Merry Christmas Eve!

Stopped by my ex-MIL for a drink, it lasted longer than that, I wasn't going to stay for dinner, but stayed...waited for the snow to stop and the plows to come through.

Safely home now...heading over to Larry's for the evening, so I will catch up with everyone tomorrow.

SED Love and Hugs for all, and a Merry Christmas Eve!

Love the snow today, even though it has made traveling tricky.

HA! I will NOT allow these Joy Suckers to suck me into their vortex of negativity.

My tree is up, all 4 feet of it, and lights are on! The Christmas candles are twinkling away, the eggnog is chillin', I've been out playing in the snow with the dogs...what a nice surprise to have such a nice snow on Christmas Eve! (pics on FB) Though I worry about the travelers...

Update on JoAnn...went to the hospital and she had been dismissed. She went home with her son. Jack and I are thinking that maybe this is what she was hoping for.???????? Anyway, after home from church I called her cell phone and talked with her. She is staying with her son until Jim is home. She also has the dog. Whew!!! Now I can relax and enjoy the evening.

Off to prepare dinner...won't take long.

Well, it certainly seems that the least I can do is prepare food for the working police officers. It also seems the least I can do in hopes that my food will get me a free Get Out Of Jail pass if needed.

Hoda, bah humbug on the Nelson police. Maybe they are grumpy because no one feeds them on a holiday eve. Well, as long as they leave Santa alone and do not confiscate the shiny Christmas garland, all will be just fine.

Lynne2 said...

Judy your tree is twinkling!

Lynne2 said...

Lolly, I have to wonder then, why she wasn't at her son's in the first place? Hmmmm. Well, glad she is there and being looked after now!

Ah, I believe I hear the stealthy footsteps of the Sandperson sneaking down the hall. Yes, I am ready for sleep. So, once the sleepy dust is sprinkled in my eyes, Sandperson will be on the way, making rounds (Nelson, B.C. is high on the list).

Hear some mumbling outside the door -- yes, that's it: Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Blessings on the this blog family.

Hoda said...

I might take it into consideration to do some baking for both detachments next year...however there is a big Canadian joke about how they eat doughnuts and when you want them you would find them in a doughnut shop...seeing as how Nelson does not have a doughnut shop that might not be a problem here...LOL

Lynne2 said...

Good night Judie, Merry Christmas to you and Darth and the girls!

Almost Christmas Day here in these parts!!!!
Guess who is at work 4 hrs earlier than scheduled. I was awaken by my daughter sometime after 4pm telling me that work called me in. I listened to my messages, 3 of them. first one said they needed me on standby. keep in mind I live 30 min away.... in a bind on bad roads, it takes me an hour or longer to get there. Second call was telling me yes I had to come in at 8pm, call and let them know I got the message. So of course this gal has been up now since something after 4pm... have had 4 hrs of sleep, and get off at 8 am. COming up a windy rd in the mountain I get called and said nevermind, don't need me.... well I am up and almost there, I am not turning around.
With more bad weather coming coming Christmas night, I pray I do not get called in early again!!!

Speaking of first responders, Hoda...
While at GG's this afternoon (we celebrated Christmas this eve), a car ran into a tow truck on the icy road in front of the house. Dustin and Aaron were FIRST RESPONDERS...Dustin directed traffic around the accident scene and Aaron tended to the injured driver until the police and ambulance arrived. I was quite proud of them both! I posted a picture of Dustin directing traffic on my blog SMILES:)

We had a wonderful celebration, the whole family was together...Jillian has to work tomorrow, that was the reason for a party on Christmas eve.

Good night dear friends, sending love and prayers your way.

My sister phoned from Cairo and she said that at six in the morning of the 26th my niece is going to have her baby boy. They will name him Abraham. Ibrahim in Arabic. I think it is a C section since they know the specifics so well. Very exciting indeed. She is two weeks overdue.

I had a terrific yoga practice and there were beautiful children and a new born baby. There were young men in the practice today and it was good to have them as we sang and chanted and their voices were a welcome addition. Usually there are more women than men in the practice...today more fathers with children came to the practice and a few mothers too.

I love us...

Merry Christmas.

House is in order - all food put away or given away to those that were visiting.

Momma Owl just flew off from the potted plant and one little chick is watching after her. I think the other chick died but haven't been on their forum to find out for sure.

Today was a day my heart truly needed; we were able to share lots of love, laughter, joy, together, all my children, grandchildren, and our special friend Russell...(whom we have adopted!).....

Now it is evening.....the rain has moved in, still promising a dusting of snow tomorrow. We shall see. The winds have most definitely picked up! It has been about 38 all day.....

TV is on...thinking about a snack. If the weather permits, I have 2, maybe 3 massages tomorrow. So,we shall see. Either way is fine with me. Its been such a lovely, lovely day. I cannot even describe to you how my heart is overflowing with joy and peace this day!

Blessings, light, and love to each of you my friends.....

JudyE, the Google image is cute! How was the drink prepared? In a blender?

the kids and Grandkids have come and gone...Larry has gone home too. It was a Merry Christmas.

John couldn't make it to his Grandmother's last night because of the weather (where Michael, Laura and I were, before I went to Larry's). I brought back Michael's and Laura's presents for John, Ajay and kids, because Michael and Laura left late last night to go to her parents in NJ. So I got a Skype account set up today, and he and Laura watched the kids and us open presents...pretty cool, haven't Skyped before.

Cooked a Rib Roast, twice baked potatoes, broccoli with cheese, rolls, salad, corn, potato salad, gravy, apple pie, choc chip cheesecake bars, and chocolate cake with peppermint ice cream in the middle. Great feast! Dishes are about done, and so am I.

Oh, Larry got me a really cool carved eagle, I will try and post a pic of it tomorrow. Ajay got me a really cool floral bag, it says Paula's Paradise on it!

Next weekend, it's a 4 day for me, and we are heading up to Larry's place in Rehoboth.

They will be worse in the morning!! Yikes! We got just a dusting of snow and we have not told the boys that at their home they got 1 or 2 inches.

Again....night all!

Trying to wind down. Susan has gone home. Rus, Will, and Bill have been sitting around a fire in the backyard, something they seem to enjoy even on cold days. Will purchased a fire pit some time ago.

Good early morning!!!
Hope Santa treated everyone well!
I must tell you about my day.IT WAS ALMOST PERFECT! 100% perfect would be if Mom was there in person. SHe was felt in spirit for sure! All our food turned out delicious!! Not too much leftovers. :( We had Turkey, Ham, Saukraut, Sweet Potato casserole, Green bean Casserole, Homemade Mashed potatoes, Gravy, Corn, rolls, Moms recipe Stuffing and Pumpkin Pie for desert.
Of course now I am at work. IN 48 hours I will have only had 8 hrs of sleep. So come 8am..... I hope and pray I can go home and get my much needed sleep. Supposed to start snowing at 3 am ant then turn to ice in the afternoon. YUCK!! I am done with the weather now.

Good morning. I think I have a case of the "day after". What will I do with my day today?
Dad gets his picc flushed today then, MRI tomorrow.
My wayward brother called yesterday. He was home along while his wife was in NYC with their former exchange students. Anyone find that a little strange, or is it just me. Guess that is why he was able to call though since she was out of the house. Haven't gotten a response to my letter to her. Oh well. I hope this has perked my dad up a bit and he will realize that he needs to just accept this as what it's going to be. Of course I think mom expected me to make big whoa ha's that he called, prodigal son for sure!
Anyway, sorry didn't mean to be a downer.
We had a wonderful day yesterday. I played on the Wii U which was a blast. Not sure the kids wanted me on any of their teams though! Andrew was very kind...
Guess we are going to have some winter weather today. Wonder where that came from?
Monte and Annemarie (from all the kids though) picked out a beautiful necklace for me for Christmas. So very sweet!
Major diet starting. Hope to be skinny for Adam's graduation!
Time for some coffee...

DanaMo said...

WOW Carolyn you are going to be exhausted!
Have a good day at work.

Good Morning All!!!

DanaMo, I feel like you - the day after - what to do!???? Prayers for your Dad today.

We have a Winter Storm Warning here in PA for up to 8 inches of snow, heavy at times today... another 1 - 3 tonight.

You locals be careful, I've read you'll have some freezing rain.

Going to the doctor with Mom and Dad at 9 this morning. Dad has a test. Not sure what it's going to tell us, but I believe the test on Friday is the one that will show how much the cancer has spread.

Prayers for JO, Michael, Isaac, Thelma's BIL, GLO's MIL, Dana's Dad, and Sandi's Mom. I hope I'm not forgetting anyone.

So happy everyone had a nice Christmas.

KAY, be careful if you're getting all that snow today! Hello to Penny!

PAULA, can't believe you cooked all that food! Sounds yummy!

Good day after Christmas morning Dana, Lori, Judy, Margy, Paula, and all my eagle friends! Sleet here in Elkridge ugghh! Mom is supposed to take off for TX this afternoon - BWI is already delaying and canceling flights!!

Had a great day yesterday but I am ready to get home to my own bed! Brian and Lynnis will be coming to visit for a few days - should arrive this evening.

Lynne, thanks for the Jupiter heads-up; I wondered what that bright thing was so close to the moon.

Carolyn, I'm so glad your day yesterday was a happy one!

Prayers for all the needs on our blog.

For those of you who don't choose to have facebook, it would be worth signing up, just to see all the wonderful pictures of our friends and families Christmas celebrations.
I loved reading about our Momster's festivities on here and then going to facebook and seeing the accompaning pictures...almost like being with them:)
One of my favorites was JANET'S baby granddaughter...she is beautiful and I just would love to hold her:)
My Denise took some fun pictures at GG's on Christmas Eve. Karla took some also, but I haven't seen those yet.

BTW, it is VERY easy to sign up for facebook! I'm heading there now:)

Snowing in Elkridge now. Mom's flight has been delayed an hour already! Won't be surprised if it gets canceled.

Lolly, where are you in relation to Austin and Fort Hood?? I read that you got snow yesterday. Mom is hoping to leave cold weather for a week - wondering what she's flying into?

Not looking forward to our drive home this afternoon.

Later!

DanaMo said...

Oh Sandi so sorry for your mom.

It's snowing in Hagerstown, and my parents just called to say if you don't have to go out, dont. The roads are slippery and there are some trucks that are having trouble moving around. Crazy, I wasn't really expecting this weather. Dad has had a sore raspy throat for a couple of days. Mom called in hoping to just get a prescription, but Dr. Mac wants to see him. Wish they would have called, I would have taken them in the Suburban. Weird how the chemo is having effects a week after it being over.Just shows how the medicine keeps working in the system after the day of treatment.

Janet said...

good morning my friends. i slept in! late late late for me. feel as if i slept in half the day!!!!

one of my clients (husband and wife) is sick with flu like symptons and a fever and they were thoughtful enough to cancel (thank you!).... (fever is a contraindication for massage) and so i didn't have to drive out there this morning....they canceled right before bedtime last night. then the other has been caring for her elderly mother, and has been up all night so she canceled. so a day off.

DANAMO: i am sorry your brother is being such a buckethead. (((HUGS))) to you my friend, wishing i could do more....

i had such a lovely holiday yesterday. it was, quite literally the first time in 20 + years where i didn't cook a full holiday meal.....and it was quite nice. chris and chelsea did a fabulous job....and the kids could run and play with all their new stuff so they were not bored. all of my kids and grandkids were there....it was just better than i could have asked for! we played a game (apples to apples) and just enjoyed ourselves. our friend russell was there too. russell is single (divorced) and his daughter is now 18. tom has known russell since they were in their 20's.....and when we moved back here, he was so lonely and so sad that my heart melted and we have rather adopted him. so he's part of our family as well. he pops up on my face book pictures a lot....

not doing too much today. its spitting snow flurries.....said it might pick up a bit later, but not expecting any real accumulation. west of here, it is a different story.

i forgot to tell you! a squirrel story!!!!

so every winter i buy a couple boxes of suet to feed the birds and the squirrels.

the first suet feeder i put out was a double, looks like a little house and you put a cake of suet on each side. well the little brat squirrels would steal the cake out of the feeder.... brats!

so then i moved to a cage feeder...and they learned the flip the latch, drop the cake and steal it. again, brats.

so i took clothes pins...they learned to pop those. :( really?

then i took zip ties and tied that thing close. ha ha. last laugh is on me, right????

guess what? i looked out yesterday morning adn the darn things STOLE the entire cage portion of the feeder and it is no where to be found!!!!!

if i didn't see it with my own eyes i would not believe it!

soooo, i have to go and get a new suet feeder. thankfully they cannot steal my seed feeder!!!!!! but it is one of those that closes if something heavier than a song bird is on it....

with that, have a super day ya'll....will check in later!

Thankful for all your Christmas day comments about your dinners and your getting together with family and loved ones and even with your work family.

I do believe it was YOU who told us about facebook and ivited us all to join. I'm so glad I took you up on it...I love to chat with my family there. I can keep tabs on all of them:)

Costume Lady said...

JANET, it may be just a matter of time before the squirrels discover how to get into your 'Big Bird and Squirrel Proof' feeder. We have 2 of those and the squirrels sit on top, extend their front paw and open and eat until they slide off and do that over and over again until they get their fill:)

Bird Girl said...

Costume Lady: I have a habit of doing that, popping up out of nowhere just when someone was thinking of me...must have been the burning I felt in my ears! LOL

Thanks, BG, so glad you made the facebook suggestion! I then told my daughters about it and the rest is History:)

My brother-in-law, Jerry, has made it through his surgery. He is doing better and he plans on being discharged from the hospital tomorrow or Friday. Thank you all for your prayers.

stronghunter said...

Hmm, interesting, Wanda. So far the squirrels have been frustrated by my squirrel-proof feeder. Maybe they aren't as smart as your squirrels.

I have noticed that my feeder is rusted out on the bottom.

Looks to be raining outdoors here now, but hard to tell. There is some ice and snow still on the ground. Really ugly out there.

Just got a nice surprise. I went to the pharmacy to get a few more pills to last me until the new year when I will be out of the doughnut hole.

I had gotten a discount card from the doctor's office, but a pharmacist at Walgreens said that I am not allowed to use it because I am on Medicare.

On the way to the pharmacy (not Walgreens), I decided to give it a try. Wow! Co-pay was supposed to be $109.00 for just 20 pills. I paid nothing. Zero. Very nice. Gonna hold onto that card.

I love Paula's sand people!!!!Better than snow!
I had planned to go to Chelsea work for a few hours, but no one else would be there, icy and such, so I'm having a day off.
Daughter sent more panda a some butterfly stuff! I told I didn't need any, but she insisted!I think I can solve my "too much stuff" problem by building an additional room that can become the mini-Smithsonian annex!!! ☺

lol. LYNNE2: if its a bear, I quit.

so far, COSTUME LADY & others i have had my squirrel proof feeder up in the front flower bed (in front of window so i can watch! :) for about a year and they haven't figured that one out....YET. i just went to ace and got another suet feeder. it is a bit heavier duty, but still a cage type....not a lot of varieties...anyway, tom and i will look at it and hopefully make it theft proof.

they are very smart.....but so cute and entertaining as well. i just want them to SHARE...not hog it all to themselves! maybe i should have a chat with them, lol.

it is wet and chilly here, still spitting snow, but nothing to speak of. putting a movie on to watch. making a pot of chili in a bit.

everyone who has to be out in that crazy weather, please take care and be safe.

and the rest of us who are home today (this doesn't happen to me very often!) stay home, relax and enjoy!

hugs to ya'll

Hubby used his snow blower on the deck
It worked real well - That was some deep snow. Snow has stopped for now - I guess we could get more or some rain. I
haven't been watching the weather channel.
I really feel like eating an oatmeal breakfast for dinner.... Better then cold cereal and I don't want anymore of the leftovers - at least not for another day or so.

Judie said...

Whew! Got home just in time to warm leftovers but first have to report the following:

It was a hectic trip with all the bad weather BUT a visit to the secret hiding place was in order and I can report that all things hidden (to include a shiny green garland) are safe for another year. Well-hidden, yes, well-hidden indeed.

Quiet day. Got my "do" did. Weather awful. Plan to settle in to do some pleasure reading tonight -- perfect for a cold, rainy, wintery eve.

Hope everyone had a good day and, if traveling, will be safe in their roosts tonight.

Bye
