Glad to see that you all got my 'call over' - Beautiful day here in the valley. Windows and doors are open wide.
I can see that we need this Sandman on a regular schedule - seems he didn't get to everyone until quite late last evening!
No plans other then just to watch the birds and squirrels. My Bragg Girls are arriving tonight - no school in NC on Friday or Mon.... Anxious to see them.
JO and DANA, The Sandman arrived and I slept very well...I think he was here by 10:30 PM last night.Thanks for asking...It is 9:55 AM here I am three hours behind you all...Eastern time zone that is...I am the same like California time. Pacific Time.
A full day for me today. I go to my regular yoga practice and then to CFUW RESOLUTION COMMITTEE MEETING. We have THREE resolutions to deal with. Polygamy, there is a community in Creston, a couple of hours away from here who practices polygamy. Their leader was jailed for life in Texas a few months ago...some of the children involved where from this xommunity in BC...The other two resolutions deal with Mental Health in British Columbia and the third is a resolution to deal with generic drugs to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa. The discussions should be lively. CFUW is the Canadian Federation of University Women, a group I joined because of their advocacy roles nationally and internationally. They also have socializing activities.
I hope yu have a GREAT DAY everyone...I will start getting ready to go and will be in lurking mode. I will check in before I leave...

LORI you askwed about colour changes in British Columbia. We have a good display of colours and it is breath taking for me and yet we do not have the deep reds that you find on the east coast. Do take pictures.

Good Afternoon and thanks to Steve for the new thread !
Color me frustrated ! The doc in charge of me through this infection, an infection specialist associated with Riverside Methodist Hospital, is away this week and has not seen my scan results. Receptionist not sure if he'll be in next week. Knowing my primary phyician is to receive all test results I called her office. She has been away this week and is expected to return on Monday. So, I'll wait a few more days after all. Taking my antibiotic, behaving myself and feeling just a bit stronger each day. Down another couple of pounds and wondering when that will stop. Losing another 10 or 15 pounds would make me happy, though I'm not pleased with this particular method !
LORI, sorry to hear the kitties are in such bad shape. Something to do with their feral beginnings ????

Yes SHIRLEY Warren Jeffs is the leader of the sect that is in Creston BC. I agree with you he is a very scary guy and the community IS isolated from the larger community of Creston...They say his brother is going to be acting leader getting his directions from Jeffs in jail...they transported girls across the border as young as 10 or 12 years of age to become "wives"!!!

Kay, Sissy is doing better although still feeling a little yucky. She is home and I think may have overdone it some today. She is going to the lake in the morning for some R&R. Hopefully she will see eagles to take her mind off her troubles. I am going over on Saturday and really hope to see eagles. More will be revealed.

Hello Sharon! Hello everyone! Well, we have our electricity back but our furnace is out. Getting a new motor for it tomorrow. When it rains....it pours. :(

Not sure what we are going to do this afternoon. We have been hanging around here as a mobile repairman came. He came quickly and specializes in electricity so that was good. However, he has now taken the furnace to his shop so we can go out. Hmmmmm???? Lots to see...what shall we do?

Kay, the benefit I had with my CT scans was being a transcriptionist, I knew one of the radiologists and would ask him to read it and then he would just tell me right then what it showed.

SHIRLEY, you are so right about what the docs would expect for themselves or their loved ones ! I can only hope if there was anything requiring immediate attention the Radiologist would have red flagged it so someone else would take a look. Both offices have several other doctors.

LOLLY, I have a good appetite, but find I can only eat about half of what I ate 6 weeks ago. I reach an, "I'm so full I'll gag if I take another bite" feeling quickly and have to cover and refrigerate the rest. Saving money and losing weight in doing so. Wondering what could have happened in the course of this infection to so drastically change my metabolism ?
I like the ones that look like radiators because they seem safer.

Kay, same thing happened with my liver abscess but it slowly got better and I stopped losing weight. These abscesses must affect everything in your body.

Two sides of house, 3 of 4 mulch beds and 1/2 of driveway leaf and branch/limb free!!! Have never had so much debris this early in the season----summer was really rough on the trees!! Whew.....need a sweet pick-me upper!

Well I am getting 2 new toilets. Due to it has eaten the sealer around the screws in the tanks. They could rebuild them but the cost is almost the same. I just love what I have to spend my monies on. SAD, SAD, SAD. I will NEVER USE THOSE TABLETS EVER AGAIN!!!

It could be the antibiotics causing the loss of appetite. I'm sure when this is over you'll feel more like eating. That's what happened to me.

LYNN, Eileen will arrive about 3pm Sat.---originally coming in on Friday, but her daughter is arriving that day for a weekend in Grand Rapids. She and her boyfriend will be with Eileen Friday, her dad Saturday and back to the U of MI Sunday. My loss, but for a good cause ! Oh, yes, I'm excited----she will stay with me and she's really good company !

Dana, I don't think it's you or anything you can fix. Many of the blogs have suddenly stopped accepting comments---and no one has changed anything to cause it to happen. It's the stoooopid blogger cop! Even the logging out thing that JudyE discovered a while back doesn't work all the time.

I have been watching the Australia Sea Eaglet today. It ate an eel. I checked into why only 1 eaglet. It was born 7/4/11 called S-1 the other was born 7/7/11 called S-2. It died when a wet pigeon was brought into nest and the carcass layed ontop of S-1 and it suffocated. The one in the nest is growing it is S-2 for Sea Eaagle 2.
Should have added S-1 passed Aug. 19th.

Kynn, thank you. I do feel better. My doctor is recommending that I consider a transplant though. Do not think it is a road I will travel. Transplants do not mean longer life.

Worrying about Boomerang. Not sure how or what he could have gotten into. Seemed fine earlier, went for a walk and he has been with me all evening. Tried to give him a piece of steak at dinner and he wouldn't take it...very strange. Then he threw up (just liquid). The only thing I can think of, is that when we came home from our walk, and after Java had her walk, I gave them all a "Better than Ears". Not sure if he swallowed it whole and it's giving him a problem or if he somehow managed to get something when I wasn't looking. All socks are accounted for...I'll be worried all night now.

Repairman came to the RV park really quickly. The furnace will hopefully be fixed by tomorrow. Need it fixed before we go to Colorado. Snow expected there. Yikes!
This afternoon we went to Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks Natl. Monument and took a mile hike. It was fantastic. Posted pic on fb. Having trouble loading to a blog to show on here. Will try again.

Oh, Dana, do hope Boomerang is okay! This morning when we arrived in the dark at the Balloon park a man was throwing a lighted boomerang way up high. It was fun to watch. Just thought of that when I saw your post.

I hope Boomer is okay. I can't imagine what he got, but he is still not acting right. Wouldn't take an ice cube from me just now. I keep trying to think back to when he started acting funny. I can't think...I'm pretty sure he was fine on our walk, but now I am second guessing.
LOL Lynne! When the guy was here he said we had a water leak too. When it rains, it pours! We will take care of that when we get home. Have had this trailer 10 years and we have really put the miles on it.
We are fine without the furnace. We have warm clothes but also the oven or burners and we do have a small electrical heater. I also brought my electric lap blanket with me. We are fine! It is just such a nuisance to have to wait for the repairman.
DanaMo, keep a close watch on Boomerang....given his antics, he could have swallowed something that has become blocked. Ordinarily I wouldn't worry about a short time of not eating and vomiting just once. But with the fact he is a swallower, don't wait too long to get him to the vet if he isn't improved by the morning.
I do have to say the desert is beautiful right now. I guess the rain brought out all the blossoms. Every thing is blooming!

I know LYNN they are not able to get the correct wording/chargesin the polygamy case...and with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms they have their work cut out for them...All the laws require that someone accuse, and the community goes into shut down and silence. Those who spoke up were over the legal age of consent and they have their own families to protect because they would have to invovle them also as they enetered in the contracts to make multiple wives...It is very frustrating.

We had to use an electric heater in a trailer once, but it was one of those that I do not trust (red hot coils), so we unplugged it when we went to bed and used lots of covers. It did get cold.
I have had a house fire. I get very paranoid for a good reason.
I like the heaters with no red hot coils. The ones that look like the old-fashioned radiators.
I do not think the Westboro people have any interest in being Christian. They just want to provoke people. It serves their purpose if you give them a reason to sue you.
They came to our church with signs saying things I will not repeat here. We were told that they just want to make you do something that will give them the excuse to take action against you.
LOLLY I agree, I am concerned about burners and oven for heat...

Do not worry!In this trailer, Jack can boil water for tea and then the trailer is warm. lol Or, we could bake biscuits and it would be terrifically warm. Also, the heater does not turn red. It is a little thing that blows warm air. No problem! Also, nothing will be on while we are asleep. We will be bundled under blankets AND it is just NOT that cold.
Had a great dinner. Tonight we had our rolled flank steak and a great bottle of wine.
Have been watching a cam at the Balloon Fiesta and they did not have the glow tonight. I feel so sorry for the vendors and folks that expected income from the fiesta.
Talked with Laurel. She had two parent conference with the boys teachers this week. All is fantastic. Feel so good tonight. Jacob has had a rough start in first grade, but the conference went well. She said he is trying so hard and is way above all in his academics. His problem we believe is his size. He is the size of a 4th grader and he is only 7. The teacher also needed to realize that he is just a little boy and an intelligent one at that. He is going to be tested for the excellerated classes. He has had some definite problems and tonight we are feeling fantastic!
Oh, no! Do not want them to ruin Grey's. I am recording it at home.
I think they have ruined House. It has become to weird!!
Going to dry my hair....that will warm up the trailer. LOL

There were signs about homosexuality, etc. It was aimed at our church and some others nearby in town. I really have no idea why. The Presbyterian Church, Methodist Church, and Episcopal Church are very close together, and the Baptists are just a few blocks away. As far as I know, nothing had happened to cause any protest. I did not go anywhere near them that day.
Lolly, I hope everything works out well for Jacob. I expect you have it figured out.

A gracious good evening from snowy, cold Lake Tahoe! We started out today with snow, then snow/rain, then heavy snow with big, fluffy flakes, then just a steady, light snow. Going down to 20 degrees tonight, with a 50% chance of more snow. Tomorrow: Sunny, high of 56, low 26, no chance of rain or snow. YAY! We check out of here tomorrow at 10 am, and go back down into Carson Valley, NV to Andrea D.'s to spend the day with her.
BTW, I checked with the concierge, and the walks here at the Marriott Timber Lodge ARE heated! OOOOoooh--fancy schmancy!
Lori, praying VERY seriously for LeRoy, Andie, and Bobby. Just feel SO sorry for them! Really glad that all 3 are back with you again. Your care is probably the only real stability they have had in their young lives! Did the person who had adopted LeRoy give him back?...You've guessed it--we miss Emma SOOOOOOOOOO much!!!!!!

While shopping today we found a pet store ("Dog.Dog.Cat.") and got a Christmas costume for our girl--she's going to impersonate a Christmas tree! Also got a refrig.

Present temp...43 and 66 inside the trailer. The plan for in the morning is to turn on the heater, but not the coffee pot. When it has warmed up some, we will turn the heater off and the coffee pot on!

Oh, we had a stinkbug today. Bright green, fluorescent green. Kathryn got a bowl of water and I got a broom. I managed to hit the bowl with the broom and water went everywhere, but I got the bug too. Hunter grabbed it with a paper towel and dispatched it to the toilet. Kathryn mopped up the water.

Yes, Hoda, they ARE TV shows!!!! Interesting play on words with the old anatomy book and the TV show--main character is named Grey, and she is a med student/intern/resident!!!
Speaking of which---when Andy started her transcription classes, she needed a Grey's, and I just happened to have two, so I sent her one! We all help out when/how we can!!!
