Evening, all.

JudyE, I think you were meant to have that eagle ring!

Sandi, pretty cool the stuff that Brian has found out about your family. I'm sure we all have scandals in our history, LOL

Jo, are you getting your PT at home?

Andy, hope your Dr can get you some relief from the shoulder pain.

Lori, so glad you arrived safely. Hope you are unwinding!

Shirley, good luck on the bed.

Lolly, I saw some daffodils halfway up at the beach this weekend. Just saw the tips of mine poking through today.

Glo, maybe you could ride Dex to a nearby park and walk there.

glo said...

Paula Yes I could and I might do that but being blind he will not know where he is etc although he does love to walk anywhere so it might perk him up. He knows the route to the Marina so I know he knows every time we go there and I don't walk him. it is close enough though that I think I will leave him home if I go to the Marina until it is opened up and we can walk again. he has been very quiet all day today. Didn't even really visit much with company I had for like 3 hours this morning. That is not like him, but I am sort of hoping its just one of those kinds of days we all have sometimes. he ate his supper just fine. Spring is really not too far away. I need him to hang in there for sure.

So, now it's my turn to share some not so good news.

Most of you know that I work for a local furniture company in Frederick. I have worked there since I was 18. It's been my one and only full time job.

Some of you also know, that we got kicked out of our location last year, on May 1st. The company fell on very hard times during the recent recession, and the building was sold at a foreclosure auction.

Our landlord wanted more rent...and when our subtenant asked for a rent abatement (not paying any rent for a period of time), he got totally pissed off and kicked them out. He sent us a letter kicking us out too, but kept telling us he would work with us.

Well, the negotiations got to a ridiculus level as to what the landlord wanted from us, and the talks broke down. He came in and locked us out on May 1st of last year. We had to lay off all of our employees, myself included. He only let us back in to get our records, and we only had 1 day to pack up our papers and go. He kept all of our furniture and fixtures, stating he had purchased them when he bought the building.

I worked for free for almost 3 months with the owner, trying to find a place and get back open. I was also doing everything else, like scheduling deliveries and such. We still had merchandise coming in and furniture to deliver.

Well, we finally opened back up at another location at the end of July. It was not the best location, it was the only location we could walk into without remodeling and start back in business.

It has been a long struggle that is finally coming to a sad end. We are losing way too much money, and we have decided to close. It was not a decision we made lightly, but we couldn't keep on losing our A$$, so to speak. The owner has put all his money and more into the business over the last several years. He probably should have closed it years ago. (The owner also owns a carpet business, which he is trying to sell as well). Our last day open will be March 3. We are supposed to be out of our current space on the 4th (not sure how we'll get that done).

I will probably work for another couple of weeks to finish up the financials, then I will be looking for another job...I have started looking, but not seriously.

It's a sad ending, but one that I am ready for and I am OK with the outcome. I had to really lay out the reality of the situation to the owner...I think he thought he could keep on going. The stress over the last couple of years has been enough. I am ready to move on.

So I look forward to a new beginning...

Paula. I believe your loyalty to the furniture business and it's owner will pay off. Your new employer will be well rewarded with you.

Good evening,

Just spent some time reading the posts that went up since I was here earlier.

Paula, so sorry about the job. That is quite a story. I am sure you will find something else.

Loved the story about the Ikea bed, Paula. Hunter is sleeping on the floor in his own room tonight. That is what I did for Kathryn today--I moved the mattresses into Hunter's room and set up his sleeping space there. Kathryn had him on the floor in her room, and she would have had to walk on his bed to get ready for work. She appreciated my efforts!

Congratulations on the ring, Judy!

Rus posted a video of a juvie bald eagle flying with his remote-controlled plane on FB. It's on my Timeline.

It is kind of long, but seeing the eagle is fun.

I do not know if I can post it here, since it is Facebook. I will see what I can do.

Margy, I noticed the beak to egg sound too. Those are some tough eggs!

I have been watching TV and feeling depressed. Little Miss T is not going to Sharon after all. She was still going to take her, but hubby Dan was not happy at all about it. She said that if there are others who want her to let her go to them. So, Joey has placed a call but could not reach the next person, a friend of his.

Laurel sent me a video of Miss T playing with her toys. She was wild with those toys. I would take her in a minute but Jack is very adamant about not wanting a dog. He is not a dog person, a great guy, but not a dog person!!

Good morning Eagle Family! It is a sunny cool morning here in Nashville and for me, it is a delightfully decadent day off! Mind you, I have work to day, but no teaching and no massages. My body needs a break. I had 2 120 min massages yesterday, but both were easy work.

Seems like everyone is up and running this morning....thinking of each of you...

I was planning to stay inside all day, save but for taking Miss Livvy to school, bank run...but if the sun is out and it isn't too chilly, I might venture outside to spread some more marble chips in my flower bed. Tom bought me another 5 bags (in lieu of flowers for Valentines day! :) :) We shall see. I will buy some more tomorrow, which is my payday.

I hope everyone has a lovely day. Thinking of each of you, holding you close in my heart and thoughts!

Good Morning!

LORI - Today will be a good day to get settled in while your parents are at the doctor's and you won't be needed to help with your Dad. Does your Dad still have a Foley catheter for urine, too? Or has that been remedied.

I remember when Dennis had a couple bags going, it was not fun. Different bags for night time than day time, etc. You know!

Dennis is younger and more independent, so he never required too much help. The one thing he could not do was the cleaning and closing off the tube coming out of his back for the kidney because he couldn't reach it.

How is your Dad's strength? Is he feeling better and stronger?

You are a God send to come and stay with them during this time. I know you wouldn't want it any other way because of your love for them, but I am sure they are just overjoyed you are there. You are their blessing!!

Good morning. golly it was so icy I barely got Dex and I across the street. I carry him now for the most part except for when i have to put him down by the hydrant and telephone pole, tree etc :-). I walked and walked him in the backyard for other important business but no success. I so hate to take either of us out there again BUT it will happen in about 6 hours. Then of ocurse to make matters worse we returned home short one booty. I know I know some of you are laughing but for me it meant go find that booty. So I brought Dex home and back out I went. We need that booty for him to walk at all in ice and snow and they are no longer available anywhere. Well it is much easier to walk on ice when you aren't carrying a dog. All is well and I recovered the lost treasure. Prayers for all and Peace for Granny Riffe and her family.

Linda said...

PAULA - Wow......what a year you have been through with your company! Your strength and perseverance shines through it all. That is so YOU!!

Although, you sound relieved that the stress of the past year will soon come to a close, there is that "unknown" before you. I have faith in you and know you will face your next challenge with the grace and dignity......as you always do!

Praying that as you close this chapter in your life, a new opportunity comes your way for a new job.

And along this path, always know we are with you!!

Lori O. said...

LINDA, love your avatar!

Yes, Dad still has the catheter, thus the appt with the urologist this morning. Every time they take it out he can't urinate. It's been very problematic. He's a little stronger now, not as much as I'd expect him to be, and he's also battling depression now.

Lori O. said...

GLO, I hope DEX is feeling better today and his spirits pick up. Glad you found that booty! :) You be careful on the ice!!! Remember, no falling allowed.

Linda said...

JO - Sounds like you are making progress towards better health, but this has been quite the set back for you. Bless you as you heal and quietly obey your doctor's orders. I know it isn't always easy.......waiting to heal!!

Hopefully when the warmer temperatures arrive to stay, you will be full of energy and able to take deeper breaths......and you will be up and ready to face the world again!!!

Until then......rest, rest, rest!!

Linda said...

MARGY - Sounds like everyone is slipping all over the place in your neck of the woods. Hopefully by the time your day is done, roads will be treated and conditions will be better.

Glad that some of those exercises you are doing are helping. It's a slow process, huh??

OH ANDY - You poor thing suffering as you have.....
Praying that you find relief very soon for your shoulder. If the pain is unbearable, maybe you should have medication that just knocks you out...... I don't like those myself, but when you are that miserable, you might as well sleep through it!!

Linda said...

SHIRLEY - Hoping the bed issue is resolved today!!

Maybe you should take all the pieces back to the store!!!

Linda said...

LORI - I think you asked about the maple syrup.....

And NO we are not running a meth lab LOLLY!!!

The sweet smell of maple permeates our home right now and has been for the past few days!! It was too cold for the sap to run over the weekend, but we may get some more today for a while. Dennis has a good 15 gallons of sap to boil, so we are good through the days that it does not go above freezing.

It will take 40 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of maple syrup......so it is a long process. It works well for us because we have a wood stove going in the basement for heat anyway. We just keep a couple large pots on the wood stove and keep refilling as the sap cooks down. No extra energy costs!!

Linda said...

LORI - Your poor Dad with the Foley catheter, too!
Everything is so intertwined down there, you're always wondering what is causing what.

How far of a drive is it to go to Pittsburgh to see the doctor? That always becomes a pain when the doctors that treat these things are over an hour away. It's not as easy as a 10-20 minute drive to the doctor.

God Bless HIm.....and you and your Mom, too!

LINDA, Pittsburgh is about 2 hours away in good morning conditions. Lucky you to have all that maple syrup in the making!

LYNNE2, Is it the big pretty flakes? Waiting for the snow to start here, but it'll be the little dry, sandy-like stuff. Praying good thoughts for you and the move!

Good Morning more Eagle Pals...
precipitation has stopped here in Berkeley Co, but there sure isn't any heat wave here

Lolly said...

Good morning!

Sitting here smiling, LINDA. I immediatly thought of you when I saw about that other couple and their maple syrup. The lady was very gracious and not mad at all. Thanked her neighbors for being alert. Wish my house smelled of maple syrup.

Feel a little better today, but still down about Miss T. Laurel sent me a video of her playing last night. She was scooting toys all over the living area. Also, growling at the toys...the cutest little growl!

I really need to tend to Annie. She had a night of throwing up and not eating today. Sigh....some days she eats and some days she does not. Going to be one of those days.

Lolly said...

Would you believe I have nothing on the agenda for today? It is really chilly today though sunny, so not sure I want to do anything outside.

I am off to start my day!

Have a good one!

Hi, Gang,
Just wanted to let you know I'm hanging in there. Had a lousy night--this seems to get worse at night, for some unknown reason. A long, hot shower this morning helped. Ken e-mailed my doctor for me, and we're waiting for her reply. I hope she'll refer me to a specialist. Thank you all for your prayers for me! I can feel the love!

Prayers for Granny Riffe!...and for the whole family.

Glo, glad you found the missing bootie! Hope Dex perks up today, and feels better.

Paula, so sorry to hear of your work situation! What a mess! I'm certain that you will come through this OK, though. Praying that you'll find just the right new job.
((HUGS))!!

Jo, glad to read that your lungs are doing well, and you're feeling better! That's the kind of news we like to hear! ((HUGS))!!!

Well, I need to go put the heating pad on my shoulder again for a while. I'll try to get back here later to update you about the doctor. Have a good day, everyone!
I ♥ us!!!!

Good Afternoon Eagle Buds !

ANDY, I think our dear Lynn would have told you to alternate heat and ice. Something you might want to ask the doc about. Prayers continue !

NEW BEGINNINGS ! In the couple of years I've been an active part of this conversation almost everyone of us has experienced a New Beginning. Retirement, job changes, housing moves, going through empty nesting, farewells to pets and welcomes to new ones, coping with so many kinds of losses and illnesses AND our group adjustment to life without Liberty and our precious, precious Lynn as well as our gradual acceptance of Shep, the now noble consort for Queen Belle. I am so impressed with the strength and resiliency of my Eagle Buds ! The way we support each other through all the ups and downs, highs and lows brings tears of joy to these old eyes ! In short, I LOVE US and wouldn't know how to live without you all anymore !

Praying for Granny Riffe and all in need !

Hey you all on Facebook....Megan has a page, Megan Webbers Flowers! Check it out!

Thanks, Lynne! Just liked Megan's page. Beautiful flowers!

Tonight Miss T is going home with a lady named Beth. She is a realtor in Denton. She is a little older than Laurel and has two boys. The funny thing is when she was a little girl she lived across the street from us in Fort Worth. Lost track of them when we moved here 40 years ago. Then a few years ago I recognized Beth's mother at a boys baseball game. I thought it was her but not sure until I heard someone call her mother by name. Also, Laurel has taught one of Beth's boys. Small world. Only thing...her husband is out of town. Says he will not be happy. Why are some hubbies that way? Laurel and I are happy about this. Beth was at her house the other day and fell in love with Miss T. Glad we will be keeping up with her progress.

Kay, you said everything so well. Yes, could not live without this group!! I love us!

HODA, how was your day? Sure wish you could have had Miss T.

LORETTA, any good animal sightings at work today?

JUDYE, Are you wearing your new eagle ring? :)

Lori. Except for bitter cold and lots of ice to walk Dex has had a pretty uneventful day. He seems to feel better than yesterday though Is interacting more with me. Maybe the cold spurs him on. Got a big storm coming on Thurs if they are right. Hmm our trip to walk in the park is going to have a to wait a while Winter may have finally arrived.

I so want Ms T to have a loving home. She sounds like an awesome little dog. Someone is very lucky. I can not imagine what happened that she became homeless.

Judy so if I make my fan pages public then everyone can see them? That would be a good idea for me. I guess they would have to click like to be able to comment but I am more interested in sharing the pictures and well Dex of course wants me to share his page too :-)

SO MARGY you got to see her page COOL BEANS Hey is there a comment area if you aren't a facebook person just curious and I think it would help Glo too

GLO you can even make just certain pictures or albums public and anyone can look at our profile pic and the cover pic that is public for all but its how you have your setting if its public everyone can see it and on that you could have albums marked private or anyother setting I have a few of my albums public so but not the personal pictures they are friends only but eagle related is public and vacations too

JudyEddy said...

Janet said...

Good evening all...JUDYE I am charging my phone for a bit, then I will call you and we can discuss that paperwork that we recieved in the mail.

LORI: regarding flip flops. It depends on the time of the day. In the morning and early in the p.m. I am typically hot and sweaty...espeically if I am working...but in the evening.....I freeze. And goodnes, my feet my have my thermostat in them...I cannot stand it if my feet are too hot or too cold....

I went out and had some RETAIL THERAPY today....lol. I went to staples and bought 2 new filing cabinets and a new shredder!!!! I've been wanting these items for a while...so I was glad to get them.

I also went to lowes and bought ten more bags of white marble chips!

Anyway, its been a lovely day! I 'm back in my toasty warm houseshoes as it is evening and drinking my cup of hot tea.....

Light, love and hugs to all!

I saw that egg roll too, Paula...
it's right windy hereabouts, actually....we had wind warnings reports at work, for "West of the Blue Ridge" - that's us
but places like Frostburg and higher elevations will get it worse

Good evening all.

Strangest event this afternoon. Got home and found an FBI agent and a RCMP detective waiting. They said they had a few questions for me. Wanted to know what I know about a strange odor being reported across the U.S. Seems to be a combination of West coast (B.C.) cannabis farms and a suspected East coast meth operation disguised as maple syrup production. Taking the 5th on this one.

Hope Shirley had a good bowling day and Hunter's bed will soon be put together.

Lori, finished the gang book. Student brought me The Murder Room today. Already hooked. Hope you and mom and dad are okay.

Glo, hope Dex continues to feel better.

Margy, please relax those muscles.

Hi all! Seems I am having difficulty finding the time to be on here and really getting to know you all and your history. I apologize for that.

Thanks to all who have sent since nice greetings.

I have been reading back and want to tell Paula that I am sorry to hear about the loss of the company. How tragic when that has been the place of you dedicated service for so long.

I hope MemaJo is doing well.

And, I have been meaning to ask--how do you get a feather? LOL--Do I find out about that on Momsters? I really have not enough time to explore all that, but I will.

Take care everyone

Lydia you get a feather if you are the first one to spot and post on a new thread. Be sure to also go to the old thread and post in Bold capitals NEW THREAD ALERT so others who log on later see they need to head on over to the new page. Good luck. Hope you get a feather. :-)

Laurel called and Miss T was picked up. Beth came with her two sons...all excited. Beth said she felt like she was taking their dog. Everyone was so sad. She left with Miss T tucked in her sweatshirt jacket. Probably going to name her Dolly. I personally do not like the name. lol She thinks her hubby will come around. Joey told her to just plop her in his lap. That is all it will take.

Funny story is Luke. He went from pouting to back to his cute personality right away. He knew he was not getting the attention he should get. lol Laurel has washed all his toys that he shared.
