Goodnight Judy. Hoping your neck feels better in the a.m.

It is early but I have to rise early tomorrow and am fading fast. Will try to watch as much of the game as possible -- would hate to miss an all FG event.

The night light, honk, is on for all the, honk, late nighters. Restful sleep, honk honk, for all. Prayers for Hope, Liesl, Bobby, and Alvin.

stronghunter said...

Fading here, too. I got up early and stayed busy.

Went to Dick's looking for bowling shoes. Not impressed with their customer service. They did not seem to care whether they sold me any shoes or not. They did not.

I hate it when a clerk says, "What we have is on the bottom shelf over there" and walks away.

The guy at the bowling alley was very nice and gave me a lot of information. Just having a bit of a problem because they do not open until about 3:00 PM, but I think I will go back and buy the shoes there.

hedgie said...

UGH, Lynne.....she didn't eat it, did she????

Lynne2 said...

wow, that's pretty bad Shirley.

stronghunter said...

GO SKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lynne2 said...

no Lynn, she just picks them up and they release the toxin from their skin and she gets all frothy. she is obsessed. She seems unaffected by the taste. Dr Baker says not terribly much of a problem as long as she doesn't make a habit of it. But she's doing her best to make a habit out of it. She has had some major behavior changes recently. And not good ones.

stronghunter said...

They had some odd-looking plaid shoes and that was it.

The guy at the bowling alley showed me several different styles and explained the advantages of one kind over another and told me what the prices were. I had not even joined the league then, so I was not ready to buy. He works nights because that is when the customers are there.

Mema Jo said...

I had to reboot - pc went down.....

stronghunter said...

Kathryn has not been happy with the customer service at Dick's, either.

Lynne2 said...

amazing how he went from hero to villain in a few short seconds. Wonder how much pain he is in.

Lynne2 said...

Guess customer service is becoming a thing of the past any more...

Customer service at the shop at the bowling alley was just fine. It is very nice to find that. I think he might be the only person working at the shop there.

Lolly said...

Amen!, Lynne!

hedgie said...

Update from Lynn/Sue

:( My heart breaks a little more every day.

hedgie said...

Do you remember that awful FB page that was advocating for killing Lily, etc.????? I THINK that our oft-repeated REPORT THIS must have paid off. I can't find it anymore---I wanted to see if anyone had the nerve to post anything about killing Hope, and it's not there that I can find.

Mema Jo said...

Sexy Rexy to Hightower for the touchdown!!!! Get use to hearing that ;)

hedgie said...

Dallas settles for another FG. 16-12.

stronghunter said...

Thanks for the link, Lynn. So sad.

Mema Jo said...

Very sadden with Hope's report.

Lynne2 said...

SO, I guess they KNOW Hope is dead. That sucks.

Going to the shower and bed....ready to face plant into my laptop. Will have to see the score in the morning.

stronghunter said...

Good night, Lynne.

hedgie said...

I find it rather sad to read that Lynn advocated for baiting, but I guess I understand his reasoning. Still doesn't seem right, tho'.

stronghunter said...

I keep thinking of all of the things they did to get Hope through the trials and tribulations of last summer.

Hoda said...

Thanks LYNN for the Bear report. They seem pretty sure that Hope was killed. Sad to hear that...

I also see the game is still on and from what I understand a TD put the Skins ahead of the Cowboys...and mostly the scores have been with Field Goals.

Good thing JO's lap top is back in business and it seems most everyone is watching the game except for DANAMO and JUDYE and I would guess by now LORI must be asleep.

Lynne2 said...

I can't believe anyone would even attempt to shoot a bear with a .22
I can see where baiting would eliminate wounded bears, but geesh, why these things have to even be thought of because of irresponsible hunters.

NatureNut said...

I can't stand this bear business. I always thought baiting was unsportsman-like, but see Dr. Rogers helped put it in place for clean kills.
I won't be writing any authorities about it---I know I wouldn't be CIVIL!!

stronghunter said...

Judie has also left us. She has to teach a class tomorrow.

Lynne2 said...

Strange irony isn't it, that Hope was saved by the difficult decision to interfere with nature's course, but was taken from us any way. So sad. God wanted her, and only just let us keep he a little longer. I hope she didn't suffer any....

Lynne2 said...

It has been quite a year of loss for us hasn't it.

stronghunter said...

It truly has, Lynne.

NatureNut said...

I don't even care about the game anymore. I wish I knew the MN hunting laws. How could anyone go after an animal that isn't even an adult?????

Lynne2 said...

OK shutting down, will watch this last attempt, and head for the shower.

Good night everyone and prayers for all!

stronghunter said...

See you tomorrow, Lynne.

Costume Lady said...

I am furious about the baiting issue. Let the hunters seek and find their prey, as most deer hunters do. It's like shooting fish in a barrel!
Recall the gentleman with the SNOWMAN AND GOOSE, feeding the birds, which brought in other wildlife...he was taken to court for the appearance of baiting (don't know how that turned out).

I'm wondering why the bears can't be sprayed with orange-glow paint to identify them as reserch animals?

hedgie said...

Hmmm...okay so that awful page is still up....LA Times article has it...wonder why it's not showing when I did the search.....

stronghunter said...

That sounds like a good idea, Wanda. Spray painting the bears with something bright.

Linda said...

Good Evening Football Fans!! It sure is a good game tonight, especially with all the fans on this blog!

Have had a few tough days with my migraines and I am not completely out of the woods yet. Today was better than yesterday and Sunday was better than Saturday.....so I am making progress!

Just wanted to say Hi to all of you and hope you're all doing well. I have lots of catching up to do, but am having difficulty reading!

If I can stand it, I will can again tomorrow! Ugh. Dennis brought in easily two bushels of tomatoes again this afternoon. I'll be able to open a shop before long!

Anyhow!! Love to all of you and enjoy the rest of the game!!

stronghunter said...

Hope you feel better very soon, Linda. Sorry about the migraines. Not fun.

paula eagleholic said...

Just read the Lily update. I understand the reason for baiting, but do not like it. I do know that hunters there are allowed to take cubs that are over a year old...they are not supposed to take one if they see if with a parent....and we have to assume that Hope was alone. I know that the bear my boss killed years ago in Canada was a small young bear. I'm sure the hunter knows he killed Hope, otherwise he would have answered Dr Lynn. I sure wish they would paint the research bears as well. Such a shame.

hedgie said...

Dallas settles for another FG. 16-15.

hedgie said...

Good night, Lynne, and Judie, and Linda.....sorry you are still suffering with that darn migraine.

Shirley, is tomorrow your bowling day? BTW--how is Kat's eye?

IMHO---the paint will not keep hunters from shooting the bears....a good taxidermist can remove it. And you can bet your bottom dollar that the "kill" was intentionally one of the beloved bears.

stronghunter said...

It is bowling day, but I have a doctor's appointment.

Linda said...

One more post for tonight as I just skimmed today's posts:

LYNN - Poor little Liesl! I'm so sorry she was so sick, but relieved to know she is on IV liquids and meds to settle her system down. Praying it was just a virus and she will be back to her bubbly self in no time. ((((HUGS)))) xoxo

LORI - LeRoy and Bobby both sick? If so, that is not good news either. Hoping and praying for quick recovery of the little ones. They were doing so good. Good to hear one has been adopted though!! ♥

LYNNE - Saw you were having trouble with the new "dream" car but didn't see the end result. I certainly hope this one turns out to be a better one for you and Steve or that the dealer stands behind what he is selling.

My heart breaks for the loss of Hope. What more can I say? We watched, we followed, we prayed, and now she is in Bear Heaven!! So sad.

JUDY - Take care of that neck. I know how that feels. Hope you get a good nights rest and are feeling better in the morning.

WANDA - Sorry about the competition!! I'd choose your shop over that other place any day of the week!! You do such good work and put so much love into everything you do. Those who have shopped with you before will certainly be back! ((((HUGS))))

Night ♥

Hi, Everyone,

Lynn, so glad Liesl's blood work was OK. Good that the vet is keeping her overnight, and pumping her full of fluids. Hope & pray she feels much better tomorrow!
Prayers continue nonstop! You'd better get caught up on rest while you can! Sorry for a lousy night last night for both of you!...I'm sorry I forgot to take my camera to the dog park. I'll try to get a pic of Mona and other Emma friends next time! BTW, hope Carolyn is better!
Prayers continue, too, for Harley and his "Mom."

Golly, prayers for GG, too. Does she have pain meds to take until her next appt.?

Shirley, so glad that Will's job is now full-time with benefits! YAY!!!

Beep Beep. Congrats to "Da Boys."

Hoda, that was not a good example of a football game. A nail biter, but not really a good game.

Am in tears about Hope. All the pain in watching when Lily abandoned her and the help humans gave her to save her and to lose her to a hunter's bullet.

It's sad that another animal or bird that we become attached to is lost to us. It's been a hard, sad year for cam watching.

I'll say my goodnights and pray for all needs for human and animals.

God bless!

Ms Bookworm said...

Margy, I'm SO envious of your home-grown tomatoes! The store-bought ones taste like styrofoam in comparison. Tell James I said "Howdy!"

Diann, good to see you! Glad you'll have hyacinths in the spring. Hope you've been resting today.

Lynne2, oh, no! SO sorry to hear the "new" car is acting up! Hope the warranty covers it. MANY prayers! Aargh!

Lolly, glad the Dallas trip was so much fun!

Kay, so glad you're improving daily! Prayers continue.

OMG, Lynn! An EXPLODING toilet?! Yikes! Hope the poor woman doesn't have post traumatic stress! (I sure would!)

Wow, you all sure are rearing to go for the game!

Lynn, the video of the Washington Monument during the quake is amazing! It really shook for a long time, and I'm glad it wasn't damaged any worse than it was!

Oh no, Lori! Don't tell me LeRoy is sick too, with something else!
Prayers galore for the little fella. How is Bobby doing? Any news of Andie kitty?

Lynne2, sorry to hear of Daisy & Puddles' disagreement, and Puddles'
toad episode. Prayers that things will improve.

Hoda, I'm with you--I'm layin' low and remaining neutral tonight. Things are heating up here!

Mema Jo, glad you & Jenny had fun today, and that you were able to get rested up afterward.

Soooo sad about the bear report tonight. There have been so many losses this year!

Ms Bookworm said...

Linda, good to hear from you! Sure hope the migraines are GONE tomorrow! Prayers!

Looks like congrats are in order for you Cowboys fans. Didn't watch the game myself. Busy reading here! Thanks for the play-by-play.

Well, going to call it a day. Prayers have been said for everyone, and for all those creatures in need of healing. Making sure the porch light is on. Enabling both security systems. Sleep well, everyone! God bless, and goodnight. Love all of you! :o]

Have a good morning, I willl try to catch you before I leave for work; reckon your radio station wil be abuzz with the Football game news. I think the honking has ceased.
xoxo ♥

Lori O. said...

Good Tuesday Morning all, or is it? UGH!

I was ROTFLMAO with the big HONKing battle, HONK, HONK, then read the news of HOPE.

They should definitely know if hope was shot if the hunter sends in a bear tooth as required Minnesota Bear Hunting Regulations...

Minnesota Bear Hunting Regulations

Mandatory Tooth Collection: DNR researchers use the information from bear teeth to monitor bear populations. Every person who kills a bear must submit a tooth sample to the DNR. Postage-paid envelopes for mailing the bear teeth to DNR are provided at registration stations.

Lori O. said...

And Hunters are ASKED, NOT to shoot:

Please Don't Shoot Collared Bears

Although it is legal to shoot collared bears, hunters are asked not to do so. It is difficult or impossible to replace some of these research animals, and the data they provide, especially during the fall, is invaluable to bear management.

Lori O. said...

Amongst the pages of the above links there is also information on how to set up a Bear Baiting Station!

Lori O. said...

Best wishes andn Prayers for a speedy recovery for KAY, LINDA, Leisl and LeRoy.

DanaMo said...

Well lots of football last night. Hope everyone is happy with the outcome, although I suppose that's not possible. LOL!

Thundering and raining in Hagerstown this morning!

DanaMo said...

I like thunderstorms when I am going to sleep at night, not when I have to get up and go to work. Poosha!

Lori O. said...

Good Morning DanaMO! You were up extra early this morning.

You're right. Not possible for everyone to be happy and I guarantee that Redskins fans are not happy...Dallas fans really shouldn't be either. Dallas beat the Skins 18 - 16 and never even had a touchdown! Dallas won on 6 field goals.

Lori O. said...

Okay, DANAMO, what does POOSHA mean? Just curious. :)

Lori O. said...

Got it DanaMo...
Urbandictionary.com says it's:
when something smells bad and it is held up to your nose.
YUCK! My brothers did that to me when we were kids!

magpie said...

Good Morning Eagle Pals...

thunders here too, DanaMo...
by the way, I checked out a physics textbook at the second hand store yesterday.....Wow! That is some serious stuff !

Hi Lori, I guess my last post early early this morning should have referred to your classmates...that had passed away at middle-ages last week.
Young....too young. Saw your post on that a few days ago xo

DanaMo said...

Well I thought Poosha was my own made up word. Like oh darn or kind of a dismissal..."Poosha, you do not need to lose weight"

Lori O. said...

Thanks Margy. Yes, very sad and too young.

How was your afternoon with James yesterday?????

DanaMo said...

I miss my morning run with Boomer. I hope when the time changes it will be light enough for me to run before school, but for now, it's too dark at 6:00.

Too funny DanaMO!

I hope you don't say it around kids, they'd think you meant something smelly up your nose! LOL

But, I am always grateful to have a job...

Thinking of everyone and every pet who needs healing and encouraging prayers today....

My twitter friend from Australia that you have been praying for is having a procedure this week called SIRT which is:

Radioactive spheres (SIR spheres) are injected into an artery in the liver (pictured at right). The spheres are like very tiny radioactive seeds. After they are injected through the liver artery, they travel into smaller arteries that feed the tumor.

Once the spheres are in the tumor, they give off radiation for about three days. The radioactivity causes damage to cancer cells with little damage to the healthy liver tissue.

The radiologist performs the entire procedure through a small catheter placed within the groin artery. The catheter is guided through the vessel to the liver circulation with the help of fluoroscopy (real time X-ray). When the procedure is finished the catheter is removed and pressure is applied to the small groin puncture site.

Usually SIRT patients are able to go home the same day. Occasionally, patients need to spend a night in the hospital.

His family is going to New Zealand while he is radioactive. He is still in the fight for his life. Please continue to pray for him. Eaglet Momsters' prayers are da bomb!

And please pray for a Bluefield friend, Ron Parton. He has had severe GI bleeding, had 4 units of blood. They did a biopsy of a mass with no results yet. Bleeding stopped and they let him go home. He started bleeding again last night and is back in the hospital. Cancer markers are negative but CT showed a larger area of "suspicious" mass near his liver.

JudyE--the gift shop is on the NCTC campus. It is in the common building. If you come, when you get to the gate, tell security that you want to go there and they will give you directions. It is usually only open M-F until 2pm.
If you decide to come, we will try to arrange a meet and greet with you!

Good morning! Having a hard time this morning. Reading about Hope is just too much. Just sitting here crying. It is just so senseless!

Lynn, how long are they going to keep Liesl? Glad the tentative report is good from the techie.

Now we are going to need reports on LeRoy as well.

Need to call and make reservations for Annie at camp. She is not going to be happy with us!! Count down is on. We leave Monday!

Lolly said...

Lynn, if NCTC allows visitors on campus to go to the gift shop then on the way out take a "mis-turn" and gaze at the nest. Judy would love to just see the nest and possibly an eagle.

Lolly said...

And, Judy...if you go to the gift shop, take plenty of money. You will see tons of eagle "stuff"!

I am off to start my day. Tomorrow I get my do done but today I have on my list to find tulip bulbs!!

LYNN, any more news on Leisl since the vet assistant talked to you earlier?

Prayers for Sharon's friend in New Zealand, was his name John? And Ron in Bluefield.

Lolly, his name is Kris Anderson. I found out about him when he did a video and put it on youtube to his wife for her birthday and had Train's Marry Me playing in the background. He has been on Oprah in Australia and is really in for the fight of his life.

Heading out for mammo. Catch you all later on.
It's pouring, of course!!

stronghunter said...

Hope the mammo goes well, Lynn, ad hope that Liesl is home very soon.

I will be having a EGD on Monday. Nothing serious.

stronghunter said...

EGD=esophagogastroduodenoscopy. They will be looking at my esophagus. I have had it done before and they did not find problems then. I have a slight problem swallowing sometimes and also have some heartburn, so they gave me some medication for that. Samples at this point.

Got to use the GPS all by myself for the first time today. Am usually with someone else when I venture out to new places. It worked almost perfectly, though it thought my destination was across the street from its actual location.

Hoda said...

Good morning/ Good afternoon everyone.

LYNN Hope the Mammo goes well for you. Let us know also what you hear more about LIESL. I hope she continues to keep her food as she did this morning.

Hello Hoda Woman -- that's what Kathy Lee calls Hoda on their show on NBC.

Lori O. said...

HODA, I know your retirement schedule, but we must get you here soon! ♥

Hoda said...

SHIRLEY when are you going to have the EGD? Keep us posted. Good on you for using the GPS...

Hoda said...

THANKS LORI...Are the colours changing where you are? Yesterday for the first time I noticed a hint of yellow in the woods around the flat. I hear leaves rustling...It did not rain here for two months and now we are on our second day of rain...I closed the windows, but have not turned on the heat yet...

We have a collective heartache where Hope is concerned, so sad.

SHARON, very interesting treatment described for Kris. Prayers for him and Ron.

LYNN and SHIRLEY, thinking of you both as you have your medical procedures. May the outcomes be good !

LORI, hoping to hear the kitties are responding to their meds and that both will be 100% soon ! Any vulture sightings lately ?

LYNN, so far, so good for Liesl ! Can't wait to here she's on the mend and coming home to Mama !

LOLLY, I've missed a lot on this blog lately---where are you and Jack headed on Monday ? Congrats to you and all Cowboys fans. Not the most glorious way to win a game, but a win is a win, eh ?

LINDA, happy to "see" you back. Those migraines are no fun.

DIANN, hope your're feeling better with each passing day, you are in my prayers.
