Good lord - 257 comments!!??? I figured that with so many of us in S'town for the day and evening, I wouldn't have that much to read!! What a full day!! The morning was fabulous - brought tears to my eyes to see that nest and those eagles in person!! Found P.I.G.S and visited and fed posey and Sir Bryan and took some pics to send to Brian and Lynnis - thanks Wanda, for the directions. Then made it to the bridal shower just a little late and the rain didn't hit til about 7pm! Gotta read back, but I just want to say that it is amazing to me the "family" that has been created by two eagles and their offspring!! Even Denny said he had a great time when he really didn't expect to - he said he has never met a nicer group of folks! And he was constantly surprised by how much we all know about one another's lives without having ever met!

Sandi said...

Oops, forgot to check the box!

Hoda said...

Great pictures LYNNE. Thanks. SHaRON and PAULA thank you for your dinner messages. I tried to phone at the Tavern for supper. It was LOLLY'S idea. We could not find PAULA's cell phone number so I thought if I phoned there they could bring a cordless phone to you. It turned out they did not have a cordless phone and you were not there...so I wondered where you were for supper and sent you good wishes. Do you see why it was so great to read your posts...?

Very good yoga class.

It was wonderful to be a part of it all through you wonderful people...

Welcome home PAULA. Thanks for your posts when you were with everyone. I hope the others check in to so we would know everyone returend safe and sound to their roosts.

paula eagleholic said...

I am LOL at Sandi's comment...Denny has no clue what we discuss on here!

Michael got the sump pump fixed....I got a call at dinner that is was leaking, turns out we figured out over the phone that a connection just needed to be tightened up, so all is well!

Hey Lynne, I just put a special picture on FB for you!!! ☺☺

NatureNut said...

Good Evening Eagle Buds. Guess I have to jump over the Split to find out what else has been going on tonight!
Missed seeing Suzanne and Margy today, and not quite as many were at dinner. But you were all with us in spirit and it was a wonderful get together with fine friends.
We had very light rain on the ride home & I won't know until tomorrow if we got any here at home. Streets looked dry.
Gotta get some coffee~~BBS ☺

Lynne2 said...

Paula....ROFLMBO!!!! I commented!

paula eagleholic said...

LYnne! LOL!!

Lowreeda, yes it was a smaller turnout for dinner this year, certainly missed quite a few folks, we were thinking about all of you!

paula eagleholic said...

Lynne, I knew they were calling for S*** in Western MD, but didn't know it was that much!

Sandi said...

Love, love , love everyone's pics from today that they posted! But as good as they are, they don't come close to conveying how wonderful the morning was!!! Like Bev said, it was like a spiritual thing, seeing that nest in person after 4 years of watching it online, and then seeing Belle and Shep fly in and out and soar above the trees - beautiful doesn't even come close!!!!

Won't have any time to post tomorrow morning b/c we will be up and out early to look at the condos my mom saw with my sister on Thurs., then we have to drive home. Will check in when we get back to Bethany! Try not to explode this thread, will ya??? And, if you do and if Steve gives us a fresh one, and if Sharon sees this post, could ya please log on for me and check the box so I can get the blog posts on the new thread sent to my inbox? That way I can save them on my ancient cell! One more month and I'll be eligible for an upgrade!! Goodnight all - it was incredible to meet many of you last night and today. To those I didn't meet this year, start planning for next spring's trip!! I'll be there!!

Lynne2 said...

Great to meet you and Dennis, Sandi! Please be safe tomorrow on the way back to the shore...LOTS and LOTS of rain over there is predicted.

paula eagleholic said...

Sandi, I am so glad Denny had a good time! Glad you found and could visit the PIG Sanctuary!

Hoda, that is so cool ya'll could hear us! Will check out Judy's video!

Thanks everyone for holding down the fort while we were at the nest!

Kay, the eagles are not bothered by people on the road next to the nest where we were.

The visit lasted until 1 or so...Belle flew back in and was sitting above the nest preening. Lori got some pretty good shots.

Going to go check out the pics and videos.

paula eagleholic said...

Oh, and quite a few people joined us in watching the eagles when the Race for the Birds was over!

paula eagleholic said...

Oh, I see DanaMO got some great pics, too!

Lynne2 said...

Can't wait to see Lori's pictures!

magpie said...

Wow +++
The pictures - Lynne2 and DanaMo so far, and all the narratives through the day and evening....
made it as close to being there as being there...
Thank you so much to so many for all that....
Very happy that the day was so joyful for so many !!

paula eagleholic said...

Reading back through the days thread....

We were able to see the chicks quite well when they stood up...hard to see them when they were laying down.

We watched Belle feeding the chicks. Our NCTC contact, Chelsea, brought a scope and you could see the nest really well. She was a very nice young lady, she joined us after she finished running the race!

Judy, the only way to see the live cam would be in one of the buildings...

paula eagleholic said...

Margy, missed you at dinner ♥

NatureNut said...

Had some nice warm coffee, but it won't keep me awake!
We took pics while on our Shep'town field trip this afternoon and I guess they should go on my blog.? I know our albums are for Momster lunch, dinner, etc.
They will probably be the last ones I get to for editing anyway.

There may be some konking out going on, so Pleasant Feather Dreams and Prayers for good health--esp. Lynn and Tori ☺ ♥

Lynne2 said...

Did LYNN get some BERGER COOKIES??? I hope somebody got some!

magpie said...

I truly missed being there, Paula, and was thinking of all the Momstering and Dadstering and Kidstering going on.....
I had a late call to help with my "other family" - nieces and nephews...tough to have two truly important things happening at the same time...but I needed to be with them tonight ♥
(and maybe Sunday and Monday also
before they all start heading to their respective homes)

magpie said...

Will be happy to see more Momsters checking back in was they return to their roosts...

be back later to check on that...

Good Sunday Morning to All :)

I had a great time at the Friday night dinner. It was so much fun getting to meet DanaMo again and the now her hubby. Plus the rest of the new people.

It was a wonderful, wonderful time Saturday at the nest visit. I understand some of you heard us scream when the eagle flew into the nest.

The Saturday night dinner was so much fun. I had the pleasure of sitting at the table with Robyn, Tori, Justin (Tori's cousin), Bobbie and her hubby, Michael (Jo's son) and Susan. The whole room was a room of love, joy and laughter.

"Those of You" that couldn't come were missed.

wvgal_dana said...

@CarolAnne

The receipe book is "Beautiful". So great to have. A joy to be able to have a copy. Thank you for making it for us all. ♥

wvgal_dana said...

I heard from someone that some of you watching the cam. Heard us scream Saturday when the eagle flew into the nest. Oh it was so beautiful. Later Shep and Belle both soared up in the sky. Just circling with each other over us. Like the knew the Momsters and Dadsters where their for them. (:

Lori O. said...

I'm home! Jumping over the 200!

Lori O. said...

CarolAnne, your recipe book is great! Thanks so much for all your hard work in making it so special!

I think you made the eagle clock, too...that was very nice. You are so creative! Or maybe you bought it, but know you, you made it!

Lori O. said...

Everything was wonderful (except not having WIFI!) so I'm just so happy to be back on the blog and be able to, yes, play Words with Friends again!!! Get ready you guys!

I can't wait to load my pictures of the eagles today. I didn't take many people pics, mostly eagles. I couldn't turn my camera away from them! Hope I got some good shots.

CarolAnne said...

Lori,
Glad everyone liked the recipe booklets.

And yes I did make the eagle clock. I have made many clock versions over time - people, places, pets, nature, landscapes.

Trying to be creative is my "stay sane" outlet!! :o)

Looking forward to everyone's pics.

wvgal_dana said...

I see we had Shep in the nest that just flew and and now Belle flew in. She is taking the fish to feeding Missy and Bro.

Morning Lori :)

wvgal_dana said...

Shep is back and Belle is still in the nest.

wvgal_dana said...

CarolAnne did you take a class on how to make the clocks? Is it just something you picked up on doing yourself?

Shep and Belle poofed.

wvgal_dana said...

Shep just brought in some greenery and poofed.

CarolAnne said...

WVDana - Originally I made a man's pocket watch in a wooden disk and then discovered how to make them this way.

wvgal_dana said...

Our sweet Lynn has the same gracious personality that she has always had. It was so good to be her a light hug and we did our kisses on the cheeks. ♥

CarolAnne I hope sometime you can get a chance to read the comment about the clocks. I would love to know.

Sandi said...

Morning Lori, WVDana, and CarolAnne!! Just popping in for a minute on Mom's computer.

Carolanne, I love the recipe booklet, though I don't know how many I will actually try. Nothing with kale in it and nothing with tofu for sure!! =) But some sound delish and I especially liked the walking tacos idea - I can see that as a fun dinner when my sister's kids come to the beach!!

DanaMo, I LOVE the buttons!!!

I have checked out some of the pics folks have posted (haven't looked at Wanda's yet) and am very anxious to see Lori's, and of course Denny's when we get home and he gets them cropped! It was a fabulous day!!!

Sounds like we're going to have a wet day of condo shopping and a rainy trip back to the beach - will check in this evening!

Have a good day, my eagle friends!!

wvgal_dana said...

Just checking in this morning. I saw the pictures from DanaMo and Lynne2. Thanks. I can see I missed a good time but the pictures make you feel like I was there. I have seen the nest and the eagles from the road but only briefly. Would have really liked to see them in flight. Looks they put on a great show for everyone. Working six days next week and filling in for my boss. Really stresses me...which I don't like much but I'll try and get through the week. My Mom and Step-Dad are coming from Delaware Sunday and that should help me get through the week too. Thanks again and sorry I missed everyone. I see the little ones are not so little. I guess they will be trying to fly soon. Take care all.

There is much to be appreciated with the bonds that have formed. Tori, of course, was a truly special addition.

You know i have the video on youtube well I got a comment from someone saying this

I think that people do not belong under a eagles nest cheering

my reply TO IT

The are really not under the nest the nest is on goverment property and they are on the road near it And in Fl we have nest in cell phone towers in parking lots of strip stores and in busy parks and one in a Ford car lot ----so they are use to people so to speak,
also there is a day care at the nest area also since it is on campus so the eagle are use to noises During the day you can hear the kids also on the cam

AND THEN THEY REPLIED WITH THIS

Sorry I think you are wrong Look what happened at Richmond.

NOW I WANT TO REPLY WITH
IF YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING NICE
DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL

Good morning everyone. I am late. Been cooking up a storm in the kitchen. It's different these days. No organization but I got it done. Sounds like yesterday was indeed a great day for all. Off to open the nest. A brief read tells me it could still be raining there awww. I know you need the rain but gosh those babies are getting big for Mom to try to cover up.

Simplest response JudyE, might none...some people do not understand, or do not have the years of watching that many of us do...
or that
the Eaglet Momsters and Dadsters are seasoned veterans and with NCTC's help, we are doing well for All Things Eagle...

Might BE none that is...

Good rainy afternoon. So good to read all the comments. What a wonderful evening, but I sure was done in and I think Tori was, too. But what a miracle to have her with us and she is absolutely beautiful.
Thanks to everyone for all their hard work pulling things together; it was just fantstic. Carolyn was so happy to meet everyone and really ennjoyed herself, too. Please excuse typos......fingers are slow as I am today.

I slept for 10 hrs! And I've bathed and thinking about a nap!

Sure missed all not with us, but the wonderful pics taken by so many should bring you the warmth felt by all.

Thanks for all the support you gave me.....it meant so much that you were so understanding of my weakness and my stupid backache!

Oh Judy, there are just some things that people will never see eye to eye on. I am in a heated argument with my friend and coworker over how often it's OK to monitor my baby bluebirds. She is an experienced and avid birder involved in many aspects of birding and banding. I have learned so much from her, and respect her. But...She thinks that I am bothering them because I check every 3-5 days. She says only once a week.

The parallel to the eagles nesting...The BB built the nest as we walked by the nest several times a day with the dogs. They were not concerned, built the nest anyway, even as I checked the nesting progress every couple of days. This has been going on here for years. The BB didn't just pick the box hoping that nothing would ever come near them once they did. Just like the eagles, they are well aware of the environment in which they choose to build and wouldn't do so if they wouldn't tolerate local activities. Our own eagles are very used to what goes on in their environment! A pair that build a nest in a more secluded area may NOT tolerate unexpected disruptions. Same with the BBs. Beyond that, I know never to look in first thing in the morning or at/after sunset, or on foggy and rainy days, and don't use a flash when I take the pictures. I know never to check after day 13 in order to prevent too early fledging. I don't touch them. I look to make sure there are no wasps, blowflies, etc. in the box, or a dead baby attracting flies and then maggots that could harm the surviving offspring. And they CAN be removed and checked if need be without fear of parental abandonment. BBs are very tolerant, where as other birds are not. Eagles tolerate people gathering in droves to climb into nests, remove babies, band them and climb back in! And return each year knowing this to raise another clutch! When the BBs first started nesting here, I did plenty of research. I don't just haphazardly check them. Years of research and monitoring have shown us what will be tolerated. I think the person reacting to the noise made at our nest is over reacting about it, but like my friend, everyone has their own thoughts on things.

Yes, Margy. Sheetz was significant yesterday.

Had to wait to check in, called Jo's phone, Mr. Jo answered. Gave me Michael's cell. Called Michael. He told Jo I was at the Sheetz store (and I was). Drove to Clarion to sit with Jo and Michael. SOOOOOOOO happy to have Michael's number (very attractive son Jo has).

Off to to try to finish the newspaper if I can stay awake.

Belle still trying to cover her babes. Rain almost looks sleet-like.

Bye

Belle AND the babies will be doing some powerful wing-shaking off today...sure Belle will welcome some relief from Shep when the time comes

Lynne2, I'm absolutely certain your bluebirds will be just fine!
You speak wisely....
I loved the picture of the Real Men wearing their Eagle Beads!
And on the children, the beads reached nearly down to their knees !

I saw that 6-inch snow prediction come in at work yesterday on our weather mesages for the Allegheny Mountains and thought it was a joke!

heading out now, see you fine friends later on
