GM all. Isn't this amazing? I was busy trying to get a picture of both of them that I missed Shep leaving the nest. I would be exaggerating to say we got a bare dusting of snow here.
Yes, heavier as the day goes. Much heavier now than it was when I got up at 5:00. Still just a little over 3 inches on my deck. Supposed to be 9 by noon today, and cold be up to 20 by tomorrow morning along the Interstae 81 corridor.
It is snowing hard here. Lots on the ground. I just went out and filled the feeders. Out of suet, but I have plenty of seeds and some corn for the squirrels.
Figured Hunter might like some breakfast, but he said that he is not hungry and that neither I nor his mom appreciate how old he is. I do not know what the connection is, but okay. he is 12. Just checked on the Sycamore Palace, and sorry to say it looks like a Belle sundae there. She just did an egg roll and settled back down. I feel so sorry for our eagles when it snows! Find it truly amazing what good parents they are! Saying prayers of protection for our eagle family.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHAR!!! Hope you have a fantastic day today!
Ken took me with him yesterday when he went to get his pacemaker checked out, and I got my neck x-rayed while he was doing his thing. (They're going to get him set up so that they can check his pacemaker from home, over the phone. It's working perfectly, by the way. Thank God!) I was hurting badly by the time we got home, since they had me put my neck in positions it didn't want to go in. I figured that would happen. I'm sure it will be worth the discomfort in the end. I really had to just sit totally still with the heating pad on, set on the "near burn" setting. I finally got comfortable enough that I fell asleep, and it was much better this morning. Never got through to the physical therapy department yesterday, so in a few minutes I will have to start calling them again. I hope I can get in for an appt. before too long. I know the first few sessions will probably be pure torture, but want to hang in there. Sure don't want this problem to EVER happen again!
Have a few more bills to pay online, so guess I'd better do that now. Hoping that everyone stays safe in the nasty weather, and that you all have a wonderful day! I'll be back later to check back in. I LOVE us!
♪♫ HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHARON ♪♫ Hope the day is wondrous and special for you.
Dana, so glad your dad is home and hope he continues to improve every day.
Shirley, you can scratch one chore off your list. Hunter must now prepare his own breakfast. This will show how much you appreciate how old he is.
Of course, missed the double duty but can only be in awe of how nature programs her animals to survive.
Heavy snow here at this time. GDub closed - extremely rare event. Students have a mid-term scheduled tomorrow but have a contingency plan should I not be able to escape the neighborhood in the morning.
We have around 8" of snow and it seem to be slowing down to a stop. I have posted a few photos on my blog, SMILES. We do have a lite flow of traffic and our neighor plowed out our driveway...so we are good to go here.
They go through snow on the nest every year, we know Belle and Shep will do everything they can to protect those eggs! Did you see just how much fluff they had accumulated around the eggs? I think it's more this year than ever before!
Good morning! I was afraid to open the cam, but relieved to not see snow piled on her back. Need to go see the pictures of the double eagle mantling. Saw that BW looked great, but also feared the cam was down and showing an old picture, but I think not.
WANDA, sure wish you did not have the 8" of snow but it certainly is pretty.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHARON!!! WISHING YOU A LOVELY DAY AND A DAY WITH NO DISCOMFORT!!!!
Oh Andy - how I wish I could pray away your aches and pains ♥
I think it is time to warm up the soup! Michael is out doing some shoveling and it is still so windy - not so much snow still coming down.
I an anxiously awaiting the switch at the nest. I think Belle's tail end is very cold. They sure are doing a great job keeping those eggs dry and warm. BWE seems to only have rain.
Along with it being Sharon's special day today it is also the 4th birthday of my ggs Donavon. His mom said he really didn't ask for a blizzard! So I guess it was Sharon's wish! lol Love ya!
Hope all of you that have a 'snow day' are enjoying the day! Without obligations to go out - it is a beautiful snow. Our road having been treated are melting and somewhat bare.
Hunter just came calling to me that the front door is open and Luna is missing. We went out searching and found a trail of dog tracks in the snow. We went on a winding trip through neighbors' yards until Hunter spotted Luna.
Will is the last one to have gone out that door, and he knows it is hard to shut. It has happened to me, too. I am going to have to do something about it. Maybe a storm door would be the best thing. Or maybe a new latch for the door. Or maybe both. Maybe a new door . . .
We have had problems with that door off and on since we moved here and the door was brand new. Sassafras used to escape back then.
Don't like the idea of having the door open all night. I check it or remind Will or Kathryn to check it every night, but still.
I think we might have some tree branches breaking off in the back. They are snow-covered and leaning and the wind is blowing. Hope they do not damage anything. Especially my fence.
So looking back Belle started this calling over two hours ago.
It must have stopped for a while because I have had the cam on, but minimized for about an hour. It was the sound that I heard that alerted me. I didn't even know I had the sound on.
She must have stopped for a while in between, but she is pretty persistent right now...

Happy Happy 4th to Donovan. Wishing him a truly special day.
Snow has blown off all of our trees here. Someone has said it's not over, but I find that hard to believe.
Back from the ink run. Bought myself some pretty flowers. Need to order up the plan from Megan. Next paycheck I think I will sign up. Love having fresh flowers in the house especially in a snowstorm! :)
Will just called, very frustrated. He said that had a horrible time getting to work through white-out conditions and by a six-car pile-up. He plans to stay in a hotel, and has found out that the employer will not reimburse him.
The hotel will cost more than he will make for today, but he does have to work again tomorrow. Don't know if he will break even by then.
It is about 40 miles from home, I think. And sometimes he has to travel that far or further in the other direction. He does not always work in the same location.
Scary weather Day! Nest doesn't look too bad~~~hope things stay that way and storm gets out of town. We've had snow, then rain this AM, then windblown snow! Not very deep on the ground. Park & Rec closed!!Yippee!!!!!!I have lots of work to do around here but don't feel like it! Duh.Wanted to freshen sheets last night on downstairs bedroom, BUT, Mr. Fixit treated the laundry tubs w/a noxious, rubbery smelling coating to seal some cracks he thought were leaking! So, no one should have been down there & couldn't use washer.Double Duh! I might be bad and dwnld camera. Yesterday at Park, folks had been wondering if we'd see anymore ospreys. Seems they've been coming and going. At one point I heard an osprey squealing and saw a juvie eagle chasing it! So both were there! Gotta grab lunch~~Later
I have had my feet up for a while So thankful to see Shep on the eggs I was beginning to worry about Belle being able to take a break - Really windy at the Sycamore Palace.
Just ate some yogurt = that has become one of my comfort foods.....
Everything outside here in the valley is very still - the deck is clear (wet) and the roads look bare. Well, tomorrow is Thursday and the week goes on.
Hi all. School closed an hour early - meeting with the parent from hell has been postponed.
Now dealing with the weather from hell. We have had ALL rain and TONS of it even thunder and lightning! The wind is HOWLING!! I really expect that we'll have downed trees! Dennis and one of his guys are starting to move things from the ground floor up onto workbenches, up to the first floor, and into Denny's van (which he will then move to higher ground). We are preparing as if the water will come into the house again. =(
We have 2 high tides to get through - one at about 7pm this evening and another tomorrow morning before we are out of the woods as far as flooding.
May be very busy this evening and won't be on the blog. Also don't know how long we'll have power or internet. If the power goes out, I'll text Jo so she can let everyone know how we're doing.
I'm really relieved to see Shep sitting on those eggs with very little snow in the nest around him. It's cold and windy but eagles are prepared for that.
Chiming in to wish SHAR and little Donavon the happiest of birthdays !
Reporting 7-8" of very heavy, wet snow here in Columbus. K-12 schools canceled, but college life goes on. The temp has been in the high 30's since early morning so big blobs of snow are raining down from the trees and many limbs have fallen, too. Happy to have the eave sheltered border around the building for Penny outings.
Hurray for Belle and Shep ! They don't let any kind of weather stand in the way of duty ! Remember how Belle used to holler for Liberty that same way---she's very insistent and rather impatient when she wants some help, I think.
DANA, relieved to know your Dad is home and doing well !
I just realized that the reason I dont' feel better is MY PILLS expired 9-2012 that I have been taking no wonder my sinus aren't feeling so good So now I need to get my arsh to the store to buy some that aren't expired LOL
Yeah, JudyE, I wouldn't think that is your problem. It just might be that what you are taking isn't working on what you have...
I'm home from work. I can get through my day almost twice as fast when the boss isn't there. That was the case today. Thankful for that.
I, too have been suffering with a nasty cold. Started as a head cold and now along with sneezing constantly, blowing my nose every few minutes, I can hardly swallow, my ears are killing me and then there is that cough, too! Ugh!!
Good afternoon. This storm sure has been strange, as predicted. 30 miles south of here got over 3 inches of snow and we barely saw a flake. And the nest looked awful at 7 am, and now a lot of the snow is gone. The Blackwater parents do look awful, as Linda said. I get cold just looking at their soaked selves. Hope all of you fare well as the storm passes you by.
Looks like the nest made it through the storm in good shape. I was wondering how things would work out. Checked at work today and could see snow around the nest but not near the eggs. I guess they keep moving to keep the snow away from the eggs. Just heard some noise but don't see anything. Happy Birthday to Sharon. Have a good day. I'll check back in tomorrow morning some time. Take care all.
EVERYTHING except the walls and insulation on the ground floor has been moved up onto workbenches or carried upstairs, including the interior doors to the closets. Still hoping all water stays outside. Water level in the canal out front is OK for now - high tide around 7pm. Lost power for about an hour. Got the sump pump and refrigerator hooked up to the generator. Power just came back on.
I won't be surprised if we lose power again - the wind seems worse right now than during the hurricane in October - maybe I've just blocked that out.
A very fat and very wet bluebird just landed in the dogwood tree outside my sunroom window. I think that may be the first one I've ever seen on our property! Sure hope he's the bluebird of happiness letting me know that all will be fine! =)

after dropping olivia @ school, stopped at the wally world for a couple items and guess what...snow boots and gloves on SALE ....grandkids and olivia all have new snowboots (not that we NEED them, really) and lots of gloves!!!! the snowboots can be used for mucking around in the tennesee mud and muck as well on cold winter days.
tom and i had breakfast out, then we came home and went thru papers, sorting, filing and shredding. loved it!
we have a guy coming @ 6 to give us estimates on replacing 6 windows in the house. *sigh* almost as bad as going thru a car sales pitch. at least i can pitch him out of my house if i need to do so.!
back to work tomorrow! so excited i can barely stand it! i already talked with the boss and told her of 2 clients i do not want to see as they are immune suppressed.....and want to see the schedule to see who is on it...anyone who may be uncomfortable with my cough. in theory, after (tomorrow will be day 10) this amount of time, would THINK i would not be contagious, but i am not a doctor, so will let each make his/her own decision. either way is fine with me. i'm just excited to get back to work!!!!!! ;D
its been a chilly day here. no snow. mostly cloudy...chilly tomorrow again....but 70's this weekend. woo whoo. maybe i can put more of my rock out in the flowerbed.....and i never did grocery shop.....have to do that....
can you tell... i'm baaaaccccckkkkk.....................
wow, I have been home since 1:15. Not ONCE since I've been home has the running and stomping around upstairs stopped, not even for a minute. STOMP STOMP STOMP RUN RUN RUN STOMP RUN FALL CRASH YELL YELL SWEAR STOMP RUN CRASH YELL YELL.
Steve almost called 911 on them today. He said the guy was screaming and calling his wife for his daughter, not sure which, a slut and every name in the book and things were crashing and the female was screaming and crying. I told him next time to just do it, call 911. He isn't in any shape to go upstairs and check it out himself.
I actually had to call the landlady last nigh because there was water pouring down one of the walls near the bathroom. I apologized for bothering her and told her that I was just going to go up and see if their tub overflowed or something, but that I was a bit wary of the man because he was very unfriendly and strange. She told me that they are working on a plan to get them out and to please not give up on living here. They have had all manner of problems with these people and want them to go.

Gotta grab lunch~~Later
is there something on the lens or in veiw at NCTC -
looks like a woolly caterpillar on the still cam

I have had my feet up for a while
So thankful to see Shep on the eggs
I was beginning to worry about Belle being able to take a break - Really windy at the Sycamore Palace.
Later all - wish me luck!!
See ya' there Jo..
yogurt, a mainstay for me, been buying
the plain then add what I want
which is usually bananas
but this morning it was
strawberries
Not tooo terribly busy here at work, we got a "bye" on this storm

JudyE if you left work sick,
hope you can better soon...
going into your days off now
xo
Good Afternoon Eagle Buds !
Great snow pics, WANDA !
Okay, all, keep those tootsies warm and dry ?
Prayers for all in need ! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Sandi
I'll be keeping and Dennis
and everyone there in thoughts and prayers....hope it won't be so terribly bad
Be careful.....
Judy the idoit here
I just realized that the reason I dont' feel better is MY PILLS expired 9-2012 that I have been taking no wonder my sinus aren't feeling so good So now I need to get my arsh to the store to buy some that aren't expired LOL
going to sign off here
and pay due attention to the other
computer screens....
See You'uns from home later on
Hi Kay
and Hi to all Before and After me..
xo
I think we are in the snow bull's eye. It is snowing and snowing here. Planning vegetable beef soup for tonight.
Judy, I am thinking that the expired pills aren't a big problem, but who knows? Guess you will find out.
SANDI - Looks like you went from the frying pan to the fire!!
Soooooo hoping things stay dry at your roost. That is awful that you have had this threat of water so many times in recent months! Enough already!
Glad you are home, though!
Boy, I think things look worse at Blackwater than in Shepherdstown. You can't shake off WET like you can shake off snow!
That poor parent looks wet to the bones. Poor thing.
Looking better at the Sycamore Palace, though. Very thankful for that.
Hoping we have no casualities from either nest from this storm.
Ugh!!
I think I am going back to bed!
Keep a close watch on our Royal Pair....
38 degrees in Shepherdstown.
THE CHILDREN ARE ALL ALONE
Egg well uncovered
I sure hope a switch is happening
Eagle fly out
AND NOW EGGS ARE BEING TENDED TO TUCK ROLL
MISS BELLE IS DOING HER CUTE WIGGLE WIGGLE AND DOWN SHE IS
I THINK I WILL GO TAKE A NAP
WOW egg roll now
Eagle back egg roll and wiggle wiggle
Bring up the fluff
Our Belle knows the ropes so well
BELLE CALLING OUT
Belle calling.
Crock for dinner for tonight
What a day - sleep - eat - nap - eat - watching the snow melt!
All our worries weren't worth it
Our Royal Couple is the best!
Hoda you really made Sharon's special day more special with your phone call.
BBL
Oh, wow, so happy to see the nest so free of snow. Whopeeee!
Did anyone get a picture of the double eagle mantling this morning?
Looks like the nest made it through the storm in good shape. I was wondering how things would work out. Checked at work today and could see snow around the nest but not near the eggs. I guess they keep moving to keep the snow away from the eggs. Just heard some noise but don't see anything. Happy Birthday to Sharon. Have a good day. I'll check back in tomorrow morning some time. Take care all.
NEAT SOUNDING BIRD AT THE NEST
BELLE CALLING OUT AGAIN
:-)
ODD IT is raining at the nest RIGHT
but she doens't look wet!
SHE IS UP FOR A EGG ROLL
SHE IS UP FOR A EGG ROLL
SHE IS MAKING PEEPING NOISES
She is so very meticulous with her treasures. I think she makes sure that only the driest fluff is close to the eggs.
she is back on eggberts Hey it now over 30 Days
Sharon, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you are treated very special today.
And Donovan, Happy Birthday to you too.
Our nest is looking pretty good. These storms really add to the gray hair on my head. Rain and serious wind here in NC. Haven't seen one snowflake.
Please be careful out there.
Later!
It IS the Bluebird of Happiness Sandi!
I wanna see the bluebird of happiness!!
Glad you got everything up, better to be safe than sorry!
It is so quiet at the nest now I had to make sure it had not stopped. Saw Belle move.
shep is in the house with more flugg
Glad you are inland Suz...another momster, Candy, is on the outer banks and she just posted some flooding pics.
We have maybe 5 inches of packed, wet snow, most of which is melting from trees, fences, cars, etc.
AWW SHEP IN WITH FLUGG!
I love how they sort of talk small peeps so sweet Belle took the flugg and is pulling it around and Shep is on the other end
Shep just brought a big wad of flugg. Such a good daddy!
Shep just arrived with nice dry grass - what a great guy! Belle is tucking it around her and the eggs.
BELLE POOF
Belle poofed
Shep egg roll and setting now
SHEP is down on eggberts
I like those small peeps, too. Belle is about to poof and Shep will take over. Poof!
wind is picking up at the nest again I hear
A little wiggle wiggle and rearrange the flugg.
anyway, our main roads were clear, and it seemed that it was just too warm for the snow to stick to them. Not a bad thing, really.
another small sink hole opened up in E Tampa only big enough to where a man legg went it in I have had enough of this already
right now, just light mist and light snow. And major SLOP everywhere!
Geez, really....enough with the sink holes.
I thought I saw something run under the nest did anyone else see it on the left
Hi Lynne! So very thankful that this has not turned out to be much. It was a little scary!!
SHEP IS UP PICKING AND CUP AND NOW DONW
No, did not see anything, Judy.
Ok Shep you da man. You have earned the title of EXCELLENT PAPA.
THIS IS GONNA BE ON OUR NEWS TONIGHT A VIEW FROM INSIDE ONE OF THE SINK HOLES
more info on sinkholes a inside view this is the sink hole that ususally doesn't occur there are two kinds this is not the norm of sinkholes
Good afternoon all!
The nest isnt' looking too badly....most of the snow from this morning seems to be gone...
LINDA: feel better!
SANDI: thinking of you and that weather
SHIRLEY: way to go....great tracking skills!
JUDYE: you KNOW DAD used to say that florida was going to sink someday with all those people heading down there..... a funny for a not so funny situation.....
SHARON: happy birthday
well, more of my self today! still coughing....but energy is returning.
after dropping olivia @ school, stopped at the wally world for a couple items and guess what...snow boots and gloves on SALE ....grandkids and olivia all have new snowboots (not that we NEED them, really) and lots of gloves!!!! the snowboots can be used for mucking around in the tennesee mud and muck as well on cold winter days.
tom and i had breakfast out, then we came home and went thru papers, sorting, filing and shredding. loved it!
we have a guy coming @ 6 to give us estimates on replacing 6 windows in the house.
YAY for SHEP bringing in all the flugg....the nest almost looks normal again! My heart cheers for the Royal Pair!
wow, I have been home since 1:15. Not ONCE since I've been home has the running and stomping around upstairs stopped, not even for a minute. STOMP STOMP STOMP RUN RUN RUN STOMP RUN FALL CRASH YELL YELL SWEAR STOMP RUN CRASH YELL YELL.
are you complaining that they aren't making noises LYNNE2 LOL
Steve almost called 911 on them today. He said the guy was screaming and calling his wife for his daughter, not sure which, a slut and every name in the book and things were crashing and the female was screaming and crying. I told him next time to just do it, call 911. He isn't in any shape to go upstairs and check it out himself.
Very concerned for SANDI'S safety/ No more floods please!
Stay safe every one. Thank you for the reports on the nest. They did a stellar job protecting those eggs.
JUDYE get some rest. It is not like you to go home sick. I hope it goes away soon.
Thank you JO.
Snowing here too. Back to boots. Mostly in the mountains and wet snow in town.
No LYNNE going upstairs to check on things is not a good idea. Stay out of it...
wow in Israel there is a locust invasion not of biblical proportion
and they eat them over there yuk
LynneInvite the landlord over for a cup of coffee NOW!!!
Wow! The nest looks pretty good!!See Shep is still there.
