GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!---CONGRATS! IRIS our #1 EAGLE MOMMA TODAY & EVERY DAY!!----AGREE with you this a.m.---"Prayers for all this morning and that includes Liberty and Belle!"
Good morning everyone. Dogs and I just got back from our slippery ride across the street for coffee and dog treats. I think we might be doing our last really cold day today but I am afraid to say so for sure.
Hope the day goes well for all, and whatever storms in your life that they pass by quickly.
Normabyrd, it is Mattie and her brother, Justin. They finally went back to school today (THANK GOD) and are feeling much better. No snow here. Still have a winter weather advisory for freezing rain until noon.
Hello to all great eagle-watchers. The weather here has gone down hill,we have freezeing drizzle at this moment and that makes driving bad.I didn't get a chance to check on my eagles yesterday,i had to get my truck serviced.I will check on them today after work. All take care and drive safe. Indiana Nesting Eagles----Dave
MORNIN--INDIANA DAVE!!---The same weather has been forecast for our area----Every one is just waiting for the sleet & rain!!----We received some more SNOW last night!!--DRIVE CAREFULLY!!
Good morning All! I made it in to work on time today. Just slushy roads here in Ranson, WV. I'm trying to get everyone seen early so I can leave early.
MORNIN' DANELLE!!---So what kind of cake did you bake last night?---ho!----Pray we don't get freezing stuff before you get home!!!---ENJOY the day & keep good thoughts for our 'ROYAL FAMILY'!!!
Full house- hello Iris, Wanda, Norma, Jim, Bird Girl, Sharon, Paula, vatray, Danielle,Dave, john boy... oops scratch that last one..been watching the news, major 4 alarm fire in Boonsboro, destroyed several buildings on main street.
It's about 20 minutes away, Norma, daughter goes to school in that town. They have been having difficulty getting it under control. This mornings visit to the Norfolk nest by original pair. http://www.hostingphpbb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1937&mforum=raptors#1937
We saw 6 or 7 firetrucks and a "Herd" of firefighters near the 7-11 on Shepherdstown Rd. last evening when we came home. Haven't seen the paper yet this morning, so I don't know what it was. I guess I need to go check it out.
MORNIN' AGAIN WANDA!!---That's WONDERFUL NEWS MEGAN!!-----Over on LISA'S SITE---She says 'EAGLES mate for life--WILL DIVORCE--if they have not been productive as a couple----or an EAGLE is driven away by an AGGRESSIVE BIRD!'--That's the jest of what she said!!-----She also has pics taken when they are mating in mid-air & are touching----TOO BEAUTIFUL FOR WORDS!!---
AWWWWW!---DANELLE---That's hard to believe!!---Did you tell him there is a whole "herd" of women wanting to marry a man that bakes a cake for them!!!----TOO FUNNY!
Good Morning - I said that earlier & then realized I was on the wrong thread. I had left the pc on all night so that I could quickly check out the nest If I got up. Megan - the new library in Boonsboro is up & running - right? Meaning maybe the downtown one was vacant.
Here is the Youtube video of Mom & Dad in the Norfolk nest.. Any audio was nor intentionally picked up from Maine ... Original Mom/Dad at NBG Nest 2/22
From Maine forum by CCB Researcher....(I think he is a zoomer or NBG person)
The original pair are back together!! This is not as was noted on the blog the new female (known by some as 'that other woman'). It is raining here this morning making the head feathers appear dark. This is the original pairing. Love appears to have rebloomed at Norfolk Botanical Garden. Time will tell.
After all this 'Mother Nature foolishness', I feel remorse that the 2 eggs are past history. However, IT IS WHAT IT IS Right Mits? Keep your ears opened to see if the biologist feel another clutch could be from this original pair. That's a lot of work for Mom! Thanks vatray for the heads up about the info coming out on the eggs.
OH MEGAN Now that is sad news! The new library building looked finished when I passed it last time. Keep us updated as you find out things. Boosnboro is like Main Street USA - everything is right there. Oops! I bet Suzanne's hair shop is in that area.
I looked at your town cam last night & didn't think I saw snow, Sharon. One way to tell is how fast the traffic is going - like zoom there went another one! lol
Yes Paula on the Maine Forum under Norfolk B.G. the researcher has clarified for those writing about Norfolk. The pair that has been in and around the new nest is the original resident female and male.
PAULA-!!!--MEGAN saw the originals earlier the a.m. & has pic---but I couldn't bring it up!!---IF YOU READ EARLIER---VARTRAY & I both watched this 'SASSY BUSHY-TAIL SQUIRREL'---weave his way around the nest---THEN this BRAVE SOUL climbed up to the top & went down in!!---WISH we had a pic!----SO VERY COOL!!
BOONSBORO, MD - A fire that damaged seven buildings in Boonsboro Friday morning, including town hall, started in an historic building owned by romance writer Nora Roberts, firefighters say.
The fire started around 8 a.m. at the corner of St. Paul and N. Main. Roberts' was planning to turn the building into a bed-and-breakfast, residents say.
Roberts is not believed to be in town, but her husband, who runs her bookstore, says he is devastated.
The fire quickly spread to seven neighboring buildings. Town officials scrambled to remove historical and public documents from Town Hall.
Firefighters do not think anyone was injured in the fire, but they are still searching the damage.
Firefighters reported the fire under control at 10:51 a.m.
LISA also has a nice write up of the NORFOLK EAGLES too!----BEAUTIFUL--BEAUTIFUL pics of EAGLES doing the mating dance in mid-air!!!---AWESOME!!!---HONESTLY!!
I have only been in BOONSBORO once---back in the 80s LISA & FRIENDS took their MOTHERS there to eat lunch!!---Can't remember the name of the restaurant--food was very good!!---
HELEN---I bet you will miss your sisters----not talking about the food--ho!--but the companionship!!-----THAT'S THE BEST THING IN THIS WORLD!!!!----you might miss the cooking some!! ho!---DON'T YOU OVER DO!!!----ya hear now?
yes, Norma, I will miss them, hubby is supposed to be back in town late tonight....I definitely will not over-do, have at least 4 to 6 weeks more of recuperating til things get back to normal.
It's ok Megan - my cane is in my corner next to my computer..... Don't know where Wanda & Iris have theirs'. I know Norma can fight her own battles - BUT we are there if she needs us!
Paula - Boonsboro coverage with those pics really shows it all. Thanks for finding them for us to see.
Good morning, everyone. Megan, that fire is awful, I hope they contain it soon. Mits, take care, know you will miss your sisters. Norma, I won't ever question you, if it means the cane!! The weather doesn't look too bad yet, let's hope that holds out.
MEGAN---I just saw the pics on Ch. 7----That is so very sad---Hope that can be rebuilt!!!---That is so devastating!!! I am sure it looks worse to you all!!
Hi Deb - our nest looks beautiful compared to what I thought it was going to look like! Hoping the freezing rain/ice won't be so severe. Did you get your Moon shots up yet?
On the NBG site - they do have 10 pics on the newest slideshow. "Original pair together again"
Now all we need is for it to stay that way & get through Maine's soap opera! I am so thankful that the behavior missed our WV nest & hope that Barton's Cove doesn't contact it!
Yes, Norma, it was fun to see the birds so close up. The gyrfalcon was beautiful, I had never seen one before, the screech owl was cute. Of course the black vulture was ugly, but the way it hops around, you had to like it. The finale was the eagle and it was so nice to be that close to it. I am just now looking at my pictures.
Hey everyone. Just thought I would check in before venturing outside to see if there is any ice removal to be done. Cars are driving by and Joey's car has a little snow on it so I am hoping it isn't bad.
How awful about Boonsboro? I saw it in the Herald Mail and NBC25.
Hope everybody is staying warm. I am going out to see what needs to be done. YIPPEE
MITS If you have finished your lunch - it is time for your panda nap! Your sisters may be gone - BUT your buddies are here to take care of you!! ((Hugs))
I loaded my moon shots, but that is about it. I didn't have time to do anything with them yesterday. I will get to them sometime. Right now, though, I want to do the Eagle Awareness Day shots.
haven't done lunch yet, Jo, but will eat around 1, and then a panda lie down for awile, afraid if I nap will not sleep tonight, sister just called they are back in Baltimore, said it was sleeting the whole way going north, and they have more ice there than here.
The article from the Herald-Mail give a lot of details. Sorry if someboyd already posted it. It is too long to post the whole thing here. Here is the link www.herald-mail.com
I keep my Eagle Cane in the Motor Home to keep away Evil Spirits. Gene finished it with something that will protect it and made it pretty. That's one of my prized posessions.
The building that was destroyed in Boonboro, belongs to the Author, Nora Roberts. I got a few of her books at a Thrift Store for my mother and she says "That woman has a dirty mind!". LOL
COSTUME LADY AND NORMA-My husband is a jewel. Actually, he does most of the cooking. He just loves to do it, and I don't mind! :) The cake was a 2 layer white cake with icing on top. I'm not a very fancy cake eater. After all, I only eat it for the icing! :)
Norma, I am working on my pictures now. It is taking me longer, because this is different than how I did it on my other computer. They had mice, rats and a quail to feed the birds. The gyrfalcon got the quail.
Good morning everyone, nice to see the Original pair back together, shame on the eggs but it is what it is, maybe they will have a new clutch.
Mits glad to see you here, hope you are doing well.
Megan nice shot of the eclipsed moon, wasn't that a a sight. We are in times of discovering our true self, what we have been working for the past few years will reflect on who we have become. Moving away from the past and bringing new beginnings.
It didn't look anything like the one last night, but there are so many different versions of them that I am sure he is right. Mystery solved. I am sure that Lisa will post something, too.
THANKS PAULA!!---That must of have been taken this a.m.----Isn't he a "COOL LITTLE DEVIL"---ho!!----Sat right inside the nest!!!--I first thought it was a little bird!!
Wasn't it Norma? I really enjoyed that the weather was kind to us with clearing the skies so we could witness it since there wont be another till 2010.
Is there going to be a trip to the nest this spring? I am looking forward to seeing everyone before we move this summer.
That article is interesting Megan. The Herald said Town Hall and the Library weren't involved. I wonder which is true. I certainly hope the Herald Mail is right for the sake of the town of Boonsboro. Guess we will have to wait and see.
Wanda we couldn't have a get together without you and the Capt. That would mean no Poop Shooters LOL. I think April or May would be good. Still too unpredictable in March.
April or May works best for us too. March is such a busy month, and it statrs with Tori turning 14 on the 1st, I can't believe she is officially taller then me at almost 5'7.
I'm new to this site. I've located the nest on the map of the campus. My question is.... Are we allowed in the campus to look at the nest or are we stuck on the outside to watch on the web cam? Is there any way to catch a glimpse from the C & O Canal on the MD side? It's a short walk for me.

I love driving thru Boonesboro......:(:(:( sisters just left, going to miss them.
When they ZOOM IN on VA NEST---Watch for the squirrel that is down in the bottom of the nest!!
Norma, I just looked at Lisa's info, and it's a little behind the latest news.
I wonder if the Norfolk experts know if Mom drove the intruder out, or if she just wandered off...perhaps to Disney World with some other teens.
I hope Mom and Dad are back together permanently and they are better able to defend against takeover attempts.....
Seeing them together today, I convinced definitely that it was Dad at the nest yesterday morning.

WHAT IS ON BWO NEST????????
IS THAT AN OSPREY AT BWO?????
We always knew it as the old Boone hotel or saloon, apparently when it first opened in the 1700's it was called the Eagle Hotel.
Looks like some type of hawk, MIts maybe.. Dana, good one...
think you are correct Megan....we have been watching two differnt types of hawks in my backyard the last 2 weeks,.
Picture is so blurry, hard to tell exactly what kind, but looks like a hawk to me.
they have dropped our WINTER STORM WATCH to an ADVISORY now til 10:p.m.
I took a little "panda nap"...
Quick, check ZZ in the tree in close-up.

Snowing at Maine
I did check the Maine site, and apparently they haven't seen any intruders this morning...
Belle is looking in very good condition with the snow... no danger here.
Good, clear pictures at Kent.. no eagles and no view of the nest itself! I hope they get that cam #3 fixed and focused on the action area soon.

Norma, I am working on my pictures now. It is taking me longer, because this is different than how I did it on my other computer. They had mice, rats and a quail to feed the birds. The gyrfalcon got the quail.
Hi, Megan, BWO does look more like a hawk now that I see its profile, but I'm not sure what kind yet.
[:~)]
Jim
Visitor on BWO platform took off.
I think he knew we were about to ID him! lol
In my bird book my two votes were going to be for Northern Harrier or Broad-winged hawk, but don't know if you have broad-winged hawks there.
raptor expert says red tail hawk, I asked him to look.
Broad-winged hawks winter down south, so probably not that.
Good morning everyone, nice to see the Original pair back together, shame on the eggs but it is what it is, maybe they will have a new clutch.

BOy, snow is really coming down there, Dana.
HEY ROBYN!!---We have missed you--I thought the ECLIPSE was so exciting!!----Just AWESOME!!
Yep Norma, saw it...unbelievable..envious of hubby that can cook.. probably best that my hubby just stays out of the kitchen tho.
Yes it is Megan and the one eagle is still sitting on that limb.
ME NEST is AWESOME-- with the snow flying & the wind blowing!!---Those MAINE EAGLES really have rough weather most of the time!!
Wasn't it Norma? I really enjoyed that the weather was kind to us with clearing the skies so we could witness it since there wont be another till 2010.
Is there going to be a trip to the nest this spring? I am looking forward to seeing everyone before we move this summer.
Thanks JIM---When I first looked in---I thought she looked like a bald headed man!!!----Oh no!---'BIG BUTTE'-- Wish they could get some light!!!
That article is interesting Megan. The Herald said Town Hall and the Library weren't involved. I wonder which is true. I certainly hope the Herald Mail is right for the sake of the town of Boonsboro. Guess we will have to wait and see.
ROBYN---I agree---I hope we can get together too!!----Always such FUN!!!
PLEASE, PLEASE wait til we get back from our trip. I will bring a Peanut butter cake baked by my Mom!
Wanda we couldn't have a get together without you and the Capt. That would mean no Poop Shooters LOL. I think April or May would be good. Still too unpredictable in March.
FOR PEANUT BUTTER CAKE!!!!----WANDA---you can name the date!! ho!
Did somebody say CAKE!!! :)
April or May works best for us too. March is such a busy month, and it statrs with Tori turning 14 on the 1st, I can't believe she is officially taller then me at almost 5'7.
I vote for MAY - we will be back in PA by then...if the creek don't rise!
Wanda, ask Gene what he put on your cane...I'll ask Dean to do mine for me. The wood is a bit soft and looks like it needs some protection.
Glad to hear the storm is bypassing our nest! Great news.
well, I think I am going to head home. Panda nap sounds good....and maybe a piece of cake too! ;)
Have a nice weekend, Danelle
Thanks MITS!
They seem to be getting rained on at BW. Female is tenting on BWE and the male is looking miserable trying to hang on to the BWO nest...
Actually, our eagles (Lib now?) look like they're tenting a little too.

Jim
The squirrel at VA is on a major limb next to the nest scratching and grooming himself. If he gets unlucky, he could be feeding eagles soon.

Jim
Guess I'd better shut this down for a while and concentrate on the more mundane...

For those who are interested the Herald Mail now has a slideshow of pictures from the fire. A couple are of Nora Roberts husband.
www.herald-mail.com
NBC25 has interviews with Nora Robers' son and husband also.
Everybody must be taking a Panda nap.
Steve has a new thread with an experts view on the fighting/mate stealing among local eagles.
Like Jill said NEW THREAD
I'm new to this site. I've located the nest on the map of the campus. My question is.... Are we allowed in the campus to look at the nest or are we stuck on the outside to watch on the web cam? Is there any way to catch a glimpse from the C & O Canal on the MD side? It's a short walk for me.
