GOOD MORNIN' EAGLE BUDDIES!!!---THANKS STEVEN FOR THE NEW THREAD!!----If you can't make the meeting---I'll be happy to stand in for you!! KIDDIN'---VERY PROUD OF YOU!!--YOU REPRESENTS US WELL---I am be # 1!!
Thanks for the new thread, Steven. Have fun down here. Personally, I think it sucks, but it does pay the bills. At least you can return to your job in a really nice area! Cam is awesome, today! Love the way the leaves frame the nest. Thanks for the heads up, Normabyrd, and good morning to you!
Awwwww, I read it, but it's so sad to see...no companion egg for the eaglet in Puget Sound. Now he really is alone, poor thing. Grooming now, though. But with no siblings, how's he gonna learn how to steal food?
2 falcons on ledge, one eating in PA. Wow, wing flaps in Puget Sound!! Storks are snoozing, osprey still in BW, BW eagle MT, our cam MT, but going in and out now, finland chicks just got fed yet again, there were 4 owls in Benicia, but now only see 3, and Mrs B on her eggs. That's exciting, think they should start hatching tomorrow and/or Sunday! You guys need to take pics!
HELLO SUZANNE & WANDA----I remember what you said SUZANNE---STEVEN REPRESENTS US SO WELL!!!---SO TRUE!---(does get some nice trips)--ho!---WANDA & SUZANNE--read your all discussion on the cut worm this a.m.---1 more remedy---Yesterday HEIDIGIRL says "She has used foil around new plants I have set out to discourage cut worms. It works. No pesticides. They either move or die. I don't know which one!"---Being the nice person, that I am--ho!---I looked her remedy up on yesterday's blog---to save you time!!!!----
Norma, thank you so much! You didn't have to do that. But that's what I was looking for, a way to get rid of them without using poison! I'll try the aluminum foil, maybe that will help. But I'm also gonna look for those dagger worms too, or whatever they are called. Looks like they have little daggers on their sides! Anyway, I printed the picture Wanda sent, so I know what to look for!
THANKS for the update on PA FALCONS!---I thought some one said they had closed the cam!!!----If you check the RICHMOND-HIGH RISE---2 new 'FLUFF BALLS' born yesterday!!---It's such a delight to see new birds being born----Pretty soon we will be suffering from the EMPTY NEST SYNDROM---(sp)?
WHOA-----SUZANNE!!!---Those WORMS don't know the "WORM KILLER" is on the prowl---& SHE IS OUT TO KILL!!! Now that is---as you say---TOO FUNNY!!---Isn't that right WANDA!!!
LOL, Norma, these worms, or something, get my tomatoes every year! About half of the flowers actually get to turn into tomatoes! This year, I want ALL my tomatoes!!! I'm gonna be like those Kent eaglets...not gonna share my tomatoes-to-be with worms!!!
NORMA-- I think you just gave Suz a new nickname--WORM KILLER.
SUZ-- My hubby said he uses Sevin on our garden. It works best for our area and our insects. We try not to get it in the area where the Lady Bugs hang out.
Oh, thanks Wanda. They told me Sevin was the best thing to use too. Finland chicks are alone, and they've not liking it! They are just squaking! Mouths WIDE open.
Awww, that's so sad. EJ and Henry tried so hard! Well, at least EJ did, I'm sure those 2 clutches took a lot out of here! Maybe next year, after migration, Henry will be back on time!!!!
Good Morning All, It is great to be back at work today. I have been in 4-H Camp since Sunday with 300 little 9 and 10 year old trolls. They tried to kill Mauley. Just kidding. Most really need affection and attention so badly. For a week I got to make the 14 in my cabin my little Princesses. I got up yesterday morning, went to shower house, washed and dried my hair, went back to cabin thinking it was unusually dark for 6:00 am, looked a the clock and it was 3:00 am, and couldn't go back to sleep, needless to say, no body had to rock me to sleep last night. It is good to be back to civilization, but don't know how many more summers Mauley can take it at age 57. I am sure everyone will agree that Suzanne's pictures this am are prize-winners. God Bless you all today. Donna
MORNIN' MAULEY!!----We have missed you---"YOU WILL HAVE AN EXTRA GOLD STAR IN YOUR CROWN"---I bet the girls really ENJOYED having you as a counselor!!---HEY MAULEY!!!---You are still just a "kid"!!!---& a COOL ONE too!!!!
THE STORKS are mixing it up this a.m.!!!!---1 CHICK in middle of nest attempting to get some "shut eye"----1 other CHICK keeps flapping his wings & punching him with his bill to get him up-----MOM STORK is ignoring the whole show!!!---Favorite site of mine!!!!
Norma, that was me a couple days ago that said they closed the PA cam. They had a pic on there of 2 falcons on the ledge, and the same pic was there for 2 days, so I thought they turned off the cam since they all fledged. But then checked the next day, and it was back on. Hope they keep it on for a while, at least till the kids stop visiting! It's fun to see them and know they're alright!
They are a trip, aren't they? Puget Sound has had a meal delivered, parent left, he's eating. He's eating the WHOLE thing...nobody gonna steal his food! There are 4 owls in Benicia.
WOW!!!---That 1 CHICK is right beside STAR---The other one seems so shy!---I have learned---in the BIRD WORLD---if you are shy----YOU WILL STARVE TO DEATH!!!--He needs to figure that out soon!!!!
Falcon on ledge in the shade. Sunrise in PUget Sound! I do not see the eaglet!!! Wonde3r if he's on a branch somewhere. He sure was flapping this morning! 4 owls in Benicia, stork kids hanging out, mom grooming. Both BW cams and our cam MT. Spirit still defeathering, but eaglets watching closely! They're gonna learn something, this time.
Agree, Norma. That's the little one, think he's a boy, and the big one is a girl. At least going from what Lisa tells us, since the big one I presume is first hatched. But he's paying attention now...kinda. Lots of feathers to soften the nest, now.
CO CAM showing 2 EAGLETS in the nest!!!---They have grown too!!---I think this cam was down for a while----OSPREY cam on same site shows an OSPREY with a large meal!! ho!---But the OSPREY site seems to be in MN----Hope I haven't confused every one!!!
Spirit was supervising the eating, now he's in the tree. The little one, the male, is eating, female watching. Bear in mind I'm guessing on the sexes, but I'm thinking the big one is a girl and the little one is a boy. It's easier for me to type him and her rather than big one little one.
God morning Suzanne, Norma, Wanda, Mits, Mauley... and sleepyheads :)
Looks and feels like it is going to be a beautful day under 80, breezy and dry. Enjoy it as it will be in the 90's next week and a very hot 90's too!
Suzanne I had a chance to see the Benicia owls, I counted 3 females, I bet No. 4 is a boy.
I'm finally out of school for the next 2 plus weeks but my best friend will be moving back east this weekend so I fear I will miss many of the fledgings :(. I'm counting on you all to keep me updated :).
CNN just reported---A STUDY shows the FIRST BORN is more intelligent than the other children in the family---But if a 2nd or 3rd is raised as the 1st born---that child will also be more intelligent!!---That's what we have been noticing in the BIRD WORLD----(this study only covered males!!!-----(guess who is 1st born in my family)---YOU GOT IT'-
Morning, Jim! You have a nice weekend too. No Norma, didn't see him bring food, thought maybe they were all gonna chow down on that chicken. And I no sooner typed that, when both adults moved to the tree. Chicks watched them. They're still there, chicks are taking a nap. Don't see anything left of the chicken but a lot of feathers!
Suzanne by the time I got to KENT, chicken was almost history....Norma, don't know when I will be going back to beach, it is a wonderful place, and we are lucky to have it.
Mits, I'll send you a pic. Thing was huge! We have a new cam view in PA. You can see all the way up to the river. Maybe we can catch them flying around with this view! That would be cool.
Norma, I think little man is outside hanging upside down in the tree. Probably Mei asleep, that seems to be all she does anymore. Getting ready for that little one.
Well, we also have a view of the nest box back again... Maybe they're changing cam views to try and give us the opportunity to see them when they come back to visit. Mits, I sent you pics of the chicken, but I'm having email problems. Can't open any mail, tells me I'm not connected to the server, so not sure if/when you'll get it. As usual, a denial of service from the network staff! Geesh.
SUZANNE, GOT THE PICS. You are correct, some famer is not going to be happy!!!. Wanda, even with all the knowledge they have, most likely they will not know if Mei is really pregnant til the cub arrives, because this could be a false pregnancy and she would show all the same signs til it happens or does not happen.
Look at our nest, you can see just the center of it through the leaves. Looks kinda neat, though. 2 Falcons on ledge in shade. Both BW cams MT. Haven't seen an eaglet all day, that's a bit unusual. Only 1 osprey earlier, and when he/she left, nobody else has arrived. Kent kids are sleeping off their chicken breakfast, parent in tree keepin an eye out. Storks are getting tall, they're standing around. Mrs B back on her 5 eggs, and still 4 owls in Benicia. The kids are so big now, can't tell if that's mom and babies, or all babies. Puget Sound eagle is laying down, but looking around. Mrs Finland is standing over snoozing chicks. They are also getting big very quickly. It amazes me how fast these birds grow!
WHAT did I miss?----my youngest still needs advice from MOM---Does make me feel needed---ho!---Some times I think that's why she calls--ho!---DO LOVE HER!!!
Have you ever seen a blackbird feed their young? They eat seeds, so the parent fills his/her mouth (only have seen the male collect food, guess mom was on the babies), and he fills his mouth with seeds one after the other. When they start poking out of the side of his bill, he's off. Watched this until they fledged, then parents brought them to my buffet. Of course, more mouths to feed, not that I wasn't feeding them anyway. But when the young first came, they would stand either in the seed trays, or by the suet feeders and keep their mouth open. Beak would go down into seeds or suet, but mouth would stay open. Guess they're waiting for the seeds and suet to jump on in. That was too cute. They're not my favorite bird, but it was cute to watch them. They have since learned to open mouth, insert food, close mouth. Course they can't do that the very second they see a parent...then they flap the wings, and cry to be fed, with mouths wide open. Sometimes parent will feed them, sometimes not. But when parent goes, or is not looking, they can feed themselves now just fine, thank you very much. Too funny!
SUZANNE---Educate me about the OWLS---how do they decide when they are ready to fledge---Wouldn't they need to be outside the box first???---We have seen them attempting to fly in the box-----
I only get upset with 1 bird---the BLUE JAY!!----They are a beautiful bird---but they will take the food out of the feeder & just drop it!!! I guess I can learn to love them!! ho!
Norma, Robyn is the owl expert. Not sure how they decide they are ready to fledge, and don't know how old they usually are when they fledge. I don't like bluejays either, they're noisy and pushy! I have a some seeds in a suet feeder (kinda glued together, or whatever they are), and the jays love it. But if they drop seeds out of there, it falls into a tray feeder I have under it, and the jays get down to eat whatever fell. But when they do that, they scare the other birds out of the feeder! Pushy birds!
Yesterday I was reading comments on IWS---Those EAGLETS are fledging like crazy---seems all at once!!---I like to watch #63 at SC-----all alone on that MT.---I want him to SOAR HIGH!!!--I think I bonded with him-- ho!---when they tried to cover his head & he fought so hard for it not to happen!!!---My kinda EAGLE!!
Mits- It's mid July when we will either have a baby or not right? She is adorable now, laid out over the rock inside. Looks like she got drunk and just fell there. Tai was up in the window, greeting his fans.
SUZANNE---Never thought of using a tray----Might try that!!!!--Will try to track ROBYN down---I think those OWLETS look like OWLS--ho!--But I will really miss them---
HI JILL---When TAI was young--he used to sleep on one of those rocks & it looked like he was going to fall & get killed!!---USED to drive NILLA crazy!!!---She never did get used to it---More important---he never fell!!!
The smallest Kent eaglet has something over his back. Well, he did, I think, don't see it now. Looked like a piece of wire or stick or something. Never mind, he's scratching and I don't see it now! Time for me to hit the road. All have a great weekend. If the bluebird eggs hatch, Wanda, take lots of pics! That will be so cool! All have a great day too, not just the weekend. Prayers for everyone to stay healthy and safe. Safe travels to all. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Norma, I use seed trays that hang on a very large thingy, that's actually supposed to be for flowers, but I have seed trays instead of flowers. They're made out of wood, and the bottom is screen material. They're nice, but the big birds have no problems getting to the seed! I have finch feeders in front of my house, and they're way too small for big birds. Only get the finches! They're beautiful to watch. Ok, outta here for real.
I have so many SQUIRRELS!!---They can empty a feeder almost as fast as you can fill it!!---Have tried every thing!!---It is kinda funny to watch----In the fall--after you fill the feeders---You can actually see them coming across the trees tor the lawn----FEEDING TIME AT NORMAS--(that part i made up)!!
JILL---One of the funnest things the "Little Prince" has done----He used to climb trees all the time & go to sleep!!----It was time for him to come inside---He was way up in the tree---& WOULD NOT COME DOWN!!!----Kept calling--NOT coming down---I think close to midnight & they were putting all his favorite foods on a stick---trying to entice the little IMP!!---FINALLY HE CAME DOWN---One of the ZOO HELPERS carried the LITTLE BABY over to his MOMMA waiting at the door!!!---He would kiss her & she would kiss him!!!---It almost made you want to cry!!!---MITS can fill in anything I left out!!!
Thanks for asking about "our Maggie", everyone. She had a not so good night, parents took her to the hospital with 105 temp. All tests came back fine, said it is now a viral infection, but with her com-premised immune system it is really a scary thing. Please keep her in your prayers, like I know you all will:).
Got that on the prayers for Maggie and family Mits "sending them on their way". Now I know why I was to read todays blog. ((((((Mits & Maggie & Mom & Dad))))))
Good Afternoon Everyone Early morning appointment kept me away.. Just watched the 2 videos of Paula's - What a day that must have been All biologist must have a wide brimmed hat like that! lol
PINK DOG!!!---Oh it is just WONDERFUL to see you again DANA!!!Still have you in my prayers & hope you are getting rid of some of that PAIN!!----HAVE MISSED YOU VERY MUCH!!!
Poor little Maggie. Hope she is back to herself soon. Sick kids are no fun. Give her a big hug for us MITS.
Just got back on after spending part of the afternoon on the phone with AT&T. 30 minutes for them to figure out what I told them in the first place. MY PHONE ISN"T WORKING. Gotta love tech support.
Somebody at DC has a popsicle. Looks pretty good too. Looks like Tian is eating bamboo. HUMMM. Wonder where Mei might be??????? Or should I say where is she sleeping now?
Suzanne NO lol I am not an owl expert but aren't they beautiful. I have to admit when they are small they are so ugly they're cute.
Norma, Suzanne, my bluejays have been very good about their eating habits. They drop the seeds then join them to eat them up. I have seen on two occassions my male cardinal visitor being chased off physically by a male towhee.
Squirrels on the other hand dive me insane and it doesn't take much to get me there these days :), they garvone all the seeds and make a mess of my birdfeeders even broke a few of them over the years...
OK KIDS!!!!---I can tell a PINK CAT from PINK DOG!!!---Just wanted to see if you all WERE PAYING ATTENTION!!!!----ho! ho!---I have had a "nap" & I am ready to ROLL!!---WAS wondering if ANNE-MARIE has started her journey to UTAH!!!---Wishing her a SAFE TRIP!!---MITS!--I hope "LITTLE MATTIE" feels better soon!!---Give her my LOVE!! Going to DINNER this evening---LATER!!
It's late, and it looks like you've all gone to bed. Just got home from NCTC, and I didn't see any eagles in the air. :-( The monitor is turned off in the lobby. Have a great weekend, everyone!
Good morning Jim and all in eagleland! You guessed it, I couldn't sleep. So here I am. Just checked in on the storks in Germany. They are up and moving. I can hear, but not see the owls. Mama osprey in Finland is busy taking care of her chicks. Ms. B is still sitting on her eggs. I'm waiting to see how many there are. Time will tell.
Richmond ospreys are up and are they ever cute. One is already trying out his wings. Bs. B is still on her eggs; hasn't gotten off yet, so don't know if any have hatched yet.
Finland osprey is sitting in front of her chicks so you can't see them. Storks in Germany are still up and moving around. Can't seem to get the Kestrel yet; screen is black.
GOOD MORNING CANDY-- What a pleasant surprise to find you on here this morning. Glad you got to see our pair. Once again, I got up too late to see them.--I guess "THE EARLY WORM GETS THE BIRD". Going to get my coffee now. BBL
Good morning Wanda! Didn't see much of a visit, and kept on watching, but that short visit was all I say. Just checked in to find the owl or owls back in their box. I might see two now.
The two little fuzzy osprey chicks in Richmond have settled down now that a parent has joined them in the nest. This nest has sound, like the owl cam. I can hear an osprey calling in the background.
Parent is still with chicks in Finland. One lone osprey is now on BW nest; no eagles tho. Can't seem to get Norfolk yet. Sad to hear about the Scotland egg. Hopefully next year will be a super one for all our feathered friends.
Well, there they are. I didn't scroll down far enough to get the NY Kestrels. All three babies are lined up facing the wall of the box; like maybe they are being punished. :)
These three Kestrels must be another clip, as I was watching 4 tiny new borns the other day. I'll have to check later. There are only 3 that I am getting and they are bigger chicks.
Sunrise in Kent--babes are looking around for breakfast. Don't see parents; must be out shopping for breakfast. Mrs. Fin just standing looking at babies and all around as if waiting for Mr. Fin to bring a snack. Mrs. B still on eggs.
I see 4 CA Barn Owls--one is almost turning itself inside out grooming. S.C. #63 is rearrange the nest or eating something (I can't tell for sure). 1 Osprey in BW nest looking pretty. Tai is on a log looking for something to get into. Nobody home in our nest. Mrs. B is off her nest--No hatchings yet.

Check out the gigantic chicken in Kent!!!!!
Parent sure is crowing about that catch!!! Just a squaking. Ok, that was Spirit, and now he's gonna eat.
Chicken is about half the size of the eaglets.
The eaglets are sure paying attention now to how dad is getting this ready to eat!!
Step one, remove feathers...
Wow, he's sure doing that in a hurry!! Must be calling for Star to come and give him a hand!

Norma my fav cam is the Va eagles but they are hardly home these dys so I watch the Kent nest which I have before they hatched.
Geesh.
GOOD MORNING JILL & ROBYANN--
Does anyone know if Mei is pregnant for sure or will they not know until the baby is born?
Mrs Finland is laying on the chicks. Has her mouth open, so she's warm, but haven't seen her actually laying on the chicks for a couple days.
Ok, Mits! Glad you got them. Still can't open my mail, but it appears I can send it.
2 falcons napping in the shade. Check out that view!
OH, Mrs B off eggs. Still 5. They should start hatching tomorrow, how exciting!!!
Robyn, 4 owls in Benicia. Guess they're in for the night, now.
Too funny!
Welcome back, Norma! Kids always need their mom, but nice of her to admit it!
SUZANNE---Educate me about the OWLS---how do they decide when they are ready to fledge---Wouldn't they need to be outside the box first???---We have seen them attempting to fly in the box-----
Mits, how's Maggie? Better today?
JILL, That is the current estimated time right now.
SUZANNE---Forgot to tell you what a GREAT PIC STEVEN used this a.m.!!!----Thanks for sending a pic of our FAVORITE EAGLES!!!!
I got my Osprey banding videos done and on the blog! Pictures soon!
Eagletmomsters.blogspot.com
Norma, I use seed trays that hang on a very large thingy, that's actually supposed to be for flowers, but I have seed trays instead of flowers. They're made out of wood, and the bottom is screen material. They're nice, but the big birds have no problems getting to the seed! I have finch feeders in front of my house, and they're way too small for big birds. Only get the finches! They're beautiful to watch.
Ok, outta here for real.
WONDER what the temp is at the FINLAND site---MS. FIN seems to be panting a lot!!!
SAFE TRIP HOME SUZANNE & HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!----Don't be too ROUGH on the poor little WORMS!!!
BTW, our infamous Lisa from BW is in the second video :)
You did a great job, Norma. They are great memories of Mei and Tai.
HI PAULA---I am sorry---I have been so "CHATTY" I didn't see your first post!!---Thanks---W/check it out!!!
THANKS MITS---I still remember how LOVING he & his MOM were when he finally came down!!!--LITTLE IMP!!
Morning Mits and Jill.
Mits, is Maggie feeling better?
wonderful video, PAULA
Thanks for asking about "our Maggie", everyone. She had a not so good night, parents took her to the hospital with 105 temp. All tests came back fine, said it is now a viral infection, but with her com-premised immune system it is really a scary thing. Please keep her in your prayers, like I know you all will:).
Got that on the prayers for Maggie and family Mits "sending them on their way".
Now I know why I was to read todays blog. ((((((Mits & Maggie & Mom & Dad))))))
THANKS ALOT, DANA, GLAD YOU SAW IT! How is everything going on your end?

Norma Oh Great First Born - what's with the Pink Dog and the Lisa for Paula???? lol lol
Hi Dana I am very grateful for each message you send our way on the blog... it just lets us know that you are there with us.
Off to check the cams.
lol, Norma, babe, you got to get your act together....Thanks, Jill, will do.
It's that thin air in the mountains messing with Norma. She will be fine when she gets downs closer to sea level. LOL
Mmmm...wonder if the bubble wrap chick "got" the cam....
She may have had tee many martunis with lunch :)
2 eaglets in VA, one is eating in the nest.
Now 3 in VA
From the looks of it Paula might have had too many somethings too. LOL.
Just checking back in. Can't do anything by phone today so I will just have to goof on online all day. DARN
Nice closeup of fledglings on the branch at VA
A lone osprey has been on the osprey cam for awhile in the right corner closest to the cam

Peaceful sleep & pleasant dreams
Prayers being said for all
HOPE YOU HAD A HAPPY HAPPY B-DAY
ANDREW
It's late, and it looks like you've all gone to bed. Just got home from NCTC, and I didn't see any eagles in the air. :-( The monitor is turned off in the lobby.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Good night everyone. Not sure anybody is left. I will be gone most of tomorrow, will try to check in late in the day.
GOOD NIGHT/GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY.
Sorry I didn't get a chance to comment while the East was still awake, but there's always tomorrow.
Jim
Good morning Jim and all in eagleland! You guessed it, I couldn't sleep. So here I am. Just checked in on the storks in Germany. They are up and moving.
I can hear, but not see the owls.
Mama osprey in Finland is busy taking care of her chicks.
Ms. B is still sitting on her eggs. I'm waiting to see how many there are. Time will tell.
I am just waiting to see if our Liberty and Belle show up this morning.
Guess I'll check my email. BB
We have eagles in our nest.
I think that it is both of them, as I can see two white heads;one at six and the other at three
Now I only see one head at 6
Looks like eagle his under leaf or is gone.
Can't see anymore eagle. That was a short visit. Maybe they will be back.
Richmond ospreys are up and are they ever cute. One is already trying out his wings. Bs. B is still on her eggs; hasn't gotten off yet, so don't know if any have hatched yet.
Our eagle nest is just beautiful with the leaves surrounding it. Too bad there isn't an eagle in it. :(
Finland osprey is sitting in front of her chicks so you can't see them. Storks in Germany are still up and moving around. Can't seem to get the Kestrel yet; screen is black.
GOOD MORNING CANDY--
What a pleasant surprise to find you on here this morning.
Glad you got to see our pair.
Once again, I got up too late to see them.--I guess "THE EARLY WORM GETS THE BIRD".
Going to get my coffee now. BBL
One owl back in nest. He is doing a lot of talking. Maybe he is calling to his siblings to come on in for some shut eye.
Good morning Wanda! Didn't see much of a visit, and kept on watching, but that short visit was all I say. Just checked in to find the owl or owls back in their box. I might see two now.
Ms. B is still on her eggs. Can't see how many as she is still sleeping and hasn't gotten off yet.
I guess they are wondering where their parents are with the food.
These three Kestrels must be another clip, as I was watching 4 tiny new borns the other day. I'll have to check later. There are only 3 that I am getting and they are bigger chicks.
Everything looks calm in birdland for now. Can't wait for ms. B to get off her eggs and watch a chick hatch. Keep your eyes peeled. BBL
MRS. B seems restless--could it be because she has an egg hatching beneath her? Keep looking.
Good morning, new thread
