I am off to yoga and to try to find a filter for my vacuum. The hard ware stroe did not have them when I phoned this morning. I will try walmart and also the vacuum repair shop.

Hello everybody. I was just heating up some hamburger that had been browned earlier so I could drain the grease off of it and it blew up. Hamburger flew everywhere. Thank God the dogs helped me clean it up!

Got home about 2:30. Parked on the street to give Tom room. He has been respectful, but good grief, he is filling my garage. This house is going to explode from all of the stuff here. I probably will not be able to park in the garage for months.

Don't know whether Carolyn is bringing everything here today or tomorrow.

Someone asked about Darth's leg. He goes back for a checkup tomorrow. In general, his immune system is rather weak so ability to fight minor infections is impaired. He'll be fine. Has a meeting tonight so (Sharon) it will be hamburgers on onion rolls.

Well I had a very successful day...I found the filter for my vacuum in a little obscure shope in the basement of a heritage building( has to be over a 100 years to get the designation) My was it crowded in there and more on the dark side and I was sure that he won't be able to find anything in there. I said what I wanted and he found it right away. A young man in his thirties with a lovely smile and very helpful and co-operative. Around the building major construction and had to balance on boards to get in there and the workers were very helpful and stopped drilling while I was crossing...So I now have not only a filter to go with the vacuum but also have one of those little hand vacuums to do small jobs and to get the car clean over the winter instead of taking it to be shampooed and vacuumed three times during the season I will take it in once at the end. They put so much sand down because it gets icy and half of it gets into my car I am sure...so my little Hoover Vacuum will help me with maintaining the car. Yoga class was with a sub as the regular teacher is celebrating her Birthday, I did alright with the sub also.Went to walmart to get another mat for my conditioning class which starts on Thursday and a length of tube with handle for the exercises we will do. I will let you all know how it goes, I think it is a form of Pilates.
LYNN I am glad your chores are done and I hope you monitored yourself. You sound well and thoughtful as you spoke of telling your sister and wondering about telling your mom...your consideration touches my heart.

Lovely weather in the 60's today and oh the colours are a feast to the eyes...I stopped at the lake to see if I could spot some birds and only saw the Canadian geese. They winter here...The osprey I am sure are gone and some of the eagles winter here and others go away, but I did not see any eagles today.

MARGY I took some time yesterday and wrote my story for the autobiography writing class. I wrote about my life from 1952- 1956 with the revolution and the war and how they affected the way I see the world...it is my first recollection of confusion and my coping mechanism from then still is with me...when I am confused I do very little and I focus on observing and learning, I feel very panicky inside and I have to work with that so it would not overwhelm me into takeing action simply to evade the feeling. I do not like the feeling of panic. I will retouch it later on this evening and then I am good to go for tomorrow...early morning yoga nad then an after noon with autobiography writing.
I forgot to tell you all that today I also stopped at the Capitol Theatre and bought a ticket to go see JUDY COLLINS when she is in Nelson on November 13th. It will make for a very busy day, as I go to yoga in the morning and do my groceries then go to help cook the African Dinner and then go to dinner and leave early from there to go listen to Judy Collins. I felt it was an opportunity not to be missed.The tickets are going fast.

Yes, Dr Zantop was one of the few avian vets around here. He was a good one, well respected. MY former boss is also an avian vet. He is such because there are so few, and he charges very high prices. And he isn't that good. Oh, he said that at a staff meeting once, the high prices/only game in town thing. He's an ass.

Lynn, you have the same problem that I do? It's a pain in the tush having to transfer $$ back and forth to cover bill payments. We don't spend beyond our means, but somehow Kubby's every-two-weeks paycheck, our SS deposits, and the bill due dates never seem to coincide. Aargh!

Nope, Andy, not me......I don't have to move money back and forth...just wish that the utilities. etc. would stagger payment dates throughout the month. It would be less painful to look at if it dribbled out of the account over the whole month rather than all within a short span! I haven't had to touch the savings account or the CD's in many years, thankfully!
Judie, I know how independent cats can be, but I sure hope that Stella and Naomi have warmed up and you are getting some comfortable interaction with them now! Sleep tight!

Forgot to mention that I saw a crow and a mockingbird mobbing what looked like a Sharp-Shinned Hawk on Sunday! They were not at all happy that it was around! It got away from them. I was surprised to see a crow and a mocker working together--interesting combination.

Soooooooooo......we were getting ready to go. Told Jack one pie was in the garage refrig and the other was still on the counter fresh out of the oven. I put it in its carrier and he went to get the pie out of the refrig. He promptly dropped it with the glass pie plate shattering. Yep, there on the garage floor...pumpking pie mush...full of glass. It was the layered cheesecake pumpkin pie.:( I said a BAD word! Jack said he was sorry! LOL I was really thankful it was not the traditional pumpkin pie. That was what Joseph wanted.
Jack got the new basketball goal put toether. It took several hours. I went to school to walk with Jacob as Joseph had choir. I about got knocked over when he ran and jumped on me. ☺ The principal came and gave me a hug. She saw the running leap! Said she knew I was here for Joseph's bday and noticed that Jacob was only a little excited and happy to see me.
We then went home and Jacob did his home work. Then Joseph came home and started on his homework. Such good boys! Then Laurel got home and we let Joseph open his presents. He was thrilled with everything, but of course the goal was the biggy. Out to eat and then pumpkin pie! We even put candles on it!
PC, the new kitty, is really sweet. I took Laurel a bag of kitty food. She said Jacob cried himself to sleep last night because the kitty was outside and they had a thunderstorm. He was worried about the kitty. However, until she can afford to take it to the vet it has to stay outside and besides would not get along with Izzybelle nor Bosco. Laurel has put the cat carrier on the porch with a towel in it and a towel over it. Nice and cozy!

I briefly outlined the day as meeting at the Admin. Bldg at 10am, visiting the nest, going to the Commons for the Gift Shop and having lunch in the cafeteria.
What a wild and crazy day this was. GG's doctor appointment was a follow up for her last injection. Pain relief only lasted about 2 days. I agreed to allow the doctor to give her one more shot. I'm so disappointed in the lack of results with these expensive shots and nothing to show for it! Her spirits are still good, so maybe the shots are helping just a little. I really don't like making decisions about someone else's health and well being.
Soup Kitchen was a bit shy of our usual crowd. Don't know why, it was a beautiful evening for walking. We had another donation of toiletries and cosmetics and they were welcomed by some folks who missed out on the previous donation. I handed them out as our folks left for the evening, making sure those who were left out last time, were not left out this time. One of the men wanted a lipstick and I had to tell him they were for the ladies. OMG, wonder what he was going to do with it!?
MARGY donated more clothing and toys. The children loved the toys...they were gone in a hurry:) Clothing was a hit, also!
Gene's baked, bar-b-Q chicken was delicious as was the Chicken Corn Chowder...mmmmm! One of our helpers came in early and made 10 pies. Chocolate, coconut custard and lemon...superb!

I get up at 1:00 ... take a few hours to get ready then hit the road to work... Usually here by 3:40. You must be like me and just be a natural early bird... though I don't wake up at 1 on my days off... then it's usually around 4! But, I love mornings!

Yes, I am an early bird. I don't stay up late, although I did stay up and watch NCIS Los Angeles last night so that was pretty late for me. I usually wake up right at 5 before the alarm goes off. I love mornings too. Very quiet here. Soon I will have to wake the 2 kids.
So do you get off around noon? I think I was listening to you the other day when I left school at lunch. I had the radio to myself!

Hello everybody. I was just heating up some hamburger that had been browned earlier so I could drain the grease off of it and it blew up. Hamburger flew everywhere. Thank God the dogs helped me clean it up!

Sad that the avian vet. died. I'm sure he will be missed.
So nice the two bear cubs were rescued. Do hope they will be okay for release to live and grow and enjoy doing bear things.
Someone asked about Darth's leg. He goes back for a checkup tomorrow. In general, his immune system is rather weak so ability to fight minor infections is impaired. He'll be fine. Has a meeting tonight so (Sharon) it will be hamburgers on onion rolls.

Well I had a very successful day...I found the filter for my vacuum in a little obscure shope in the basement of a heritage building( has to be over a 100 years to get the designation) My was it crowded in there and more on the dark side and I was sure that he won't be able to find anything in there. I said what I wanted and he found it right away. A young man in his thirties with a lovely smile and very helpful and co-operative. Around the building major construction and had to balance on boards to get in there and the workers were very helpful and stopped drilling while I was crossing...So I now have not only a filter to go with the vacuum but also have one of those little hand vacuums to do small jobs and to get the car clean over the winter instead of taking it to be shampooed and vacuumed three times during the season I will take it in once at the end. They put so much sand down because it gets icy and half of it gets into my car I am sure...so my little Hoover Vacuum will help me with maintaining the car.
Yoga class was with a sub as the regular teacher is celebrating her Birthday, I did alright with the sub also.Went to walmart to get another mat for my conditioning class which starts on Thursday and a length of tube with handle for the exercises we will do. I will let you all know how it goes, I think it is a form of Pilates.
LYNN I am glad your chores are done and I hope you monitored yourself. You sound well and thoughtful as you spoke of telling your sister and wondering about telling your mom...your consideration touches my heart.

Lovely weather in the 60's today and oh the colours are a feast to the eyes...I stopped at the lake to see if I could spot some birds and only saw the Canadian geese. They winter here...The osprey I am sure are gone and some of the eagles winter here and others go away, but I did not see any eagles today.

Completely forgot to tell you all that I saw a Monarch today---first one I've seen all year---and I'm sure the last. It was probably heading south!
MARGY I took some time yesterday and wrote my story for the autobiography writing class. I wrote about my life from 1952- 1956 with the revolution and the war and how they affected the way I see the world...it is my first recollection of confusion and my coping mechanism from then still is with me...when I am confused I do very little and I focus on observing and learning, I feel very panicky inside and I have to work with that so it would not overwhelm me into takeing action simply to evade the feeling. I do not like the feeling of panic. I will retouch it later on this evening and then I am good to go for tomorrow...early morning yoga nad then an after noon with autobiography writing.
I forgot to tell you all that today I also stopped at the Capitol Theatre and bought a ticket to go see JUDY COLLINS when she is in Nelson on November 13th. It will make for a very busy day, as I go to yoga in the morning and do my groceries then go to help cook the African Dinner and then go to dinner and leave early from there to go listen to Judy Collins. I felt it was an opportunity not to be missed.The tickets are going fast.

Yes, Dr Zantop was one of the few avian vets around here. He was a good one, well respected. MY former boss is also an avian vet. He is such because there are so few, and he charges very high prices. And he isn't that good. Oh, he said that at a staff meeting once, the high prices/only game in town thing. He's an ass.

As I was leaving the school, a woman and a preschooler were walking towards it. Picked up this bit of conversation:

Strange day at Park. One group w/children cancelled, then family of one of the history ladies came to tour museums & have a boat ride.
More small birds flitting around in the shrubs at top of River bank by office & some big guys on River.
Think today's tiny bird was a yellow-rumped warbler.Got some pics I have to dwnld.Also saw heron, harrier, and a couple egrets.
The best sighting was an inanimate object on a journey! Put it in Nook!

Lynn, you have the same problem that I do? It's a pain in the tush having to transfer $$ back and forth to cover bill payments. We don't spend beyond our means, but somehow Kubby's every-two-weeks paycheck, our SS deposits, and the bill due dates never seem to coincide. Aargh!

Nope, Andy, not me......I don't have to move money back and forth...just wish that the utilities. etc. would stagger payment dates throughout the month. It would be less painful to look at if it dribbled out of the account over the whole month rather than all within a short span! I haven't had to touch the savings account or the CD's in many years, thankfully!
I wore myself out with a writing project and some packages to send out...
I might fall alseep with my prayers but I'll pick back up on them when the alarm clock/s ding!

Forgot to mention that I saw a crow and a mockingbird mobbing what looked like a Sharp-Shinned Hawk on Sunday! They were not at all happy that it was around! It got away from them. I was surprised to see a crow and a mocker working together--interesting combination.

Hi all! We are home!
Soooooooooo......we were getting ready to go. Told Jack one pie was in the garage refrig and the other was still on the counter fresh out of the oven. I put it in its carrier and he went to get the pie out of the refrig. He promptly dropped it with the glass pie plate shattering. Yep, there on the garage floor...pumpking pie mush...full of glass. It was the layered cheesecake pumpkin pie.:( I said a BAD word! Jack said he was sorry! LOL I was really thankful it was not the traditional pumpkin pie. That was what Joseph wanted.
Jack got the new basketball goal put toether. It took several hours. I went to school to walk with Jacob as Joseph had choir. I about got knocked over when he ran and jumped on me. ☺ The principal came and gave me a hug. She saw the running leap! Said she knew I was here for Joseph's bday and noticed that Jacob was only a little excited and happy to see me.
We then went home and Jacob did his home work. Then Joseph came home and started on his homework. Such good boys! Then Laurel got home and we let Joseph open his presents. He was thrilled with everything, but of course the goal was the biggy. Out to eat and then pumpkin pie! We even put candles on it!
PC, the new kitty, is really sweet. I took Laurel a bag of kitty food. She said Jacob cried himself to sleep last night because the kitty was outside and they had a thunderstorm. He was worried about the kitty. However, until she can afford to take it to the vet it has to stay outside and besides would not get along with Izzybelle nor Bosco. Laurel has put the cat carrier on the porch with a towel in it and a towel over it. Nice and cozy!

I briefly outlined the day as meeting at the Admin. Bldg at 10am, visiting the nest, going to the Commons for the Gift Shop and having lunch in the cafeteria.

What a wild and crazy day this was. GG's doctor appointment was a follow up for her last injection. Pain relief only lasted about 2 days. I agreed to allow the doctor to give her one more shot. I'm so disappointed in the lack of results with these expensive shots and nothing to show for it! Her spirits are still good, so maybe the shots are helping just a little. I really don't like making decisions about someone else's health and well being.
Soup Kitchen was a bit shy of our usual crowd. Don't know why, it was a beautiful evening for walking.
We had another donation of toiletries and cosmetics and they were welcomed by some folks who missed out on the previous donation. I handed them out as our folks left for the evening, making sure those who were left out last time, were not left out this time. One of the men wanted a lipstick and I had to tell him they were for the ladies. OMG, wonder what he was going to do with it!?
MARGY donated more clothing and toys. The children loved the toys...they were gone in a hurry:)
Clothing was a hit, also!
Gene's baked, bar-b-Q chicken was delicious as was the Chicken Corn Chowder...mmmmm!
One of our helpers came in early and made 10 pies. Chocolate, coconut custard and lemon...superb!
Just look at the time...don't know why I can't get to bed earlier??!

Yes, I am an early bird. I don't stay up late, although I did stay up and watch NCIS Los Angeles last night so that was pretty late for me. I usually wake up right at 5 before the alarm goes off. I love mornings too. Very quiet here. Soon I will have to wake the 2 kids.
