Good Morning, Eagleland !

6 Days and Counting!

Anonymous said...

Dana,
They are not sure how long between mating and egg laying.

Eggs take 35-38 days to hatch.

Anonymous said...

Can anyone tell what she is eating?

Anonymous said...

Hold on Paula I'm going "in" for a look. Hope I'll bbr

Anonymous said...

I don't remember them doing any shots of down inside the nest in Florida. Does anyone?

Sorry Paula couldn't hang onto that moving tree, didn't get up too far.

Anonymous said...

I know we are trying to watch eagles.

Can't help myself. I rechecked on our Buta Buta she is sleeping now.
Ahhhhhh

Suzanne said...

Thanks for the new thread, Steven. Did you see the older jeuvenile in Kent by any chance? Have you seen our kids in your travels? What's with all the jeuvies hanging around the nests this time of year. One in BW yesterday, one in Kent today, and I guess they've seen them in FL too.

Thanks for the heads up, Paula!

Anonymous said...

Eagle back in Florida looks like it is eating again.

Anonymous said...

Hello to everyone!! Hey, Paula, I did give out several flyers about the website. And one of my friends said she ordered some things from the site this week. So I will tell even more people this weekend and hopefully you will see some more traffic on the site. BBL, back to work, hands are sore, too much effort to type or use mouse...ouch...

Anonymous said...

That was Dana with the heads up!

She is still eating...must be a big catch...they also backed off a little, good view of nest and tree now...not so wobbly to watch.

eagle-eyed sharon said...

Going out for a while. BBL!

Anonymous said...

Eagle at Florida finished eating sitting up on branch.

I still can't believe I said last night I was going to watch Bones. Then remember Rockefeller and called Mom. Then layed down and out I went.

Mits said...

Yes, Dana I will send them to them, haven't had a chance to respond to their e-mail from Tuesday.

Mits said...

Must have needed extra rest, Dana.

SUZ I can't imagine how exciting that must have been when you saw one on the BW nest---Thanks for sharing----GREAT ARTICLE in this Winter-2006 "Nature Conservancy" magazine re: First bald eagle born on Santa Cruz--or in any of the Channel Islands--- in more than 50 yrs.---It's quite a story---

Norma,
That was a great article. IWS is doing wonderful things on the Channel Islands. You all may remember that is where the first bald eagle hatched in the wild in 50 years this past April. - You can view it at

I have the links to the cams on the momsters site - the link is

I do one at a time
(1) click on Internet Explorer then I have different cams in my favorities. I click the cam I want.
Got that one. I make it smaller.
(2) I click Internet Explorer again do the same thing but pick a different cam. Got that one. Make that one smaller.
They are all listed on your bottom tool bar, after about 5 opening internet explorer and picking the cam I want. on the bottom tool bar they all go together like a list to scroll down. hee hee it is neat

OOps Ed wants me to watch an Adam Sandler movie bbl

Mits said...

NORMABYRD There are 9 in our class, the closest, I got to him was the kitchen, where they prep the food, that is where we will have to sign in before going on duty, its right next to where they monitor the cams.

Mits said...

Think the eagle at BW, is staying put, so no juvie can come visit.

normabyrd said...

PAULA---I'm not familiar with IWS--Are you a member? Why would you become a member? Nature's Cons. does so many projects in my area---Does IWS serve all over the world?
Thanks for introducing me to it---

Mits said...

I have never figured that out Dana, just bring them up individually from the bottom, but you have them all up at one time, don't they go down when you try to blog?

Mits said...

BW GONE, so much for my theory

normabyrd said...

MEMA JO---I always think when you feel beautiful----you look beautiful----I guess we are going to have to wait to see if our KIDS are dropping by the "old home place"???---Not too much longer---Aren't you PROUD of MITS?---I am!!!

normabyrd said...

SUZANNE---Do you think that JUVIE would attempt to "claim" the nest---She certainly is moving the furniture----Must be FEMALE---they chose the nest----What time are you watching the nest? a.m.?----

Anonymous said...

Eagle back in the FL nest

Mits said...

Yes, he/se is Jo, such a great shot of the eagle...Norma are you getting these eagles in FLA????

Mits said...

That is a purty eagle there in FLA.

Anonymous said...

Ok, eagle is back at FL...was wondering if it hadn't moved in 1 1/2 hours....

She just left before I could post...was catching up...

Norma,
IWS does do stuff all over the world...

I think eagle is in the next tre....

Anonymous said...

They are a smaller organization that works with smaller animal populations...more like specific to certain areas...like the channel islands populations...

Anonymous said...

Nope, was my imagination, eagle not in the next tree.

Anonymous said...

Snow is all melted at Kent...The juvie that was there would be too young to take over the nest, and as far as I know, they build their own once they find a mate. I suppose they might use an abandoned nest or a backup nest.

normabyrd said...

PAULA---I was browsing in the FL Audubon looking for eagles, etc. & I found the IWS---It's similar to Nat. Cons.---Thanks for introducing me to it----

normabyrd said...

PAULA---I was "half teasing" with SUZ---but the pics she sent me today shows the juvie building the nest---sticks in mouth, etc.---

Anonymous said...

Mits if I tried to tell you I would mess your mind all up lol

Anonymous said...

Ahh Buta Buta is laying asleep in the nest. Outside the nest on the concert is Lun Lun sleeping. Mommy and child.

Anonymous said...

Doesn't seem like I missed alot from the comments.

Anonymous said...

bbl going to play a game

normabyrd said...

No MITS--I found the EAGLE CAM in FL----but all I have ever seen is an empty nest----I used the site you gave me---it keeps telling me I can't see that page, etc.----Then I began getting---check back in 30 sec.

Anonymous said...

It is 60° here in the valley. Rain should be coming in tomorrow. Had a short shower a few minutes ago. My Frosty The Snowman on my porch is going to have a melt down!

Mits said...

Been getting the same msg on and off since last night, Norma..Jo, put a pic of Frosty up...I've been collecting snowman for a very long time...love them til I have to bring them down from attic and put them back...some stay out all year, because they aren't all a Christmas theme...and I just love my snowmen:):):).

Anonymous said...

Norma - maybe that juvie moving around the sticks was "thanks for letting me drop in and rest" present!

Dana - Got the link for Buta-Buta voting for names. What? No Buta buta or Buta ball name on that list as far as I can see!

Anonymous said...

Paula, Buta Buta will always be our nickname but it's not ever going to be official! lol I think I like Ping or one of the Mings.... I hope they don't vote for a Mei or Tai........

Anonymous said...

Whoa! Doors just closed on our DC pandas. Both are Safe & inside!

Anonymous said...

Tai is darn good at finding those treats..

Mits said...

Tai thinks he is HOT STUFF know that he can eat that bamboo.

Anonymous said...

Yes, the little prince is growing up. I surely hope he can stay another year with us....

normabyrd said...

MITS---TAI is "HOT STUFF"----Be sure to tell him WE LOVE HIM, next time you see him!!!!!---That's so COOL you collect snow men--(catch)!----It really is---You can probably guess what I COLLECT---DONKEYS & Political Buttons-----They are hard to come by---most don't use them any more----I think collecting is addictive---but FUN!

Mits said...

Yes, Norma I agree, additive, but, fun. I will not be collecting pandas or eagles...going to try to downsize over the next few years and try not to bring any more stuff into this house:):):)

Mits said...

Sent those of you who I have e-mail addreses Loraines' resonse to the juvie pictures, she was delighted to get them because she missed the visit today. Said parent was in there after dark last night squawking at something, thought now that maybe it was the juvie wanting to get to the nest.

Anonymous said...

Mits do you have DirecTV or cable for television?

Mits said...

Anonymous said...

Do you get the (not the NFL package) but the NFL channel on DirecTV it is 212 called NFL Total Access On Location 5-8pm they do pregame reports, interview, analysis of the game.

Mits said...

We have it on channel 180 here, its had alot of pre-game stuff, sure it is what you are talking about...

Anonymous said...

When the NFL talk show went off at 8pm EST the football game came on that channel tonight. Cinn. & Ravens

Suzanne said...

Good morning, eagle world. It's absolutely BALMY outside this morning. 65 at my house, up to 66 enroute, and back to 65 here in Falls Church. My jacket (carried) is still in the car. May live to regret that though, it's supposed to get cold, but later this afternoon, I think. I hope.

Raining in and around Frederick, but not here, though it has rained and the streets are soaked.

All have a great eagle day, have to do some things, then read the blogs to see what I missed.

Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!

Oh, we made it to FRIDAY!!! Happy Friday, all.

Suzanne said...

Believe it or not, one of the adult eagles is in the BW nest. It's still dark, but you can see the while head. Just sorta looks like a ghost, cause it's too dark to see the body or feet. Just the head. Man, they're up early...5:30. Earliest I've ever seen them.

Anonymous said...

Morning, Suzanne..so warm out this morning, just walked the dog wearing flip flops(me,not the dog) Kinda like the calm before the storm right now. Woried about the wind coming with this front. They say 50-60 MPH gusts later today and this evening, Hope it is all gone by morning.

Suzanne said...

Morning, Floralgirl! Yeah, we have wind advisories in my area. Not looking forward to that. I always have to go find my outdoor cat bowls after heavy winds...usually next door someplace. Don't really have a protected area for the outdoor kitties, it's covered, but not enclosed. Need to get some of those weighted bowls I guess. good idea, then the opossum can't use his paw to tip them over, he'll have to learn to stand on them and stick his snout in and eat.

They'res an adult eagle in BW, between the web you can see the white head, but that's about all. Been there since about 5:30. Early birds today!

You selling wreaths tomorrow?

Suzanne said...

Getting light in BW. That is/was not an eagle. It was part of spidey's web that only hits part of the cam light. It's moving in the breeze! Well, fooled me!!

One just arrived. Can see the eagle this time!!

Suzanne said...

Sittinf right next to the place in the web that I thought was an eagle head. Eagle is taller than that place! Wish it was lighter, got a shot of the landing, but it's too dark to see. Just sitting there preetty now.

Suzanne said...

Mate just arrived and they're squaking!!!

Suzanne said...

Well, daylight in BW. One went for breakfast, and is now enjoying it.

Suzanne said...

Uh oh, cam is locked in BW.

Anonymous said...

Yep, Suzanne, selling wreaths tomorrow in the same place as last week. If the weather is decent it will be busy, lots of activities in town and a parade at 11 am. As long as it's not raining I will do well.

Suzanne said...

Dang, BW still locked up. Sent an email to Lisa.

Suzanne said...

BW cam is back, but the one eating breakfast is gone. Other one still there.

Mits said...

GOODMORNING, SUZANNE AND FLORALGIRL Hold onto your flip-flops, Megan, its going to be a bumpy day. 65° right now. I hate it when it changes so abruptly. Zoo day training today. I was hoping to take a nice walk around the zoo after classes, but might just to have to dash to car and get out of the city before the winds kick in.

Suzanne said...

Floralgirl I hope you sell out! That would be nice for you! Hope you have nice weather, but it's gonna be cold. They're saying 45° vice the 65° we're supposed to get today. Big difference.

BW up, still 1 eagle there.

Anonymous said...

Oh, have fun at the zoo Mits!! Don't worry, I'm used to freezing my buns off this time of year. I don't mind standing out in the cold, just as long as the wind dies down. Have a good day, everyone. Off to work, loooong day today.

Suzanne said...

Good morning, Mits! Training day, huh? That should be so fun! What an awesome job you're going to have. And working with all those animals! Think I'd love that. Well, 99% of it...I'm sure you can figure out the 1% that wouldn't be so cool. Goodness knows, I scoop all my litter boxes first thing in the morning while the kids are eating breakfast! That's enough for me! But would love everything else about it.

They'res an adult eagle in BW.

eagle-eyed sharon said...

Good morning, my eagle buddies. I hope everybody has a wonderful day!!! :):):)

Suzanne said...

Later, Megan. Sell out tomorrow!!

Mits said...

Just a volunteer out on the trail,Suzanne, I will be working with the public, around the animals, not with them, although there are jobs where you can be a trainers' assistant, let me see how this year goes before I move on to other things.

Suzanne said...

Yeah, Mits, I know you're a volunteer, but you are at least near the animals. You can watch them when you want! In other words, you're a heck of a lot closer than most people! I think trainer's assistant would be kind of cool, but that would also depend on the trainer. Type of person, I mean. But you have time to look and watch the employees, as well as the public. Not sure I could deal with the public, my fuse is way to short! I have absolutely no patience!

Suzanne said...

Top o' the morning, to ya Sharon. Feel better!

BW locked up again, dang!

Mits said...

Since I will be representing the zoo, got to keep emotions under control..might throw me to the lions, if I don't. Most of my volunteer experience has been with schools and hospitals, this will be a different challenge.

Mits said...

Tai keeps standing on Mei's back to get a better view..

Suzanne said...

Well, now that's the power of sending thought elsewhere. I'm working on an email to Lisa telling her the cam is down again, and bam, it's back up! Our lone eagle is still there.

Mits said...

Noticed the freeze frame for a long time at BW, then boom its back on.

Suzanne said...

Mits, I'm sure you will do fine. I learned many MANY years ago to bite my tongue! Ya even get used to the pain! (Oh, that's a sick statement!!)
