good morning all.

I had a brief chat with the boss later yesterday, and she apologized for making me feel like an intruder.

as for the client, kicker is ...she is my age. has college age children. ?????? I understand and feel badly that I have had to cancel on her twice....in a row. but doesn't some common sense kick in there somewhere? perhaps after she thinks things thru...who knows what may have happened in her day prior to the phone call...right?

Olivia has an art class this morning. not sure it will be over the top, but we are going. exploring different type of media such as pastels, etc....then making a book mark.

I hope everyone has a great day...

before I forget yet again, SANDI your granddaughter is just so cute!!!! I want to just pick her up and snuggle her!!!

any word on Ms. Margy yet?

light and love to all!

Good Morning Eagle Buds !!!

A hearty thank you to STEVE for re-Threading us and to the beautifully feathered JANET for the call over.

JO, thanks ever so much for relaying MARGY's message assuring us that she's just very, very busy and will be back! She's a dynamo, like so many of you gals on this blog.

Happy Birthday to James The Wise Kidster---can't believe he's 15 already!

Stories about work woes remind me that while aging has it's negatives, it also brings with it RETIREMENT, BLESSED RETIREMENT!

My goal for the day is to straighten out a Norton snafu. They've billed me twice, once for the current puter system and once for a laptop I've not had for several years. I have to figure out which is which so I don't cancel the wrong one. Hugh could do it in a flash, but I'd love to accomplish it without his help.

He's heavily burdened with work and getting set to take off for WI soon. His 90 year old mother must be moved into full nursing care from an assisted living apt.. The facility is insisting that she must be moved on the 29th. He, Julie and Seth will leave for there sometime between the 24th and the 27th, returning by New Year's Day. They're having a friendly debate re:departure date. I've assured them I fully understand! I spent years working in a casino/hotel where I often worked on holidays. Stan and I rarely celebrated T'Day or Christmas on the right day, but we did git er' done! Malcolm will be with Penny n' me and we'll have a jolly good time!

Speaking of my dear Stan, he and I were married on this date 29 years ago and had 22 wonderful years together! Well, actually more than that as we dated for over 4 years before we took the leap! I'll always miss him.

Love and Prayers for all in need!!!

Email from Margy late this evening.
Very very busy with work, college-level [work-related....] class every Mon and Tues 6-9 pm since middle of October, Family,
stepdaughter and her father came
visiting since Dec 7. James the Wise 15th b-day tomorrow. And dozen of other small things are keeping her busy. Margy is alive and well and busy. She'll return when things slows down.

Kay said...

Thanks for your nice compliments, girls! I was about a month shy of 49 in the pic--I wore that easy care curly "do" for a number of years, but am now enjoying my very grey Judy Dench every bit as much!

Kay said...

HODA, enjoy that post-dental office dessert! I'm thinking of SANDI, too. Hope it all goes well and is a great stress reliever for her!

Good morning.

Thank you Steve for the mid-week thread.

Congratulations Janet. You're getting quite the headdress of feathers.

So happy to know Margy is just very busy. Between work and family visit, she's more than over-booked.

Happy Birthday to James the Wise. Will send an ecard via Margy.

Kay, what a lovely picture. Just betting you look as beauteous ala Judy Dench as you did 26 years ago. Enjoy the happy memories. Good luck with Norton.

Safe travels for Hugh and Julie and Seth. May the move for his mom be an easy one.

Hoda, I too am thinking of Sandi and hoping there will be no drama regarding her plan. Enjoy your dessert.

Enjoy the last of the morning. BBL

Checking in from school to find a new thread. Easy day here - 1/3 of the kids on our team are at the high school having a dress rehearsal for the chorus/band program tomorrow night. Teachers don't want to cover new material with so many kids missing so everyone is doing review/fun stuff, which means my kids don't need support. So I am catching up on paperwork (and emails - shhh, don't tell my lovely principal).

Up to this point, I have only scheduled myself to be in my BFF's classroom one period a day and have assigned paras to cover the other 2 periods that have special ed. kids in them. Sadly, several of my kids in one of the classes are not doing well in ELA. One of the kids who isn't doing well is the young lady whose mom is suing the district.

So, I am going to have to trade places with the para who is in that ELA class so I am there to provide the support. The change starts January 5th. It means I will be in ELA 2 class periods per day - back to back! Makes me nauseous to think of spending 2 hours of every day with a teacher I don't like, respect, or get along with, but the kids' success comes before my preferences.

This could get interesting!

Will check in after school with news about my meeting with the personnel director.

Later!

Hi there Sandi and Judy!

stronghunter said...

Good afternoon,

Kathryn found that one of the poser cords does work with her laptop, so I am happily typing away.

Went to PT this morning--it's the last one on my schedule, but I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. PT guy told me to come over after I'm finished with the doctor so he can go over things with me.

Funny you should mention practicing, Judie. Only once did he mention practicing at home, and that was for just one of the exercises. Today he asked how much I'd been practicing. Didn't want to say, "But you didn't tell me to practice," so I said I'd practiced a little, which was true, but very little.

Doctor has said I should join a gym and keep practicing, and that sounds like a good plan, so I will be looking into it. I have a friend who goes to the Y and another one who goes to Gold's Gym, where I have a discount via AARP.

stronghunter said...

Good to know Margy is keeping busy, but we are missing her.

Will be interested to hear about Sandi's meeting this afternoon.

Judie said...

Hey Shirley, check into the Y for exercise. Frank goes to a county recreation center and it has lots of equipment. Very inexpensive and you don't have to be intimidated by the exercise addicts with the "perfect" bodies.

Sandi, how very unfortunate about the schedule. So sorry. Maybe something will change. Hope so.

Going to grill chicken tonight. Need to think of something as a go-along with. Well, I think putting my feet up will help my brain conjure up some possibility.

Sandi said...

Got a phone call from the personnel director at 1:25 saying that she was tied upand had to cancel our 1:30 meeting. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am. Meeting is now set for 1:30 tomorrow.

Judie, sadly there is no other choice but for me to work with the kids in this particular class who are doing poorly, even though I dislike the teacher and the thought of being in her room for 2 hours a day. They are "my kids," my responsibility. My most important job is to make sure "my kids" move on to 9th grade in June.

My special ed. chair knows how much I dislike the ELA teacher and she would never have told me what to do. It was MY decision. It's about doing the right thing.

Need to make a grocery list and hit the grocery store. Later! BTW, sorry I forgot to check in again this morning!

Kay said...

JUDIE, the Norton transaction was a breeze, at least if it really works as I was guaranteed by someone akin to Peggy (Peggy Sue?). I did receive an e-confirmation, but I won't be convinced til' mid-January that the right puter was cancelled. Somehow I always imagine such items of business are going to more complicated than they really are.

SANDI, as usual you are putting the kids ahead of any angst you may suffer. What you do is a real calling and I admire you so much!

The kids have finalized travel plans. They'll leave here early afternoon on Christmas Day and return by late evening, Tuesday, the 30th. All subject to change when dealing with a 90 year old mom/Nana. So, we'll have our usual Christmas Eve dinner and gift exchange and that makes me very happy!

SHIRLEY, I don't know if you enjoy swimming pools, but I'm loving aquatic exercises and I wonder if your Gold's and the Y have that available. While bowling is moving and better than nothing, it isn't really an over all good exercise, so I can understand the need for something more. I also empathize with anyone who doesn't really like exercise--I envy the way my kids and grands are attuned to exercise and nutrition--wish I'd known about the benefits a lot earlier. As a kid, especially growing up in Tucson, I got a lot more fresh air and exercise than kids today do, but it pretty much came to a grinding halt once I was grown and no longer had my own kiddies to keep up with.

Hi Kay,

I know the Y has a pool. My friend swims there every day. There are two branches of the Y in the area. We're approximately halfway between them. I hear the Gold's Gym has a pool as well. I have a "Silver Sneaker" card that I hear is good for some kind of deal there. My friend there says they have special exercise sessions for senior citizens there. Gold's is closer.

Good evening to all ♥

Judy, FB also will ask if you want to leave the page. I am constantly
being asked here on the blog... I
would assume it has something to do
with the "Prove you're not a robot"
setting. Steve said he had not changed any of the settings.. Perhaps
it is related to Google? I just click on Leave Page.

Mema Jo said...

Lolly - sorry you had a black cam.
It was up and running all day. At times when it hits the 30sec refresh
it does go black. You can bring it back with the F5 key. However I don't think if your using your phone that you have an F5 key.

Good Evening!

Glad to hear that Margy is OK, and just very, very busy. Been missing her!

Hoda, congratulations to you and to Nelson folks for all the funds raised for some very worthy causes!

It's been cold and cloudy here today, after some very hard rain last night. Haven't had to turn on the sprinklers in well over a week! By the way, I'm LOVING this rainy weather! I could easily live in Washington state. Ken hates it, though.

Need to head for the living room and watch TV with Emma for a while. Ken got tired, and just went to bed.

Hope everyone has a good rest-of-the-evening, and a good day tomorrow. God bless, and goodnight. Prayers for everyone.

Have agreat day all. Will report in about my meeting but it will be later b/c I have a nail appt. after school.

Good sunshiny morning.

Berry nest is MT. Our nest has black screen. Decorah has a nice camera setup and looks like a frosty morning there.

Going to putter around this morning. May visit the library this afternoon.

Lolly is ahead of me. I will start baking cookies this weekend. Oh, do plan to make a Chess pie today. Never made one. Will report success or not.

Jo, thank you for the Tori update. Just cannot get over what an amazing young woman she is.

Wishing everyone a great morning.

Lolly said...

Good morning! I am up and on the computer earlier than usual as I have not read the paper.

Still just have a black screen on the still cam. What player do we need to see the cam? Something on my computer is apparently not set correctly. HELP!!

Jack is still asleep. May have to go down and get the paper myself. Oh, no!

Sorry you have two days next week, Sandi. Tomorrow Laurel, Joey and the boys are OUT! The will arrive here Christmas Eve morning and stay until Friday sometime. Yay!

I have 15 cousins on my mother's side of the family. We were all raised close together. We are all doing great except for my cousin, Norm. He is the one that the surgeon made a mistake and he suffered strokes. They are still coming to terms with this. One aunt had 5 children. The spouses of my 5 cousins are in a bad way. One wife had breast cancer, but is a survivor. However, one wife (who I am close to) has brain cancer, one husband (lives close in Denton) will learn today if the tumor that was removed from his leg is cancer, and the wife of another died in her sleep Sunday. Cause...cancer! 5th wife of cousin I think is okay. Prayers, please, for Sims family. It is really a rough time for them. Flo, who has brain cancer is putting up the good fight. She is part of a study and is under going an experimental treatment.

Hear Jack stirring!

If anyone has a suggestion for the still cam let me know!

grannyblt said...

Good morning all.

I think the camera needs a restart.

I am still housing a small critter (appears to be a chipmunk)in my TV room. It isn't wildly trying to escape. It has sprung the trap a few times and knocked a couple of things over, but quiet for the most part. If there are no live capture results today, my cat will be called upon to remedy the situation. After all, he started this situation.

I hesitate to do any Christmas baking, because I end up eating most of it and my waistline can attest to that fact. Last year I made some cookies that had Andes Candies bits that were very good. I couldn't find the bits this year, but got some mint chocolate chips I may be forced to use...

Good evening all! Hopping on the blog later than I expected b/c Denny, Kevin and I went out to dinner to celebrate that I will no longer be a teacher after this school year! :) 107 teacher days left!!!

The personnel director said that I will maintain my teaching position until a para position opens up in late spring or early summer, so I am at no risk of not having a job next year. Once I accept a para position, the board will approve my resignation from my teaching position at the same meeting where they approve my para position, so I will only be "without a job" for about a minute.

She also said that she will do her best to assign me to my current school, since my preference is to stay where I have been for the past 8 1/2 years and said that, if she couldn't, she will assign me to a school no farther from home than my current school. She couldn't have been nicer.

It was an especially nice day b/c my BFF got herself in deep hot water with the administration by being rude to one of my special ed. students and to the special ed. department chair (I wasn't in the room when it happened, only heard about it from the department chair who was "verbally attacked." My BFF spent her planning time getting ANOTHER written reprimand placed in her file. Yes Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus!

Stayed up too late last night watching the Survivor season finale so I will be in bed very early tonight. The kids really haven't been too bad - I hope I can say that for another 3 days!

Goodnight all! Thanks for sending that positive energy my way!

Good Morning Eagle Buds !!!

JUDY, Jordyn shines! She obviously loves to perform and I just love to see a bunch of uninhibited kids on stage.

SHIRLEY, one way or another it sounds like a healthy knee is in your future! Modern medicine amazes again.

LOLLY, so sorry Laurel is in agony with a tooth. Is there no dental insurance with her job or Joey's? Lousy time of the year to have that going on, both in terms of pain and financially.

SANDI, glad you were heading for work with a happy heart! The end of the tunnel is now in sight!

PAULA, love it when you pop in and bring us up to date with your doin's!

I've procrastinated all week and now absolutely must go to Kroger today. Want to stock up for the next two weeks as I'll not like having to go out much once Malcolm is with us.

Love and prayers for all in need!!!

Good morning.

Grey and overcast this morning. Another dreary day.

Belle was in the nest a few minutes ago.

Lolly, very sorry for Laurel. Tooth pain is so miserable. Hope she can get relief soon.

Kay, as I remember, this time of year in your territory requires staying prepared with provisions. Malcolm and Penny have certain expectations such as food. lol

Shirley, hope that knee settles down for the holidays. Is the cane still helping?

Yippee! Sandi's last day of school for 2014. Raising my coffee cup in a toast to survival. So happy her plans have worked out for the remaining year.

JudyE, Jordyn's note is so sweet. Lucky you.

good evening to all.

JUDYE: hope you are over that stomach bug!!!

its been a busy day. I finished up shopping. I ran to Walmart and got some done this morning, but it aggravated my shoulder, so when tom got home this afternoon I had him run me to a couple other of places.

the majority of our wrapping is done...just a couple more to do.
one of them was running over to our vet's. we had a big bag of dog food and a big bag of cat food for the noah's ark foundation. that felt good. dr. k ran out and gave us both a hug.

livvy is spending the weekend at her sisters....

so it is quiet here this weekend. I am up for that.

no plans to speak of. I am missing work. but I know I have to let this shoulder heal. I've seen therapists have to end their career due to shoulder injuries. and although it is feeling some better, there is still quite a lot of pain. the doc supposedly had another script called in to my pharmacy, but nothing as of yet. if this doesn't do it, he will want an MRI. I can concur with that. I need to know exactly what is going on so we can take care of it.

anyway, that's the latest and greatest here.

hope everyone has a great evening!

(((hugs)))

Good Morning Eagle Buds!!!

Temps still hanging in there at about 28 day and night, so will soon be bundling up and taking the adorable sweatered Penny out for her morning constitutional.

Not much planned for the day, but hope Seth will join me this evening a lasagna dinner, Prairie Home Companion and some British TV via PBS.

JUDIE, so glad you're feeling up to outings like the night at Kennedy Center. Jufie must have upset the Sandperson a bit as I was short changed a bit and am up and at em' way too early!! Am requesting an super-sized dose tonight to make up for it, please.

Sandi said...

Goodorming Kay, Judy, and all my eagle friends. Kay it's great to see you as an early bird this AM! My 2 kids woke up at 5:30 this AM - those little toenails clicking on the hardwood floors!!

Judie, Joseph is one of my all time favorites! When Kevin was in 2nd grade, I took him to see a production of The Wizard of Oz at the middle school where Brian was on the tech crew. Kevin announced from his seat that, when he got to middle school, he would be ON the stage. And indeed he was - from 6th grade through 12th grade and then he was a music theatre major at Shenandoah Conservatory. So he was always my date at the theatre since Denny isn't a fan.

My "drama" yesterday was that I was called out of class to give a recorded statement to 2 men from district office who are involved in a "formal investigation" into my BFF. I don't normally wish for bad things to happen to people, but I certainly hope the investigation leads to her being fired. I believe she is mentally ill and should not be allowed to continue harming kids!

Christmas cookie baking for me today. Have agreat day all.

stronghunter said...

Hi Kay,

I like to picture you and the adorable sweatered Penny strolling along the streets of Columbus. I am smiling.

A small victory for me yesterday. Two months ago, I got a diagnosis of diabetes. I was shocked. "Eat less, exercise, and come back in 2 months," he said. I have been working at that. Not so much exercise, as the next thing that happened was that my knee got all messed up. Anyway, I did lose 10 pounds and my blood sugar level dropped below the danger point. The doctor was pleased. But I must be careful.

Janet said...

good morning to all. an amazing thing is happening at the moment...the sun is out! we haven't had sun in over 2 weeks. sure is welcomed! however, more clouds are scheduled to move in later.

tom and I have a plan today. since Olivia is at her sister's til tomorrow, we are going to construct her large gift today. we bought her a day bed. so we (mostly he) will take apart the loft bed and replace it with the day bed. put a big bow on it, maybe.

other than that, not a lot. tom said he has to go out for a bit and shop.

i'm gonna hang here at the house and work on some paintings I think.

hope everyone has a great day!

Sounds like a good plan, Janet.

stronghunter said...

And now a cute little chickadee.

stronghunter said...

And a lady cardinal.

Kay said...

SHIRLEY, turn about is fair play, now you've brought a smile to my face. I love thinking of your family enjoying an ecumenical holiday---what a wonderful experience and example for young Mr. Hunter!

And, I'm so proud of you for taking the doctor seriously and bringing DiabetesII under control without meds. That is a major victory!! I took that same route when diagnosed with it 7 years ago, losing some weight, increasing exercise and being very careful to read labels and change eating habits. It works and becomes very easy--a new normal!

Penny brushed to close to something with nettles on it and now I must pick a bunch of them off her sweater. First time that's happened in the three winters we've spent together. Glad none were attached to her fur.

Kay said...

SANDI, good to hear your BFF is being investigated. Can't imagine why this hasn't happened before, but better late than never. Guess we can credit the new principal for something constructive! Now he needs to take some "sense of humor classes".

stronghunter said...

Thanks for the encouraging words, Kay. I will keep trying. I enjoy sweet things, but I really do not usually crave them that much. Just once in a while.

Yuck! Nettles. Not fun to remove.

It promises to be a quiet evening. Hunter is with his dad tonight. Kathryn has a party to attend. She must create some kind of ugly sweater. She has a pretty sweater she is going to try to transform.

I have plenty to occupy myself this evening. Just need to pick up a few things.

stronghunter said...

Good news about the BFF, Sandi. I hope things work out there.

Lolly said...

Good morning! Yep, still morning here! Need to start moving around. I am so slow in the mornings!

Jack is in wrapping presents. hee hee! So I need to get with some baking. Pumpkin rolls today are on the list. I give them to neighbors. I have laid out my plans for each day until Christmas. Have a lot of cooking to do.

Shirley, glad you got the sugar level under control. Both my brother and sister have to watch it and both take meds. My levels have always been great. They really have weight problems, too and I have been able to control mine. Once I got up where I did not want to be but lost that 40 pounds and have been able to keep it down. They both have knee and back problems, weight does not help there either.

Skippi has decided that bows on packages are her target but not a serious problem, YET!

Gloomy here and all the rain promised us add up to about 3 or 4 tenths! Sigh..... However, the sun is supposed to appear soon and be great all week. Really wish it would be cooler. 47 right now.

Sandi, so happy that teacher is being investigated! Hope she is out of there soon!!! So hard to get rid of bad teachers.

Gotta get busy! Have a great day!

Judie said...

Good afternoon.

Yuck! Yet another gray and overcast and cold day. Is it winter?

Shirley, congratulations. We must compare notes as I, too, have numbers that fluctuate between not-so-good and fine. Diet will be the easiest to tackle. Enjoy the evening of quiet. Please keep us posted on your ecumenical holiday.

Sandi, as I read your comments about the BFF, I could not keep from imagining the grin on your face as you answered questions. Hope the interview was not video-taped. lol I think we all think agree that BFF should not be with children.

Kay, Sandperson sends an apology. Claims Jufie was the culprit. Well....

Not much going on here today. Just some paperwork and emails. Missed our eagles' visit but did catch brunch at the Berry nest.

Sad Times in the Kootenays...

an 87 year old man hit black ice skid towards on coming traffic and head on. The young people in the oncoming vehicle taken to hospital and will survive. The old man died on the scene.

Two young people on snow mobiles got caught in an avalanche and died.

150 families with two working parents in most cases are on the list of people who need help this Christmas...food presents, hampers with Christmas meal makings...

This time of year street people come in from other communities. I bought two meals for two of them today. One of the ones I bought a meal for got in a fight with the police and was taken in...I am so so so sad...
Other communities are worst off than we are and their disadvantaged come here looking for help...

God Bless Us All...

Spent the day volunteering and again tomorrow. I hope we can make it for Christmas eve...Blessed Be.

How can so many of us have so much and so many of us have nothing at all? I am sad.

Glad the knee could be fixed SHIRLEY.
JANET glad there is healing happening.

Went for a walk in the park.
People leave little Christmas ornaments on the trees there with the understanding that if you needed an ornament to help yourself. If you have one to offer well then go ahead.
So sweet. Spent time with cute ducks and tiny little singing birds...the world is full of blessings.

Janet said...

Good evening friends!

SANDI: so glad the investigation has begun! Hopefully there will be a swift resolution.
STRONGHUNTER: congrats are indeed in order! Diabetes is no joke! It took a lot of dedication and work to climb that mountain and change your lifestyle and eating habits!!! Good for you!!! What Tom learned from his nutritionist was to watch the carbohydrate intake….he cut that back to his prescribed limits and dropped forty pounds and got his blood sugar into a much better range!
And, your holiday celebration sounds delightful! I bet it will be wonderful!

HODA: I am saddened to hear of your news ….. I hope things will get better. Blessings to you my friend..

I have had a very busy day. The shoulder has twinged once or twice, but no real pain to speak of! I hope it stays as such.

Tom had to go out and do a bit of shopping today. Better him than me. I have visions of staying home and aside from a quick trip to the grocery to pick up a prescription, some cold meds and butter, I managed to do just that.
Beano and Dax had their monthly baths, nail trim, and teeth brushed. They look so handsome now. Lol.
I cleaned the house a bit….picking up, putting away…you know. Then I decided to take the sheets off of Olivia’s “old” bed and get prepped to put the new bed up. Well most of you know where THAT led to, I went thru that room with a fine tooth comb cleaning, pitching, and straightening. Why do 13 year old girls have to be ….well…. messy??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
We got the new day bed put up, I have clean linens on it an dit isready for her to come home tomorrow. Won’t SHE be surprised?

I wonder if she will miss the bag full of garbage and junk I pitched?

Tom is getting sick again. I think that cold he had has morphed into bronchitis. I think he may be heading to the dr on Monday….I think it was worked well that we opted to stay home this weekend instead of going to Gatlinburg. Part of me misses being wit h my friends as they perform, but I’m mostly perfectly content to be right here….
Tomorrow is Yule. I will celebrate with the family. I have a little something for each of them…and we will have a special dinner of smoked turkey, some fresh sweet potatoes and I am not sure what else. I love Yule because after tomorrow, we gain a little more light each day! Yes, it is only the beginning of winter and many long and cold days ahead, but we are heading towards spring, slowly but certainly.

Well, let me skedaddle. I’ve taken up enough blog space for the moment. Good night and sweet dreams to all!

Judie said...

Hoda, sincere condolences for the loss of life and sadness in your community and in your heart.

Hi Loretta. So glad you have a helper this holiday season. Good to see you here.

Janet, I suspect Olivia is going to be over the moon (and will never even notice the missing stuff). Sorry Tom is sick and hope the doctor has a quick fix.
