Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. I am so glad I stumbled onto this blog. You are all so very caring and thoughtful. Thank you again. Now bring on the cake!

Remember when we could eat cake and not worry about where it went or what it was going to do to us? Ah, life.

♫♪ Happy Birthday to you, SUZAN ♪♪♪, and many more ♥ !!!

SHAR, we're on it ! Prayers for Alice and hoping it's nothing serious !

ANDY, you've lucked on to a great care giver for Emma ! Wish Julie and I could find such a person/place so that we could leave our dogs and go away at the same time !

JANET, you and HODA are so active--I remember those years, but now I get tired and need a nap just reading about your busy lives !

MARGY, glad you got your ungardening done. I will have to tend to that job soon, though it's minimal for me with only a deck to care for. We got an inch of the white stuff overnight, but it's not going to stick for long--going from a high of 38 today to the 50's for the rest of the week. This snow is four weeks ahead of the norm according the the weather guys. Ugh !

Love and prayers for all in need !

Goody afternoon to all. I've been really busy the last few days but have managed to skim the blog to see what's up
Happy Birthday to Suzanne

Sorry about the theft Shirley.

Looked for Veteran's Day parade on cable yesterday but no luck. Think I just have localFox stations and their news station. Veterans in my family go back each generation to Spanish American War and earlier. My house was the only one on the block to fly the flag...

A lot of the overnight snowfall has melted...lots of feeder birds but nothing unusual.

Prayers for all.

Home from the dentist. I am so thankful I changed dentists last spring. He is so kind, so gentle, so caring. That last dentist traumatized me!!!!

Happy Birthday Suzan!!! Enjoy your 11/12/13 birthday!!!

Have something to share. School district here adopted a program and all over the area you see signs "Kindness Matters" You see it as yard signs, church and other marques...everywhere! It started last year. Well, an individual has nailed a sign to a tree in his yard, I see it on the way home from town and it offends me, "Kindness Sucks". I think I will go out some night and tear it down!!!Grrrr!

Lolly said...

Kay read where you are starting back to your walking. We still "walk" on days we are not working in the yard. Good for you! We do not watch the TV screen. Jack looks out and hopes to see birds at the bird feeders and I watch cams...eagles or panda cubs!

Hi,

Can't get into my mailbox via computer. Yahoo says they have noticed unusual activity and have locked it. They want me to enter a new password.

I'm going to check things out before I do anything more. I can get into it on my phone, but that was unavailable for awhile this morning.

Anyone else having problems?

I was asked today if I wanted to work in the office Something like I use to do at the store before we moved and became a supercenter
I had to decline
Would have been nice to work in the office again but I must admit it hurts my neck to much to sit at a computer all day and file
I did have to wear my collar quite often when I worked the office so I think I made the right decision

One load of laundry and some piddly stuff here tonight

Might have seen a couple flakes flying around today...

stronghunter said...

Paula, did you just follow the instructions on the notification that they posted? Kathryn was suspicious that it might be someone trying to get my password.

There seems to be a problem with the e-mail on my phone, too.

Hoda, the appointment that we had to attend was today. Things went well.

I had a good practice with my new bowling ball this afternoon. I got new shoes, a new bag, and a new glove as well. Expensive, but I want to keep bowling.

I decided to try a lighter ball, and it seems to be a good call.

Hi, Gang,
Getting here kinda late today, but at least I'm not asleep in front of the TV! Emma and I did nap a lot today, though.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SUZAN!! Hope it's been a really special day for you!

Shar, prayers for Kelsey's Mom, Alice.

Shirley, Hope your new bowling ball turns out to be even better than the other one!

Lolly, I'm so glad you've found a dentist that you really like!

Kay, look for a PetSmart PetsHotel in your area. I like ours because there's someone there 24/7, there's a vet on the premises, and they all seem to really care about Emma. This one has at least 4 pages of info about Emma in their computer now.

Well, I need to get busy and pay a couple of bills online before Tuesday night TV. The porch light is on, and I've enabled both security systems. Have SED, everyone. Goodnight, and God bless. I love all of you! I ♥ us!!

Good Morning everyone!

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. I wasn't feeling well. Woke up with a headache and just felt barfy. Went to Clinical anyway. You don't want to miss any days because you have to make up all the hours you missed for any reason.

NCSUZAN, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! Glad it was a great one for you. We got about 2 1/2 inches of snow night before last, and another inch last night. It's a little icy out there this morning.

Had two new-to-me patients yesterday and will have them again today. Really enjoyed them, but one of my favorites had another stroke and is in the hospital. Pray she did not lose any movement or senses.

I have been watching 3 little kittens this morning. They were born late in the season to one of the semi-wild moms around here. They are adorable...so fluffy and about half was wide as they are long. Too cute. Greeting card kittens.

Time to get a move on...running behind this morning.

Hope everyone has a great and safe day with lots of love and smiles!

I LOVE US!

Good morning Lori and all my eagle friends! Cold and windy here in Bethany this morning - feels like winter.

Shirley, glad you like the new bowling ball - I hope it came filled with strikes and spares!

Lori, do you feel better today? I know what you mean about not wanting to miss time but you also don't want to pass anything along to any of your folks at the care facility.

Am doing battle with the furniture company that delivered the defective TV console last Friday. They're saying I have to accept it after they've fixed what's wrong, or they will charge me the shipping and a 25% restocking fee, which comes to almost half the cost of the furniture! I don't think so - spent last night writing letters to the NY Attorney General's office, the BBB, and called the credit card company that we used to pay for it and they are disputing the charge.

Prayers for Dana's dad, both Norms, Michael, and Kelsey's mom for a quick prognosis and recovery.

Wearing my new sneakers to school today - they really make me smile! Have a good one!

good mid week morning friends.
Belated but heart felt bday wishes to SUZAN!
KAY: trust me If I ihad a choice, I would likely not be sooo busy. I miss reading at this point and other things I’d like to do…but we do what we must.
Someone asked me about BEANO’s bark collar: what he wears is not a bark collar, but a keep me in the yard because of the invidible fence collar and THAT works great. I have a correction collar for the heelers and it has worked well. I don’t use it on a regular basis.
STRONGHUNTER: so glad you were able to get new bowling equipment. That had to be so frustrating….someone stealing bowling stuff. REALLY?
It is cold this a.m. 25. We had snow flurries yesterday morning. Quite pretty .
Had the meeting at sylvan learning center. Olivia will be evaluated Sat a.m. and I think we will give this a try. Less expensive than I had anticipated, but hopefully it will do the trick. A private tutor would cost at least as much …. No contract so we can stop services at any point if we deem necessary.

JudyE: think you made the right choice. A desk job sounds good in theory, and they were likely trying to help, but your neck would prohibit that, unless they are able/willing to make special accommodations, such as ergnonmically correct stations, etc at an angle that would work for you….and likely that is not the case.

Gotta get the kid to school! Love to all!

Good morning all you early risers on here. I just got the class to Spanish and now am cheating to see what you are all up to. No snow here on the Outer Banks but inland saw a little bit in places.

COLD, COLD COLD, tho. Finally had to turn the heat on last night after we came back from a FFHS soccer game. It was soooo cold and the wind was howling. It felt like a football game when I was a kid up in New York. Our team won and goes on to Raleigh for the State Championship, so we are all excited.

Just wanted to check in and say Hi to all the old and new momsters. Hope to be on here more often this season. AND THEN always when I retire at the end of this school year. I am in my 30th year in Kindergarten as an assistant, and I think it is time they had a younger assistant. I hope you are planing some get together this spring or next fall. Would love to come and see everyone.

About time to get the kids, so checking out for now. All take care, keep warm and have a wonderful day!

Good morning! Boy do we have our work cut out for us now. 28 this morning, but now up to 40. Everything froze and now a clean up is due!! Waaaaaa! No more watering pots for this year!

Trying to figure out how to split screens on this laptop. I right click at the bottom to show both windows but that is not working. Gotta figure that one out.

Sandi, so sorry about the furniture problems. Missed your comment about something being wrong with it, but knew you had ordered something else. Good luck with your fight with them!

Candy!!!! Great to see you on here! Yes, it is time to let the younger ones have kinder. lol Time for you to get your life back!

Think I will do my closet exchange today. Time to get the summer things out and more sweatshirts in!! We even enjoyed a fire last night.

If my recall function is on track SANDI said the TV console was not at all what they expected---shoddy merchandise---unacceptable !

SANDI you have me my major Argggg moment for the day re:that NY company--their return and credit you account policy is also unacceptable !

LORI and JO, you gave me my aw(e) moments of the day with the kitten tales !

ANDY, thanks for the PetSmart PetHotel advice. Will check it out !

LOLLY, like you and JACK I'll not watch Leslie and the gang. I can look out front and out back from one spot near this computer. I'll be people, bird and deer watching !

JANET, hope Sylvan is THE answer for Olivia. Their ads are impressive.

SHIRLEY, glad you were able to replace the bowling equipment to your satisfaction. Yes, you do need to continue with the sport you like so much !

I'm a Yahooer and haven't had that problem, knock on wood !

CANDY, I always love it when you check in ! Hurray for your team ! Good luck in Raleigh ! Let us know the outcome.

Update on Alice, Kelsey's Mom:

They are giving her IV antibiotics. Her white count went down from yesterday to today and other blood work looked good. They believe she has some kind of inflammation in her bowels so tomorrow she is having a colonoscopy. I talked to her and she was feeling quite a bit better today. A lot more hope given today than yesterday, that is for sure. God is good all the time.

Good afternoon gang!

Cold (33) and windy here today. Wind chill in the 20's this afternoon. Got another inch of snow last night and this morning. The patients were thrilled that it had snowed and couldn't wait for us to open the curtains so they could see out.

JO, you're so right. Very hard to not get attached. So far I'm doing a crummy job at it - but that's a good thing. Not sure if I'll be allowed to go back and visit on a personal basis, but I want to. Last day there is a week from tomorrow.

SHIRLEY, I had to re-read to find out about your new bowling equipment. That's so awesome - you have new everything, and maybe even a better ball for you.

LOLLY, welcome to the cold. Too bad we can't program the weather. I'd make it 65 - 75 with a light breeze all the time. Just enough breeze to air out the house. :)

CANDY, great to see you on here again. Happy impending retirement.

Speaking of retirement, when is Judie going to reappear? JUDIE WE MISS YOU!

HODA, I'm going to have to buy some of that dehydrated Kale from you. I love Kale and it's so good for you, but have never had, or heard of, it dehydrated.

SANDI, major bummer about the big console. I'm so sorry. Hope you get supportive responses from all the letters you wrote.

JANET, congrats on Livvy's new tutor. I may have to rehire my math tutor, too, because that part of the year it coming up in a few weeks. YUCK - I hate math!

Oh, I'm feeling much better, like new, today. Must have been a quick bug. I almost always feel better when I start doing something, like work.

KAY, hope you're having a great and pain-free day. I know this cold weather can be rough on bone aches and pains.

SHARON, love seeing you on here. Big Hugs!

Prayers for Michael, the Norms, Kelsey's Mom.

Jack and I just had an adventure! Something was still not right with my new laptop. Took it to Best Buy where we got it and had a Geek work on it. He could not figure it out and was starting to talk exchange. He did a "refresh" and all is well now. In the mean time when he was doing all his stuff we got to browse through the store. Amazing what we are living without!! Did you know there is such as a thing as an egg tray that keeps you informed when to buy eggs. From you phone you can find out how many eggs you have. Just what everyone needs. There I was at Best Buy and did not know how how many eggs I have at home or how old they are. roflmbo

Hey I gotta ask a question?????? being I work in retail I guess I am curious if any of you guys or family does the Black Friday shopping ???
Well now again Walmart is doing it on Thanksgiving Day 6pm and 8pm are the two times they are doing guarantee items of blitz sale The odd this is you don't get the item you get a gift card with the item on it and it will be shipped to you I don't like that idea not leaving with what you bought I guess that way is the way they guarantee you get it

Lori O. said...

Interesting, JUDYE.

I'm with you - want to leave with what I bought, get it wrapped and out of the way. But, as you know, WM is the innovator when it comes to retail, so maybe other stores will soon be doing the same thing.

LOLLY, glad you had so much fun at BB. I was laughing about that talking egg thing, too. What next?

I'm closing it down for the night soon. My brain is friend. I think it will be easier to get up earlier in the morning and study.

Night all! SED and AOYP.

Big Good Night (((((HUGS))))).

Hoda said...

Well I am totally and completely and utterly shocked!
Dismayed too I might add!!! LOLLY MISS LOLLY how could you possibly go to Best Buy and not know how many eggs you have in the fridge and how fresh they are!!!
Never in my life have I heard of such a thing!!!
LOL!!!

JUDYE no one I know goes shopping on Thanksgiving or Christmas or Black Friday or Boxing Day either.
Most of us give our gift money to organizations we support in donations.

Had an awesome Yoga Practice.
Went to the hospital for an X-ray. The doctor asked me to do so last week and her office phoned to ask why I have not gone! Well she thinks I have artheritis. I do not think so. So did not have time to go to the hospital.
Well she really wanted me to follow up on it. So I did. She should get the results tomorrow. Oh well so we will see.

Warm today and there were blue skies and the sun came out for a spell. Lovely indeed. 48 degrees is the high and it is blissful just simply blissful.

Lolly said...

Hoda, you were close to our high temp today. Going down again tonight to close to freezing. Jack and I worked for a while in the yard pulling up and getting rid of periwinkles and salvia harmed by the freeze last night. My beautiful begonia and impatiens hanging baskets are goners, too. Sigh... Ferns are still green but should also show damage soon.

Good evening to all.
A very tired good evening; my brain is screaming no more! No more!
It has been a trying day with my pre teen. *sigh* this too shall pass.
JUDYE: Chelsea and chris go shopping thanksgiving night/black Friday. I went exactly once as it was the last time chris went to afganistan. That was one of the worst mistakes I have ever made and will never make it again! My opinion: there is not a darned thing on this earth that I need that badly! But most people whom I know do not go.
I really rather they not open stores on thanksgiving. I think it is crazy enough doing the black Friday thing…

Its been a pretty good day. Need to get to bed on time tonight.
I work the next 3 days…. Then Sunday off. I enjoyed yesterday and today. I only had one 30 min massage today …. Further, I received a massage today. So all is well in that department. I fell asleep (again) during the massage.
Not a lot to report. It was a cold day, high of about 42. Sunny though.

I hope everyone is well, having a great evening. Light, love, healing, smiles, and comfort to each of you! Sweet dreams!

JudyEddy said...

stronghunter said...

Oh Janet, I know what you mean about the Black Friday thing.

Susan will not have Thanksgiving with the family because she works in retail. She has to be prepared to open the store at 11:00 PM Thanksgiving night.

As manager, she schedules herself to work that night. She is planning to come down to visit on Wednesday. Glad they haven't moved the big sales to the day before Thanksgiving. Guess that could happen--cringe.

I usually do not shop on Black Friday. Sometimes Kathryn does, and I have gone with her on occasion. Last year she got a good deal on a television for her bedroom, but she went through several versions of torture to get it.

As I recall, there was a limited number of TVs and she had to stand in line until they went on sale, which meant she missed out on getting other things she would like to have had. I wonder why they did not just give out tickets for people to redeem at the appointed time. That way, they could run around and spend money on other stuff. They stood in line, guarded by Walmart employees, and blocking that section of the store. Madness.

LOLLY I would say your 32 is balmy. Sorry all your plants got hit by the freeze. I like to hold on to my potted plants as long as possible, too.

HODA, Where on earth do you find beet juice and whatever kind of juice you were drinking last night. Have you tasted your dehydrated Kale yet?

SHIRLEY, sorry Susan will not be able to join you for Thanksgiving.

I'm seeing ads for Christmas on TV and it floors me everytime because I sure don't feel like Christmas is coming up so soon.

JUDYE, enjoy your day off today! Wish it was my weekend already. :)

Need to get hopping and study for today's test on the Reproductive System, can't believe all the stuff there is to know about a uterus!

Good morning Lori and all my eagle friends!

Had 2 basal cell carcinomas removed yesterday - both on my left thigh. I was hoping the removal would be simple but no such luck - 8 stitches in each one. Doc gave me a prescription for Vicodin and antibiotics. I never fill the pain meds prescription b/c the pain is tolerable with tylenol but my thigh sure is hurting this morning. No tennis for 2 weeks for fear of busting the stitches with all the running and stretching on the court.

I never shop on Black Friday and would refuse to patronize a store that is open on Thanksgiving Day.

Janet, glad to hear that Sylvan sounds promising - hope it helps Livvy feel more confident in her math class.

Have a great day all - stay warm.

HODA: yes, layering is important. Temps are relative, aren’t they? 12 is balmy as opposed to -65.
LORI: you can rock the reproductive system! You have been doing great! Keep up the fantastic work!!!

Well I need to cut this short and get moving. I have critters to feed, a kid to rouse out of her nice snuggly bed, and me to prep for work. Woot woot! Another day!

Holding each of you close in my heart and thoughts! Have a great day!

Good beautiful morning all.

JANET you sound rested and that is good. I was worried about the go go go go thing that is happening. Pace yourself and get some sleep. Glad you had massage too. Love and Light to you.

SANDI, glad you had them removed. I am like you about the medication. Too much pain gets in the way if healing so I monitor.

LORI my vegetable choices this week were Kale, artichoke, beets, and zucchini.
I boil the beets and the artichokes separately of course. I save the water as it has lots of goodness in it.
For a treat I mix and squeeze half a lemon per cup and voila a nourishing drink. Sometimes cold some times hot and both ways are delicious.
I snack on the dehydrated Kale. I can not keep up with how fast it goes. Yummers.

Feeling rested. Slept soundly.

Today I have volunteer work for Kootenay Spirit Festival Planning Committee. I go to core yoga. I go out to lunch with a friend. I go to an evening Heary Yoga Practice.

Enjoy the day everyone.

Sandi - no thigh slapping for you!
Happy you got things taken care of but sorry about 8 stitches each....

I have NEVER shopped on Black Friday.
At my age I sure don't intend to start!
Shopping to me on Thanksgiving would ruin the entire meaning of being Thankful ♥

Good morning! Jack is out with man delivering a new load of firewood. He kept putting it off and we certainly needed it. We do go through firewood fast. We used to get our own. Remember going with Jack. He would cut and the kids and I would load. No more! Guy is even loading it into a wheelbarrow and taking it to the back. Bless him!

Meeting at church tonight but nothing else on the agenda.

Saw 32 during the night. (Love the projected temp onto the ceiling above our bed!) However, it is already up to 46.

Kay said...

Good Morning while it still is, Eagle Buds !

We have bright ☼ here today. Yeah ! Temp zooming up to 48°. I just de-leafed the deck for the umpteen time and knocked the melting icicles down so Penny and I won't get beaned on the head.

LORI, you'll do fine on the U topic, I'm sure. I'm happy to say I don't have any of that apparatus and possible cancer site anymore--not since 1991.

SANDI, it's a pain in the patoot for you, but so glad your rid of those skin cancers !!!!

I agree with you and all who've panned the retail community for T'Day shopping. One of those things we oldsters view as a sign of the decline of civility in our society ! I've never, even once, shopped on Black Friday as I hate shopping and crowds equally !

Hmmmm, Kale ! HODA, I'm not up to processing it the way you do, but love the stuff. Kale chips are now available in lieu of potato chips. I haven't found them yet, but hope, once I've read the label, that they will be a suitable snack for me.

JO, enjoy the kitty time ! Sounds like fun to me.

LOLLY, good firewood being delivered. I love a fireplace and enjoy the aroma in the neighborhood when one is in use. I don't miss the upkeep and wood purchasing, however. Too old for that now.

Missing MARGY and SHIRLEY so far today---hope all's well !

Love and prayers for all in need !

Kitty time was good - Stormy is so cute and she is as fast as lightning.
Hard to catch her to hold - VERY VERY playful with her toys. Mr Blizzard was napping but then came outside Stormy's door - Stormy cries when you leave her room... Blizzard plays with her paws under the doors.

stronghunter said...

Glad you had good kitty time, Jo. My two old cats were having an issue this afternoon. Lucky has been sleeping in the sunshine on my bedroom floor. George came along, and there was hissing and some waving of paws--I don't think they draw their claws. I broke it up with a few cat treats.

stronghunter said...

Not much of a fight if you can break it up with cat treats.

Romeo and Juliet are gorgeous ! It does my heart good to see an active nest while our dear eagles wait for their season to begin. Nice to have that Southern weather making year round eagle viewing almost possible ! Thanks JUDY n' JO !

SHIRLEY, George probably interrupted a good dream---I hate when that happens !

The NE FL cam - man oh man to have a cam like that! Would be great!

I wonder if they are doing any repair to our NCTC cam yet? I sure hope so. Just know we are missing some nestorations and HP......

Sad News that Jenny just called - she has to take Stormy back to Wash Co Humane Soc to be tested for Distemper - One of the 5 in her litter has passed.. I'm saying a little prayer for Stormy and especially Jenny. She loves her kitten and has become very attached in just 3 short days.

Thanks, JUDY, I have both sites bookmarked. I know you've been talking about both for a while, but I just got enthused about watching other nests today. The Ft. Good evening. Thought I had better give the latest on Alice, Kelsey's mom. She had the colonoscopy this morning and it showed no infection, so they still don't know where the rise in the blood count and the fever is coming from. They did, however, let her go home. She goes back to the doctor on Monday. Frustrating for sure. She is feeling a lot better though. Thanks for the prayers. They are working. :)

Good morning and just like that, its Friday! RED FRIDAY none the less!

Good day yesterday. Finally got the curtains hemmed and up in the bedroom. Work was slow for me, so I actually went home during the slow time. Came back later and gave some massages. I appreciated the opportunity to be home and complete a few things.

Michael has been in CDL school 4 weeks today. Half way done! I’ve been making sure hot cooked dinners are downstairs more nights than not as he is only working part time. Just what a mom does, I guess.

MEMA JO: kittens are fun to watch!
HODA: I have about another month of this crazy schedule. I can do this. I just have to go to bed on time and take care of myself. Part of that is receiving massage work.
MAGPIE; yes steady as she goes. Hanging tough.

Had a “reward” of sorts yesterday; paid my malpractice insurance yesterday! It is due in January, but I have been purposely working to get that done and out of the way. Next, my licensure. That was a great reward for all the work.

Two big positives to report quickly: 1. One of my Reiki students got the job she has been wanting. When I met her a couple months ago, she was depressed, etc. We’ve been chatting off and on and she saw this job that she thought would be perfect for her and she has put forth her focus, intention and has landed the job! I am so proud of her!!!
Then, another Reiki student: I saw her in the grocery store next to where I work and she was looking for a job. And now, she is happily employed at my massage envy as a front desk staff! She is thrilled and so am I!
You just never know whom you will meet or how you can help! I am about staying open and helping anyone whom I can!  And these lovely ladies helped themselves as well, and I’m all about being involved in your own healing and development! Rock on Reiki ladies!

I have to get moving. Usual morning chores to tackle. Thinking of each of you, holding you in light and love.

Mema Jo said...

Good morning to all ♥
Just got my cup of coffee - and I put my glasses on and the world looks bright. Put the peanuts and seeds out for the critters and it isn't too chilly out there. 44° and clear.

Red Friday already - time really does slip thru your fingers and the day is gone before you know it.

Have a good day Sandi - wear those fun sneakers!
I hope you surprise yourself with the exam Lori and that you know more then what you would ever believe. Thought the other day - I do miss Lori at 97.1 as I am driving. Lori I did put something on your FB page - I don't think you have seen it but it's about Nurses. Love you♥

Michael did well at Pain Management - Needs to stop the smoking as it constricts the blood vessels and could contribute to his pain. I am hoping his Medicaid will cover Chantix to help plus some exercise and better eating habits. Looks like a think rail.....
He was given a controlled prescription of a pain med. I can't imagine living each and every day with stabbing pains in your head.. I pray this could be short term but as I said it is very controlled. As always I appreciate your thoughts and Prayers.

Good Morning Eagle Buds !!!

SHAR, super news on Alice, glad she's home and feeling better. Will continue to pray for answers.

JO, poor little Stormy, all that energy pinned up for so long ! Glad Jenny will have her home for the holidays ! And, oh, dear Michael. So many challenges ahead as he tries for a new wellness way of life. Prayers !!!

JANET, love the Reiki rewards you're enjoying and SANDI, I love your TGIF exuberance. Hope you'll find plenty of fun stuff to do even if you can't play tennis this weekend !

LORI, you'll triumph over today's test--it's all right there in your smart noggin' !

No grandson time for me this weekend. Seth has discovered a good calendar of events and now realizes he's missing some great things by coming home on weekends. Tonight he'll go to an International Fair, which is right up his alley. The more on campus events he goes to, the greater that chance he'll find friends of like mind !

Penny and I are listening to the sounds of saws n' hammers today as a deck is being replaced on a nearby condo. Took her a while to get used to the fact that it's an okay thing, but she's snoozing away now.

Saying love and prayers for all now, but I may pop in on you later. That's a threat ! ☺

Hi, Gang,
Have been MIA again for a couple of days. Been SO busy!

Working this morning on de-scaling our Keurig coffee brewer.
The light has never gone on telling us to do so, but we got it for Christmas last year, and hadn't done it yet.

Still praying for Alice, Michael, and now for Stormy the kitten.

Wow, Lolly! You're sure getting some cold weather! It was above 90 here yesterday, but 20 degrees lower today. We will have cooler weather and a thick marine layer over the weekend.

Have been paying bills this morning, too. Yuck! Need to go spend some time with Emma to get in a better mood.

Have been missing Judie a lot! Does anyone know when to expect her back here? I miss her sense of humor.

Golly, I just had to run and answer our land line phone again. We have been getting as many as 15 calls a week from contractors who "are in our neighborhood" and want to improve our house somehow. I'm about to get rid of our land line! Driving me nuts!

Well, guess I'd better go get some lunch and feed Emma hers, too. Hope everyone has a wonderful Red Friday! Will try to get back here after dinner tonight. I ♥ us!!!

Mema Jo said...

Phone call to Humane Soc said that Stormy had a good night and is still doing very well. :)

Hello ladies! Hope Red and Jerry don't check in and see that.

JO, sorry to hear Stormy has to stay at the Shelter. Major bummer for the kitty. Prayers, always, for Michael. He's made a remarkable recovery. ♥

KAY, happy to hear that Seth is doing what you had hoped and spending more time on campus finding new friends. You'll always be his dear Grandmother, though.

JANET, congrats on your Reiki success stories! Bravo. Bravo! Good on you.

ANDY, that wacky California weather you talk about brings back memories. Glad it's cooler today. I know how you hate the heat.

JUDYE, I can't wait till the moment comes when you're checking out the cam at the Sycamore Palace and you see our nest. Bring it on!

Well, I don't have the test score from today, yet. Can't even remember if I had a test yesterday but I think I did. Those are rare days at school without a test. I did get a grade back for a project I worked on last month, and got a 95% - very happy with that! That's a clinical grade. Course finals are coming up within the next two weeks for Anatomy & Physiology, and Basic Nursing Skills. Funny they don't have an Intermediate Nursing Skills, you go straight to Advanced.

Yes, another busy weekend of homework and papers/reports coming up here.

Hope everyone has a great Friday night planned - something special. Janet will probably like mine - going to bed no later than 8. :)

Worked on the stream too, getting leaves out of it and the lower pond. Did not do the upper pond...forgot! Filled bird feeders, too. I am now bathed and shampooed...yard work is dirty work for sure!

Sunday is our annual dessert auction at church, so tomorrow I bake.

We have plans to go to Denton Monday. No sports right now and we have not been up there. Laurel says she has

Jordyn is having issues on staying focus with her work Her teacher is doing so much to help Angie wants her tested They went through his last year tested as one on one but that is not her issue Her issue is in a group setting and the person said she was on task which Angie and the current teacher don't agree with So hope she can get something done to help Angie has done online research and has found out lots

Good morning Judy and all my eagle friends! Rainy here but not too cold.

Jo, I hope the doctor's connection between smoking constricting blood vessels and his pain can give him the motivation to quit - it would be so much better for him on many levels!!

Lori, congrats on the 95!!

Judy, tell Angie not to worry too much about Jordyn and her focusing. After all, she is 5(?) years old for gosh sakes! Kids hit different developmental milestones at different times!! Yesterday, the girl who cuts my hair told me she took her 4 year old out of preschool for a week to go to Pittsburgh to visit family. When Jonah got back to school, the teacher gave Courtney some flak about Jonah "getting behind" by missing school!!! I said, "Courtney, it's preschool for God's sake, not his first semester of college!! I'm sure the quality time Jonah got to spend with his Grandma was WAY more valuable than worksheets on the "T" sound!!!

Speaking of first semester of college, I'm delighted to hear that Seth has discovered fun things to do on campus on the weekends. As someone who couldn't afford to live on campus and commuted each day and then go to a job after classes, I really felt that I missed out. I think "campus life" is an important part of the college experience (sharing a room with a stranger, budgeting time without parents to remind you to study, meeting people from different parts of the country) and am glad that both my boys got to experience it.

I don't think I've mentioned this on the blog but the new math teacher on our team this year (she transferred from another school so this is her first year in the building) is "more than a little different," for lack of a better term. IMO, she started the year off way too "laid back and loosey-goosey" with the kids, trying to be their friend and not laying down the law. That will bite you in the behind every time, especially with adolescents. They HAVE friends, they need to know their teachers are friendly but NOT their friend!

By October, she was already spending time whistling and shouting at the kids to get their attention and to get them to stop talking. Sadly, I spend 2 1/2 periods in her classroom b/c math is the subject my special ed. kids struggle with the most. So when the learning environment isn't good, I see it first-hand. Three times she has had meltdowns in the room and has fled, leaving me to teach the class - fortunately, I can do that b/c this is my 8th year doing 8th grade math.

Yesterday, I walked into her room 1/2 way through 3rd period (I spend the first part of the period in the science classroom on the hall b/c my kids are spread out over 3 classes) and 2 girls told me that Mrs. Driscoll had called the class a bunch of assholes!! Wanting to minimize the incident until I could talk to Heidi (the teacher) at the end of class, I sat down at a table and started helping a student. The next thing I knew, Heidi was gone! I finished the class and an administrator came into the room at the end of class to ask if I could teach her 4th period class. I said I couldn't b/c I had to be with my lowest group of kids in their English class so someone else covered Heidi's last period.

After the kids left the hallway for their exploratory classes, I went to the principal with the info. the girls had shared with me. I'm not ordinarily one to tattle on a colleague but there is nothing a kid can do or say that warrants a teacher calling them assholes!! The principal said, "I'm already dealing with it," whatever that means. Stay tuned.

Quiet weekend for me - no tennis. My leg doesn't hurt at all this morning. Maybe I can use the stitches to get Denny to help me with the weekend upstairs cleaning! :)

Have a great day everyone!!

Good Morning Eagle Buds !!!

Heading for the mid sixties here today---very strange fluctuation of temps this Fall, but I'll take these warmer days with a smile !

SANDI, I agree with your thoughts on college and campus life ! I'm stunned upon reading about the math teacher. Yikes ! If that happened here there would soon be a parent reporting it to the news media and away we'd go...most often resulting in getting rid of the teacher. That kind of name calling is totally unacceptable---she'd probably have a hissy fit if a student called her that ! So glad you're there to step in and hold the class together for the sake of the kids !

LYNNE2, good news on the knees ! You just handle your toes any way you see fit ! I no longer paint mine because I no longer wear open toed sandals. Good on you for tending to those medical matters for your furry friends !

JUDY, between you Angie and Carl, Jordyn is in good hands. You're all making wise decisions on her behalf ! I'm sorry for kids who have little to no parental and grandparental guidance and advocacy !

Have to do a Kroger run today. I've let the larder dwindle down to a pitiful minimum.

Love and Prayers for all !!!

Good morning,

Eagerly awaiting the return of eagle cam events. I do hope that Judie will return to enjoy all of that with us.

Kathryn is working on big plans for herself and Hunter for Christmas. Big secret for now. Hunter is not to know.

I am hosting bridge on Wednesday. Still need to find one more player.

Good morning all

Heading out for breakfast.

Missed reading LORI this morning?

Very sad to read about HEIDI SANDI.
It is what is wrong in Education.
Compassion is hardly understood and always misinterpreted in this environment by all sides.
I hope she can get the help she needs.

After breakfast I will go to an ultra light sauna at the yoga studio.
Then to Eco society rally on climate change.

Enjoy the day everyone.

Ultra red light sauna.
Different from a regular Sauna.
Never had it and thought I should try it.

♪♫♪♫ Good morning ♪♫♪♫ ☺☺☺ Loving my new laptop. My old laptop we bought in New England on our last Fall Trip. Our other one died. We bought it at Wal Mart. We have come to the conclusion is was OLD as I could not do a lot of things on it. Woo Woo! I can once again add musical notes!

Also, I could not plug in my photo chip. Had to plug in the camera to download. I am back in the land of the living!

I bake today and I better get with it!

I have really never painted my toes - don't know why not. As for starting to do it now - well I can't get down to their level if you know what I mean!

Tonight I go to the China Garden to celebrate the upcoming b-day of gd, Christine. Ripe old 31 years on the 22nd

Hi all - lazy day here. Bandit's doggie diaper arrived in the mail today. I posted photos on FB - clever design if it works. It's basically a fleece band that velcros around his body, covering his penis. Inside is a "male Depends," and the band has a strap that loops around his neck so he can't push it down and wiggle out of it. Lynne emailed me with the idea a few months ago when the incontinence started. Bandit has gotten much better personality-wise (aggression is gone) but the incontinence has gotten worse in the past 2 weeks. Kevin knows that this is a last ditch effort on our part to keep Bandit around for a while longer - fingers crossed.

Lolly, the math teacher is in her mid to late 40s - she's not a newbie to teaching!

Praline Crusted Cheesecake is cooling. Will make Pumpin rolls after we eat. Took all day with the cheesecake. Well, half a day after I went to the grossssserie store!

Watching TCU on TV.

Well the infrared sauna is wonderful.
I can go twice a week on my Yoga pass and I will do so.
Very pleased.

The Climate Action Rally reminded me of the 60's speeches, songs, pictures... and several police on bicycles and they were fun and they had their picture taken with us. Many gray haired people were there.
Some from the US came up to our rally.

Good breakfast with friends.

Logo submissions are still coming in and we have less than an hour to make up our minds.

Oh my! Sad about Heidi, Sandi. Sounds like she isn't likely to be back. I would say education isn't the place for her, but, honestly, she isn't going to fit in anywhere until she learns to control herself.

I've encountered a few real problem people in the classroom over the years. One was a gym teacher the kids were always wanting to go "talk" to. She was providing drugs on the side and ended up doing other stuff that I'm surprised didn't make the news.

And another one I thought was a wonderful professional who did end up on the news for having very unprofessional relationships with girls in his classes.

There are many fine teachers, a few who are less than fine, and a rare one who is criminal.

You definitely did the right thing in speaking to the principal, Sandi.

Good Sunday morning all. Raining here in western PA Went birding yesterday as there was a report of a red throated loon near here. Of course it had moved on and we were lucky to see Canada Geese. We did see a lot of deer and came close to hitting a group that ran in front of the car.
I went to a nearby larger town,Butler, to shop at a Sam's Club last week and looked all over for the chocolate potato chips. Finally the light came on that they are at Target-there is also a Target in Butler. Oh well, I didn't get to Target and I certainly don't need chocolate potato chips anyway.
Hope everyone has a wonder day.

Good morning everyone! Did a quick skim of the posts trying to catch up so please forgive me if I miss anything.

Forgive me for not checking in yesterday, and probably a few days this week. I have an unbelievably crammed schedule with piles of homework, papers, more reports and finals and three tests this week. I truly do not know how I'm going to get it all done. I'm panicked!

I'm hooking up with my math tutor again tomorrow as I have a huge packet of nursing metrics math to do this week, so I can't start that until tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great day. I'll try to peek in between assignments.

Big ((((HUGS))))

Good morning,

George has decided it is time to begin the day.

I see that we are approaching the 600 split. I hope that all is well with Steve and that we will soon be watching Belle and Shep.

Happy birthday, Hoda! Enjoy your day.

Big surprise for Hunter . . .

He has a friend who moved to Florida in August. They've invited Kathryn and Hunter to come for a visit at Christmastime, so Kathryn has made arrangements for them to go, and also has made reservations for Hunter to swim with the dolphins while they are there.

It's somewhere near Orlando. I think they will leave in the afternoon on Christmas day and drive down.

Shhh--Hunter is not to know. :) I did see your promise, Lolly.

Hope the studying goes well, Lori.

Good foggy Sunday morning Lori, Shirley, Lyyne1, Judy, and all my eagle friends! The dogs slept in this morning and so did I!

Happy happy 65th birthday, dear Hoda! I wish you 65 more! I hope you eat cake today - the "not healthy, very fattening, loaded with sugary icing" kind of cake!! Knowing you, you'll eat cake made out of kale!! ;)

Shirley, what a nice surprise for Hunter - I promise I won't tell him!

Lori, happy studying - guess that term is an oxymoron.

Have a great day all.

Thank you all very much.

LORI praying that you get it all done and that you are satisfied with your efforts. So inspiring to read your posts.

I will eat Kale yes SANDI.
On Friday a friend baked a non gluten non dairy and non sugar cake. Delicious.
I love what you and Dennis are doing for Bandit.

stronghunter said...

Enjoy your birthday cake, Hoda.

Are you allergic to gluten and dairy, or do you just avoid it?

Hoda said...

SHHHHHHHH!
I will not tell Hunter!

Dairy causes congestion in my sinuses and also chest.
Gluten causes inflammation of my joints and general fatigue.
Sugar causes irritability and hormonal imbalance in my body.
I have not been diagnosed yet over the past year or so I have been eliminating them from my diet and I notice a marked improvement SHIRLEY.

Good morning to all ♥

I see that I didn't come on to say goodnight --- don't know how that happened! ♥

A bit soggy out this morning - not cold - but wet. Did have rain last evening - I don't enjoy driving in the rain and darkness.

I a going to meet up with Jenny and go to Shep'stwn Market to see the BASKET Man. Megan won't be there as she is preparing her wreaths for the day at Market after Thanksgiving. BBL
