THANKS FOR THE NEW THREAD STEVE

I WILL GATHER THE OTHERS TO SHARE THE THREAD WITH

Kay said...

Oh, oh, JUDY and I have bumped heads here. I gladly give the feather to her as it has been a while since she got one.♥

Kay said...

I've noticed that Jufie is sometimes referred to as she and sometimes as he. Apparently Jufie is a master of disguise and so, who knows? Either way IT is capable of high jinks and possibly jinxes that are mind boggling.

Kay said...

JANET, sorry to hear Sable's outlook is bleak, but glad you can keep her comfortable. Can't wait til' the GYN's complete their diagnostic work and find the answer you so desperately need!

JudyEddy said...

Kay we can share custody of the feather LOL

Kay said...

You're sweet, JUDY, but I insist it is yours! Our wonderful videographer deserves this feather and many more. We do so appreciate what you do for us!

Judie said...

Good afternoon.

Thank you Steve for the fresh thread and congratulations on Kay and JudyE sharing of the feather.

Thinking of Jo and hope all goes easily for her today.

Glad Jack is doctoring for his ailments. He needs to stay Armadillo-ready.

Janet, so very sorry about the news of Sable's tests. Enjoy the days she is still being Sable. Vanderbilt is supposed to be an excellent medical group. No doubt you will receive the best care possible.

Now, as for Jufie. Jufie is gender neutral. Is now in a huge funk because he claims he started out for Shirley's place but Luna sat on his feet. Meanwhile, it was Lolly at Janet's. Sandperson is not talking. lol

Okay, got my "do" did. A little shorter than usual. Trying to imitate Kay and her Judy Dench look.

Now to enjoy some coffee and the newspaper.

Thank you for the new thread, Steve. And thanks for the notification Kay and Judy.

So sorry about Sable, Janet. I understand very well how you are feeling. You will keep her comfortable and safe.

stronghunter said...

Lolly was throwing pecans at Janet??? Who is making that accusation?

grannyblt said...

Afternoon al. My house guests are all napping from a busy day shopping at the outlet mall. I am ready to doze off myself but maybe this cup of tea will keep me alert. I did see part of the eclipse this morning. If I had been in my own bed that wouldn't have happened. I sleep in the basement when there are guests and could catch a glimpse of the moon between tree branches.

Better get dinner started. SED to all if I don't get back.

Mema Jo said...

I have returned from my long day - mainly sitting for blood work - consultation with doc - and then the chemo. All went very well except my butt was almost numb. 10:15 we started and got home at 3:30. All for a good cause! I have a Power Port instead of getting stuck all the time; however, they can NOT get blood from it - I am all dried up on that side - lol....... We just take it from the vein in my arm - no problem.

NOW Judie it is ok to mimic Kay with your new 'do' but please don't try to mimic me - I now have the Extreme Pixie Haircut... lol
BTW - I love Judi Dench ! I want to be like her when I grow up.

Mema Jo said...

Thank you Steve for the fresh new thread!

Judy and Kay you were both on the ball with the Call over! Sharing a
feather is what Momsters do best! ♥

Janet - I know you will keep Sable comfy and give lots of love.
Praying for your health!

Shirley I just read that you joined the 'good lookers club' by getting the full hair do treatment.
It will be quite a while before I can do that - I'm saving money (that's one way to look at it).

Mema Jo said...

Thinking about dinner - BBL

Mema Jo said...

Lolly, I want to mention that I like Jack get lots of early morning phone calls confirming dr appointments.
I wish they would respect the retired older patient who does not get up at the crack of dawn anymore.

stronghunter said...

Oh, those reminder calls from the doctor's office. It is nice that they do those reminders.

My dentist even takes calls during off-hours. One of the office ladies seems to take care of those calls from home. You will probably need to leave a message, but she responds quickly.

Getting Hunter off to school means that I do have to get up pretty early these days.

stronghunter said...

I did appreciate the port when I was getting my chemo, Jo.

stronghunter said...

Picked up some hamburgers for dinner tonight. Hunter has football practice, so it will be late. He has snacked on chips and salsa.

JudyEddy said...

Hello HONEYS I am home How was you alls day

Stay well.
Love you all very much.

Hoda said...

OK JUDYE outdoor channel tells me the cam is off till the 2015 season??? How are you seeing the eagles?

JudyEddy said...

Hoda said...

Thank you...
Still cam here I come...
Eagle probably gone by now..
Saw one flying about yesterday when we were testing the water on the lake...

Hoda said...

OK I actually saw the eagle...trim so I thought it was Shep...

JudyEddy said...

Got lots of pic just put in Momster album (26) and was putting on the EM facebook page as I was snipping them

JudyEddy said...

HODA Have you been seeing the pictures that I post daily on Facebook ON the Eagle Momster site?????????????

Hoda said...

Yes JUDYE I go there sometimes. I much enjoy them and feel good when you get a picture of them...I do not go there daily but have seen them. You are awesome...

Lolly said...

Had a successful shopping trip for Joseph's birthday. Also, got my do done! Jo, love your positive attitude with your extreme pixie cut! ((Hugs))

Jack is back feeling like last night only he is now running a fever. We are thinking he has the virus the Fritz family has been suffering. No real symptoms except low fever and just not feeling well. Good chance not going to football tomorrow.

Time to prepare something for dinner.

Lolly said...

Ha! Dinner is over, we had soup! Went to a lot of work tonight.

Sent Hoda a picture of Jacob. He really wanted to be a banana for Halloween. Really really wanted it, so Grandmommy got it. It arrived at his house and they sent me a picture. Too funny! My grandson The Banana!

Lolly said...

Feeling really bad this evening for the man who died of Ebola today. Also, thinking that people are being very dumb, ignorant, careless and just plain STUPID on how they are handling this virus.

Hoda said...

JUDYE now I can not get on the Eagle Momsters FB page... Correct name please?

I love love love JACOB the Banana and his GrandMommy is a delight as she encourages the GK...

Adorable...

Janet said...

good evening to all. you have provided the laughter I so needed to night.

I am SURE it wasn't LOLLY that threw pecans at me. I imagine LOLLY has a dear sweet voice, not an evil, malicious laugh, running down my hall. And as for protection, Beano was snoring under the blankets...no such luck. lol.

LOLLY: as for the Ebola death. I have a dear friend who is a nurse and has sent me several articles regarding this disease. Basically, there is STRONG evidence that this disease IS spread by coughing, sneezing, etc just like any other virus and that the reason we aren't being told that is to avoid panic. However, common sense would dictate that hand washing, avoiding sick persons, etc would go a long way in keeping people safe. But this appears that it will get worse before better....

I will say she is most concerned.

Jo, I hope you are doing okay this evening.

As for Sable, it is what it is. Just one step, one day at a time. I got the SAMe for her and she is also on cipro to calm the secondary infections down.

I have an ultrasound Monday morning @ 8:30 a.m. get 'er done. woo hoo. (not)

the endometrial biopsy is next month.

Vanderbilt is a GREAT medical system. It is a teaching hospital and very cutting edge. They have Reiki in the alternative medicine center!

Going to Vanderbilt itself is a PIA. it is huge, the parking garage is insane, although they do offer valet, but I get lost the few times I've been there.

They have a satellite office over off of I 65 south and that's the office I went to. I am very pleased thus far.

Well, let me congratulate JUDYE and KAY on a feather and callover! And Thanks to Steve for taking care of us yet again.

Gonna cut this short as I've jabbered on enough

Good night ya'll.

Seems as though everyone is having a reasonably nice evening - just hope Jack's fever subsides quickly.

My eyelids are falling down asleep so think I am soon headed to the pillows.

Sandperson is almost packed and ready to leave. Jufie is MIA.

Night light is on. Restful sleep for all.

stronghunter said...

Using my phone and wanted to get the Web version. Glad to know Lolly is not throwing pecans at people. Nor is she cackling evilly. However it seems she has turned her grandson into a banana.

Luna is traumatized from having made the mistake of sitting on Jufie's feet. This evening she (Luna) climbed into my lap and tried to tell me about it.

stronghunter said...

Time for me to sleep. I will lock my bedroom door. SED, everyone.

Goodorming my eagle friends.

Too tired to get on the blog after school and then faculty meeting yesterday, so I didn't check the box. It didn't even occur to me that I had no emails in my inbox all evening. This school year has me slam wore out (as Shar would say) and it's only October.

Janet, so sorry to hear about Sable but it sounds like you are handling the situation well.

Have agreat day all.

Janet said...

good morning;

HODA: I so hope you are right!!! . but it wasn't only one article. one article was very recent. I haven't said much because I really don't know. I am just running status quo and my precautions are, as I said, just regular stuff I do, hand washing, cleansing of surfaces (at work) and such.

I do hope you are right. I just don't have the most trust in our leaders sometimes with regards to our best needs. and I am concerned. not panicked. just concerned. if anyone who has information from the medical community has more info it would be reassuring and welcomed.

well folks, not a lot going on, but I did sleep and am most thankful.

THANK YOU HODA for having the conversation with me. I respect your knowledge and point of view. hugs and love to you !

I hope everyone has a great day.

A quick good morning! Street clothes on and headed out the door in a minute to go to a luncheon.

Jack was better this morn, but then he was better yesterday morning, too. Will see this afternoon how he is feeling and decide whether we are going to the game or not.

Armadillo is taking advantage of Jack not feeling up to hunting, dug me a new lawn last night. Grrrrrrrrrf! I may have to take up hunting! NOT!! I would probably shoot off my foot.

Later Gators!

Good morning all.
Beautiful Autumn Day here.

Thank you JO and JUDYE for adding me to the Eaglet Momster FB page.

Here is what I know about EBOLA.
First reported sicknesses happened in 1976 in Africa. Two incidents in the Sudan and next to the Enola River.
Hence the name Ebola.

Certain species of fruit bats carry it.
If contaminated meat is eaten or fluid consumed humans contract it.

This last out break is infection from human to human.
IT IS NOT AIRBORN.
This paranoia really has to stop. It is not helping the situation any.
JUDYE your morning question is a valid one.
Yes sneeze and snot are fluids.
If an infected person directly sneezes in an open wound, in an open mouth or up another person's nose infection from sneeze and snot can occur.

If a person touches wet snot or sneeze off of the clothing of another person infection can occur ONLY through a skin lesson or through transporting it be hand to nose and eyes.
Same goes for all other body fluids.

EBOLA IS NOT AIRBORN!
One can not get it simply by sitting on a plane with someone who has it!
The above mentioned conditions have to be present for infection to occur.

Washing hands regularly is a good idea.
Awareness of immune system and taking measures to bolster the immune system is a good idea.

I have known about Ebola since the 1970's. It is not new.
The media coverage is irresponsible.
Yes infection now is happening human to human ONLY THROUGH DIRECT CONTACT OF AN INFECTED PERSON'S BODILY FLUID.

African Gov'ts left people to deal with it and did not step up an education campaign. Neither did they give help to deal with sick people and corpses. This is why the death toll is in the thousands...

Very sad and difficult situation.

Yes in a Texas there was a lapse of a few days.
They stepped up and cleaned things amazingly well and they are monitoring nine people, not hundreds, not even fifty, NINE people. No symptoms. Two to twenty one days.
Sorry for going on.
Thought it would be helpful.
GOD BLESS YS EVERYONE...

Hoda said...

Very happy to report that I now have six jars of my winter Season potion. Potent stuff.
I tasted it this morning and gracious me it certainly will evict any bugs that try to establish residence in this old body. I will have to see the doctor next week to remind her I say no to flu shot. Her office phoned again.

THANKSGING WEEKEND coming up in Canada.
I put on snow tires today.
Law says October 1st till March 31st. The City Police and RCMP do not have theirs on either!!!
It is all good.

Hoda said...

Oh I do my autumn cleanse, herbs and diet, from the 15th till the 26th.
Three meals a day and even snacks allowed.
I hope I do not get as sick as I did last time!!!
Cleansing the liver and the adrenals, flushing them out made me sick last time. We'll see what happens this time...my liver is sluggish no doubt...I can feel it...
Wish me well.

OK I jabbered on for a long while. Off I go. Waiting for JO to check in. Hoping JACK is feeling better LOLLY.

Will just called. Got pain meds.

I am home - afterwards trip to CVS
Meds to p/u and needed some cards for this month. I hope Norma has a great day today.

Chemo went well - tomorrow it's a repeat.

Loretta - wish you would come back on here and let us know what the doc
said about that bite mark - I hope he didn't take any chances and has you on some antibiotic.

Hoda - when you go to see you Doc take her a jar of your potion mixture. I do wish you a healthy cleansing month with no liver problems. What will you do special for your Canadian Thanksgiving weekend - it is really the 13th - right?

Mema Jo said...

Shirley - hope Will is ok - glad he got his pain med.. I may have not
read of his problem.

Judy - My ggd always liked the
gymnastics programs that Jordyn is taking. Really helps to co-ordinate

Hi Jo, glad you are home and doing well. I also would be happy to read a good update from Loretta.

Shirley, what happened to Will? Sure sending some positive thoughts his way.

Hoda, as for your Autumn cleanse, please may you not become so sick again. Must be worth it but seems potentially unpleasant. Perhaps Jufie needs to come and keep you company? Would Dudley be jealous? Ah, As The Cleanse Turns.

Wishing Norma a very special day today. May she enjoy every moment.

Pork chop casserole tonight with salad. Foraging is on tomorrow's agenda.

Hi,

Will seems to have pulled a muscle or something. Didn't have time to post an explanation earlier. Have been driving hither and yon.

Will, Hunter, and I made a quick stop for gas and grabbed sandwiches at Wendy's. Hoped the prescription would be ready by the time we did all that, but we have to wait some more. Explained that Will is in a lot of pain. Wish they had given him something while he was at the doctor's. Bad thing is that he has a cold and coughing is tough.

JudyEddy said...

JO Jordyn is all bum (bottom heavy hard to get it up in the air LOL as I am sure you can tell by the pictures and video She is doing better and the amazing thing is that she is always smiling and bouncing around there full of energy and is not discouraged it she doesn't get it right I have issues with them using tall equipment for the shorter kids the big foam flocks that the bend back on hits her differently than the taller kids and doing a cartwheel inbetween two foam blocks until you get the cartwheel down why set up obstacles to go inbetween Hey I am not a instructor so we just sit and watch

stronghunter said...

Hope your autumn cleanse is not unpleasant, Hoda.

JudyEddy said...

signing off for now will Angie should be here in a hour or so Jordyn is dressed and ready and went in to the hot puter room to play on it They need insulation in that room It is the laundry room and not intended to use as a live in room I guess

Good Late Afternoon Eagle Buds!!!

Checking in late. Had Malcolm for his weekly "play date" from 10:30 to 5. A rainy day so I had my work cut out for me with indoor tug o' war and ball chasing.

Need to head for the scullery as JUDIE says, but wanted see what's been happening. I don't see anything I need to chime in on, except to assure you that Will, Jack n' Jo are on the prayer list tonight.

Dinner, news, Jeopardy, Greys' Anatomy and Doc Martin will constitute my evening entertainment. Have a good one all!!

Love and prayers for all!!!

HODA: happy cleansing! I hope it goes very smoothly this year!

JO: how you feeling tonight?

SHIRLEY: hugs and love to you and yours...

JUDYE: I think Jordyn's videos are cute . I am glad she got into gymnastics. I remember being a kid thinking that was cool and doing the parallel bars would have been FUN FUN FUN.
Alas and alak, in little ole Radcliff Kentucky, such was not to be had. I think its great that she is so enthusiastic!!!!

Been a day here. Work was fine. After work, I followed ya'll's lead and got my ears lowered. I've been growing the hair out for several months. My stylist thought I fell off of the face of the earth. Anywho, it is more tame now

Almost time for my eyelids to fall down asleep.

Janet, pork chop casserole is beyond complicated. Pages of directions: brown chops, place in casserole dish, add dry rice and the required amount of water for the amount of rice, add canned tomatoes with juice, salt, pepper, sliced onion. Bake 350º for 45 minutes or so.

Shirley, glad Will is feeling better albeit the benefit of pain killers. No doubt, Stephanie was a big help with pain relief. lol

Lynne may not have friends coming with her but she sure will have a whole bunch of friends waiting for her arrival.

Kay, I seem to recall that this time of year in OH was really beginning to get chilly. Get out your warm pj's and woolen socks and invite Miss Penny to snuggle under the covers with you. Snow may be only around the corner. Yuk!

So, Midsomer Murders was a repeat. Watched First 48. Now headed to the pillows.

Night light is on. Sandperson is packed and ready to depart. Beware: Jufie is unaccounted for and I am taking the Fifth.

Restful sleep for all.

Hoda said...

Well I am back.
Good day.
Snow tires on.
Car is road worthy and even though it is five years old has no issues.

Sluggish liver symptoms, enlarged, bloated feeling is a side effect. Inflammation causes enlarging and causes other organs close by to feel crowded. In some yoga poses it is far more evident than in others.
Adrenals do not like enlarged liver and ankles become swollen slightly...

I expect I will not feel too good around the third or fourth day! JUDIE NO DON'T YOU DARE SEND JUFIE!
It is all I can manage to deal with my own misery when I am sick!!!
JO if my doctor was not such a pharmaceutical supporter I would take her a jar. She is getting better, has not written me a prescription since 2012!!! God she was awful. So quick to write them. Now she listens and tells me what the symptoms might mean and I take it from there. Poor lady would have a fit if I gave her a jar of my condition...LOL

Did LOLLY and Jack go to football?
I have not seen a post that Ajack continued to feel well.

JO love you and am proud of you that Chemo went well. Praying for tomorrow.

SHIRLEY sorry Will was not well. Proud of KATHRYN for doing so well with her job.

Yes JO Thanksgiving is Monday the 13th. Most people celebrate on Sunday.
I will start tomorrow with a bike ride with friends and we will share a meal. Then Saturday I will take my bicycle to another town and ride there and then share a meal. Repeat on Sunday and Monday!!! Lots of sharing of meals so I had better ride for several hours each day. Too much food!

Goodorming my eagle friends. No kids today - just day-long meetings about how to write lesson plans using the new format that the district has bought into (literally).

Great teachers can plan their lessons on a post-it; lesson plan templates only benefit weak/new teachers who need that level of structure, Yet, with the new principal, EVERY teacher MUST have his/her lesson plan written/typed on the new template and hanging in a GREEN (must be green) folder DAILY right next to the door so the principal and vice principal can grab it if/when they walk in for an unannounced observation. Can you imagine???

Prayers for all. have agreat day.

Janet said...

good morning to all!!!! HAPPY RED TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no JUFIE here. slept well last night. thankfully! hate to admit this, but even had a nap at work yesterday. had a 2 hour span with no client and popped a nasty headache.

when we do not have someone on the table, we are not getting paid. as long as the front desk knows your whereabouts, you can pretty much do whatever you want; to include a nap. so I let them know, turned the lights and music waaaay down, fan on, table warmer on and napped for an hour, had lunch and went on my merry way.
headache gone, felt better, and had 3 hours of massage to give. :) Tell ya'll I have a dream job there.

and yes, I clean the room after I nap. its only proper to do so.

good weekend ahead. the massage school that I graduated from is having a grand expansion reopening tomorrow and there are two festivals. it is my plan to do all!

work sunday.

JUDIE: I dunno...pork chop casserole sounds pretty tough. hmmmmmmmm. I might have to try to struggle thru that one sometime.

Anal is tough for a whole school year!!!

Hoda said...

Good morning!
The idiot who shot on RCMP is still at large.
Slocan has three hundred people.
They evacuated most of them.
One cold chap he must be!!!

No reports of his being Anal though!
That might act in his favour!!!

Weekend of gluttony about to start.
Headed to yoga.
Then a four hour bicycle ride.
Then a meal with friends.
Repeat every day till Tuesday!!!

Judie said...

Good morning.

Cheetah cubs are learning to climb the yard tree. Too cute.

Janet, don't forget a little salt and lots of black pepper. lol

Hoda is almost completely winterized. Very sorry about the RCMP who was shot at - hope there was not injury. Stupid is as stupid does and cops love stupid!

Shirley, how is Will today? Hopefully improved.

Sandi, anal retentive, yes. Power play, yes. Let me guess - young and relatively inexperienced? Afraid a teacher mistake might come back to bite his butt. So sorry because micro-managers are a pain in the butt.

Will forage for food today and pickup dry cleaning.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day and Jo an easy treatment.

No injuries JUDIE.
64 RCMP in a village of 300
Choppers and goggles and God knows what else.
I hope they get him alive and get him some help so he would understand such behaviour does not serve him well. From what I understand another winner from somewhere else thinking he could come and be free in the Koots. Freedom here means hard work and responsibility and NOT shooting at the RCMP.

Thinking of JO.
Prayers.

Anyone hear from PAULA lately?
I texted her, no answer.
I miss her and Nick stories.

Good Red Friday morning to all ♥
Thankful to hear of all the good rest everyone seemed to have through the night. I even slept a little later then usual - of course I had 2 early am trips to the loo!
Sure looks like the rain is headed
our way - All the little critters on the deck are chowing down on peanuts and seeds. The squirrels did take a bite out of the pumpkin.
Getting ready to roll into Chemo at noon..... BBL this afternoon.

A quick greeting--good afternoon, as it is now a bit after 12 in these parts.

Will says he is pretty stiff, but I can tell he is better. He was hurting yesterday. It is not fun when you pull a muscle in your back. I've done that.

Need to run out and take care of some errands. Looking for Cornish hens for tonight.

Hope the chemo goes well, Jo.

Hi, Everyone,

Dropping in to say hello. Got a boatload of reports to transcribe, so will be busy as can be for a couple of days.

Jo, prayers continue for you. Hope your chemo treatment goes very well.

Prayers for Sable, and hopes that she remains comfortable.

Prayers for Jack too. Hope he starts feeling much better, very soon!

Prayers for Will. Hope he mends quickly!

Hmmm... the pork chop recipe sounds like it might be worth a try!

Hoda, hope your cleansing goes well! Wow, sounds like you're going to have a busy weekend! Enjoy!

It's nice weather here today. It's hazy with an expected high of 80 degrees.

We had a pair of new birds here this morning. I need to find the time to look them up on the Cornell website. Will let you know if I find them.

Better get going now and get to work on that transcription. Hope everyone is having a good Red Friday! I ♥ us!!

Good afternoon one and all! Another beautiful day here in the south.

Our get well list grows! Seems the men folk are the bruised ones this week. That's ok. Prayer covers all.

Watched a new show this am. "Dead Again". When first advertised, thought it was a fictional drama but it is not. Two detectives re-investigate past crimes to determine if there are any new or missed clues and if the right person has been prosecuted. You don't have the colorful characters as those on the "The First 48" but it was interesting nonetheless.

Judie, you are right about the baby cheetahs! They are in to everything. Do wish they had some enrichment toys to interest them also.

Jo, so happy you are doing well and hope this will all soon be over for you and better health restored.

Shirley, your energy levels are astounding. You are a gift to your family.

Ok. My time is up. Happy to see eagles here and there. Will make the winter months easier to endure!

Please take care and have a wonderful weekend!

Good afternoon! Jack was feeling better yesterday evening so we went to the game and I offered to be the driver home. Took 1 1/2 hours to get home as the interstate came to a complete halt for 30 minutes. We went to the game the back way because of construction and traffic but thought, obviously incorrectly, that going home would be okay.

Have been working in the yard all day. Going to shower now and then we are going to see if we can harvest some pecans.

Sandi, that info on the lesson plans is horrendous!!! Now, I always had to have my lesson plans written out on my desk, but they were brief. Laurel has to do hers on computer and have them available or turned in via computer. Laurel's BIG headache this year is this....Denton has a new grading system. The ONLY grades that count are test grades. Daily work does not count. Therefore, students are not putting big effort on daily or homework since it does not count in on their grades. Therefore, the students are not learning and not doing well on the tests and therefore more students failing. Also, Laurel and the other teachers are having to change a lot of their teaching. It is a BIG headache, a BIG mess. I have never heard Laurel say it but recently she said "I hate teaching!" She has been such a great reading teacher, has loved it and was enjoying trying a new approach based on the Book Whisperer...now this!

Need to go shower!

Lolly said...

I forgot to say Jack thinks he is getting his usual urinary tract infection and is now taking antibiotics. He had a blood test this week before going to see the doctor next week about his prostate cancer but that has been postponed and he will have to have another blood test.

Good afternoon to all ♥
I got home right before 2:00 and so I watched New Tricks. I was grateful that it was not a repeat for me. I think I have seen most of them but with age old memory I can always watch them like they are new - lol
Then I closed my eyes and took a short nap.
Good to hear from all of you... I sure hope Jack feels better...
I need to think about what we are eating for dinner... BBILW

Judie said...

Jo, glad you saw a "new" New Tricks and had a nice nap.

Lolly, do hope Jack begins to have all the health troubles go away. Also, sorry Laurel is having such a bad time with teaching. I won't mention p_c_ns because Jufie might be lurking. How's Skippi's infection?

So interesting. Administrators come up with these plans to help improve student learning but in my experience they seldom actually ask for input from the people who DO the teaching. Duh!

Hi Andy. Hope you get all your transcription completed quickly. Hugs for Emma. How's Kubby?

Foraging is completed. Still raining here. Have decided to regroup for dinner. Found some Asiago garlic foccacia (sp) bread so decided to make pasghetti. Chilly rainy night seems appropriate.

Hi, Suzan. I, too, had the impression of Dead Again as a fiction. Now I will try to catch the next episode. Love First 48.

Soon down to the scullery. BBL

I have let Wanda know that I probably won't be able to join you all next weekend as I had planned. My son is in the hospital again suffering from blood clots. His legs are so swollen and painful that he can't even walk. Please send some prayers up to Dave in Maine Medical Center. This is so depressing and potentially life threatening for him.

Mema Jo said...

Oh Lynne I am so sorry to hear Dave is having complications again. Prayers for his healing for sure. I am very disappointed to not be able to visit with you but I certainly understand. One of these times we

good evening to all. dinner is cooking: chicken thighs in the rotisserie, taters in the oven, green beans will reheat from last night. easy!

work was SLOW today. very unusual. However, I spent much time chatting with my co workers. I don't often have time to do that. it was fun.

quick story. it is very difficult to have two people of the same name in such a work place. when a client calls in and tries to book with "john" for example, if you have 3 people going by the same name.....

so we have a new therapist. her name is Hollie Charlene. We have a Holly and we have a Charlene. so they decided to call her Charlee.

Cool.

Well we're goofing off in the back and decide we ALL need new names.

I am:

(are you ready)

GYPSY MOON DANCER!

ANYWHO...boss walked around calling me Gyp all day.

We all had our flu shots today. :) done!

GRANNYBLT: holding you and loved ones in light and love

LOLLY: hope JACK recovers quickly.

Lots and lots of liquid sunshine today. more tomorrow. wish I could send some to those in need. although we do need it, I would be glad to share. too much at once isn't good either.

Will check in later!!!

Miss Skippita is just dandy! The hair is growing back on her tummy. Her paws are just beautiful, and changing her food did away with the bumps and sores around her neck and face! She is one loving little pussy cat! She sleeps with us and if we stir during the night she is so happy! She starts purring, demanding to be petted, and tries to get away with giving me kitty kisses on my face. I do try to avoid that!

We harvested a few pecans! Not really into the big harvest yet, but it is coming!

Goodorming my eagle friends on this cloudy, wet Saturday morning.

Inservice day was a total waste of my time - so many important topics that the special ed. department could have been working on. Instead every teacher in the building sat through power-points and handouts all morning about the elements of a perfect Learning Focused lesson plan. After lunch every teacher had to design a lesson plan - in my case a lesson that I will never teach (since I'm not the lead teacher in the classroom)- on the principal-required, district-approved lesson plan template and then email it to the principal as proof that we completed it and so he can provide feedback on it.

Average time to create said lesson plan was 1.5 - 2 hours and this is what every classroom teacher is supposed to create for every single lesson s/he teaches. Yeah, right. We get 45 minutes of planning time a day. Sigh!

Hoda, anal personality is right. Judie, young and inexperienced as an administrator is also right. The whole day simply reinforced my decision to no longer be a teacher after this year and to spend my final year making less money as a para. I will be telling my principal as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

Lolly, my district isn't exactly like Laurel's but a change that occurred in grading last year has had a similar effect on the kids. All assignments are now identified as formative or summative. Formatives (classwork, quizzes and homework) only count for 30% of a child's grade and summatives (major assessments/tests)count for 70%. Many kids no longer do homework b/c it's not worth their time to do it when it has so little impact on their overall grade. But then, since they don't do homework, they do worse on summative assessments and their grades are low.

Lynne, I'm so sorry to hear that your son is back in the hospital with more blood clots. He is in my prayers.

Jo, glad the chemo continues to go smoothly for you. Prayers continue for you.

I am spending the day cleaning out all the kitchen cabinets. The cabinet refacing project starts Tuesday.

Have agreat day all.

Rain again here, also. Very happy Lolly and Jack are getting doused.

As for Hoda not knowing up from down, well, she's probably already into a full Canadian Thanksgiving celebration.

Sandi, I second Jo's comments about a wasted day. No doubt your decision to become a para-teacher is the best one for you.

Lynne, will keep Dave in prayers.

Jo, I know your critters were happy you dodged the raindrops for them. (:

We are headed to a memorial service this afternoon. Not much else on the agenda here.

This is the third morning in the past two weeks that we have awakened to find that something or someone has trampled/dug up parts of our newly sodded front lawn. WE ARE NOT AMUSED! Am going to Google inexpensive surveillance cameras. That renovation was not inexpensive.

Okay, thanks for letting me vent.

Off to finish my coffee and look through the newspaper - after I Google.

Yes, Lolly could have changed Jufie's GPS settings BUT the sad truth is that I believe our yard is being targeted. So I think an infra-red camera will be our only way of knowing. Too old to sit outside from dark to dawn.

good evening to all!!!!

its been a cool, rainy, but fun day.

went to the grand re-opening/expansion of the massage school from which I graduated. Maj-Lis had a councilperson speak, and such before an official ribbon cutting ceremony!!!

she had a big do: food, ice cream. I was able to visit with some folks whom I know and check out the new digs. she did it up right. they have 6 massage rooms now....just wonderful! so happy for them!

went to the two festivals. one was outside and kind of sad due to weather. most the the stuff there I see @ the May festival I attend so we didn't spend very much time. I doubt the turn out was good due to weather.

Spirit Fest was awesome. Saw another person whom I know. Bought a tye dye sweat shirt (yeah!) and saw all kinds of cool stuff.

From there decided not to go to Oktoberfest, but went to the book fair on the plaza at the War Memorial. I like big books and I cannot lie! I held back and only bought 3. I could have so spent more, but I try to reign myself in.

Anyway....we had some late lunch while out and now everyone is home and content in the nice warm dry house.

Work tomorrow.

No opinion on blender; other than do get a good one, one made to make smoothies and such. But it doesn't need all the bells and whistles. just a basic, powerful blender to get a good result.

Well I've chattered on. Gonna peruse facebook, then back into a book...

(((hugs))))

Hi, Everyone,

Have been working on transcription all day, and have decided enough is enough! Have just one more report to do, and can finish that up in the morning.

Lynne1, praying for a major improvement for Dave!

Prayers also for everyone else on the prayer list--including furbabies!

Judie, I'm so sorry that some critter is digging up your new sod! Hope you can discover the source pronto, and find some kind of resolution for the problem!

Lolly, hope your armadillo gets a major case of wanderlust, and hits the road! How is Jack feeling? Better, I hope! By the way, our kids (in Providence Village) had a major rainstorm blow through last night. Hope you soon get some more of the wet stuff! So happy to hear how well little Skippi is doing!

Shirley, did you ever get rid of the bees under your porch? Don't remember if you mentioned it.

Someone recently asked how Ken was doing--think it was Judie. He's fine. Done with the dentist until January or so. We're in the process of signing up for PPO dental coverage with Kaiser Permanente Senior Advantage, and then his dentist will be covered.
He just has a couple of tiny cavities to get filled, and when he's done, it will be my turn. Not really looking forward to that, but know I should get checked out. I do like his dentist; she's very gentle, and has a very calming demeanor. I'm really chicken after a couple of nasty experiences in the past, so think she will be good for me.
Oh--got a letter telling me that my mammogram last month was completely normal. That's always good news!

Well, better say goodnight. Emma is hoping for a lap to sit on, and I can't refuse those big, beautiful puppy eyes of hers! (Ken has already gone to bed, so I guess I'm elected.) Have SED, everyone. Goodnight, and God bless! I ♥ us!

Happy birthday, Jo!!! Hope it's a wonderful day for you!

Hoda, the washable diapers I bought for Bella and Jenni came from British Columbia and were able to be shipped to the US. Wonder why the reverse isn't true? Good luck with the blender purchase. Mine is a basic Black & Decker - cost about $50 but it only gets occasional use, not daily.

It rained all day yesterday, off and on. It was a pretty lazy day for me.

I have tennis at 9am (indoor court) this morning and then a block party this afternoon.

Jo, I decided not to clean out the cabinets yesterday b/c I needed to do some baking for today's block party and b/c I hate to look at clutter and I didn't want the dining room table covered with dishes and glasses and pots and pans for any longer than necessary (work on the cabinets starts Tuesday). My plan now is to empty the top cabinets this evening and the bottom ones tomorrow evening after school.

Prayers continue for Lynne's son, David.

Have agreat day all.

Bye bye

SANDI, I think the reason I thought I gave the blenders away is that in smoothies they were not pureeing the vegetables enough. Raw vegetables were still in tiny little pieces but not puréed

Miss Freyja is indeed adorable

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JO!!!! LOVE AND HUGS COMING YOUR WAY!

Good morning!

Hoda, do not use a blender much. I use a food processor a lot. Have a blender, but have no idea what kind. Laurel has one she loves. But, see you have TWO! You are too funny!

Italian Cream Cake with Nutty Cream Cheese Frosting is ready for the dessert auction. Also, taking a bag of pecan halves to be auctioned!

Leaving for church soon and then hurrying to Dallas to see Zacharooski! (And watch the Cowboys!)

Yes, a nurse in Dallas now has Ebola. This is so sad!

See you much later!

Good morning,

Just spent some time reading back.

Lynne, thinking of your son and wishing him well. I hope he is finally able to defeat this problem.

Armadillos in Virginia? I hope not. I have heard that pests are attracted to the lawns with the richest soil. Guess that is what is going on. Will be interesting to see what a night-vision cam picks up, Judie.

Rain yesterday caused the cancellation of Hunter's football game that was supposed to be in Temple Hills, MD.

Bowling practice for me yesterday. Will try to practice more today and tomorrow.

There was a notice about Ebola at the doctor's office where I took Will on Thursday, and the first thing they asked him was whether he had been to Africa. Good that they are being careful. Sad about the nurse in Dallas, Lolly. Prayers and good wishes.

Wow! All of the comments about lesson plans and grading makes me happy to be retired.

In my last year of teaching, an administrator said that I did not have a plan because I didn't place one on the desk where she was sitting within 3 minutes of the time she entered the room. I pointed out that the plan was written on the board, and she finally backed down.

I thought it was interesting that even though I was actively teaching an intro to Macbeth, she could claim I had no plan. It does require planning to do what I was doing. I made a habit of putting my plan on the board for the benefit of the students. I even had plans for previous days on the board for the benefit of those who had been absent.

Not giving credit for daily assignments will definitely create problems. Goodness, what next?

They had begun a big new approach to teaching in those last years I taught that involved putting up a big chart and connecting every unit with the previous one and the next one. It was incredibly complicated and was supposed to be the ultimate solution. I need to ask how it is going now.

Hi everyone!

Checking in for Jo's birthday, and trying to catch up on overdue communication. I haven't even talked to my Mother this week!

I spent all day and night yesterday at the MD house with Kate. I got most of the entire large deck pressure washed and I'm so sore today. Can't wait to be done with moving forever!

Hoda,
I have a stainless steel juicer and I love it. I buoght it when Perry was sick and it's still going strong, though in a box right now from moving.

Shirley,
Glad to hear docs are checking travel history now, at least at Hunter's doctor's office.

Lolly,
The Dallas healthcare worker case is so scary. I read this morning that she was garbed in all the protective clothing and they don't know how she could have contracted the virus.

Janet,
So sorry to hear about Sable. I know she will great great, loving care with you. ♥

Kay,
Are you going to be able to go to the nest next weekend? I would LOVE to see you! Just praying you can make it this time.

Once again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JO!

On way to Dallas ! Dessert auction brought in $1455.00. And, it was so much fun! My cake brought in $70 and the qt bag of pecans. $5. Then in Dec we have fun giving it away. :)

Lolly said...

Whoops! Pecans brought in $50. Typing on iPhone!

Sounds like a very successful auction, Lolly.

It was Will I took to the doctor, Lori. He was having back problems. He's better now, but stiff.

Good late afternoon to everyone.

♪♫ Happy Birthday to Jo ♪♫ Hope the day was extra extra special for you and shared with the Family Lennox.

Hoda, Sandperson is very concerned. Has asked me what to do if you move and forget you moved. Told him to follow the sound of a blender making smoothies and the aroma of brownies. lol

Shirley, glad Will is better. Hmmmmm, Temple Hills, MD is a bit of a drive. Seems local games should be at local fields.

Hello to Lori. Hoping the house chores become easier and fewer very soon.

Sandi, good luck with the cabinet refinishing. Ours are in desperate need. On the wish list.

Congratulations on the auction, Lolly. Cake sounds delicious.

Hi Suzan. Hope all is doing well with you.

Have been on my feet most of today. Going to put them up for a few before heading to the scullery.
