GOOD MORNING STEVEN!!---Thanks for the new threads!!---Thanks for taking care of us!!---WE APPRECIATE YOUR DOING SO!---ENJOY this BEAUTIFUL DAY!---YOU ARE #1 today & every day!!!!
GOOD MORNIN' "GROUND HOG WATCHERS"!!----HELLO!---"GROUND HOG SPOKESWOMAN" HELEN!---Yep!--He really saw his SHADOW this a.m.!! It's so SUNNY here---one should put on their "SHADES"!---ho!
Happy Ground Hog Day to all! Just signing in - Will go to previous morning comments to see what you all have been talking about. I see the Barton's Cove eagle nesting-with the snow & ice in the nest. They hatched last year under the same conditions.
MORNIN' WANDA---DANA--HELEN--CANDY & DEB!!----Tell me about the NORFOLK egg?---I read last night's blog---but didn't understand most of it!!!---Educate me!!
I watched NORFOLK earlier & just a min. ago!---1 EAGLE still in nest & she has been looking down & moving something with her bill---emulating egg turning!!---Gets up & down---turns around--wing spread, etc.---Interesting to watch!!! (maybe i am wishing TOO hard)--- ho!
Emails were so few this am .. Read all your comments .. You all crack me up at times with your discussions-I love it! Now I will surf some cams.
Remember that the NBG nest is very very deep and even though they can ZOOM - we may not see the egg(s)but we'll see the adults motions that indicate the egg(s). Tesoro nest also is deep.
DEB---What's happen in SD??---I enjoy learning about your state---Have always wanted to visit---but now ALASKA has moved to #1---ho!--but you all have ZILLIONS of EAGLE too!!
Amazing how fast the BW eagle dried out. Watching the NBG cam - eagle just sitting there - not really in a nesting (incubating) position.. Can't imagine why no official announcement has come out on their site. I can't find any comments.
The 'LITTLE PRINCE' has had his daily stroll & now enjoying a BAMBOO BREAK!!-----MEI has been eating BAMBOO too!!----Isn't it fun to watch a huge pile of bamboo moving---& you can't see the PANDA!!
Thanks NORMA for the heads up on the new thread and thanks Steven for the new thread. We may not have our cam up, but our spirits are still up for the moment. We wond't send in a lynch mom yet to correct the situation. :):):) Only kidding. You all have been so very good to all of us AND we appreciate it.
Morning everyone. re/Norfolk--I followed link on previous thread to youtube that showed the owl coming to the nest and supposedly the mamma eagle laying an egg at about the same time.
PAULA It looks like the parent eagle is either defeathering or de haring whatever he has. You can see him pick it up and throw it to the wind. Wonder what he has.
Has anyone seen 3 eggs under BW parents or are there stilll two? NBG parent is getting into nest, looking around. Cam just panned in. Maybe she is going to warm that eagle/hawk egg for awhile. :):):) Yep settling down in egg cup it looks like.
MORNIN' GRANNYBLT!!---Thanks for the info on the NORFOLK NEST!---My lawn is still icy---but our roads are good too!!---Is this bread baking day!---ho!---Wish I lived closer!!---ho!
CANDY---LISA'S note (dated 2/1)--states that she is going to check the nest today (Sat.) & see if there is another egg---Otherwise she says they will have a 2 egg clutch!!!
PAULA Someone earlier suggested that maybe the owl tossed his egg into the nest last night and I commented that it swrves him right for butting in on a nest that wasn't his if it turned out to be the first Owl that acted like an eagle, :)
CANDY---That what the VA LADY was doing this a.m.---Could not get things just right to suit her!!---(just like you southern belles---hard to satisfy!!!
GOOD MORNING AGAIN LADIES... Candy and I were joking around this morning about the owl possibly dropping her egg into the nest like a Cowbird. If it is past the owl nesting season, then she may have had an unwanted pregnancy and let Nora & Norman adopt it. LOL
Candy, I noticed the Tesoro chicks eating breakfast this morning and the one smaller chick was not gettin fed for a long time. I finally worked it's way closer to parent and ate some, but the larger chick was ravenous and kept getting more than it's share. Probably 5 bites to the smaller one's l bite. Nature doing it's thing.
On the ME forum concerning the NBG nest joefore said: The GH owls have a nest in the Enchanted Forest section of Norfolk Botanical Garden and the female is on eggs.
Just watched the VA video from last night again...I couldn't see any egg popping out...I could see the eagles talons, though, which looked white in the night light.
At least you can finally see the egg in the close-up picture, so now we know. It is bright and sunny, snow starting again tomorrow. I am going to enjoy the sun. BBL.
OK, I see how that posting works now. Thanks Paula; can alway count on you and Jo to point us in the right direction. Just don't see anything definate.
Back to Norfolk with Mema Jo. In the picture two ahead of the one we looked at (11:46), if you look in the nest "exactly where her beak is pointing," you "might be able" to see the topside curve of the egg.
I think you're right, Paula... it's a stick, not an egg.
I know I saw an egg last night, and they are acting exactly like there is an egg in the cup now. It's just that the cup is pretty deep, and it's just a matter of time until we get another look at it.
MITS I was going to ask if anyone had checked on the Kent cam lately. It kind of looks like a darker blob on cam 2. Don't remember that being there before or am I wishful thinking?
Parent just few in to Tesoro. Where are the bobbing heads? :)Just checking things out and rearragning the nest, Making sure the children were being good chicks. Ooooh here come the two little heads.
It did warm up here but not up as high as what they thought it would. Tomorrow is to be in the 50° - It is 37° here and only 31° at the nest. BUT best thing is There is NO precipitation.......
Yes JO, it warmed up here too today with the sun out and shining brightly. We have 49' here now. Still warmer than Deb in SD. That poor gal; can't imagine it.
You are sooooooooooooo right. We want only good weather for our eagle nest. I am not even going to listen to the ground hog. We are going to have nice weather up there if we all have to go and sit in the tree and hold a heater and an umbrella over it to protect it. I would even quit working to do it, at this point. :)
DEB If I lived out there with you, I would probably be so bundled up I couldn't walk. :)
Once I lived in New York state with all the snow. I loved it coming down, just as long as I didn't have to shovel ot, drive in it, or plan my life around it. We don't get much on the coast of Carolina. When we do, the kids just go crazy. Now that I have lived down here for 25years, I am freezing as soon as the temp. goes below 50. :)
My sister and dad have moved to CA and it is funny to hear them complain about the temperature. My dad told me how cold it was last night--37. My uncle from Phoenix wears long underwear in Colorado in the summer! I would die of overheating. It just depends on what you are used to.
DEB I don't think that I would want to go any farther south than here as it gets hot enough here in the summer. I do love watching the snow come down and the peacefulness it brings with it. When we used to go to Midnight Mass up north, it would be beautiful when the snow came down oon Christmas Eve. I love snow, but I want it to come down and then stay a few hours and then evaporate. :)
Well all things seem peaceful and quiet for tonight. I just finished my emails. Guess I'll call it a night on here and see if there is any basketball on. Everyone have a peaceful and restful night. Tomorrow rings a new day and new beginnings. GOOD NIGHT ALL
We've updated our Eagle Cam Web Log with news about our two-egg clutch and also with news about the owl causing trouble at the Norfolk Eagle Cam.In addition, the blog mentions the recent sluggishness of our website.
Howdy folks .. i just logged into the camera and it had blue at the top and the time was correct and there was and eagle in the nest or is that an earlier picture thats stuck? Now the cam is blue...
Hi Nilla - Cam froze early early am hours on Friday. Bad part is that Belle was in the nest then - so we don't know what went on. Could have that 1st egg.. Guess we'll find out on Monday.
Thanks Jo .... I saw the video Jim sent showing the Norfollk eagle with the owl.. Amazing at first i thought she attacked it and was setting on it...lol Hope the egg is ok with all the flopping around im sure she was careful with her feet.. I was in Shepherstown today but with daughter in law and Jazzy.... thought of Sandy as i passed her house... Well early day tomarrow Niters and maybe asurprize egg on monday!!!
Great weblog by Lisa as usual....loved that Woody's pictures made it on the brochure...had to go visit his site again...got lost over there. So many wonderful pics...
I have to check it out, but I think Woody Dawson was the name of the photographer, who gave me a free all-day-Saturday course in the use of a 35 mm camera back in 1984.
I had just bought a beautiful Leica body and basic set of lenses, so the camera shop paid for lessons. It was November 1984 in Costa Mesa, CA, and I think Woody said he taught at Cal State Fullerton.
He did a very good job for one day, and he gave us a copy of a small photography book(let) he had written (since lost). I'm almost sure his last name was Dawson....
WOW...just stopped by briefly, noticed Danelle was here late, and I just read Lisa's BW Log and got totally caught up in Woody Dawson's web-site...heading back to bed...later!!

THANKS LISA!!---Really appreciate you keeping us updated & answering are many questions!!----You have shown WOODY DAWSON photos before!!---He is GOOD!! You also have BOB---he shares his GREAT photography with us too!---
Where did you get the NORA & NORMAN name?---Trying to remember if they had a name last year!!---I remember I referred to the EAGLETS as the 'REBELS'---a southern thing!---
Nora and Norman are just my names for the 2 beautiful Norfolk eagles. I can keep track better if the birds are named. I asked Steve Lighter from Norfolk, if the eagles had a name and they don't. Any bird or animal that is observed day in and day out by a nation, should certainly have a name!

Think that was mom that left at Tesoro
Maybe that was a bird at tesoro - looks like feather plucking now
Yes, feathers flying!
PAULA It looks like the parent eagle is either defeathering or de haring whatever he has. You can see him pick it up and throw it to the wind. Wonder what he has.

Candy and I were joking around this morning about the owl possibly dropping her egg into the nest like a Cowbird. If it is past the owl nesting season, then she may have had an unwanted pregnancy and let Nora & Norman adopt it. LOL
Wonder if VA is trying to lay another egg?
NO DONKEYS-!!!--Guess it's too late!----Have you ever seen that before DANA?
Candy, I noticed the Tesoro chicks eating breakfast this morning and the one smaller chick was not gettin fed for a long time. On the ME forum concerning the NBG nest joefore said: The GH owls have a nest in the Enchanted Forest section of Norfolk Botanical Garden and the female is on eggs.
Thanks for that info, Jo. I wonder why the owl is getting into the eagles nest; I guess it hopes there are eggs in there to snack on.
Is Joe one of the zoomers?
joefore was just a blogger on the forum as far as I know..
Just watched the VA video from last night again...I couldn't see any egg popping out...I could see the eagles talons, though, which looked white in the night light.
both eagles at NBG
heading out to bridal shower luncheon....BBL
They both left at VA and now it looks like Dad is nestled back in!
GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY!!
Haven't seen too much yet, but ZZ is a climbin...
BWE looks drier and happier.
The Hummingbird is dozing and darting off to find enough feed for those young birds.

Thanks, Mema Jo, but I'm not sure what we are looking at.... Waiting to see if there is an egg??
I did see that Paula is turning English (or Canadian) from reading the blog at IWS so much :~)
"Behaviour"
Jim
I'm with you JIM, I don't see an egg and not sure the pic taker is showing us that there is one or isn't one???
DEB, in which photo do you see the close-up of an egg. I must not be looking at the right photo.
That would be English, Jim :)
The last pic - but I agree with you Wanda
A gaggle of turkeys in PA
ZZ and Bai have both decided to take a nap in the heights. They're making me sleepy too...........
Jim
OK, I see how that posting works now. Thanks Paula; can alway count on you and Jo to point us in the right direction.
Just don't see anything definate.
Back to Norfolk with Mema Jo. In the picture two ahead of the one we looked at (11:46), if you look in the nest "exactly where her beak is pointing," you "might be able" to see the topside curve of the egg.
Take a look.
Jim
Look at the last 2 pics on the Maine Forum - you can see exactly the same thing in both pics....don't think that's an egg!
My norfolk is down...
I think you're right, Paula... it's a stick, not an egg.
I know I saw an egg last night, and they are acting exactly like there is an egg in the cup now. It's just that the cup is pretty deep, and it's just a matter of time until we get another look at it.
Jim
Mine is down too, Paula. Happens to me often.
I need some more WAX!!
Per Norfolk
The first egg of the 2008 season was laid after sunset on Feb. 1.
They have a slideshow up
They have an egg pic! I posted on the Maine forum, or check out the slideshow for yourself!
Have to go take a shower and get ready to go into work to close out the month....TTUL!!
Not doubting Norfolk has an egg, just can't see it! Are they just assuming there is one because of the way Nora and Norman are acting?
Norfolk is back on...gotta go...
Hi, back from bridal shower, going to Mass, then Engagement party....just looked a KENT NEST and looks like there is some green paper on cam #2???
Off to Mass BBL
Party weekend for Mits!
YEAH, and I'm already partied out...good thing , this one is walking distance tonight.
OK....THERE IS A GUY IN THE NEST AT KENT...WORKING ON CAM
Chicks must be snoozing at Tesoro - no sign of chicks or parents
Norfolk - nest is MT again!
Kent - the guy is gone
No chicks snoozing at Tesoro now. Botrh are up and flapping and trying to size each other up. They are sooo funny.
All you can see are dark eaglet shapes against the gray sky. They must be waiting for supper.
Does anyone know what they're doing at Kent or what they have changed? I can't see anything changed for the better yet.
Jim
MITS I was going to ask if anyone had checked on the Kent cam lately. It kind of looks like a darker blob on cam 2. Don't remember that being there before or am I wishful thinking?
I got a funny notice that Windows had not enough resources, even though I have over a gigabyte available????
Think I'll restart the puter anyway.
Later.
Jim
One parent in NBG nest messing with nest. I hope we don't see a return of the owl tonight.
Now it looks like she has settled in for the night.
Parent still on BW eggs. Haven't seen anyone say there were three eggs there yet or not.
Deer now at Pa cam; one has a rack on the head. I missed the gaggle of turkeys today.
Tesoro chicks seemed to have calmed down for the time being. Oh no, there comes a head popping up. :)
Parent just few in to Tesoro. Where are the bobbing heads? :)Just checking things out and rearragning the nest, Making sure the children were being good chicks. Ooooh here come the two little heads.
Candy Mits caught some pics of the human nestorations at Kent nest today
Someone else sent me a pic also
I'll try to send through Momsters but will forward some now to you......
a pre viewing!
Both eagles in NBG nest. Maybe they are getting a united front against the owl set up for tonight.
Only one parent now. I was hoping they would both stick around for awhile.
Thanks JO. I'll go and check them out. I do so hope the eagles come back there.
Off to eat dinner here at the table..
Usually had the cam up & our eagles would entertain me......
BBL
Hey, it's 21 here right now, that's not bad at all! Going to be 31 tomorrow.
we are holding on to 50°, and sun has been down for an hour....TTUAL!!
Buck on the deer cam.
Later Jo. I am finally checking my emails.
Hey DEB. Things are looking up for you with that Temp. Maybe you can take off one layer of clothes. :)
I have on 3-quarter sleeve t-shirt today, too warm for a sweatshirt!

Hi Deb.. Your pheasant avatar is so beautiful. I remember your photos of the pheasant tracks in the snow....
I'm not sure I am up to going over to NBG this evening..... we'll see.
I didn't take that picture, found it for Norma, she wants to learn more about my state, so I started with the state bird.
JO NBG has been quiet so far and dark. I haven't been closely watching, as I am checking my email, but haven't noticed anything.
Well all things seem peaceful and quiet for tonight. I just finished my emails. Guess I'll call it a night on here and see if there is any basketball on. Everyone have a peaceful and restful night. Tomorrow rings a new day and new beginnings.

NORMA & HELEN, getting our day started for us: It's a good thing!
I looked at the newest photos of the Norfolk nest and the egg is visible, so we know for sure Nora and Norman are going to be parents.
Lord or Lady BW is on the 2 eggs. According to Lisa, that will be all for this year. But, then, who knows. 2 is good, 3 is better.

Where did you get the NORA & NORMAN name?---Trying to remember if they had a name last year!!---I remember I referred to the EAGLETS as the 'REBELS'---a southern thing!---
WANDA---Do you all have much FOG?--
It's so FOGGY here---CHRISSY WOULD FEEL AT HOME!! ho!
Our ADORABLE PANDA is climbing a tree & hanging upside down!!----The 'LITTLE PRINCE' is such a delight!!-----MOMA MEI is sleeping on the stone!!---
FEEDING TIME at TESORO!!----Notice the 'hanging moss' is still there!----thought maybe they were going to put it down in the nest!
Norma, no fog here. It is bright and sunny, just like you!
Black Birds----CROWS?--- at PA site!!---ground is snow covered!!
OOH WANDA---You are so FUNNY!!--Just heard 'Ch. 7' ---referred to this stuff as "freezing fog"---have never heard that---temp still at 27°!!!
Time for me to get ready for church.
THERE ARE DREAMERS AND THERE ARE PLANNERS; THE PLANNERS MAKE THEIR DREAMS COME TRUE...HAVE A BLESSED DAY.
