Ceil, you have done it again! Happy New Thread! lol

Thanks Steve for the new thread.

Good morning all! Forgive my bad manners last night, I fell sound asleep in my chair witht the computer on my lap. When I did wake I was so groggy I just went straight to bed.

As you can see....we are not in Denton for the boys games. All athletic fields were closed because of rain during the night. We would go on up there except this is race weekend, so we are just avoiding possible traffic problems.

Good sunny morning!

A little bit late (because I didn't know about it until today!) but big thanks and appreciation to our very own 911 Telecommunicator Margy (Magpie) on this last day of
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week!

The following article in our local paper is about one of her co-workers, but the 2nd small picture shows Margy in the middle (in red and black):

911 Honors

hedgie said...

Also, my daughter Carolyn is applying for a job opening they have there, so please keep your fingers crossed for her!

hedgie said...

Yippee for Paula!!! She must have had ESP, too, as she went to bed early "in case"!! Hope the little arrives quickly and safely! Push, Ajay!

stronghunter said...

thanks for the call-over, ceil and the new thread steve

pardon the all lower case

working on the feeling better thing

mostly it is just a lack of energy

stronghunter said...

lynn, best wishes for carolyn

hedgie said...

Shirley, sure hope you get to feeling better.
Mock drill sounds like fun! They stage those here a few times a year, but I think mostly on Sats.
Bet the kids loved it!

Talking about babies and grandma's: when Carolyn had Jessica, Chris and I left around 11pm; she went first because she needed to get gas. I walked out and left my keys on the kitchen table!! Tried to break in to my own house with no luck. Was going to walk a mile to a little country store to use pay phone but it was too dark---no moon! Sat for 2 hrs. (hearing phone ring and ring) until my BIL came to find out where I was and what was wrong!! Luckily, I didn't miss anything! She ended up having a c-sec 10 hrs. later!

hedgie said...

Have you seen the size of the moss clumps in the Finland nest??? Any room left for the birds?? LOL!

stronghunter said...

kathryn ended up with c-section also.

stronghunter said...

what an adventure, lynn

hedgie said...

It was definitely a "duh-stupid me!" moment, Shirley!

hedgie said...

Very breezy here today....don't think I can work outside in it. At least the rain has tamped down some of the pollen.

Lolly said...

No, Mits, the race is NOT for me. Guess I am not a redneck. However, I have been around that track at over 100mph! It was scary, but fun!

hedgie said...

Lolly, heard about your rain predictions. We had a lot of games rained-out yesterday, too.

Lolly said...

Have been over checking out fb and watching Hope videos. I wanna a little bear of my very own! lol

I am off to clean. My house will be very thankful!

Have a good day! I'll be back....!

Lolly said...

Will they cancel the race?

Mits said...

Good Lord, I'm not a redneck, thank God, but I do find the races interesting.

Mits said...

yeah if the weather is too bad

Lolly said...

It is raining now. We have had over a half inch. THAT IS ENOUGH!
It will be August before we dry up!

Mits said...

when the race is in Dover, alot of people stay south in ocean city, the ones I met last year that rented a condo were from upstate NY

stronghunter said...

we joked that kathryn almost gave birth at the vet's, though that is not really true.

kathryn, tom, and susan picked george up at the vet's after having left the hospital when it was decided she wasn't quite ready to stay there yet. while they wewe getting george, she went into real labor, so susan informed the people there that her sister was in labor in the parking lot. they made a quick meowing-lamaze-breathing trip to deliver george to my house and back to the hospital. kathryn's labor wasn't over until early the next morning.

i think the kids really enjoyed the mock crash presentation. i hope the serious part of the presentation got across to them as well.

one girl got a helicopter ride out of it.

Lolly said...

Well, I just have never been interested in the races. To me it is a useless life threatening activity! I do think the week long tailgateing would be fun! I am always amazed at all the RV's.

Lolly said...

They have done that for several years at our hs, Shirley. I do hope it impresses the kids!

Mits said...

yeah pretty much like footbal, but with cars.

Lolly said...

Best part of both Laurel's boys being born as I was right there with her. When Jacob was born I was supporting her leg, I was on one side, Joey on the other. Truly miraculous!

Lolly said...

I am pulling a Margy! Yikes! Said I was going to leave, but keep coming back. You all are such great company! ♥

lol Hedgie-Lynn about Hope

stronghunter said...

So Hope pooped in the woods. Isn't that what bears are supposed to do? I did not know that mom had to help. Interesting.

BEagle said...

Good morning everyone. Sounds like the blog is a-buzz with news about a grand baby.

It was fun watching Palmer eating spaghetti. It also looks like Palm took another growth spurt.

The TH nest was having something of a feathered meal. They were right in front of camera. Up close and personal.

BEagle said...

Oh. Bears do not have poop shoots?

wvgal_dana said...

Wonder if Charmin was there? lol

Congratulations Ceil you will make a great volunteer. I love the Baltimore National Aquarium.

wvgal_dana said...

Hedgie-Lynnwas there any snow mix in yesterday with the rain?

stronghunter said...

Hungry. Going to go find some food.

Mema Jo said...

At least Hope hid herself behind the tree. Soooooooo cute with that Backing Up. It did remind me of Palmer and others as to how they back up to get to the edge.

Hope sure can climb trees!

Headed back the hall for street clothes

Mema Jo said...

p.s. I am very anxious to get a guided tour from Ceil of the aquarium.
I remember going to zoo with family and Mits being there. That was a fun day.

wvgal_dana said...

Foggie and wet at Milford Conn today. Don't know if that is a glove or just something whitish gray in the nest.

hedgie said...

No, Dana, no snow....too warm---80 when storms started; 60 last evening; think there was hail in some places, tho'. SOmeone mentioned seeing it at our nest. Possible snow in western MD tonight! Hope it stays up there!!

wvgal_dana said...

Wow what a beautiful look at the Osprey nest in New Hampshire. Adult just flew off nest. I can't see any eggs. So don't know if they laid any yet.

BEagle said...

Checked the Hope video. How cute.
At least Hope shows a little modesty for her young age.

The PH chicks are in full view. They are growing fast. They are 2 weeks behind Palmer.

The TH nest is one week behind.

At least I think so.

NatureNut said...

Good Morning Everyone. What a beautiful picture!

So we can get a better look.

Lolly I wanted to expess to you. I think a lot of us have the same sad feelings you are having for Deb Palmer at this time. This time of year she would be sending us pictures and probably already into kayaking. I know I have share those tears too.

Making the egg cup a little deeper. Parent knows it is going to be cold tonight. Getting fluff closer in for our Palmer.

Mema Jo said...

Headed out for a few hours

Hope there is a message from Paula by then - for Ajay's sake.
Paula may need to take off tomorrow to keep her grandsons! ((hugs))

Hi, Everyone,

Paula, this is S-O-O-O-O-O exciting!!
So happy for you! Can't wait to hear more. :o] Ready for a really joyful story! :o]

Have been in a real funk since yesterday... Our trigger-happy neighbor has been at it again! :o{ We called the cops on him this morning, because we actually SAW him with a BB gun to his shoulder, aiming at our big trees and shooting--maybe 10 or 12 shots! Yesterday I had to clean up our yard; 2 dead adult Black-crowned night herons out there. Another one in the front yard early this morning.
Talk about upsetting!!!! The policeman called me and talked to me before he went and talked to the neighbor. He said he could actually ARREST the guy on MY word, since I actually SAW him shooting. Sort of like a citizen's arrest. I didn't want to go that far, though. Afraid to p__s the guy off. The policeman gave him a STRONG warning, and told him that SEVERAL people had called about it, so we wouldn't be singled out. VERY upsetting, though. Next time, will try to get a flashless picture of the guy if possible. It's been quiet back there for a while now, but almost afraid to go fill the bird feeders and water the patio plants--let alone, sit at our patio table! Grateful that none of our windows are broken, though. Just gives me a lousy feeling in the pit of my stomach to think that we have a neighbor whose first reaction to being annoyed is to grab a firearm! (Wonder what OTHER kinds of guns he's got back there!) Oh, my, so sorry to rant and rave so, but just had to vent! Did call and tell Sis-in-law that if anything ever happens to Hubby or me under suspicious circumstances, to be sure to mention the wacko neighbor to the authorities! Am going to gather up some courage and go water the poor dry patio plants and fill the bird feeders, with the hope that our feathered friends will be safe--not to mention, me too!

ceil said...

Andrea I know the feeling. Have a neighbor who is not very nice to his dogs but have to be afraid of him Although when he hit one I did go after him.

Ms Bookworm said...

Thanks, Ceil--I think I really will pursue it further if this sort of thing happens again. Just don't feel at all comfortable about this neighbor.

Paula, what great pictures! That little new person is a real sweetie!
You are going to have SO much fun with her!!! Your happy story has done a lot to cheer me up, too! TY!

BEagle said...

Belle has something in her beak and trying to stay still on that windy nest.

paula eagleholic said...

Caught here here just a tad...

congrats Margy!

good luck Carolyn!

Lolly, sorry the game got rained out!

Gotta go fold clothes and head out. Catch you all later. Thanks for all the hugs, kisses, wishes, compliments and prayers!

Love ya'll ♥♥

Ms Bookworm said...

Shirley, hope you get to feeling MUCH better real soon! I have a problem with an irritable bowel (our daughter has actually been diagnosed with IBS), and when it flares, must take Immodium to quiet it down. Pretty annoying at times, and know it must put a real monkey wrench into your schedule at school! Prayers for your speedy improvement!

stronghunter said...

Andy, you have a bunch of witnesses on here that can say you have been complaining about this guy for some time.

BEagle said...

My blog is acting up but the cam is clear.

stronghunter said...

Thanks for the kind words, Andrea and everyone else. It does play havoc with my school schedule. I am fortunate to have mostly good classes.

I suppose I am crazy to keep teaching the SAT classes, but I do enjoy it. I have the next two Monday nights for that. I will take it as it comes. I enjoy working with students who are in class because they want to be.

Just learned recently that our school board decided to eliminate two English positions and two math positions in our county. Since two English teachers have resigned, we won't have any English teachers riffed. Don't know how it will play out in the math departments.

Last year, we had a French teacher and a Latin teacher who were laid off. The economy is hurting our schools.

stronghunter said...

I have a good live cam connection right now.

stronghunter said...

The English teacher who resigned was teaching the remaining French class. I guess we won't offer French next year, although it may be available by way of Virtual High School.

BEagle said...

There are high winds at the nest. Belle got in the egg cup to watch over Palmer. Too difficult to stand on the edge of the nest today.

The still cam would not come up for me either.

BEagle said...

I tried the live cam in another browser and had no problem with it.

BEagle said...

Looks like Palmer tried to squeeze into the egg cup too. Sure is windy there!

BEagle said...

It looks like Lib that just now showed up with a whole lot of nesting fluff.

stronghunter said...

Looks like Palmer just took over the nest cup.

stronghunter said...

Time to get going. BBL.

hedgie said...

Andy, so sorry about your awful night. Can understand your reluctance to press charges....same reason I can't even call and report the things my neighbor does. It stinks! Please be very careful and wary!!

hedgie said...

Judie said...

Congratulations to everyone, Paula. Good health and long life to Gianna. Lovely pictures. Thank you for sharing.

Shirley, sure do hope you feel better quickly. Can't be much fun.

Lynn, wishing Carolyn success with the job. What fun working with/near Margy.

Congratulations, Ceil. Does this mean we shouldn't eat fish?

Andy, I wish you and Lynn could get rid of the unpleasant neighbors.

Margy, congrats on your new grand-niece!!! Is this Dewayne's daughter? Big girl!!!

stronghunter said...

Hi Margy!

The state police and the rescue and fire people put on quite a show for us. I talked to a man who happened to come into the school while things were going on. (A sales guy from Jostens.) He said that it scared him at first. He thought something awful was going on at the school, but figured out that it was not a real crash when he saw all of the students watching.

I have one student in training to be a paramedic who participated and a couple of others who were in charge of planning the event. They did very well.

I also noticed one of my former students who was involved in the make-up application. He wants to be a director, and has already gotten quite a bit of recognition for his work. Pretty good for a senior in high school. Some of the close-up shots show how well the make-up people did.

Not caught up yet. How is everyone?

How was our Palmer today?

I'm watching it, too, Jo. Did you watch the other one last week? Think it was called At Risk....same main players, except for one. Love Cornwell's books, especially the Scarpetta eries.

Make that SERIES!

Paula, you need to hit the sheetz!!! Will Ajay and Gianni be coming home tomorrow?? Bet the boys are excited!

LOL Margy, your baby beat my baby! What a whopper! Congrats!

And congrats to you Wanda, you figured it out! Ajay wanted to name the baby a feminine form of Johnie, after John. So her grandfather came up with Gianni (Italian for John) which is actually pronounce Jawhnee, but they are going with the G-ann-ee pronunciation. I actually wanted Gianna, since Gianni is the male version.

But Ajay is set on the I not the A, but it is a lovely name anyhow. The Katheryn is for my Mom and the Katherine's on her side of the family as well.

Cohen was excited to see Gianni! They told him the baby was no longer in Mommy's tummy, and he had a look of wonderment on his face. They told him to look in the bassinet. "Wowww", he said.

Brensin, who is 2, just said Baby, baby. :)

Ajay should be coming home on Monday. She is doing good today and so is Gianni. Stopped in Frederick on way home, John and I went to dinner, Ajay had GF's in the room for dinner.

We went to Best Buy, and I helped John pick out a laptop for her birthday, which is next Sunday. I bought her a laptop bag, mouse and flash drive.

And oh, yes, signed another contract on the house, for the current asking price in full, no contingencies.

I'm pooped!

Oh I hear the noise on our cam, sounds like a record is over that needs to be taken off the turntable!

Remember seeing that baby moosie a couple of yeara ago, Lolly! Precious.....ya' know, "kids" are all alike, regardless of species. Don't care what ANYBODY says, animals think and feel and laugh and play and cry and grieve, just like humans!!

PRAYERS FOR ALL

Even the adult moose is having a good time in that sprinkler!

A 16 y.o. is on the run from TN for killing 2---sounds like they may have been policemen. He stole a uniform, and COULD be in this area on his way to PA. Unbelievable.

hedgie said...

I will say my goodnights now...heading for tub shortly. Chilly night, but wind has stopped---finally!!! Saw the pretty crescent moon earlier.
Sleep well, friends. Love all y'all. Prayers.

Oops...sorry, Shirley, for giving credit to Lolly instead of YOU!!!!
