Shirley, I think JROTC is a great program! Used to think it was only to brainwash young people into joining the military, but it's much more about teaching leadership skills! I'll be anxious to hear about Hunter's reaction! I have encouraged a number of the boys on my caseload to consider JROTC as their career pathway in high school.
CANDY I hope your son stays safe for his remaining time. Three levels happening there right now: The tribes are reforming allegiances. This will never be settled. Periods of allegiances is the most we can hope for. The Al-Quada factions are trying to shift power. Ben Laden's group is losing out. The Roayals in the area are also stirring the pot to make sure their support base stays solid. The Saudis are not happy with the events in the Yemen as it brings the Iranian factions to their area. They do not like each other. I am concerned because NYT said President Obama is asking for war powers from Congress. I do not know what that means. I just don't want to see US or Canadian Boots on the ground. God keep those who serve in HIS GRACE. Safe and protected.

The time I have watched JO I do not think they have been on alert as in an intruder. Not my perception...I recorded what I saw as I saw it. My take is it is not stressful day for the eagles

I keep thinking every time you post all the stuff you do with her and all things you buy for Jordyn that everyone gets to see and some might be envy of all the time you get to spend and able to spoil her with, and with us and our schedules the time we get with you works out and we are so grateful for. So keep all this in mind, we didn't mean to hurt your feelings on this.

Se an eagle in nest now. When I went by nest at around 5:48 no one was in attic. Wss sure I could see a white head in nest. Maybe some one was watching then and can confirm. I'm not going to get eggscited tonight until around dark. Calling for cold weather starting tomorrow AM and some frozen(?) precip. Ususally about dark I lose Live Feed. Right now Cam seems to be "freezing"...goona eat soon but will try and watch as eating permits. On desktop - Cam runs about 10 seconds and I need to start all over. I see nest MT now.

Back from the JROTC program. It was quite informative. They had a number of seniors speak, and at the end they brought up a sophomore and some freshmen. They all did well, but you could certainly see the difference between the confidence levels of the seniors and the younger students.
We had Marine Corps JROTC in Culpeper. The Spotsylvania Schools have Army JROTC. Hunter is thinking he would like to join the Air Force. Of course, he still has years to go before he has to make up his mind.
I agree, Sandi and Hoda. I thought the program was good for the kids, so I've encouraged Hunter to consider it. He was happy to see several of his friends at the program.
Had to sneak out and let Kathryn into the building. She arrived late and was locked out, so she texted me. Fortunately, I had the phone muted but saw the message come in. Hunter was constantly looking for his mom, so I was very happy to see her.
and the ironic thing is Angie asked if I could come up with an idea to decorate the golf cart they are taking (which is FIL/MIL) There is a contest and a golf cart parade I almost said its like someone asking you to throw the bridal shower and not invited to the wedding

That rascal Hunter got my chocolate pie out of the refrigerator this evening while I was napping and ate it! It was "free pie Wednesday" at the O'Charley's restaurant in town, and I brought mine home. Guess I should have hidden it in my refrigerator upstairs. Actually, he did me a favor because I don't need those calories, but I still had to give him a hard time about it.
Sitting with him and his buddies at the presentation tonight was interesting. There was a group of boys who did not seem to accompanied by adults sitting in our area. Quite a group it was. I wasn't unhappy when Hunter wanted his mom next to him. She got to have the fun of shushing him and redirecting his attention.

Sandi Congratulations to you for taking a day off after 31 years. I was only an assistant for 30 years and was always on spot and doing what was to be done. I am now retired, missing the children greatly, but when I sit back and think of all I did my teacher and the children, I should have taken a sick day now and again. Enjoy your day off.

Tried to put in the cabinet shelves. I got the lower one in, but I'm going to ask Hunter to take care of the upper one. He is taller and stronger. I felt a bit insecure standing on a chair and trying to balance that shelf, so I got down.
I can usually count 4 jays here. There are a couple of titmice that try to get their share of peanuts as well. I know the titmice can get peanuts and other seeds from the regular feeders. The blue jays are too heavy.
It looks to me like they are watching both directions! Maybe with all the HP going on the last few days, they will have boo koos of eggs for you JO! :)
Once they get over their "feud", maybe they will settle down and get on with the laying of the eggs. :)

HODA, so sorry about the nasty head cold! My own remedy for the occasional cold is lots of fluids, Vitamin C and Ibuprofen. Cold remedies are like potato salad or meatloaf---every person has their own version of what's best! Your advice for JUDY was priceless---keeping a sense of humor through such trials and tribulations is key! I would add the possibility of a mani-pedi or a massage therapy session to the list of "pampers"!
JUDY, so glad you're lunching with Angie. Having a face to face is so much better than e-mail messages. You and Angie love each other so much---this little kerfuffle will not interfere with that, I'm sure!♥♥♥
The day is getting away from me and I don't know why. I haven't even had lunch yet--think I'll make it my "big" meal of the day and have something light this evening. I love Thursday nights with Dr. Martin--Tuesday and Wednesday night TV is the pits for me, but I'll be a happy camper tonight.

Seeing snowflakes fly during a school day reminds me of being at the middle school on such a day. Bob, the math teacher in the next room, liked to feed the developing frenzy by telling the students that the buses were lining up to take them home.
Shirley, that was mean of him. In my Kindergarten class, we used to throw our hats, coats, and mittens on and head for the playground to they could run around in it and enjoy. I was right there with them, as I was the assistant and not the teacher. We had great fun and didn't stay out long.
The kids figured him out pretty quickly--all they had to do was look out the window and see whether the buses were there. I expect it got harder to convince the high school kids when we moved over to their building. I wasn't next to him anymore, so I'm not sure.
CANDY, I agree with you---she's longing for to hatch! It's so nice to have you here more frequently! I love hearing/reading all the teacher stories. I've had many teachers in my family--the three currently are college profs and they come up with some amazing tales of life with young adults! God bless you all whether retired or still working with kids!

Lynne2 - I have same problems as you on PC.I think it has to do with needing a faster computer or a faster internet connection...just a guess.

Back from the JROTC program. It was quite informative. They had a number of seniors speak, and at the end they brought up a sophomore and some freshmen. They all did well, but you could certainly see the difference between the confidence levels of the seniors and the younger students.
We had Marine Corps JROTC in Culpeper. The Spotsylvania Schools have Army JROTC. Hunter is thinking he would like to join the Air Force. Of course, he still has years to go before he has to make up his mind.
I agree, Sandi and Hoda. I thought the program was good for the kids, so I've encouraged Hunter to consider it. He was happy to see several of his friends at the program.
Had to sneak out and let Kathryn into the building. She arrived late and was locked out, so she texted me. Fortunately, I had the phone muted but saw the message come in. Hunter was constantly looking for his mom, so I was very happy to see her.
Thinking of you Judy...can you take the opportunity to do something special for yourself while the others are off camping?

That rascal Hunter got my chocolate pie out of the refrigerator this evening while I was napping and ate it! It was "free pie Wednesday" at the O'Charley's restaurant in town, and I brought mine home. Guess I should have hidden it in my refrigerator upstairs. Actually, he did me a favor because I don't need those calories, but I still had to give him a hard time about it.
Sitting with him and his buddies at the presentation tonight was interesting. There was a group of boys who did not seem to accompanied by adults sitting in our area. Quite a group it was. I wasn't unhappy when Hunter wanted his mom next to him. She got to have the fun of shushing him and redirecting his attention.
Ah, Judy. Cold and wet for you is not the same as cold and wet for us. I hope you can find a fun movie or something to do. :)

Wondering what kind of weather tomorrow will bring. There has been some mention of a wintery mix. That might mean school delays. I do remember hoping for that announcement. Not so exciting any more, though it can be nice to sleep in.

My Internet is down this morning. Finally got through to Verizon. Finally got a real person. Why do I have TV, but no phone and no Internet? Well, it has to do with a box in some location. As I hung up, I heard the person say, "I'm so confused." So was I.

Sandi Congratulations to you for taking a day off after 31 years. I was only an assistant for 30 years and was always on spot and doing what was to be done. I am now retired, missing the children greatly, but when I sit back and think of all I did my teacher and the children, I should have taken a sick day now and again. Enjoy your day off.

Bunches of snow falling here now. I am very glad I am not in a schoolhouse where everyone will be going nuts. :)
My phone says it is 35 degrees, so it will need to snow pretty hard before there is much accumulation, but I think it is supposed to get colder.
I have already been hollered at by the blue jays and have put out the required peanuts.
Tried to put in the cabinet shelves. I got the lower one in, but I'm going to ask Hunter to take care of the upper one. He is taller and stronger. I felt a bit insecure standing on a chair and trying to balance that shelf, so I got down.

My Jays have been abundant - almost
6 of them each morning waiting for peanuts.
Do they holler at you Jo? They are saucy things.
I am off the chair. Hunter is very good at doing "manly" things for me.
I can usually count 4 jays here. There are a couple of titmice that try to get their share of peanuts as well. I know the titmice can get peanuts and other seeds from the regular feeders. The blue jays are too heavy.
Our eagles are sitting back-to-back in the nest. No one in the egg cup right now.

HODA, so sorry about the nasty head cold! My own remedy for the occasional cold is lots of fluids, Vitamin C and Ibuprofen. Cold remedies are like potato salad or meatloaf---every person has their own version of what's best! Your advice for JUDY was priceless---keeping a sense of humor through such trials and tribulations is key! I would add the possibility of a mani-pedi or a massage therapy session to the list of "pampers"!
JUDY, so glad you're lunching with Angie. Having a face to face is so much better than e-mail messages. You and Angie love each other so much---this little kerfuffle will not interfere with that, I'm sure!♥♥♥
The day is getting away from me and I don't know why. I haven't even had lunch yet--think I'll make it my "big" meal of the day and have something light this evening. I love Thursday nights with Dr. Martin--Tuesday and Wednesday night TV is the pits for me, but I'll be a happy camper tonight.

Seeing snowflakes fly during a school day reminds me of being at the middle school on such a day. Bob, the math teacher in the next room, liked to feed the developing frenzy by telling the students that the buses were lining up to take them home.
Just saw HP in our nest.
That was vigorous, ending with Belle shaking Shep off as in "get off my back"! One of these times it just has to take!

Shirley, that was mean of him. In my Kindergarten class, we used to throw our hats, coats, and mittens on and head for the playground to they could run around in it and enjoy. I was right there with them, as I was the assistant and not the teacher. We had great fun and didn't stay out long.
KAY I think she has had enough fooling around and wants to get on with her egg laying. :)

The kids figured him out pretty quickly--all they had to do was look out the window and see whether the buses were there. I expect it got harder to convince the high school kids when we moved over to their building. I wasn't next to him anymore, so I'm not sure.

CANDY, I agree with you---she's longing for to hatch! It's so nice to have you here more frequently! I love hearing/reading all the teacher stories. I've had many teachers in my family--the three currently are college profs and they come up with some amazing tales of life with young adults! God bless you all whether retired or still working with kids!
