Well, Judie, where are you?

Lolly said...

Thanks Steve for the new thread.

Judie said...

Good afternoon.

Thank you Steve. I sent a call over for the others. Hope your week is going well.

Thank you so much, Lynn. I really appreciate the humidity offer BUT....NO THANKS!

Hmmm. Starting to cloud up around here. Maybe a few more drops of rain. Yippee.

Lolly, you do have an exceptional hubby. I don't think Darth would notice even if it bit his ankle.

Judie said...

Lolly, you sneaked in while I was typing.

Maybe a Palmer visit this evening?

Mits said...

thanks for the call over Judy:)

Hold On & Wait for me

I have returned and you all are so easy to read on a 23" screen. Wow!
I won't need my magnifying glass anymore.

Checked out the Asia trail but didn't see Mits. Saw the little otters! You were there wern't you Mits?

Lolly - I commend you on your decision for Annie. I was deep down hoping that you would make that decision.

Marvin goes to Vets tomorrow. Mainly a check up with his 2 shots and the treatment of Advantage Plus which should cover it all.

Whoa! I opened my closet doors and didn't know if I saw Shirley or Deb.
I wish! I have so much to get rid of.

Andy that is great that you get credit for the vocabulary course.

OK It is time to head out to meet up with Alexis and her dad.

Men accused of beating Porky Pig at theme park
July 14, 2010 - 3:22pm

GURNEE, Ill. (AP) - Police said authorities at Six Flags Great America ejected two off-duty employees from the theme park after they allegedly attacked a female colleague dressed as "Porky Pig." Gurnee Police Sgt. Jon Ward says two young men took a photo with Porky on Monday afternoon, and then punched the mascot in the head 10 to 15 times.

Ward said park security detained the men until police arrived. He said the men wereissued local ordinance citations for battery.

He said the suspects denied the attack, but witnesses confirmed the story.

The 24-year-old woman inside the mascot costume suffered headaches and a stiff neck.

tee-hee----I did not go to the zoo today, Jo

Well, that certainly explains why Jo did not see you, Mits! lol

Hi,

Yes, I took my medication at 3:00.

Back from the store and the bank.

I bought some stuff to kill the crabgrass and poison ivy and a bunch of other stuff. A whole bunch of other stuff.

Also picked up some more pills since I am now taking twice as many. Boy, you really have to watch what they charge you. Originally, they told me $122.00. I said that I knew that wasn't right. With a phone call to the insurance company, it was changed to $30.00-something. The original amount was more than $400.00 before insurance.

I still haven't straightened out the mammogram mess.

stronghunter said...

Jo, I was at the store, so I couldn't have been in your closet!

Lynne2 said...

Hi all! Been a busy day, babysitting this AM and then Irvine.

anyone having trouble with Yahoo mail? Seems that once I sign it, it boots me shortly thereafter. Then I have to sign in again and everything is back, even stuff I've already read and or deleted, as new mail. UGH

Lolly, you have to do what's best for your situation. I had to make the same decision about giving a cat meds years ago because she wouldn't come near us and just hid all the time. The thyroid meds upset the tummy, taste horrible and as you now know, make for an unhappy cat/parent relationship when the cat resents being pilled. I know that the medication can be compounded into an ear gel, but I've seen not to good results with that, either. And the I-131 IS very expensive. There is a lot to be said for the quality vs quantity of life!

Deb, I think I read back that you are going tent camping on the Appalachian Trail! Sounds like fun!

I've got to go fix dinner for humans and animals. Puddles is on the S**T list...found her way into the litter box and that gross little beast pulled out a poop ball and proceeded to roll in it. So she's getting a bath and so is the rug. UGH. I really keep on top of those boxes too. She is a fast, sneaky beast and we are going to have to do some revamping around here to keep her away from the. Or I'm going to have to kill her.

Judie said...

Shirley, glad you took the meds and were able to get new ones for a whole lot less. Really have to stay on top of these things. Medicare sent me a letter saying "based on my income" but my monthly cost is based on combined income. Very expensive. We may decide to file separate tax returns in future. Need to look at numbers, etc.

Good thing Mits doesn't have to dress up as Porky Pig. Maybe the attackers are vegetarians.

Mits said...

yeah I played hooky....did not feel like driving the 3 hours home yesterday to go to meeting last night...which, by the way they cancelled, late yesterday afternoon...I would have not been a happy camper.....

Mits said...

Lynne, I have had a couple of snags with getting onto the blog today.

magpie said...

Happy Camper here...seeing the Still Cam up and running....

thanks to whoever/however many people at NCTC and who knows where else, got that taken care of....

magpie said...

Lolly
great, the burp cloths...thanks for putting those pictures up...
so, wasn't it last year, when you were cleaning (or was it clearning) the wine racks that something went kaplooie and you lost some favorite goblets?
Better luck this year!
And, you could have slept in after all it looks like....
why are service people ALWAYS LATE !!

I support you and your family's decision regarding Annie....and
mostly because, it IS YOUR Decision to make....

I take it that no one has seen or heard Palmer today, huh? Hope she hasn't decided to move on just yet.

Judie
your woodpeckers....tell us more...
Hairy's are bigger, than the Downys, and there seems to be a black "neckband" of sorts on the Hairys....

Just rechecked, Lynn....Palmer made an early morning short appearance around 6:29 that Paula mentioned...and then there were Palmer sounds after that appearance...

hedgie said...

Hi, Margy. Looked back-----she was heard very early AM but not seen!
Sounds like you all feast well at work!

Margy, thanks for the heads up on the still cam!

Lolly said...

Thanks Jo, for the heads up on Pooks blog. Loved the pictures of the elk birth. LOL at that little one trying to get his legs under him. So cute!

thanks for the heads up on Moosewatch Jo, going to check there soon

Has anyone talked with Suzanne or seen her anywhere ?

paula eagleholic said...

She was on FB on Monday

magpie said...

Well I decided to answer my own question...just rang up Suzanne...
she is fine
says HI TO EVERYONE !
is very busy at work, has a new boss and a new project and is headlong working on that to get it done, correctly!
She has not been able to check out the cams too much either :(

She'll be back around to say Hi
herself... when time allows...
she sounds great....

magpie said...

thanks Paula...
and eventually one of these days
I will get to the Facebook Challenge ! ☺
Maybe, when I retire...

magpie said...

Oh yes Suzanne says feel free to send pictures form the cams!
She has been checking emails at the library computer...
I told her about my computer worm and that I am not sending anything to anyone (links or pictures that is)

Calendars:
the one from Deb's sisters...this month, wonderful picture of one of the Ospreys that Deb worked with. think it is probably Janie that is holding it.
Wanda's - Hidey in the Nest
Bob Quinn's - His first prize picture of the Thomas Point Lighthouse...
figure you all have seen these but, well, sure is a nice way to watch July pass through

magpie said...

okay back to work
I get so easily distracted
think I'll go check MooseWatch first then keep listening for nest visitors

Mema Jo said...

Usually each morning Suzanne touches base with some of the Momsters by emails. Glad you called and got to talk with her. Suz's bedtime is still 8pm.
Lynn So glad you are up/running and can take care of the business at hand. AND Lynn does need headcounts.

Lolly said...

I am off to prepare dinner...leftover ribs and baked potatoes. Yum! When the boys spend the night we do not have leftover ribs. Joseph eats them for breakfast. They did not spend the night this week....hee hee, I get ribs!

Judie said...

Back for a minute.

Lolly, love the burp cloths.

I also enjoyed the dolphin bubbles and the Russian cake art. Took two Russian courses in college. My professor, died recently, would have loved them.

Thanks for sharing!

Fantabulous pics of elk birth!

Owls are nice but sure hate the copyright logo across them.

Palmer in the TREE.

magpie said...

I couldn't get elk birth to open up but the pictures are great

That tease Palmer....what great incoming and outgoing sounds though...

Do I have vertigo, or was that nest a'swayin?
think it was Palmer's rocking!

magpie said...

pm in the am for Joseph is it Lolly ??
well enjoy the pm meal in the pm

hedgie said...

All quiet so guess she just was passing through.

magpie said...

I think she is still passing through and around....hearing the calls now and then

cicadas are making their sounds

and Infant Moon is OUT! Look West
If the moon is the center of a clock, then Venus is about at 2 o'clock...give it a little longer for more darkness....it's a beauty of a pairing

magpie said...

emailing family is on my list of things to do, very convenient to be at the nest while doing that

Mema Jo said...

Joseph sounds like some people who love to eat cold pizza for breakfast. When hubby and I have pizza dinner there isn't one slice left!

Mema Jo said...

I think Pook does that, Lynn, due to her friend's pictures being copied to other sites without giving her credit. She explained it when she had the 1st set of pics on her blog for this year. BUT like you say - it is rather distracting to say the least.

Mema Jo said...

Spidey has been starting his web as soon as the sun goes down. Can't see through it whatsoever.

magpie said...

criss cross night light Spidey web at the nest
:(

magpie said...

at least there is a little more lingering light on the still cam

pizza, anytime!

Lolly said...

Yes, Joseph loves cold pizza for breakfast. He has also been known to go to the refrig and get a cold bowl of lima beans and eat them. The boys eats all the time!!! Both boys eat and eat!

Yes, Margy, it was some time this past year that the wine rack came falling down. Crash! Bang! Boom! I was only cleaning the glasses this time and did NOT take down the rack.

Mema Jo said...

lol I think that my hubby and Lolly's hubby just may be related or at least lived next door to each other.

We are lucky ducks Lolly! I bet Wanda will be right up there with us!

Lolly said...

Spidey has become very creative!

Jack has not noticed the carpet yet and I am dying to talk to him about it. So hard for me to keep secrets!

Mema Jo said...

Alexis has gone home and it was a very nice evening with her. She played dress up and grocery store and Pappy made her a paper airplane that sailed quite a distance into the yard and made her very happy.

magpie said...

Allrighty then Lolly...good !

Okay, I am going to pitch Venus and the Moon again...nice amber color...hope some can see this !
might be a little early for anyone west of the Eastern time zones yet

I think I hear katydids from the NCTC nest site.....another exotic Summer Sound......

Lolly said...

Yes, I agree with you, Jo. I have always known I was a lucky duck when it came to my jubby! And, I agree with you about the Capt. and so glad that you have a winner too!

Lolly said...

Yep, still very bright outside here!

magpie said...

those are all nice words and thoughts Jo.....
I can picture that airplane a'sailin and a little lass's joy

magpie said...

Lolly if you can't keep the carpet secret, then you have to tell us what Jack is crafting for Open House !!

hedgie said...

Does anyone remember the name of the turtle we were talking about earlier this week? Was it an African something?? Whatever it was, forgot to tell you that the Medical Examiner character on the new show Rizzoli and Isles had one as a pet in her house----and it was HUGE!

Lolly said...

That is a nice picture to think of, Margy. Now think of this...Jacob played a game at Six
Flags..guaranteed win. He won!LOL He chose a batman cape and wore it all day. Asked Laurel, "So, how much did it cost to play?" LOL $5, but he thought he had won it!

Lolly said...

So far I am keeping that secret! ☺ It is almost complete and it is fantabulous!!!!

Lolly said...

Made especially for ONE of you!

Lolly said...

Yes, I hear the night sounds at the nest, but have not heard an eagle in the tree. Nice to think of her there, though.

Lolly said...

I think I can pass on a turtle, a big turtle, as a pet in the house, thank you!

magpie said...

It's the thought that counts!
Hope Jacob continues to think forever that he won that cape!

OK, so you CAN keep some secrets....

Love this NCTC nest...first sounds of Spring Peepers, then Cidadas, now Katydids...before hearing them in the "Wild"

magpie said...

going to leave you all some room now....
have to finish some emails

daggone it forgot to check ISS times and missed it at 8:58 pm

African tortoise something, I think, Lynn..cannot remember the third word

Mema Jo said...

At the end of Rizzoli - did you see the baby one in the cage?
That turtle has the most beautiful shell!

Lolly said...

I googled African Tortoise and found a web page for photo albums. A lot of people have African tortoises as pets.

Lolly said...

One photo showed a tortoise watching TV. They might make a good pet if they can be house broken. They don't shed!

Lolly said...

Going to watch Castle tonight. Forgot it last week.

Judie said...

It is approaching that time.

Lolly, if the turtle were Jo (that Jack stashed in the cow pasture) I know you would love to have a turtle in your house.

Time to go off to search for the sandperson. Will be off to do some errands tomorrow.

Turning my light off but leaving the night light on for others coming in, going back the hallway, off to tub, off to shower, waking up from recliners. Will be back for a visit in the a.m.

Prayers for Carolyn, Karen, Kailey, Delphia, and all others in need.

Interesting that Lolly had the clearners in and out so quickly! And they sew! Does Jack know??
Lolly, if Annie can live well w/out those meds, you are justified in stopping them.
So glad to know Isla's chicks are flying! How advanced! Hope Isla regains her strength for safe migration. She is a wonder.
Did Jo go to the Zoo? Wonder if she saw any turtles? I saw one on butterfly count Monday!!!Hope to get some pics on tonight or TH.
Gotta go nibble something--only had salad so far.
Prayers for all in need, hope those under the weather get better fast.

OMG, awful news: Phoenix collapsed and died.
And I lost the FB link.......will keep trying to find it.

hedgie said...

Here's the announcement---it is buried in tons of comments on FB:
Doug and Sheila Carrick, the Hornby Eagle Group and friends, are shocked and saddened to report the sudden collapse and death of our beloved Phoenix. A rescue effort was underway, but his decline was sudden and swift. We ask that you remember him by supporting the work of the Mounainnaire Wildlife Rehabilitation Center... (http://wingbeats.info/), who would have moved heaven and earth to help. We love you Phoenix, and we mourn with Mom and Dad Hornby.

Lolly said...

I have it Lynn. She apparently was sick and died today.

Mema Jo said...

Oh good heavens - That is making me have tears...... I am going to the link Lynn. That little guy was so healthy looking.... BEagle also commented on him...... I was just on the site 2 days ago and the long range view was on...... Oh I can't believe this. So many many followers. BBILW

Lolly said...

From fb....

last week Phoenix seemed to be picking up on eating and yet was behind in many ways, part of that was the eating. Some people wondered if she had a cold, this week she seemed to have regressed and gotten kind of lethargic. Earlier today someone said she was sneezing and breathing seemed hard. I heard a bang and those that saw said that... See More she lost her balance and bumped into the camera box. She laid out with her wings widespread and was having labored breathing. She did get up for a moment and then laid down and continued to have the labored breathing. They could not get someone up there that could climb and get her out of the tree, it was impossible, doubt they would have made it. She had a last effort and was fighting and then just laid down and stopped breathing.

Lolly said...

That is very sad. There are a lot of heartbroken fans.

Ms Bookworm said...

Good evening, everyone,
Gosh, so very, very sorry to hear about Phoenix! What a shame.

Am getting pretty tired. It was really hot here today--got up to 89 or 90. Got everything watered well very early this morning, and just kept the house closed up all day.
Need to adjust to the higher temps--it's been unusually cool here, up until now.

Going to watch some TV, then hit the hay. When in doubt, hibernate!
Leaving the night light on. The porch light is automatic. The eye scanner security is enabled. (No Russian spy types allowed!) Prayers said for everyone--especially for those needing healing. Sleep well, everyone, and will talk to you tomorrow. God bless, and good night! Love each and every one of you! :o]

Hope Update

Mema Jo said...

Well, dang it all. I didn't watch Phoenix enough that I could have seen what the regulars saw in a somewhat deteriorating condition. That is the second year in a row that tragedy has happened at that nest. Prayers for all their followers and for Doug and Sheila Carrick

Lolly said...

It was really awful as they were watching it on the cam. Once again we are reminded that as we watch these cams we get to see nature at its best and its worst.

Lolly said...

Yes, I really feel for those that were regular watchers. This has been my fear keeping such close tabs on Hope.

Mema Jo said...

The newest 11 pictures of Lily and Hope
are spectacular!

hedgie said...

Even tho' we all will be feeling very sad about Phoenix, I sure feel sorry for the regular watchers who feel about the Hornby families the way we do about Belle and Lib. :(

Mema Jo said...

I don't like going to bed with a sad
heart! I just need to accept that nature was calling the shots.

hedgie said...

I know what you mean about Hope, Lolly. At least for the time being, I am feeling more hopeful about her survival now that Lily is caring for her again. sure wish she could talk and tell Lynn why she deserted in the first place.

Goodnight, Andy! That was sure a quick visit!

hedgie said...

Heading for tub. Goodnight my fine, fowl friends. Prayers for so many. Peace.

I am going to head back the hallway.
Lots of prayers for this evening before sleep.....

Good morning,

I have just a moment this morning. So sorry to read about Phoenix. I had not been watching that nest as much this year, but I remember they had a tragedy last year as well.

Good that you saw Palmer this morning. Nice to know she's still nearby for awhile at least.

Good news on the bear front. Nice to see that Hope and Lily are still together.

I will be leaving Will and George to hold down the fort for awhile as I must go to a meeting.

There was only one, Lynn. The cam is still running and Phoenix body remains in the nest.

Lolly said...

I am off to mow. Just got on quickly to check fb and to say Good Morning! Have a good one!

hedgie said...

Here we go again..live cam only stayed up for 30 minutes. ARGH.
And here's a good one: local funeral homes' website has been hi-jacked. Their web address now takes me to a MO funeral home, no matter how I access it. Weird.

hedgie said...

Lolly, give me a link to the cam, please. The one I have shows a healthy, living bird.

hedgie said...

I am really confused. I have two Hornby sites......one that is a zoomed out view that I guess shows Phoenix' body. And a close-up view with a very active eaglet. HELP. I'm losing my mind.

This message from Doug Carrick about the passing of PHOENIX:

ol-di-rol: (06:41) dougcarrick: (06:16) This is sad news which nobody was ecpecting. We will keep you all informed at every step. The plan is to get Phoenix down from the tree to find out exactly why this happened. At the moment our own tree climbers will not climb the tree, having no experience with handling eagles, so we sill have to get a tree climber from Vancouver Island associated with Maj of Mountainaire Avian rescue. The timing of this is unclear as yet but again we will keep you informed. I feel the cameras should be left on for a reasonable time for viewing but I have yet to contact others in the Hornby Eagle Group (HEG) for all decisions - we don't act on our own but in consultation with each other and with the viewers as best we can. Once again we will keep you informed. Please stop chatting for five minutes so this message will stay visable for others to read. Perhaps someone can repeat this update from time to time.
