Jo, thanks for the heads up, and congrats on the good news! I had read that, but totally forgot, forgive me. But I'm glad to hear he's coming home!! Is this for good this time, or leave?
Hi stranger Megan! I know you're busy, and today is a beautiful day to be out in the garden.
Hi Mits and Paula!

Suzanne said...

BW eaglets are by their "secret telling" tree.

MITS said...

Is that an osprey at BW?????

MITS said...

Yes, it is...

MITS said...

Tai is laying on his back eating bamboo right up by the windows, and his Dad is relaxing in the pool.

Jill said...

Great News Jo. Give him a big hug and thank you from us.

Mits I might be driving up to see my family this weekend, will you be around the shore or back in Bethesda?

Suzanne said...

Morning, Jill.
Time for me to hit the road. All have a great eagle day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!

Anne-Marie said...

Good Morning all, its another beautiful day in the neighborhood.I'm waiting for my dentist to call. What ever is wrong its under a cap. OUCH! May this day bring smiles and beauty into your lives. Back later.

MITS said...

JILLHeading back to Bethesda on Friday...have a shower on Sat and dentist and doc appts on Tues and zoo on Wed, then heading back here for Fathers' day weekend next Thursday. Starting my back and forth for the summer, it will be really weird to be back in Bethesda for the summer, usually I come down to the beach in May and stay til October full time.

MITS said...

Annemarie, hope your tooth gets fixed...hate it when that happens.

Jill said...

Oh well Mits maybe next time. I don't plan on missing out on summer this year. Not working every other weekend and no store. Plenty of free time. And I plan on spending a lot of it near the water.

Anne-Marie said...

Thank you Mits. Where is that dentist? If I could spend the summer at the beach I would like summer better. Its just too darn hot for me here. Lucky you...

sandyshaw said...

Jo, I believe it's 3:00 our time. There's a long note today about all the ethics involved in removing the egg.

Mema Jo said...

They are out of camera range right now... I never knew you could double click on the cam and it explodes into a full screen - Just like the NE eagle cam... DUH..............

Mema Jo said...

Sandra I read that and isn't it written beautifully with so many humane thoughts ...

Costume Lady said...

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gent-
JO--I accidently found out about zooming in on the Loons last night. Right clicked when I didn't mean to and discovered a new toy!
You have to remember that I am fairly new to a computer and I am still learning simple basics. I love it!

Costume Lady said...

Was just watching the Loons and I find it so sad that Mama is just sitting there wasting her time. I quess that is why they are going to remove the egg. I love watching baby LuLu (or Louie). I wish they would keep her somewhere that we could watch her grow up.

MITS said...

Jill, just let me know when you are here and you can come hang out with me:) I really don't want to miss any of my time at the zoo, just in case we have a new cub come this summer....Love all you Loonies:):):)! BBL!

MITS said...

Wanda I know what you mean:)!

sandyshaw said...

Did you see Dad bring in a small fish and give it to the baby then take it back several times. Then Mom decided to join Dad and baby couldn't decide whether to stay with the fish or dive in Mom. In he went! Then Dad came back and picked up the fish. What a wonderful family!

paula eagleholic said...

VA cam is back on :)

BW nests are MT

CA nests are full

Osprey chicks getting bigger at CT and LI

Jill said...

I will let you know when I decide to come up. Trying to figure out what I am doing all summer. Too much time.

Of course you cant miss Zoo time. That would be the day that the baby showed up. LOL

Mema Jo said...

I have the loon cam up - I think the egg snatching will be delayed a little. My cam stops quite often - does anyone elses? I have a hard time getting it started again. Just what am I doing wrong?

sandyshaw said...

I'm having the same problems, Jo. Holding down on the play button seems to work to bring it back up, but I can't do anything about the freezing.

paula eagleholic said...

Norfolk eaglets are getting more confident. The one on the large close up branch is standing on one foot.

Mema Jo said...

OK I figured out that the cam goes into the Buffering Mode quite often - of course, that is when my streaming video stops -- Patience Mema Jo!

Mema Jo said...

Great event is over
Loon egg has been snatched

I didn't see a thing due to cam's black screen - maybe it was intentional.. Now I hope I can see the Loon return to eggless nest & I doubt she is going to be concerned - We'll see

sandyshaw said...

I'm right here with you, Jo. Fascinating and beautiful.

Mema Jo said...

I have to leave for a 4:00 - If you see them return, please make a comment for me... Thanks!

Anne-Marie said...

I was in a meeting and missed it. I will watch too as much as I can. I have three girls "out sick" and I'm picking up the slack so I'm busy. Back Later.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Good afternoon everyone. Mema Jo, I guess it is safe to assume that Patrick is coming home. I haven't read the previous thread. I am going to have to get back on here more often. I am missing out on a lot.

Does Liberty and Belle every come to our nest anymore? I do see there are fresh leaves in the nest.

I miss everyone!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Most of the wildlife I have been watching lately is right outside my office/bedroom window. I had a baby woodpecker today. He was so cute and fluffy.

Monday, a hawk caught a bird right in front of my house. I was beating on the window and calling it names that I can't repeat on here. I know the way mother nature is, but I don't have to like it.

NillaWafer said...

Just peeking in to say hello, have not been on for awhile as i have been in several hospitols in recent weeks. The picture of "OUR" kids Steven put on sure brought back some great memories... Congrats Sharon on Andrews graduation... Mits i was in Ocean City few weeks ago had crabs at Hoopers... very small crabs..But when i got back to Hagerstown ended up in Washington Co Hospitol before being taken to Winchester...Tai is such a big boy now saw him this morning sleeping by the windows Mits where we watched Tian that day..must be a mist of spray there? Well must lay down awhile.. Do think of everyone often... Nilla

Costume Lady said...

NILLAWAFER--
Sorry to hear you have been ill. I see you are from Martinsburg; as am I and Jill, Robyann and Sandyshaw is from Shepherdstown.
Welcome back--stay in touch.

Anne-Marie said...

Well its time for me to sign off and hit the freeways. I have watched the Loon all afternoon and there has been no sign of anything or anyone. I was hoping to get a glance of Ranger Ron. He is a cutie but NO such luck. Calif cams are a mess and at BW both Ospreys were there for a few minutes. They are a pretty bird. I'll check back in later if I can. If not I hope everyone has a good rest and a happy evening.

Anne-Marie said...

I spoke too soon. I just saw Mom with Babe on her back.

MITS said...

NILLA How the heck are you? What's up? Did you have more surgery? Are you a Graandmom yet???? I have never been to Hoopers, thought you liked Bahama Mama's for crabs, I haven't had any crabs yet this year.

sandyshaw said...

Nilla, great to hear from you. I've been in and out of City, Winchester, and Charles Town hospitals in the last two months with Tom and Mother. Sorry that you're having problems again. How was the family trip to Disney Land?

Jo, I've watched the nest off and on since the egg disappeared but no sitings. Heidi saw Mom with the baby on her back at 7:50. MTBR

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, I just spent a little while reading back through the blogs. I thank everyone so much for your congratulatory wishes to Andrew and myself. The whole experience was so awesome. It still blows my mind that I actually gave birth to that wonderful, beautiful creature.

He is coming home tomorrow night from his St. Louis trip. Friday night in Bluefield and Saturday night at Pipestem State Park, The East River Mountain Town Band will be having concerts. I am sure that Andrew will be good and tired for that. We are actually going to camp at Pipestem this weekend too. I love this working Monday through Friday and off on the weekends. It is really awesome!

Hope all is well with everybody. Love you bunches!

Mema Jo said...

Nilla You've got to stay away from those crabs - sounds like they didn't like you much. Praying for your health to return!

We were just talking the other day about Flag Day - Glo promises to give us a special treat to remember our Spunky. Last season was one to be remembered well!

Mema Jo said...

Sandra I certainly hope they update their log with a comment or two about the removal of the loon egg. I had only watched they for a few weeks - but I miss Mr/Ms Loon and especially Little Loonie! I am thinking that without the egg there, they won't return. I am glad Anne saw them - I think it is so cool to see a little one on momma's back. The nest is still empty.

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE--Tomorrow is another day.

SUZ--A SPECIAL GOOD MORNING TO YOU, our favorite commentator.

Suzanne said...

Good morning, eagle world! Good morning Jo and CostumeLady. Coffee will be in about 2 hrs or so.
Chilly out compared to what it's been, but a beautiful night. 55° at my house, 58° here. Didn't wear a jacket, but think it's supposed to be around 90 today, so won't need one later. Have a sort of chubby half moon, very bright. Pretty.
You are not gonna believe this. Our cam had lines all over it when I first brought it up, but seems to be clearing up now. But the very clear blinds are open on the BW eagle cam, and there is an osprey in the nest! Geesh, I hope they don't try to lay eggs at this time of year, it's very late. Wow, got the glowing eye thing going on. Course the eagle nest is MT, as is ours...which you can almost see now. Haven't checked out other cams yet, will shortly. All have a great eagle day. One more workday to go!!! And Steve is in Wyoming today, lucky guy! Big Sky Country, beautiful state.
Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!

Suzanne said...

Early arrival - fledgling in the BW eagle nest. Just laying there for the moment. No, now he's walking to the edge, or standing near the edge.
Only other cam that birds are up that I watch is the storks, 2 chicks are talking to parent, other chick is snoozing, and the barn owls... they seem to be vacating the nest box. Their back corner is MT, but you can see them standing near the front entrance, so maybe they're getting their nerve up to fledge.
BW eaglet still there, edge of nest, looking over, I guess.

Suzanne said...

Forgot, osprey still standing on corner of nest. Ok, eaglet now in nest laying down.

Suzanne said...

Our first arrival!!! Someone just arrived in our nest.

Suzanne said...

She, (think this may be Belle), was standing in center of nest looking straight. She's still there, but now bod and she are facing towards 3.
Osprey still in place, BW eagle MT
She was eary this morning.

Suzanne said...

Now pic changed, and I can't really see her anymore. Not sure if head is down, or if she left.
Uh oh, pic getting those lines, now REALLY can't see.

Suzanne said...

I did a gazillion refreshes, pic just keeps getting worse. Absolutely no idea if she's still in the nest, just see lines.

Suzanne said...

Well, dang. Every refresh just gives you different lines! Bummer!

Suzanne said...

OH, not so many lines. Yup, but now I'm thinking that Lib. He's on his perch, facing away from nest, but still there.
Oh, think the one osprey left, cause now on this refresh there is one in the nest with a fish. Unless the one left and came back in 60 seconds, this is a different osprey.
Lib still standing pn perch.

Suzanne said...

Lib is still there, on perch. Looking into the nest over his shoulder.

Suzanne said...

Still standing on perch. Osprey still in nest, but looking around. PA falcons are doing wing flaps on their ledge. All 3 stork babies are out and about...well, actually, sitting near parent, but you can see all 3 of them. My Benicia owl cam is not updating.
Lib still there.

Suzanne said...

Now he's jumped to the center of the nest. Good, maybe he is waiting for Belle to show up.

Suzanne said...

Now head down checking nest. But getting daylight, so you can see him.

Suzanne said...

Uh oh, osprey left, nest MT. Lib still in our nest.

Suzanne said...

Now he's turned around, but still there..I keep saying this is Lib, but looking at the tail feathers, it may be Belle. She just doesn't hang out on the perch. *(Y(*&#E$E%&*& there goes the pic!!!!

Suzanne said...

Still there, but heavy heavy lines on top of pic.

Suzanne said...

Lines all through pic, but I believe Belle just arrived and is by tree. Lib still where he was, so it was Lib.
Refresh, think now just 1 in nest, but no clue which one. Or if even both were there, pic was so bad. No, this is Belle.

Suzanne said...

Belle has her head down over her dining table, where she very often eats. Kind of looks foggy or something there. Head up, but can't tell if she's got anything to eat.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Good morning Suzanne. I see Lib or Belle in that nest. Beautiful way to start the day.

Suzanne, do you have my frontiernet address? I don't get your pics anymore or any mail from you for that matter.

Suzanne said...

Osprey back in the nest. Lines on our cam back, but you can still see Belle through them.

Suzanne said...

I can see Belle's feet, but can't tell if she has something in front of her or not. In any case, she's just standing there moving her head looking around.

Suzanne said...

Belle still standing there. Osprey in nest standing there. Think baby storks may be getting lunch. Oh, Belle turned around and has head down, but head in center of nest, so don't know if she's eating or not.

Suzanne said...

Head back up. Lines coming back. She's standing in front of the take off launch pad, facing 3ish. Dang, more heavy lines!

Suzanne said...

Now heavy lines, and I can't tell if she's still there or not.

Suzanne said...

Ah yup, she's still there. But over by her tree now.

Suzanne said...

Still by the tree looking around.
Osprey still standing in nest looking around.
Oh, Fledgling and parent just arrived in BW. Fledgling came in mantling, and he has a huge fish in his talons! How cool. Now he's just over the fish, parent by his rear.
Belle still there by tree, cam is clearing.

Suzanne said...

Both fledglings now, so parent left and other fledgling cam in during one of the refreshes.
Fish is showing under the one chick.
Osprey looking at the cam.
Other chick left.
Belle still there by tree.

Suzanne said...

It is foggy in Shepherdstown. Very cool looking!

Suzanne said...

Belle still there by tree. Small black lines, but you can see.
Chick eating his fish, osprey just standing.

Suzanne said...

Eaglet keeping an eye out for others to arrive in nest that may steal his fish. Belle still by tree, osprey still in nest.

Suzanne said...

Oops, morning, Sharon. I saw where you put it here on the blog, but think I read that at home. Not sure...yup, I do have it. But think I tried to send you a couple emails after you got that address, and kept getting failed mails for you. Is it operational now? If so, I will try to send today's pics to you also, when I do them.
Belle's still by tree, eaglet by side of nest, osprey still in nest.

Suzanne said...

Uh oh, eaglet sibling just arrived.
Belle has her head up looks like she's leaning on the tree. She can almost hide that way!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Suzanne, it is operational now. The comcast address is gone. Thanks.

Getting ready to start work now. I hope everybody has a wonderful day!

Suzanne said...

Well, all 3 nests are occupied, and everybody is just standing around. Belle by tree, siblings on either side of their nest, and osprey still in same place. Her/his head moves, though.

Suzanne said...

Ok, Sharon, I'll add you to my pic list. Let me know if you actually do get them. But I think if you didn't, I would get a failed mail.
Don't work too hard.

Oh, one eaglet left, others exactly in same place.

Suzanne said...

Our little piglet eagle is munching down on that fish! Every once in a while you can see it on refreshes, and he's doing some damage!
Belle has head up by tree again, and here come the lines again. Osprey is glued in place, can't move anything other than head.

Suzanne said...

Forgot, the PA falcons were doing wing stretches this morning, now they're strolling up and down the ledge.
Belle's head back up. I think she's eating...

Suzanne said...

Belle's still there. Fog looks so cool.
Eaglet eating, osprey still glued in place.
CostumeLady, are you up yet? Watching?
I'm going outside for a sec, BRB. You can take over, if you will, please!!!

Suzanne said...

I'm back, what'd I miss? Guess not much, Belle is now by the perch, fish is almost gone, and nobody has unglued the poor osprey.

Suzanne said...

Uh oh, Belle on jump off perch. Oh, didn't go, she's got a bite. BW eaglet has moved to other side of fish now, maybe that side tasts different. Osprey in place.
Oh, Belle just left from her take off perch.

Suzanne said...

All 4 falcon babies are up by the nest box, parent on bar. Parent stork is shading babies with her wings out. Small blackbird just landed on a branch in our nest.

Suzanne said...

Eaglet left, and has left what is left of his fish. Osprey still glued in place, our nest MT. Falcon chicks are all up by nest box, and parent was on bar a few minutes ago. Parent stork still shading the chicks with her wings.

Did the Lib and Belle pics and sent them out. Sharon, let me know if you get them.

BW eaglet just arrived, top of cam, but not sure he/she knows there are leftovers.

Suzanne said...

Uh oh, meandering that way. Think chick knows there are leftovers now.
Yup, attacking the fish.

Suzanne said...

BW eaglet has moved the fish to the other side of the nest to eat.
Another small blackbird on another branch, our nest.

Suzanne said...

Benicia owl cam finally came online. Oh, osprey has moved to center of nest, facing out and has back up. Must be something flying nearby.
Anyway, can see 3 owls, so maybe the oldest one fledged..

Suzanne said...

Well, there was something flying nearby. Now there are 2 ospreys in the nest, but I do believe neither one of these is the one that was there a minute ago. Geesh, who knows? Bottom line, 2 ospreys in nest.

Suzanne said...

Female osprey on the right, what may be a male on the left.

Suzanne said...

Only 1 osprey now. Blackbird on Sycamore tree. BW eaglet still chowing down on leftover fish.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Got 'em Suz. Thanks much!

Suzanne said...

Eaglet just left. There is not a fish scale visible on the cam from this fish this morning! He/She's better than one of those Animal Dyson vacuum cleaners! Wow. Osprey still in nest grooming. Falcons are all up around the big white pillar, parent on pole, and barn owls (Benicia) are snoozing. Stork still shading babies. Can't believe the sun is out that much, this is in Germany, for heaven's sake. You get 3 days of sun a year, and it doesn't come quite this early!

Suzanne said...

BOTH IN NEST!!!!!

Suzanne said...

ARE YOU GUYS UP AND SEEING THIS? CAM IS PERFECT, AND BOTH LIB AND BELLE ARE HANGING OUT!!!

Suzanne said...

Eaglet in nest, osprey in nest, brown little falcons on ledge.
They are so pretty!!!! Our babies, I mean.

Suzanne said...

Belle left, just Lib in nest now.

Suzanne said...

BELLE BACK!!!

Suzanne said...

Lib is rearranging furniture again.

Suzanne said...

On his perch, where else. Belle is rearranging furniture in nest.

Suzanne said...

Oh man, sure hope at least you lurkers are watching them. Everyone else is sleeping in and missing them.

Suzanne said...

Belle moved up by her tree, Lib moved into center of nest. Watching what Belle is doing. Now he's looking over the nest side.

Suzanne said...

Well dang, one of them left, one still there. Think Lib left, and that's Belle.

Suzanne said...

There goes the other one. MT nest. BW parent and mantling eaglet just arrived.
oop, parent left and other eaglet arrived...deja vu!

Suzanne said...

Osprey standing on corner of nest. Both eaglets in BW. Our nest MT. Falcons strolling ledge, stork babies are napping, and still only see 3 owlets in Benicia.

Suzanne said...

You're welcome, Sharon. Nice to know the address works for me now.

Going to send another set of pics around of this last visit. Cam was beautiful, so showed our kids beautifully!!!

Suzanne said...

2nd set of pics just went out of their second visit.

Suzanne said...

Osprey is walking all around the nest exploring. Both eaglets still in BW, storks are napping, only see 1 barn owl now, but he's standing so cute. Think others may be up by entrance.
Ok, time for me to get coffee, didn't stop for iced coffee this morning, it was too chilly.

Suzanne said...

Almost dawn in Kent, and you can see the top of a white head in the nest.

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING SUZ AND SHARON--
I really slept in this morning.
Had a nice surprise when I opened up the kitchen door--a Bob White was singing his two-tuned song. We haven't had them around here for about 15 years

Suzanne said...

2 ospreys in nest. Both BW eaglets in nest. One of the falcons in PA has something to eat, others are up and down the ledge.

Suzanne said...

One osprey just left..

Suzanne said...

One eaglet just left, other one appears to be eating.

Suzanne said...

Good morning, CostumeLady! You sure did sleep in, but Lib and Belle visited us twice this morning. Cam behaved much better on 2nd visit!
Still 1 osprey and eaglet in BW nests. Parent had something to eat on PA ledge, so here come the little ones looking for their share!

Costume Lady said...

Just checked out Kent nest and it must be raining there--Mom looks really scruffy.

COFFEE TIME.

glo said...

Good morning everyone. Gosh pictures fromt his morning are really gorgeous Suzanne Thanks so very much.

Wishing everyone a great day. ope your day is also a "little Loonie' but not too Looney.

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING GLO-
I sure do miss Mom and Baby LuLu Loon. What a beutiful sight it was each morning with the sun rising on them while they were in the nest. NEVER MORE SAYETH THE RAVEN.

Suzanne said...

Morning, Glo. You're welcome for the pics, glad you like them. It's always nice to see Liberty and Belle stop by for a visit.
CostumeLady, did the Loons leave? I know they were going to take the unhatched egg yesterday, but then did baby and mom leave?

Costume Lady said...

SUZ-
I didn't get to view the cam of the Loons at the time of the egg removal. (don't know if they showed that) But I did peek in every chance I got later and into the late evening. Never saw them anymore.

Suzanne said...

Ah, that's a shame. I know you liked that cam. Maybe they'll come back...

Jill said...

Wanda

Mom and Baby Loon were back around the nest last evening but then swam away. I just got a glimpse of them. First time I had seen baby and I guess the last.

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING JILL-
I loved watching baby LuLu climb all over Mom and run around the nest and hide under Mom's wing. And when Dad came to visit, she would run to the edge of the nest to greet him. NATURE at it's finest!

Costume Lady said...

Check out the Loon Cam:
Mom and LuLu are sitting on the nest! Hooray!

Suzanne said...

I'm so glad you are getting to see them again! Maybe they just took a break for a few hours after the humans removed the other egg.

Morning, Jill.

Costume Lady said...

Double click the picture on the Loons and you will get a full screen view. (I did't know that until 2 days ago)

Costume Lady said...

AAHH!--Loons are gone.
I'm going outside to look for my BobWhite. Maybe they are nesting here again.

movin said...

GOOD THURSDAY MORNING, FRIENDS...

I started to read blogs and watch some cams, but it's getting late, and I figure I'd better just say 'hi' this morning.....

Jim

Suzanne said...

Morning, Jim. Have a good day.
Both Kent parents are in the tree together. Kids are awake in the nest.

Robyn said...

Morning Suzanne, Wanda, Glo, Jim and sleepyheads

Suzanne did you notice that 2 Benicia Owlets have been out of the nest? Last nght I saw No.4 and 3 and at one point another was in the nest then gone again. Almost time for them to fledge.

I haven't been able to pull up the Va cam but I have also been busy finishing up my Envirnmental Science report almost 10 pages *cross eyed*

Hope everyone enjoys the day and hopefully it will be as nice as yesterday.

Wanda that bird came back but I can't find him/her in the grosbeak pictures so I am not so sure it is a grosbeak, eventually I will know. He is a new visitor :)

Mema Jo said...

Good Morning Eagleland
Active at our nest this morning!Great! Also I see Ms Loon and LuLuLoonie - that makes me smile I really didn't think they would come back to the platform.
The barn owl cam on WildWatch has been frozen since 6/4 in case you check that one-they have been notified
Busy day today for me - I will be checking in and out - Keep those comments coming!

Suzanne said...

Morning, Robynann and Jo, little sleepyheads. I've been watching the Benicia owls, and all day today there have only been 3 in the nest. I presume the oldest has fledged. Most of the day, only 1 or 2 have been in view, but now they're getting ready to go to bed for the night, and there are 3 in there. The smallest one is in the corner behind the other 2. They grew and fledged quickly, didn't they? Looks like 2 females protecting the little one, but the little one still doesn't have all his feathers yet, so can't tell what that one is. I'm guessing a male.
Jo, glad you got the pics. They were there twice this morning, and 3 visits yesterday. Always makes me feel good to see them so early in the AM!
You guys have a great day.

MITS said...

GOOD MORNING LOONIES AND BIRD LOVERS. Beautiful day at the ocean. My sister the lurker called this a.m. they are reporting on the news, that, Mei Xiang may be pregnant. John Berry the director announced it last night at a private function. I have not received any notice from the zoo officially. Mr Berry is a nice guy, with alot of enthusiasm, but, we all know this could also be a false pregancy too. Let's let the zoo keepers do their job and report when neccesary. "It is what it is"...have a good one.

Suzanne said...

Hey, Mits! YAHOOO, that would be so cool! Hope she is, but didn't she go through a couple false pregnancies before Tai? I don't really remember.

Costume Lady said...

Good Morning JO,ROBYNANN,JIM AND MITS
Mrs. Bluebird has been on her nest for quite awhile now. Maybe an egg today?

Suzanne said...

There is an adult Western Bluebird in the nest! Has been there for about a half an hour.

NILLAWAFER--
Can you tell us a little about yourself on your profile? Male-Female? (not necessary if you would rather not)

Costume Lady said...

NILLAWAFER-
I used to LOVE Blue Crabs and the first time I had Crab Legs in Myrtle Beach, I was hooked on them. I have not had a Blue Crab since then. Have you tried the China City Buffet here in Martinsburg? Their food is wonderful and the Crab Legs are very good (95% of the time). Frog legs aren't too bad either.

Anne-Marie said...

Mom and Babe loon on nest. Beautiful.

Mema Jo said...

I have just returned and haven't caught up with everyone. I did look in on the Loon's and see dad in the lake and mom on the platform. I am glad you saw LuLuLoon, Anne - I guess she is under mom's feathered wing. It's really windy there!

Robyn- I bet that pic gave you a start! Ho Ho!
I will give you a link to the Kent Gallery so you can see Wanda's bluebird and egg!

Here you go...

Wanda, you are right about the crabs at China City. Love them. Also there is a place in Hagerstown. Can't think of the name. It is on Maugan's Av across from the new Sheetz. Their legs are better and they are 100%. And you don't have to wait near as long for them to come out.

Saw Momma Loon briefly this morning.

Jill said...

Loon on the platform now.

NillaWafer said...

Mits its offical on the Washington news about Mei might be pregnant!!!!Costume Lady i have been on this blog really since last year March 2006, but because of health problems and such i dont get on line as much as i use to... I live in Martinsburg will be 60 July 1st and i am divorced... I am in pictures on Momsters from last years visits to NCTC and visits with other bloggers at Christmas parties... I quit smoking as of August 14th,2006 cold turkey after smoking for 45 years and this August will be 1 year!!! Mits my partner in crime so we both were called "Thelma & Louise" (i am Louise) I am going to try and send this but each time it tells me wrong password and i make new account.

Jill said...

Baby Loon on the nest parents in the water nearby. So cute

Mema Jo said...

Would you all go over to WildWatch and look at the barn owl for me...
The cam had been down for 3 days or so but it is now UP! I think I see an egg but I need some more eyes!!!
Let me know what you think....

Mema Jo said...

Now Mrs Bluebird is nesting in the box on the egg.........

MITS said...

looking at owl, see feathers, but not egg yet.

MITS said...

those burrowing owls crack me up:):).

Mema Jo said...

Thanks, MITS. She moved slightly and what had looked like an egg just wasn't there once she moved.

Costume Lady said...

JILL-
Thanks for the Heads up on little LuLu. She must have not liked the rough water. Mom has joined her now, Dad is swimming near-by.

Mema Jo said...

Eaglet home all alone at BW.
So is the osprey at BW.

Our cam is really messed up!

MITS said...

WOW that full screen of the loonies is great!

MITS said...

Barn owl looks like she is going to hurl:(.

MITS said...

She must be watching the loon cam, does make you a little dizzy.

Mema Jo said...

With the little owls being so quick with their movements and with the cam refreshing - looks like an old time movie....

Mema Jo said...

I can't imagine that the loon chicks are to leave the adults 24 - 48 hrs after hatching... Looking at the rough water in the lake I would wonder how they survive...
Instead of Bobble heads we would call them Bobble bodies!

Costume Lady said...

NILLAWAFER-
Thanks for your biography. I didn't mean to be nosey, but when I saw that you were from Martinsburg, I was happy to have another native in our group. My daughter quit smoking about 6 weeks ago and she says she feels as if she has lost her best friend. No cigarette with coffe, no cigarette after meals, no cigarette when she goes to a party or visits friends who smoke. She will get over it but I know it is rough. I quit 30 years ago.

Anne-Marie said...

Oh, that little LuLu loonie is so sweet. She keeps hiding under mama's warm wing from that wind. Boy that looks cold. I guess Ranger Ron is going to have to do with out me. This California sissy doesnt do cold. I cant work any more today. I took another pain pill and I'm "fuzzy". My appointment for my root canal isnt until Monday. Its going to be a long weekend. Despite all of it I got allot done. Aspirn only does so much. Oh no I forgot, tomorrow is payday... Nilla I have never had the kind of crabs you are talking about. Alaska, King, California but not the small, blue tasty ones you are talking about. Thats another adventure and another trip.

Anne-Marie said...

The Babes leave the adults? Dont they follow them around like ducklings?

Costume Lady said...

JO-
Just in case you didn't read my earlier comment to you; thanks for posting my picts. of Mrs. Bluebird; you are TOPS!
I agree that the baby Loons seem far too fragile to be on their own so soon after hatching.

Costume Lady said...

HEIDIGIRL-
According to the information on the Loon Cam, the babies leave the nest 24 to 48 hours after they hatch, never to return to the nest. Can you believe it?

Mema Jo said...

Guess the loon don't mind the cold water - the platform is empty. I hope Lulu Loonie is on its mother's back.

Hi Wanda - I did read your message - Their gallery is very simple to use.Let me know when you're ready to try it! I did see Bluebird a little while ago and her Blue feathers down her back were beautiful.
