OK, the cam is down--has to do with all of the icing and the transmitter. None of the tech guys are here today, so there's a chance that the cam may be down until Monday morning. We still have 7-10 days before eggs, we're figuring, so don't worry.
I'm apologize for the outage.

Oh, my goodness, STEVE. We are not going to be happy campers. But, if there is no one there to fix it, there isn't much we can do but Grin and Bare it.
THANKS STEVE FOR UPDATING US. HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.
Both eagles in the Maine nest.
One gone already.
What a bummer! But like costume lady said, not much you can do when the people aren't there to fix it.
Hey, Wanda, see if Capt. Eagle will go over and fix it for us! :)
Costume Lady said...
DANELLE, Il Divo puts goose bumps on me when I hear them sing! Love Josh Grobin also. I love to exercise to his music. Makes the time go faster and puts me in a Mello Mood.
ARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!
SHARON, did you get the email that I sent with the strange visitor in the nest?
Well all, it's time for me to head home. Maybe a miracle will happen and the cam will suddenly fix itself once the sun shines tomorrow. If I don't talk to you before Monday, I hope you all have a wonderful and safe weekend.
Sharon, don't ask the Capt. twice to fix the cam. He loves a challenge, and would probably spend the night in jail for trespassing on Govt. property.
Yes I did Wanda. That was too good!
Talk to you and Sandy on Monday, Danelle. Have a nice weekend.
I thought it was so appropriate. A friend of his just sent it while we were checking out the cam.
Going to fix some left-over steak for Supper. Maybe make some stir fry out of it. BBL
Yes, I am crossing my fingers that the cam comes up by itself also....
Sounds like we need to buy the tech guys a 4 wheel drive truck!
Thanks for the update, Steve!
Have a great weekend....
Poor BWE, it must be miserable with all that rain!
Eagle at NBG.
I saw the note on the new thread when I was ready to post my comment... read below. [:~D]
Boy, with my cold and the cool, overcast weather, I'm turning into a Panda. I've been up 2 or 3 times since talking to the early crew on the blog this morning, but I stayed up long enough to eat something, check some cams (ours is frozen or crystallized or something), and then I curled back up for another "long Winter's nap." (What ZZ was doing when I last checked, although she's been more active for more of the morning lately.)
Any news of Belle or eggs or of the condition of the camera?
Jim

well Jim all we know is what Steve posted. At least we know not to stay glued to it every minute any longer as there is no one there ot work on it now til Monday. We could hope wish or pray for osme sunshine and he doesn't think eggs are do for another week. Strange that Belle would have spent the night then. MTBR I guess and we don't know for sure if she spent the whole night but I would say 5am is pretty darn close to the whole night.
Eagle at NBG
Hitting the road, see ya later!
I have returned from errands...
I see the Zoomers are practicing at the NBG nest!
BWE still all wet but warm with 58°
I also see more BLUE :(
Well Steve - It is what it is!
Jim I sure hope maybe it was a practice run for Belle last night.
It is calling for 50° weather at the nest for the weekend.
Something is disturbing the NBG eagle who is in the nest.
Both NBG eagles in nest. Maybe the one was just trying to get the other one down into the nest from a higher branch..... GOOD Don't want anymore
GHOwl commotion........
What is the temp there now MeMa Jo. Wonder if Belle looks like Lady BW?
Shouldn't! The rain (which there was a lot this am hour) has quit.

Looks as though the NBG eagle may spend the night - Want to watch???? lol
Zip for Shepherdstown is 25443
Well, the forecast for Shepherdstown looks to be fairly warm, Glo, Mema Jo, so there's a chance that the camera equipment will thaw out and right itself.
Don't know if someone has to be at the office to restart it though.
Do any of you know?
I guess from earlier years, it could be another week before Belle lays eggs, but they've been laying earlier each year.... The cam will likely be up before a week passes.
Jim
Thanks for the weather link and zip. Yes I do have NO up. They have been there off and on all day. Maybe they are on owl patrol. They are do for their first egg there though as well MTBR
well I hope for a weekend cam surprise for sure but won't count on it happening.
Eagle at NOrfolk - looks like it is eating
That's what I was wondering Jim. Even if it thaws out, it might need a server reboot or something...
Jim I'm a dreamer but I just wish the cam would be up before the weekend ends lol
I thought they always had to Reset
the cam once it was down...
Des Moines? Now that it has solar panels which could be the problem - may they don't need a restart boot.
Guess we will learn all about that in the future.
What better time then to Pay Bills!
BBL
The zoomer must be back at NBG, weird camera happenings.
You can see the eagle in the nest when you go to full screen, I wonder if tonight is the night.
Thanks Steven for bringing us up-to-date even though I don't like the news. It is what it is..... grrrr
Glo Beautiful pictures of the eagles at Quad City. Thank you for posting them.
Norfolk testing out the nest now....zoomed in!
Sandra isn't home just yet so let's get those candles glowing for her trip home!!!
Link to Sandra's Candles
Jo - that is Denver you are thinking of!
It sure is Denver! lol
Thanks! I was in IOWA - way off course!
Question
Was our cam picture frozen with the eagle's head NOT tucked under the wing?
I don't know, Jo. I didn't see any mention when I was reading the blog from this morning...but in the pic, she is up.
Ooops, sorry, misread that. Yes, she was standing up!
Deb - At Norfolk - did she eat and then pick around and then lay down? I saw her eating, then I came back and she was settling into the nest.
Could also be her test run...
Maine forum is suggesting NO already has an egg and that the Owl has also paid Mom a quick visit on the nest. Not for sure and i haven't seen a ny confirmation. Nothing on WVEC at the moment that I could find but thought I would give you a heads up on what I jsut read since well Belle is kind of inthe "hold" mode as far as we are concerend
When I looked she was facing the camera, got up and moved to where she is now.
I swear it looks like she has an egg at VA - did ya'll just see her?
awww check this out
Norfolk egg and owl video
I am waiting in their chat room to see if DGIF logs in.
Looks like it from the video...I had to log out of WV chat...keeps freezing up my computer...I'll check back in periodically to see if anyone else is there...no one was there a couple of minutes ago.
Well, just returned from all my errands today....figured the cam was gonna be down, guess if you get ice on solar panels, it ain't gonna work...#$%#, thanks Paula, for sitting in the chat room...got to go see about dinner, too late for me to get to store, maybe we will order pizza:):)
ok, so you are not sitting in chat room, BBl
wow, hubby did order pizza, there's the doorbell, what a guy:)
Chat room is MT ....was gonna do pizza myself, until I remembered I had some oysters in the frig...YUM!
What a guy is right! :):)
What Drama!
Better then any tv program.
The video is awesome!! That #&*#% OWL
better get lost.... Video says around 6:30 the egg was laid..That's about the time, Glo that we were discussing the weather situation in Shepherdstown.
My bills can wait - I need to see this happening.
Gotta feed the puppy dogs, they are bugging the crap outta me!
I went and read at the Maine forum and they think the owl scared the egg out of her. They can see it roll out in the video. I can't, so I will have to watch it again.
I must be blind. I see her white tail, but I don't see an egg roll out and into the nest.
Awesome video...I was watching an seen the eagle in nest and the owl fly up to it. I think the owl and the eagle both got scared. I didn't know though that the owl "scared an egg out". Paula I watched the video and see it...WOW !!!
I went back and read again. They see the egg when she jumps up. Now I will watch it one more time.
I am over in the chat room
I think Paula went to feed the dogs
We all want to know how NBG Video gal knows there is an egg for sure
Do you see an egg pop out? I sure don't. I see the white of her tail. I do think there is probably an egg, but I don't know that I think the owl scared it out of her.
I forgot about watching Kent, have been watching the video. Nothing there now.
Something just got her up again. She spread her wings wide and was looking up into the tree. I wonder where dad is at?
I'm back...dogs were fed, and so am I - man those oysters were good!
Going to Maine to see if they saw what it was.
Last posting there was at 7:57, I will check again in a little bit.
Awesome sight at Norfolk on the video!!
Well, since I was warned in advance, I think I did see the egg roll in the nest near her left foot...
She looked like she was in the act of laying anyway, so the fact that the extra movement she made when the owl landed caused the egg to be ejected is no big deal compared to the fact she has begun her clutch for 2008.
Another big piece of news from the video is that the owl is now aware the nest is being used, and it does not appear to be attempting to take the nest over. That fear will probably not become reality, thank goodness. [:~D]
Jim
Your eyes are better than mine, Jim. Still no official word on the site that there is an egg. Paula and Jo are in the chat room looking for answers.
Snowing on the deer cam.
Hi, Deb,
I'm nearly 100% sure there is an egg at Norfolk...
She checks it briefly before making a second lunge toward where the owl had been and shrieking at it. Then she checks it (and perhaps rolls it with her beak) a couple of times later in the clip before settling on it to warm it at the end.
Anyway, I don't think that owl will be giving this pair any trouble this season.
Jim
Howdy Deb and Jim...still here, everyone just about gone from the chat room...still no official word...
I think there is an egg, too, although when I was in the chat room, it was about 50/50. She gets up every so often and appears to be turning an egg. We probably won't know 100% until daylight.
I thought there was an egg even before I saw the video, so I am in!
Did you watch the video and see an egg roll out, Paula?
Talking to someone in northern NJ in the chat room - they had a MD eaglet placed in one of their nests last year. She doesn't know where in MD it was from
I was just on the Norfolk site, and I saw some stills of GHO visits, but I couldn't find any such videos. Where did you find it?
Jim
Jim - we are talking about the youtube video you already saw.
Deb - I don't know. I would have to watch it again. Originally when I viewed it, I thought maybe she was in the process, but hadn't laid it yet, then went back to laying it later in the video. I'll have to look again.
Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen :)
I hope everyone is doing well.
It looks like the love bug bit me, I am in the process of finding a good realtor and take my next journey in life. Mom is a bit nervous but I never felt as confident as I do today. I am making the move to SC after 2 years of getting to know Dan. I am not around much these days, just sorting thru life and moving forward, school has been sluggish but still on the Deans List.
Tori is doing wonderful, getting taller and more beautiful each day and a brain to boot.I am so proud of her and her future outlook. She has mixed emotions about moving but being a sport about it. Perhaps she will look into Chapel Hill in 3 years :).
I am catching glimpses of cams and will continue, I have been keeping up on the owl episode, hope that ends soon. I haven't had a chance to check Maine but I am sure Mits will keep me up to date with her postings.
I am looking forward to another luncheon so I can see everybody, I do miss ya'll.
Deb, I didn't "see an egg roll out" exactly. I saw what looks like an egg roll near her left foot in her first lunge at the owl. She looks down quickly so as not to step on it, and then she lunges again and shrieks at the departed owl.
I really don't think that owl will be around the nest anymore for this season.
Good video ... considering it's in Infra Red.
Jim
Robyn - I am so happy for you! We will miss your physical presence here, but we will be able to stay in touch through this wonderful medium.
Congratulations, Robyn. I wish you all a happy life together. I, also, hope the house sells quickly for you.
The NJ pair laid eggs on Jan 11. The NJ wildlife said that this is the earliest laying on the east coast!
Thank you Paula, Deb.
Deb it would be nice if it sold quickly, I keep hearing that...Need till June.
OK, I just took another look at the video...
After Mother Eagle listens a while and decides the danger has passed, she reaches down and moves the egg with her beak over to the egg cup. You can actually see the white of part of the egg above the edge of the nest being rolled.
AND the mother has been acting like she's caring for an egg ever since.
Jim
Hey There Robyn
Luncheon??? I thought we were have a B-B-Que in you yard with the pool & all - Now here you are leaving us for the GOOD LIFE. You know I am very happy for you!!
Yes we will have a luncheon before you leave in July!
BBILW
Yes the GOOD LIFE :). closer to mom nd dad too
If I were staying through the summer I would have it here
So we can come and visit you in NC
We will have plenty of room, we found a beautiful home that was just reduced 30k... fingers crossed
ROBYN, THAT IS SO WONDERFUL I really hate to see you and Tori leave the area, but man, this is wonderful news, and wish you all the happiness that you and Tori deserve....Dan is one lucky guy!
By the way, everybody, if you haven't read the Catalina Report this week, you should.
Text, pics and videos.
Jim
Howdy again - had to shut down for a few...poor puter couldn't take all the chat :)
Time to say, GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE, glad your oysters were good, Paula. My Mom used to make great oyster stew...
ROBYN Was just checking the blog and saw your wonderful news! I am soooo happy for you and Tori and now you will be a Tar Heel like me!. Also good to hear that Tori is feeling much better. Dan is a lucky man and I hope he knows it. Wishing you three nothing but the best.
gOOD NIGHT MITS! HELLO JO, PAULA, AND JIM. I would think that after you all were up so late last night, that you would be sleeping now.
I say the egg roll out on the video and she went in and put it back under her. Let's hope the owl got the news that the nest is inhabited and it will leave them alone now. I am so glad that the egg has finally been layed. I was so afraid that the owl would get there first.
Congratulations Robyn. So glad for you. Email with the price of the house. I know a couple of people who may be interested but not quite ready to take the jump. June/July may be perfect for them.
PS: The Camera is up and somebody is in the nest. Can't tell who, camera isn't great but there.
Candy I wonder how close Robyn will be to you??
Never mind, camera is gone again. Maybe I am just losing my mind but I am sure I saw an eagle butt. HUMMMM
Well, I am going to say Hi and Good Night to all, as school and all the excitement between our nest and the NBG nest has worn me out. All have a peaceful and restful night. Tomorrow brings a new day. Maybe our cam will have thawed out by then. :)
Jill the timer is going but that's the frozen pic from today. The cam still turns very BLUE at times
Hi, CANDY and JILL.
Jill, the cam is frozen even though the time is working.
JO I was wondering that myself. I think she said she was around the Jacksonville area and that is way south of me. I am right where the Wright Brothers made their first flight. Every day after school, I come out to look up at the Wright Brothers monument in Kill Devil Hills.
Robyn said she would be just over the NC line into SC. Near Charlotte.
Time is off a bit too. Must be from early evening or morning. Dark. I give up. One time I can actually get on and nothing.
WANDA Charlotte area is a fast growing area in the southwest corner of the state. That is Charlotte/Mecklenberg area and in No. Carolina.
I am calling it a night. Wonder what tomorrow will bring?
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SLEEP TIGHT
If this computer would go faster I would get to bed sooner!!!
Good Night Everyone
Another exciting day has ended
Peaceful dreams & restful sleep to all
The Sun Will Shine Tomorrow
Candy, Dan is 30 min from Charlotte, 15 from Ballantyne. Nice area, heathier for Tori also out in the country.
It is a very fast growing area, and I will find a better job there then here in WV without the 2 plus hour commute to DC.
Jill I would also consider renting if I can keep it till market goes back up. I'll tell you more tomorrow morning :)
Sounds like a win-win all around Robyn. Kind of funny you put all that work into your house, now it's ready for the market!
Good night all, I'm beat from all the good news tonight. See ya in the morning!
GOOD NIGHT, EVERYBODY!!
It's been an interesting day, and tomorrow should be even more stimulating...especially if they can get our camera started again.
Check the candles if you will.
Jim
Jill, you're not losing it.
When you first open it, you often see a scene from last night, but as soon as it refreshes, it goes blue again.
:=)
Jim
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
This is a good morning to sleep in. Our cam is still frozen. Without the possibility of seeing Lib & Belle, eagle watching isn't nearly as interesting, but I did check in on BWE and parent is on the nest, not revealing any eggs, much less a 3rd egg. Another eagle is in the Osprey nest; Lord BW?
Nora and Norman are both in the nest. Nora was standing and possibly rolling her egg; then settled down very carefully in the nest. Sure looks like there must be an egg in there. Glad we will be able to see, for sure, when L & B gets an egg.
I was just reporting on Nora & Norman; that is NORFOLK.
Tesoro; Tess or Oro is feeding the 2 chicks. BIIIIIGGGG appetites.
I couldn't get Cape Coral cam up.
Still nothing on our cam. It is going to warm up today and tomorrow (50's), don't know if that will help or not. If cam needs to be "refreshed" on NCTC's end, there won't be anyone there to do it.
I just read today's forecast for Martinsburg/Shepherdstown area, and it is only going up to 46° here today, but around 50° the next 4 days. YEEEEEESSSS!!
Panda, paceing at National Zoo. Probably waiting on breakfast. I think they need a cleanup crew in there. Little piles everywhere; maybe that is the bathroom area. I guess that is more information than we need this early in the morning. LOL
Good Morning Wanda...I read comments see you haven't see an egg visible at Norfolk NGB yet...
I had see the "owl" come in and scare the eagle but didn't know a egg came rolling out. Then I watched the video. Darn I think it did.
Good news there for Robyn. She sure will be missed. Sure she will stay in contact though.
Eagle just flew into NBG other eagle got up but still don't see an egg. The limb is blocking it if there is one.
Parent that was laying in nest all night. Just flew out. Watching what the other eagle does now.
Parent is staring downward putting its head down into nest. They are NOT focusing cam inward to take a good look. This would be a good time since no eagle is on "if there is an egg". It is moving in the area of an egg with it's talcons close up. Hasn't layed down yet. OK they are moving inward. Wished they would have done that earlier. Still not definate. But eagle just moved something then put its chest on it and laid down. Eagle still restless though.
Other parent flew back in. Don't know what is going on. They do keep staring down into the nest. "Like what is this"?
One eagle flew out again the other is not laying on anything just sitting. I wished I could find the NBG forum.
GOOD MORNING DANA AND EVERYONE Wanda thanks for the reporting this a.m. I have watched the eagle-owl video...JMHO, but I think the egg had already been laid, and the owl startled the eagle, and she jumped. I hope there was no damage to the egg in that whole process
Good Morning Mits
I've been watching NBG and haven't see an egg yet. Tried to find their forum to see what they are saying. Click where it says "blog" just shows the city and states that are watching. hummm
Dana, they have a chat room, think it is on the cam page, Paula and Jo were there last night
Thanks Mits checking again for it. I tell you I was watching the cam when that happened. If there was an egg. I am not so unsure that the eagles talcons did crack it. It was really scarey. The way they are acting this morning. Like something is in the nest but not laying on it. I so much want to be WRONG..
Soon as I saw the video Dana, the way that egg rolled, was thinking the same thing
GOOD MORNING DANA & HELEN...
I agree with both of you about the Norfolk nest. I watched the video over and over and in my humble opinion, I think the egg was already there and then it was disturbed when the owl fly in. Yes, Dana, the eagle seems to be looking at the egg (if there is one) as though someting is wrong. I quess it is a waiting game, unless someone in Norfolk is willing to climb that tree and have a real live look see.
I have joined their forum. Will let you know what I find.
First time since this parent has been in nest. That it actually put its chest down and wiggled like onto an egg...might be good after all.
Good Morning, Wanda, Dana and Helen. I am glad you all agree with me about the egg getting scared out of the eagle. I think it was there before the owl, too.
GOOD MORNING DEB...
So many nests, so many mysteries and so little time. I'm thinking, how will I ever find time to watch all this stuff; yet I don't want to miss anything.
GOOD SATURDAY MORNING TO WANDA, MITS, DANA AND DEB. It looks like it is going to be a nice sunny day every place but our cam. It looks the same as yesterday. I was hoping the warmer air would fix it by itself.
Am glad to see the NBG eagle still in the nest unmolested by the Owl. I guess the nest is theirs now for sure.
Morning Deb, yes, I think if she had been in the process of laying at that precise time, that egg would have flown out of the nest.
Upon watching the video, I wouldn't have known that it was an owl invading the nest if someone hadn't told us. It was so quick that it is hard to tell exactly what took plac at that moment. Maybe the Owl dropped an egg in the nest like a Cowbird does. LOL
I don't like reading about you all hoping the egg didn't get damaged in NBG. Last night, I was thinking the same thing. I hope the eagle didn't crusy it.. She or he seems busy in the nest now.
I love watching the Tesoro nest now that the eagles are getting bigger. They are soooo cute and up close when they are seen.
Pretty windy in Maine and nest is MT.
You got that right WANDA. I wouldn't put it past that old Horned Owl to pull a trick like throwing his egg in the nest. BUT you see who is still sitting on the nest.:) AND if it hatches, it will be the first owl that behaves like an eagle.:)
CANDY: ROFLMBO!
WANDA It sure would serve that owl right. Lost it's baby and nest. He had better stick to the old nest,if he wants a nest!!!!!!
The older Tesoro chick is really moving this morning. AND he is either yawning every now and then or really yelling for his breakfast!
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!---WOW!---Scanned the blog!---It sounds like you folks have had an exciting evening!!---It's a SUNNY WINTER a.m. here in WV--'HOME OF BELLE & LIBERTY'---Temp. is 33°---Most of our ice has melted!!
HELLO!----WANDA----DANA---HELEN & CANDY!!---LET'S ALL ENJOY THIS GLORIOUS DAY!!!
I watched the NORFOLK NEST a few mins. before logging on!!---I could SWEAR she turned an EGG!!---She at least went through the motions of doing same!!---That is such a GREAT site to watch!!---
CANDY, you are too funny....Good Morning, NORMABYRD.
GOOD MORNING NORMA!!! Glad to see you get on this sunny morning. It was quite a fiasco last night at NBG. The owl just snuck up behind the eagle sitting on the nest.
Both eagles in CO nest. At least their tails are there.
Good Morning, Candy and Norma.
BTW....HAPPY GROUND HOG DAY HE saw his shadow...
I see the tails are gone already, darn.
Tesoro parent must have heard the chick calling as she or he is back. One landed a minute before with a fish and then flew off. I don't know if this is the same one or not. So far, hasn't started feeding.
I have had enough winter already this year, I don't want 6 more weeks. Hope Phil is wrong!
Oh MITS you would have to remind us that the Ground Hog saw his shadow. Now we have 6 more weeks of winter. :(:(:(:( We didn't want that for our nest!!! I can't imagine him not seeing his shadow with all the lights and cams on him. What a joke.:):):)
COME ON OVER "GROUND HOG WATCHERS"-----NEW THREAD!!
Regardless, it is still 6 more weeks of winter....it really is a big deal up there in PA, steeped in tradition, they have a good time
They say NEW THREAD
