Good Morning Eagle Buds

such a pretty day today

JudyEddy said...

OH that was a split and I didn't realize it and it didn't hurt a bit LOL

JudyEddy said...

22° at the nest and I still see some snow coming down

Lolly said...

Good morning! I am getting cold just looking at the nest and listening to the wind! Hate seeing the snow on the back of the eagle.

57 here and heading up. Going to be a week of sunshine and 60's and 70's! Sorry!

Visit to the local vampire when I finish my coffee. Friday my yearly physical. But, I am. Thinking work in the yard today!

I was really hoping for a third egg, still possible but a bit doubtful! I am thinking!

Have a great day! Stay warm and safe!

JudyEddy said...

wasn't going to brag on my temps but since LOLLY has started it MINE IS 66° and the high will be in the 70's today Gone are the cold days I can only hope the other days it as 38° hard to believe 40° swing in a day or so

WVJerry said...

Good morning Judie and Kay. Looks like second round of snow is starting. I can see snow at the nest now.

WVJerry said...

Good morning Judy and Lolly. Glad you all have warm weather now. Still pretty chilly here.

Sandi said...

Hi all. Just got back from the vet with Janey. She has had hookworms ever since we got her and I have to have a "specimen" checked every 2 weeks or so. She has had 5 or 6 rounds of worming medicine and I'm really hoping the worms are history now. Also wanted to get her weight checked to make sure she's not gaining or losing any weight.

The main roads are OK but the side roads around here are snow-covered and slippery. Got to use the 4-wheel drive in my Jeep. It's still snowing but the temps are right around freezing and headed into the 40s. By tomorrow we'll be in the 50s with rain.

The snow seems to be picking up at the nest.

Lolly, we could certainly still get a 3rd egg. Just last year Belle laid the first and second eggs at 3 days apart but then it was 4 days between eggs 2 and 3. If you recall, there was a really big size difference between the last chick and the first 2 that hatched a day apart. We shall see - only Belle knows what will happen.

OK, off to do some cleaning. Will be watching the nest off and on.

Good late snowy Monday morning to all ♥

Shirley - you all down south of us are getting the blunt of this snowfall. I maybe had 2" or so of very light dusty snow - Cleared deck with a broom. Now it is coming down again very fine - I am praying it doesn't turn to ice/sleet before turning into rain.
President's day has a lot of people home plus holiday for the schools. That is a blessing with this weather. Spring is only 33 days and counting.........♥

Love your vase and your daffodils - Lolly!
Love your temps - Judy

But I also love it right here by my computer with the snow outside and all my friends inside chatting with me!

stronghunter said...

Eagle catching a few z's this morning.

stronghunter said...

Hunter was supposed to have school today--a make-up day for earlier snow days. But they announced the closing last night. Guess they were sufficiently concerned about the forecast to make that call.

Our eagle is awake. Sort of. Eyes mostly closed. It almost seemed like something startled him.

stronghunter said...

Wouldn't want to try to sneak up on that eagle even if he seems to be sleeping.

Mema Jo said...

Berry College - their little bobble-head was seen and a video was put on FB - as are all little bobble-heads he is a cutie. I think their big black eyes is what takes your heart away

We still have our 2 eggs. Not sure of my feelings about a third - Unusual if we don't have 3 since over the years it has always been a 3 egg clutch. I am happy with 2 ♥

SWFL had E8 returned and there was no rejection - all acceptance. I think CROW rehab
had spoiled him - he is eating all the time! They have not be bonking each other and those dark pin feathers seem to be coming in.

stronghunter said...

Yes, Jo. I think we are getting the snow bonanza this time.

stronghunter said...

I am happy with 2 as well, Jo. It is difficult watching that third little one trying to survive.

Mema Jo said...

Our nest looks like it could be getting sleet rather then snow. Just looking on Belle's back.

JudyEddy said...

according to my weather channel app a chance of precip for the next couple of days at the nest 60%today in the next 36hours 40% by this weekend 50%

JudyEddy said...

I also thought SLEET the way it looks

stronghunter said...

Wide view now. Some kind of frozen precipitation falling, but not much. Some of it is on our eagle.

stronghunter said...

Some snow still falling here, but not much.

WVJerry said...

My Live Feed seems to be buffering.

WVJerry said...

Back running now.

JudyEddy said...

Ran in to the x mayor while I was out. I got the biggest hug from him. He was in Walmart daily in McDonalds with his wife. even after his retirement as mayor

So sweet he says he misses my smiling face at Walmart that there are no other associate that smiled like me all the time.

Lolly said...

Just finished our "walk" and watched cam the whole time.Very thankful that whatever is falling is fine and not big fluffy flakes coming down like a blizzard!

Looked at papers for vampire work and the date says the 16th or later. So, will postpone until tomorrow! And, I was ready to head out, too!

Time for Belle to shake it off! She, if it's her,has chirped a couple of times!

Lolly said...

Time to water house plants and clean our bathroom! Tah tah!

Mema Jo said...

That is a good-feeling compliment Judy! I love smiling at people just like you do!
I sometimes count how many smiles I get in return! It works pretty well

Mema Jo said...

Update from IT on keeping wide view until 4:30-5:00 instead of 2pm

IT said it could easily be reset - it's in front of Steve for approval.

Check the live feed at 2 pm to see if it zooms in - or if it stays wide view.

I really took into consideration everyone's opinions. At the time of hatching we would go back to the routine we have now.

JudyEddy said...

JO Thanks for the update

eagle is tucked again

STILL CAM IS STUCK AT 107

Mema Jo said...

LOL well my grandsons have left. It was a short but wonderful visit. I did have a nice supply of groceries here for them and what they didn't eat they took with them for their ride back to St Louis. Bill will spend 5 more days with Will there and then he flies back to Bangor Maine. He is still in High School but they are on Feb break this week. They promised it won't be 17 yrs the next time. I took them to John Deere and Isabelle Bloom this morning. They loved John Deere and Will found his girl a special elephant from Isabelle Bloom. Then out to lunch and off they went. I have my pictures though and some wonderful current memories. They are both fine young men and my driveway is all shoveled to, bless their hearts.

Mema Jo said...

Good for you Glo. I am very happy for you and the time you were able to spend with
those two special grandsons. ♥

JudyEddy said...

GLO so happy that you got a long overdue reunion and happy drive is clear also Saw pic on FB nice looking young men they are

Mema Jo said...

Congrats to the Berry Eagle Family! Two successful hatchings ♥

stronghunter said...

I am so happy for you Glo. Our grandchildren are precious. Two handsome young men.

Congratulations, Berry Eagles!

stronghunter said...

stronghunter said...

Belle in, I think.

WVJerry said...

Glo - Glad you had a nice visit with your grandsons. Looks like snowing at nest now.

JudyEddy said...

Mr President and the First Lady had a egg today. Never heard of that nest Just got a notification in email from the American Eagle Foundation Will have to check out that cam Have any of you heard of them?

Sandi said...

Hi again all. Upstairs is clean. Snow has turned to rain that is supposed to continue all the way until tomorrow afternoon, getting heavy at times. But temps will be in the 50s tomorrow.

Must be Belle in the nest - Shep doesn't tent as well as she does. Wonder if we will get another egg? Wonder if the cam will go kaput again this evening?

BTW, Denny slept in a spare room again last night so i have no idea if he snored or not. He has one more anti-snoring device to try tonight. It's a mouthpiece that's supposed to hold your lower jaw further forward to keep your airway more open. We shall see.

Good late afternoon.

Glo, so very happy you had a wonderful time with the grandsons. I'm sure they will be happy to make another visit very soon.

JudyE, yes. A pair of bald eagles have nested for years on the grounds of St. Elizabeth's hospital (think John Hinkley). That pair was the only known pair nesting within the District's borders. The pair being discussed now are nesting on the grounds of the National Arboretum in South East, D.C. The big excitement is that this is the first time a nest in D.C. has had a camera. There are two eggs. I have not been able to find a "live" cam but will try again. Some years ago, Lynn (Hedgie) and I participated in a letter-writing campaign to try to save the habitat of the hospital eagles; however, Homeland Security wanted a road which cut through the area surrounding that nest. Guess who won?

Headed for the scullery.

They sent a link to the camera along with the email I can't get it to load

We ran a couple of errands and Jack has disappeared out to his shop. He is working on a Shut the Box game for Joey for his birthday this Sunday. They gave Jack the game Christmas and Zach one for his birthday. So, Jack has now built the prettiest one for Joey! The whole family will enjoy it!

Oh, poor Belle! She looks miserable. Did I read that Deb thought an egg was laid around 4? Hmmm???

Mema Jo said...

Thanks Judy ! I think it is a false alarm - but who knows until we can see into the egg cup!

You haven't seen any proof of it yet, have you?

Lolly said...

Looks like a egg roll time! At least time for a big shake off!!

Sandi said...

Lost the live cam - same time as last night. What is up with this!!

Mema Jo said...

SANDI Isw it frozen or did the screen go black

Mine seems to be ok - but I'm waiting for Belle to move

Lolly said...

I believe I called it! Lol. Saw only two eggs!

Lolly said...

Keeps buffering and I refreshed fast!

Mema Jo said...

EGG ROLL - could not see into cup

BOTH of my cams are up/running.

Not sure what the problem for you could be

Sandi said...

OK, got it back right away. Watching for an egg roll.

Lolly, i love that game Shut the Box. We had it for years but my niece came to visit 3 summers ago with her son who was about 6 years old at the time. Jacob loved the game so much that I gave it to him to take back to Missouri. A homemade one would be such a lovely gift! Wow!

Went to full screen on that egg roll. Saw 1 egg clearly and a glimpse of a 2nd one hiding under Belle. No sign of a 3rd. But it could still happen.

JudyEddy said...

SAW TWO EGGS

Lolly said...

I hear sirens! Air raid! Tornado?

Lolly said...

Sandi, it is beautiful wood on the box. He ordered from online wood dice. It is really nice! Zach does really well with the game and not much holds his attention for long

JudyEddy said...

big shake off for Belle up now

Mema Jo said...

Just needs to make it through the night for better weather !

Sandi said...

Just read this on a FB weather site: "A quarter to half inch of ice is likely across northern VA, central MD, extreme eastern WV, and across the eastern half of PA/northern NJ."

Shepherdstown is eastern WV. I can hear something hitting the camera. Belle is really tenting to keep the egg cup dry. What a pro she is!

JudyEddy said...

LOLLY what were the SIRENS????

Sandi said...

Belle is looking a little unusual - kind of raised up. Just sayin'

Sandi said...

She shook off and rolled the eggs - only 2 for sure. OK, off to read a book. I will see everyone in the early AM. Goodnight all!

Judie said...

Good post-dinner time.

I see poor Belle sitting in the cold and do hope any more sleet/snow will skip over the nest.

Thank you for the D.C. link JudyE. I'll give it a try.

Headed for my recliner and then the pillows.

Restful sleep for all.

Mema Jo said...

I just checked and mumbrella is doing very well.

Going to watch Major Crimes that has come on for the new season.

I'll be checking the cam
I think it is a 2 egg clutch - we'll know better in the morning.....

IF I don't get back - Goodnight to all
Stay inside if you can -
Thinking of Kathryn and hope she got home safely.
Prayers for all our needs ♥

Mema Jo said...

Lot of flapping hopefully got the icy mess off of her feathers.

stronghunter said...

Stopping in to wish everyone good night. SED.

Lolly said...

Do not know hat the sirens were, heard them on the cam. About the same time heard the beep beep of a truck backing up.

Watched TV tonight. But have watched Belle all evening, too! She has really done a lot of shaking off...big time! And, she has not tucked and slept. Makes one wonder! Have seen only the two eggs!

Night all! SED!

Lolly said...

Hat is supposed to be "what"!

Mema Jo said...

Lolly, I don't think Belle can tuck her head with her wings in the Mumbrella position.

Just need to get through this cold cold icy night!
She can do it!

Headed to bed - Nite

WVJerry said...

Good morning. Looks like two eagles in nest. Icy mess here this morning. Have a great day and take care all.

Sandi said...

Goodorming my eagle friends. I se only 1 eagle in the nest - Belle based on the way she is tenting over those eggs. I don't hear ice hitting the cam so I'm guessing it has turned to rain in Shepherdstown. At least I hope so.

We are at 49 degrees going up to 55 with rain all day.

Periodontist appointment for me today for a cleaning.

Prayers for all the needs on this blog - Dana's dad, Kay's friend Ernie, the family of Lolly's friend Marion, special prayers for Jo, and for anyone else that I missed. Have a greyt day all.

Sandi said...

As the nest has gotten lighter, it looks like there is a coating of ice on it. Belle appears to have a little ice on her outspread wing feathers. Like Jerry said, an icy mess.

stronghunter said...

Good morning,

Oh it is a good thing our eagles are tough birds. It almost looks like he/she could get frozen to the nest. Good thing our eagle is strong. Looks quite displeased.

stronghunter said...

It is pouring rain here and very icy, though I think the temperature is a bit above freezing.

stronghunter said...

I think that is Belle.

Linda said...

Good Morning to Jerry, Sandi and Shirley.....and those who follow!

You are right, Shirley, it is a frozen mess in that nest and my first reaction was, Oh My......those poor eagles!

Even though it is still 32° degrees there now.........there is hope!! It will be dry and even some sunshine this afternoon!!
The rest of the week looks pretty good as well, so hopefully they will dry out and have some more normal conditions.

It is warmer here than in WV right now! We are up to 46° already, very windy and lots of rain........possibly turning back to snow again by this evening. Our driveway is like a sheet of ice still. Schools are closed. I know I have said it before, but this winter has has some CRAZY weather!!

stronghunter said...

Food delivery. A fish. Squealing from Belle. She is munching while Shep is on the eggs. The two eggs looked safe and dry in their very deep cup.

stronghunter said...

You can see the dry places where she had her wings spread. He is not mantling.

stronghunter said...

Ice is falling on his back.

Lolly said...

Good morning! Checking in before reading the paper.

So, two eggs is the final count! Happy with that!

Had not thought of that, Jo! Duh! Of course, no tucking when mumbrelling.

Looks so cold and miserable!

I'll be back. Gotta have my coffee.

stronghunter said...

Belle has been standing there for some time. Hard to tell what is going on. I guess she flapped her wings to dry them.

stronghunter said...

She has not moved for some time--at least the part of her I can see.

stronghunter said...

Okay, not she is moving and looking for more food, I would say. I would be immobilized for longer than that after sitting there in the ice for so long.

stronghunter said...

I meant to say "now" she is moving.

stronghunter said...

I think he is keeping an eye on Shep.

stronghunter said...

She is keeping an eye on Shep.

stronghunter said...

She is now moving back onto the eggs. Shep has poofed. She never did leave the nest.

stronghunter said...

I think she would appreciate another fish. She finished that other one off in short order.

Good Tuesday morning to one and all.

I check in to find my sis hob-nobbing with the big wigs! Jk what a lovely compliment JudyE!
Its my Tuesday off and I have a lunch date with a gal pal…and a date with paperwork….need to crunch tax numbers. Should not be difficult, just time consuming.
It was a rainy cold and dreary day here yesterday. Its still mostly cloudy, but I saw a peek of sun a few min ago. It is currently 46 here. 60’s by the weekend. Planning on grilling out on Saturday!!!
I am really hoping we stay at 2 eggs. Its such a heartbreak when something has happened to #3. 
I am hoping everyone has a lovely day. Thinking of each of you, holding you close for healing, comfort, and love. (((HUGS))) to all!

I read back to the discussion about the President and First Lady and their nest in DC. The link to their nest is available via Channel 7 in DC--WJLA.

Good Tuesday morning Jo, Shirley, Jerry,Linda, Sandi, Lolly, Janet, and all other eagle friends out there. What a miserable few days it has been for Belle and Shep. At least here on the OBX is is only rain and wind for the past two days.
It did stop raining for a bit late in the afternoon yesterday. So glad to read where breakfast was served at the nest already, and all looks as well as it can be there. Jo, we are going to have to get them Tough Old Bird shirts! :) They have sure earned them as each year goes by.

carolinabeachmom said...

Shirley, checked in this am to see the DC nest. It seems like a well set up one as far as seeing the nest. Rain there too. No nest can ever compare to our nest at NCTC in Shepherdstown as far as I am concerned and the people blogging and the NCTC camera workers are the best!

Judie said...

Good morning.

Looks to be Belle tending her egglets. Also looks like rain/sleet. So anxious for warm and dry weather.

Thank you to those who provided links to the DC eagles. Now have the site bookmarked. Adult was providing mumbrella protection from the rain this morning.

Rain and fog at my abode. Laundry on today's agenda.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Judy - Happy Retirement! Enjoy!

I was happy to see a photo on FB of our 2 egg clutch! Thanks for your photo on Eaglet Momsters FB page, Sandi.
Judy - thanks for keeping photos in our Yahoo Eaglet Momsters site. I wish more would look at those pictures even though you put them on FB.

Blood work at Noon! At least it isn't at midnight to see Dracula.....

Lolly great about your ability to lose those pounds. I am holding steady even though my eating habits at times aren't the greatest. I am hungry for another piece of my apple pie.

Well I'm sure Kay is looking for me - I best publish my comments.......lol

What a wet eagle! I am sure she is longing for sunshine! Have it here. 60 and heading up!

Need to go dry my hair and head to the local vampire. Clinic has a very close office, thankful for that!

Think I will loan my hair dryer to Belle, it will then be a feather dryer!

Lolly said...

Good Jo! Glad you are holding steady with the weight! Prayers for you, your blood tests, and general good all over feeling!

I watched the report on the DC nest. I was interested to see that they think they have the first and only HD cam on a nest. And the reporter commenting on the nest did not know what the eagle was doing when he/she was rolling the eggs. They will learn. They also have a chat room at certain times; one request was that people not get involved in posting about other nests, so that part of the organization realizes there are other nests out there. I am just happy to see that we have a nest cam in DC and I am sure they will become much better informed as time passes.

stronghunter said...

Rain and fog here as well, Judie.

stronghunter said...

Still lots of snow on the ground here. School is closed again today. It was very icy this morning.

stronghunter said...

I do remember the St. Elizabeth's eagles, Judie. Not sure what happened to that nest. I hope those eagles are safely brooding eggs somewhere nearby. Guess they could possibly be The President and The First Lady.

Good Morning Eagle Buds!!!

We had more snow overnight, but not enough to hamper travel. I'll get out this afternoon for a bone density test and the usual stop at Kroger. The warming trend some of you have mentioned is beginning here as well.

A dear neighbor brought me a bouquet of gorgeous red tulips yesterday. He's a caterer and these flowers were part of a Valentine's Day party. I get leftovers from his events every now and then--most welcome--I don't mind hand-me-downs at all!

JUDY, Happy First Day of Retirement and the beginning of a new and wonderful phase of life for you. Now you're free to roam far and wide visiting Florida's eagle nests, gardening, joining clubs, lunching and more with friends and last, but not least, enjoying your children and granddaughter---in other words, living life to the fullest. Nice to have that lifetime discount privilege, too!

Ernie's daughter reports some progress---he's been up walking and going to Physical Therapy. With exercise and the good nutrition available at The Manor, he may just triumph over the setback caused by the fall--he's strong willed and has met many past challenges with true grit. Thanks again for prayers and positive thoughts!

I'll be bookmarking and enjoying our D.C. eagles, too. It's great to know our National bird is well represented in our Capitol.

Prayers for all in need!!!

P.S. You were so right, JO. You showed up while I was doing a little editing...enjoy your piece of the pie!

PLEASE AND THANK YOU

JudyEddy said...

zoom is back

Sandi said...

Hi all. I see the cam zoomed back in at 2pm. From reading this morning's comments, it sounds like no one has seen a 3rd egg so it looks like we're at a 2-egg clutch for this year. Works for me! Looks like Shep egg-sitting, based on the space he takes up in the egg cup.

Periodontist visit went very well. She sees no need for any kind of gum surgery - laser or otherwise. Just keep doing what I'm doing. It was a 50 minute drive to Salisbury with pouring rain and wind the whole time there and back. It has now stopped raining but we're far from seeing any blue skies yet!

Mema Jo said...

Emailing IT as to when to expect this long range view after the Cam Tour
until 5:00pm

Judie said...

Good afternoon.

Eagle tucking flugg around to keep cold air away. Good to see no snow or sleet.

Jo, blood work over so did you get a treat with lunch? Maybe a piece of apple pie? An ice cream cone? Happy for your bright blue sky. Not so much here, yet.

Shirley, I must apologize as Lynn and I emailed and called so much I forgot you also were active in trying to save the hospital nest habitat. It was a meaningful time. Did have to chuckle at the reporters not knowing what the DC eagle was doing and trying to explain. I also wonder if the current Arboretum pair might be the same. The areas are not so far apart.

Kay, how nice of your neighbor to bring you red tulips. So pretty and unexpected this time of year. Hoping Ernie continues to improve -- he needs a "tough old bird" shirt. I'm sure the bone density test will have good results.

JudyE, happy first official day of retirement. Enjoy today and the future.

## After the Cam Tour until =======5:00 or 6:00pm - which?

Daylight savings time is March 13, 2016 (We spring ahead 1 hr)
Our first possible hatch of 35 days would be 3/13.

I had requested until 5pm
Someone has suggested 6 pm

Think about it and let me know.

Oh my goodness, Judie, I do not need an apology. Many of us were active in that effort.

Hey, I saw a moment of sunshine at the nest. Just a moment. Yay for sunshine.

stronghunter said...

You and Hedgie were certainly working beautifully together. You deserve that credit.

stronghunter said...

I think it is good to have wide view until dark. I see that we are zoomed in now. We were wide for awhile.

Mema Jo said...

Only wide during Cam Tour until 2 pm

Lolly said...

Yes, time for a new thread!

Great to see sunshine at the nest.

Really does not matter to me, Jo. 5 or 6, both would be great!

Have been running errands, getting the trailer ready for a trip next week. So ready!

71 and think I am going to put my grubbies on and head outside!

I bet Belle is happier to see the sunshine than the rest of us are! The sun has returned here as well but boy, what a drenching!

Jo, I don't have an opinion about when to have the camera zoom back in each afternoon/evening. Your call. Just so we're zoomed in all the time as of pip-watching time, around 3/13.

I just read on Facebook that the West Virginia legislature will be voting this week on a bill that would eliminate the subsidies given to the greyhound racing industry in the state. If the bill passes and the money goes to the state's General Fund instead, it's almost guaranteed that the 2 tracks there will shut down. Janey says, "Hooray to that!!!" Greyhound Pets of America - Delaware has brought back 12 dogs from West Virginia in the past 3 months and all 12 have found forever homes. Five more will be coming to DE at the end of this month.

Anyone else lose the live cam? This happens to me every night at about this time. Screen goes black and I get the "sorry ..." message. Last night I got it back again right away. Not tonight. I've tried using Chrome and Firefox.

I've just returned from Dinner with youngest son and wife. Hot roast beef open faced sandwiches. Very tender and good.

Judie I get Apple pie tomorrow!

I put up the Outdoor cam and all is well. Sandi I don't know your mystery about
the cam... wish it didn't happen to you. Hoping you got it back up.
Well about 4 of my eagle buds lost the cam at 6:07pm - before the IR came on. Yours
was 6:14pm - It's not your PC. When I lose it I have to cold boot and then turn it back on. I am still using Firefox. Sometimes the live feed buffers but I usually can get it started again by clicking on GO LIVE by the red bar.

Good evening. Looks like Belle and Shep made it through the bad weather none the worse. I watched some at work. Only have seen two eggs today. Supposed to warm up some and hopefully the groundhog predictions starts to take effect. Have a peaceful night. I will check in early tomorrow.

Judie said...

Dinner over. Scullery restored to order. Darth is napping. I'm headed to my recliner.

Jo, enjoy that apple pie tomorrow.

I also lose the live cam and did so about 5:30-6:00pm. All is okay now. Belle, I think, is tucked in for the night.

Hope Kay's test today was a-okay. Glad Sandi's dental was good.

Shirley, you and all those who worked to save the hospital nest deserve appreciation.

Wishing everyone a night of restful sleep.

It looks like all is quiet at our nest; no rain, no precip. and eagle resting comfortably in nest. Boy that nest sure looks good without any snow, ice, or rain. We finally got the sun to come out later in the afternoon here. Was hoping the same for the nest. Maybe this will be the last bad weather for them to sit through. Come on spring.

Everyone have a good night; restful and peaceful. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a wonderful sun shiney day for our nest. Prayers for all in need.

Good evening,

We just got back from Franconia. Rus called this afternoon requesting our help with packing. His house has sold and he has to be out before tomorrow afternoon. The furniture is a removed with the exception of a sofa that one of his friends is supposed to pick up. He wanted help packing the kitchen items and his bathroom stuff, so we went up there and got busy. He still has a lot to do--all of those little loose ends that take so much longer than you expect. He will be busy.

It reminded me of the time we moved from Ohio. Because my husband was a government employee, the government paid movers to do our packing, which was a good thing since the twins were newborns. My husband was smoking his pipe and laid it on the kitchen counter. Big mistake. When he came back, it had been packed. A lit pipe. Fortunately it did not cause a fire.

And, when we unpacked, we found among the carefully wrapped items several of those little twist-tie thingies you use to fasten bread wrappers. If it was there, it was packed. Having just given birth to twins after having been on bed rest for a month, there were things I just couldn't do. It was a busy time.

Conowingo is a great place to see eagles, Judy. The Momsters went there once. I took along Kathryn and Hunter that day.

stronghunter said...

Yes, I hope Kay's test was okay and happy that Sandi's dental visit went well.

And, Judie, I hope you have restful sleep tonight as well.

Hunter's school is on a delayed opening tomorrow. I expect there will be some ice from melting snow. I won't mind sleeping in a bit.

SED, everyone.

welp, still up so thought i'd post a note. I think the sandperson is lost tonight.....

had lunch with a dear friend today. she lives about 40 miles away and so we don't get to see each other too often, work, families, etc. we sat in Panera bread, ate lunch and chatted for 2 hours, and likely could have gone on for a couple more if didn't have to take Olivia to tutoring this evening!!!

love friendships like that. you just pick back the next time you get together. it is nourishment for the spirit!

its been a couple of chilly wet days. although temps have been "normal" the rain has been bone chilling. some sun would be welcomed.

I notice my tulips are up a couple of inches now. nice green growth! daffodils are up much higher. I think in the next couple of weeks I might see blooms on them!

good night to all!

Lolly said...

Just peeked in on Belle! All is well, she is sound asleep!

Nite all! SED!

WVJerry said...

Good morning. I see a sleeping eagle in nest now. Warmer today. Talk later and take care all.

Sandi said...

Goodorming all. Back to work for me today and an extra dog to potty and feed so I'm short on time.

Haven't even opened the live cam but I'm glad to know that others are also losing their live feed around 6pm each evening. Very strange.

Have agreyt day all!

good morning all. shortly after I posted last night, I heard a sound, and sure enough, that sandperson was tip toeing past my door....it took some bribes but I finally received a shot of sleepy dust and slept! :)

hope everyone has a wonderful day. its warming up here and we might see the sun (gasp!) for more than 10 seconds. its soggy wet out that would very much be appreciated.

see ya'll later!

Good early morning.

Adult in the nest looking around. All seems quiet.
DC eagle tucking flugg.
Berry babies covered.
Mei and Bei Bei outside tree climbing/tussling.
Overcast today. Supposed to be warmer.
Off to get my "do" did.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good Wednesday morning to everyone! The sun is finally shining on the OBX. I hope it is shining in your place as well.

One eagle in nest and wind is still blowing. Don't see any sun, but hopefully it will come out sooner than later. Eagle pulling flugg up around her front to keep eggs warm. They sure are troopers. Up she gets and is working inside the egg cup with the flugg. I can hear birds singing off in the distance. Still working with the flugg. I could only see 2 eggs before she wiggled, wiggled back down on them. She is still pulling flugg around her sides now. She might have rolled the eggs, but I missed it.

carolinabeachmom said...

I don't see any evidence of breakfast served yet. Hopefully that is yet to come OR maybe they totally ate every last bit earlier. Headed out for some coffee.

glo said...

Don't throw any snowballs at me BUT I definitely do not want a 3rd egg now. Way too late for any little one to compete with these 2 siblings now. Just prayers for a good year for our nest. I may head to the marina one more morning.Warm temps later in the week is going to move what we do have here north I am surng Enjoy your day.

carolinabeachmom said...

Eagle is up and head down in egg cup, fixing the flugg, rolling eggs and sitting back down and getting comfortable.

stronghunter said...

Good morning,

Nice and sunny here today.

I see our eagle in a snow-free nest. :)

stronghunter said...

Enjoy your visit to the hairdresser, Judie.

I agree, Glo. Let's have a 2-egg season this time.

It's always nice when you can bribe the Sandperson, Janet. I slept well after packing a bunch of boxes for Rus. I will be thinking of him today, as he still has work to do. Some things you really cannot do for another person, things like deciding which toothbrush to pack and where to put things you cannot identify.

One thing we did for him--when we got up there, I called and asked if he wanted anything form the local Roy Rodgers, and he responded with an emphatic "Yes!!!" Guess he was very hungry.

carolinabeachmom said...

Eagle up and working in cup. Egg roll and back down.

Hey got something I want to share I just read over on FB in regards to eaglets bonking in nest With E8 drama on the nest

Here it is

""
David Eppley Photography
1 hr ·
I've seen a few comments and have heard a few things about what was going on at the cam page for Harriet's nest. I steer clear of that silliness, although I have my opinions, too, especially about human intervention in the lives (and deaths) of wildlife.
On that topic, I have drawn some interesting conclusions through my years of experience and observations of multiple eagles' nests. I have never witnessed, nor heard from any witnesses of sibling rivalry or "bonking" that happen at nests without cams. I believe this violent behavior must be directly related to having a cam on the nest. I'm not sure if the violent behavior is a result of the electrical interference from the cameras on the developing eaglet's brains, or possibly from the eaglets trying to impress the networks and get their own reality show. In either case, the cams should be shut down immediately and all human interference in these sweet gentle bird's lives should be halted.""""

first of all how does he know about the wild and others if they are in the wild How do they see them

Good morning! Lol. Now that is funny! I think that was stated with "tongue in cheek"! Really funny!

Another beautiful day here. Going to spend the afternoon in the yard.

Just got a good peek at our beautiful eggs. With this close up cam you can really see the large size. Can hardly wait til we are searching for pips! And then little bobbleheads!

No BB game last night. Our Joseph is sick. He stayed home from school Monday. Went to school yesterday, but Laurel had to go get him and return him home. Do not know about today. He has congestion, cough and is aches all over. He had flu shot so hope it is not flu! And, hoping this does not pass through the family. So far it has been a great school year with no colds!

Dreading Friday. Have yearly check up and they scheduled my appointment way too early. It is a 30 minute drive. Oh, poor me! Lol. Oh, and traffic will be bad!

Have turned down the sound on my laptop as the static is too loud. Anyone else with this problem?

JudyEddy said...

LOLLY I have had static on the cam all morning

BUT finally now I do have WIND sounds

Mema Jo said...

Good late morning to all ♥

I see our Eagles are tending their eggs - our season is going well. I did email IT late yesterday and hope he reads it before resetting the time on the Zoom - I asked him for the 6pm time and advised we would be changing our request mid march when hatching dates start. I'll keep you posted if I hear anything.

I so welcome a couple of days with milder weather. I am so ready for Spring. Janet it sounds as though you will have some flowers soon - just like Lolly does. I'll be waiting for June to get a Megan Bouquet ♥

There is a chance that I will meet up with Robyn and Tori when they finish testing down in Baltimore. Just depends on the time the test is finished.
Janet what you are saying about meeting friends you haven't seen for a while is so true.

Skies are bright blue with white puffy clouds - Must be the sun! Don't recognize the brightness since I haven't seen it for so long.
