Thanks for the new thread, STEVE!!!

Congrats on your new feather, JANET!!!

Cloudy this morning. Already had a few sprinkles. Praying for everyones' safety!

Lolly said...

Good morning! Would be much happier if I knew that Sandi had moved inland to a shelter. Yes, 12 miles is not much but it is a lot when considering she in on the water.

Saw 37 on the thermometer this morning and we had our bedroom window open. lol It is closed now!

Heading to church and keeping all in prayer.

glo said...

Good morning everyone. Prayers for all out east as they prepare for whatever the storm brings their way. Gosh this is such a quiet place. It is what it is. Make it a good and safe day for ALL the life around you.

stronghunter said...

Good afternoon,

At this point, we are staying here. The contractor checked the tarp and thinks it will be okay.

Putting porch furniture, etc., into the pod.

stronghunter said...

Glad you did not feel the earthquake, Hoda.

DanaMo said...

Sandi reported schools are closed by her Monday and Tuesday. We haven't had that yet, but we are inland and I think they will wait to see if we lose power. That is the only reason I can see for us getting closed. TV is saying schools elsewhere as well.

Judie said...

Good afternoon to everyone.

Hoda, with the rain and wind, you and your dragon boat should make good time arriving in my front yard. I will keep the candle burning to light your way.

Shirley, given your circumstances, I sincerely hope that the worst of the rain will pass you by and there will be no serious consequences. You certainly do NOT deserve more stress and anxiety.

To everyone, please stay safe and take whatever precautions you can.

Good Afternoon?!

I am already glued to the tv watching all the hurricane coverage. So far I am off work Mon and Tues for my days off. Off yesterday and Today because I took Vacation days. If Mom were here, she would be all over this storm. Posting pics and links... I took that over on FB!! Hope noone gets tired of seeing it!!
Hope everyone is safe from what ever the weather brings your way!!

Sandi said...

We have ...
- boarded up the sliding glass door from our bedroom to the balcony, since it faces east and gets no protection from the wind;

- moved everything that used to be sitting on the floor in Denny's workshop up onto workbenches and tables;

- gotten the generator all set up and ready to go if needed (Denny has decided that, even if he doesn't have to use it, he'll keep it for the next storm);

- contacted our other neighbors who are staying put to get their cell numbers so we can communicate if the telephone lines go down;

- moved the gas grill so we have access to it in case we need it for cooking.

Now we just wait - and pray!

It is raining steadily now and the winds have picked up but aren't terrible. We will sleep in the downstairs bedroom tonight so, if a tree falls on the roof, the ceiling won't come crashing down onto us in our bed!

A South Bethany police officer came knocking a while ago, making a list of who is staying in town and let us know that, after 8pm tonight, there will be no emergency response personnel on duty to respond to an emergency. He reminded us about the shelter at the local high school but pets are not allowed there, so that's not an option for us anyway.

As Dana reported to the blog, schools are already canceled for Monday AND Tuesday.

Think I'll read and maybe take a nap. May not sleep so well tonight! I will stay in touch! Thanks for everyone's concern, prayers, and positive energy!

Jewels said...

Sandi, you and Dennis are in my thoughts and prayers. You have done this before. Everything will be ok.

NatureNut said...

Hello, Hello, Eagle Buds. Been busy trying to secure stuff yesterday outside. Got all the flower pots lined up together. umbrella down, etc.Would you believe there are a few crabapple blooms on the tree!
Just got back from grossery and it wasn't too bad.Had to get ice cream!Got big chuck roast & veggies. If elec goes out, can cook on gas stove top & we have one generator that can save the fridge. Went to Ledo's in case there's a salad attack and I think I heard my former name of "Lowreeda" spoken by an employee I know from old store! Fubby went to BJs Sat. AM and said he never saw the parking lot that full. He left!

Shirley, I've been thinking about you and wondered if you needed plywood to cover you house like they put up down South?

NatureNut said...

Fingers & toes crossed, prayers for all in storms' way. Sandi, too bad you can't go to shelter. Hope it goes somewhere else! Hope everyone's Eastern shore homes will be OK.

Lynne2 said...

Hi All!

Keeping an eye on the storm. They have just upped the potential rainfall from 3-6 with 10" locally possible to 4-8 with 12" possible. Worst to start tomorrow afternoon. Winds 40-60 with higher gusts. NOT real crazy about going to work tomorrow along 23 miles of twisting, turning, hilly roads...

Lynne2 said...

actually, I'm more concerned about the drive home when it will be worse....

Lolly said...

Beautiful day here...sun shining and now up to 61. Helped Jack with harvesting pecans after church. We now have 15 bags of pecans drying in the shop!!☺

Hard to imagine the storm Sandi is in!!! And, the rest of you!

Glad you got the glass door boarded up Sandi! And, sleeping downstairs is a great idea. Hope you even get sleep tonight.

Monte went to the store for D batteries and couldn't get any so he got beer! :)
Many schools around me have already called off school, but not ours. Guess my county is going to wait and see.

Sandi said...

Dana, I like how Monte thinks! Beer tastes much better than D batteries!

My sister called to say that the flight to Cleveland tomorrow afternoon has been canceled. Lisa tried to get an earlier flight, but it had also been canceled. She will call the Cleveland Clinic tomorrow to reschedule.

We are doing OK - fingers crossed that it stays that way. The storm is still a LONG way from being over - rain and wind are supposed to continue into Tuesday!

Later!

JudyEddy said...

just got done voting and now at BM eating took laptop as you can see I figured since I own it might as well use it lol

glo said...

Well it will soon be dark out east. For many of you the storm is closing in etc. Just know you are in the prayers of all of us especially those who wait and watch from a distance. Be safe and check in when you can.

JudyEddy said...

LOVE IT DANAMO NO batteries so the beer I bursted out laughing when I read that LOL

DanaMo said...

My facebook is blowing up from people in my county waiting for our schools to make a decision. It should be interesting. Neither Washington County or Frederick County have cancelled as of yet.

Sandi-I am so sorry that the storm is wreaking (did I spell that right?) havoc with your mom's appointment. That was just the first step in the process right?

JudyEddy said...

Makes me so sad seeing all the pictures of the flooding already and the storm hasn't hit yet I pray all of you stay safe and out of harms way

Schools in Berkeley, Morgan and Jefferson CO WV has been closed tomorrow!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Checking in before I head to bed to watch some TV.

They are calling for 5-8 inches of snow starting tomorrow afternoon and a blizzard warning for Tuesday here.

Lolly said...

I burst out laughing too about the D batteries!

Well, I got jury postponed in July and tomorrow is the day. Groan...
I have be be there at 9 in the morning so leaving here at 8. Way too early for me. No time to read the paper and drink coffee. Taking my kindle with me!

Lolly said...

Oh, wow, Sharon. It is way too early for that much snow!

glo said...

Merry Christmas Sharon

Hoda said...

WOW!!!
Good luck with jury duty tomorrow LOLLY!!!

I hope all are safe with that much snow plus the wind SHAR!!! Not pleasant conditions.

The west coast is clear and no after shocks reported today either.
the east coast in Canada is under warning...poor little Prince Edward Island will it blow away??? I hope not it is such a beautiful province but it is so tiny!!!

I am watching the news on the east coast United States and am very relieved for SANDI'S posts. LYNNE maybe phone in for a day off tomorrow? Maybe STEVE can drive you in and then home? Just thinking, I don't like the winedy roads and all...stay safe...

JUDIE JUDIE JUDIE you checked in THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Love you much too...

A very grey day here today and there is a lot of energy that is full of suspense...the weather is unsettled is one of it and people are worried at the goings on all around us...PRAYERS TO ALL!!!

Lynne2 said...

well, I have taken what is likely the last hot shower, or ANY shower, that I will get for some time.

It's creepy down here in the basement, can't see out, can't hear anything at all of the outside.

Planning to head in to work tomorrow but will reassess in the AM.

Shirley, geez, hoping your tarp holds.

And Sandi, hope you'll check in soon.

Lynne2 said...

My thoughts turn to another home during this time...one occupied by some very special eagles that we are waiting anxiously to see again soon....can't help but worry about the tree....

Lynne2 said...

I don't know how long I can stay in touch but I'll check in from time to time here as I am able.

Please stay safe, all of you in the path of the Frankenstorm.

Sandi said...

Just got back from taking the Jeep out to see what's going on out there. Things are OK! None of the canals have overflowed onto the road, the bay behind us hasn't overflowed its banks, none of the streets are flooded. Drove up to the ocean but couldn't see over the dunes from the Jeep. The waves were really crashing but no water was coming over the dune.

Tonight's high tide has passed and, b/c the wind is coming from the north, it has pushed the water from the high tide back out - that's a very good thing!

So far, so good. Am going to get some sleep. Goodnight all - thanks for worrying about us!

Janet said...

Thinking about everyone....and snow for West Virginia and quite a lot of it too...YIKES!!!!!!!!!!

Will keep everyone in my heart and thoughts as I sleep tonight. Check in as you can....

Blessings, light, love and pleasant dreams to all.

Hoda said...

LYNNE stay safe...will be thinking of you and hope there are no floods in you basement apt.

Thanks for checking in SANDI and it sounds like it is a good thing with the Northerly Winds. According to the SHamans out here the North is associated with Eagle...so SED and see you in the morning.

LYNNE first thinking of BELLE and SHEP and then the tree...may they shelter well and be safe and I hope the tree too endures. STEVE will have to keep us posted.

More people should have checked in by now to say goodnight. I hope you are well and simply just occupied by the happenings around you. PRAYERS ♥

Schools are closed in DC also so I hope JUDIE and MEGAN and excuse my geography but I hope you are all safe.

Several aftershocks on the coast but no tsunami alerts issued this time...mostly the after shocks were 6 and lower. In that same area that saw 7.7 magnitude last night in 1949 it reported an 8.1!!! It is a fault and the Haida Gawaii is right on that fault...God Save them...

As the storm sandy clears the US Coast they she is headed towards Prince Edward Island...God such a small little island I hope it survives and at the end of it all we still have ten provinces and three territories!!!

NatureNut said...

Good Evening everyone. Hope we all stay dry!
Shar, TV showed snow in Beckley, WV. Don't know if that's near you, but is in the south of state.Hope you don't get that blizzard.
Hoda, guess you are lucky and in Western Canada, as this Sandy will be visiting Canada on East!!
Lynne2, hope you are happy in the basement. That's where they're telling people to go esp. if trees on property unless there's water nearby.
Hope Sandi is doing OK and Shirley's house stays dry!!
My daughter is supposedly in the air from China. I didn't know where she would land before going to TX.(hoping NOT NY) SIL, Jimmy, found tracking on computer~~~said, it was "over a large body of water" DUH!!!Plane left China and went North, then would come over Alaska to hub in Detroit!Hooray.
I loved Dana's Monte's replacement choice for batteries!!!!Nothing like planning ahead!
Hope everyone and all their belongings stay safe!
Prayers for Good Health to ALL &
Pleasant Feather Dreams ;>)

Hello,

Have made what preparations we can. Hunter's school is closed tomorrow. We figured it would be, but did not tell him until he had worked on an assignment.

So far, the tarp is still there.

We have put cardboard over some of the holes in the walls. Never thought I would do such a thing. But we had lots of boxes and tape. Still need to do two more rooms.

We have gotten firewood, but will be afraid to burn it with tarp wrapped around the chimney. I am hoping they get in here and fix the wall even if the power goes out, or especially if the power goes out.

Glad to see that Judie has checked in. Will be waiting to hear about Hoda's dragon boat visit.

Please Please keep all my eagle buds safe and out of harms way Keeping you all in my thoughts and hope our eagle find a port in the storm Hope the tree stands tall for them Need to ask Steve tomorrow to look at the tree for us

Stay safe SHIRLEY...I am most concerned about your situation and if the power is lost and it is cold go to a motel with heat please. This is incredible...no I would not light a fire with the chimney wrapped in a tarp either...

stronghunter said...

At this point, Kathryn expects to go to work tomorrow. But she did say that her boss usually follows what Quantico Marine Base does, and it looks like they have altered their schedule. She's in bed now. Guess she will find out tomorrow.

When Isabel hit, her boss kept everyone at work until I called and told her that she had to come home. She told her boss what I'd said. ("My mother said I have go home.") He closed the shop then. She had a scary drive home.

Lolly said...

Just finished watching the news and the weather. The news was mostly about the storm. Prayers for all of you in the path. I feel sure a lot of you are going to loose power...please try to reach someone some how some time!!☺

Heading to the shower now. Have to get up early in the morning.

Night all! SED!!!!

stronghunter said...

If it is necessary, I will take my family to a hotel. Only thing is, they might not have heat there, either. We will handle things, though.

We piled the firewood on the front porch. Not my idea of what one should do in a subdivision, but we are in survival mode.

Hoda said...

Night LOLLY good luck with JURY duty and I hope it is not for days on end...will you be allowed to check in? Ask JACK to come to the blog to let us know what he hears and that you and he are alright.

Hoda said...

We should all get twitter accounts. It is the most eficient way to communicate in disasters...does not occupy phone lines and does not use up battery much...limited words.

stronghunter said...

Twitter--have not mastered it yet, Hoda. But it sounds like a good idea. I should be able to recharge my cell phone in my car.

Will has bought a propane lantern. Wow! It is bright. I have a battery-operated lantern that is quite bright, too. We should be able to see. Hunter has his Monopoly board ready to go. We were playing tonight.

Hoda said...

PEI will escape sandy's wrath according to the Canadian Hurricane centre...big sigh of relief here...

Hoda said...

I am glad your family is together SHIRLEY. Maybe you should phone KATHRYNE'S boss tomorrow and tell him to close shop so no one would be out on the roads...he seems to listen to mothers...God Bless his soul!
LOL

stronghunter said...

Good news for PEI, Hoda.

paula eagleholic said...

Glad to hear Sandi checked in and all is well at the moment.

The worst of it will be Monday evening into Tuesday.

I am going to work tomorrow...I doubt we will have any customers! But you never know.

Thinking of all of us affected by this storm, animal and human.

SED, love and hugs to all ♥

stronghunter said...

Watching the news about shelters, etc., now. When we left school before Isabel, we were told to be prepared for the school to be used as a shelter. I don't think anyone actually used Culpeper Schools, though.

Interestingly, in Fredericksburg, quite a few people showed up at the new hospital building and took refuge in the lobbies, etc., there.

Hoda said...

Keep checking in PAULA and I hope your sons and Grandchildren are also OK...stay safe.

stronghunter said...

I do not expect Kathryn's shop will have many customers, either. But I guess they have cars to work on.

Costume Lady said...

Checking in for the night...

It had been raining here but has stopped, for now...calm before the storm?

We got GG settled in, just in case something would keep us from driving in there. Got her LED lights, extra meals and 3 days worth of her meds put away in a drawer. Her neighbor came over while we were there, today and assured us that she would check in on her to make sure she is alright. Makes me feel good to know that.

Sleepy time-
Good night, prayers and love for everyone♥

Good morning. I hope to see everyone checking in.
Not much happening here in Hagerstown, although they did follow everyone else and close school for the day.

DanaMo said...

Hoda-I do have a twitter.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Good morning everyone. Snowing in Bluefield and schools are closed.

Sandi said...

Good Monday morning my eagle friends! We are still here and with power! No trees fell on the roof. The ground is getting saturated all around us but the stone under the house is still dry so there's a place for the dogs to go to the bathroom. (Sure hope Bandit will be willing to pee and poop on the first floor deck if/when the water backs up under the house. Bella is used to using pee pads indoors.) The canal in front of us has not breached the bulkhead.

The rain has picked up, as have the winds. Gonna be a long day!

Make it a great day! Prayers that those in the path of this storm can stay safe!

Janet said...

Good morning all. Checking in to see how every is....wtching the weather on the tv......holding you close....holding the eagles close....what a mess!!!! this storm seems to move so slowly!!!!

hugs, light, and love to each of you as you brave thru today.

DanaMo said...

I think the schools jumped the gun. We don't even have any rain right now and I don't think it's going to get bad for us until tonight and tomorrow. Oh well. I guess I will use this day to get some work done and save the personal day I was going to take on Friday for later in the year!

JudyEddy said...

Good Morning Eagle Buds So good to hear from some of you that have no bad effects from Sandy yet and hope it contiunes

Good morning everyone.

The big school house is closed. Have set up a contingency plan to notify students if school is open tomorrow but I cannot get there.

Heavy rain and high winds here.

Wishing everyone, and their furry companions, a safe journey through this storm. Be safe and dry!

stronghunter said...

Good morning,

Windy and rainy here. So far, all is well. Hunter, Will, and I are here now. Kathryn is at work.

The plumbers are working on the house next door. I am impressed.

Jewels said...

Checking in from the mountains!
Still raining, winds blowing, and almost all the leaves are on the ground now. It really looks bare outside. So they are saying that the winds have picked up, at 90 mph, barometric pressure has dropped more, down to 943, moving nnw at 18 mphs now. They are now saying that by midnight tonight we will see hurricane force winds that are on the outside of the eye. Didn't think the storm was going to get bigger. UGh!!!
Hope everyone is well and staying dry!!!

stronghunter said...

They are saying the storm has gotten stronger.

It is getting worse here.

Kathryn just texted a message saying that she is leaving work at 1:00.

Lolly said...

I am home, but have to go back tomorrow. Have been selected to be on a panel. From the panel they will select a jury. Not happy! I do not want to do this. I am a home body. I would much rather be at home!!!!

Really really concerned for Sandi. Water is surely to be in her house!

Had a dental appointment for tomorrow to get my new crown. Called and rescheduled, then they called back and are getting me in this afternoon. Yea!

Lolly said...

Lynne, surprised you went in to work. Please head home early!!!

Checking in from The Big House.
Fortunately, any BIG TREES are not close enough here to do much if any damage....
raining, cold, winds picking up.
So glad the school systems and many businesses and governments are pro-active on cancellations and
closings.

I have not been able to read the blog since sometime Saturday,
hoping to try to catch up, BUT, a bug bite or plant exposure
sensitivity has nearly closed one of my eyelids...
so "I'll SEE" if I can do that.

Washington County just closed for tomorrow at 1:08pm. I'm actually still sitting here doing work though. It's good to finally get some things done that I can't do in the classroom with the kids. Definitely won't take the personal day I was scheduled to take on Friday though.

Haven't heard from Sandi for a while, would like to see her check in. Pictures from Ocean City look devastating. Frontier Town (campground we go to) is posting pictures as well and they are under quite a bit of water. So sad.

I worry and the Sycamore palace, too. The tree and the eagles are a concern but really concerned about Sandi and Shirley!

Beautiful day here...bright blue sky, not a cloud, and presently 60. We did have a heavy frost this morning.

Jewels said...

Margy, yes, schools are closed tomorrow too. Looks like 24 hrs of hurrican gusts for us. I am not going to have a good ride in to work. If all three areas are flooded, I will not be able to get there! All three of my exits have water areas that flood. I will do what I can, but no promises.

Lolly said...

That was supposed to be "I worry about". Guess I really should proof read before posting!

DanaMo, nothing you can do about lost days. Do not fret! Just enjoy your day, get caught up on your work. Read a book!

Lolly said...

How far a drive to work, Jewels?

Jewels said...

It takes me 25 min with no traffic or weather hazards.

Sandi said...

Afternoon all! We are warm and dry and have cable and high speed internet. No water from outside has come inside yet but I think that will be changing very shortly! The bay behind us and the canals in front of us have all overflowed. In combination with the water falling from the sky, there is probably 6" of standing water on our wooded lot. The sump pump is working but has nowhere to pump the water.

I am so sick of this storm! Probably another 12-18 hours before it's finished doing its thing here.

Will check in again later!

Glad to hear from Sandi! Now where are the poor SNOW BUNNIES??

Home from work, power out there. Flooding in fields and streams on the way home but no roads flooding so far on my route.

The pictures on FB are just awful to look at...so much flooding on the shores...

Kay said...

So thankful to tune in and find that SANDI and other Momsters are doing okay in spite of Sandy's fury ! Whew !

Even here we are under high wind warnings (up to 60 mph). It's raining and that may turn to snow if the forecasters are right. Talked to my NJ kids and they are high, dry and safe for the moment. Another big sigh of relief.

If only Belle and Shep could broadcast something about their safety ! ☺

WANDA, how far away from you does GG live ? Glad she has good neighbors for you to rely on ! Keep us posted !

Isn't it funny how so much of the worlds news seems to go away when we are experiencing a weather phenonomenon ? Nothing on the news but Sandy.

Prayers for all ! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Lynne, glad you are home. Green hair? lol

Wind and rain have REALLY picked up! Just when I think the weather can't get any worse, it gets worse!!
The storm is supposed to make landfall between 5 and 6pm and will arrive as a hurricane (not a tropical storm) with 90mph winds.

Believe it or not, the goldfinches are STILL sitting on my thistle feeder - it's almost empty and I filled it around noon yesterday!!

No more driving for me tonight - the winds are so strong that I worry something (like a trash can) would come flying into my Jeep!

Later - I hope!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Snowing harder and wind picking up here too. I have a limb on my power line out here, reported it and have heard nothing back. I really wish they would have done something before it knocks my power out. ARRRGGGHHH!

We have rain, wind, power still on. Just put my roast in the oven~~~don't really want it, but gotta cook something w/leftovers!!

News just said that the eye is making landfill. Apparently the storm is moving faster than expected which is good. Should be out of hear sooner rather than later.
Glad to hear Sandi is still dry.
Wonder what Belle and Shep do during the storm. Hope they are okay and the nest remains in the tree.

that should say "landfall"

JudyEddy said...

SANDI thanks for posting pic on facebook are any of your place do you have water like they do ?????

NatureNut said...

Forgot to tell you that our only problem so far is a little water seeping in on one side of the basement. It's the deepest area underground--no windows, etc. & has concrete driveway up to the bricks now on whole side!He thinks it might be saturated ground and seeping through the cinderblocks!?Fubby has been vacuuming now & then. He put tarps along deck on that side which is facing NW! Duh. Seems a little better now.
Hope Sandi and Shirley are not flooded. The other Sandy has come ashore now.
Prayers for all

could surely be some power outages
keeping our friends out of touch
:(

got water in the bathtub and two buckets, flashlights ready,
lights have flickered a few times; if I lose power I lose water.
I see there ARE some trees on the south side of house big enough to fall onto the house...so now I am feeling squeamish

Paula: Sorry about Larry's place...how do you think your Paradise is holding up ??

Hang in there Sandi: hope you keep power or manage ok without it if it happens

magpie said...

Absolute Prayers that all affected by all this will come through safely...

Lolly said...

Ok, I am not one to curse, but let me tell you I AM THINKING IT!!! Did not get my crown. They deadened my mouth, did some more work, kept fitting it into my mouth, kept working on it, dropped it down my throat twice!!!! I coughed it up! Then they broke it!!! Yes, I have cried. This dentist is rough. My jaw was aching!!! So, I go back early next week. Also, he keeps pointing out more teeth that need crowns. Needless to say...I do not think he will be my dentist again.

glo said...

Oh dear. I hate that it is coming night fall now. I never like storms at night when you can't even see what is happening out your window etc. Prayers continue for all. Glad to see so many checking in. Lolly Find a different dentist!!!!

paula eagleholic said...

I saw Jo post on FB last night.

I am wondering if Sandi still has power.

I am getting water under my french doors here in the kitchen, the rain has been pounding the back of the house from the west.

Oh Lolly, what a frustrating visit! I broke off part of my crown last week while I was eating some peanut brittle. Guess no more peanut brittle :(

Hoping Paradise is OK from the wind, don't think the water will reach it, but I'll bet it's high. The winds are pushing the water onshore at my place now, and probably all night. It hasn't ever had water in it.

I'll bet Lori is in the motel near the station.

Still have power, but it has flickered some.

paula eagleholic said...

Poor Nick, doesn't understand why I won't let him out!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Poor Magpie. So far, so good on our power.

JudyEddy said...

PAULA Have you opened the door and show NICK outside yet

stronghunter said...

Good evening,

Oh, it sounds so much worse in the darkness.

Have gone out to check on the tarp several times. Called the contractor because there are a few holes where the nails have pulled through. He said that there are several layers of tarp, so just because one has small holes does not mean the house is exposed.

No school here tomorrow. I would not have expected anything else. Margy, this is one of the worst I have been through, too. Isabel was bad and so was the super blizzard in Ohio in the late '70's.

Did not sleep much last night. Might not tonight, either.

We still have power here. But I think I will put an emergency light by my bed.

stronghunter said...

People are surfing on Lake Michigan.

Lolly said...

Oh, I hate that Margy lost power!

We are there with you, Margy...in spirit!

Jack is fixing supper...scrambled eggs and bisquits. My mouth is still dead!!! I'll probably chew my bottom lip! Yikes!

Lolly said...

Hey...Shirley!! How are you holding up?

stronghunter said...

Oh, Lolly, we had a dentist who would sneak up on you with a big needle and stab you and it hurt like the very devil.

We found another dentist, and it is so much better.

It is a matter of skill.

stronghunter said...

I am glad not to be alone in this house tonight.

My daughter Susan just checked in. She is the only human in her apartment, though she has four kitties with her.

stronghunter said...

I am okay, Lolly. Was glad that the insurance lady called me today. She is sending a check and wanted to give me the tracking information. I told her that I hope the delivery guy does not just drop a package on my front porch in the middle of a hurricane.

paula eagleholic said...

Oh yes, Judy, I showed it to him awhile ago. He went out and came right back in!

Gonna feed Nick, and then let him out.

stronghunter said...

Susan and I had a long conversation this afternoon. She checked in on FB a little while ago.

Hurricane Sandy has now been absorbed into the other storm that was coming from the west. Wow, what a storm.

paula eagleholic said...

Do you have it settled yet, Shirley?

Costume Lady said...

Checking in from Martinsburg/Shepherdstown.
The wind is blowing very hard and rain is still coming down, sideways. We do still have electricity. We have filled two plastic tubs with water for each bathroom and have bottled water for drinking and cooking. We do have a gas stove for cooking that doesn't need electricity to turn. Unfortunately, we found out yesterday that GG's gas stove needs electricity to start the pesos which makes the burners light. That is why we got her gas...just didn't know about the pesos. She has plenty food that doesn't need to be cooked...peanut butter, jelly, apple butter, crackers of all kinds, etc.
One thing that did work out is the gas burning fireplace. No electricity needed! She was still doing fairly well today...spirits a little better and she laughed a lot. I don't want to be premature, but I'm hoping the anti-depressant is taking effect and that has been a lot of her problem (mood wise).

Karla and her entourage are still stuck down in the OBX. They have not lost power (thank goodness). I may have mentioned that Jayden has learned to say Hurricane:) He will be 3 yrs. old next month and I think he may be old enough to remember this experience. They have posted umpteen pictures on facebook.

KAY, I live 7 miles from GG, but it takes about 25 mins. to drive there (I hit a lot of traffic).
Her next door neighbor will be checking in on her in the morning. We may or may not have Soup Kitchen tomorrow...MTBR.

Sandi has posted many photos on facebook and seems to be faring well, considering what is taking place.
I am so grateful that all our dangerous (to our house) trees have been cut down.

MEGAN, we have some Hemlocks that were cut down Saturday if you need them...I guess it is still too early for your pretty wreaths~

stronghunter said...

Flash and Luna are not interested in going outdoors. Was joking that they might fly away on their basset ears last time we sent them out.

stronghunter said...

I think things are now settled so that the work can begin as soon as weather permits.

Lynne2 said...

lights are flickering, may be out of touch soon

THIS JUST IN FROM SANDI:

Sandi Roberts

Electricity went out at 5pm. Got the sump pump and refrigerator running from the generator. But the sump pump couldn't keep up with the volume of water. We now have about 4 inches of water in the house on the ground floor! =( Power came back on around 7 but we have no cable and no internet. It's still raining and the wind is still blowing and the carport area under the house is flooded! #@!&? I'm going to bed!

Prayers that it doesn't get any worse for her...how could it? So sorry:(

paula eagleholic said...

Sandi's post not on my newsfeed either and when I go to her FB wall, all of the recent stuff she has posted isn't there????

paula eagleholic said...

Let Nick out, heard him barking some, then all quiet. Went out calling for him, called out front. Then went out back and called. And there he was, on the other side of the fence in the front yard! Think one gate blew open, went and secured it.

paula eagleholic said...

Same here, Lynne, strange. Messed up FB again!

JudyEddy said...

SANDI post is on my news feed but I have most all of my peeps maked not to show on my feed with the exceptions of the eagle blog and family I made list for everyone else so if I want to see what they have to say I just click on that list of them

grannyblt said...

The rain--since Saturday-continues here in western PA. It is windy and rainier this evening. Maybe 30 mph sustained. I took in the bird feeders this afternoon--don't want them blowing into something with a wind gust. Hard to believe the center of Sandy is hundreds of miles away. What we have now should be the worst, not much compared to many of you. Stay safe everyone.

Lolly said...

LOL Paula! I thought, oh no, hope the wind did not blow Nick over the fence! He is a good dog, knew to stay around!

I just saw Sandi's post on fb. Scary!

Lolly said...

I looked at Sandi's pictures of her house. She said the carport is flooded, therefore the cars are in the water...not good. 4" on the ground floor....I guess that is next to the carport. What rooms do they have on the ground floor?

paula eagleholic said...

I don't know if that is just where Denny's shop is or not.

Costume Lady said...

Wind is hurling things at our house and windows.
CAROLYN just lost electricity:(
