Thanks, STEVE!!! I'll boogie on over and alert the others.....

Thanks for the call over, Kay .

Nothing wonderful planned for the day. Tomorrow the momma cat goes in for her surgery. She developed a sore paw last night, but the vet's office suggested waiting until tomorrow when she is "out" to examine her. I agree, it doesnt seem urgent.

I checked the nest around 7 this morning and the cam shook at one point, so I'm assuming someone was perched on it and then took off. I'll be happy when there is more activity in the nest.

We had a grey rainy weekend, but today promises sunny skies. Hope there is nothing but blue skies for all of you today.

Okay, I think I've caught up on most of your doings.

JUDIE, hope you return from visiting the cardiologist with an excellent report!

JUDY, I can't make heads or tails of WalMart's employee practices, but I can wish you the best as you tread those unsettled waters. You are going to love retirement after years in that zoo.

JANET, Rock On!!!

JO, I hope Michael's birthday celebration provided another wonderful time for all you Lennox's! I also hope dear little Elliot loved his first beach day!

LOLLY, happy "packing" as you prepare for beautiful Estes Park!

SHIRLEY, hope the hairdresser can offer a good solution to the stinky perm dilemma. I got perms for years and always hated that aspect of beautifying myself!

SANDI, hope your week is starting well! Also hope all reports from Mexico are upbeat and positive!

Prayers for all in need!!!

Hi, LYNNNE1, it's good to "see" you and to get an update on Momma Cat--hope the surgery is a breeze and that the paw can be easily treated. She's so lucky to have a good Momma in you!

Judie said...

Good morning.

Thank you Steve for the bright sunshiny thread.

Thank you Kay for hollerin' at us.

Cardiologist says I'm going to live to my next appointment in September. All labs were good. Now, to get through vascular on Wednesday. I expect to need some work done on blockages.

Beauteous day here.

Hope Jo checks in with a picnic/birthday report to include Master Elliot.

Sandi, so happy you were able to chat with Brian and Lynnis and to know that Freyja is ready to take on the world of Mexico.

Lynne1, good wishes for momma cat tomorrow. Hope the sore paw is just that and nothing complicated.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day.

Judie said...

Oh, almost forgot. Only four more sleeps before Shirley's big adventure.

Mema Jo said...

Good afternoon to all ♥

Elliot is at the beach! He fussed a little on the long ride down but when he got to the
house he was WIDE AWAKE! Aaron sent me great video on FB of him!

The b-day party was wonderful - food was ample and homemade spice cake was delicious.
All his siblings but one were there and his daughter-in-law was able to come and bring two of his grandchildren. Donna's girls were there and some of Michael's very special friends came by to celebrate his 53rd - however' he kept telling everyone he was 35.
That was ok because it made me 57 - haha

Weather has taken a beautiful turn to crisp and cool. AC off and doors and windows opened.

Shirley - most of the perms don't have that horrific smell now a days like they used too. Be beautiful and get all those bags packed. Don't forget where you place your passport!

Sandi - Frejya is such a joy - even if it on the monitor - she does see you and Denny - right? I'm sure the kids are anxious for the final moving day. Tell me again when you will see them in person?

Judie - Good report from dr - Suggestion for you to have Frank open his FB page and search for Jo Lennox - You may be able to see my page and pictures. Not sure about my security setting. Give it a try.

Kay - it is really great dog walking weather! I saw Glo's Patches had her sweater on.

Wanda has gone back to the OBX with her daughter. Denise is having her home built & they are going now to relax but at the same time Supervise! lol

Lynne1 - good luck with momma cat - do you stop by anytime to see the kittens? Good bird migrating weather. My cardinals are coming back to the feeders.

Oh Yes - looking out to the yard I was blessed to see a beautiful Monarch! Took my breath away.

hELLO on lunch at McD and I am smiling I really think me posting the thing I did last night made the difference I am going to be still doing what I have been doing and the same hours as I have in the past
for those not on FB I put that I wonder if I should call HO or HR or maybe a lawyer to see if I have a leg to stand on with my limitation all these 25 yrs I have had it and they have worked with me since it is two work related injures but with every store manager it seems I have to prove my worth and I did mention asking about the people greeters only on FB not to anyone at the store

Well AsstMgr Carmen which I love her LOL and she loves me because of my work ethic Came to me and said we really don't have the hours for PEOPLE GREETER but we are going to keep you doing what you do and slot you as a maintenance person just to keep you in the system and no one will be wiser of it since that isn't public knowledge to anyone
So now I can breathe
so someone had to say something to someone here and i know the lawyer I had before said I did have a leg to stand on
Yeah I am now a happy camper

Hi all - what beautiful weather! Too bad I missed most of it.

Thanks Steve for the fresh thread for the fresh new work week. Thanks Kay for the call over this morning.

Judy, excellent news for you work wise! Now you can relax and coast.

Judie, glad you got good news from today's doctor visit.

Need to make dog food so the girls can eat. Bye!

Warm weather is back. 92 right now, but it was 66 this morning.

Ran some errands this morning and now going to go clean a bathroom. Oh joy!

Headed to Laurel's tomorrow just because we want to! Lol. Will not see them the for a couple of weeks. Gotta get family time in!

Trying to figure out if we should take Skippi to the vet. Her upper lip is pink and slightly swollen. Hmmm? She is eating and does not act like it bothers her.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone,

Steve, thanks for the new thread, and thanks to Kay for the heads-up!

I've been MIA again. Sorry about that. I got a bunch of work to transcribe, and it's been horribly hot & humid, so haven't spent any extra time on the computer, which is in the hottest room in the house. It's supposed to be a lot cooler tomorrow, so we're looking forward to that!

Ken got a call from the dermatologist today, and that thing on his hand was skin cancer, but he said it wasn't the kind we need to worry about. Ken has an appointment tomorrow morning at 10 am with a plastic surgeon for a consultation.
Will keep you posted about that.

Lolly, could Skippi have caught a bug or spider that might have bitten her? Hope it just goes away quickly so you don't have to worry. How soon do you leave on your trip--is it the end of this week?

Shirley, hope the perm will smell pretty and not be a problem on the plane. Bet you're getting really excited at this point. I'm excited for you! Take a million pictures. We still look at ours from our 2008 trip to Scotland and England every day! Sure it will be the trip of a lifetime for you!

JudyE, I'm glad they seem to have worked out your schedule at Walmart! That's a VERY good thing!

Jo, hope you're feeling less tired, and getting lots of good sleep at night. Prayers for you continue from this roost! ♥

Well, need to go get dinner, so will try to get back here tonight afterward. Don't always manage to--Emma often falls asleep in my lap. I CANNOT move once that happens! LOL Have a nice evening, everyone. I ♥ us!

Good evening,

Very sleepy now. I spent the evening visiting with my very dear friends Jeanne and Michael. They lost their beautiful 29-year-old daughter on Saturday. Megan was a special ed teacher and a very creative young woman. I think I have mentioned her before. Jeanne and Michael adopted her when she was an infant. She was Korean. Several years ago, she returned to Korea to teach and while she was there, she did find her birth family. In early August, she became very ill with pancreatitis and was helicoptered to a hospital in Washington, where she died after being hospitalized for several weeks.

stronghunter said...

I skimmed over some of the comments, but I will have to wait to digest them. My brain has quit for the night.

Val is likely to be quizzing me tomorrow about whether I have started packing and if I have read the entire booklet we got from the tour company. Goodness.

I need to wind down while my fingers can find the correct keys. SED, everyone.

Sandi said...

Goodorming my eagle friends.

Shirley, how very sad for your friends to lose a child.

Lynne2, any luck finding a home for the pigs? Didn't you say the new owner is a vet? I'm having a hard time understanding how a vet could be willing to euthanize healthy animals.

Judy, I am still smiling. My kid's crazy hasn't come out yet and I'm loving my new position.

Another fall-like morning - 55 degrees. The great horned owls are back - I have heard them talking back and forth to one another the past few mornings when I take the dogs out. It also appears that the male hummingbirds have all left - I saw only females over the weekend. The feeders are still out and I'm keeping the nectar fresh.

Have agreat day all.

change of plans I am a price coordinator and test scanner didn't put me on maintenance doesn't matter to me being I am fixed is all I had to do a career preference in the computer this am and have to sign papers later but all is KOOL

KAY just curious do you take LONG walks You need one of pedometer to see how far you walk I use to have one a customer gave me and was amazed how much I did walk up to 10 miles on some days here at work that is why I did the bike at home

Now I do the bike every morning before I go to work ( getting up 15 min earlier to do it) 5 miles in am and some when I get home don't like to do in evening because I can't sleep very good

Janet said...

good afternoon to all.

rock count: 9 completed rocks. 4 more to be completed today. so, in a bit, that will be 13 rocks completed. I have 20 more "blank" ones on the table outside.

given that I only paid just under $5 for all of these rocks.....selling one rock will recoup my rock cost. I plan to sell them at a local event next month for $5 a piece.

I have not done any eagles, yet. right now I am working on a fairy sniffing a flower, a unicorn, a hummingbird (that's kicking my hiney) ....

the challenge is, the size and shape of the rock and the smoothness, or lack thereof....

I had no clients booked for today. arrived @ work @ 7:30....I did some cleaning and such. by 10 am I had enough of that excitement and came home. I can clean for free here.

so I have done some laundry, painted some and finished the book that I was reading.
tomorrow, thurs and fri I am fully booked and partially so on sat. hopefully that continues.

livvy is working on her school work. we have math tutoring tonight.

I am making tortellini soup for dinner. I made the broth yesterday and will finish it when I get home from tutoring.

not a lot else going on. beautiful outside today. :)

hugs to all! later

I am glad you are still smiling, Sandi. I hope both you and your student keep smiling all year long.

Happy to learn your heart is in good shape, Judie.

Yay, Judy. Good to learn that Walmart is being nice to you.

Doggie play day, Kay. I like picturing that in my mind.

So glad you had a delightful family gathering Jo, and happy to read of Elliot's first trip to the beach.

Love hearing about the rock painting business, Janet. Let us know when you do an eagle.

Trying to stay calm as the big day arrives--and trying to keep Val calm. She is in mother hen overdrive trying to make sure we are doing all of the stuff we're supposed to do.

Sounds as though everyone's day has gone well.
Glo had a pic today of all 3 furbabies in her living room - they had spaced themselves out so it was a pretty wide pic. Patches is such a pretty dog and Glo keeps her
all in ribbons and bows and sweaters.
Wanda's daughter Denise is having a home built at the OBX - Wanda is down there now with
her surveying the structure.

I am expecting Youngest Son and wife for dinner !

That is a thought, Judie. Some might call her a control freak. Val has reminded us several times that we are to be at her house at 11:30 on Friday morning. She pointed out that this is the first time I have packed for a trip overseas. Well, not exactly. I sent two teenagers on a trip overseas. We did okay with that. And then I had to call the American Embassy when Susan got sick in Ecuador. I think we will be okay.

Lolly, I'm going to advise you err on the side of caution since you will be leaving town w/ Ms Skippi. There could be several reasons for what you see, the first thing that comes to my mind is a Rodent Ulcer. You can google and see pictures.

Lynne, how is your momma cat doing?

Good news on Ken's not bad cancer, Andi!

Jo, so glad Michael's b'day party was so much fun!

I had a dream that I saw Baby Owl!! He was sitting on a telephone pole and yakked up a nice pellet for me! He's outside right now whining. I expect he will be leaving for good soon.

I'm LOVING my animal behavior course!!! I think the next 6 months are going to go by too fast! Can you believe we will learn how to teach a GOLDFISH a trick??

Goodorming my eagle friends.

Judy, I'm confused about your comment that your manager won't let people take a 2 week vacation. Didn't you just have a 2 week vacation? I believe that life situations turn out the way they are supposed to, even if they don't turn out the way we expect them to, so try not to fret about the retirement thing. The answer will be clear at some point.

Lynne, I'm glad you are enjoying the class. And what potentially great news about the pigs - can't wait to hear more.

I have a "when life gives you lemons" story that I have been holding onto for about a month. During the 9 years that I was a teacher, I accumulated 55 sick days. The district's policy is that, when a person retires, they will pay you for those days at 50% of your salary. Not exactly fair IMO since, if you USE the days, you are paid your full salary for them PLUS the district pays for a sub. But, at least you don't lose them completely.

Well, in mid-August, I emailed someone in the payroll office for verification that next June, I will be paid for those 55 days at 50% of my teacher salary since that's what I was making when I accumulated them. Any remaining days from this current year would be paid out at 50% of my para salary, which is only about 60% of what I was making as a teacher.

My question was bounced around to several different people, including the district's legal counsel and the final answer I received is that, based on the wording in the DE code, my previously earned 55 days will be combined with this year's 10 days and, when I retire, I will be paid for ALL accumulated days at 50% of my CURRENT salary.

How's that for treating a conscientious employee fairly? I have gone to work with sore throats, colds, headaches, and laryngitis b/c that's my work ethic. I make doctor/dentist appointments for after school hours. When Mom was dying and I was driving back to Baltimore to spend weekends with her, I took 1/4 days on Fridays instead of full days so the district didn't have to pay a sub for me. When we had Bandit put down, we made the appointment for 4pm and I went to work that day, knowing what was facing me after school - and I was back in school the day after.

But, here's the "make lemonade" part of the story. I have 65 days that I can take off this year and I have challenged myself to try to use them all. Though it totally goes against my work ethic, I will not allow the district to cheat me. They can pay me at my FULL para pay for the days I use PLUS pay a sub for me.

Today is my first day off. Denny has a dermatologist appointment this afternoon so I took a "family illness" day. Denny will get a receipt and I will tell the district that my husband and I go to all doctor appointments together.

Oh wow, I am getting my very first look at an eagle in our nest with the new high definition picture on the cam. Beautiful!!

Hi, Everyone,

Dropping by to let you know about Ken's doctor consultation yesterday. It was in Irvine, which is about a 25-minute drive on an average day. Well, we got some heavy rain yesterday morning, so traffic was nearly at a standstill. The drive to Irvine took over an hour! Got there OK, though, thank God. Passed some nasty accidents on the way, the worst of which seemed to involve a Highway Patrol motorcycle. Expected to see something on the TV news, but they didn't mention it.
Well, the plastic surgeon was very nice, and he had over an hour of free time on his schedule, so he removed the cancerous spot from Ken's hand, stitched him up, and bandaged him up. He's good to go! We go back in 2 weeks for the nurse to remove the stitches. Glad to have that over with! The hand is sore, of course, but we can ice it for the first 2 days, and Ken is taking X/S Tylenol for it. They said NOT to take aspirin or ibuprofen--guess it would cause too much bleeding.

Shirley, I'm so sorry to hear of your friends' loss of their daughter! Please relay my condolences to them. It just seems so unnatural for a child to go before their parent does.
I bet Allie has figured out that you're going on a trip! How DO they know?! She may try to pack herself in your suitcase, so she won't be left behind. Our Siamese that we had decades ago used to do that!

Judie, glad to hear that your "ticker" is behaving like a Timex!

Well, I need to go get ready to go mall walking. Will be back later to catch up here. Ken and Emma both say "Howdy!" Have a great day, everyone. I ♥ us!

Kay said...

Good Morning Eagle Buds!!!

SANDI, enjoy that "lemonade"--you've earned it and the district deserves what they get when they refuse to treat an honest, dedicated employee fairly.

ANDY, hurrah for Ken's plastic surgeon! I know what a relief that is for both of you!

Just another day in the life here and I like it like that!

Wishing all of you a glorious Wednesday!

Prayers for all in need!!!

Good Wed morning to all. Today and tomorrow I have dr appointments.
Eyes - the degeneration for which I hope they are both clear as a bell - and
then full eye exam to get my lens updated for me to see better.... Also big question will be in right eye -How large is the cataract? Not that I have time in-between the
COPD and cancer to be concerned BUT gotta take care of it.

Sandi - perhaps you should use some of your vacation time visiting in Mexico around the holidays this year. It is a bummer the policy they have in effect... spread the word to others for sure!

Andy - so very thankful that Ken's hand is now going to heal. Enjoy your Mall walking - I would love to still be able do accomplish that.

Judie today, if I remember correctly, is another appointment for you - praying you come through it with flying colors.

Shirley - butterflies not only in my yard but in your stomach! Like Andy remarked - Allie is going to miss you. Hunter will need to take your place with her. Good think kittens sleep during the daytime.

Janet did you find the eagle for the rock yet? It would be a Best Seller among all of us.

Kay probably is typing too so I will BBL this early evening........ ♥

Shirley, I am so very excited for your trip. Hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy yourself to the max! Safe and happy travels for you and your friends!

Judie for you and any others who do not have Facebook, I posted a pic of PPO in her pot on my blog. She is sitting on two eggs and they say they have not seen any other sign of mating so looks like two eggs are going to be it. Thought the pic would be larger but guess when you "borrow" a pic you have to be satisfied with what you get!

Jo, every once in a while i wish for 24 hours of good health. Just one day. As I no longer remember how it felt. I understand how you feel.

Lynne2, so happy you are loving classes. Sounds like maybe you are headed for brighter days! Yay!

grannyblt said...

Good morning all.

Just stopping by to report on Lizzie aka Momma Cat. She will tell you that she had a quiet uneventful ride to the vet yesterday. She was weighed before I left and she is a very petite 7.1 lbs. Before she could be taken to surgery, a spraying Tom cat was put in a nearby cage, then a snarling big dog was too close and her wild side came back. She evidently went kicking and screaming to surgery, which went well. The recovery was not much better than the pre-op as she hissed and growled until I took her home. She was in a much better state after we arrived home, and today she is doing well. Phew. She isn't allowed outside for 10 days, much to her chagrin, as she was counting the days until a nap in the direct sunshine.

I need to make notes to comment properly on all of the situations here, but know I read with interest, and you all are in my prayers .

Hope all have a decent day.

JudyEddy said...

On lunch naturally

SANDI he says that he will not give any vaca more than a week but there really is nothing he can do and mine was for surgery etc and he waited to the last moment to approve it He did refuse two other people that wanted two weeks off I told them to go to HR or call HO on it and as far as Nov Dec they say that is a BLACK out time for vaca but if you call HO they say its store discretion and i have know many people in past take time off but I don't want the hassle
JOHN just got back from two weeks and he informed is AsstMgr to tell him no more two weeks and which again I don't think he can So I told him to call HR also

FYI I am giving my notice on Nov 14 Two weeks is what I am giving them and will not say anything at all to them till then and I just found out something that burns me which I knew before but really two late I can go in and request a day off and use my sick time one day at a time like for Dr or Dentist appt and they have to pay me for it so I already keyed in one day for in two weeks I do have 192 hrs and will loose them so I will have many appt till then

sorry for the confusion

Ellen is sick and he told her TO TOUGH IT UP and come to work
so she is here

Good afternoon.

Gosh, so much going on. Sandi, congratulations on getting your leave time allowed and paid for and that Denny's appointment was a-ok; Andy, good for Kubby getting that hand taken care of but sorry you had such a long wait in traffic; Suzan, thank you for posting a picture of PPO as I really miss seeing her; Glo, sorry your Lizzie engaged in Lizzie Fits but ever so happy she is home and restored to calm and hope you are also; Jo, hoping your doctor appointment today was a good one.

My appointment: good news/bad news. Good news is that my tests were fairly good so no surgery planned; bad news is that the vascular surgeon I like and trust is leaving. As our Lynn would say: it is what it is.

Up early. Eyes are tired. Feets going up.

Judy, i doubt that i will see the eagles the next 2 mornings. On work days i am only on the computer from about 5:45 am til 6 am, too early for eagles.

Like you, i wish i would have known that my school district was going to handle my sick time so poorly. I would have started using my days last year instead of trying to use them all this year. What i am doing will certainly attract attention from district office since i have never missed more than 4 days in an entire school year.

Judie, sorry to hear that your vascular guy is leaving the practice.

Ok, i am over and out!

Good Late Evening, Everyone,

Judie, that's a bummer that a doctor you really like is leaving! Hope you will find another doctor that you like just as well. Just found out that my doctor, who has been out with a badly broken ankle, is now back. Need to make an appointment to see her and get the full story. Also have a rash on my face from the statin drug I take for cholesterol. Darn thing makes my face itch, and now have a rash that looks like rug burn on my face above and below my lips. Grrr.
Have stopped taking the miserable stuff for now.

Oh, Shirley! I'm so envious I wish I could hop on that plane with you! Won't be long now!

Lolly, I wouldn't mind joining you on your adventure, either! Hope you see LOTS of elk! Have you found out what Skippi has on her lip?

Well, need to go watch some recorded TV programs, and point the toes skyward.
Emma will be searching for a lap to occupy, too. Have a restful night's sleep, everyone, with SED. God bless, and goodnight. I ♥ us!

Goodorming my eagle friends!

Judy, 76 work days sounds wonderful! A friend recently told me that it's good to have 5 hobbies/things you like to do once you are retired so as not to get bored. Just something to think about since retirement time is fast approaching.

Andy, I'm glad Ken got the squamous cell removed sooner rather than later - they are nothing to mess with. Denny liked the new dermatologist. I will meet him in November for my 6 month check.

Shirley, how excited are you today?

Lynne2, update on the pigs???

I am still seeing hummingbirds at my feeders - anyone else?

Have agreat day all.

Judie said...

Good morning.

Bright lovely sunshine and blue sky this morning. Yet another day for us to enjoy.

Have already been assigned a new vascular surgeon at the same practice. My experiences with military medical care (socialized medicine) left me psychologically and emotional vulnerable to changes in caregivers. I am wary of doctors I do not know, who may not be there the next checkup or even for a follow-up, know nothing about me the person, and are just "doing a job." Not to worry. I'll survive.

Speaking of things to do in retirement, my list today includes cleaning spots from the carpet -- spots that mysteriously appear after I walk around with my coffee cup. The word sloshing comes to mind.

Mei is cuddling her baby this morning. Bears are okay. Yesterday was the 4th anniversary for Hope's death. It is raining in Scotland. Our nest is bathed in sunshine.

Shirley, check your check list. One more sleep.

Wishing everyone the most wonderful day possible.

Good morning to all ♥ Shirley what time is your flight - I bet you don't sleep tonight!

Judie I just got a new Oncologist when my favorite left to be closer to his aging parents - I found this practice only has the best caring drs and I am quite satisfied
with my new oncologist. I think my general physician is about to retire - He knows me like the back of his hand and I will miss him if he leaves while I'm still around.

Four more days and they should be going up to our nest.. I hope they keep the cam on while they do the maintenance.......however if they are mounting a new cam I guess we won't see anything. Hoping they keep us informed.

Mema Jo said...

I did not do a face plant - I dislike the MT space that happens on our blog...

Kay said...

Good Morning Eagle Buds!!!

JO, look at those blank spots as the blog taking a moment out for meditation or daydreaming. Four days to go before the cam guys zero in on our tree--yeah!!!

SANDI, once you retire you'll find yourself so busy you'll wonder how you ever had time to "work"!

JUDIE, there's nothing worse than losing a valued doctor, dentist or hairdresser! I hope the next vascular surgeon is a top notch doc and that you'll be very happy with him/her. Once in a while we do get surprises like that. Fingers crossed!!!

Thinking of SHIRLEY as she checks and rechecks that packing list! How exciting!

This is usually a doggy play day, but Julie's campus shut down for the day due to a power outage. Next Tuesday is an "in service day for the staff and students" so no classes. She'll have to do some sort of community service thing, but it won't take the whole day. Malcolm won't be with us til' a week from today. Penny seems to be okay with that!

Praying for all in need!!!

Have been getting ready to leave on Saturday! Trailer is about loaded except for last minute items.

Shirley, have a wonderful trip!

Skippi traveled to the vet beautifully in her new cat-in-the-bag carrier. All at the vet's office loved it! She got a steroid shot and is on antibiotics. Perhaps it is an allergy, but antibiotics to make sure since we are leaving. Back to the carrier......it is great. Skippi sat quietly in the bag on the seat and I could reach over and pet her. I do have all the original disc that came with the computer I guess I should have given him But didn't think about it I have no window player he gave me a off the wall one my video look like traffic cones LOL didn't know what it was till I clicked on them

I can see the cam and all and get email may just need to be happy with that at the present time

May just have to buy a new one He told me he could install Window 7 in my tower but I just don't know about that It was only 40 to get me back up and running so I will be content for now at least I have a bigger monitor compared to laptop and tablet
the funny thing is also everything seem larger like the live feed use to be rectangle well now its almost squared WEIRD

oh and when I shut it down it comes up with black screen and wants me to F1 and goes to the screen shut down abnormally and choose to start normally or safe mode so that tells me issues still

Just got back from lunch have a little over a half hour before I get Jordyn We will be going to WMT to see if we can find her bathing suits for the cruise in Dec
Angie suggested I ask for the vacation at work before I put in my notice but like I told her I know the answer but just may do that since I will be giving only the two weeks
I asked her to see if she can find the papers to where the tickets were purchased in Jan that way I can show that we will see

I wonder if SHIRLEY will be able to pick up free internet in some areas there
Our Wmt has free connection now I think they all do

Judie said...

Good late afternoon.

Most important: my thoughts and prayers are with Tori and Robyn. May this be a brief and easily defeated infection. Tori is such a strong young woman.

Picturing Shirley flying the friendly skies on her way to the land of romance. Picturing Allie knocking on Kathryn's door before dawn. Too funny.

Jo, first thank you for the information on Tori and also thank you for the pneumonia shot reminder. I'll due flu and pneumonia the end of the month.

Kay, pay careful attention to Max's communications. Hoda may get hold of him before he knows what's happened and they will be sharing brownies on a dragon boat being rowed by Dudley DoRight.

Sandi, I think Kay's suggestion that the property defacer be assigned the task of graffiti cleanup/repair is a good one. What is the outcome for him?

Foraging complete. Feet up for a few. Now, to the scullery. Lox and bagel sammiches tonight.

Sandi said...

Hi all - it's the weekend! Yay!

I wonder where Shirley is right now?

Judie, no word on the punishment for my boy defacing school property. Based on how well the assistant principal handled his office referrals last year, I suspect he may get an ice cream or 30 minutes of video game time for his offense. Last year he had 14 office referrals and was never sent to the alternative school.

Judy, I agree with Angie that there's no harm in asking for the 2-week vacation, unless you really want to retire in December.

Thinking of Tori this morning and hoping for healing for her.

Also thinking of Shirley and what she and her friends will be getting into today.

Lolly, safe travels - have a wonderful time!

Judie, not only has the vice principal swept my boy's transgressions under the rug b/c it "doesn't look good for the school's report card" when special ed. students are suspended, his mother constantly makes excuses for and enables him. I won't be surprised at all to read about this one in the news some day. Fortunately, I'm just the babysitter who documents what she sees in the classroom. I don't have to deal with the mother.

Laundry is the only thing on my agenda today and maybe reading a book in the sun. I think we may have to turn the AC back on today - more humidity. For now, I have the live cam open in hopes of seeing a couple of eagles bright and early.

Have agreat day all.

Many years ago I worked in the spring and summer at a local garden center called Chapman Gardens. It was a family owned business and at that time it was in the hands of son Mike. It was a beautiful place for the many years since it was first opened. I loved working there. Mike was awesome at teaching me about all different plants, there was Elmer, an elderly man who I just loved to talk to when he was there working, full of stories! There was an old, uncastrated donkey named Frank who was pure evil and only liked Elmer! He had a very cool dog who helped him run the place, her name was Elsie. It was so sad when she died, but she was quite old and had a happy life.

Sadly, Mike succumbed to serious alcohol problems and the business went right down the drain in just a couple of years. It was awful. I quit. The business sat empty for a few years and then it was bought by a gal named Michele. She had gone there as a child and just loved it and wanted to restore it to it's original grand self, and she did just that! I used to go hang out when I bought plants and chit chat with her.

But then we moved and were not close by anymore. And then came FB and we found each other and have kept in touch. She is a REAL softie about animals and SHE is the one who will be taking the pigs to live in that beautiful place!

It's so crazy how things happen sometimes!

Oh and best of all, it's a stone's throw from where I attend my classes so I will be able to visit!

Glad to see Shirley and Co. have made it safely to France!

Safe travels to Lolly, Jack and Miss Skippi!

Judie, hope the Oktoberfest was fun!

Kay, you have had rain? We are in the midst of yet another long dry spell with no rain all this past week and except for a 20% chance on Monday, no rain for the next week either.

Sandi, OMG. No good deed goes unpunished. TAKE ALL OF THOSE DAYS THIS YEAR!!

HA! Janet, Livvy would be FAR less than pleased to get the FLU!! I'm getting my shot mid Oct.

Jo, have no fear, the heat will be gone tomorrow!

I feel for you Andy, with your temps going up again. It gets old fast. Or did we get old fast which is why it's so annoying!

Praying for Tori, anxiously awaiting more news.

Now ladies, does everyone have their bibs and drool buckets in preparation for ogling, I mean watching Nu do his thing on Monday?? LOL!

Got to run. Shower, some TV, bed. Have a good night everyone!

Good evening to all.

Well, for a retirement community, that place sure rocked, or umpahpahed, tonight. Lots of fun. Must say the people there are so friendly and welcoming. Residents act like long lost friends.Yes, we had a very nice time.

Lynne2, what an amazing story about the garden center and its restoration and now to become home to the pigs and nearby for a few visits from you. What a lovely series of events all coming together.

Oh, and I do have my large bib on the computer chair all ready for Monday just in case Nu flashes us a friendly smile.

Time to go to the recliner then to dent the pillows.

Restful sleep for all.

Janet said...

good evening to all!

LYNNE2: so loved loved loved the story of how the Piggies got a new, wonderful home! everything for a reason!

And yes, holding Tori & Robyn close...have been and will continue....

Was a busy day at work . Thankfully!

Livvy went to a Vanderbilt football game with Michael today. Not sure if she had fun. She was mad that Tom and I had Mex. food w/o her.

And I agree, she'd be very unhappy to have the flu. She was scared last December she was going to catch it, but we put her on that Tamiflu and she never caught it.

ya'll have a great evening! good night!

Robyn has news updating Tori who is still at the UMMC - Robyn says Tori is finally sleeping and getting her daily 6 hr IV of thymoglobulin. I'm heading home soon. Tori has visitors going in tomorrow. Tori should be home Tuesday, Wednesday the latest. If you want to visit her she is at 22 s. Green St Baltimore MD. 10 east

Incidentally, Steve is up in Milo Maine, packing up gear, getting ready to head into the North Maine Woods tomorrow to catch some salmon on the West branch of the Penobscot River. THEREFORE sounds like he could be off all week. I have one other good IT contact and will try to get some info on this nest schedule. The must install a Mount for the cam equipment. I am just praying that early morning and early dusk isn't the planned working time around the nest. Since they are replacing the cam equipment it just seems to me that the entire cam will be off. 9/19/15 Ozzie is Home ! I was shaking so much I'm lucky I got what I got of Ozzie .He looks great ! Desiree will have better ones and the story. But when we all left the nest no one was home. Ozzie had flown off again towards the NE where Harriet was last seen. Per Dee Kelly.

Fantastic pictures of him on FB. There is going to be a fight for Harriet I'm sure.
FV and Harriet have bonded (mated) MTBR

Goodorming my eagle friends.

Jo, thanks for the updates about Tori and Steve. A timeline for tomorrow would be good but if not, what happens, happens. Robyn's post about Tori's progress sounds encouraging.

Lynne, great story about how the pigs found their new home - yay Michele!

Judie, it's great that you're getting to know your new neighbors already - glad you had a good time.

Our nest is MT and it looks and sounds windy at the nest.

Tennis for me this afternoon, otherwise a lazy day.

Have agreat day everyone!

Good early morning.

Jo, thank you for the Tori update. Hopefully, having visitors will lift her spirits and being able to sleep is good for healing.

Wishing Steve some happy fishing.

Nest filled with sunshine and the wind is still blowing there as it is outside my window.

Sandi, enjoy tennis.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Wonderful news this evening from the Southwest Florida Eaglecam nest, Dad eagle Ozzie has returned!!! Reports are that he chased away FV and perched on his favorite branch. If you don’t remember the story, Ozzie spent a few months in rehab for an injury and was released in June near the nest but has not been seen until today. Also, a couple of weeks ago, it was announced that the new season will start streaming the cams in October. Doin the happy dance!!!!

Going to visit with Jenny - My Sunday morning date BBL

Good Morning Eagle Buds!!!

JO, thanks for all the good news---Tori seems to be triumphing over another bump in the road---Ozzie has returned and has reclaimed his territory---and you are enjoying the company of a dear daughter today!!!

JUDIE, so glad you enjoyed your new friends and future neighbors! It's nice to be included even before taking up residency there.

SANDI, hope tennis was lots of fun!

Seth wasn't home this weekend, but called last night and all's well in his world. He was about to go to an on campus Imrov performance with friends. Spent Friday evening with them as well so his social life is picking up it seems.

Other than the usual daily chores it's a lazy day here, too!

Prayers for all in need!!!

Good early evening.

Congratulations to Ozzie on his recovery and his return to Harriet. May they enjoy a wonderful nesting season.

Kay, so glad Seth is enjoying his return to college. May he excel in friendships and academics.

If I read correctly, Kathryn has found a companion for Allie and his name is Cheeto. Sure hope all that purring extends to Allie and Allie will purr in return. Saying a prayer for poor Luna.

Just an FYI: Ken just got home from shopping, and he says it's 102 outside!
Oh, my! :o(

Yuck--make that 103. I'm hoping the thermometer on our patio is broken. The sun is hitting it, and it says it's 120!

Good news--our daughter, Jen ran in the Plano Balloon Festival Half Marathon today, and we're really proud of her time of 1:56:31. She was in the Female 40-44 Division, and placed 4th in her division, and 180th out of 2,500 runners! Wears me out just thinking about it! Way to go, Jen! ♥

Have a story of a mishap today.

We were in Dumas, TX, headed north, 5 lanes, two each way with a middle turn lane. We were in the left lane as we had a left turn coming up. All of a sudden a BIG rig on our right headed into us pushing us into the turn lane and then he stopped in front of us. Well, Jack stopped as quick as he could but pulling a trailer you can stop only so fast. Yes, damage to our car....hood, grill, and bumper. Nothing to the18 wheeler. He got out saying our trailer hit his mirror and he was trying to stop us. Well, stop us he did! No mark on his mirror,no mark on our trailer but thousands of dollars damage to our car. I called 911 to get the police fast. It scared me to death! I have had a good cry, but still have a muscle tightening in the middle of my back! Policeman was nice. He said the driver said the same story. Do not know if he got a ticket or not. Insurance companies will do the settling. In the mean time we travel on with front end damage. If I could have slugged the $@:((8!, I would have!!! Okay, feel another cry coming on. This has really affected me. Stupidity I can not deal with!!!!

Skippi is doing fine. She is at home in the trailer. Travels fine. Sometimes she indicates she wants up to look around, so I put her on my shoulder. Most of the time she sleeps.

Saw a highway sign of bear. Just like a deer sign only a bear. Wished to get a picture for Lynne2.

Just a short drive tomorrow to Estes Park. Having a glass of wine. Trying to shake off my depression or what ever it is!

Mema Jo said...

Lolly - you have every right to have a good cry - It really shakes you up and also knowing you can't do a thing about it will infuriate you! Here is hoping that tomorrow
you and Jack are not in any pain. Take some tylenol before bed time.
And to think I keep telling you to have a safe journey - I'm going to start saying
Prayers for a safe journey!

Hopefully you will see 3 bears tomorrow and 2 mosses............♥
