Good Evening Eagle Buds !

Have had all I can do just to cope with the extreme heat and humidity for the last couple of days. Got out for lunch with a friend and Trader Joe shopping Monday. After than, coupled with the necessary outings with Penny and I was zapped. Today I had to go out for R/x's and more grosseries--then I picked Seth up and he helped with Penny for the afternoon ! Yeah !

JUDYE, what a birthday you had ! Anyone on a Florida trail has enough to look out for without contending with such a swarmy oaf ! Glad you are okay and that he has been reported !

JUDIE, here's hoping your birthday has no perils and that you are enjoying a super day !

SHAR, good work on behalf of your neighbor's kinfolk ! Hope the PD comes through with more info for you.

Time to heat some soup---not the ideal meal on such a hot day, but I'm babying my temporary crown. Probably being too careful....

As usual, loved reading all the other posts, chock full of info on "The Days of Our Lives" here on our Eagle Blog !

Love and Prayers for all !

Wow! Judy - the raven at least did not fly into the person helping. Had to hurt but sure should feel better now!

Just got back from IHops - Breakfast for dinner - their bacon was the best ever! Only ordered 2 pieces and should have made that 4.

Super hot out and glad I am home once again in the AC

Sad news about Monteith. This happens too often with young stars!

Sharon - good work and you will be rewarded some how for being so gracious to his relatives. I sure hope a stink is started by the family as to not have been notified. Sure wish you had the whole story!

Hellooooo! Got a lot done today without Jack here. LOL Did some food prep for tomorrow, did a little house straightening, and went to the grosssserie store!

Well this year I limited my cam watching to our cam, no bears, no loons, no other eagles and now I am hooked on watching the Panda cam. I love the way she rolls around while cuddling her cub close to her.

Jack should be home in about 15 minutes and I am sitting and resting!

Just went back and watched the video of the birth. Amazing to watch. I have decided it was the second one that I saw born and not the first.

Judie said...

Good late evening.

Yes, adult was in the tree. So nice to have this camera. First time ever seeing what happens after eaglets fledge. Lovely sight against the blue sky.

Thank you Jim and Mr.Q for the birthday wishes. It has been a good day.

Sharon, glad the family arrived to take care of your neighbor's possessions. So sad the family was so estranged. Hope you can find out something of the circumstances of his death.

Can understand resistance to tuning in to the panda cam but I cannot resist. At least a few check-ins a day. Really not so bad since most all the other babes have gone their way. Now I have just Isla's girl and the bears. So, panda cubs it is.

Sad about the young actor, Monteith.

Hoping Margy and Wanda and Shirley will stop by.

Will try to check back later. Sandperson is huffing and puffing and stuffing sleepy dust into the super-size satchel. Has instructions to visit first those who have experienced sleep deprivation.

Again, thank you all for the birthday wishes and especially the decision-making moral support I sincerely appreciate.

So, just in case, restful sleep for all.

JudyEddy said...

yep its lightening at the nest just saw a huge bolt

Mema Jo said...

Judy - If it is a storm I sure hope Megan gets some rain and I would love some also if it will cut the humidity!

Anxious for the royal birth to take place. They report that Kate may be at her parent's home.

Lolly said...

MARGY MARGY MARGY.....Jack says thank you for the card. I say thank you for the laugh. I pulled it out of the mailbox and laughed outloud at the way it was addressed. (Lolly's husband) You are priceless! Love you!

Jack is home and we have had dinner. Warmed up last night's leftovers as I had stuffed 4 mushrooms and two was enough for a meal. Yummy! Jack wants them again soon.

We also just finished our overseeing of the yard. Has not rained all day, high was about 85, but it sprinkled lightly while we were out.

The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Charles wife, said that they were hoping for the baby by the end of the week JO.
Yes The Duchess of Cambridge was at her parents since Thursday last week. She probably will go back to Kensington Palace by this Thursday as Her Majesty's obstetrician is due to deliver the baby on the Lindo Wing.
Prince William turns 31 this Friday. Wouldn't be cute if the baby arrived then.
The hospital next to her parents has also been cleared for delivery just in case the baby came early.
Prince William will be given two weeks paternity leave from search and rescue.
Lindo Wing is the same place where Diana Princess of Wales delivered both Prince William and Prince Harry. The Heir and the Spare!
After the Duchess delivers the new heir Prince Harry becomes fourth in line instead of third in line.

Good hot, hazy, humid Wednesday morning my eagle friends!

I see no eagles in the nest tree this AM.

Today is getting ready for house guests for the weekend - they arrive tomorrow morning. Need to clean the upstairs and grocery shop.

Physical therapy at 11:30 - leg is really feeling good. No pain when I jog in place. Tennis courts, here I come! 7/26 is the first day that I didn't get a sub and i think I'll be ready!

Have agreat day all!

Janet said...

Good Morning to one and all. We are half way thru yet another week and another month! Where is time going???????

Its hot and humid again, but not complaining as it is not in the 100's. This is expected in July.

Finally got a report from the school psychologist...and it is good news....but frustrating as well. Olivia tested average in all categories, IQ, and all tests. This means she is able to do the work... but I am still perplexed about her ability or lack thereof to remember and retain stuff. The psychologist did say she did think "something" is going on, and they will make sure she gets extra help, but does not qualify for "learning disabled" assistence.

And, as I said to her, the last report card was much improved (math anyway) after the one on one work with teachers.

She suggested we monitor her this year, and maybe in 8th grade, if there is still a problem we can retest prior to high school to see if she's fallen behind more, or where she stands.

I am not too concerned about extra help in this particular school LEAD ACADEMNY is a charter school and I know she will ge tthe help she needs. High school concerns me, but it is 2 years off. I have to back up andremmeber to take this one day at a time.

So, there's the answer.

I told Olivia the testing showed that she is very smart and has the ability to do the work that is presented to her. So she needs to buckle down, work hard, and ask questions when needed.

*sigh*.....

Let me get ready for work.

Light, love, hugs, and smiles to all! Later!

Sandi said...

Janet, I am disappointed for you and for Olivia. The very definition of a learning disabled child is one with average to above average IQ with "something going on" that gets in the way of the child's ability to do the work!!!! GRRRR!!!!

Personally, I would not settle for the answer you were given. As an 8th grade special ed. teacher, when I manage to get a student identified as an 8th grader, I always feel like the system has already failed that child by not identifying the problem and putting support in place sooner! Why doesn't the psychologist want to pursue what the something is that he/she thinks is going on with Olivia??? I think you need to have a conversation with the principal to make sure there is a definite plan for insuring that Olivia gets the help/support she needs in the classroom. If she doesn't qualify for an IEP, what else can be done?

OK, off my soap box - but this is a very touchy subject for me. Good luck and stay vigilant! The school is focused on hundreds of kids - you are only focused on one. Be vocal and be prepared to be Olivia's advocate!

Judie said...

Good morning everyone.

Plan to get some reading done today since I'm returning to the classroom. Have a new book on profiling. Always need to find fresh cases, terminology, etc. College students share notes and papers so new material is a must.

Too hot to do much else. House is already getting warm.

Panda is not sharing. Isla and her babe are basking in the sunshine and wind. Bears are quiet.

Have a wonderful morning.

Lori O. said...

Good morning everyone!

JANET, so disappointed that you didn't get the answers you were looking for in Olivia's report.

SANDI, you give good advice. Bet you are a great teacher! Enjoy your guests this weekend.

JUDYE, thanks for the links. You always provide good stories!

KAY, sorry the heat is so unbearable...it's going to be that way today through the end of the week here. Finally we will cool off on Sunday to 84!

PAULA, good luck with your interview today...I think it's today.

LOLLY, your stuffed mushrooms made me hungry! Love mushrooms!

HODA, how are you relaxing today?

JO, are you enduring the heat okay?

Guess I should clean the house today since it's too hot to do anything outside. OK, getting to work here.

Have a wonderful and cool day everyone!

Judie said...

Hoda relax? What a good chuckle, Lori. Hoda relaxing is a serious contrast in terms.

Janet, I support Sandi's comments; however, you might consider that the "issue" is lack of motivation to retain certain information because it does not seem relevant to Olivia's life. As you know, most of us, especially children, do not fully process information into long-term memory because it seems irrelevant. So maybe applications such as why we need to understand circles helps her understand skating. Okay, now I'm off my soap box.

Dreadful oppressive heat here. Please, everyone take care.

Lolly said...

Good morning! Going to be a busy day. Not sure when Laurel and the boys are coming. Probably after lunch. Michael and family are "trying" to get away by 4. This morning I bake Jack his lemon meringue pie. Have also promised him one next week. He shares the one today and then he leaves tomorrow.

AC is back on but still not the horrendous normal temps. Weather is so crazy! Sorry you have the heat!

Lori, the stuffed portabella recipe we made was Emeril's. Found it on the internet, made with Italian Sausage. Delicious!

The Professor is already professoring preparing new challenges to the wannabes.

Love and Light to you JUDIE.

JANET, I agree with SANDI and JUDIE.
Simply observing for yet another year is not much of an option. The very definition of special needs as SANDI points out.

LORI today I have some work/ inquiries to do with the Yoga Festival project. I also go to yoga. I visit over Americano!!! I like that tried one this past week and really liked it! Good coffee.

What do you all do about enamel on your teeth. We spoke of that before. I use sensodyne which is a tooth paste. However tea now is causing a problem particularly green tea!!! I have done paste that I also apply to my teeth at night and maybe I should apply it during the day too???

Took care of the container garden.

Need to go get some more flowering plants.

Justin Trudeau, is going to be in Lakeside Park on Sunday. I plan to ride my bicycle to see him.

Mema Jo said...

Good advice on here from Sandi and Judie to you Janet. I wish the best for Olivia and I feel you are going to be the one to be sure she gets it.

JUDYE, tooth is doing well at the moment. Of course, I'm on pain killers!

HODA, could not believe it was in the 50's at your place this morning. I woke up and it felt like 80! About the tooth enamel, I brush with CREST 3D White then brush again with Listerine Total Care plus Whitening, twice a day. Good thing about the retainers I just got to keep my teeth in place is that they can be used as bleaching trays, so I bought some of the dental bleach, too.

JO, I am getting excited. And, yes, I did get some new shorts for the beginning of school since it starts Aug 29 and will be plenty hot for a while. Glad you enjoyed your visit with Jenny and tacos!

Hey folks, does anyone know what a phone hobbyist is? I googled the number, got some info, found a company and it is stated that they are PHONE HOBBYISTS.

What an awesome day it turned out to be. We too have rain and it also feels humid.
Had to wear a rain coat today but sandals are in. When I wrote in the morning it was in the fifties. Now it is 72.

How could I have forgotten it is Wednesday?
Of course it is because we have the Wednesday Market.
Bought a three berries smoothie. Delicious.
Walked around the market and visited.
Then there is The Art Walk... Both indoors and out. So I went on a bit of the Art Walk. Do many talented people.
We also have a poetry walk till the end of September. This is new this year. Loved walking around and drinking my smoothie and reading poetry in the strangest places: on the walls in planters on the steps up the steps on side walks on ceilings... I have a lot left to read.
Very good day do far. Will work on Yoga Festival now.

Glad JO had a good visit.
And another coming up.

Hope MARGY is doing well wrist wise I am sure she is having a blast visiting.

The physical therapist really ramped up my session yesterday b/c I told her my goal is to be back on the court by next Friday. No pain in my calf or ankle doing the exercises yesterday and no pain this morning - yay!!

Company arriving this morning (girlfriend from my former school in Baltimore, her husband, and their daughter who is 12). The next couple of days are supposed to be super hot with possible afternoon thunderstorms. We'll hit the beach today and hopefully take the boat out to go to dinner tonight.

Have a great day all - need to get outside before it gets too hot and water my pots.

Good morning to all!!! THURSDAY!

Know what that means? Its Friday Eve. :)

Yesterday was a busy day. massages. came home. scraped and worked on painting the ramp on the front of the house. pool time.
in the evening, worked on the remaining part of the ditch near the pool eventually our yard will look semi normal again. we are down to 2.5 piles of gravel! lol

thank you for your words regarding olivia. I have been and will continue to be her advocate.

the thing is, she is in a charter school. this particuar school is designed for children who came from at risk schools or who have some academic issues. it is a very small school. i think there are about 75 kids in the 7th grade. Classes are small and they are very academically based.

I am concerned. I know whatever this problem is hasn't gone away. But, at least this time instead of saying that I am imagining things, I have 6 teachers and a school phsychologist on my side, saying there is something...but it doesn't test out as something we can write an IEP for. I understand they have their rules they must abide by.

We have a new principal....haven't had the opportunity to meet her yet. I will be going over there next week to order some shirts and a new sweatshirt for Olivia, so it wiil be a prime opportunity to make my face known....

I am not so concerned about right now as I am about high school in two years. But again, all I can handle is one day, one step at a time. I will not give up. I certianly know she CAN do the work, but she has an "issue"........ and I do wish she had found what that is...but she didn't, so we go forward.

I love you all for the support and the words of wisdom.

Thank you.

I need to get started on my day. Running behind now. Hugs, love, light and smiles to all!

Good morning,

Checking the attic and seeing no eagles there this morning. Pretty blue sky and no wind.

I think I have a possessed printer. From time to time, it just seems to start up for no reason. Not printing anything, just making noises like it wants to.

And then last night Kathryn printed out a document. For some reason unknown to us, the printer stole the letter "L" from the printed document. All of the other 25 letters were there, but the letter L was missing. Good thing we have another printer.

Good morning everyone.

Reading and staying cool on my agenda today.

Storms damaged the Atlanta panda cam outdoor equipment so repairs are to be made. Pandas all okay.

MT tree at NCTC. ):

Shirley, we also have a printer that is occasionally possessed. Just whirls and splutters on its own. Maybe that happens when they feel neglected and want attention.

Janet, so glad you are Olivia's strong resource for support. One last item. Typically, a testing psychologist is trained to administer and interpret test results not identify the reason for a problem. A child psychologist or counselor would be trained to elicit the "issue" and recommend steps to overcome.

JudyE, sounds as if you and Jordyn have a marvelous day planned. Have fun.

Sandi, have fun with your friends today.

Okay, off to find coffee, newspaper, and then my profiling book.
