My sister, "the Reader" has just called from Cooperstown, N.Y. they are there to see Cal Ripken inducted into the Hall of Fame. Says they are there with about a 100,000 of her closest friends, says buses are still rolling in, but they are having a good time. Hubby and I were supposed to be on this trip, but then he had a conflict with work and our friends from Arizona are coming in today, and down to the beach on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Jim advised me of a video clip on the Puleston site and it is Fantastic.

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE...

Wasn't that clip of the Ospreys interacting like live birds a great insight into what's really going on behind all those still shots we've been getting?! And the vocalizations too! Hope you enjoyed it.

Have a great day.

Fellow Momsters,

I have just finished the mid-year accounting of eagletmomsters.com merchandise. I am proud to announce that I will be sending a check to the Friends Group of NCTC in the amount of $294.91. This brings the total donations raised through the website to $750.20 since inception.

I would like to thank each and everyone one of you that has contributed to this effort by purchasing the eagle items. I plan on continuing to sell the items at the Shepherdstown Farmers Market, plus I have been invited to two other fall festivals. Also, I would hope to be at the NCTC Open House on Saturday October 20th.

Once again, thank you, eaglet_momsters!

NillaWafer said...

Storms have been all around us today, think we are finally going to get one of them. This is a first for me here, been watching an osprey fly back and forth and now has been joined by a second one, and is circling right in front of the condo, flew by with a fish in its talons about 45 minutes ago. Have seen them on Assawoman Bay, but not directly over ocean....Going to shut down and see if storm comes thru, sounds pretty close and strong.

NillaWafer said...

Battin Down The Hatches Mits... we had bad storms all night long and alot of rain the grass has really perked up... Ok Paula checks made out and in envelope ready to be sent out... I do hope that the group informs us of what the money helps purchase for NCTC that would be nice to know...

paula eagleholic said...

Nilla - I sent out an email some time ago about that...I'll try to find it for you later....

paula eagleholic said...

Heading out - have a good evening!

floralgirl said...

It's raining, it's pouring.....

As usual storm blew right past us, got a little 15 minute shower. Did batting down the hatches, but nothing, will keep everything bungeed just in case something does eventually comes this way.

Good Evening all eagle watchers out there! You all have had a busy day from what I have read.

FLORALGIRL Megan, Soooo glad to hear that you finally got tome good rain. Your dancying must have helped. Get ready for more as Paula is out dancing someplace tonight. Maybe she will stick a little dance for rain in there someplace. :)

carolinabeachmom said...

It sounds like Oct. 10 is another important date to look forward to. Open house at NCTC. Excitement, excitement.

carolinabeachmom said...

MITS It has looked like we were going to get a good one later this afternoo and this evening, but I think it went north and south of us. We might get it yet tho. So glad to hear that Megan finally got some.

Isn't it fun to watch storms coming at the beach. I love it; seeing where it is raining and not raining and the different lightning all around. I just don't like it when it strikes the houses, which is does a lot of down here, if it is a good one.

carolinabeachmom said...

JIM Thanks for the osprey video. I hae a nest right in front of my house and different places around my house. The electric co. put poles with landings and roosts on them, when people started building in here and cutting their trees with nests down. Usually you wake up with their screeching and good to bed with their screeching. It seems so very quiet when they start migrating from here about mid August. Then the sea gulls come back once the ospreys are gone.

carolinabeachmom said...

Sister calling. Have to go.
Sleep tight, peace and love to all.

Good morning, eagle world. Nice night out, big bright moon when you can see it. It's shining up north, but lots of HEAVY fog from Point of Rocks to this side of Leesburg. I'm talking 30 mph fog! Heavy. 67 at home, 75 here, and looks like they got a lot of rain here, lots of puddles. I got some too this weekend, but not very much. Think I got Wanda's 17 drops on Sat, and a bit more than that on Sunday. Thundering like mad last night, but all noise, no rain. Bummer. But at least we got some.
Big fire at home, could see the smoke and light in the sky, and tons of fire trucks. Sure hope nobody was hurt, and hope it wasn't a barn and no animals got hurt! And don't know what was going on down here, but lots of Sheriff and unmarked cars were driving very fast on the 25 mph area of Rt 7. No sirens, but lights on some, not all. Turned off on the left almost at Rt 50 in Falls Church. Man, all kinds of excitement this AM.
Ok, hope all have a good day. Will try to look back on blogs and see what I missed.
Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!

Just want to say

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR VICKY
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

AND MANY MORE....

Happy Birthday, JustVicky, hope you have a wonderful day!!!

I have good news! (Well, for some, some may not think so.)
I got emails this morning from both PETA and Humane Society of the United States. "Nike has suspended Michael Vick's contract without pay, and will not sell any more Michael Vick product at Nike-owned retail at this time." And more good news:
Reebok has also made the decision to stop sales of Michael Vick apparel, stating:
"While we respect the legal process we find the allegations against Mr. Vick too disturbing to ignore, therefore, we have decided to immediately suspend selling Vick NFL product, both at retail and online through the Reebok website."
Personally, I'm THRILLED!!!

Suzanne said...

Osprey in BW. Looks like most of the sod balls are gone, only see 1 in the nest. Falcon ledge MT, just puddles. Fin chick has been preening, did see a hoodie this AM, but MT nest now, and Norma, your 3 stork babies are in the nest standing around. Looks like it's raining (what a surprise), maybe they don't want to fly in the rain. Owl in hotel, dark in Mrs Swallow's nest, Benicia MT, and too dark elsewhere.

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING SUZ--
I heard the news about Michael Vick also. I hope, for once, that a Big Time Sports figure gets more than a slap on the wrist. This will be interesting to follow.
We had a really good rain Sat. night. I think it to be about 1 inch. It rained off and on Sunday. Megan said she got rain also, so she won't have to water her flowers for a while and I won't have to water my veg. garden. Hooray!
Have you been able to see the Swallow chicks yet? They have grown so much in such a short time.

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING TO VICKY--THE BIRTHDAY GIRL.
Hope you have lots of presents, cake and LOVE today!
Wanda

Costume Lady said...

Going to get my COFFEE and wait for it to get daylight so we can see some of our favorites. BBL

Suzanne said...

Good morning, Wanda. Glad you got so much rain! I got your 17 drops Sat, and a little more than that Sunday, but that's about all. It was thundering last night when I went to bed, but all bluster... not a drop of rain, just noise.
No, still too dark to see the swallow chicks, but I keep checking on them. I'm anxious to see how much they've grown.
I'm thinking Vick will get more than a slap on the wrist. Too many people and organizations are angry, but we'll see what happens in November when he goes to trial. I hope he gets the max fine, AND jail time!
I've been watching the Fin chick this morning. He's been grooming and doing wing flaps. I'm gonna really hate to see that guy go, I just love that nest. I'll be glad when he fledges, but I'll miss him.

Suzanne said...

Wow, huge wing flaps in Finland! Oh, no, now back to grooming. Guess we need to look beautiful for our first flight!

Suzanne said...

Parent visiting chick in Finland! And Hoodie in other nest. Very cloudy in 2nd nest!

Suzanne said...

Oh my, Falcon on bar in PA. They're usually gone by this time of day!

Suzanne said...

Somebody is in the tree at Kent. Hotel owl left for a few, but now back. Mom still with chick in Finland, other Fin nest MT. The 3 storks are finally out and about, they've been in the nest all morning. Both owls in Benicia, they've been out for quite a while too.

normabyrd said...

GOOD MORNIN' EAGLE BUDDIES!---Will be spending day with ELLIS--MADDIE & CARM---(loves of my life)---GRANDKIDS in Shepherdstown today!------SEE YOU ALL LATER!---

Suzanne said...

Morning, Norma. Sounds like you're going to have a wonderful day! Enjoy, and talk to you later.

Suzanne said...

That may be Albert in the Kent tree, it's an eaglet. Nest in MT. Has Eggbert made an appearance lately now that he's learned there is a big world out there? I don't think I saw him last week at all. Out and about, I guess.
One of the boats is coming in on 2nd Fin cam.
OH EGGBERT HEARD ME! He's in the nest!!

Suzanne said...

Oh, and just in case you're still here, one of your storks is back in the nest, Norma.

Suzanne said...

Well, darn, eaglet gone in Kent.

Suzanne said...

Feeding time for all 3 storks!

Suzanne said...

Oh, they're doing construction on the PA falcon ledge. Guess we won't see them for the rest of the day! Man, you couldn't get me up in one of those things for love nor money! Looks like some sort of mobile scaffolding...with a green net bucket type thing you can walk around on. Nope, not a chance!

carolinabeachmom said...

GOOD EAGLE MORNING TO SUZANNE, WANDA AND NORMA. I finally dragged myself away from CNN and crawled out of bed for the day.
