Good morning. It is raining steadily here. I put most of the rest of the plants on the steps. The ones still on the porch are getting well misted because they are on the edge.
The steps are blocked now, but I should hope anyone who really wants and needs to see me would move them to get to the door.
We are getting a good, drenching rain here. It stopped for awhile last night, but I heard rain even over the ceiling fan as I was falling asleep. It would be nice if it would rain all day. Only thing is Hunter has a picnic for his baseball team.
Kathryn's MIL is trying to help us find a place to stay near them. She's excited that we're coming. They have a travel trailer in a small campground. They like to spend time there in the summer.
just checked rain gauge, less that 1/10 of an inch. Patio garden soil only wet about a half inch down. Looks to be almost over according to radar but still a chance for storms this afternoon, too. I'm hoping it's been at least enough here to make the grass green. But next chance of rain is on Tues, and only a 30% chance, then nothing else in the 7 day. We need a whole day or 2 of this kind of gentle rain!
Lynne. You sound like your own weather station. I could probably get more accurate weather reports from the blog, it's just that the weather can be drastically different there than here.
It's a beautiful place. I took a summer school class there when I was in high school--at Western Carolina College. Later, when I was in college, I worked there one summer at a YMCA conference center.
We ended up with 1/2" of rain here overnight...more than I thought we would get.
IWS report -
We saw 6 of the 7 eaglets today. K-08 seems to be down below the nest on the northern face of the hillside. His signal was strong and I heard him vocalizing, but it was too close to the nest to try to get a visual. When K-07 seems to get upset, the adults are probably delivering food down below.
Yes, sounds like 08 wandered a little too far on his outing! Both eaglets at the WE nest are boys. Guess he'll learn to fly from there, or figure his way back up. It's not all rock there, the hillside down to the nest is like a field.
Interesting post at LOL blog...they say that once the young fledging migrate their first year, that they stay in their wintering grounds for 3-5 years until they are sexually mature, and then return.
The fledgling osprey here return after 18 months. Interesting.
Good morning! Still cloudy here. We have had a total of .8 inch of rain. Not the multiple inches they predicted. Happy with what we got, now if it will just rain again in a few days. However, it looks like rain is over for the next week. Sigh....
Last time we went to Port A we saw Osprey. Will be looking again for them.
Going to the Farmer's Market in town this morning. Hoping to get some good home grown peaches, bumper crop this year. Also want to get some tamales and some jalapenos. Oh, and need to get some home grown tomatoes.
Good wet Saturday Morning in Eagle Land. Light rain most of the night.
Thanks Paula for the CRC rescue..I guess it was her time.
Shirley you must either choose to be out of the closet or in the closet....can't keep going back and then coming out... just kidding.
Loretta I like the turtle named Jo--Mema Jo ( :
I do miss my squirrels that would eat out of my hand where we lived before. I also miss watching the babies trying to reach the cherry tree branch from the top of the shed. We had made a big area in the shed eve (spelling) for adults to have babies. It was so so much fun.
GOOD MORNING... STEVE must be out of town again! Getting filled up here:)
It is 73 humid degrees here, going up to 83° and may rain again. We did get more rain last night after I went to bed...but not enough to do ANY GOOD here. Hope MEGAN got more than I did!
AQUILA is Latin for Eagle. Love the sound of that word!
Jack just called me out to the yard. We had a turtle in the pond! Big ol turtle! Finally caught him in a net and Jack has taken him far away. He could not get out of the pond and we do not want him eating any fish! Got pictures, think he said his name was Jo! Hard to understand turtle talk.
Have posted pictures of our morning excitement on Hawkwood blog. We think he has been in there for a while as his shell was faded. Jack had seen him sticking up his head but he thought we had a big frog in the pond. Jack took him down the street to a pasture that has a large stock pond if he wants water.
Had some rain here and wish it were more. So badly needed. Overcast and muggy.
I guess I missed something really important during my sleeping sickness -- is Shirley in or out of the closet? Is that really why she had to buy new clothes? Do her children know about this? Lolly and Jack found Jo in their pond and have taken her far away? As the blog turns...
Dana, I miss the squirrels that would take peanuts from me. Had one I called slamdunk who decided one day to tour the downstairs of our house. Walked in the back door, walked around, came back through the kitchen and then out the back door.
Probably going to search for food in a little while. Wishing everyone a nice day and especially hope Paula, Lynne, and Megan are on the mend.
So far as I have been checking on Aquila. Since names really, really meant something Biblically...
Aquila in the New Testament is always mentioned with his wife Priscilla. They were a solid couple, working together and knew their "stuff."
If eagles mate for life like some facts sheets I have seen, then you can see the significance of the name Aquila. The eagles work together in all aspects of building their home and raising their young.
Well, one never knows when I will be in or out of the closet. It's a mystery.
Just made a reservation for the Maggie Valley spot. They are booking up there for some kind of festival. I had a choice between a 1-bedroom cabin with a futon that's not on the creek and a 3-bedroom cabin (really a trailer) on the creek.
I went for the bigger place. Kathryn had to go pick up Tom, and she left me to make the choice, so I splurged. We don't exactly spend a lot on vacations as it is. It is only 2 miles from her in-laws and there's space enough for them to come visit us. Might as well enjoy ourselves.

Well, are we at the split or not? Blogger seems confused about where we are.
Okay, it said 399, then it said 400+ when I put in one message. I am experimenting now.
Oh, now I see we've split. Hi Lynne!!
Checking on the nest. It is empty.
Lynne heard something though.
Interest at the WE nest...just a minute.
I hear a Palmer call.

Hi BEagle!
The WE nest.
The chat with the IWS nest is suggesting that #08 cannot get back to the nest. The other WE chick is upset because the adults continue to feed #08.
But I did see that a fish was dropped in the nest for the lonely chick and was enjoying a meal.
The IWS staff has been trying to locate little #08 and it's antenna is giving them positive vocalization.
I am hearing Palmer now.
My apologies. I just muted the volume at the WE nest. That may not have been Palmer I heard but rather...#07.
Hi BEagle and Shirley....Shirley, sounds like fun, your road trip to NC! Is that in the mountains or near the shore?
Paula is right about the previously obvious turtle shell.
It has moved to the 9ish position in a triangle of sticks.
The one near the cam has been uncovered from the sticks and still there.
The one below the noon position is still there.
There is something next to the tt shell nearest the cam tree. It's off to exact right.
I think it could be a tilted tt shell, don't you?
Hi Shirley. I thought Lynne took off and I was the only posting.
Hi Lynne.

Maggie Valley is in the Great Smokey Mountains. It is almost on the Tennessee border.
Lynne. You sound like your own weather station. I could probably get more accurate weather reports from the blog, it's just that the weather can be drastically different there than here.
Must be the mountains.
Yeah, we need a day or two of rain for sure.
Just heard Palmer!
Just to make it clear. I DID hear Palmer earlier. Her nest was the only cam I had running at THAT time.
Make that the Great Smoky Mountains.
LOL Shirely! I like watching the radar when storms are coming!
GREAT SMOKY MTS???? SOOOOO jealous! We want to go there someday, badly!!! Don't think it'll be in the budget any year soon.
I meant BEagle regarding the radar...oops!
Good grief.
I did not even say GOOD MORNING.
My morning postings may be more notes of apologies.
The cam is noisy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even an adult would be nice to see on the royal nest.
It's a beautiful place. I took a summer school class there when I was in high school--at Western Carolina College. Later, when I was in college, I worked there one summer at a YMCA conference center.
well, dogs out and fed, cats fed, breakfast eaten, going to get dressed and head out to do some fishing at the lake for a couple hours....BBL
DON'T FORGET TO GRAB A PIC OF PALMER IF SHE LANDS!
well, we'll look forward to seeing you pics when you post them!
BBL
Good morning everyone!
Good raining looking day to all.
Heard a knock at the cam.
Enjoy fishing Lynne!
Paula. Thank you for the update on Miss Grace, the elder eagle found on the 4th.
It is sad but at least she passed of old age and not injuries or bullets.
I am sure the raptor center made it very sweet for her.
The LOL chicks are busy nest flying.
They want to go join Isla in the air.
I like how the LOL chicks take turns flapping. It must feel good to them to feel the wind fluffing their feathers.
Morning, all!

Hi Paula,
I am sure #08 is doing ok and will have to learn to fly from where he/she is.
It's mostly rock there isn't it?
The adults eagles will be busy training the eagle eyes to two spots.
Prayers going up for a little more rain.
Rather..."the adult eagles."
I guess I don't need to correct my postings and I sure don't fell like previewing.
You all can read it right until words like dorggy come up or tpicjdpwm.
lol

Similar to the TH nest when one of them went too far. It took a while to get back on the nest.
The Lake Wash eaglets are early-morning branching.
I am hearing noises at our cam. With the high winds, it may be a branch but I am always hopeful to see Palmer.
Oh.....WE 07 is actually flying back and forth from the lower rock to the higher rock.
That was exciting!!!
I def see 1 turtle shell in the nest...just turned a tad, facing shell side up, not upside down.
Not to say there isn't any activity at the PH nest but haven't seen anything there for days.
Good SATURDAY MORNING....July 10th, 2010...have a good one:)
Our noisy hum just started.
TH nest is MT
it sounds like the hum woke up at our nest.
Interesting post at LOL blog...they say that once the young fledging migrate their first year, that they stay in their wintering grounds for 3-5 years until they are sexually mature, and then return.
The fledgling osprey here return after 18 months. Interesting.
Well I'll be.
The people on the IWS chat are talking about their spouses ages.
72 years old and 73 years old. What fun! Never too old to watch the birds.
That is interesting Paula. They are a community bird.
I wonder why eighteen months though.
I see the 3rd egg is still in the LOL nest, too
The hum took a hike...
Well, sorta
I think the tt shell upside down under a stick just below right of the obvious...is still there too.
The hum comes and goes.
raining on the o's at BWO

Fish delivery at WE?
Oh yeah, nice fish. 07 whining
Zoomed in on egg at LOL, funny it looks so small compared to the chicks
Wray feeding 07 Aquila is his name. 08 name is Dakota
Love to hear the chortling when the eaglets are being fed.
Never looked up the GK to see what Aquila means. It is a name in the Bible.
Will check that out later.
THAT fish is history.
Hi Lolly.
Enjoy shopping at the market.
Good wet Saturday Morning in Eagle Land. Light rain most of the night.

It is not given in the GK and that's as far as I got.
Eagle...nice meaning for Aquila.

Good wet morning from the valley. Not raining now but must have through the night... all looks wet!
Dana did you have some news concerning Karen. I've been praying for her and have sent her snail mail a couple of times so she knows we are concerned.
Buzz away.......... May need to turn off sound at cam but then I don't want to miss and Palmeralarm!
Have had cam up while working with pictures. Have heard what could possibly be Palmer near by.
Looked through Hawkwood Gardens, Lolly
Lovely lovely lovely - Even that big old turtle.
I haven't heard any Palmerlarms at our nest this morning.
Finishing my last cuppa joe, then off to get some things done. Heading to GF house for cookout tonight.
Sounds like your night's rest helped you to feel better, Paula. Glad to hear that
Lolly, cute little turtle! Your crepe myrtle is huge! Yard looks just gorgeous!
Good late morning, everyone.
Had some rain here and wish it were more. So badly needed. Overcast and muggy.

Have a really good time Paula. Fun, laughter...heal.
Judie. You are soooofunny.
Mema Jo I will be sending an email to you soon.
Thanks Paula!
LOL, Judie! Always love your posts!
Time now for me to eat breakfast and get a move on if we are going to the market.

However, I would still like to see the corresponding GK word.
Go...I must!!

sounds great Shirley...love the GSM
Haven't been there for a long time. Looking forward to it.
Sounds nice Shirley
