PM picture, off the egg for a moment.
More info from the Delaware Valley Raptor Center:
Bald eagles usually lay two eggs, and both eaglets usually survive into adolescence. They help to keep the nest hygienic as they grow older by defecating over the rim. The central hollow that the adults created by wriggling their bodies from side to side begins to fill up with prey remains, pellets ejected by the young, and with green sprigs brought more or less constantly to the nest site by the adults. Some researchers theorized that the greenery, some of which contains natural insecticides, may help keep the nest free of insect pests. I also think the adults are strongly attracted to greenery as part of their nesting/breeding cycle, and have a strong need to handle them during this period. The adult birds may also snap off twigs from the top of the nest tree in order to get a better view of their surroundings.

Thanks Steve.
I guess you know our cam has been acting up??
Thanks Steven for the new thread. Sharon thank you for the heads up.
Wanda I expect from their egg laying habits. That we will atleast have 2 eggs and possibly 3. What you have to remember is "we don't know when the 1st egg was layed".
The cam issues could be related to lots of traffic. We've asked for the statistics for today and yesterday to see.
Okay, Steven, so the solution would be to shut down NCTC Campus until after the eaglets fledge! :)
Sharon, I haven't been watching very much after lunch, is it still acting up? Hope I didn't holler before I was hurt.
I mean internet traffic to the webcam site ;>)
The male is presently perched about 20 feet up the tree.
Thank you Steven for the information. Although I don't understand it.
Why not get the live feed and audio going now PLEASE
Could be any day. Keith is working with the folks in Wheeling to get it rolling. I did hear from one person who said they were able to get the feed yesterday, but that must have been a test run...
Belle in the nest...eating?
Still 1 egg.
Steve, I'll bet we have a
Gazillion people watching!
Heading back towards the egg
Just a little FYI:
During incubation, the male bald eagle regularly brings green sprigs of conifer branches to the nest. Why he does this, no one knows, but it could be for deodorizing the nest or possibly providing shade for the eaglets.
Kewl- glad to hear Lib is nearby!
Thank you!
Okay, then we need to restrict access to just the Eaglet Momsters and NCTC. :) I bet our membership would grow then! :)
I checked the live feed the other day, but no luck.
That is really interesting Sharon.
Hey, Sharon, if that would help us, I am all for it!
Yes, we know Belle can lay them 4 days apart for sure!
Oh, 4 days apart is OK? Glad to know that Paula.
I thought maybe the eggs turned into pumpkins if they weren't layed within 2 days of each other. LOL
hi everyone! Just checking in! Thanks Steve for the new thread.
Oh, by the way, I was joking about restricting access. I love it with new people get to join in and experience the finest mother nature has to offer!
Little egg is all by itself!
Thanks so much for the update on Helen Jo, will keep praying for quick healing and recovery.
Anything from Nilla about her sister? I might have missed it - went to the eye doctor this afternoon.
brouight this over from the other thread... missed this one
Forgot to check the little box, that's the only way I can keep up with you guys.....Grin
I have returned - I am not surprised anymore when I tune into our cam and see an EAGLE! Wanda - I better not see any pumpkin!!! lol
Thanks Steve for coming in here with us. We need all the info we can get.
News to us like ..The male is 20 ft up in the tree!!! GOOD TO KNOW!!!
The KINKLINGS are sinfully delicious!
Danelle, did you tell us how your hip is? If you did, I missed it. Been thinking about you.
Well, it looks like Belle just brought in a big stick and put it across Lib's back. He didn't like it and got up. Or vice versa, don't know which did what but that is what was done! :)
Both there!
Mercy, I am lost again, it would help if I could see.... Dialated eyes don't work so good on the computer...
Well, Belle just left.
Update on HELEN aka MITS
Ceil just let me know by email that Mits is in her room now. She won't know until later the Room # & she will let us know.
Just got back from the dentist (no pain today)!!---Our EAGLE is off the nest!!----Still 1 egg!---Must catch up!!!
So it looks like Belle ate and ran?
Lib is just going to sit there and look at that egg as if it was an alien again. I would hope that if it were raining or snowing, her would be doing his duty. Belle would flap him silly!
So I wonder what Lib is going to do?
Just stand there & look at the egg
I think he is looking up into the tree where Belle probably went..
He is a very good Daddy Eagle...You newbies just wait until you see Lib gently feed the young ones... It will melt your heart!
We watched on the live feed as the female flew out. She headed up to the male and we could hear one of them chattering off the cam the microphone. The female then headed out and the male went down to the nest a minute or two later. It is very warm now (60s?) and thus they seem to be off the egg more right now.
How about that for an Incubator pose.
Iris, no word yet from Nilla.
Wanda - I had forgotten that it was Danelle who slipped on the ice - right?
TOMORROW is when Sandra will head home!!! Woo Hoo!!
STEVEN CHASE You & others at FWS/NCTC HEARD what?
You lucky ducks..... Tomorrow
will you let the guard know that it
is ok for Mema Jo to come on the grounds!!!
Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
Keep that egg a Rollin'
Go Lib Go
Thanks Steven! Costume lady, your thoughts are greatly appreciated. I am still healing. I haven't slept well since it's happened because of the pain. I also discovered that I cut my ankle on the ice, and that is healing as well. If the pain persists, I will get an x-ray. But as of now, I think I just bruised my muscles. As a therapist, I know I am the most stubborn about getting tests such as x-rays done!
Have to take the baby boy to work. You all keep good notes. Will BBIALW!
Lone deer on the wildlife cam in PA
& No Snow Is On The Ground
Is that still Lib in the nest..
I was looking at Atlanta Panda Cam
We really are due another egg today..
Looks like Lib is munching on a fish...
We need Belle back - we want more eggs! (At least 1 more!)
Well all, it's time for me to head home. Hope to stop in sometime during the evening. Keep me posted!
Love,
Danelle
P.S. Get ready for Sandy's homecoming tomorrow! :)
Steve - you heard what?
Man you are teasing the heck out of us. I can't wait to hear them.
Hey - did you know that Steve just confirmed that we have been telling them apart correctly!
I did receive an email from
Megan our Floral Girl:
I've been off line for days, still waiting for the cable company, my computer won't connect at all. Sneaking a try on Mad's computer. Hope all is well with you. Hope to talk to you soon. Thanks for keeping me in the loop.
Actually my refresh has been working better this afternoon....
Good Daddy Lib is turning the egg
Looks as though Lib put the piece of pine nearer the egg cup....
Just over at the KENT FORUM

Little chick in Tesoro is all over the nest. hee hee what a cutie
Was over on the ME forum Here is a link for a Great Horned Owl nesting with an egg in Bakersfield CA
www.cs.csubak.edu/owlcam/camera.php
See what you can do with the link.....
Paula, I was thinking about Steven teasing us too -- cruel and unusual punishment. Maybe we should make signs and march on NCTC - WE WANT THE LIVE FEED, GOTTA HAVE THE LIVE FEED!
Okay, so who is on the nest now?

“Egg #2”
The Eagles at the Norfolk Botanical Garden have a second egg. The second egg was laid close to dusk on Monday February 4th, two days after the first egg was laid. While we we not able to actually get a glimpse of this egg (the nest bowl is fairly deep) the female's posture and behavior were consistent with egg laying.
This message was posted on the VDGIF page at Norfolk. What we watched last night was the second egg. There is more news on the page.
Lib looks like Belle is on her way!
Lib just flew off.
And there she is!
Sorry guys -- I may have sent some traffic your way with a post on our cam page about your egg. :-)
Now we need her to get serious about a second egg.
That's ok, Lisa, did you see live feed is almost ready?? Is Lady BW getting more help from the male? It doesn't seem like you ever see him there.
That is all good Lisa. The more, the merrier!
Deer on the PA cam.
Yes, I think the male has been on the eggs a good bit. Sometimes it's hard to tell which adult is on the nest, but I think dad has been helping.
I just wish we'd see him bringing more food to the nest.
Thanks, for the information. I am glad he is there. Hopefully he will get better at food deliveries before the eggs hatch.
It is hard to tell, even here where some of the members know so much about these two eagles.
It is hard to believe that if we are successful with out hatchling/s this year, that this built up nest will look like a dirt floor by the time they get through with it.
Thanks Deb for the NBG Update
Woo Hoo!
Now it is our turn....
..#2 where are you?
Lisa Your mentioning us on your
eagle page made us feel special.
Lisa
You know all those cars that cause
your cam to have static? Guess where
they all came from....... lol
Lisa you just keep on sharing about our site. Thank you for doing so ( : You aren't causing any problems. You are helping us...ty
haha...so we share traffic. :-)
I enjoy publicizing this cam and the Norfolk cam. The three of us represent the Mid-Atlantic eagles. We stick together. :-)
LisaI can remember last season the male eagle there brought in so many fish. They were laying in the nest....Is this the same male??
Jo, not only do we feel special, we are special. We are so full of joy and love, compassion and balogny!
Because we don't band our birds, we can never know for sure if it's the same male or female.
But the fact that this father wasn't bringing in food during the egg laying -- like our father did in the past -- made us wonder if it was a different male.
I mean in the past, sometimes our male would have two fish and a duck in the nest at the same time. And he always had food there as the eggs arrived.
Boy Wanda, you calls 'em as you sees 'em, huh? Full of baloney for sure!
Oh, Lisa, that sounds like my Husband.
Sorry, Sharon, I have been running up and down steps all afternoon doing wash, and I am getting tired. I get silly when I am tired. I promise to behave myself.
Don't apologize Wanda. I love silly! We all need to laugh!
Just wanted to ask Lisa because I thought it was a different one. Due to "his inability of brining in the food". Cause last year there sure was plenty of food in that nest.
Thank you, Sharon. I feel better now.
Belle is standing up in the nest, could it be time??
You can see her leg.
I too saw the white object but with these two, it is hard to tell. Could have been a piece of food or something but who knows.
Okay, I have to go out until about 9. You all keep good notes and if you see another egg, please get good pics of it. Have a nice evening!
Okay, I have been gone all day, skimmed the posts and this is what I saw:
1-Helen is out of surgery and doing good
2-Nilla's sister was in surgery, no other word
3-No new egg
4-Steve is mean.
Did I miss anything?
Just kidding Steve, we all love you.
Nice link on the front page, Steve.
Is that still Belle in the nest...eagle is up...yes looks like her...glowing eye.
You have it all, Jill. Belle just moved for the first time in a long time.
LOL, Jill - not mean, just a tease!
We love you Steve!
Looks like she is in prime egg laying position, Deb.
That's what I said. She has been like this for quite a while.
I have a picture of her from when she first stood up, this position is just new when you came on.
I didn't tell you but I did go out with hubby & got dinner. I have returned.
Sounds like we are still waiting on
EGG #2...........
Lisa - I agree - we need to stick together! Thanks for the plug on your page! The more, the merrier!
Cam has actually been working better today, I think.
Thanks Deb for posting the Norfolk update! That is what we saw last night!
What time was that, Deb?
She is right over the egg cup
The first picture I took was at 6:20 so I could blow it up to see if she was standing. Held that position until about 7:35 with very little movement, just head turning.
Ok, I see your post now...about 6:28 or so...has she been there that long? Standing up?
AWhere did she go?
WHERE'S THE BIRD
WHERE'S THE BIRD????????
Gone, I don't see a second egg.
Darn light, can't tell if those are two eggs or debris.
I can't see the original egg, much less any second egg, if there is one - think she covered it up?
I THINK SOMEONE
LOST OUR BIRD :(
I'll send the picture and see what you think.
Yea, the night light is a tad too bright to tell
Although we could see the egg last night pretty good
I wouldn't think she would leave the nest if she had just laid an egg, so I guess there is still one. I can't see that one now. I see two white marble-like objects, but not in the cup area.
She had to cover the egg(s)
Could not have flown with the egg(s) tucked under her wing.......
This is going to be a good
"Don't let you eyes off the cam"
evening.........
Gotta grab a plate of food...brb
I think they are covered - so much fluff in the nest.
Last night the egg was very visible & quite white!
The egg has to be under the grassy stuff.
Not even a clue she was leaving...
The egg is there. See where the bright light shines in the nest? Then there is a dark place in the shiny spot. Go straight out from the dark spot heading towards 12 o'clock position. There is the "egg".
I will say that Kent cams certainly are picture perfect...so very clear.
Anxious for them to get Cam 3 hooked up to the server.
Trying my best to get pic of the Ms Barn Owl's 2nd egg......
Our birds are still AWOL..up the tree I hope!!
We're also watching wondering what's up...
I sent the picture I first took of her at 6:20.
I hope you're right, Dana!
They certainly know how to keep us guessing...
Steve Let us know whenever
you know!
Just have never seen this behavior
However, we've never watched after
dark before.
Steven do you see the egg???
Glad you are watching too, Steve, so you won't think we are crazy when we report to you!
I took at picture an enlarged it that is how I am seeing the egg.
Question: How are we certain that
the picture isn't frozen & that
Belle or Lib is really down in the
nest..........
We thought last evening it was looping.....
Steve If you are watching
the live feed - can you tell it isn't looping?
10 is in PH. Dogs need out, BRB.
The cam is updating...
The changes in each picture are very subtle...I just took a series of empty nest pics...and then viewed them one right after another...you can see changes in each pic then
Jo - We watched at night for the last 2 years....
Eagle at norfolk is snoozing
Yep we did .... remember "spidey" Jo...he would get on the cam and we would he him whitish.
NBG is up
I couldn't tell anything in your pic, Deb.
When I zoomed in, I thought I could see her leg.
As far as I can tell the cam is live. I checked with NCTC and they looked at the live feed. The nest is currently unoccupied...I am concerned.
I just checked in!!----Do you suppose she is off the nest because as STEVEN mentioned earlier-----the WEATHER!---It is a warm night!!!---temp here still 60s---what is it there??
Nest is still MT
Comment: Jo - We watched at night for the last 2 years....
I remember watching Spidey and every night the Eagle Spirits would surround our Nest. Jim would always come in late & would convince us what we should be seeing in the nest..
We were not able to see much of anything in the nest after hours. Or is it that I
have the CRS syndrone.....?
CRS, Jo :):)
NEST STILL MT!!
Hey everyone. Just got home, checked the cam, and skimmed over the posts. Can someone please tell me if it's normal behavior for eagles to leave their egg(s) for such an extended period of time, especially at night! Seems a little odd to me!
WHAT'S CRS?
I guess my question has been answered. Should have read a little lower. Everyone else seems concerned as well!!
Mike - this is some behavior we haven't seen at night before...although they could be right above the nest...Lib was off the egg for a period of time last night also. It is not unusual for them to be off the egg - it happens more with the first one, then when there are 2 or more eggs in the nest.
This is my first year to watch, Mike, but if Steve is worried, then I am worried.
Norma - You have mail :):)
Norma my love you fill in the blank:
Can't Remember S____
DEB--I have never seen him worried before either!!----
WOW temp at nest is 51°
You have Mail Norma
Thanks Paula and Deb!
It's warmer than it was last night when Lib was off the egg....gonna go back and see how long he was off it.
It is 51° near the nest. No rain right now.
Sorry, Paula. Didn't see your post.
Last night was 2 1/2 hours!
He stood up and turned it at 9:30, stood over it awhile...then was on the back of the nest until midnight.
Guess Belle is taking her break out of the nest tonight.
Glad you confirmed it Wanda! Are you looking at your own thermometer?
IRIS!!---I have led a sheltered life!! ho!
Early super tuesday results are in...
PAULA!---I have been watching the elections too & fixing DINNER now!!
Okay, I don't like what I am seeing.

Thank you Mema Jo for the info on Helen.
Thanks JO for giving us the info on HELEN!!---Bless her heart!!---I hope she is feeling some better~~
I hope she is still knocked out & feeling no pain!
I'll keep you posted.......
Sharon = at least the egg is covered!
Thanks for the update on Mits!
Okay, so we think the egg is still in there, right?
My heart just aches with these prospects.
Zoomed in and back out at VA - trying to see the eggs
As far as we know, Sharon.
Norfolk eagle has been standing over the eggs for a long period of time tonight also...since....8:26 - over an hour
Maybe they know cold weather is coming and they are taking a break now so it won't be so bad this weekend when they have to sit for hours and hours because it is too cold to leave. Remember they sense what the weather will bring. There is also the chance of thunderstorms from now til late tomorrow, maybe they are preparing for that.
I think it's the warm temps...
Sharon Paula went back to last night when Lib was off the egg..
Last night was 2 1/2 hours!
He stood up and turned it at 9:30, stood over it awhile...then was on the back of the nest until midnight.
Guess Belle is taking her break out of the nest tonight.
Steve is also watching and making comments on the blog. He said he is concerned.
If Norfolk is doing the same thing, it is probably the weather. BW seems to be tenting at times and just sitting on the eggs at others. Actually warmer at BW than NCTC right now but not by much. Didn't check temp at Norfolk.
That is when I got scared, when Steven said he was concerned!
63 and clear at Norfolk.
Do you all think we should 'GROUND'
both BELLE & LIBERTY!!!
Need to leave for an hour...
Hopefully by the time I return you will have found at least One of Our
Eagles and set him/her right down into the egg cup..... Clip his/her wings if you need to in order to keep him/her there!!!
Yeah Norma!
Send them to their nest! lol
With out FISH!!
You know, they are sitting just out of sight with their laptops reading all our comments and laughing at us, don't you?
Okay, I am going to bed now. I pray I wake up to an occupied nest in the morning. Good night all.
well I don't think the cam is updating. Might not be a popular thought but I do not see any change at all as I watch it very very closely for several minutes. Whats even more strange is the cam has not been working perfectly with no black screen or half black with occasional colors etc yet this week. So for it to suddenly appear to be perfect with no black or colors on a refresh, and no eagles either doesn't quite fit
I think its the cam that is stuck. JMHO
I sure hope you are right, otherwise this is not good.
Cam is stil updating...I think they are on the laptop laughing at us!
There goes a half black screen.
Paula, I think that is just the timer/clock that is updating. I compared a picture I took an hour ago with one now and they are identical!!!
I wonder if that means the cam is still working.
Oh hmm missed the half black screen
I must go back to focusing closely
I took 6 pics in a row and ran them through my viewer - you can see changes in each one...cam is still updating...
I have only gotten a few black screens this evening...cam has been working much better since about mid afternoon...refreshes working well also.
