suggested when you get your shots...pinch the heck out of your arm, and you won't feel a thing. And the bruises go away in a couple days...
Oh, sorry! Hi Jill!! Did you get some sleep?
SUZANNE---Did you see LISA'S pics of the FIN FAMILY!!!---That EGG is still there--(i think)!!!
LOL, they sure are, Norma. They have always been so nice and polite, but parents were always feeding them then! When they had to feed themselves this morning, no more mr nice guy. Wish I could put all the pics I have into a video, it would be hilarious!
Yes, Norma, I saw them. And yes, egg is still there. One of the chicks had his wing around it this morning. BTW, Finland pics went out a few minutes ago. Had to send 2 emails, and didn't even take that many pics today. Too busy watching "Kent, Lessons In Life" or "We Are No Longer Buddies If There Is Only 1 Piece of Food"
Have a great time at the reunion, Heidigirl - try to stay cool.
Hope the surgery helps! Good luck and speedy recovery!
Man oh Man! Just made it in under the noon time hour
Good morning - what did Candy say earlier - If you snooze you lose..lol
Not on this blog You know everything that went on and can feel every emotion felt.
ANNE-MARIE---I have missed you on the blog lately!!---But envy you----I think FAMILY REUNIONS are GREAT!!!----We don't have one any more---So few of us!!----I miss hearing "you look exactly like your Mother!"--- ho! ho!---So you have a SAFE JOURNEY ----& ENJOY--ENJOY!!---
Morning, Jo! Don't want anyone to feel left out!
Both parents in nest in Puget Sound! (Eagle nest.)
Man, didn't realize it was so late. Meant to ask, does anybody know how to get rid of cutworms? I have 1 tomato, and lots and lots of flowers, but when the flowers turn brown and the little tiny tomato starts, next day, it's cut off just a neat as a pin! I'm thinking cutworms, but I don't know how to get rid of them. Any ideas? Megan, R U around? Do you know?
Thanks for the pic, Suzanne..Our Liberty & Belle did come by late last evening for a visit! Added those pics also on the Momsters...
Our Eagles' Photos 6/20
MORNIN' JO!!!---I didn't get on very early either!!!---(long distant adult children)--ho!---Makes me feel needed though!!!--Beautiful SUNNY DAY in WV---temp. 81° now!!!----DID YOU READ---MITS is caring for "Little Maggie"---today!!----
May be a falcon on the ledge trying to take a nap. both parents were still in nest in Puget Sound. Kent eaglets are snoozing after all that excitement this morning.
And now it's time for me to hit the road. All have a great eagle day! Enjoy, and stay safe. Heidigirl have a great time at your reunion.
Outta here, eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Oh, if anyone knows how to get rid of these pesky cutworms, if that's what they are, write it here and I'll see it. Thanks! Ok, off to Starbucks for my daily fix...
SUZANNE----Ask WANDA!!---She has a big garden!!
SAFE JOURNEY HOME SUZANNE---"Love to GYPSY"------!!!
Candy said she would like to come up on the 14th but wasn't sure about the drive from Winc to Shep.
Yes Norma it is easy, I think the way you go is even easier that what mapquest gives you. Might take a few minutes longer but really easy. And there is always the interstate to my house. Don't expect to see you doing that anytime soon. LOL
JILL----"Ye of little faith"---I LIKE the Interstate better!!!---But this is the easiest way----People travel faster than set speed---Did you have to work on WV Day????
Thanks Suzanne I will pinch away. The bruises will be worth it. At my age I have so much money invested in my mouth its a shame to give up now. I've enjoyed watching the "kids: this morning. We had our first cool night last night in a long time. I was able to sleep with all the windows open.It was nice.
We have brown eagles and antelope on the ranch. No bald eagles though. Lots of jack rabbits and rattlers. I have seen a few white tailed deer. I used to play with the horned toads as a child. The state government offices of preservation were out to take pictures of some of the out buildings. Some are still standing that were used as a pony express stop. I used to play house in them. I remember one was used as a chicken coop when I was little. One night a cridder got in and killed most of the chicks. It was sad. It was the only time I saw my grandma cry. And yes Norma I too look like my mother. I hope I got some of her qualities and none of her faults.:)
DARN!!!---Never get to see the "ATLANA BEAUTY"----She is ALWAYS asleep on the top log!!!
How about that Steve spending the evening with the Little Prince and his mom and dad! Talk about having a job with a lot of fringe benefits - Steve has found it!
ANNE-MARIE---Where is your ranch--CA?----It sounds so INTERESTING!!---WOW!!!---that history!!---Is any of it listed on the National Registry??-----Have never seen a ranch---REALLY sounds like a GREAT place!!!
JO---I AGREE!!---Did you see I offered to pay him---(BIG TIME)--if he would let me do his job----But also AGREE with SUZZANE----STEVEN DOES IT SO WELL!!!!!
I was also checking for ButaButa! Thought she could be under the hammock.. Read the updates! She hates sweet potatoes! Ho Ho!
Anne you said you had organized this family reunion - it's got to be a successful weekend! You enjoy your family & we'll all pray for cooler weather! I also do as Norma does - pinch myself during Dental procedures or jab my nail into my fingers - less bruises.
I think I see our Little Prince outside walking near the building.
It is difficult to tell the 3 of them apart.. If Mits sometimes can't be sure by looking on the cam - I know I sure can't.
Yes! Little Maggie is happy today,I bet with Grammie taking care of her! I sure know that Mits is happy doing it.
It is a beautiful First Day of Summer
I am going for Brunch, lunch - something to eat! BBL
Sorry Norma, I thought you said you didn't like the interstate. My mistake. Should have known a spunky person like you wouldn't mind.
Yes I had to work WV Day. And NO, I didn't get holiday pay. (sore subject) LOL
Look quick. I think the princes is climbing the logs. First time I have seen her do anything but sleep.
NORFOLK NEST----MT----But the RICHMOND-HIGH RISE---FALCON is still on the nest----At least TWO egg shells in nest!!!---Reflection is bad on window!!!---She is BEAUTIFUL!!!
I'm going to pinch away.
The ranch is in Utah near the salt flats. It used to be much bigger but time has sold off many acres. It inbetween two ranges of mountains so it gets rain when other valleys dont. Has anyone ever had manure races and bisket tosses? Sounds primative I know and its even more fun to see business professionals get down and dirty like they did as kids on the ranch and play.Who said you cant go home again?
I think that might be daddy in the yard running. Not sure. I think I recognize little ones yard now. GEEZ Where is Mits when we need her? LOL
JILL---THANKS!!---She is proving she is the "QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE"!!!Love to watch those little "black legs"!!!----I thought she was going to fall on her little "rump"------ADORABLE!!!
ANNE-MARIE!!!---I hope pinching your arm w/your finger nails helps you!!!!----ho!----OH!---I think your ranch sounds like "PARADISE"!!!---Only if one is a guest!!--ho!----When you come back want to hear about the food you all served!!!---
ANNE-MARIE----I think I would go home as often as I could!!---SCENERY MUST BE AWESOME!!!
thanks Norma and Jo for the encouragement. I feel drained and I havent even been yet. Everything is falling into place. We are taking the 5th wheel as I am not roughing it. The house will be full and I would like my own space. What didnt bother me as a child does now. The ranch hands have cleared off a space for the RV's. We have turned out to be such a sissy bunch. I'm sure they are laughing at us.
Oh by the way my mocking bird out side my office has decided to try another nest after the crows distroyed it. Its in the same place. Either she thinks they wont remember or she isnt too smart. I will find out when I get back if its still there.
Oh Norma I am so glad you are going to your School reunion. I was such a ninny and didnt go to mine.
HEIDIGIRL--
I will take pics. of MRS. B's eggs hatching if it happens this weekend.
Have a wonderful trip. Travel mercies being said for you.
thank you costume lady. That will help.
HI NORMA & JILL
Norma, where is your Class Reunion?
WOW!!---Watching the Little Prince---He is scratching alot!!!---Bet he is "EXTRA WARM"----Has he had his fruitcicle yet?
ANNE-MARIE---My school has a RENUION every year for everyone!!!
It's GREAT this way----When I first started going---there were still members of my parent's class attending!!---Each class celebrates their special year after the school reunion------WANDA my school is in Grantsville, WV---located on the other side of the state on OHIO border!!
WANDA---Did you see the note that SUZANNE wants to know about CUT WORMS?----She wants to know how to get rid of them---
NEED FOOD!!---Later!!
BW nest has an adult and an eaglet..
Must be a rest break after all the tiring fishing lessons this morning.
Mrs B on her eggs! All 5 are there as I saw them when she was off.
I am heading to Hagerstown in about an hour - Meeting my soon to be new Grand Daughter in law to go shopping.
Anne - how was the b-day dinner the other evening with your grand daughter? I do agree these kids keep us young!
I am planning to attend my 50th HS reunion this August. I so wish I could find a red dress and bedazzle everyone BUT I'm not that naive.
Take it as you see it - I say! I just want to see some of my dear friends.
When you attend reunions you tend to float back in time... ho ho! I can get air sickness doing so.....
Norma, I have used foil around new plants I have set out to discourage cut worms. It works. No pesticides. They either move or die . I dont know which one.
Mema Jo I will send you my red dress any time. I'll even do your hair and makeup. And the dinner was nice. She was tickled with her gifts and the food was good.I didnt get home until after 9:00 and after a day at work I was beat. The old girl just cant do it anymore.
Time to leave - Talk to you all later
LUN LUN woke the "ATLANTA BEAUTY"-----pulled her down with her mouth & now MEI is nursing!!---WOW!---I bet that isn't easy for LUN LUN--MEI has "TEETH"!!!!
They have one of the panda's in a cage thing, looks like they are playing some kind of game
JO---Read your letter from BIRD GIRL & meant to tell you that I had several "GREEN HERONS" in the trees above my house---Would sit in the lawn & watch them---When they take off----their neck stretches way out!!!---Friends kept saying I was too far from the creek---THEY WERE HERONS!--Would ROOST in the trees by the house---Beautiful birds---looked more brown than green from a distance----Haven't seen them for about 4 yrs.
THANKS JILL!!!---DC ZOO?
One of the Pandas has a ball and it playing with it. Its so cute
He has it above his head like he is trying to make a basket.
I think the ball had something in it, a treat of some sort. He kept licking it. Mei got up from her day long nap long enough to chew a piece of bamboo.
Norma-Did you have a storm today? Getting dark here now.
JILL---That's TAI in the room eating bamboo----All the pandas go through this lab of sorts, where each is examined---TAI also goes through--- he is weighed--checked, etc.-----He sticks out arm for exam., just like the others ----They teach them to go through this exam at an early age----Will have to check with DR. MITS---
JILL---I misunderstood---I thought you said they were going through this cage----That's what I thought he was doing!!-----I knew that was TAI in the room eating bamboo!---I can tell him from behind--(he is the only one with a white behind)--ho!----ANNE-MARIE---I refer to him as the "Little Prince"---I LOVE HIM!!---He is such a little imp!!-----used to always put on an act in front of the children!!!
NO JILL---No rain as yet!---nice weather today---no humidity---
TWO NEW FALCON "FLUFF BALLS" in the RICHMOND-HIGH RISE nest---They are ADORABLE!!!----Don't know how many eggs she has---but I think I see at least 1 more!!!
Raining in Frederick now. See ya later.
Oh Norma he is such a ham. I have got to get some work done or I will be here late tonight. back later
No Norma they had one of them in some kind of thing that looked like a dog run only bigger. Yes Tai has a whiter butt and his eyes are different than the other two but you have to looking really close to see them.
Had a good storm here, gone now.
I was reading this a.m. about having to sign back in every few mins.--ho!---It seemed that it was always happening to me----I THOUGHT IT ONLY HAPPENED TO ME!!! (poor soul)---But I guess everyone is going through that!!!----JILL---I can't tell TAI by his eyes---His face has gotten so much fuller!!!
See 1 OSPREY at BW---
WOW!!!---Those CA BARN OWLS are getting larger!!!----I don't see how they can move in that small space!!
OH JILL!!----Your storm just reached us----THANKS!!
KENT EAGLETS---snoozing!!---MOM is on "WATCH"!!!
Hey Norma, I think you sent the storm back this way. Raining and thunder now.
Look at the picture of Tai on site, the one on the panda book. I can't decribe his eyes, they kind of curve in on both sides, not like Tian that only curve on one side. Mei has ovals. But from a distance it is still hard to tell.
Good By all, Hugs..
JILL---STORM is still here!!!!!---Just blew electric off & back on!!-----Watching the CONN OSPREY CHICKS---You can see all the color in their feathers!!----Cute!!!!
ANNE-MARIE----BYE---SAFE TRIP HOME!!
JILL---I know!!----Have you ever---in your life-- seen anything as "ADORABLE" as that little face on the PANDA BOOK!!!---
Did you see him yesterday when he appeared to be stuck in the tree? It was hilarious. He was upside down for a while then got upright. Got out of the tree, and looked back as if to say "why did you do that to me?" Walked about 3 steps turned around and went back up the tree.
And yesterday Little Princess slapped at her mother when she tried to get her down off the logs. They are so fun.
JILL---Have you seen the Panda video that shows the panda at birth, etc.---Send me you email & I will forward it to you!!!---
normac@atlanticbb.net
JO!!---Way back---some time today---I told you about having the GREEN HERONS!!!
Must fix FOOD!!
WOW!!! just finished reading the days' blogs...STEVEN, I'M GOING TO SLAP YOU SILLY FOR NOT LETTING ME KNOW YOU WERE COMING TO THE ZOO I always sit with the cam operator after my shift for awile. I would have stayed longer if I knew you were coming. JILL the shoot you saw them in today leads them to the different yards. NORMA You were correct in your explanation of the training for Tai. All of the animals need to have training so that it is easier to do medical procedures on them.
WELCOME BACK MITS!!!----How is "Little Maggie"??----I hope you kissed her & made her all better!!!
MISSED you today!!---Shame you didn't get to hang out with STEVEN & the Pandas!!!---Would have been GREAT!!!
Norma I have watched all the videos of both the Atlanta Pandas and the DC Pandas. (JZtaxi@aol.com)
Mits when I was watching there was somebody outside the chute dumping something on the ground and pushing in under the chute. Looked like a girl with jeans and white shoes. Couldn't see much else or which panda it was.
Jo the panda sneezing was adorable.
good night everyone, Maggie is doing a little better, hopefully good as new in a few days
GOOD EVENING, EAGLE LOVERS...
I just got home after doing some meds and some grocery shopping at Albertsons-SavOn. Haven't read the comments yet, but I wanted to say "hi" before everybody back East falls asleep.
Jim
Hi Jim
Good Night Mits
I am almost ready to call it a day -
longest day of the year it's been...
How are you, Mema Jo?
I was just reading the biologists reports for the week on Catalina and Santa Clara..
Very interesting shots of eaglets that are fledging or about to fledge, and much, much more.
Jim
I had forgotten they always put a new IWS report up on Wed.. I'll need to read up on it.
Did you see that the West End cam is down and they will be posting pics from time to time until the three fledge, at least?
JIm
Did you see Steph's pics of the ones that have fledged.. The link is in the first comment under todays discussions.
I knew I shouldn't have gone over there so late night - I really enjoyed reading all there comments..
SO - I am headed for bed.
Good Night Jim and everyone
Peace be with you and yours
Jim, I know you and Suzanne and many more are thankful that Friday is coming tomorrow... We have had a good bit of rain here this evening. I just hope Megan has had just as much if not more! Nite!
A VERY GOOD NIGHT/FABULOUS FRIDAY MORNING TO ALL THE GREAT FOLKS IN EAGLE LAND....
I hope you have a very interesting weekend and enjoy the break to the max.
Jim
Good Friday morning, eagle world! YEAH, we made it. Can sleep in tomorrow!!! At least past 0040 in the morning, and my last cat goes to the vet for her annual exam and shots! YEAH again. (But she's gonna be a major challenge.) But then next weekend I can get my haircut. YEAH again, look like a shaggy dog! Don't mind shaggy dogs, just not a look for me.
Nice night out, 63° at my house, 69° here. Had some rain last night, hard and heavy for all of about 5 or 10 minutes, then it quit, so roads are mostly dry. Hope Megan got some of it, even though we didn't get much. Means I'll have to water when I go home this afternoon.
Great pic on our cam, so hope Liberty and Belle stop by this morning. Stork kids are eating, as are Finland babies being fed. I see that egg is still there. This egg is gonna be like the Puget Sound egg. Live forever, just won't hatch! Benicia nestbox MT, Mrs B on eggs, dark in PA, but you can see a falcon on the corner of the ledge. There is something on the ground that has a light, and you can see a shadow. That's my early AM Friday report. Dark elsewhere.
All have a great eagle day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
AND HAPPY FRIDAY ALL!!
Right on schedule, EAGLE ALERT!!!!
Ok, moving around nest, but very hard to see with the light on the leaves. But still there, head down, tail clearly visible. Ok, refresh, now both head and tail visible.
Now she's facing 5, can see her pretty clearly. I'm thinking it's Belle, but only guessing.
Think Lib just arrived, both in nest now.
Yup, both there!
She's in the nest.
DANG!!! I have a sign on my forhead this morning that says I need to talk! Everyone wants to talk this morning.
Believe it or not, Lib and Belle are still there. Getting daylight, and an awesome pic!
OMG, knew it was too good to be true! Here comes spidey, top right corner. Lib and Belle are so pretty through the leaves!
Oh, he went away, thank you, Lord!
Hey Suzanne. First time in weeks I got to see Lib and Belle. Now I need to go out and talk to the strays in the neighborhood about manners when people are sleeping. LOL. My dogs keeps jumping up and barking, like they are actually going to go out after them.
Good morning to the rest of you. BBL
Uh oh, looks like Lib on launch pad getting ready to go. Belle still by tree, watching Lib.
Yup, there he went, and she's watching.
She's still there, but hanging out by the launch pad too...and the tree.
Morning, Jill! Glad you got to see Liberty and Belle. Belle is still there. Neat pic through the leaves, isn't it?
Belle still there, just looking around. Maybe Lib is gonna come back..with breakfast!
She is just so pretty! Love this pic with the leaves!
Osprey in BW nest, side of nest.
Belle still there.
PA falcon ledge MT.
BW eagle MT.
Belle still there.
Barn owl MT.
Oh, Belle now has her head down looking at the launch pad.
Back up again, by tree, facing 7 direction.
Facing other direction now, your right.
Now she's moved over by the tree, is looking towards one.
But if she gets much closer to the tree, we won't be able to see her.
Never mind, she's now standing at 7 looking out.
Poof, gone. Don't think I've seen her take off from that side for quite a while.
BRB
Back. Our nest MT, BW eagle MT, 1 osprey in BW, one falcon on corner in sunrise, looks beautiful. Storks are all taking a nap, parent watching, Mrs. B on her eggs, Benicia owls must have all fledged, still MT. Finland chicks are awake and sitting up in the shadown of parent. Well, take that back. By the time I typed that, heads went back down, so now they're napping.
Liberty and Belle pics just went out. Check out spidey peeking in at 0539. Sure glad he just peeked, and didn't hang around!
GOOD MOTNING SUZ--
You asked about Cut Worms on your tomatoes yesterday. Are you sure they are Cut Worms? It sounds like a Horn Worm. For Cut Worms, put insecticide on the ground around base of plant. For Horn Worm; spray plants or just pull worm off of plant. They are very hard to see because they blend in so well with the plant.(Sending pic of worm)
Thanks, Wanda! I'm not sure they are cutworms, I've never seen them, but after the tomato flower dies, and the little tiny tomato starts, that part of the plant is totally sheared off. You couldn't cut it off better or straighter with a razor! That's what made me think it was cutworms. But yesterday I had to stop for bird seed (again!), and I asked at the hardware store for something. They gave me a spray bottle of "Sevn"???? Not sure that's right, but it's pronounced seven. I sprayed that yesterday on the flowers and leaves. Course, that was before the heavy rain we had for almost 10 minutes, so I imagine I'll have to spray again this afternoon. I wanted somthing organic, not a poison type thing, but the guys at the hardware store couldn't tell me anything to use. So, we'll try this stuff.
Wow, I would have never seen those horn worms, thanks for the pic. I'll have to look this afternoon! Thanks for the response. Haven't had time to go back and read any of the blogs after I left yesterday.
Kent eagles are awake and doing wing flaps. Wonder what adventures await us today, at this nest?
NEW THREAD!!!---You all COME OVER!!
Wing flap practice! And they're both looking around the nest for scraps of leftovers.
