Only Thursday? Really?

Good morning everyone! So tired and wondering how to make it through the day today when all I want to do is go back to bed. I guess the coffee hasn't kicked in yet!

DanaMo said...

Those damn spots, Jo! We dont' like them at all. Too bad we can't get rid of them with a little Tide to Go!
You are in my prayers, most nights I don't get all the way through my rosary, but I was once told that the angels finish it for you! ♥ I just always loved that saying!

These crazy kinders are driving me nuts!!I really have to adjust my whole way of thinking with this class. It's really hard afer so many years with classes that were so much further ahead in maturity, and academically.

Boomer is nosing me so he is making typing difficult.

Have a great day everyoe!

Oh and Aric is home for 3 days! Yay for mid-term break.

You know, I was so busy at work, I failed to mention my lil pail of goodies from Margy! Everything in green! Lime!
I so wanted to come to the blog before I went to bed, but something told me wait till morning . Now here I am, Momma III, I am praying that this spot goes away quickly. I cannot even believe my eyes when I read that. I think my heart stopped. I love your attitude, and I know right now your mind is on Michael, but please take care of you. Rest and sleep when your tired. I love you! Constant prayers always in motion.

Sandi said...

Good morning Dana, Lori, Jewels, and all my eagle friends!

Jo, prayers continue for Michael and now for you. I know nothing about a cyberknife - will have to do some reading.

Today is my Friday with kids - teacher inservice day tomorrow. But it will be a long one. Meeting after school from 3 - 4, then a home football game, then parent-teacher conferences til 8pm.

Sad to read the news about the NBG nest - what will poor Dad Norfolk be thinking today? Hard not to humanize.

Have a good day all.

Good morning to one and all:

Mema Jo: continued healing light and love.....

JUDYE: enjoy your time off....

it is Thursday again. its been yet another busy week; tomorrow starts fall break for the school system. breaks are actually a break for me as well; in that, when i get up i'm the only one i have to get ready for work....tom and liv sleep in.

went outside again this morning to view the early morning skies, so pretty this time of the year. somehow the cooler weather just makes them seem brighter. and had a thankful moment; thankful that even though grocery shopping may be a pain sometimes, figuring out what to get, getting things, lugging them in and putting them away.....you know i am thankful that i have the ability to GET the things that we want/need. once upon a time, i couldn't.

keeping my friends and their loved ones close in my heart and thought....light, love, comfort and healing to all....make it a great day!

Latest Caring Bridge update on Michael.

From Christine, his daughter:
I just got home from the hospital. They did another head CT this afternoon and said it was stable. It had not gotten better or worse. I was there when they took him completely off sedation. When they took him off he was moving around a lot. His right side he was not moving. He tried to open his eye and was responsive to pain when you would push on him. He is a fighter. He kept trying to pull the breathing tube out when he had the hand mitt off. I feel like he can hear when you talk to him. He was squeezing my hand and leaning towards me. They took the EEG off. He is breathing on his own even though he has a breathing tube in. So let's just continue to pray that he will get stronger and make more progress daily.

On a side note the nurses would like family to stop calling as it takes attention away from dad and other patients. Also that family visitors only come during regular visiting hours 12-6 or 8-10 pm.
Thank you all for your support.

I will go to the East Shore of Kootenay Lake and spend sometime at the bird sanctuary. I am hoping to see the pair of eagles that I know are there and I have seen several times. Got back from the Garden about about 7 p.m. after spending all day there - arrived at 9:15 a.m. and saw our beautiful eagles a number of times. Yes, dear friends, the nest is down but it was never the sticks that made that our special tree. It is our memories of Mom and Dad and our three bobbleheads and Dad's courting season and #3! Dad and #3 are still soaring around their beautiful garden. I am exhausted, both emotionally and physically and will report more tomorrow. We will EAGLE ON for Dad! It's about them, not about us or a nest. More news tomorrow!!!

Had to post this just saw on facebook
Norfolk Botanical Garden Eagle Alliance
Very sad news for Dad and #3 and all of us who love our eagles and our Garden. Shame on our City!

Good Afternoon,

This morning the Norfolk Botanical Garden board held an emergency meeting and voted to support the recommendation to remove the nests. I have attached their motions to this email. The City is in posse...
ssion of the state and federal permits. After discussions with USDA representatives who state removing the nest as early as possible gives the eagles a chance to find another location and reviewing the Garden’s schedule, we determined the best time to remove the nests is tomorrow morning Thursday, October 4th.

According to the tree service, climbers will remove the nests by hand and drop branches to the ground. Under federal law, a USDA representative will supervise the removal process. In the interest of public safety, the garden will close for no more than two hours during this process.

Moving forward, USDA representatives will monitor and report any eagle activity at the Garden and conduct appropriate dispersal techniques.

Since 2011, representatives from the USDA, Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries, the Norfolk Botanical Garden, the FAA and the Norfolk International Airport met about the eagle activity at the airport, nest proximity to the airport, strike history and eagles in Virginia. In June, the City of Norfolk brought these groups around a table to further examine the issue and discuss the recommendation from USDA Wildlife Services to remove the nests following the completion of the Wildlife Hazard Assessment which showed a “significant risk” to public safety. The FAA also sent a letter supporting the USDA’s position in July. Shortly thereafter, the Airport, City and Garden agreed to support the recommendation and remove the nests.

The City of Norfolk, as landowner, moved forward to obtain the necessary state and federal permits in August.

While we all have enjoyed the eagle’s presence in the Garden, encouraging the birds to relocate ultimately ensures the safety of the public, property and the eagles.

Please feel free to call me with any questions.

Sincerely,

Good morning all! Getting ready to face another day. Parent conferences today and Monday. We have a half day of school then conferences. This is the first time we have done it this way. The principal did it because apparently conferences don't count as a professional day, just a day off on the calendar. What BS! So by doing two half days we don't lost a day. The only ones that have had days off are the kids! I'm dying here...

Mass this morning will be difficult, but I am so grateful that we can go as a school family. So many needs...

Love you guys for all the support. Sorry I am not on more often.

Jo, when do you see the docs to discuss next steps? Still haven't read about a cyberknife.

Dana, how often does your dad have his treatments?

Judy, forgot to tell you to enjoy your vacation. I assume you aren't going to visit your friend, so what do you have planned?

Thanks to everyone for keeping my mom in your thoughts and prayers. We are still in a holding pattern - no call from Cleveland Clinic to set up an appt. yet.

OK, the sooner I get this day started, the sooner it will be over. Make it a good one all!

Dana, many of us understand from first-hand experience--well kind of first-hand experience--about the difficulties of having a tough class.

Some groups are a real challenge, some are endearing, some are just plain fun.

One year, I had a group of kids we called "basic students" first block. Mostly boys. Each morning they would come in and report to me about who had gotten into trouble that morning at breakfast and how that is why they were not in class. Already suspended first thing in the morning, or some such thing.

I had a fondness for that bunch of boys, but I was afraid to sit down. They needed watching.

After several similar classes . . .

I had lunch duty with the cafeteria Nazi. He had fits if I even dared to sit down. He would fuss that I had allowed EIGHT students to sit at a table where there were only supposed to be six, for heavens' sake. I had not been so closely supervised since I was eight years old.

Man, was I tired by the end of the day.

And these were not even kindergarten kids. I know kindergartners require more energy than the older ones.

I think kindergarten teachers and bus drivers deserve much more credit than they get for what they do. Bless you.

stronghunter said...

I said "kind of" first-hand experience because I have not actually taught a real kindergarten class, at least in a school setting.

Hope that the parent conferences go well, Dana.

I see some of you aren't familiar with APPLE SNITTING. Below, is an account of snitting at a Hedgesville church...(OUR LYNN LIVED IN HEDGESVILLE)

HEDGESVILLE - They came from as far away as Shepherdstown, Files Crossroads in Berkeley Springs and many places in between to snit apples for the making of the Apple Butter at Pleasantview Community Center. The first snitting was Sept. 21. The second snitting for the Apple Butter Festival will be Oct. 5 at the Community Center. Many people came to help and it still took till late in the afternoon to finish up. As a thank-you the helpers were served a nice meal of soups and sandwiches, other goodies and some very nice desserts. More than 40 people helped with the snitting while several others peeled the apples and more helped in the kitchen preparing the food.

I sent Steve an email asking about the status of the cam, told him I was really needing to see our eagles. This was his reply:

I understand. We are not allowed to do any procurements until October 21; and we also have strict limitations on purchases after that due to the pending sequestration, which would impact our budget significantly. Hang in there. I'll get it done as soon as possible.

Hi, Gang,

Golly, I forgot to hit "Publish"!
This is from yesterday afternoon, about 3 pm Pacific time:

Well, I thought I could send all the doctor's reports back today, but the last one I did, the patient's name could be interpreted 3 different ways because of the way it was written. I tried calling the doctor's office, but my contact there was not in, and won't be back until 10 am tomorrow. Guess it will all wait until then! Can't say I didn't try.

Prayers continuing big-time for all the situations here. Love and (((HUGS))) to all!!!

Going to go spend some quality time with Emma, who has been very patiently waiting for me to finish my work today. She is SUCH a sweetheart!

I ♥ us!!!!

Jo, what an absolutely wonderful update on Michael. Will continue to think of him and send more prayers for better news each day. Thank you,Sharon.

Um, still need to Google apple snitting.

Happy Thanksgiving Hoda. Enjoy!

Hope Shirley's eye appointment was uneventful.

Good Afternoon ! Tickled pink to read about Michael's rebound, JO ! Prayers continuing for you both, of course. Thanks for taking care of the Baby Brantley Fund---I love us !

Columbus Cyberknife is running ads on TV and it looks like a wonderful way to go for many folks ! Keep us posted on that possibility, please.

Pain under control, but the increase in Neurontin is making me sleepy and more naps than I like to take are a must. Better than pain, however.

NBG nest news is disturbing. Can't imagine what they will do to discourage nest building. This could be very interesting. Bah Humbug on that decision !

Prayers being said and candles being lit for all in need---as GLO says---both spoken and unspoken.

Hi, Everyone,

SOOOO habby to see the wonderful news about Michael!!! God is VERY good to us!!!

Prayers continue, of course, for him, and for ♥Jo! (Not to mention all the others in need of prayer!)

Shirley, hope the eye appt. went well.

Now I need to look up "apple snitting!" Hmmm....

Hoping everyone has a good Red Friday! Will try to get back here to check in later tonight. I ♥ us!

Pulling a Margy here--I found a definition for apple snitting! It means to cut the apples into small pieces, in preparation for making apple butter. Later, alligators...

You all are such a beautiful community! This is my first visit to your blog and I love it. My name is Theresa Christmas and I attend Shepherd Universtiy. I am in a Communications class that is hosting the ACFF in its social media campaign. I think that you all would be excited not only to attend some of the film showings between Nov 1 and 4, but to check out our blog at ACFF2012posterous.com.
Your eagles are AWESOME! I never knew that there were any in Shepherdstown. Your family here is equally great.
Thank you for your time, everyone!!
